Meanwhile Albright says Russia is just Bangladesh with nuclear weapons

Albright called Russia "Bangladesh, only with nuclear weapons"

http://ria.ru/world/20160419/1415104937.html
MOSCOW, April 19 -. RIA Novosti Former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright in an interview with Die Presse said that Russia is constantly provoking other countries, and then presents himself insulted.

"I'm fed up with the fact that Moscow's actions are constantly looking for an excuse," - she said.

According to Albright, Russia launched an operation in Syria, only to distract world public opinion from the Ukraine and to strengthen its influence in the Middle East.

Putin at the hands of bad cards, but he plays them quite correctly, says former US Secretary of State. At the same time the actions the president of Russia is trying to discredit and split the European Union, and to expel NATO from the zone of influence, said Madeleine Albright.

As Albright says Putin supports nationalism in the country in order to hide the fact that Russia - in fact "only Bangladesh's nuclear arsenal."

Aoa takbeer

Russia’s strategic bomber, the Tupolev Tu-160, is to be rejuvenated. After a 24-year break, production of a modernised version of the Tu-160 is due to begin. From 2023, Moscow wants to acquire 50 units. At present that is all we know. This is almost a return to its origins because the Tu-160’s history dates back to the Cold War. Developed during the 70’s, the Russian bomber entered service in 1987, with 36 units being built up to 1992.

Since it resembled the bird, and its colour, the Russians nicknamed it the "White Swan" (NATO’s code name is "Blackjack"). The Tu-160 is the world’s biggest supersonic bomber, capable of attaining 1,100 mph (1,800 km/h). Its main visible features, are the variable geometry wings that allow it to optimise its flight performance, giving it a wingspan of between 115 feet and 180 feet (35 m - 55 m).

For performing long missions, up to 7,400 miles (12,000 km) range without refuelling, the Tu-160’s four onboard occupants are provided with a galley and sleeping quarters. Finally, the bomber, has two ventral bomb bays able to accommodate 88,000 lbs (40 metric tons) of weaponry, such as 12 long-range cruise missiles.

At present, sixteen Tu-160’s are still in service with the Russian air force.

Amazing statement from "mad-Bbright",showing that her nickname is well deserved. Imagine that little "Bangladesh" (with N-weapons) could tame the horrendous ISIS,plus Syrian rebels backed by the West and the Saudi-Sunni-Ottoman consortium without resorting to its N-arsenal.What a giant killer this little nation run by Putin must be! Ignoramuses and cretins like MadBright should be put to pasture. This mad cow needs to chew the cud and fart contentedly in some rural pension paradise...Bangladesh perhaps? :rotfl:

Moments ago, it was revealed to al-Masdar News that Major General Suheil al-Hassan (nicknamed the Tiger) has been redeployed to the Palmyra frontline. This news comes as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has made fresh gains north of Palmyra in the past 24 hours, thus capturing the al-Mazar Mountains and the Brigade 550 Army Base. However, ISIS simultaneously conducted a major offensive inside Deir Ezzor city which had their fighters wrestle the al-Sina’ah district and Industrial Center from government troops. With the majority of the Tiger Forces still stationed at the Palmyra frontline, these elite Syrian soldiers are expected to strike eastwards along the M7-Highway and eventually break the ISIS-imposed siege on the provincial capital of Deir Ezzor. Meanwhile, as ISIS commanders are well aware of the upcoming government offensive towards Deir Ezzor, they now have every incentive to launch assaults on Deir Ezzor city. More specifically, they are expected to target the Deir Ezzor Airbase which represents a vital logistical lifeline for entrenched government troops in the city. Nevertheless, the redeployment of the Tiger General also spells the temporal abandonment of the Aleppo city offensive which seemed to lack sufficient support of Russian Air Force. Meanwhile, new morning reports indicate that SAA troops – spearheaded by the Tiger Forces – are making further advances north of Palmyra, thereby striking deep into ISIS territory held by jihadist militants since 2014.

Seems like they need to break the Deir ez Zor siege once and for all instead of whizzing around between Palmyra and Latakia and Aleppo - appears to be some serious case of the jitters in Damascus.

seems like divergence between iran and russia on course of the war.

russia wants to protect latakia and tartous at all costs and spend rest on fighting the ISIS in the east.

iran and hezbollah are deeply committed to freeing besieged shia population of aleppo and in islanded towns like fuah and kafraya in idlib. they already took the lead in nubl and zahraa lifting the siege. so mainly all their units are in aleppo as also the iraqi and afghani shia volunteers.

reports of suleimani visiting moscow to smooth things and get everyone on same page again.

also russia apparently wants suheil al hassan to take the point on major anti-IS offensives because of trust factor and thats why he keeps getting shunted to every hotspot.

Nasty visit for O'Bomber to Soothi Barbaria. Barbarians are fuming at lack of US support for its ME agenda and grandiose ambitions.

Barack Obama urged to rule out trading US cluster bombs for Saudi favour
Exclusive: Rights groups call on president to act on use of controversial munitions during visit to kingdom
Adam Withnall

President Obama walks with Saudi King Salman at Erga Palace upon arriving for a summit meeting in Riyadh Reuters
Barack Obama has been urged to use his visit to Saudi Arabia to rule out selling controversial cluster bombs to the kingdom amid mounting evidence they have been used against civilians in Yemen.

The US President’s visit came amid increasing tension between the two allies over America’s ever-closer relationship with Iran, as well as the potential release of documents purportedly linking Saudi officials to the 9/11 terror attacks.

White House officials said Mr Obama and Gulf leaders were set to discuss “deeper cooperation” in the fight against Isis alongside broader talks over ways to “resolve regional conflicts”.

But the President has also come under pressure to use the opportunity to raise a range of issues with the Saudi human rights record – not least its indiscriminate Yemeni bombing campaign.

Speaking to The Independent, representatives for Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and the Campaign Against Arms Trade said it was time for Mr Obama to take a stand over the Saudi-led air strikes which have killed more than 3,200 civilians in little over a year and could amount to war crimes.

23-yemen-bomb-get.jpg
Human Rights Watch says that it has evidence of US-supplied cluster bombs being used at least five times in Yemen (Getty)
Human Rights Watch has repeatedly presented the Pentagon with evidence to suggest US cluster bombs have been used by the Saudi-led coalition since the start of the conflict in Yemen.

The organisation’s Yemen researcher Belkis Wille said she has spent months scrambling through the rubble of civilian buildings destroyed by American- and British-supplied bombs.

“I personally have seen those cluster bombs used in Yemen in unlawful ways, the way you cannot use them [under international law], in or near civilian-populated areas,” she told The Independent.

The US and Saudi Arabia are not signatories of the international treaty banning cluster munitions outright, and a deal to sell a specific type of cluster bomb to Saudi Arabia was given the green light by the US Congress prior to the Yemen crisis.

Saudi threatens to sell off US assets if Congress passes 9/11 bill
State Department officials have previously vowed to put pressure on their Saudi counterparts over “reports of civilian harm” in Yemen, while US laws over cluster munitions exports were made much stricter in 2009.

But rights groups said Mr Obama must show leadership and rule out future deals to trade cluster bombs for the kingdom’s favour.

“Congress has said we cannot sell to countries that use them near civilian-populated areas, and after what we at Human Rights Watch have witnessed in this war it would be unconscionable for the US to sell clusters to Saudi Arabia ever again,” Ms Wille said.

“We are calling for a ban on all cluster bombs in the future, but we also want a complete arms embargo on Saudi, particularly on the side of the US but also on the UK, until it changes its behaviour in the context of this war.

“World leaders like Obama need to play that card,” she said. “Cutting off the tap on this massive flow of arms is what will get the attention of the Saudis and nothing less than that.”

Amnesty International published an open letter ahead of Mr Obama’s visit to Saudi Arabia, part of a world tour including Britain and then Germany, urging the President not to ignore human rights issues during his trip.

10 examples of Saudi Arabia's human rights abuses

And joining the call for action over cluster bombs, Amnesty International UK’s Arms Control Director Oliver Sprague told The Independent: “Selling cluster bombs to Saudi Arabia was always a jaw-droppingly irresponsible thing to do and President Obama should make it clear during the trip that this will end once and for all.

“With US-made cluster munitions killing and mutilating Yemeni countless civilians in the Saudi-led onslaught there, now is the time for the USA to finally agree to ban these appalling weapons.

Mr Sprague said the UK’s “murky” role in the use of Saudi cluster bombs also “needs to be made clear”, after the Ministry of Defence confirmed the British military was “supporting Saudi forces” in Yemen.

“Ministers need to give crystal-clear assurances that no British personnel or British equipment has been in any way involved in Saudi Arabia’s use of these weapons,” he said.

Campaign Against Arms Trade says UK arms sales to Saudi Arabia now amount to £2.8 billion since the bombing of Yemen began in March last year.

CAAT spokesman Andrew Smith said the reported use of cluster munitions was “another terrible reminder of the devastating impact that the bombing has had on Yemen”.

“Cluster bombs are deadly,” he said. “They are immoral and they kill indiscriminately. Their use underlines the contempt that the Saudi Air Force has for human rights.

“For decades now, successive British and American governments have given an uncritical backing to the Saudi regime. They have been complicit in the repression it uses against its own citizens, as well as the humanitarian catastrophe it has unleashed on Yemen.”

Yemen is currently operating under a ceasefire agreement made on 10 April in Kuwait but, according to Ms Wille, the peace deal has made little difference on the ground.

She said: “I was in Yemen at the time it was announced, and no one had any hope it would make a difference.

“We’ve entered into such a dark place in terms of where the country is going, with the rise of Al-Qaeda and now the new emergence of Islamic State.
