2005-our neighbour was the Mysore Sandal Soap stall.

No more stalls post 2009 due to manpower constraints.

We will have one when the first sqn of Tiger Moths Mk 100 is raised and operationalised. So,Aero India 2021

From AW&ST
A T-50 model will be on display at Aero India 2017.

..

UEC will bring its AL-41F-1S turbojet engine. It powers Sukhoi Su-35 4++-generation fighters, but the manufacturer says it also demonstrates new technologies that can be used to design future powerplants. “UEC is ready to develop engines for future combat aircraft—fifth-generation fighters and advanced medium combat aircraft—together with the Indian partners within the 'Make in India' program or on its own,” says a company official. The partners are expected to discuss the joint programs’ next steps this spring during the bilateral defense conference in New Delhi.

United Aircraft Corp. (UAC) will bring models of most of its product range to the upcoming air show. The Sukhoi Superjet 100 will be the only Russian aircraft on static display. A model of the Yakovlev Yak-152 primary trainer initially developed by UAC for the Russian military will be debuted.

UEC will be displaying its latest VK-2500PS helicopter engine, the TV7-117SM turboprop for regional aircraft, as well as its major future commercial product, the PD-14 turbofan engine developed for Russia’s new MC-21 narrowbody airliner.

It's most likely that I'm going to miss the show for the first time ever due to various reasons.I was there a couple of decades ago at the very first, which was a delightful little affair. The int. feature of that show was the two attack helos from Russia, now evolved into the KA-50/52 and KA-28NH. I think that that was the first unveiling abroad of the two helos. The Alligator with a stack of missiles, rockets, etc.,looked awesome.

Guys, keep a close watch on the merits/details of the items that we are likely to purchase, like the second light fighter, where the Gripen now has maritime ambitions too.At the last show the DRDO unveiled two new stealthy stand-off munitions.New torpedoes,UUVs,UCAVs may appear. The competition for these deals needs to be featured well in the show reports.
Shiv did make an official show report/DVD some shows ago .I still have it!

So enjoy yourselves and if poss.,have a great BRF bash as we used to do!

Caught their practice routine this afternoon. Btw, if no bags are allowed, how does one take cameras, water, sunscreen etc etc?

I have joined BRF Recently as a member though i am a daily reader of various topics here since a year. I am attending Aero India as well on 15th February 2017. Skipped 14th as date thinking it would be crowded with dignitaries coming in on opening ceremony.

I think the pass i have includes pavillion access as well probably. I'd be glad to ask questions on behalf of anyone who is unable to attend the event.

Would also be great if anyone can advice me whether 70-300mm lens would be good for the occasion.

Hey Akshat,
A 70-300mm lens is quite sufficient to catch most photos unless you are looking to get some published..

300mm is good enough for all static things. At high zoom (even for static things sometimes, let alone moving jets) hand shake anyway screws up pics unless you have very fast lens with full frame camera letting you use a very high shutter speed.

I have cheap 55-200mm Nikon lens. Its OK of sort. Almost useless for Fighter Air Display. But good enough for ground crawling things or slow flyers.

Thanks a ton. Sadly, couldn't rent a 70-300MM lens. Just rented D5100 with 18-55 and 55-200mm lens for Air Show. I am doubtful if they'll help or not. I am taking the risk as its cheap and well within 1k budget for a day's rent.

Ohh..OK. I have 200mm lens with D5200. Was thinking of renting a 400mm lens. But might not do that. Biz ticket plus rent for lens is too much expense. Where did you rent from..?

An is/vr lens helps a ton. Atleast it did for me . And more focal length is always welcome. Though if you're length challenged, you can shoot accordingly. There will be times the air displays are close enough for 250mm. I remember reading somewhere that aircraft don't fly overhead n all. Si they won't get closer than 100mm distance.

So folks,
No indication of F-16 from PACAF at AI-17? It kinda was a regular for the last few years...I really hope Tejas does Bahrain kind take-off but may be not possible since AI min altitude stipulations might be higher than other air shows.

I am thinking of going on Wednesday. Any pointers on transport? AFAIK, the airport bus is the only direct bus, but it does not stop at YNK. Cab is there, of course, but would prefer the bus. Self-drive as last resort onlee.

Do not go self drive, the traffic would be killer!! The bus does not stop but I believe BMTC will operate special buses to and from th3 venue. Will probably get the details tomorrow in the paper. Else cabs would be the best way to go.

Government of Karnataka uses sexed up image of Tornados to promote itself an airshow. Our people are so embarrassingly ignorant. They don't seem to know that one aircraft is different from another and imagine that everyone else is equally clueless

Came back to hotel a bit early, since the stall guys didn't finish their thing. Expecting a loong day tomorrow.

In the morning, there was terr-friggin-ible traffic. We had to go through a number of xxxhalli to get to the place. Surprisingly, security was non-existent. I walked in while the soldierboy went to get passes issued. Walked all the way to the stalls/displays without any problem. Saw a number of families/ladies/kids there.

I sent the company invite to Dr Saab, requesting to fwd to the jirga members who contact him. I won't disclose the KB name here. If anyone want to meet, you can e-mail at dileepks on jeemeyil, or better, put on your detective cap and figure out without asking.

Just read on a news website that DRDO is going to allow allow public to check out Cockpit of LSP-1 from Pilots seat. If the news is true than it will be a great opportunity for Tejas fans to have a moment to remember for life . I wish i was in bengalaru next week .

Dileep saar, would be happy if you could take some time on Wednesday so we can go do taank-jhaank of the layout. Can't fly it but at the least, we can do the simulation. :-)
