IAF gunships to conduct surveillance at Sabarimala - G.Anand, The Hindu
The Indian Air Force (IAF) and Navy have deployed their MI-17 V-5 gunships to fly low level aerial reconnaissance and surveillance sorties over Sabarimala from Monday.

Inspector General of Police, Thiruvananthapuram Range, Manoj Abraham, told The Hindu that intelligence reports that extremist elements could use forest routes to assail the temple or pilgrims groups had prompted the unusual move.

The intelligence forecasts were credible but not specific on details. However, they elaborated on certain operational tactics terrorist could adopt.

The State police have found the reports too compelling to ignore in the background of global terrorist threat. They had developed a counter with the aid of the defence forces, top officials said.

Official sources said that at least three helicopters would be involved in the operation. They would fly out from bases in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi. The gunships would have Army paratroopers on board. The State police commandos with local terrain knowledge would accompany them as point-men.

The IAF would survey the helipad at Nilackal for potential use as forward operating and logistics base.

The gunships could remain air-borne for several hours without refuelling. Auxiliary fuel tanks enhanced their endurance. The helicopters were kitted out with thermal and long range imaging devices that equip them to conduct wide area surveillance under varied weather and light conditions.

The MI-17 V-5 were famously used by the National Security Guards to carry out an airborne assault on Chabad House which was taken over by terrorists during the September 2008 sea-borne armed suicide attack in Mumbai. They were also used to ferry troops to the LoC for “surgical strikes on terrorist camps” in September this year.

Officials said the armoured helicopters would carry air-to-ground missiles and machine guns along with surveillance equipment. They would be at least 36 special troops on board with assault weapons, body armour, and allied weaponry. The police would study the reconnaissance reports in detail to calibrate and optimise their deployment on the ground.
Wow. I never imagined that the Sabarimala yatra would come to this stage!

On Sabari Mala - we must also know that today is December 6th, the Babri Masjid demolition day. And the set of Jehadis picked up by NIA last week from TN, had some plans to cause a few explosions on this day. So may be the police is taking much more higher precautions this time.

Unbelievable!!!!

42 years??

Maulvi, living on Prez Estate for 42 years, detained by cops for seven hours

Dec 13, 2016

Maulvi, living on Prez Estate for 42 years, detained by cops for seven hours

A terror alert on Saturday evening led the police to a mazar inside a forest at the Bodyguard Lines, opposite President Estate, where a 70-year-old maulvi had been staying for the past 42 years.

The maulvi, Gazi Norool Hassan, who claims to be a preacher and a teacher to former president Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, was detained on suspicion by the police and questioned for over seven hours.

He was later released after he furnished documents including his passport, ID card, voter card, a valid electricity connection and other address proofs to the police.

According to sources, on Saturday night, a patrolling van spotted Hassan scaling the wall of Bodyguard Lines, going inside the forest.

Unaware of a mazar inside the forest, which could be someone’s home, the personnel reported the matter to higher authorities. Hours later, a team of personnel reached Hassan’s door asking him to accompany them to the police station for questioning.

“I had retired to my room when the police knocked at my door. I was surprised. They asked me to come with them to the police station for questioning. They took me and kept me there for over seven hours. They kept asking me how I have a house inside the Bodyguard Lines and since when I have been living there. This has never happened to me before,” Hassan said.

Hassan said that not many people know of the mazar inside the forest and since there is no proper gate to enter, one has to climb the wall and get inside. Hassan has carved out a room inside the mazar where he has been staying for the past 42 years, preaching the Quran to his handful of followers.

According to sources, a terror alert was issued on Saturday and the PCR spotted Hassan climbing a wall near President Estate, which created panic. A search operation was then launched inside the forest and the police stumbled upon the mazar.

“They asked me to prove my purpose of stay here. I told them I stayed there and only after I showed them all proofs they let me go,” he said.

When contacted, police said that it was a part of the routine check and he was detained as he was around the VIP zone in Lutyens Delhi.

“The personnel patrolling the area were unaware of the mazar inside the forest and found Hassan’s movement suspicious when they saw him scaling the wall,” a police source said

Owaisi Plays "Race Card" On Mohammed's Birthday

Demonetisation: Owaisi calls Modi 'tyrant', claims ATMs in Muslim areas not functional
Hyderabad: Hitting out at the government over demonetisation, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being a "tyrant" and alleged banks and ATMs in Muslim dominated areas in the city were not functioning."Every family is in distress today...I cannot withdraw my money. Who made this law," the Hyderabad MP said, addressing a public meeting on the occasion of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad 'Milad-un-Nabi'.
Instead of "praising" Muhammad PBUH, on this "special" day, he is rousing the Aam Abduls !
The Prime Minister should remember that those standing in queues now to withdraw their money would stand in queue again to vote against him (in the elections), Owaisi said. "Election speech in a non-election year ?
"Banks are not open in our Muslim localities. If bank is open, it is declared 'red zone' and loans are not available. If ATM is installed, money is not coming out of them in our localities," he alleged. "Conspiracy theory" to rouse the awam ?

"I did not know what was happening but he would be away for a long time,'' she said.A series of complaints like Salma's led to the police searching nearly 100 internet cafes where they found children browsing adult-only sites. About 30 cases have been filed against the owners of internet cafes involved; the charges range from not having security cameras on location to allowing minors to watch *****.At the counseling session, the police asked parents to watch their children's after-school activity more closely. They also said they would involve schools in helping out with net-nannying.The police is particularly concerned that many of the children appeared to be watching a large amount of violence, including ISIS propaganda material like filmed beheadings."We are keeping up our vigil because we see this as a critical area for youngsters to get diverted into undesirable activity," senior official Satyanarayana told NDTV.In some parts of the session, younger children giggled and said they were playing video games when the police found them. Some said that they were caught watching ***** the first or second time they attempted it. A 16-year-old who is a school dropout said he was watching music videos on YouTube and was incorrectly collated in the group that allegedly logged on for *****.At least a few parents were initially awkward about acknowledging their children's transgressions, but soon loosened up and shared the difficulty of internet monitoring.

NIA to seek death penalty for IM convicts in Hyderabad blasts - Vijaita Singh, The Hindu
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) would be pressing for death sentence for five members of the banned terror outfit, the Indian Mujahideen (IM), convicted by a Hyderabad court last week for planning and executing the Dilsukhnagar blasts in 2013.

NIA DG Sharad Kumar told The Hindu , “we would be seeking death penalty for all the five members of the IM, including the main convict, Yasin Bhatkal. The conviction will send a strong message to other IM members on the run.”

A Hyderabad court is expected to announce the quantum of sentence on Monday.

On February 21, 2013, two simultaneous bomb explosions took place at Dilsukhnagar market in Hyderabad, which had killed 18 and injured 131 people. A pregnant woman was among those killed.

The case was cracked after the arrest of two senior operatives of IM, Ahmed Siddibappa Zaraar alias Yasin Bhatkal and Asadullah Akhtar, from the Indo-Nepal border in August 2013 by the NIA. The two bombs were planted by Akhtar and another accused, Tehseen Akhtar. In its charge sheet, the NIA said the accused received instructions from another accused, Riyaz Bhatkal, who is based in Pakistan. Both Riyaz and Yasin Bhatkal were giving instructions to the bombers through video chats.

The fifth accused, Zia ur Rehman alias Waqas, is from Pakistan and the NIA will also seek death sentence for him.

“The IM is receiving financial and material assistance from the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), backed by the Government of Pakistan, which is also providing shelter to several absconding members of the IM in Karachi and at other places in Pakistan,” the NIA said.

The NIA said it has issued a red corner notice against Riyaz Bhatkal, the key founding member of the IM.

Video footage recorded by a traffic surveillance camera and a private camera in a shop showing one of the bombers, later identified as Tehseen Akhtar, coming to the bus stop on a bicycle with a tiffin box on the carrier, proved to be the key during investigations.

Days before the blasts, the accused had conducted a dry run at a hilltop on the outskirts of the city. The NIA said IM operatives received Rs. 1 lakh from a hawala operator on the directions of Riyaz Bhatkal in Pakistan and also through Western Union Money Transfer.

Some thing is seriously fishy at Muthoot Bank. Looks like the thiefs have some kind of strange love towards Muthoot group of financial institituitions.
Gold jewellery looted from finance company in broad daylight (28th Dec, 2016)
Rajkot: Five kg gold jewellery looted from Muthoot Fincorp branch (26th Dec, 2016)
Rs 90 lakh looted from Muthoot Finance branch in Dhoraji, Gujarat (26th Dec, 2016)

And slightly dated story...
Daylight robbery: Gold worth over Rs 3 crore looted from Muthoot office in Patiala (16th May, 2015)

And more on this banking institution..
Muthoot Group
There are only a few business groups world over which have a history of over 100 years. As a member of the 19th generation of the Muthoot heritage and the current Chairman of The Muthoot Group, I take great pride in stating that The Muthoot Group is one such organization that has an unblemished family legacy of over 800 years and a business history of 129 years.

Israel warns on travel to India, citing immediate threat of attacks

Israel's anti-terrorism directorate issued a travel warning for India on Friday, citing an immediate threat of attack to Western and tourist targets, particularly in the south-west of the country.

"A particular emphasis should be put on events in the coming days in connection with beach and club parties celebrating the New Year where a concentration of tourists will be high," part of the warning said.

The statement recommended that tourists avoid participation in such parties. It also called on families in Israel to contact their relatives in India and tell them of the threat.

In addition, it recommended avoiding markets, festivals and crowded shopping areas. Unusually, the warning was published on Friday evening in Israel, after the start of the Jewish Sabbath, when government offices close for business.

The directorate did not say what prompted the warning.

Israel Issues Travel Warning for India, Citing New Year's Eve Terror Threat
Israel's counter-terrorism bureau published a travel warning for India on Friday, in anticipation of possible attempts to carry out attacks against Western tourists in the southern and western parts of the country in the immediate future. The counter-terrorism bureau recommends that Israeli tourists in India avoid attending New Year's events or visiting marketplaces, festivals or crowded shopping centers.
"We ask to focus on events in the coming days related to the Christian New Year's holiday, placing particular emphasis on beach parties and clubs, where there are larger concentrations of tourists," the counter-terrorism bureau said.
"Israeli tourists traveling in India are asked to stay alert and to pay attention to local media reports and security agencies. Furthermore, families with relatives in India" are asked to update them about the travel warning and recommendation.
In 2008, 10 Pakistani terrorists killed 166 people, among them five Israelis, in a series of attacks in Mumbai, targeting hotels, a central train station, popular café and a Chabad house. Local and national security services in India were harshly criticized for their delayed response to the capture of hostages in various parts of the city. In 2012, the spouse of a Defense Ministry representative was moderately wounded in an explosion in her car near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi.

New Years Eve revelry gone horribly wrong. A repeat from a year before. No lessons learnt from a year before both by people attending and the administration. Plus a refusal by administration to accept it as a serious breach in law and order post the event. Women came under sexual predatory assault almost without exception from a very hooliganist rowdy and probably drunk male mob. Like the Syrian refugees did in Germany last new years eve.

Can ISIS Strike India From East? Jamaat Terrorist Revealed Plans, Say Sources
http://www.ndtv.com/india-news/can-isis ... es-1644360
Kolkata: The threat to India from ISIS may well come from the eastern border. The Jamaat-Ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh or JMB, a terror group which was behind the Dhaka Bakery Attack and aims to establish an Islamic caliphate in the country, has been coordinating with the ISIS to create terror in India, sources said.

The possibility of an ISIS attack from the east is being seriously considered after the interrogation of Mohammad Mosiuddin alias Musa, an alleged JMB operative who was arrested in July last year from Burdwan in West Bengal.

Mosiuddin's interrogation has thrown up chilling revelations that include terror plans that go beyond targeting foreigners at Kolkata's Mother House and lone wolf attacks on foreign tourists in Srinagar. The group aims to replicate in South Asia what the ISIS has done in the middle-east, sources said.

I have posted this in nukkad. an annual occurrence in varying degrees.

I believe police held back from a lathi charge as the miscreants were distributed all over and for fear of causing a stampede.

I have no idea why people gather in brigade or MG road when ample drinking places are available all over the city , there is no free rock concert or glass ball either unlike times square.

. May be it is time to bring back the legends like Jayaram Padikkal, Pulikodan Narayanan SI saar back to the police force. TN Police is really aggressive when it comes to dealing with Maoists. The Q branch pretty much know their entire details, and the state government also have allowed the police to shoot them down if found. And because of these these Maoists sneak into Kerala, where every "intellectual" is an admirer of them. This "doctor" is just a sample.

The above by Sachin is largely true, but some disturbing news has been emanating lately. About two or three weeks back, the Mumbai bound train was planned to be derailed by placing concrete slabs on the track near Krishnagiri. It now turns out to be an act by Naxalites to avenge the killing of Kuppuraj & Ajitha in the Kerala forests, a month back. Dharmapuri, Salem, Thoppur, Krishnagiri, Bargur, Thiruvannamalai areas had great communist influence always and naturally are susceptible to Naxalism as well. Particularly Dharmapuri. I hope the Q Branch uproots these evil people completely. See more information below.

Arrested Maoist considered a key catch - P.V.Srividya, The Hindu
The arrest of a Maoist suspect here [Dharmapuri] on Monday is anticipated to lead the security agencies to other key cadre operating as sleeper cells in the region. The arrested 52-year-old Srinivasan is said to be a State Committee member of the banned Left extremist outfit in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Srinivasan, a former naxal-turned maoist, was arrested by the Naxal Special Division (NSD) police in Dharmapuri town. The NSD police claimed that Srinivasan was found in possession of seditious’ literature in his person.

A NSD source told The Hindu that the arrest is seen as a significant development, as Srinivasan is believed to be a key cadre in the State level committee of the banned Left extremist outfit in all the three States. He is said to have been underground for over 16 years now, and was reportedly operating from a room on Mahadi Road in Bengaluru in Karnataka. The NSD police recovered four pen drives, chips, some ‘seditious’ literature, and two cell phones from him at the time of the arrest, the source claimed.

According to another source, it is likely that the arrest will lead the security agencies to other key figures operating in the tri-junction area known as a red corridor, bordering the three States.

The arrest resulted from the intense combing carried out by the Naxal Special Division Police (NSD) here in the wake of a foiled rail sabotage bid in December last. On December 22, concrete slabs were found on the railway track of the Nagercoil-Dadar Express near Thoppur between Salem and Dharmapuri.

However, the sabotage bid was foiled by an alert loco-pilot, who had slowed down the train after hitting the first few slabs, while others slid off the track. Preliminary investigation led the security agencies to rule out the incident as mere mischief by miscreants and got them to suspect possible naxal involvement.

Also, tip-offs from informants had pointed to sightings of Srinivasan and another former naxal Bhagath Singh in the Mavadi railway station next to Thoppur station.

The recent encounter killing of two Maoists in Wayanad in Kerala is suspected to have been the trigger for the foiled rail sabotage bid.

According to the source, Srinivasan was approached by Bhagath Singh alias Anada Kumar alias Sukadev after the encounter killing of Ajitha and Kuppur Devaraj in Wayanad.

Initially, the NSD police had believed that the killing of Kuppu Devaraj, who was a native of Krishnagiri, could have been a possible motive for a sabotage bid. But, preliminary interrogation of Srinivasan revealed that Bhagath Singh had worked with Ajitha. Bhagath Singh jointly with one Gurumoorthy of Vellore and Srinivasan had plotted the rail sabotage bid.

Bhagath Singh, a native of Singarapettai in Uthangarai, was already a named accused in Uthangarai encounter, where a weapon training centre was raided in 2002 and a naxal Siva alias Parthiban was killed. Srinivasan was an unnamed accused in the Uthangarai case and he came under the Q branch radar two years ago and under the NSD radar six months ago.

Srinivasan’s family of wife, two sons and a daughter, all from Alangarai in Dharmapuri, had refused to meet him, when they were informed of his arrest on Monday.

According to the NSD source, Srinivasan had not attended the death of his mother or the wedding of his daughter. He was remanded to judicial custody on Tuesday. Search is on for Bhagath Singh and Gurumoorthy.

The recent spate of train derailments in north india could easily be acts of sabotage. I wonder if intel agencies are keeping a lid on this discussion to avoid spreading panic.

Last week major Malayalam dailies published a report with the photos of Maoists suspected to be hiding in Kerala. The photos and information all came in from Tamil Nadu Q Branch. In the addresses listed, I did see a few places of Krishnagiri (Singarappetai etc.) mentioned. And it did strike me that many of these people were from Krishnagiri & Dharmapuri Dt. These again are close to the forests in which Mr. Veerappan once ran the show. And it also struck me that these were the places (then most likely part of Salem Dt.) in which stalwarts like Waltar Devaram IPS did teach the Naxals of the day a few hard lessons.
10 absconding Maoists include women in Kerala: TN.....
Mahalingam (61) from Koodapattu, Vellur, Anandakumar(32) from Singarapettai, Kalidas (46) from Ramanathapuram, Manivasakam from Selam, Yogesh Madan (41) from Punnur, Maharashtra, Chandra (51) from Salem, Padma (40) from Chennai, Reena Joyce Mary (33) from Madurai, Kala (50) from Selam and Dasarathan (33) from Thiruvallur.......

We may have to list out the spots of Train accidents in say the last one year, and then scout for reports about Naxalite presence in those areas. From what I have observed, Naxal cadre generally do not run around the country and cause havoc. They prefer to operate from certain pockets, which they feel are safe. The forest belts of TN,KA & KL. A.P & Orissa border for example. In MH, it is generally Gadchiroli etc. If you notice, none of them operate from say Jhansi, Itarsi, Hissar, Jalandhar etc.

Sachin, very, very true. Walter Davaram led from the very front and the TN government chose the right man for the right job and gave him powers to hunt and shoot down the Naxals. He did it with a ruthless efficiency that has become legendary. He rooted them all out. IIRC, he was range DIG for Tiruchy or Vellore at that time. It won't be an exaggeration to say that the efficiency of TN's Q Branch flows from his active service period. His policing, right through his career, was of the highest order.

By now, all the netaji Subhash Bose papers must have been released by the govt. Yet nothing of substance came out of them it seems.

Saw the poster of `Raees`today.
The poster has caption in huge -
"Baniye ka dimaag and Miya bhai ki daring. " -
So apparently Baniyas apply dimaag while muslims are daring. In a country where people start burning buses over,
"Mochi bhi samjhe khud ko sunaar re" song, this is passing off so nicely.

There is a nexus between muslims and ambedkarites and some OBCs against the rest. Till such a time as the rest cant/dont unite, India is as good as fcked.

Police Commissioner Sood says after investigating footage from ~60 CCTVs no molestation occurred . Images of people crying are after lathi charge.

He said four separate cases had been registered on the basis of media reports. He added that four youths had been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a woman from the Northeast.
The attacks were mimic of Koln attacks. The police is under tremendous pressure and are probably in a bind. The public confidence in police is not at its highest. Since, the Karnataka dispensation is not known for pursuing justice impartially, most victims would be hard pressed to cooperate. One only has to recall not so recently that when Jihadis posed threat to North-east people, the only people who risked to assure the safety of the northesterners were the RSS guys. The police is mostly used to providing bandobust to Tippu celebrations by the administration. Police has ceased to being used optimally to ensure for what it is meant to be. It was a wake-up call to Bengaluru, and the police when North easterners boarded the first train out of the city on receiving threat. Bengaluru has lost the plot. Bengaluru, kerala is a changed place from the last twenty years in many ways. Demography is destiny. It has truly turned a corner, most likely for the worse. Recall one would see the saudi style burqas in only certain parts of Shivajinagar and surrounding vicinity . Probably around 5 to 10% population. Now it looks lot more ubiqutious in all the areas from Mekhri circle to Gutahalli to T block, you name it. Looks more like 20 to 25 % ish. Do not have the latest census. But would easily bet, the constituency has gotten much more stronger. The indications are many. Hence, police will be going slow on prosecution if any. The casual attitude with which the police describe, the victim as a northeast woman is in and of itself a pointer to the deflection that is occuring in governance circles. Hemming and hawing to reduce the impact.

Bengaluru blast in Malleshwaram, threat to North-easterners, murder in mysuru, administration going out of way to appease by celebrating Tippu Jayanthi are all pointers to that. This is quite alarming, as politicians are closest to the ground changes in demography and accordingly tailor their messages and actions. No-go areas will expand, as also along with that Shariah compliant will be followed soon. As usual, once this sets in, the new normal sets in and most of other sheeple will be comfortable with that. Monkey see-monkey do will be in effect.

The police have made the first arrests, in the case in which a woman was way laid and groped. I did see the mug shots in the morning news paper and by their appearance thought that these would be the "usual suspects". But no, for a change the gropers are from other communities.
The police is mostly used to providing bandobust to Tippu celebrations by the administration. Police has ceased to being used optimally to ensure for what it is meant to be
The police (and the media) has now practically forgotten the murder of RSS activist Rudresh in Shivaji Nagar area. He was one bold chap who was openly challenging the Jehadis & politicians from a "particular community". The police also sheepishly admitted that Islamic terorrist organisations were involved in the murder. But now nobody speaks a word about it. Even the local BJP leadership is now in "radio silence" mode.
Recall one would see the saudi style burqas in only certain parts of Shivajinagar and surrounding vicinity .
Shivaji Nagar was an Islamic ghetto from time immemorial. And please note that RSS activists like Rudresh were active there, and also gaining popularity. I do not stay even in the suburbs of the city, but in a close by Taluq. To be brutally honest in the place where I leave, the peacefool community are just not allowed to flourish. I don't know how it is done, but even the butcheries are run by others folks - and quite hefty and well built ones at that. SHQ - who is more closer to the ground mentioned about the total disdain and lack of trust the common folks in that area had for the peacefools. And this is one Taluq where during the last local body elections not even a single seat was one by "secular" Congress people.
