After paris attacks, permanent emergency measures were put in french constitution. There was lot of protest and resistance from french people. But the french govt seems determined for more such security powers including surveilance. After the Brussels attack, they will be able to keep and expand the permanent emergency.

Precisely !

The hand behind the terror attacks on EU would be the the same hand which pushed EU nations to open their doors for Islamics since 60s up to the present Syrian inflows - all supposedly to make up the labor shortage in these countries (as opposed to say Indians ,Chinese or southern Africans or latinos who were in far greater numbers willing to leave their overpopulated countries in those decades)
So in what were originally ethnically homogenous countries like Germany,Sweden or Norway one now finds large concentrations of pakis, turkis and other assorted malsi nationalities who are most liable to turn rabid and bite at the majority.

The leftist establishments in these countries would have eagerly legitimized the demographic engineering pushed by massa arguing that multicultural societies (where there is no majority but only pliable minorities) are least likely to bring "fascist" challengers like Hitler to power.Massa in the 21st century activated this strategic advantage against an integrating europe starting since Iraq invasion and continuing to Syria and ISIS - and unleashed this current spate of islamist terror.

This is in contrast to countries like Japan and SoKo who have negotiated to keep their homogeneity(and escape from calibrated islamist terrorism which massa uses as a geopolitical tool) with former giving up its military capability and the latter opening itself for massa based EJs as alternate levers.

Most rednecks or skinheads are prone to believe that them dutty Jews are behind this global cabal - and paint as if massa is also a victim - but I feel massa has the most advantage in this arrangement while it relentlessly assimilates its carefully filtered immigrants using the ideology of capitalism ("no handouts" and the other ideals of "american work ethic"), the leftist establishments in European nations establish welfare states to fatten their vote banks and create entitlement cultures which encourage the malsi minorities to breed like rabbits and bring in more of their berthen from their home to settle in the ever welcoming European nations.

One should only expect that more in the mold of Breivik are on the way - and the enterprising type may even take aim at massa apart from the local leftist hand maidens.

Infosys engineer missing after Brussels blasts
http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/k ... epage=true
An Indian software engineer working with Infosys has been reported as missing in Brussels following the bomb blasts that shook the Belgian capital on Tuesday.Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj confirmed in a tweet that while no Indian casualties were reported, efforts were on to trace the techie.Having joined Infosys for training in Bengaluru and Pune, Raghavendran Ganeshan was sent to Belgium nearly four years back to work with a telecommunications company there. His colleagues in Brussels, who were contacted by The Hindu, said the blast at the metro station was on the route he takes daily for work. Since the blasts, however, there has been no contact with Mr. Ganeshan, who hails from Tamil Nadu.Dhaval Ved, his colleague in Brussels, said it has been more than 24 hours since contact with Mr. Ganeshan stopped. His colleagues have been circulating information through social media in an attempt to get more information.

The airport suspect in white coat either did not detonate his device or some thing went wrong with it, he is still on the run, has been identified by Belgians and hiding some where, apparently he was carrying largest bum of all and had it gone off damage would have been far more.

Apparently their taxi driver recognized the pictures and remembered that they wouldn't let him handle the luggage. he led them to the apartment and police found lots of incriminating stuff.
The third man abandoned his suitcase. The police blew it up. That was the third blast sound at the airport.

Don't know if the third guy was like the Paris attacker who abandoned his mission or it just didn't go off.

From the details of the apartment raid the police have definite connection between the Paris and Brussels attackers.

Meantime ISIS types claimed the Brussels was preplanned but date advanced due to the arrest of the Paris guy last week.

Media is all over the place with spirit of Belgium stories while the real issue is to get to the modus operandi to prevent future attacks,

One of my thinking is that the Brussels guys got spooked in a 'use it or lose it" situation.
Maybe the goat (Bakraoui) brothers should have been rounded up anyway as they had a criminal record.

Comparing to San Bernadino attack, looks like Europe modules use IEDs and US modules use guns. Both attack public gatherings to kill people.

Brussels attacks: suicide bomber was known militant deported from Turkey to Europe

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... -live.html

Brussels terrorists had planned FOUR bombs at airport but were forced to leave one behind when they were sent a car instead of a minivan
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... nivan.html

The guy on run is chemical expert and is assumed to have designed Paris sossai vests.
Undoubtedly Europe is in chaos and confusion regarding how to tackle this menace, some of the countries are soft on migrants (Sweden) where as others are not ready to take any
But these militants were local, Belgians, nothing to do with migrant crisis. So there is an army of home grown jihadis as well apart to deal with migrant militants.

For subjects inclined to risk lives, cooking is never going to be difficult. The boston lot were far less qualified and sophisticated, yet managed to change the whole conversation.

In the end, one should note that the israelis havent achieved zero casualty rate with their draconian rules. There is no hope for places where you can not kennel this minority similarly.

The immediate effects are nothing ground breaking, given all the london events and what not. It is the over reaction that will set the stage for real damage in the future. And most of the damage will be socioeconomic.

Media captionCol Hubert Bonneau, head of the GIGN, on why his forces were not used in Paris attacks
The grim statistics were the result: 130 people dead and almost 700 injured. Five days after the attacks he had commanded, Abaaoud was killed in a safe house in St Denis, a suburb of Paris - a suicide bomber hiding with him detonated a suicide vest.
Image copyrightAlamyImage caption French security forces fired thousands of rounds at the flat in St Denis where Abaaoud took refuge
Tuesday's attacks in Brussels clearly indicate that the IS network is still at large and no-one knows where and when it may strike next.

That's the nightmare that keeps the intelligence services awake at night.

However intense their efforts to keep us all safe, they can never guarantee 100% security against such a ruthless and sophisticated enemy.

As Alain Winants, the former head of Belgium's MI5, warns. "I fear that in the West we will have to live for the coming years with the threats of that kind of terrorism."

Van Leeuw said Bakraoui's "will" said he was "in a rush", and "I don't know what to do ... hunted everywhere ... no longer safe", adding that "I don't want to end up in a cell next to him"..
.
That appeared to be a reference to Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam, who is reportedly linked to Bakraoui, and who is in custody in Belgium after being captured last week..
.
The computer on which Ibrahim wrote the will was dumped in a trash can in the same street in the Brussels district of Schaarbeek where investigators found an unexploded bomb, an Islamic State group flag and bomb-making materials last night..

Prosecutors confirmed that they had found 15 kilos of TATP high explosive in the flat.
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Brus ... 530740.cms
so analysis by Garus here that this attack was knee jerk reaction to Paris arrest is correct.

US I believe tracks the sale of sensitive materials very carefully now, after the timothy mcveigh thing...they dont lack in homegrown people with a grudge against the govt + newbie IS trying to make a splash. anything in suspicious quantity is tracked....so buying up that stuff from various places in small lots but destined to the same delivery addr will also raise some flag in tools analyzing commerce data 24x7 and trying to build linkages.

every person, every phone#, every address and every PO box probably has a file associated and that anything that goes in and out thats interesting gets added to that file. when certain 'market triggers' are hit, human analysts must be called in.

Brussels attacks: How Saudi Arabia's influence and a deal to get oil contracts sowed seeds of radicalism in Belgium

excerpts
There are many reasons why Belgium has become a hotbed of radical Islamism. Some of the answers may lie in the implanting of Saudi Salafist preachers in the country from the 1960s.

Keen to secure oil contracts, Belgium’s King Baudouin made an offer to Saudi King Faisal, who had visited Brussels in 1967: Belgium would set up a mosque in the capital, and hire Gulf-trained clerics.

At the time, Belgium was encouraging Moroccan and Turkish workers to come into the country as cheap labour. The deal between the two Kings would make the mosque their main place of worship.

Most gang members are dead. Bomb maker is dead. And in fact suicided.
Now next city will be attacked by new module.
Europe modus operandi is IED.

I think the Western Europeans should recruit More Albanians and Bosnians in their Military and Police setups, this will give the healing touch to combat Muslim terrorism, Especially like in early 1990's and like David Miliband resolving Kashmir as per Pakistan's wishes would solve India-Pakistan problems.

Why Belgium? - Martin Kettle, The Guardian
Terrorist violence is a global problem. Cities across the world all have to be on their guard. Although it is Brussels that dominates the headlines now, the explosions there came only hours after jihadi gunmen attacked a European Union (EU) military training base in Bamako in Mali. Yet while the problem may be global, the ingredients are almost always specific and local too.

Any authoritative explanation of what happened in Brussels, and how and why, will require weeks of patient granular forensic scrutiny and information gathering on the ground. But there may, in addition, also be a longer view to take in order to more fully understand how the capital city of Belgium is currently so often in the terrorist front line. Why Belgium?

The making of Belgium

It surely matters to some degree that Belgium is a “weak” nation state embodying a precarious national idea. Julius Caesar may have fought the tribes he called the Belgae, but in historical terms Belgium is also a recently invented country, with shallower roots and more conditionally constructed institutions than many other European states. In some ways Belgium resembles the kind of country that colonial powers created in 19th-century Africa and the Middle East, a country drawn on a map to suit the interest of powerful others.

In Belgium’s case, the most important of these powerful others was Britain. In the aftermath of the Brussels uprising of 1830 — probably the only political revolution in European history to begin in a riot in an opera house — Britain moved decisively to oversee the creation of Belgium as a buffer state between France and the Netherlands. Britain did this to ensure that Antwerp and the mouth of the river Scheldt did not come under hostile control or become “a standing menace to the Thames”, as the Victorian Prime Minister Lord Salisbury once put it. Belgian independence and neutrality was even guaranteed by a treaty of London, crafted by Lord Palmerston in 1839, in defence of whose principles Britain went to war in 1914. The country may be Belgium — but it was Made in Britain.

Belgium’s weak state reflects the fundamental fact that roughly three-fifths of Belgium’s modern population lives in Flanders, is Flemish speaking, and has deep cultural connections with the modern Netherlands to the north; meanwhile the other two-fifths are French-speaking Walloons, once prosperous but now increasingly economically marginalised and linked culturally with France to the south. The result from day one of Belgium’s history has been a compromised federal state, loosely held together by a constitutional monarchy originally installed by the British.

Belgium’s institutions inescapably reflect that disjunction. In the political crisis of 2010-11, the country had no elected government for 589 days because of the enduring cultural divide. Almost every aspect of lived experience in Belgium — politics, work, media, universities and civil society — is divided on linguistic grounds. Two-thirds of the inhabitants of Flanders expect the country to fall apart, according to a 2007 poll. The looseness of these ties means that Belgium may lack some of the tools and resiliences that other more unified states possess — even if they do not always use them very well — to deal with terrorism.

This has created three consequences that surely have some bearing on the emergence of Brussels as such an important incubator of the terrorist problems of the last few months. The first is the relative weakness and mutual suspicion between Belgian security institutions, which are notoriously reluctant to share information with another, in part because they reflect and are answerable to differing constituencies and conceptions of Belgian security.

The second is Belgium’s long-standing relaxation of borders with its neighbours, reflected first in the Benelux customs agreement dating from 1944 and now in the EU’s Schengen visa-free travel area. The result of this is that Belgium has always been one of the easiest European countries to enter and leave, with very little defence not just against the movement of undesirables — which is accentuated by the rivalries between institutions within Belgium and across the EU — but also against the traffic of arms and explosives.

The third is that Belgium, as the prototypical post-national state within an EU that is itself conceived almost as a Greater Belgium, is now established as the home to most of the institutions of the EU. This makes Brussels a target for jihadi terrorists who want to ferment a conflict in Europe between the states and institutions of Europe on the one hand, and Muslims on the other.

None of this is to say that terrorists are incapable of mounting attacks which take much stronger states than Belgium by surprise. France, after all, is a classic “strong” state with strong institutions and a unified sense of nationhood. But Belgium’s inherent weakness, which dates from a distant era in European politics, is also now Europe’s weakness too — and on Tuesday the terrorists showed that they know how to take advantage of it. — © Guardian Newspapers Limited, 2016

Trump like Bush is best for our interests. He does not understand these game theories of intellectuals like Clinton and Obama on how giving F 16 to Pukes is a good thing for fighting terrorism! he only knows - Good guys and bad guys. thats it. bomb the hell out of bad guys. Reports of police raid at Chaussee D'Ixelles
A man has been arrested and his car seized at Chaussee D'Ixelles, according to Belgian news website L'avenir.net.
It said the man was detained at 10am while his vehicle, a BMV series five, was taken in by police, citing eyewitnesses.
A large police presence is on the scene.

Matthew Holehouse in Brussels writes:

Chaussee D'Ixelles is a major shopping street, that leads down to one of the more hipster part of town. It comes out at a major junction overlooked by The Hotel, where President Obama stayed on his visit to Brussels. It's just 200 yards from the Palais de Justice and the Federal Prosecutor's office.

Hungarian minister - cut phone lines in areas hit by terror

Hungary's interior minister says the government wants to limit phone calls in the vicinity of any future terror attack to prevent the overload of communications networks and avoid interference with emergency and rescue services.

Interior Minister Sandor Pinter said Thursday that civilians would be restricted to sending only text messages in areas affected by any attack. The concept's technical aspects would be developed jointly with the telecommunications companies.

Pinter said networks frequently collapse after attacks because of the large number of people wanting to get in touch with friends or relatives.

Pinter said another alternative would be to expand an exclusive radio network already used by police and the disaster management agency to other emergency services like firefighters, ambulances and hospitals.

Abdeslam 'wants to explain himself in France'
Henry Samuel in Paris writes:

Salah Abdeslam claims he "wasn't aware" of the impending Brussels attacks that killed 31 and wounded 300, his lawyer has said.

However, after insisting his client was "cooperating" with investigators after his arrest last Friday, Sven Mary, his lawyer, told Europe 1 radio that he had refused to talk on Wednesday after the blasts.

The French station asked Mary on Wednesday night whether he had cooperated that day, to which he can be heard saying: "No."

He added: "I think that he wanted to see me first because he was visited by detectives yesterday. "I wouldn't want him to clam up over lots of things. If he stopped talking, it would run the risk of more Zaventem and other Bataclans. Perhaps that is perhaps what I want to avoid."

He added that Abdeslam wanted to leave for France as soon as possible. "I am going to see the investigating magistrate so that she doesn't oppose him leaving. He has understood that here is only a small part of the dossier. He wants to explain himself in France, that's a good thing."

Photofit of 'second metro bomber' released
Rory Mullholland in Paris writes:

Belgian police have released a photofit ID of a second suspect in the attack on a metro train in Brussels in which one suicide bomber has already been confirmed dead, local media said.

The federal police have not officially issued the photofit but it was carried on several Belgian news websites.

Police sources said a man with a large bag had been seen next to bomber Khalid El Bakraoui on CCTV footage at Maalbeek station. Another source said Bakraoui was seen talking to a man who did not get into the train carriage with him.

Abdeslam 'changed his mind about extradition'
"Salah Abdeslam told me that he wishes to leave for France as soon as possible," Mary said. "I will ask the investigating magistrate not to oppose his departure."

He added: "The most important part of the file is in France. His explanations have to go there."

Rushed job? The arrest of Salah Abdeslam may have prompted the Brussels bombers to act while they still could

Britons in blast being treated at Leuven hospital
David Chazan in Brussels writes:

Two Britons injured in the airport blasts are being treated at Leuven hospital, an official said. Family members are there but have told the hospital they don not wish to speak to reporters. The hospital has not given any details of the patients' injuries or their condition.

Abdeslam 'has not assisted police with their Brussels attacks investigation'

Rory Mulholland in Paris writes:
Salah Abdeslam, the alleged Paris attacker currently in a Belgian jail, has not helped police with their investigation of Tuesday's deadly Brussels bombings, his lawyer Sven Mary said.

Investigators went to the high-security prison in Bruges on Tuesday after the attacks that killed 31 people and wounded 270 to talk to Abdeslam, Mr Mary told RTL radio.

The lawyer was asked by the interviewer if the suspect had provided any information to police about the Brussels attackers, who Belgian prosecutors say were part of the same jihadist gang that carried out last November's attacks in Paris.

"No," replied Mr Mary, who said he had also gone to the Bruges prison to see his client after the Brussels attacks.

Mr Mary had said after Abdeslam's arrest last week that his client was collaborating with police in their probe of the Paris assaults.

Brussels attacks: How Saudi Arabia's influence and a deal to get oil contracts sowed seeds of radicalism in Belgium - Leo Cendrowicz, The Independent
There are many reasons why Belgium has become a hotbed of radical Islamism. Some of the answers may lie in the implanting of Saudi Salafist preachers in the country from the 1960s.

Keen to secure oil contracts, Belgium's King Baudouin made an offer to Saudi King Faisal, who had visited Brussels in 1967: Belgium would set up a mosque in the capital, and hire Gulf-trained clerics.

At the time, Belgium was encouraging Moroccan and Turkish workers to come into the country as cheap labour. The deal between the two Kings would make the mosque their main place of worship.

Brussels already had the perfect place. An oriental pavilion designed by Belgian architect Ernest Van Humbeek had been built in the capital's Cinquantenaire park in 1879, but was falling into disuse. The 1967 deal gave the Saudis a 99-year, rent-free lease. The pavilion was refashioned by the Saudis, opening in 1978 as the Great Mosque of Brussels, as well as the seat of the Islamic and Cultural Centre of Belgium (ICC).

Although the mosque was treated as the official voice of Muslims in Belgium, its radical Salafist teachings came from a very different tradition to the Islam of the new immigrants. Today, there are around 600,000 people of Moroccan and Turkish origin in Belgium, a country of 11 million.

"The Moroccan community comes from mountainous regions and rift valleys, not the desert. They come from the Maliki school of Islam, and are a lot more tolerant and open than the Muslims from other regions like Saudi Arabia," says George Dallemagne, a Belgian member of parliament for the centre-right CDH, an opposition party. "However, many of them were re-Islamified by the Salafist clerics and teachers from the Great Mosque. Some Moroccans were even given scholarships to study in Medina, in Saudi Arabia."

Dallemagne says the Salafist clerics have tried to undermine attempts by Moroccan immigrants to integrate into Belgium. "We like to think Saudi Arabia is an ally and friend, but the Saudis are always engaged in double-talk: they want an alliance with the West when it comes to fighting Shias in Iran, but nonetheless have a conquering ideology when it comes to their religion in the rest of the world," he said.

Dallemagne has sponsored many resolutions in the Belgian parliament aimed at loosening ties with Saudi Arabia, and reducing the Salafist influence in Belgium. "We can't have a dialogue with countries that want to destabilise us," he says. "The problem is that it is only recently that authorities are finally opening their eyes to this."

The mosque has sought to send a strong message opposing the latest attacks, with Mohamed Ndiaye, one of the centre's imams, releasing a statement in the aftermath: "We would like to express our deep sorrow over the Paris attacks. Our thoughts are with the people of Paris and the victims' families." Other officials have also come out to repeat the message that Islam is a religion of peace and has nothing to do with the terrorists of Molenbeek.

But the mosque remains a concern for the Belgian government: in August, a WikiLeaks cable revealed that a staff member of the Saudi embassy in Belgium was expelled years ago over his active role in spreading the extreme so-called Takfiri dogma. The cable - between the Saudi King and his Home Minister - referred to Belgian demands that the ICC's Saudi director, Khalid Alabri, should leave the country, saying that his messages were far too extreme, and that his status as director meant he should not be preaching anyway.
There is growing Saudi influence in India too. The upcoming Modi visit also envisages some close Saudi institution building in India. That should be discouraged.

I thought Saudi funds to India were being diverted from building high-walled madrassahs to DMIC and other urban projects. Wasn't this the deal that began to be brokered even during UPA time?

Frustration with Belgians had been mounting for months

Frustration had been mounting for several months in US over Brussels' handling of its worsening Islamic militant threat, American intelligence officials have revealed.
Chief among their criticisms is an apparent reticence by Belgian intelligence agencies to share information with and work with foreign countries, including close allies.

In one case, US officials told Reuters, a top US counter-terrorism official traveling in Europe wanted to visit Brussels to learn more about the investigations following the November Paris attacks. The Belgians reportedly indicated that it was a bad time to speak to foreign officials as they were too busy with the investigation.

Another US government source said that when American investigators try to contact Belgian agencies for information, they often struggle to find which agency or part of an agency might have relevant information.
Belgian security agencies are working to respond to the fact that Belgium has supplied the highest number of foreign fighters to Syria of any European nation.
"Add to that the problem of two languages (French and Flemish), lack of Arabic speakers, and weak coordination between national and local government, you have a huge discrepancy between threat and response," said Bruce Riedel, a former CIA official and White House advisor, now at the Brookings Institution.

Belgians are going through rel shok. They thought that such things happens only in far-flung uncivilised world. This is what you hear on street

White Belgian: We are civilised people here and such things should not be tolerated. When point the fatal flaw in the Airport security the say but this is Europe and in Europe we are not used to police or military security checks.
Black African (Congo): Belgian were unfair with us. They colonized us but still we have to take visa and we are not given proper documents (to stay here) for 10s of years.Arabic people are treated as special guests. I agree.
British: We knew Belgians were not competent. That is why they are in this mess.
US citizens: Belgians are funny. They fight amongst themselves for two languages how they can fight ISIS?
New European (read Poland): Belgian know nothing; human rights? What human rights. We do not want any f**king Arab here.
Indians: we knew this coming. Have you seen you airport and metro security? Actually we are puzzled what why they(militants) took so long to figure it out.
Chinese: What? What are you talking about. I do not know anything I am busy in my work.

So today's updates:

Two attackers sought in Brussels.

Bomb maker still on the run.

The Paris attacker wants to go back to France!
More bakwas about why Belgium is/should/will be target from US officials on quasi official NPR!
And the joke is most terrorists are incubated by US projects gone wrong.
And Ombaba still talks of destroying ISIS since last two years!!!

If US gets hold of any country really fighting terrorists, they destroy the evidence and force them to kowtow to the terrorists and their supporters.

Followed by artificial state of Belgium created by UK by putting together French(Walloons) and Dutch (Flemish) and giving them a King!!!!

Don't forget Belgium had its share of atrocities in Africa in Belgian Congo.
But preferred North Africa Moroccan immigrants to Congolese.

Human rights of offenders are taken more seriously then those of victims. Everybody complains about this in Belgium. It is very common for not jailing an dangerous criminal because there is no place in prison. I personally have examples. One of my retail outlet was attacked but Punjabi guys (worker) managed to attack back. Attacker left BMW bike and ran away. He was caught by police afterward but I had no right to know the name of the offender. salam
