Modi’s war on two fronts enters decisive phase
According to an international source, GHQ has a ten-point plan to create economic and social chaos in India “soon after the Union Budget gets passed”, and when the economy gets poised for take-off because of investor interest and confidence in a government headed by Narendra Modi. These are: (1) speculative fever funded by operators close to the hawala and narcotics lobby, leading to high prices of essential items; (2) focus on decline in job creation caused by Chicago School economic policies; (3) uptick in the generation of unrest in Kashmir; (4) fanning of radicalism in Punjab on the 1980s Zia-ul-Haq model; (5) terror attacks by ISI-linked groups; (6) efforts at restarting NSCN(K) violence in the Northeast; (7) infiltrating workers’ groups to press for violent action on the lines of the Haryana agitation; (8) use of NGOs to give a negative picture of the government, thereby affecting its morale and possibly its response; (9) campus unrest on an all-India scale; and (10) a global campaign to label India as a country that is intolerant of women, children, the underprivileged and minorities. According to those tracking such developments, “the narcotics lobby in India has promised funding for such operations” as the distraction created by such tumult draws attention away from them as well as serves to enervate and, in some cases, even paralyse the working of security agencies, including the police and paramilitary forces. Taking a cue from the disruption caused during the August 1974 railway strike of two million workers of this priceless national asset, GHQ Rawalpindi, through its platforms in India, “is looking into ways of ensuring that violent and complete strikes take place” in railways, banking and road transport industries, “thereby burying the India Story for a long time to come”. Unfortunately, the ascendancy of Milton Friedman economic theories in North Block and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has led for over a decade to policies that inhibit growth in the name of battling inflation. The RBI’s substitution of the Consumer Price Index for the Wholesale Price Index (which has been in negative territory for more than a year) has resulted in an interest rate policy that has choked demand and therefore private investment. If newspaper reports are correct, the Economic Advisor to the Ministry of Finance considers 70% of the population of this country to be well-off, something that will be news to hundreds of millions within or close to the margins of poverty defined in any rational way. As a consequence, there has been an absence thus far of the tax cuts and other investment-boosting mechanisms needed to achieve Prime Minister Modi’s wholly achievable target of at least 10 million jobs each year. Some experts worry that in actual fact, jobs have actually declined over the past two years, thanks to UPA-era policies that are yet to be jettisoned by North Block. It is estimated that even more jobs, 12 million annually, are needed to ensure that the young entering the job market be each given gainful occupations. Some officials in the economic ministries appear to be assuming that India is similar to 1970s South America (where there were authoritarian governments able to suppress dissent) and that therefore the effect on tens of millions of potentially volatile citizens of deflationary policies can be ignored. They need to understand that Prime Minister Modi is fully committed to democratic values and practices in sync with his call for “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” and that therefore to create a policy matrix ignoring social impact is wrong. Such Chicago School types are ignoring even the factor of negative rural demand caused by two drought years and three drought seasons in their deflationary zeal. Such an approach is inadvertently feeding into GHQ’s plans to create unrest and chaos through its Non-Terror Wing.
2016 is a year crucial for not simply the political fortunes of the BJP but the very future of India. This is a year where Prime Minister Modi will need to ensure the defeat of not only the Terror Front but the Non-terror front as well. This will require a close examination of existing personnel and policies and their replacement by those suited to the 21st century and to the human and security needs of the 1.26 billion people of India, whatever be their religion or state. Given the experience of Gujarat, where Year 3 and Year 4 of the Modi era saw remarkable improvements in the policy matrix, there is optimism that 2016 will witness the transformational change that voters in India have been anticipating since 2014

Gujarat alert: No Pak militants killed
Intelligence agencies and Gujarat police have dismissed purported home ministry official claims that three of 10 terrorists having infiltrated from Pakistan were killed in a western state on the basis of a March 5 tip-off by Pakistani national security adviser Naseer Janjua to his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval.
Nine men initially suspected by investigators to be part of those infiltrators as they left behind suspicious articles at two Gujarat guest houses later turned out to be ATM thieves from Jharkhand.
The agencies maintain that not one of the so-called 10 terrorists has either been traced or eliminated even as border states are on alert. There has been no communication intercept or physical clue of any large-scale cross-border infiltration by jihadists belonging to either the Jaish-e-Mohammed or the Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Saudi’s IDB Group pitches for Islamic finance in India - ToI

This is dangerous and must not be allowed. IDB is a front for spreading of wahhabism.
Saudi Arabia-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group will approach the RBI to highlight the benefits of tweaking rules to allow Islamic finance in India. The meeting comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia next month.

Khaled M Al-Aboodi, CEO of the Islamic Corporation for the Development of Private Sector (ICD) — an arm of the IDB, said that he would discuss with the RBI how Islamic finance could complement the existing banking activity.

Highlighting the advantage of Islamic finance — an interest-free method of providing capital — Al-Aboodi said that there was no excess leveraging in such assets and banks would always have some security. According to Al-Aboodi, in terms of distress Islamic finance worked well as the financier operated as a partner with the businessman. "During the 2008 global financial crisis, Islamic finance banks had been affected at a much lesser level," he said. IDB has advised other countries that have managed to tweak rules to enable interest-free financing. One of the regulations is facilitation of leasing and buyback of assets by financiers.

Al-Aboodi, who was in India ahead of Modi's visit to Saudi Arabia, said that although IDB lends only to 56 member countries, it worked together with India in getting Indian vendors for projects in developing markets in Africa. "We play a role similar to the Exim Bank's, by financing Indian imports among member countries," said Al-Aboodi. He added that Indian companies were in a position to provide affordable technology.

In India, the IDB is engaged in social development initiatives. One such initiative likely to be signed during the PM's visit is a $50-million financing of mobile medical units in the country. The financing will be through a non-government organization which has been identified for the purpose.

The IDB Group has been present in India since 1983, when it started a scholarship programme under which 4,190 students have benefited, he said, adding it has also helped 250 other projects in the country.{Now we know why wahhabism has entrenched itself in some pockets in the country}

Pathankot attack: Technical Support Division fell to politics, says Manohar Parrikar
NEW DELHI: Bringing back the debate on a controversial intelligence unit set up by former Army Chief Gen VK Singh, defence minister Manohar Parrikar said in Parliament that the outfit 'set up to eliminate terrorits' fell to political point scoring. Speaking on a debate on the Pathankot attack in Lok Sabha, Parrikar said that the Technical Support Division (TSD) became a political issue and said that there have been several instances where military intelligence has been 'sacrificed at the altar of political goals'. "Intelligence which was developed, whether it is Deep Assets or the attempt of TSD formation by Gen VK Singh, fell to the political aspirations, to the political policies and political scoring point," Parrikar said, while defending the handling of the Pathankot attack by his government .The minister, who faced strong questions from the opposition on the attack and counter operations, said that the Army was in overall charge of the mission and rejected reports that there was confusion on who was in command. Asserting that the Pathankot attackers were 'totally foiled' in the attempt in 'creating a big scenario', Parrikar described the attack on the air base as a 'mini war'. "This has to be treated as a war. Let us be very clear. Even small incidents of terrorism of this as a war and they have to be given the same importance as well as secrecy they need," the minister said. Parrikar, however, refused to comment on the nationality of the attackers despite several questions by the opposition. "There were some foreign trainees. I cannot reveal as to which country they belong to...I think, we totally foiled the attempt of the terrorists in creating a big scenario," he said.

SIMI men wanted to bomb RSS meet - Vijaita Singh, The Hindu
Four alleged members of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), who had jumped prison and were arrested in February after a long chase, planned to attack a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) congregation to avenge the Muzaffarnagar riots of 2013, their interrogators say.

These officials say the “cylinder bombs” devised by them to be set off at the venue turned out to be faulty and exploded in a house they had rented at Bijnore in Uttar Pradesh in September 2014, a year after they escaped from the Khandwa prison in Madhya Pradesh.

Amjad Khan, Zakir Hussein, Mehboob Guddu and Salik, alias Sallu, had allegedly learnt to make the cylinder bombs — a first of its kind in India — from Inspire , an Al-Qaeda magazine. Since these men never used phones and the Internet for fear of being tracked, Inspire came in handy to them as it was the only jihadi literature to have been translated into Hindi, an official says.

In May 2014, they allegedly planted an IED (improvised explosive device) aboard the Bengaluru-Guwahati express in May 2014 to avenge the 2014 riots in Lower Assam, where 32 migrant Muslims were killed by suspected Bodo militants, and the blast killed a woman software engineer at the Chennai Central station. They planted another IED outside a police station in Pune in July 2014 to avenge the death of one of their accomplices in an encounter with the anti-terrorism squad in the city a few years ago.

Amjad Khan, Zakir Hussein and Mehboob Guddu jumped jail, along with their leader Abu Faisal and two others. Salik joined them later on.

Faisal was re-arrested the same year and the two others, Mohammad Ejazuddin and Mohammad Aslam, were killed in an encounter with the Telangana police in Nalgonda in April 2015. {See this post here and subsequent few posts on that} Amjad Khan, Zakir Hussein, Mehboob Guddu and Salik were arrested from a house in Rourkela in Odisha after a three-hour operation involving an exchange of fire. Najma Bee, the mother of Mehboob Guddu, was also arrested from the house.

Wanted in 17 cases

The four men had been on the radar of the agencies for their alleged role in at least 17 incidents of blasts, explosions and robberies across the country.

In the custody of the Madhya Pradesh Police at present, they reportedly told interrogators that they had come to know of an RSS congregation to be held in Muzaffarnagar in September 2014 and wanted to avenge the killings of Muslims killed in the riots.

“The accused wanted to make a strong pressure group to avenge the persecution of Muslims and decided to go for selective killings. To fund themselves, they looted banks and committed robberies,” alleged an interrogator from Madhya Pradesh.

On the move

The accused had also planted an IED outside Farashkhana police station in Pune in July 2014, in which blast five persons were injured. “One of their accomplices was killed in an encounter with the Pune Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS).

To avenge his death they wanted to kill policemen. The IED turned out to be faulty again,” said another official from the Telangana police. Since the MP ATS was hot on their trail, the accused kept moving in areas bordering the State.

Bank robberies too

They allegedly robbed a bank in Karimnagar (Telangana) on February 1, 2014. Telangana Police set out on a hunt and they were cornered in Nalgonda district last year when two of them were killed.

Almost 100 men were deployed on the ground to track the men and on February 16 this year, they were traced to the house at Rourkela in Odisha, from where they were arrested.

“One of the accused, Mehboob, had suffered severes during the Bijnore blast. When his condition started worsening, the accused approached his mother. Najma Bee joined the men and took care of the son.

“Since they were wanted, the group never stayed at the same place for more than three-four months. They were cautious enough not to use phone or any other communication device,” said a senior National Investigation Agency (NIA) official.

This whole thing seems to be a farce. There are a few possibilities that can still make sense.
1. Pukis sounded a false alert to study how our intel agencies are responding to such an input.
2. IB got those crooks but probably under custody in silence to nab all the sleeper cells known to them.
3. Puki had some idea of few piglets crossing through (which may be a routine affair) and issued an alert to get credit.
4. The 10 that crossed in have already well dispersed into multiple states and become sleeper cells as a result of the news leaking out.

Let me add that intel agencies might be tracking them already to see who all they make contact with. An important lesson learned by our intel agencies after 26/11

Malleswaram blast: 2 from [Chennai] city arrested - The Hindu
Sleuths from the Bangalore Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested two persons from the city on Tuesday in connection with their suspected involvement in the 2013 Malleswaram bomb blast.

The accused have been identified as Syed Ali and Jahan Aamir from Mellapalayam district, Tirunelveli{a den for anti-national terrorism}, and have been taken into custody. The Bangalore CCB came to know about the two based on information provided by a few people they had arrested earlier.

The accused were on bail after they were arrested by the Tamil Nadu police on charges of possessing explosive materials. They were on their way to the Poonamallee (Bomb Blasts) Court to attend a hearing in connection with their case.

“The Bangalore CCB got information about the number of the car in which the two were travelling in and tracked them. They were nabbed at Kumananchavadi, close to the court. The sleuths informed the Poonamalee police station and took them to Bangalore,” said a police source.

Did NSA Doval ensure Pak distances itself from LeT
http://www.newsroompost.com/289900/nsa- ... um=twitter
Pakistan which created these outfits solely with the intention of waging a war in Kashmir has started to realise that the problem is spreading within. With China investing billions and India offering its hand in friendship, Pakistan has decided to take a re-look at its policy towards such terrorist outfits. For India, the primary worry has been the Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Jaish-e-Mohammad. The National Security Advisor of India Ajit Doval has made it clear to Pakistan that unless there is action against these outfits, talks would never be on track. Doval has made it amply clear to Pakistan that action has to be taken at any cost if peace were to be given a chance. The Pakistan NSA Naseer Jung Janjua has been reciprocative and during one phone call even told Doval, “Khuda Kasam, Jaish ki aise ki taise kar dunga.” Such statements and some amount of action has given India hope. However the other concern for India has been the Lashkar-e-Taiba. This group has its focus only on India and has been problematic. However the message from China to Pakistan has been clear and loud. China is ready to invest billions in Pakistan. However it wants security of its investments and for this, Pakistan has to act against the terror groups and their leaders who roam around freely. Pakistan at any cost does not want to lose out on the investments from China. Moreover if any Chinese is attacked by these terrorist groups then it would be curtains for the investments.Amar Bhushan, former official with the Research and Analysis Wing tells newsroompost.com that the best way to stop terror strikes from Pakistan is to trade with them. When investments are made in Pakistan, then the army tends to protect it. Moreover there are several former army and ISI officials who have business interests in Pakistan. They will go out of their way to ensure that the same is protected. Hence trade is a better option than combat, Bhushan also adds. However India does not expect that Pakistan would immediately go after the likes of Hafiz Saeed or Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi. They would deal with them in a phased manner. The best way to deal with them is block their funding and put them out of contention or make them less important in the scheme of things over a period of time, Indian officials point out. :-o

Outsiders vs patriotic voices: The new lines in Bastar
Chhattisgarh Home Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam sees the police’s renewed push in Bastar as “constantly breaking own records”. Inspector General (Bastar Range) S R Kalluri describes it as “a turning point”. For NGOs, activists and journalists on the other side of this all-out operation though, it is an open drive against “outsiders”. With differentiation made between them and — that now-familiar qualifier — “patriotic voices”.One of the most steadfast bastions of Naxalism in the country, and one of the few remaining places where Leftist insurgency continues to hold sway, Bastar is seeing an upswing in police operations, involving not just more boots on the ground but deployment of surrendered Naxals in greater numbers than ever before.Close attention is also being paid to the building of specific roads crucial to anti-Naxal operations. Twenty-nine of these projects have been identified by the civil administration, nine of them in Sukma. Of the 29, four have been completed, 13 are in progress, while three are yet to be tendered. Of 1,218 km of roads in the most difficult terrains, so far 481 km have been built. However, opinion is uniform on the primary reason, in terms of operations, for the success: the DRG. “The turning point has been our use of the DRG. The surrendered Naxal cadres know the jungles, it is in their DNA. They never lose that and we are now using that to our advantage,” says Kalluri.Officials say these cadres are often bigger assets in the jungles than paramilitary forces. “A CRPF jawan comes to Chhattisgarh for three years, and treats this as a posting, and he will go away after that. These cadres are from here, come from these villages themselves. They have commitment, and want to end Naxalism so that they can go back to their villages,” Kalluri says.
Another senior officer talks about their immense “flexibility” when it comes to combat situations. “Well-trained forces follow standard operating procedures. These surrendered cadres don’t follow rules, and thus are better equipped in the jungles. For instance, if a CRPF team has mapped out a way of going in and coming out, and if they get ambushed somewhere, it is the DRG that can tell them what jungle paths to take. They speak the local language too. Apart from this is their obvious local intelligence in identifying Naxal networks in the villages.”

IN UPA time Raman Singh was constrained from using such tactics, Police must pas 10th std, Sulwa Judum banned, Police officers killed for when due to cases filed in SC they had to bring some "activists" to Delhi to prove they are alive from Bastar, trap would be set when try to come in.

It seems the Naxals were allowed to run riot, then "DECLARED AS INDIA's GREATEST THREAT" and concessions were being made to Pakistan... Lest we forget what happened.

There are many reasons why Belgium has become a hotbed of radical Islamism. Some of the answers may lie in the implanting of Saudi Salafist preachers in the country from the 1960s.

Keen to secure oil contracts, Belgium's King Baudouin made an offer to Saudi King Faisal, who had visited Brussels in 1967: Belgium would set up a mosque in the capital, and hire Gulf-trained clerics.

At the time, Belgium was encouraging Moroccan and Turkish workers to come into the country as cheap labour. The deal between the two Kings would make the mosque their main place of worship.

Brussels already had the perfect place. An oriental pavilion designed by Belgian architect Ernest Van Humbeek had been built in the capital's Cinquantenaire park in 1879, but was falling into disuse. The 1967 deal gave the Saudis a 99-year, rent-free lease. The pavilion was refashioned by the Saudis, opening in 1978 as the Great Mosque of Brussels, as well as the seat of the Islamic and Cultural Centre of Belgium (ICC).

Although the mosque was treated as the official voice of Muslims in Belgium, its radical Salafist teachings came from a very different tradition to the Islam of the new immigrants. Today, there are around 600,000 people of Moroccan and Turkish origin in Belgium, a country of 11 million.

"The Moroccan community comes from mountainous regions and rift valleys, not the desert. They come from the Maliki school of Islam, and are a lot more tolerant and open than the Muslims from other regions like Saudi Arabia," says George Dallemagne, a Belgian member of parliament for the centre-right CDH, an opposition party. "However, many of them were re-Islamified by the Salafist clerics and teachers from the Great Mosque. Some Moroccans were even given scholarships to study in Medina, in Saudi Arabia."
Dallemagne says the Salafist clerics have tried to undermine attempts by Moroccan immigrants to integrate into Belgium. "We like to think Saudi Arabia is an ally and friend, but the Saudis are always engaged in double-talk: they want an alliance with the West when it comes to fighting Shias in Iran, but nonetheless have a conquering ideology when it comes to their religion in the rest of the world," he said.

Dallemagne has sponsored many resolutions in the Belgian parliament aimed at loosening ties with Saudi Arabia, and reducing the Salafist influence in Belgium. "We can't have a dialogue with countries that want to destabilise us," he says. "The problem is that it is only recently that authorities are finally opening their eyes to this."

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Saudi Arabia next month, the kingdom's Foreign Minister Adel Bin Ahmed Al Jubeir called on him in New Delhi March 8.

The Prime Minister conveyed that India attached high importance to its close and friendly relations with Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Foreign Minister, during the both leaders’ meeting, conveyed that relations with India were accorded a high priority in their foreign policy. He deeply appreciated the constructive role being played by the Indian community in the development of Saudi Arabia.

Both leaders exchanged views on further strengthening bilateral relations, including in the fields of trade, investment, energy, and security cooperation. They also discussed regional situation. The two leaders agreed that both the countries have shared interest in peace and stability in the region, an official statement in this regard said.

Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence that his forthcoming visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would provide an opportunity to elevate the bilateral strategic partnership to a new level. Dr Manmohan Singh, the then Prime Minister, had visited Saudi Arabia in 2010 which was the last high level official visit from the Indian side.

The Saudi Foreign Minister also emphasised that "Saudi Arabia was India's largest supplier of crude but wanted to go beyond, and make it a true energy partnership," MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.

The Prime Minister embarks on two-day State visit to Saudi Arabia beginning April 2. The visit is part of three-nation tour starting from Belgium March 30.

Two college students warned for pro-Pak slogan - The Hindu
Posting a pro-Pakistan slogan on WhatsApp during the recent India-Pakistan T-20 cricket match landed two students of a college at Puttur in Dakshina Kannada in trouble as they were taken under preventive custody on Wednesday. They were let off on the same day after a warning by the police and the taluk magistrate, who is the tahsildar.

Of the two students, one allegedly posted “Pakistan Zindabad”, while another allegedly supported it. The police took cognisance of it after a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activist complained to the Puttur town police on Tuesday. Krishna Prasad, Puttur block president of the VHP, complained to police after his son, student of another college, received the screen shot of the slogan on a WhatsApp group. The police called the two students, pursuing second year B.Com. to the police station and took them under preventive custody under Section 151 of Criminal Procedure Code (under which the police are authorised to make arrest to prevent commission of any cognisable offence). They were produced before the Puttur tahsildar, who released them with a direction to execute a bond of “good conduct” on March 28.

The two students were having a chat in a WhatsApp group during the match on March 19. While one group was supporting the Pakistan team, another group was supporting the Indian team. During the chat, one student posted “Pakistan Zindabad”. When he was rebuked by fellow classmates, another student came in support of the student who had posted it. One among the group members took a screen shot of the slogan and circulated it in other groups.

Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Sharanappa S.D. told The Hindu that the two students revealed during inquiry that the slogan was typed in the context of the cricket match only and not with any seditious intent. :rotfl:

“This is an action taken to make them aware that they should not repeat it in future,” Mr. Sharanappa said.

Suspect in Egypt violence held in Mumbai - Gautam S Mengle, The Hindu
An Egyptian national suspected to be involved in widespread violence and riots in Egypt in 2013 was arrested by the Mumbai police upon his arrival on Thursday, after his name was flagged by a Red Corner Notice issued by Egypt. The suspect is now in the custody of the Extradition Cell of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch.

According to police sources, the suspect identified as Hossam Abdelfatah Tawfik Mohamed, was detained after he landed in Mumbai from Qatar early on Thursday. Sources said his papers were being processed at the Immigration counter at the Airport when officials learned that there was an RCN against his name. He was then detained and the Extradition Cell contacted. A team of officials subsequently arrested him.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Atulchandra Kulkarni, said, “We are now in the process of confirming his identity with the Egyptian authorities.” Sources said that prima facie information indicates that Mohamed was convicted in absentia for a crime he committed on Egyptian soil, after which he went on the run.

Mohamed will be produced in the Esplanade Court on Friday, where the Crime Branch will seek his custody.

Extradition

Officials said that if he is confirmed to be the same person who is wanted in Egypt, the authorities in that country will begin the process of extraditing him. An RCN in the name of ‘Mohamed, Hossam’ on the Interpol website describes the wanted accused as a 49-year-old Egyptian national wanted by the Judicial Authorities of Egypt. The description of the charges against him, in Arabic, mentions ‘weapons’, ‘mob’, and ‘storming of Matay Center’.

The town of Matay had witnessed widespread riots in 2013 following the ouster of President Mohammed Morsi, and the instances of violence included an attack on a local police station, during which a policeman was lynched to death. The Egyptian prosecutor general later handed down death sentences to 528 accused, many of them being convictedin absentia.

Indeed, this is a show of force. "You touch us, we will destroy you". It is to make an example out of someone so that no one dares to question whatever they do.

There is only one place for Islamism, and that is for its neck to be under boots made of steel.

Its high time that Hindus start applying for Gun licenses, especially family guys like us who dont have crowd to support. 1 shotgun would have stopped them on tracks and given time for police to react

They already have guns.

They also hoard swords (there are restrictions on those also). They don't obey laws and none will make them obey.

Only Hindus are dumb enough to obey laws created by Brits to keep them disarmed (after 1857).

Even Aurangzeb tried to disarm Hindus, that was how our ancestors resisted Mohammedans not by quoting constitution or doing puja to laptop on the day of ayudha puja.

If Hindu rajas practiced gun control, Mohamemdans would have practiced enmasse foreskin control & India would be Pak today.

Soln is to have riot "specific" armed police with AFSPA of different kind.

‘I never disclosed Ishrat Jahan’s name’ - The Hindu

The above headline is mischievously wrong. Read below to understand.
Refuting the statements that came out in the examination conducted by special public prosecutor Ujwal Nikam in February, Pakistani-American terrorist David Headley said: “I did not disclose about any women’s cell at the Lashkar-e-Taiba as I had no knowledge.”

On the third day of cross-examination by Abdul Wahab Khan, the lawyer of Abu Jundal, Headley said: “I never disclosed the name of Ishrat Jahan because I was never asked any question about it by anybody during my testimony.” When Mr. Khan asked Headley if the National Investigation Agency had suggested that he take Ishrat Jahan’s name, Headley snubbed Khan saying: “Why would they suggest something and then ask [me] not to say?”

Huge explosion in a house at Kannur
The preliminary finding of the police was that the explosion was caused by explosive materials for fireworks kept inside the house.
which was enough to shake everything around apparently

Foreign hands being tied up slowly

http://www.livemint.com/Politics/HilsIx ... withi.html
All academic institutions and hotels have been directed by the government to inform it about a foreign student or a guest within 24 hours of their making an entry.
In a gazette notification, the home ministry said every university and educational institution shall furnish to the Foreigner Regional Registration Officer information in respect of foreign students enrolled in the institute within 24 hours of his or her arrival.

I liken these measures to actions taken against the NGOs. The time is well past for such tough measures. There is a conspiracy to instigate sections of the society in order to get back what was lost in the electoral battle two years ago and in the process, the opposition is willing to irreparably undermine internal security.

How blasts case was cracked - Gautam S Mengle, The Hindu
The investigation into the 2002 and 2003 bomb blasts in the city was an education for the law enforcement agencies. The Crime Branch team that worked on the case, learnt many valuable lessons about terror, investigating officials said, shortly after the verdict was announced. Police officials connected with the case spoke to The Hindu , requesting anonymity. They recalled that the December 2002-March 2003 period was a particularly stressful, with the seemingly random blasts causing large-scale panic in the city.

The first breakthrough came from the central intelligence agencies: they said a former SIMI member was involved in all the blasts. (Incidentally, current Mumbai Police Commissioner D.D. Padsalgikar was then with the Intelligence Bureau and posted in the city.)

The SIMI operative was quickly identified as Saquib Nachan. But when the Crime Branch went to arrest him in his village Padgha (in Thane district) locals prevented them. Nachan later filed a writ in court against the charges levelled against him. The court asked him to surrender, which he did.

Claims responsibility

One official said Nachan was ‘hard’ (what the police call a particularly tough and callous criminal); another called him ‘committed, intelligent and motivated.’ Nachan told his interrogators, “ Jo kiya, sab maine kiya. Kyon kiya, kaise kiya, aur kaun tha, who sab jaane do .” (What was done was done by me. As to why, how or who else was with me, forget about it.”)

The police persisted, and eventually the information they got from him helped the Crime Branch identify and arrest several members of the module that he had put together to execute his acts of terrorism.

An officer told The Hindu , “What stumped us when we arrested the members of the module was that they were all educated, financially sound men of diverse ages, unlike the uneducated and poor young men we had arrested for the 1993 serial blasts. This showed us how far the poison of radicalisation had spread, and also gave us an idea of how effective a recruiter Nachan was.”

22 killed, scores trapped after Kolkata flyover comes crashing down
http://www.hindustantimes.com/india/18- ... CMelJ.html
An under-construction flyover collapsed in a congested Kolkata market on Thursday, killing at least 22 people and trapping hundreds underneath giant steel frames and concrete slabs.
Around 250 metres of the 2.2 kilometre-long Vivekananda Road flyover crashed onto dense traffic around 12.30 pm near one of Kolkata’s most important business districts, Burrabazar. The official death toll was 19.
Close circuit camera footage showed people, cars, buses, autorickshaws and hawkers getting crushed as the massive concrete structure crashed on the busy street underneath.
A bloody hand from under a girder gestured for help as people handed over water bottles to survivors pinned underneath. At the Calcutta Medical College Hospital (CMCH), blood covered the entire floor as people frantically looked for familiar faces among the dead and injured.“It is nothing but an act of God. So far in 27 years we have constructed several number of bridges...it never happened,” said K Panduranga Rao of the Hyderabad-based IVRCL, the company building the flyover.Local residents said casting was done on a portion of the collapsed structure on Wednesday night.

India opts not to join terror database - The Hindu
The aim was to sign the pact in the next Homeland Security Dialogue to be attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and his U.S. counterpart Jeh Johnson, Secretary of Homeland Security.

However, the proposed agreement has now been dropped from the agenda reportedly due to the objections from Indian intelligence agencies. “It has been taken off from the agenda,” said a senior officer privy to the development.

On Tuesday, the issue of the terror database was not discussed at all during a preparatory meeting for the Homeland Security Dialogue attended by Assistant Secretary in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Alan Bersin and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs M. Gopal Reddy. The U.S. has already finalised such agreements with 30 countries.

The database includes name of the terror suspect, nationality, date of birth, photos, finger prints (if any), and passport number.

That looks massive. Did they drill horizontally to place the charge? Otherwise, disturbed road might have raised the suspicion of the lookouts in the vehicle. My heart goes out to these jawans who are dying by the scores to the Maoists. Our tactics have to change.

you are probably right.

There is an embankment for the road and they seem to have tunneled horizontally to place the massive charge.

our politicos light the fuse and these CRPF chaps pay the price. Every govt vehicle should by force carry a senior commie or naxalite as passenger on every trip

The IDB Group has been present in India since 1983, when it started a scholarship programme under which 4,190 students have benefited, he said, adding it has also helped 250 other projects in the country.{Now we know why wahhabism has entrenched itself in some pockets in the country}

We have to have ARC do some photo reconnaissance before CRPF movement in these areas. Even satellites must be used. We cannot and should not allow our brave CRPF jawans die like this. A determination must be made that all resources will be thrown against the Maoists and it will be a fight to finish.

Islamic Bank name should never be allowed in India. It represent more than a name but a system which India has long memory of oppression.
If they want to do financing inisde India it can be called as special banking system.

Foreign culture and foreign name should never be used inside India.
