Pakistan defence minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif threatens to unleash nukes against India

"Tactical weapons joh hain, joh hamne yeh progammes develop kiya hua hai, yeh apne hifazat ke liye develop kiya hua hai. Hamne devices jo hain just as showpieces toh nahin rakhe hue. Lekin agar hamare salamati ko khatra hua, toh hum nestanabhut kar denge unko (Tactical weapons, our programmes that we have developed, they have been developed for our protection. We haven't kept the devices that we have just as showpieces. But if our safety is threatened, we will annihilate them (India)," Asif said in the interview, telecast on September 26. He had made a similar comment on Geo TV on September 17, a day before the terrorist attack in Uri.

Yeah, he did it-whipped out his missile and stroked it for India.

Arnab has been brutal on his 9 o clock segment. He calls these track-two sessions as

ghazal / mushairas programmes
champagne circuits
Lutyens cabal

He also has wised up to the devious ways of re-directing the responses from these traitors when he corners them with uncomfortable questions. Saba Naqvi when completely cornered started whining that since she was a minority she was targetted.

Some of these traitors walk of the show or they start abusing the BJP spokesperson or any RW.

I can think of 4 possibilities:

1) Useless lip service.
2) US got wind of planned military (covert / overt) offensive and hence pressurizing India to not do it.
3) Pakis were trashed properly in covert ops and they complained to their master.
4) Pakis complained to their master about India cornering Pakis in SAARC and threat of IWT review so the master called on behalf of his slave to ask India to cease and desist.

Pakistan's top cleric calls on govt. to execute Ahmadis

Rabwah [Pakistan], Sept. 28 (ANI): Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, chairman of Pakistan's 'Ruet-e-Hilal Committee', has urged the government to execute Ahmadis who according to him do not believe in the finality of Prophet Muhammad.

"According to the constitution of Pakistan, Ahmadis are deniers of KhatmeNabuwat (Finality of Prophethood) and are hence outside the fold of Islam, Since the punishment for not accepting the constitution is execution, those who deny the finality of Prophet Muhammad should also be executed," Rahman was quoted as saying by Rabwah Times when he was speaking at a KhatmeNabuwat rally in the village of Lalian on Saturday.

He added that the young generation should contact Islamic Seminaries in order to save themselves from the propaganda of Ahmadis, insisting that explicit programs on Internet and TV were ruining the youth.

He further said that the first Caliph of Islam destroyed those who denied that Prophet Muhammad was the last Prophet, at the same time Molana Shah Ahmad Norani along with 27 other clerics played a keyhole in having the Ahmadis declared as non-Muslims.

Lalian Village, where the rally took place, is located a few miles from the town of Rabwah, which has the highest concentration of Ahmadis in Pakistan.

Ahmadiyya or the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at is an Islamic religious movement founded in Punjab, British India, near the end of the 19th century. (ANI)

US strengthens military ties with Pakistan
September 28, 2016 10:44 IST
'Here in Delhi, the Modi government is supposedly looking at 'options' to hit back at Pakistan in any whichever way it can, while in Washington, the Obama administration is looking for ways to strengthen US military cooperation with Pakistan,' says Ambassador M K Bhadrakumar.
The meeting of the United States-Pakistan Defence Consultative Group, which was held in Rawalpindi on September 21, carries profound symbolism.
Although the attack on the Indian Army camp, which India insists was Pakistan-sponsored, took place only on September 18, and ignoring the Indian elite's threat of 'jaw for tooth' et al, Washington nonetheless decided to go ahead with the meeting.
So much for the India-US 'defining partnership'!
So much for Pentagon chief Ashton Carter being a 'Friend of India'!
So much for the US-India logistics agreement, too!
Yet, the government continues with its grovelling at the American feet.
The Indian Express newspaper reports today that Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar is frogmarching Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet to post-haste approve the Paris Agreement, overruling the scepticism of the environment ministry and a host of sister ministries.
He (Jaishankar) is also learnt to have quoted the special unilateral relation between India and the US, and argued that since the pact had been steered by the US, not ratifying it would send a wrong signal, especially when Barack Obama had just two months to go as US president.
Isn't it bizarre that when our government is preparing a nice farewell gift for Obama as he leaves the White House, and when Modi has vowed to 'isolate' Pakistan in the international community and hope to get sanctions imposed on that country, for the Pentagon it is business as usual with the GHQ in Rawalpindi?
Washington couldn't care less that 18 Indian soldiers were slaughtered and the pain still lingers.
The Pakistan delegation to the meeting in Rawalpindi last Tuesday was led by Defence Secretary Lieutenant General Zamir-ul Hassan Shah (retd), while the US delegation was led by a ranking Pentagon official, Principal Deputy Undersecretary of Defence Policy Ambassador David B Shear.
The joint statement issued after the meeting said the US and Pakistan 'recognised the centrality of the US-Pakistan bilateral security partnership to their overall bilateral relationship and acknowledged that continued cooperation remains vital to promoting peace, security and stability in the region and beyond.'
The statement highlighted the two countries' 'commitments to a strong defence relationship in years ahead, geared to achieve common strategic objectives particularly related to counter-terrorism, regional stability and other areas of security cooperation.'

Statement by NSC Spokesperson Ned Price on National Security Advisor Susan E. Rice’s Call with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval of India

National Security Advisor Susan E. Rice spoke today by phone with Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Ambassador Rice strongly condemned the September 18 cross-border attack on the Indian Army Brigade headquarters in Uri and offered condolences to the victims and their families. Ambassador Rice affirmed President Obama’s commitment to redouble our efforts to bring to justice the perpetrators of terrorism throughout the world. Highlighting the danger that cross-border terrorism poses to the region, Ambassador Rice reiterated our expectation that Pakistan take effective action to combat and delegitimize United Nations-designated terrorist individuals and entities, including Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, Jaish-e-Muhammad, and their affiliates. In the context of the robust U.S.-India partnership, Ambassador Rice discussed our shared commitment with India to pursuing peace and regional stability and pledged to deepen collaboration on counterterrorism matters including on UN terrorist designations.
Some visible points and absence of == not seen even a few years ago..
- No mention of Kashmir , or "India administrated BS" or "violence" just "Cross border attack on Indian Army in Uri"
- No == "all sides" "peace" "core-issue of Kashmir" etc... just concern about "terror"
- Named L-eT, JuM etc..
- Reaffirmed partership with US-India (no mention of Pak/Us friendship of even to save Paki H&D)

Pakistan humiliated by south Asian countries' boycott of summit
India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Bhutan cite regional interference as they pull out of what was set to be a historic meeting
Four south Asian countries are to boycott what was set to be a historic regional summit in Islamadad in November, dealing a humiliating blow to Pakistan and isolating it diplomatically.
India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Bhutan all said they would pull out of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) meeting following a collapse in relations between Pakistan and India, the subcontinent’s nuclear-armed rivals.
Statements by the region’s foreign ministries echoed India’s criticism on Tuesday night, which blamed “increasing cross-border terrorist attacks and growing interference of the internal affairs of member states” for Delhi’s decision to boycott the conference.
Until recently, the prospect of the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Islamabad had been seen as a potentially highly symbolic step towards reconciliation between Pakistan and India.
The two countries, however, have been engaged interse exchanges following an attack on an Indian army base on 18 September that killed 19 soldiers, which Delhi has blamed on jihadis based in Pakistan. The raid took place in town of Uri near the line of control that divides the contested Himalayan territory of Kashmir.
Four days later, India denounced Pakistan at the UN as the host of the “Ivy League of terrorism”.
Islamabad says India has provided no evidence linking the attack either to militants based in Pakistan or to the country’s intelligence agencies, which have long been accused of complicity with anti-India jihadi groups.
Pakistan’s defence minister has even suggested that India itself carried out the attack to deflect attention from its ongoing struggle to quell popular disturbances in the Indian part of Kashmir.
ensions have been fuelled by television networks and social media on both sides of the border, with some pundits appearing to relish the prospect of all-out nuclear war.
Some Indian hawks have demanded retaliatory attacks against suspected militant camps in Pakistan, but Modi has sought to punish Islamabad with steps that fall short of military means.
His strategy is, however, far tougher than the relative restraint shown by previous Indian governments during earlier crises, such as that prompted by the four-day assault on Mumbai by Pakistani militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba in 2008.
In recent weeks, Modi has publicly backed separatist rebels in the restive Pakistani province of Balochistan, a move that has infuriated Islamabad. He has also questioned a key cross-border river treaty and vowed to orchestrate Pakistan’s diplomatic isolation.
That promise became reality on Wednesday when it became clear four out of SAARC’s eight members would not attend the summit, which it is Pakistan’s turn to host.
Afghanistan’s foreign ministry, which has long accused Pakistan of supporting the Taliban-led insurgency, was most stinging in its criticism, denouncing “the increased level of violence and fighting as a result of imposed terrorism on Afghanistan”.

India has one of the world's biggest armies. Why doesn't it use it?
Following a raid that killed 18 Indian soldiers at an army base in Kashmir, some commentators bayed for a thundering retaliatory strike against neighbor and rival Pakistan.
A “jaw for a tooth,” said one member of the governing Bharatiya Janata Party. “Wipe off Pakistan from the world’s map” with a nuclear strike, said another.
Yet Prime Minister Narendra Modi has steered a course of caution, disappointing hawks in his party who blame Pakistan-based militants for the Sept. 18 attack but pleasing those who feared another destabilizing conflict in South Asia.
In a speech over the weekend, Modi challenged nuclear-armed Pakistan — with which India has fought three wars since 1947 — to battle poverty and unemployment instead. At the United Nations General Assembly, he and his deputies called on the world community to isolate Pakistan and other nations that “export terrorists.”
The diplomatic approach has surprised observers who expected Modi to take a tougher line against Pakistan and the Islamist militant groups that regularly strike India from across the border, allegedly with the support of the Pakistani intelligence establishment.
The Indian leader spent decades in a hardline Hindu nationalist organization before entering politics. After the Pakistani-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba killed more than 160 people in Mumbai in 2008, Modi criticized the government at the time for failing to strike back, saying Pakistan needed to be dealt with “in a language they understand.”
But as prime minister since 2014, Modi has hewed to India’s decades-old policy of “strategic restraint,” opting not to deploy one of the world’s largest military arsenals even when directly provoked.
“If India’s strategic restraint policy was to be amended, Narendra Modi would be the person to do it,” said Sunil Dasgupta, a political scientist at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and co-author of a book about India’s military policy titled “Arming Without Aiming.”
“He has the background, the ideology, the attitude. … He would be the person to break through that. But even he has been restrained. It begs the question: What is underneath it?”

I hope ModiJi & Co don't fall for US's charm offensive and halt whatever it is they were planning. Until TSP completely dismantles LeT, Jaish etc, India must persist with current course. Of course, one may ask what does this mean? And this is where the list of 20+ that Jassu bhai (poor chap, hope he is doing well) gave TSP several years back comes in handy. India must see visible action on them.

You forget Ghusaomat Yaar at your own peril.
http://www.firstpost.com/world/gulbuddi ... 24914.html
Gulbuddin Hekmatyar: Will the Afghanistan warlord turn out to be Pakistan’s wild card against India?
Notorious warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar is back to centre stage in Afghanistan and could play a pivotal role in the future political arrangement of the country. Hekmatyar is rumoured to be hiding somewhere in Pakistan but with last week’s deal signed between his party the Hezb-i-Islami and the National Unity Government, it will not be long before the butcher of Kabul resurfaces. Hekmatyar, a former Mujahideen leader was a favourite of the Americans when he was fighting the Russians. He was also close to the Pakistani military and virulently anti-Indian. Pakistan is hoping to use the Hekmatyar card against India. Whether it will work remains to be seen.
Last week’s agreement will give Hekmatyar and his supporters immunity for killing thousands of Afghan civilians in the civil war that wracked the country soon after the Russian soldiers left. Hekmatyar, who is a US and UN-designated global terrorist, has also been promised that his name will be deleted from the global terror list. Washington, desperate to have a political settlement in Afghanistan has promised to help. In return, Hekmatyar has promised to give up violence and abide by the Afghan Constitution.
His entry will shake up the political situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan is hoping he will be in a position to ensure that President Ashraf Ghani cools down his enthusiasm for India. Soon after becoming president, Ghani had vowed to reset ties with Pakistan which remained bitter during his successor Hamid Karzai’s tenure. Karzai had excellent relations with India, and Islamabad had often charged New Delhi and Kabul of destabilising Baluchistan through Indian operatives posted in Jalalabad. Ghani started his tenure by wooing Pakistan’s military, breaking protocol to call on then army chief General Ashfaq Kayani at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. Ghani had hoped that Pakistan would get the Taliban to negotiate a peace deal with the new government. Ghani had campaigned for getting all Afghans on the table for a political solution to the current impasse. The hopes were belied, with the President now accusing Pakistan’s military of using the Haqqani network and allowing the use of its territory to launch attacks in Afghanistan.
Will Hekmatyar be in a position to change the President’s approach to India remains to be seen. Pakistan will hope to use the Hekmatyar to its advantage, but it is too early to predict anything in the complicated tribal intrigues of Afghanistan......

Uri aftermath: Khawaja Asif's threat to nuke India displays a Pakistani habit to play victim
Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s preposterous statement that the Uri attack was "a plan devised by India itself" is a familiar narrative that emanates from across the border after all major acts of terror. His rant falls into the larger pattern of global jihadists’ narrative they use to portray them as victims and not aggressors.
sif flatly denied any Pakistan’s role in the Uri attack stating that there was no proof yet to implicate his country. And then taking to by now familiar rant he told Dawn newspaper, “It was evident the attack was a plan devised by India itself.”
Pakistan plays the victimhood card every time it carries out an act of terror against India. It resorts to lies every time it’s exposed and squeezed for its acts of terrorism.
After the Pathankot and the Mumbai attacks too, Pakistan used the same tactics to accuse India of staging the attack itself. The Pakistani government is not the only entity to shift the blame for the attack on India. The Pakistani army, all the jihadist groups or the so-called non-state actors, the media, as well as the civil society too, buy into the victim-as-aggressor syndrome. The whole country is seen to be on the same page on this issue.....

India plans big naval exercise in Arabian Sea, Pakistan’s only sea trade route
http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/art ... aign=cppst
( Let's see if Paki send their ships to take a peek and get the slap & splash )
NEW DELHI: As part of its post-Uri show of strength, India will hold a major naval exercise in the Arabian Sea in the coming weeks. The naval show, called the Defence of Gujarat Exercise (DGX), will take place near Pakistan’s coast line. Three dozen warships and submarines as well as Indian Air Force aircraft are likely to take part. The Arabian Sea is Pakistan’s main sea trading route. Intelligence and defence officials said a show of naval strength in this area can be a crucial part of India’s message to Pakistan. Naval exercises practice manoeuvres to defend a maritime assault on Indian mainland and assume a number of hostile contingencies. Defence of Indian assets such as oil rigs as well as coastal security will be part of the manoeuvres. Fighter, reconnaissance and patrol aircraft are part of such exercises. Indian Air Force’s maritime role Jaguars and Su-30 MKIs, and navy’s reconnaissance and patrol aircraft, plus unmanned aerial vehicles, will be deployed. India is reviewing intelligence reports that Pakistan has put three of its army corps along the Indian border on alert, and is deploying reconnaissance patrols and early warning elements.

India and Pakistan Risk Going to War Over Water
A 1960 treaty dictates how they share resources and both countries are unhappy right now.
By Curt Mills | Staff Writer Sept. 27, 2016, at 2:44 p.m.
Pakistan, which is heavily dependent on river waters, warned of a "water war" Tuesday if India violates the Indus Water Treaty, originally signed in 1960.
Pakistan sees such a violation as an "act of war," the country's top foreign official said.
Disputes regarding water control have long been a concern for both nations. Tensions between the two adversaries have been rising recently, in wake of the killing of more than a dozen Indian soldiers in the disputed Kashmir region earlier this month.
New Delhi harbors deep suspicions of Islamabad's involvement in this attack; Pakistan denies involvement.
"Blood and water cannot flow simultaneously," Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday, chairing a review meeting of the treaty. Modi said India will "exploit to the maximum" the water of Pakistani-controlled rivers, up to the limits of the treaty.
India's foreign ministry also announced Tuesday that Modi is canceling his appearance at a regional summit of South Asian leaders in Pakistan in November.
"Increasing cross-border terrorist attacks in the region and growing interference in the internal affairs of member states by one country have created an environment that is not conducive to the successful holding of the 19th SAARC Summit," the ministry said in a statement.....

Allah-o-Akbar.

IMHO, September 29, 2016 is as significant as May 11, 1998 because we have at last crossed a self-inflicted redline. Like Shakti-II, this should have happened many, many years ago. Better late than never. The full import of this operation would be felt in months & years to come.

Possible we could have done airstrikes/long range artillery. That many units crossing the border and getting through enemy AD and border patrol is a little too fantastic. I think it was a joint operation by the Army and Airforce.

India’s surgical strikes in Pakistan show intent to act strongly against terrorists
The surgical strikes are a shift from the first adopted peaceful retaliation stance of PM Narendra Modi.
surgical strikes on terrorist positions across the Line of Control (Loc). This comes as a big statement of intent from Prime Minister Narendra Modi that India will not sit quietly in the face of adversity and it will act to neutralise any threat to the country. The cross-border surgical strike on Wednesday night follows attempts by India to solve the issue diplomatically which failed on account of Pakistan’s unwillingness to act on terrorists operating from its soil against India.
Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen Ranbir Singh and Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup made the announcements at a joint press conference on Thursday afternoon. The operation was obviously kept under the wraps due to operational concerns, but this strike has been long awaited. The DGMO revealed that India has foiled at least 20 infiltration bids from Pakistan during this year and the Poonch and Uri terror attacks were not the last planned. He revealed that further strikes were planned against India and after Indian forces received intelligence of these terror launch pads being mobilised, Indian Army acted to neutralise them.
The surgical strikes are a shift from the first adopted peaceful retaliation stance of PM Modi. It was logical to counter Pakistan on diplomatic terms, but continued efforts from Pakistan to support terrorist and infiltration activities in India have shown the clear picture of Pakistan’s position and intentions to support peace activities in India. Now, it is upon Pakistan to cooperate with the Indian forces that announced there are no further plans to carry out any such attacks for the time being. Pakistan has committed in January 2004 that it will not allow its soil to be used for any terror sanctuaries and terrorist activities on India. Meanwhile, India has continuously presented proof of Pakistani terrorists being trained by Pakistani forces to prepare them for such acts.

Indian Army commandos cross LoC, conduct surgical strikes in Pakistani territory
The Indian Army today said it has conducted surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan, causing significant casualties.
The Indian Army today said it has conducted surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan, killing several terrorists and causing significant casualties to their hideouts.
he Army said special commandos crossed the LoC last night, conducted the operation in the Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and returned to the Indian side without any casualty. The Air Force was not involved in the surgical strike.
The entire operation was monitored for the entire night by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval from the Army headquarters in New Delhi.
It was because of this operation that Parrikar and Doval had cancelled their dinner on Wednesday night with the Coast Guard commanders.
NAWAZ SHARIF REACTS
Minutes after India announced on Thursday that it carried out surgical strikes across the LoC on Wednesday night, Sharif denounced what he called was an "unprovoked and naked aggression" by Indian forces.
Radio Pakistan quoted him as saying that the Indian operation led to the death of two Pakistani soldiers.
"I spoke to the Pakistan DGMO and shared our concerns. I told him that we conducted surgical strikes last night," Lt Gen Singh said.
The Pakistani Army has also admitted that two of its soldiers were killed in an exchange of fire with Indian forces across the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir today.
Earlier today, India responded to unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan on LOC with punitive strikes. Two Pakistani soldiers have been killed in Indian firing.
India had on Tuesday announced that it was pulling out of the SAARC summit scheduled to be held in Islamabad in November after the September 18 cross-border terror attack on an Indian Army base in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir that claimed the lives of 18 Indian soldiers.

Military rejects Indian claim of 'surgical strikes' as two Pakistani soldiers killed at LoC
ISLAMABAD: At least two Pakistan Army soldiers were killed as Indian troops fired across the Line of Control in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday. The Pakistani military confirmed the deaths of its soldiers yet dismissed the Indian claim of 'surgical strikes.'
"There had been cross border fire initiated and conducted by India which is [an] existential phenomenon," said an ISPR statement released shortly after the Indian DGMO held a press conference making claims about surgical strikes.
India strikes, Pakistan responds
The exchange of fire began at 2:30am, ISPR said, and continued till 8:00am.
"Pakistani troops befittingly responded to Indian unprovoked firing on the LoC in Bhimber, Hotspring Kel and Lipa sectors," the statement said.
.....
he Indian ministry of external affairs and ministry of defence addressed a joint press conference on Thursday after fire was exchanged on the LoC.
Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen Ranbir Singh said during the address that surgical strikes were conducted by the Indian army on "terror launch pads along the LoC." He also added that the strikes will not continue.
....
However, the Pakistan military swiftly dismissed the notion of a surgical strike.
"The notion of surgical strike linked to alleged terrorists bases is an illusion being deliberately generated by Indian to create false effects," the military statement said.
"This quest by Indian establishment to create media hype by rebranding cross border fire as surgical strike is fabrication of truth. Pakistan has made it clear that if there is a surgical strike on Pakistani soil, same will be strongly responded."

The reaction is here. It did not happen. Pindichana was consumed during eid, two Pak soldiers attained shahadat. Kissa khatam.

Gentle Rakshaks, it gives me satisfaction that my rambles were on the mark, as is indicated by events unfolding now. What next? would be the obvious question. Well in such a undeclared war, there is bound to be reactions both from across the LOC/IB and from within. I am sure that there has been a mobilization of Internal assets and forces to prepare for such attacks.

As far as my guestimates go, the present cross LOC raid has been calibrated carefully in terms of choice of targets, punitive value, cost to PA and delivery of message. That is why the DGMO referred to the fact that he spoke to his counterpart and clearly told him the reason for the operation. I am sure he is being very brief and it would have included the following:

1. An indication of what is in store if the PA tries to retaliate for this
2. Expected set of actions within a short time frame in terms of closing down of launchpads, camps that will be monitored for compliance
3. Consequences for not complying
4. Lollipop of letting things calm down if they play ball

My take was that the professionals would plan and execute the calibrated retributive action and the go ahead was provided on 19 Sept itself. The fact that the calibration, assessment, planning and execution happened completely unhindered by interference by political authority as long as it was under the broad lakshman rekas were not crossed is a clear indication of departure from the past of asking and waiting for Delhi to issue go-aheads for even defensive ops.

The other part of my take was of a strategic multi front, integrated onslaught directed to the ultimate objective of dismemberment of this artificial entity is well and truly underway. From SAARC boycott, to IWT and MFN review to Naval Exercises, Air Force Exercises, Review of Overflight connectivity to Pakistan, mobilization of coordinated moves by regional countries and the radio silence of the principal sponsors of Pakistan are all indicators of that.

I only submit here that the time line for achieving this objective is important only to a certain extent. What is being set in motion is a series of steps both overt and covert that will influence events to move towards that objective. India has now a leadership that is willing to take on risks and will not tolerate Pakistani sponsored terror endlessly. Paksitanis have to get this point, otherwise destruction is assured.

Just the usual ramble, take it for what it is worth!
