When everything else fails to mollify India, Pakis try this :

Pakistan to release 439 Indian fishermen
Despite a complete halt to bilateral talks between India and Pakistan, 439 Indian fishermen languishing in Pakistani jails will return home in two batches, a pressure group said on Friday. The move would bring good cheer to the fishing community as the first batch is scheduled to be home on Christmas.Pakistan-India Peoples’ Forum for Peace and Democracy (PIPFPD) spokesperson Jatin Desai said that while 220 fishermen would be back on Sunday, the remaining 219 would return on January 5, 2017.
Pakistan will have to do "much more" to convince India to come to negotiating table (Sans Kashmir of course ) :D

Pakistan, Like Massaland Becoming A Litigious Society ?

Sixth grader sues President House officials over plagiarism :rotfl:
A sixth grader, through his father, has sued officials at the President House at the Islamabad High Court, accusing them for plagiarising and using his speech without his consent.Eleven-year-old Mohammad Sabeel Haider, who studies in Islamabad Model College for Boys, told DawnNews on Friday that he was chosen to deliver a speech at the President House in Islamabad on Dec 22.The ceremony was recorded and is supposed to be aired on Pakistan Television on Dec 25, marking the 141st birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. There have always been speculation that DJinnah's DOB was not Dec 25. The date was "selected" as a token gesture so that Christmas can be celebrated" without upsetting the Mullahs .
However, when Sabeel arrived at the President's House, he was informed he will no longer be delivering the speech. He said in his petition that a tenth-grader delivered the speech he had written and prepared, alleging that his intellectual property was stolen.According to Sabeel's lawyer, as per Section 3 of Intellectual Property and Copyrights Ordinance 1967, a literary piece that the person has produced themselves cannot be used by a third party without their consent. The court's judgement in this regard has been reserved.
Legal concepts like Intellectual Property, Right To Information (RTI), Defendant's Right Under Law, Burden Of Proof, Exit Control Lists etc etc are meant for societies where democracy prevails. Everyone knows that Pakistan so-called democracy is a sham, and the Govt serves at the pleasure of the Deep State/ Fauj, and no one dare challenge Army, Mullah or Non State Actors. Ganja is a modern day Mughal Badshah ( with no power!). His PM office at the NA is full of rats (As he rarely is in attendance there !). He is interested in food and foreign travels ! Decisions are made by his minions on an ad-hoc basis and where corruption and sifarish are massive . Let's see what happens in this case

Pakistan has extended MFN status to all WTO countries except India – Israel
ISLAMABAD, Dec 23 (APP): Minister of Commerce Engineer Dastgir Khan on Friday told the Senate that Pakistan being member of World Trade Organization (WTO) has extended Most Favored Nation (MFN) to all WTO member countries, except India and Israel.Replying to a question here in Upper House he said, there are a total of 164 members of WTO, adding, since 2006 fourteen new members have joined it. Hence, he said, Pakistan has granted MFN status to 14 countries in the last ten years.MFN status is granted by all the WTO member states at moment of accession, he said and added, therefore 14 new member statesto WTO have granted MFN status to Pakistan in the last 10 years. Under the WTO agreements- General Agreement on Tariffs andTrade (GATT), General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) and the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights
(TRIPS)-countries cannot normally discriminate between their trading partners, he added. This principle, the minister said is known as most favored-nation (MFN) treatment.
The term means the country which is the recipient of this treatment must receive equal advantages as the”most favored nation by the o-trade such treatment, he said.Dastgir said, the purpose of granting MFN status to WTO members is to bring uniformity and predictability to international trade, and to remove barrier to trade through reduction of tariffs and eliminating of discriminatory NTBs.It also aimed at to provide level playing fields for foreign producers at par with the local producers to ensure efficient production for consumers, he added. Economics 101 lesson by the Minister Of Commerce to Members Of The (illiterate )Paki Senate !

Indian consumers and producers need very few Paki origin items . On the other hand, Pakistan imports lots of "Made in India" items via third country (e.g. Dubai) at a higher price ! That way, Paki Echendee is preserved and the local industry does not suffer. Am sure that the GOI is aware of this discriminatory treatment and will present a case to WTO at a suitable time

PIA Pilots Need Navigation Training

PIA flight from Lahore to Karachi lands in Muscat :rotfl:

KARACHI – It seems as if there is no end in sight to the embarrassment that faces Pakistan’s national flag carrier. This time, PIA became a laughingstock when a Karachi-bound flight landed at Muscat airport on Friday.Flight PK307 was scheduled to depart from Lahore Thursday night, but it took off on Friday. :!: As if that wasn’t bad enough, the flight never reached Karachi, ending up at Muscat instead. Navigation via "Mecca Prayer Compass" ‘#PK307 LHE-KHI was diverted to Muscat being the only closest Airport to handle landing of such aircraft type due to operations halt at KHI’ Civil Aviation Authority Pakistan announced in a tweet.
Although PIA’s spokesperson Danyal Gillani told Dawn that the flight was diverted owing to fog, however, CAA disclosed the actual reason through a tweet by suggesting that the flight was diverted due to VVIP movement.
It is relevant to mention that PPP Chairman Asif Ali Zardari is due in Pakistan at 3 P.M and it is believed that the operation at Karachi airport was halted due to his arrival. So, even with Ganja Raj, Dus Percenti still accorded a Very, Very, Important Person (VVIP) treatment ; maybe, with "Bad Sharif" gone, AAZ is back in business ( of corruption, political deal-making, fiery speeches etc etc )

Advertising Industry Reaches A New Low In Pakha- nistan :D

Haleeb Food Publicly Shamed By Own Ad Agency For Non - Payment !
KARACHI – In an unprecedented move concerning the corporate sector in Pakistan, an advertising agency overtook the Facebook page of Haleeb Foods and publicly asked the company to clear its pending dues.Viral EDGE, a Karachi based social media and ad agency, in order to get the other party to clear up its dues, also uploaded images on Haleeb Food’s with a message that reads:“Dear Fans, please help us in recover our payments due since more than 7 months on account of Haleeb Foods.Kindly re-share the page on your profile to support the cause.”
Dear Fans, please help us in recover our payments due since more than 7 months on account of Haleeb Foods. Kindly re-share the page on your profile to support the cause. Contact Person is Mansoor Nawaz (Marketing Director - Haleeb Foods) - Contact Number : 0301-8444064 / 0300-8485864
The Haleeb Food’s Page has over 100,000 fans on it.Haleeb Foods Limited, formerly known as Chaudhry Dairies was formed in 1985. The core product of the company has always been packaged milk but it currently operates in several other food product categories. It is principally engaged in processing and sale of toned milk, milk powder, allied dairy products and fruit juices. The dispute follows the ad agency’s multiple attempts to get its dues cleared by the company.Haleeb Foods had contracted Viral EDGE for the development of its two websites (One for Haleeb Foods and another for a sister concern). One proper contract on legal documents was signed and the agency developed both the sites.
Pakistani businesses and Pakistani Govts will have to sort these "minor problems" before they embark on their "cherished dream" of becoming an IT (NOT International Terrorism ) giant and becoming an Economic SuperPower Of The 21st Century
Above reminds me of A Desi tale that we learned when young : Aander Nagri Choupat Raja ; Tak ke Ser Bhaji , Tak ke Ser Khaja !

PS: Desi tale confined NOT just only to Advertising Industry

The Rise And Rise Of Maryam Nawaz Sharif

Daughter’s day
IT has to be a landmark in the political journey of Ms Maryam Nawaz. A Chinese deputy minister in Pakistan kind of informally inaugurated her week when he singled out the rising lady of the Sharif household as an ideal guest to visit his country.
“We will be looking forward to welcoming Pakistan Muslim League-N’s delegation in China next year. We will be happy if you include your talented daughter Ms Maryam Nawaz in the visiting delegation.” Thus read the caption with a picture by the official APP news agency, which was duly carried by major papers here. Not just that the image was quickly used to measure both the Chinese vision and Ms Maryam’s potential to best represent her country and in what capacities. Although, not under Purdah or Burkha ,the Chinese Deputy Minister should be "gently" reminded that Ms Maryam Nawaz is a married woman !
It was all quite according to form. We have already decided that no one better understands what remedies we must adopt than our friends watching over us in China. It is now almost natural for them to pinpoint, in Pakistan’s interests, some of the directions we should take. Ganja should use Maryam as a "secret weapon" to get what he wants ( of course , after obtaining "due permission " from spouse :D
This is not in any way to suggest that the brains of Beijing are ever negligent of their own interests. We have Pakistani ministers forever telling us that there are certain things — such as aspects to the CPEC — that cannot be forced upon the Chinese. We are told that ultimately it was their money and they obviously had a say in how they wanted it done, and what they wanted to do first. Capitulation to Chini-blothers?
It can be said then that the honourable vice minister, Mr Zheng Xiaosong, must have had an eye on the future when he urged the prime minister’s daughter to book a seat for herself among the PML-N delegation flying out to our current dreamland.
It is remarkable just how fast Ms Maryam Nawaz has travelled on the highway to where she is, or soon will be, compared to a young Ms Benazir Bhutto travelling with her father to Shimla.Only a few years ago, the only Sharif lady who commanded respect for any political act of hers was Ms Maryam’s mother, Ms Kulsoom Nawaz, by some accounts and estimates the calmest and most graceful of the Sharif politicians to have ever been seen in public. Now it seems the daughter’s transformation from a life largely in the shadows to where it is difficult to take the spotlight off her has simply been a matter of one single decision. The question was only if her mentors and she herself wanted to do it. The rest fell in place as if by magic.
Ms Maryam Nawaz started off her political career in earnest with something she said she didn’t need to do. She was in charge of her father’s election campaign in 2013, at the same time claiming that Mian Sahib was so sure of winning that his workers didn’t need to canvass. Just to recap quickly, the move was widely believed to have been necessitated by Imran Khan’s appeal to the impressionable youth, with the skipper choosing to field against the next prime minister a woman who was there to greet the young upon their arrival: gynaecologist Dr Yasmeen Rashid.
Ms Maryam, fortunately for those who want a change of faces and infusion of fresh blood in politics here, was there to stay and shine and control and exercise authority ( plus tech savy !)— according to various projections of her movement. She was apparently one of the go-to persons when Mian Sahib was indisposed and had to undergo open heart surgery.
According to many news reports, she along with the most trusted lieutenant Mr Ishaq Dar ( master money launderer ) and uncle, the indomitable Shahbaz Sharif, ( clever brother and cancer patient !)was responsible for running the operations of the federal government smoothly. So much so that some of the observers were encouraged to say that with caretakers like them the prime minister could extend his ‘leave’ from office and allow his body more time to regain strength.( by eating nihari and paaya !)
It was around the same time that some of us began wondering out loud if she could be groomed as a future prime minister. Once again it was more a question of whether she and her mentors wanted her to train for that job or not. Nobody thought that the rest would fall in place as perfectly and automatically as it did when she decided to take the plunge in active, visible politics, but the pundits did believe she had a very good chance of sneaking her way to the top.She won her spurs when she agressively "defended her dad" against Imran Khan's various allegations of corruption, nepotism , misuse of govt funds, wealth unproportionate to declared income etc etc
The movement has since been a little limited, as if the selection board is still debating whether to use the option and when. Ms Maryam, in the meanwhile, has been credited with fighting and winning bouts much under her weight category. For instance, after the she was forced to give up the leadership of a youth loan programme under court censure, she has been credited with running a media cell known for its aggressive, mercilessly belligerent tackling of criticism of the government. She has been one of the most quoted voices proudly hailing the performance of her father in Islamabad, and it seems increasingly of late, of her uncle in Lahore. The 64, 000 Dollar Question : will the Islami Brigade be "comfortable" with her at the helm ; will Maulana Diesel, currently an ally of Ganja show obeisance to her as well; will the Jamaat Emir see her in person without purdah or burkha  [/quote]
This is as good an opportunity as PML-N would have hoped for. Mr Xiaosong’s invitation must bring Ms Maryam close to Mr Shahbaz Sharif, the most energetic, actually incomparable believer in China’s role of taking Pakistan towards emancipation. It is not for no reason that the pair occupies the foreground of the picture whose caption has the minister from Beijing recognising Pakistani talent. We are in for some exciting times. But will the "clever brother" survive his cancer woes to see Pakiland forge ahead with the CPEC ( China Pakjab Economic Corridor ); time will tell !

Things Heating Up In Kohistan .

Man shot dead as FC personnel, locals clash in Kohistan: police
At least one person was shot dead in Kohistan following an argument between Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and locals over the alleged assault of a taxi driver by FC men on Saturday.Station House Officer (SHO) Dasu Muhammad Haq Hashmi told Dawn an argument erupted between FC personnel and a taxi driver when the taxi hit a passing FC convoy conducting a routine patrol on the Karakoram Highway.According to the SHO, FC men got out of their car and beat up the taxi driver, after which locals gathered at the spot and engaged in a heated exchange with the FC personnel.
F.C. has been assigned to do the "dirty work" of the Paki Fauj from south of the country ( Karachi) to the north( Kohistan )
he FC men began aerial firing in order to disperse the crowd, the police official said. When they were unsuccessful in doing so, they opened fire on the crowd, he claimed. As a result of the firing, a 23-year-old local, Farooq, received bullet injuries and died.
Locals have blocked the Karakoram Highway to protest the killing of Farooq and are chanting slogans against FC personnel, eyewitnesses and police confirmed.
The Karakoram Highway is a major trade route which is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the protest has impacted the flow of traffic.
Has RAA been blamed yet for this one ?
The Deputy Inspector General Hazara Saeed Wazir told DawnNews the Karakoram Highway would be opened for traffic soon."Justice will be served and an investigation will be launched into the incident," he said. The FC has declined to comment on the matter as yet. Awaiting "orders" from Isloo ! As in many parts of this "accursed country", it is a Sunni- Shia issue here ; no easy solution !

Pakistan makes nuclear threat to Israel, in response to fake news
akistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif tweeted a veiled nuclear threat at Israel, apparently after taking affront at a fake news article where Israel purportedly warned Islamabad against meddling in Syria.
“Israeli def min threatens nuclear retaliation presuming pak role in Syria against Daesh. Israel forgets Pakistan is a Nuclear state too,” the Pakistani minister tweeted on Friday.
Israel Radio said Saturday that Asif was responding to a fake news story on the website AWDnews.com, which falsely reported that Israel responded to a Pakistani promise to send troops to Syria with a threat of nuclear attack. The unfounded story even mistakenly attributes the threat to Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon. Ya’alon left the Defense Ministry in May and was replaced by current Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman. The ever vigilant Def Minister of Pakiland can be excused for such blunder: (i) He is from the Mofussil town of Sialkot (ii) He has made similar threats to "arch enemy" India
Israel has never publicly confirmed or denied possessing nuclear weapons, nor issued threats to use nuclear weapons. It would be beyond unlikely for it to brazenly threaten Pakistan that “we will destroy them with a nuclear attack,” as the report claimed that Ya’alon did on Tuesday. Such ostensible comments by Ya’alon would have caused major headlines worldwide.
It’s not the first time Asif has brandished his country’s nuclear arsenal. In September he threatened to use tactical nuclear weapons against arch-enemy India. Maybe the ISI/ ISPR should cancel his tweeter account !

Pakistan's "Rape Culture" Gets A "Bad Name" In Germany !

Germany: Pakistani Says He Raped Women Because 'It's Hard To Get A Girlfriend As A Refugee'
A "refugee" from Pakistan who took up Angela Merkel's open invitation to move to Germany told a Berlin court he raped multiple women because he found it "hard to get a girlfriend." Is he "allowed" to get a girlfriend, per his "culture"
In Berlin a refugee from Pakistan is in front of the court. The state prosecutor accuses him of rape and five other attacks on women. The 26-year-old attempted to explain his actions. The 6-year-old man bent down so far behind the balustrade in the dock that only his shaved neck could be seen. On the first day of his trial before the Berlin State Court he asked his defence lawyer to read a declaration. "My name is Asif M. and I was born on 12 March 1990 in Pakistan." Thus begins the short story in which he attempts to explain the rape.M. travelled to Germany two years ago via Greece and Austria. In Pakistan he learned to be a welder, he says, and fled from the Taliban. In Berlin he stayed at a refugee centre and worked in a pub, behind the bar. All B.S. Economic refugee taking advantage of German "assylum laws"
The charge sheet accuses him of having raped a young woman and committing five other sexual attacks. M. confirms the crimes for the most part. Between 25 April and 25 July he repeatedly followed the same pattern: late at night he spoke to women walking through the streets on their own. He started a conversation, saying it was his birthday. When the women rejected him, he held on to them.He pulled his first victim to the ground and lay on her, kissed her, touched her on the breast. "After he briefly let go of her and the witness was about to leave, the defendant demanded that she stay and unclothed the witness, which the witness tolerated out of fear of further violence," the charge sheet reads. "Then the accused performed unprotected vaginal intercourse against the will of the witness." The other women he attacked afterwards defended themselves and screamed. Then Asif M. ran away.In his statement M. said he was sorry for what he had done. He was ashamed of himself, he said. In Greece and Austria he did not commit any crimes. "But in Germany it somehow broke out of me." In Austria he had even had a girlfriend, but only for a short time. "It's hard to get a girlfriend when you are a refugee and have nothing to offer," said Asif M.He knew what he was doing wasn't right, but something in him forced him to do it. "I wanted to have sex."
Enrolment in Daesh would have solved his problem !
Pakistan is one of many Third World nations with an actual rape culture (as opposed to a fake, made-up one such as in America and Europe). Rapes occur across Pakistan for a wide array of reasons – for pure lust, for revenge, to avenge a rejected marriage proposal, for religious and ethnic reasons, or simply to satisfy a predatory man’s desire to exert unadulterated brutality and power.

Red Warrants sought against Pervaiz Musharraf

Now that his "protector" (Raheel) has faded away, Mushy will be served a BLACK warrant every soon
The Kammundu has been making some noises (from abroad), and naming names, but don't think that this warrant is going to "shut his mouth" :D
ISLAMABAD: The complainant in the Abdur Rashid Ghazi murder case has sought red warrants against former president Pervez Musharraf in order to bring him back to Pakistan to face trial.
A sessions court had sought a reply from the federation after an application for issuance of red warrants was filed by Haroon Rashid, the complainant. Islamabad Additional District and Sessions Judge Pervaizul Qadir Memon had directed the federation to submit a reply by January 21.

Reading Fake News, Pakistani Minister Directs Nuclear Threat at Israel
The defense minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, wrote a saber-rattling Twitter post directed at Israel on Friday after a false report — which the minister apparently believed — that Israel had threatened Pakistan with nuclear weapons. Both countries have nuclear arsenals.

“Israeli def min threatens nuclear retaliation presuming pak role in Syria against Daesh,” the minister wrote on his official Twitter account, using an Arabic acronym for the Islamic State. “Israel forgets Pakistan is a Nuclear state too.”

Guys, while I welcome no loss of life on our side, but LoC seems to be unusually quiet. Even in the valley, I see that KMs are also going about their lives. And while as I said, I welcome this, but I hope no 'back-channel" BS is going on. Of course, I would be really worried of any back-channel under Congoons, and I am confident ModiJi/DovalJi won't sell India out like the MMS-MushRat "joint sovereignty" sell out, but nevertheless, I hope ModiJi doesn't do another gannja bear hugging surgical strike. Recall what he did last year. But something is definitely cooking behind the scenes for all this quiescence we are witnessing.

D'JINNAH'S BIRTHDAY TODAY !

"Legacy" Per A "moderate Paki"

In Pakistan, Quad-e-Azam's birthday has officially begun. Let's remember his message of moderation on this day .

"Legacy" Per Activist Tarek Fateh :

The real legacy of your 'Quaid-e-Azam' Jinnah is:

What Zardari's Return Means For Pakistan - Paki Journo - Shaheen Sehbai

Plausible analysis- Sehabai is a Immy supporter (based in Virginia, USA !) ; so, he according to him, Imran Khan and PTI will make "Pakistan Great Again "

Indus Waters Treaty: Pakistan objects to World Bank pausing two processes
Islamabad: Pakistan has asked the World Bank to "fulfil its obligations" regarding the Indus Waters Treaty as it objected to the body pausing two concurrent processes related to Indo-Pak dispute over Kishenganga and Ratle project.
Pakistan Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in a letter to World Bank President Jim Yong Kim said the Treaty does not provide for a situation wherein a party can "pause" performance of its obligations under the accord.
Dar said the World Bank's decision to pause the process of empanelment of the Court of Arbitration will seriously prejudice Pakistan's interests and rights under the Indus Waters Treaty 1960.
"It (the letter) strongly conveys that the matter of appointment of a Chairman of the Court of Arbitration has been inordinately delayed. It urged the World Bank to execute its obligations under the Indus Waters Treaty," Radio Pakistan reported.
Dar said the "pause" will merely prevent Pakistan from approaching a competent forum and having its grievances addressed.

Well we should know soon enough,...demonitization will soon be over, next attack will be responded to by Modi. If past is any guide, it took 2 attacks, Pathankot and Uri, before India responded. Definitely some peace overtures have been made, things dont go quiet all of a sudden. I remember reading COAS Bajwa saying peace will soon reign, right after he took over.

Are you kidding me? Why would TSP commit suicide by doing so? Such a low cost option that has fetched it deep equal equal dividends will not be eschewed so easily until costs outweigh benefits. They did put a tactical pause of sorts under MushRat while MMS was selling India out on "joint sovereignty" over Kashmir valley. Even leaving aside Kashmir, a comprehensive cut in pigLeT attacks means India will have no reason to pay attention to TSP, or at best TSP gets the attention other neighbors get. Can TSP afford that?

Hindu council worried over moves to amend conversion bill
MITHI: Patron-in-chief of Pakistan Hindu Council Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani has expressed serious concern over reports moves to amend to or abrogate the Sindh Criminal Law (Protection of Minorities) Bill, 2015, and warned if it was done under pressure of ‘extremist religious parties’ this would add to deepen the sense of insecurity among non-Muslims.He cautioned that Pakistan might face isolation on international level if the bill was abrogated as the legislation had addressed growing complaints against increasing incidents of abduction and forced conversion of underage minor Hindu girls.Dr Vankwani, who is also an MNA of PML-N, said in a statement issued on Sunday that they were not against the conversion of religion as a result of deep study or preaching but their concerns were linked to forced conversions only. “Why only underage Hindu girls in Sindh are changing religion,” he said.He termed protest of religious parties against the law unjustified and said: “I am inviting all honorable leaders of religious parliamentary parties to visit Sindh to observe ground facts to see for themselves how the name of a peaceful religion is being exploited by some extremist elements for their personal designs, and due to this, sentiments of non-Muslims are continuously getting hurt.”He said the situation was causing outrage and trauma among non-Muslim population.

Mumtaz Qadri's shrine: In memory of Salmaan Taseer’s assassin - DAWN
For a city of 1.6 million people, Islamabad has 827 mosques, some of which come with madrassahs and shrines of a varying degree of religious and political importance. “Islamabad the beautiful” is getting a new addition to this collection – the grave-turned-shrine of Mumtaz Qadri, the man who brutally gunned down then Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer in 2011.

In the early hours of the morning I am headed to Bhara Kahu, a small town on the outskirts of Islamabad which is Qadri’s ancestral village.

Driving up through Bhara Kahu, the road is dusty and disheveled. Approximately 25 minutes from Kohsar Market, where Taseer was tragically gunned down, there is an alarming array of pro-Qadri slogans etched onto walls of this serene locality. A sharp left turn off the main road takes you straight to the compound where the killer is buried.

Despite being under-construction, it is occupied even at 9AM on a Saturday by at least a dozen men. The attendees appear relaxed, perched next to his rose petal-covered grave. There is a shop outside the shrine that sells flowers and flaunts a meek collection of photographs of the assassin. At the counter in the shop, lies a note. It reads, “Donate tee iron, bricks, cement, grinded stone or cash and earn yourself a place in the eternal heaven.”

Qadri’s own house is not far from the shrine. “Quite often, his son makes an appearance and sings naats,” says Bilal, a by-stander at the shop. His reverence is disturbing.

Adorned in rose petals, the assassin’s grave is a step lower than the cement structure being erected around it.

“To pray at his grave is a guaranteed way to have it answered, for Qadri has earned a place at the side of the Prophet (PBUH) through his sacrifice,” he added, as we walked through the courtyard into the shrine.

Bilal’s belief is linked to the miracle of intercession granted to saints (awliya) in the popular imagination of the subcontinent. It is what makes going to their mausoleums (ziyarat) such a widespread phenomenon.

Conceived by his father and other close relatives, the 'Mumtaz Qadri Shaheed Foundation' supervises the construction of the shrine, which is still in its infancy. It is said that on the first day after his funeral, Rs80 million came in the form of donations, with a steady stream continuing since. Visitors who give donations at the desk beside the shrine, where the elders are seated, are given a coloured receipt to keep for record.

It is chilling; the sense that Qadri’s shrine is becoming more than a place of burial to some. That it is believed to be a haven for those who subscribe to the ideology that lead to the governor’s murder.

It has hardly been a year since his execution yet the process of his canonisation is utterly complete. While the outcry against his trial and execution and the subsequent construction of this shrine might bewilder some of us, in the hearts and minds of his sympathisers Qadri’s saintly status is beyond question.

Mehmood Khan, indistinguishably plain in attire, is one of dozens who had come to pay their respect. He proudly claims, “I was lucky to be standing in the first row of the [Qadri's] funeral, as cars had blocked the roads for miles around. I even have a jar of dirt from his grave, which I keep safe in my house.”

“It gets much busier towards evening, when people who come from places like Faisalabad or Gujranwala arrive,” Mehmood adds.

Already, the stories circulating around the shrine are acquiring an air of myth. The legacy of Qadri, a man who was buried a convicted murderer, will survive. As things stand, it will get more deeply entrenched in the cultural kaleidoscope that is Pakistan. It is a mirror to a dark reality; a sign of the direction society can choose despite the law of the land.

WRT Gen Bajwa,
I think with Naveed Mukhtar, the new ISI chief in pace too, I think the Pak Fauj is going through a phase of consolidation and assessment /taking stock of their planned misadventures.
What should they do wrt strategic depth, and push taliban into afghanistan? Should they consolidate on the durand line?
Should they kill some more baloch? Kill some more pashtoons?
Should they conduct a terror strike in a major indian city? What happened to their Nepal, Sri-lanka and Bangladesh access? Are politicians in India's border states adequately ghoosed up? Assess IA's security grid for terrorism once the snow melts in May-June 2017.
What to do about the retired faujis who have gone to train ISIS walas in Iraq?

So many avenues to conduct haramigiri - decisions, decisions

BTW, is Naveed Mukhtar a shia? If he is, then this is a masterstroke by Badmash.

An Ahmedi COAS, and a Shia ISI chief...

No wonder Zardari (Shia) is harrumping around in Karachi - not just because Raheel is gone.

^^Exactly right. Porkarmy has just 3 modes: attacking us/plotting to attack us/licking their wounds temporarily while plotting their next attack. Piss is possible only when they are destroyed.
