You answered it. Their military equipment is so robust, simple, effective and affordable that they do not need PR wing. Mere discussion look like PR exercise.

There are so many rabidly pro-Russians on this forum (and all over India) that they do not need a PR wing in India

Kilo lines wont last long , Vietnam will receive its 6th and last of 636M contracted for by end of this year.http://www.janes.com/article/57700/viet ... rives-home

Baltic Fleet will receive 6 Kilo 636.3 submarine out of which 5 are already done so 1 more to go http://www.janes.com/article/60917/russ ... -submarine plus Pacific Fleet will get 6 more Kilo of same class , So total 12 to be built for RuN of which 5 are delivered to BSF ,

Export order chance is from Indonesia needed 2 Kilo , I think max 6-8 more years to build 10 subs

Upgrade lines will work longer as India is upgrading 6 Kilo
http://www.janes.com/article/60513/six- ... e-upgraded

Plus the existing Kilo in service both RuN and export customer are closer to 40 Plus which will be eventually upgraded as India does with its Kilo.

From AW subscription
IRKUTSK—Russian jet maker Irkut Corp. on June 7 showed the first Yak-152 light piston engine trainer prototypes being assembled at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant in East Siberia.

The prototype’s first flight is expected to take place this year, according to Sergey Yamalov, the plant’s lean manufacturing director. Three more airframes—one for flight trials and two more for static and endurance tests—can be seen at the assembly line in different states of readiness.

Yakovlev Design Bureau, a part of Irkut Corp., signed a contract with the Russian defense ministry for development of a new aircraft for initial pilot training in 2014. It was based on the basic Yak-54 aerobatic trainer. It features a two-seat cockpit equipped with the SKS-94M catapult system. The Russian M-14X radial engine is now replaced with the more powerful German-made RED A03 diesel aircraft engine. This allows the aircraft to add 550 kg (1,200 lb.) of useful load. According to the designers, it can carry air-to-air missiles or unguided rocket launching pods.

The Yak-152 program seems to be behind schedule. Under the contract, the first prototypes should have been ready by the end of next October, while the completion of flight trials was scheduled for this autumn.

The defense ministry plans to use the Yak-152 for initial pilot training, with further training on Yak-130 advanced jet trainers and Su-30SM two-seat fighters. The latter two types are also manufactured by Irkut. The military plans to buy about 150 Yak-152s, Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov says.

The strangest things in the cockpit of a Russian Su-34
Russia's Su-34 Fullback fighter/bomber jet is in many ways a reworking of the older Su-27 model, but it includes some shockingly homey features, like a "toilet" and a "kitchenette."
Fullback pilots sit side by side like in a car. This saves room in the cockpit as the pilots can share instruments, and do not need duplicates for their separate compartments.

instead of climbing into the cockpit from a rolling staircase like US pilots do, the Russian pilots simply climb up a ladder attached to the landing gear.
Now comes the really amazing part. The cabin is actually big enough to move around in, which is unthinkable in the sleek, streamlined jets the US flies. Pilots can actually lay down in the cabin if they're tired.
Also, they can use this device as a sort of urinal.
And they can pack a lunch, in this handy thermos.

Sigh! :( I've been advocating the IAF acquiring 2 sqds of the same,SU-34s for their dedicated LR tactical/strat bombing ops against Pak and the PRC in Tibet. For dedicated strat bombing,Backfires/Blackjacks are better, but the SU-34s are doing great in Syria.

MC-21: Russians hail new airliner as better than Boeing or Airbus

Siberian-built plane is ‘cool’, says prime minister Dmitry Medvedev, as Kremlin targets foreign sales amid push to revitalise industries hit by sanctions
New Russian MC-21 airliner unveiled at glitzy ceremony -video

Russia has unveiled a medium-range passenger plane that state media hailed as superior in many ways to western-made counterparts.

In a glitzy Siberian ceremony attended by the prime minister, Dmitry Medvedev, the Irkut Corporation rolled out its new MC-21 airliner, which is still undergoing testing but is due to enter serial production in 2017. The plane is sometimes also known as MS-21.

Medvedev hailed the new twin-engine short and medium-range aircraft as “cool”, saying it was important that Russia remained in what he called the top league of aircraft makers despite the high costs involved.

Squeezed by western sanctions over its role in the Ukraine crisis, the Russian government is trying to rejuvenate domestic industrial production to make the country less dependent on foreign firms.

“I only want to say that I am absolutely certain that the airliner will be the pride of Russian civil aviation, and that our citizens and foreign people will take pleasure in flights on MC-21,” said Medvedev.

The plane will be built in two variants: the MC-21-300 which will have 160-211 seats, and the MC-21-200 with 130-165 seats. Deliveries are expected to start in 2018 and state media said numerous contracts with domestic and foreign carriers had already been agreed.

The state-controlled United Aircraft Corporation, of which Irkut is a subsidiary, said the new plane would be able to service routes of up to 6,400km (3,976 miles) and its operational costs would be up to 15% cheaper than current generation aircraft.

Vladimir Volkov, vice-president of Irkut Corporation, said: “It is not made of metal, it is made of composite materials. That allows us to give it a special shape. It is much lighter and stronger so it is a great step in the development of our aviation industry.”

Russia's 6th Generation Stealth Fighter Will Be a Hypersonic Beast
"They have really come up with the designs for the creation of a sixth-generation fighter,” Russian deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin told the Moscow-based TASS News agency in March. “I’m referring also to new design concepts briefly presented by the Sukhoi design bureau and by the general designer appointed for all aircraft systems and armaments.”But while Russia has grand ambitions to build a hypersonic sixth-generation stealth fighter, it is less clear if Moscow has the financial wherewithal to fund such lofty goals. Moreover, there are real questions about the technical feasibility of hypersonic warplanes given that there are many material sciences challenges that have yet to be overcome. Indeed, the United States, for example, has struggled to build a hypersonic test article that can survive more than a few minutes at those speeds. That’s mostly because materials that can survive those kinds of temperatures don’t exist yet—unless Russia has made some sort of heretofore-unknown technical breakthrough.Meanwhile, Russia’s fifth-generation Sukhoi T-50 PAK-FA program is limping along. The stealthy fifth-generation warplane is expected to complete the Russian military’s state trials sometime this year. Sukhoi is set to begin deliveries of production PAK-FA aircraft to the Russian Air Force in 2017.

It could be nice ploy to make rivals spend trillions on trying to develop one! On the other hand, the apparent deliberate revelation about the new Russian LR high-speed torpedo with an astonishing range ,able to take out coastal bases and ports ,is a much more real threat. It will also be v.diffuclt to intercept and destroy. I see more and more money being out into UW assets which are less detectable than previously, even as hypersonic missiles and aircraft are being pursued. The Hyper BMos is eagerly awaited though, but there is little news of it and the Bmos-M programmes having been agreed upon and given the green light.

SVD Dragunov

David Fortier and I take a look at the SVD Dragunov sniper rifle. The SVD Dragunov is one of the most prolific sniper rifles on the modern battlefield. It has an interesting history behind it and I bet you learn a thing or two you didn't know about it in this video. I know I learned a few things in my conversation with David. The SVD in this video belongs to gun writer Marc Vorobiev who is also an Afghan war vet who served in the Soviet military during the 1980's.

Desi PAKDA? Will arrive long after I'm 6ft under! What to do until then? SU-34 is ready and available and could be built in India too.

Good Gorky pics.Interesting location of ASW mortars, below deck panels, more stealthy than on Talwars,Kols,Shivs, etc. What I've suggested earlier as it provides more space for missile silos where the beam is wider.

A great name for it would be the "Locust".Doesn't it resemble one?

Austin, the latest VAYU has a superb comprehensive report by author Sameer Joshi on the Russian mil involvement in Syria.Their strategy, tactics and weaponry used by all branches of their armed forces.DEscriptions of air strikes, from both tactical and strat aircraft, missile strikes,etc.,etc. Of interest also is that of the helos being used, where the KA-52 has come in for special attention as it is being used along with Special force units. The T-90 MBT has also come in for praise as it has successfully weathered various ATGMs like TOW-2,etc.,using Shtora and Arena APS.

The air campaign/strikes however have been the most impressive, with incredible distances covered by long range aviation,Blackjacks,Bears,Backfires, some from their Artic bases flying around Norway, the Channel, into the med and returning via Iraq and Iran back to base, delivering stand-off missiles and other ordnance.

Is that because they ditched RBUs which ate most of the space on our ships?

Generally their ships are over armed for its size , even the 800 T Buyan-M carries 8 Klub.

They carry Paket-NK in ASW/ATT role , wish though they carried 2x RBU's it has its own usefulness ..they are standardizing on Paket-NK not smart I think , I like IN approach of carrying RBU's plus the normal 533 mm torpedo but then I think every navy design its ship per its own need

She is a new design, though broadly the capabilities are similar to what is offered by Talwar class.

IMHO the biggest design innovation is on the mast.

Russia's Pacific Fleet to Order 6 New Diesel-Electric Submarines - Official
Sputnik/ Alexei Danichev
Military & Intelligence
12:19 31.05.2016

The Russian Navy has made a final decision to order the construction of six Varshavyanka-class (NATO reporting name Improved Kilo-class) diesel-electic powered submarines for the Pacific Fleet, Deputy Navy Commander-in-Chief Vice Adm. Alexander Fedotenkov said Tuesday.

ST-PETERSBURG (Sputnik) — Russia’s Admiralty Shipyards launches the last of the six same class submarines for the Black Sea Fleet on Tuesday.

"Your ships are launched on time with high quality valuable for the Navy, the Black Sea Fleet and others. The decision to build a series of submarines for the Pacific Fleet has been made," Fedotenkov said during the launch ceremony.

It remains unknown where the submarines will be stationed, the decision is yet to be made.

It has been reported earlier that the Russian authorities are making unprecedented efforts to improve military infrastructure and rearm units based in Russia's Far East with modern weaponry.

The Varshavyanka-class (Project 636.3) is an improved version of Kilo-class submarines that features advanced stealth technology, extended combat range and the ability to strike land, surface and underwater targets.

The vessels, carrying crews of 52, have a top underwater speed of 20 knots and a cruising range of 400 miles (electric propulsion), with the ability to patrol for 45 days. The submarines are armed with 18 torpedoes and eight surface-to-air missiles.

The submarines are mainly intended for anti-ship and anti-submarine missions in relatively shallow waters.
