The latest russian air attacks are at tabqa. Taking over tabka cuts off direct logistics from Turkey to main ISIS. ISIS instead of having a boundary with turkey will have only boundaries with the kurds. Lake Assad becomes the defacto boundary. I believe this will create conditions for Iran to target ISIS in iraq. Iraq army is useless.

If my estimates are right, after taking tabqa and dividing ISIS, we would see wars fought for Al Bab.

Iraq army has improved a lot since their rout in 2014 and they have pmu in there for support.
Amrika has given them lot of hummers, tanks, artillery
Plus Daesh is not good at set piece fights
More like terrorists playing at being army

I except iraqi army to make good progress up from baiji now. And unlike syria, they do not have manpower shortage and no nusrah shams etc to distract its a 1:n fight not n:m of syria

SIS' hacking organization, the United Cyber Caliphate, has collected details of U.S. air force units, S.Korea warns
NIS: IN the past five years, 50 people suspected of being part of terrorist groups have been deported from S. Korea
Seoul (CNN)ISIS has collected information on 77 U.S. and NATO air force facilities around the world and is calling on supporters to attack them, according to South Korea's intelligence agency.

The terror group has also released information on individuals in 21 countries, including the personal details of one employee of a South Korean welfare organization, the National Intelligence Service (NIS) said in a statement Sunday.
That person is now under protection, the agency said.
The NIS says ISIS' hacking organization, the United Cyber Caliphate, collected details of U.S. air force units in South Korea including Osan Air Base, and addresses and Google satellite maps have been released through the Telegram messaging service.

Iraq army is not very strong because they have a quota system imposed on them by the americans, 25% sunni etc, and those are the guys who take money from isis etc and leave entire cantonments unguarded with all weaponry polished and ready for takeover by the latest upcoming islamic radical force. That is very convenient for isis and it's creator usa but a nuisance for Iraq.

their shia militia and PMU are another affair and those are led by IRGC jernails. those mean business and they are the ones leading the charge in fallujah. The Imam Ali brigade led by Abu Azrael is leading the charge in fallujah, not eyeraqi army.

I hope someone does an analysis of the spearhead vs. logistics tail of the respective national / gang forces.
The NATO nations appear to have a huge tail and "base" with a rather tiny mijjile tip each. 8)
British Aircraft Carrier == 1 RAF flight occasionally, hitting the wrong targets or none at all.
French Aircraft Carrier == 1 Flight de Rafale avec l'escargots et champagne, not even reaching any combat zome.
Now US Aircraft Carrier sending HARRIERS? Wonder why Harriers, which are operated by the Marines. Marine Expeditionary Force swarming ashore under the glare of smoking eyes from behind a thousand ISIS burkhas, straight to the bars of Tripoli? Cairo? Ankara?

The U.S. backed “New Syrian Army” reportedly captured the Al-Zubeida Point in the southeastern countryside of the Homs Governorate on Sunday after a violent battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS). The Al-Zubeida Point is located in the Al-Badiyah area of southeast Homs, which is essentially a large desert area near the Iraqi border-crossing.

TSJi:
See why the 51 Foggy-Bottomed Diplodoormats are basically Their Master's Fa*ts Voices
Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir spoke a day after 51 State Department staff involved in Mideast issues sharply criticized the Obama administration's Syria policy in a formal, classified memo as ineffective and urged a tougher stance, including airstrikes against the Syrian regime.
"We've been arguing for that since the beginning of the crisis," Al-Jubeir said.
He detailed the options Saudi leaders have advocated for, including airstrikes, a no-fly zone, safe haven and more robust arming of the Syrian opposition, including surface-to-air missiles.
"We continue to believe unless we change the balance of power in a dramatic way, that once we do that it will open the way for a political solution," al-Jubeir said.
A senior U.S. administration official pushed back against the Saudi foreign minister's remarks, however, saying the administration made its decisions based on Israeli U.S. interests, not those of other countries.

General Staff: It is Russian patience, not US’, that waning over Syria

More:
http://tass.ru/en/politics/883602[quote]

"If anyone’s patience on Syria is waning, it is our patience, not the United States’. We are in full compliance with our obligations to maintain ceasefire and ensure national reconciliation in Syria. In the meantime, the American side always has problems with the ‘opposition under its control," Gerasimov said.

"Whenever we hear claims from the Pentagon we use communication lines not professionally, it gets clear that they are either ignorant of the existing channels of interaction or get wrong information," Gerasimov said. He pointed to the Russian-US rapid reaction center in Geneva and the hot line for the prevention of incidents in the airspace over Syria.

At the same time Gerasimov recalled that the Russian Defense Ministry had for three months supplied the United States with the locations of Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra targets, but the "US partners are still undecided whether there are opposition forces and where there are ‘turncoats’ from international terrorist organizations."

"As a result terrorists in Syria actively regain strength and tensions soar again. It cannot continue this way indefinitely," Grasimov said.

"In their opinion missile bombardments of Syrian government troops and communities by militants should be considered by all as ‘insignificant violations’ of the ceasefire. But any proportionate response to the militants by the Syrian military are at once declared as disproportionate strikes on the opposition," Gerasimov said.

On Syria, Swaraj said, India, like Russia, supported a peaceful resolution of the issue of whether Bashar al-Assad should be replaced, to be decided by the Syrian people themselves, and expressed support for the Geneva talks, when the ISIS terrorists have been quelled.

stash captured from raqqa isis depot

Image

a lot of uzbek camps were found all around tabqa city. From where did all these uzbeks come from. My guess is they are central asian taliban (uzbek, chechen, uighur types) from FATA/North Waziristan uploaded to Syria in a kunduz airlift type op by TSPA and settled in raqqa and these battle-trained forces became ready made for deployment.

For those who are interested in all matter Uzbeki, the SAAF has struck at Tabqa City and destroyed close to 6 whole areas occupied by mostly Uzbeks. Reports of casualties are vague at this time, but, it is also clear that the United States is deeply disturbed by the successes of the Syrian Army.

US is the true criminal in Syria.

Nothing that the forumites are not aware of already. But details always make the situation clearer.

The Pentagon is in on the ISIS charade and is providing logistics while the CIA is acting more covertly. Remember the 2300 humvees plus untold numbers of other weapons that conveniently fell into ISIS hands when US operatives ran from Mosul (like they did in Aleppo) to hand it all to anti-people terrorists.

Best way to get back at Pentagon is wipe out their terror logistics and show the world their military hardware is all junk. Training camps in Jordan and Turkey as well as the Kurdish proxy armies in Iraq and Syria are good addresses for that. The RuAF attack on Derah pissed them off so much they scrambled F-18 hornets from their carrier group to chase away the Russian Sukhois who returned when the hornets left to bomb the rest including the first responders who were treating wounded US trained terrorists. I bet there were US forces there and thats the real reason for scrambling the fighters.

Somebody said the most important thing with these words: "The U.S., the true criminal in this war against the people of Syria"

Russia is upping the ante, Russia now targeting all terrorists and taking out some US, Kurds (SDF) and other previously 'untouched' agents at the same time. If they carry on with this then I cant see the Americans leaving their special forces on the ground.

Once Raqqa is liberated and ALL of those forces and arms are freed up things will start moving even faster.

Finally one can see some semblance of the strategy that Russia and Syria have been playing. They know that to try and close the border will most likely mean an exchange with Turkish forces.. which will bring in NATO.

So by weakening the hard points of the terrorists inside of Syria first they can close the border and only have to face Turkey instead of being surrounded.

This is why the SDF is pushing Manb1tch. The Americans can see this and they need to keep the corridor open. So instead of ISIS it will now be managed by Kurds. But the same fighters and the same weapons will come through.

The Kurds in Syria have bet a lot on their betrayal.

as GD mentioned, the thin spear of SAA into Al-Raqqa and their thin and absent flanks at various places make them very vulnerable to an ISIS counter attack. Very intense fighting in western Raqqa, ISIS managed to pull a power counter attack against the allied forces in multiple places, the risk was clear since the beginning of the offensive related to the narrow corridor spearheading the offensive, which could allow ISIS at anytime to hit in different spots and cut off troops as soon as ISIS regrouped for a counter offensive, very fluid situation right now, some news coming in that the allies retreated back toward Zakiyah CP but most likely no one knows for sure the current status, the whole thing is evolving too fast.

https://twitter.com/sayed_ridha/status/ ... 7984651265

It is also evident that Russian CAS for Raqqa is absent and bereft of air support this thin spear with exposed flanks and with no reserve forces and no aerial recon is very vulnerable to attacks.

For this offensive to make any difference needs:

1) Parallel offensive in eastern Aleppo to take Dayr Hafir and Jirah airbase thus cutting ISIS from Aleppo Province.
2) Possible advance in Khanaser to protect the road from ISIS raids.
3) Expand the defense perimeter on this spearhead shaped offensive toward Tabqa, either side of the road, but if they do in the direction of the highway Tabqa-Maskaneh the better since they can speed up the take over of Tabqa airbase with that.

First on CNN: Four US military advisers wounded in Syria
Barbara Starr-Profile-Image

By Barbara Starr, CNN Pentagon Correspondent

Updated 2:52 PM ET, Mon June 20, 2016
CIA Directors grave warning: ISIS as dangerous as ever

(CNN)Four U.S. military advisers were lightly wounded earlier this month in northern Syria by attackers who were believed to be part of ISIS, CNN has learned.
The Pentagon has not yet spoken publicly about the June 9 incident, but several defense officials told CNN it happened when an anti-tank round was fired--While the attackers are believed to be ISIS, the U.S. military is not certain of their identity.--

On at least five occasions, American troops have either been wounded or killed in Iraq and Syria when faced with enemy fire while training and assisting U.S.-backed forces.

-----

more likely these were embedded in isis and bombed in RuAF airstrikes on rebels.

the Idlib IEDs continue...
This evening, a roadside bomb (IED) killed seven Islamist fighters and wounded about a dozen more; all the deceased militants were of foreign descent. The bomb blew up near the Military Institution Building in Idlib city. Graphic pictures of the incident are available here. Although no one has claimed responsibility of the bombing, local rebel groups were quick to accuse the Syrian Government and its intelligence apparatus of the attack. Recently, assassinations have occurred on an almost daily basis in the provincial capital of Idlib and its countryside, leaving several commanders dead. Both ISIS sleeper cells and government spies have been accused; however, rebel infighting is a very real possibility as well.
