Muslim organisation announces Rs 10 lakh reward for beheading Tarek Fatah
A Bareilly-based Muslim organisation has announced a “reward” of Rs 10 lakh to behead Islamic scholar Tarek Fatah for allegedly promoting “un-Islamic” views through his TV programme. The All-India Faisan-e-Madina Council also demanded an immediate ban on ‘Fateh ka Fatwa’, a television programme hosted by Fatah on a private news channel.
“Tarek Fatah is conspiring to disrupt harmony between Hindus and Muslims. He is as an agent of our enemies. He must be stopped at any cost and our organisation will pay Rs 10,00,786 ( note the Islamic twist by way of the "786") to any person who will decapitate him,” said Moeen Siddique, head of the council.
Fateh, a Canadian national of Pakistani origin, is known for his secular views against Islamic fundamentalism.
“Fatwa is a religious edict, which can only be issued by a recognised Muslim cleric. Fateh is neither a cleric nor he has any knowledge about Quran. His progarmme has hurt the sentiments of the followers of Islam,” reads the letter sent to the President by Nasir Qureshi, the convenor of the Jamat Raza-e-Mustafa.Both the organisations have also demanded immediate ban on the private news channel that airs the said programme.

Islamists protest Bangladesh court’s Greek statue - AFP
Hundreds of supporters of a hardline Bangladesh Islamist group staged protests on Friday calling for the statue of a Greek goddess installed at the Supreme Court to be destroyed or removed.

The sculpture of Themis, the blindfolded deity of justice and order, has ruffled feathers in the Muslim-majority nation since it was unveiled late last year on the premises of the country’s top court.

Crowds led by the fundamentalist Hefazat-e-Islam group spilled onto the streets of Dhaka after Friday prayers, demanding the immediate removal of the statue. They chanted slogans and wielded placards with slogans such as “Demolish the statue on the court premises and replace it with the Koran”.

The protests come as hardline Islamists try to push a series of changes in school textbooks, which are overwhelmingly secular, to reflect Muslim traditions.

Security in the area around Baitul Mukarram, the country’s national mosque in the capital, has been increased, said local police chief Rafiqul Islam, adding that “at least 1,000 people” were thought to have joined a rally there. Hundreds of protesters joined a similar rally in the country's second largest city Chittagong, the police said.

The image of Themis is used to represent fairness, law and custom in countries across the world.

Shrine to Islamist murderer reveals Pakistan's challenges

BARA KAHU: Pakistan has renewed its vow to root out extremism after a fresh wave of attacks, but a rose-covered shrine in Islamabad built by radicals to glorify an Islamist murderer sends a different message.

Followers of Mumtaz Qadri feted him as a hero at his tomb on Monday, the start of a three-day festival marking the anniversary of his hanging+ on February 29, 2016.

Qadri assassinated liberal Punjab governor Salman Taseer in 2011, angered by the politician's reformist stance on Pakistan's controversial blasphemy laws. The state's decision to execute him provoked uproar among Islamists.

"There could be 400,000 people," Qadri's father Malik Bashir Awan said as he supervised preparations for the commemoration from his plastic chair at the shrine.

Up to 200 followers were praying and enjoying free food at the shrine on Monday, many coming and going through police-manned entry points, with more expected ahead of a conference Wednesday where clerics will make speeches about Qadri's "sacrifice".

Pakistan will also host a regional economic summit in Islamabad on Wednesday that will be attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, with high security expected.

Yet authorities appear unwilling to oppose the Qadri commemorations+ .

And while the government showed unexpected determination by executing Qadri, his family say it did not prevent them from sanctifying him with the white marble tomb, adorned with four tapered minarets and a tiled green dome.

Each day dozens visit the shrine, built on a family plot bordering Islamabad but within the capital's territory, to seek divine intervention and leave flowers.

The gestures glorifying the fundamentalist are a perverse echo of popular South Asian traditions venerating mystical, tolerant Sufi saints, many of whom helped spread Islam through the subcontinent.

Qadri's family do not intend to stop there. His father hopes to build a madrassa (religious school) on the site and donations are already pouring in.

The shrine is a glaring demonstration of how, despite military success in fighting insurgents, Pakistan has made little progress in tackling the underlying causes of extremism.

A military-led crackdown supported by the government's vaunted National Action Plan led to a dramatic improvement in security since 2014.

But critics have long argued the initiatives do not go far enough.

Then, a wave of apparently coordinated attacks+ over the last fortnight killed 130 people and shredded optimism. Analysts say there are "visible signs" militants are regrouping.

"It's turmoil again," Asha'ar Rehman, the Lahore editor of leading daily Dawn, told AFP.

For Arif Jamal, an expert on radical Islamism, the presence of the shrine bolsters beliefs that contribute to extremism.

"Even for a peaceful Pakistani, the mere existence of such a shrine convinces people that the killing of Salmaan Taseer was actually good," he said.

"It is a first step in radicalisation."

But cleric Hanif Qureshi, whose fiery speeches helped inspire Qadri's actions, was dismissive.

"One year has passed, nobody has killed anyone," he said.

Observers are divided over the government's inaction.

Saif-ul-Mulook, one of the prosecutors at Qadri's trials, says the government's will is "weak".

"Knowingly paying homage to... (a murderer who) has been judged a terrorist by the highest court in the Constitution of Pakistan — what poorer moral standard can a society show?"

However, the cost of taking action could outweigh the dangers of allowing the memorial to flourish, said Zeeshan Salahuddin of the Center for Research and Security Studies.

"If the government takes a step, goes after this shrine, there's a very, very good chance there's going to be anarchy in the streets," he said.

The sanctuary's existence also encourages supporters of the blasphemy laws, a hugely sensitive issue in Pakistan, where even unproven allegations can result in lynchings.

Critics — including the assassinated Taseer — have said the laws, which can carry the death penalty, are routinely abused to carry out personal vendettas.

Cleric Qureshi said Qadri is venerated for his defence of the Prophet.

"There is no debate, only very few people are against Qadri," he insisted. "All Pakistanis love him."

There are concerns that if Qadri's family build their madrassa, they could train a new generation of religious fanatics, like at the influential and radical Red Mosque which has long operated in the heart of Islamabad.

Muhammad Noman, a 26-year-old visiting the tomb from Karachi, told AFP he was inspired by Qadri.

"He sacrificed his life for our faith. May God give us opportunities like him to give our lives," he said calmly.

BASSEM YOUSSEF SAYS MUSLIMS HAVE THE SAME ATTITUDES TOWARDS MINORITIES AS TRUMP
On Thursday, in an interview with Germany's international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW), famous Egyptian satirist Bassem Youssef claimed that US President Donald Trump's rhetoric towards Muslims and other minorities in the US mirrors the same attitude Arabs and Muslims have towards minorities in their own countries."We're afraid that Trump will do to Muslims what many of the majority Muslim countries do to non-Muslims," stated Youssef during the live segment. His controversial remarks quickly went viral, with many applauding Youssef’s view on the matter, while others shunned it as a pro-Trump Islamophobic attitude that comes poorly timed during an international trend of discrimination against Muslims and Arabs. Here are some of the tweets.

Islam will be largest religion in the world by 2070, says report Independent UK

Islam will overtake Christianity as the largest religion in the world in 2070, according to projections

Islam is the only religion growing faster than the world's population, and it will be the largest in the world by 2070, research has found.

US-based Pew Research Centre analysed demographic change among the world's major religions and found that the world's population of Muslims will grow by 73 per cent between 2010 and 2050, compared to 35 per cent for Christians, the next fastest-growing faith.

The world's population will grow by 37 per cent over the same period. If those rates of growth continue past 2050, Muslims will outnumber Christians by 2070, the report found.

It also says that Muslims will make up 10 per cent of Europe's population.

In 2010 there were 1.6bn Muslims in the world, and 2.17bn Christians. By 2050, there will be 2.76bn Muslims and 2.92bn Christians - and if both religions continue at that rate of growth, Islam will have a larger number of followers than Christianity by 2070.

Atheists, agnostics and non-religious people will decline from 16.4 per cent of the world's population to 13.2 per cent by 2050, the report added, despite growing in Europe and North America.

The changes are partly due to the various fertility rates each religion has. Muslims have the highest, at 3.1 children per woman, followed by Christians, at 2.7.

Islam also has a much younger follower-base than other religions, meaning believers still have childbearing years ahead. 34 per cent are aged under 15, compared to a global average of 27 per cent.

Christianity is also likely to suffer as more converts leave to become non-religious or to join other faiths, the report predicted.

Around 40 million people are projected to switch into Christianity globally, while 106 million are predicted to leave.

The report also summarises findings from a survey last year into European attitudes towards Muslims.

"Majorities in Hungary, Italy, Poland and Greece say they view Muslims unfavorably, while negative attitudes toward Muslims are much less common in France, Germany, the United Kingdom and elsewhere in Northern and Western Europe.

"People who place themselves on the right side of the ideological scale are much more likely than those on the left to see Muslims negatively," it said.

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world and will overtake Christianity as the most popular before the end of this century, according to an analysis of religious surveys published by the Pew Research Center | With 1.6 billion, Muslims made up 23 percent of the world’s population

Nothing new that has not been written before on this topic ; but the danger is likely to be the changing demographics in Europe and North America, which may bring in policies that are not in interest of these nations !

It is better for India if Islam reaches 20%-25% in Europe very quickly. Then the Anti India forces will unravel very quickly. But the problem the greatest growth in numbers is coming from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh so the confrontation is more likely here rather than in Europe where the below 5% population can be easily controlled. Even France has only 7.5% population, Britain some 2.5%. So I see Europe and North America there is no Danger and there is a lot of time. If at all somebody has to fear it is those who are a different religion other Islam in the subcontinent. Temporary Mutta Partnerships with other groups will be formed like Yadav and 1 by 1 Non muslim groupings in the subcontinent will be wiped out unless they realize the danger. Aldready sucessfully implemented in West Pakistan, Kashmir Valley and Bangladesh. and at local level in Malda, Mallapuram and Khairana.

The fear of Islamism in Europe and Norrth America is being necessarily over exaggerated. they are safe for atleast anther 50-100 years. These fears are more from people who have emigrated to N.America, Europe and Australia and feel that the problem left at home could catch up there, but it is mostly irrational fear.

Islam Getting A "Bad Name" In Austaralia

Pauline Hanson blasts Muslims, praises Putin, questions vaccines in ABC interview
Muslims want to impose Sharia law because they "hate Western society," Australia needs a "strong" leader like Vladimir Putin and the government must stop "blackmailing" parents into vaccinating their children, Pauline Hanson has told the ABC.
Senator Hanson - who will spend the next week in Western Australia as One Nation seeks to make gains at next weekend's state election - used the interview to ratchet up her attack on Islam and its followers, making no distinction between radical and moderate adherents of the religion.Unless Malsi is reformed (and politics is removed from religion like Christianity ), and modernized, (and the power of the Mullahs are broken) all Muslims, sad to say, will be treated suspiciously !
"It is purporting to be a religion but I believe it is a political ideology who want to impose their Sharia law and impose their way of life and their thoughts, processes, on the rest of our society," she said."They hate Western society. They want to change us. Do you want to be changed? Would you be happy under Islam?"

Two Stories On The "Islamization of Bali " :

Bali Refuses To Buckle Against Saudi Pressure !

‘We will leave our statues bare’: Bali Governor says statues won’t be covered up during Saudi king visit like in Bogor
Statues in Bali will not be covered up for Saudi King Salman’s forthcoming visit, says the island’s governor, Made Mangku Pastika.“Bali is famous for being comfortable, safe, and tolerant, so we will leave it as is. (Sculptures) will not be covered,” Pastika said, as quoted by Tribun Bali.
However, things in Bogor were a different story. Many (but not all) statues were reportedly “hidden” during the king’s visit to the presidential palace in the West Java town on Wednesday. Would not be surprised is Saudi "cheque diplomacy" is at play here
Supporting Pastika’s assertions that Bali statues will be left as is, were comments from Karioka, the Managing Director of BTDC, the complex in Nusa Dua where the king will be staying (which has loads of statues).“Compared with overseas statues, such as in Europe, those ones there are more vulgar,” Karioka told Tribun.
Instead Of A Wahabi Mosque "Islamic Boarding School" Being Built In Bali !

Kofi Annan to speak at Bali Democracy Forum
Nov. 30, 2016
The annual Bali Democracy Forum has some big names poised to speak at this year’s conference, among them, former United Nations secretary general, Ghanaian diplomat, Kofi Annan
In addition to holding various panel discussions related to the conference’s theme, BDF participants will also conduct a site visit to an Islamic boarding school in Tabanan, Bali.
“It’s something unique, because Bali, as a majority Hindu province, has such a boarding school. Although it’s Muslim, members still follow Balinese culture, such as dancing, while using the headscarf,” Andayani said
- How long will "Balinese dancing while using a handscarf " will now continue is anybody's guess !
- Interesting to know if the "Islamic Boarding School" will receive a fresh injection of Saudi money, while the Ummah Head is "holidaying" here and will the King grace his "presence" by paying a visit there
- During the duration of the King's stay there, it would be advisable, for the women keep a "low profile", in view of the "special reputation" of Arab men!

Trump Admin Gets Tough On Paki Origin Publicity Seeker And Ex- Hillary Supporter - Khizir Khan?

Khizr Khan claims travel privileges under review .
Gold Star father Khizr Khan’s “freedom to travel abroad” is reportedly under review, and he says he doesn’t know why.Khan was scheduled to speak at a luncheon in Toronto on Tuesday “on what we can do about the appalling turn of events in Washington — so that we don’t all end up sacrificing everything.” The two-hour event was to include a presentation and then a question-and-answer session. Shameless way to "drum up" a living !
But Khan was told late Sunday that his traveling privileges were under review, according to Ramsay Talks, which organized the luncheon.“As a consequence, Mr. Khan will not be traveling to Toronto on March 7th to speak about tolerance, understanding, unity and the rule of law,” it said in a statement. “Very regretfully, Ramsay Talks must cancel its luncheon with Mr. Khan. Guests will be given full refunds.”Individual tickets were priced at about $100. Due to the large Paki population in Toronto, many of the same group would have come to hear him out !
Khan said in a statement that he was confused about why his travel status changed, without explaining in detail the circumstance.
“This turn of events is not just of deep concern to me but to all my fellow Americans who cherish our freedom to travel abroad,” Khan said. “I have not been given any reason as to why. I am grateful for your support and look forward to visiting Toronto in the near future.” This "Muslim" Apologist from Pakistan, is probably feeling the financial pinch and exploring all sorts of avenue to capitalize on his "five minute of fame"

Mecca Modernized Into A Mall

The destruction of Mecca
AS THE governor of Mecca, Prince Khalid bin Faisal Al Saud has been able to compensate for earlier failings. He came to his role in 2007 from Asir province, where his plans to erect modern tower blocks in the city of Abha were largely unfulfilled. He successfully erased Abha’s quaint old town, with its beehive houses made of wattle, only to replace them with squat breeze-block bungalows. Not a high-rise was to be seen.
Now, on top of what was Mecca’s old city of lattice balconies and riwaq arches, the prince has overseen the Middle East’s largest development project. Skyscrapers soar above Islam’s holiest place, dwarfing the granite Kaaba far below. Diggers flatten hills that were once dotted with the homes of the Prophet’s wives, companions and first caliphs. Motorways radiate out from the vast new shrine. Local magnates are as keen to build as the government. Jabal Omar Development, a consortium of old Meccan families, is investing hundreds of millions of dollars to erect two 50-floor towers on the site of the third caliph’s house. Such is the pace that for a time the holy city’s logo was a bulldozer. Saudi show-baazi on display
Demolition, say officials, is the inevitable price of expansion. In 1950, before it all began, 50,000 pilgrims perambulated round the Kaaba, the heart of the haj ritual. Last year, 7.5m did so. Within three years, the authorities are planning to double that huge number. “There’s no other solution,” says Anas Serafi, an architect and member of the board of Jabal Omar Development. “How else could we absorb millions of pilgrims?” Casualties are a regrettable by-product: in September 2015, the world’s largest mobile crane toppled on the Grand Mosque, killing 107 pilgrims. But two weeks later more than 2,000 pilgrims were killed in a stampede, highlighting the dangers of a lack of space.
As Mecca’s custodian, King Salman bin Abdel Aziz sees both his prestige and his pocket benefit from the increasing traffic. Under the government’s transformation plan, revenue from pilgrimages will grow to compete with those from oil. Billions are being spent on railways, parking for 18,000 buses to transport pilgrims and hotels for them to stay in, heavy with gilded chandeliers. The McDonald’s golden arches gleam outside the gates of the Grand Mosque. Consumerism seems to be the "New Religion" of the Saudis !
Out went the city’s heterogeneous mix of Maliki, Shafii and Zaydi rites; in came homogenisation under the Wahhabi creed. Alongside the black and white dress they forced on women and men respectively, the new tribal rulers reshaped the urban environment, stripping away the past. They replaced the four pulpits at the foot of the Kaaba, one for each of Sunni Islam’s schools, with a single one, exclusively for Wahhabi preachers. They cleansed the faith of saint-worship, demolishing shrines venerated by Shia and traditional Sunnis alike. Before the "oil gush", the Saudis used to rely on dates, loot and plunder and Haj fees to make their living ; at the present, oil revenues are declining, so they are trying to revive the "Haj trade", along with export of dates ! They still need to figure out the modern version of "loot and plunder "

Indian Mohammaddens in Uttar Pradesh now fall prey to the well demonstrated urge from around the world for Mohammaddens to slaughter co-religionists for obscure difference in interpretation of the tenents of their shared belief.

Members of Sunni Mohammadden outfit, Islamic State (IS) aka ISIS, in Uttar Pradesh, were planning to indulge in a spot of Green on Green Intra-Mohammadden bloodletting by carrying out serial blasts at Deva Shareef, a shrine dedicated to a Sufi Mohammadden by name of Waris Ali Shah.

Yesterdays bombing of the Bhopal – Ujjain passenger train near Jabri in Madhya Pradesh was apparently a trial run to “test efficasy” of the pipe bombs planned for the Green on Green attack planned for Deva Shareef:
Members of the state’s first Islamic State (IS) cell were planning to carry out serial blasts at Deva Shareef—the shrine of most-revered Sufi saint, Waris Ali Shah—on March 27, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) has found.

Details of an elaborate plan to attack the shrine were recovered from a laptop used by one of the cell’s member, who was picked up after a blast on Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train on Tuesday.

Two youths — Faizan and Imran of Kanpur — were picked up after the blast, another Saifullah was neutralised in Lucknow while a mobile shop owner Azhar of Kanpur escaped.

Sources said the bombs used in the explosion were a part of a ‘trial’ to test the efficacy of the explosives that the IS cell had planned to use at the Sufi shrine.
From Hindustan Tiimes:

X Posted from the “Pakistani Role In Global Terrorism” thread.

Analyses of 269 Islamism-related offences (IROs) between 1998 and 2015 in the UK which have resulted in convictions (264) or death of perpetrators in the suicide attacks they conducted (5) carried out by Hannah Stuart of the UK think tank, The Henry Jackson Society.

As expected analyses shows those with ancestry from the Mohammadden Terrorism fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan are solidly represented.

24.9 % of Islamic Related Offences (IROs) were committed by those termed “British-Pakistani”, 4.8% by those termed “Pakistani” and 2.2% by those termed “British-Pakistani or Pakistani” {Dual National’s?} for a grand total of Pakistani’s in various variants amounting to 31.9% of IROs. Meanwhile it is well possible that the Pakistani share of IROs could be higher given that the “Unspecified” category comes to 14.9%. For the above statistics please refer “Figure 5b Ancestry by country” on page marked 929 of the report.

Bali defends decision not to cover up statues for Saudi King Salman's visit - Straits Times
DENPASAR, Indonesia (AFP) - Indonesia's Hindu resort island of Bali on Wednesday (March 8) defended a decision not to cover up any of its ubiquitous statues of deities and semi-naked women during a visit by the Saudi king.

King Salman and a 1,000-strong entourage are enjoying a week-long holiday in Bali after a state visit to Jakarta, during the first trip by a Saudi monarch to Indonesia in nearly half a century.

When he met President Joko Widodo for talks at a palace in Bogor, near the capital, officials hid some naked statues in the grounds by covering them with cloth and putting plants around them as a sign of respect for the Muslim monarch.

But officials on Bali - a pocket of Hinduism in the world's most populous Muslim-majority nation - said that they would not extend the same courtesy.

The island, which attracts millions of foreign visitors every year to its palm-fringed beaches, is home to many statues of Hindu gods and bare-chested women. In the past, Balinese women often wore only sarongs that did not cover their chests.

"We're just going to leave (the statues) as they are, we don't have to cover up anything because it is our culture," Bali local government spokesman Dewa Mahendra told AFP.

He said that they "are cultural creations, they are art".

Local authorities had not received a request from the Saudi king or his party to hide any of statues from view, Mahendra said
, adding they were more focused on ensuring the monarch's safety.

Strict interpretations of Islam forbid the creation of images of living beings - such as statues of women - and worship of idols.

The king and his entourage are staying in five luxury hotels for the holiday, which ends on Sunday.

Other places have hidden naked statues for visiting Muslim leaders. Last year a Rome museum covered up classical nude sculptures in temporary wooden cartons during a visit by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

Indonesia is one of the highlights on the king's three-week Asian tour. He started the visit in Malaysia and will also visit Japan, China and the Maldives.

Another "Tale Of Caution" For Those Planning A Holiday For "Fun In The Sun" Destination In U.A.E

Expat couple arrested in Abu Dhabi for sex outside of marriage
An expatriate couple have been detained in Abu Dhabi for almost six weeks after being arrested for having sex outside of marriage. South African Emlyn Culverwell, 29, took his 27-year-old Ukrainian fiancée, Iryna Nohai, to a medical centre in the UAE city after she developed stomach cramps. The doctor said she was pregnant and informed authorities after they could not provide marriage certificates. They were first brought to Yas Police Station, before being moved to Al Wathba Prison. Do their " tourism publicity posters " advertise this fact
His employer, Yas Waterworld, told his family that police were still investigating and Ms Nohai was apparently undergoing "further tests" to determine how long she had been sexually active."For heaven’s sake, how can they supposedly determine that?" Mrs Culverwell told News24."It must feel as if she is being raped by the authorities.“The only thing they did which was wrong, was to fall in love. It makes no sense. Anecdotal evidence suggests that "you can probably get away with anything, if you have the right connections or pull" !
A spokesperson for the department, Nelson Kgwete, told the South African news website that the government could do nothing about it as it was a matter of UAE laws. A British couple, Michelle Palmer, 36, and Vince Acors, 34, were jailed for three months after having sex on a beach in Dubai in 2008. They had their sentences suspended when they signed a court document agreeing to marry on their return to England.
Whether that "sharia court document" has any legal validity in Londonistan is anybody's guess :)

Tall Claims In The Name of Malsi !

Muslim prayer ritual can reduce lower back pain, increase elasticity of joints: Western research
WASHINGTON – Endorsing benefits of Muslim prayer ritual, a recent research has claimed that the complex physical movements of the Muslim prayer ritual can reduce lower back pain and increase the elasticity of joints if performed regularly and properly.According to the Hindustan Times, the paper was published in the latest issue of the International Journal of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
“One way to think about the movements is that they are similar to those of yoga or physical therapy intervention exercises used to treat low back pain,” said Professor and Systems Science and Industrial Engineering Department Chair Mohammad Khasawneh, who is one of the authors of “An ergonomic study of body motions during Muslim prayer using digital human modelling.” Not to be left behind, are the "faithfools" trying to do an = = to Yoga and re-furbish the tainted image of Malsi
Working with Khasawneh, an interfaith team of Assistant Professor Faisal Aqlan from the Department of Industrial Engineering at Penn State Behrend, Assistant Professor Abdulaziz Ahmed from the Business Department at the University of Minnesota Crookston, and Performance Improvement Consultant Wen Cao from the Department of Operational Performance Improvement at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center were all co-authors of the paper. Have they run out of technical topics to do research on
According to the research team, using incorrect angles and movements can increase pain (rocket science ? ) . The team also suggested that further study is required for disabled individuals, those with more extreme body types and women — especially pregnant women — to find the best movements for these groups. The group plans to further validate the findings with physical experiments using sensors and cameras to track the stresses on the parts of human body during the prayer. Is Saudi check -book diplomacy behind this so-called ground -breaking research

India to have world's largest Muslim population by 2050
ndia will overtake Indonesia as the country with the largest number of Muslims in 2050 while Hindus will become the world's third largest population by that time, according to a new study by US think-tank Pew research centre.According to the Centre's religious profile predictions assessed data released in February this year, Muslims are projected to grow faster than the world's overall population and that Hindus and Christians are to roughly keep pace with worldwide population growth."India will retain a Hindu majority - with their population rising to 1.3 billion - but also will have the largest Muslim population of any country in the world, surpassing Indonesia," the Pew report said.
According to Pew in 2011, Indonesia had a Muslim population of about 205 million as against India's 177 million.
he projections considered fertility rates, trends in youth population growth and religious conversion statistics. For Muslims, this age is 22 as compared to Hindus for whom the age is 26. The median age for Christians is 28. Muslim women in India have an average of 3.2 children per woman against Hindu women who have 2.5 children per woman, while Christian women have 2.3 children per woman.
The Muslim population will rise faster increasing from 14.4 per cent in 2010 to 18.4 per cent of the total population in 2050, according to the report. What kind of impact this will have on Indo-Pak relations is anybody's guess !

Muslims miss 'sabka saath', down from 69 to 24 MLAs

LUCKNOW: In Uttar Pradesh, where Muslims comprise 19% of the population, the number from the minority community in the House has declined to 24. It's a marked difference from the 2012 polls when 69 Muslim MLAs entered the legislature.

In a state where Muslims are a sizeable vote bank, BJP did not field a single Muslim in the 403 seats. Muslims have a strong presence in west UP, Rohilkhand, Terai and east UP, and they, along with Yadavs and Dalits, have been the core vote bank of Congress, SP and BSP.

This social arithmetic traditionally made them key in candidate selection.

Fewer Muslims on the victory podium indicates that the community's voting preference against BJP was offset by a bigger consolidation of Hindu castes in what is known as reverse polarisation.

A key objective of SP's decision to ally with Congress was to consolidate the Muslim votes. The fear was that the Muslim votes would split between SP and BSP, and help BJP sneak through.

The campaign was not bereft of BJP's usual tactics to appeal to communal sentiments. PM Modi stirred things up with his `Ramzan vs Diwali' comments, implying unfair treatment to Hindus by SP.

The perception that Muslims vote en bloc, and tactically, is one that BJP seems to have used to its advantage, though the jury is out on whether the landslide is due to fatigue with regional parties or an expression of Hindu polarisation.

NRI from Australia held for helping friend to rape his wife

HYDERABAD: A non-resident Indian (NRI) from Australia and his mother were arrested on Monday by the Kanchanbagh police after he allegedly forced his wife to have unnatural sex with him. He also allegedly allowed his friend to rape his 21-year-old wife recently.

The Kanchanbagh police said Mohammed Salimuddin had married the woman in 2016 and later left for Australia to pursue post-graduation. He used to ask her to get nude and video chat with him. He would also ask her to send her nude videos. With no other option left, the victim used to send her videos to Salim, who in turn would show them to his friends in Australia, police said.

On February 13, Salim returned to India and since then has been forcing his wife to have anal sex. A few days ago, Salim took his friend Chand, a resident of Hafeez Baba Nagar, to his residence. The victim was given sleeping pills and then Salim started to get intimate with his wife. To her surprise, she discovered that someone else was also in their bedroom and it turned out to be Chand. "The victim fell asleep and Salim allowed his friend Chand to rape her. The victim realised what happened the next morning and complained to us," deputy commissioner of police (South Zone) V Satyanarayana said.

Based on the victim's four-page complaint, the Kanchanbagh police arrested Salim on Monday.

Employers can ban female workers from wearing headscarves, European court rules

Employers are allowed to ban female workers from wearing headscarves, the top court in Europe has ruled.

According to the European Court of Justice (ECJ), employers are permitted to prevent staff from the ‘visible wearing of any political, philosophical or religious sign’.

The ban must be based on company rules that require all employees to ‘dress neutrally’, the court added.

Visualizations Related to Status of Face Veil Bans in Europe

The ECJ’s first ruling on the issue was prompted by the case of a receptionist who was sacked for wearing a headscarf at the company G4S in Belgium.

Samira Achbita lost her job after three years of employment when she started wearing a headscarf to work.

She claimed she suffered discrimination on religious grounds, but the ECJ ruled in the company’s favour.

The court said the firm had amended workplace rules to forbid staff ‘from wearing any visible signs of their political, philosophical or religious beliefs and/or from engaging in any observance of such beliefs’.

Because this covered ‘any manifestation of such beliefs without distinction’, the court said, her sacking was not discriminatory.

The court ruled that ‘an employer’s desire to project an image of neutrality towards both its public and private sector customers is legitimate’, as long as this policy is applied to every employee.

A Hindu As "Haj Minister"

Will BJP Appoint a Hindu as the Haj Minister in Uttar Pradesh?
Lucknow: When it forms the government in Uttar Pradesh after the landslide electoral win the Bharatiya Janata Party will be faced with a unique question at least on one front - who will be the minister in charge of Minority Welfare and Haj.The department directly deals with around 20 percent population in a state which has the largest number of Muslims in the country. The party which talks about 'sabka saath sabka vikas' has not a single Muslim member in the Legislative Assembly or the Legislative Council. In the just-concluded Assembly Elections in which the BJP bagged 324 seats along with allies, out of 403 seats, it had not given tickets to any Muslims.
Out of 24-odd Muslim MLAs who have won, 17 are from the Samajwadi party, five are from the BSP, and two from the Congress.
So, how will the BJP deal with this situation? Will it search for a Muslim face within the party? Afterall, in the past there were leaders like Aizaz Rizvi and her daughter Seema Rizvi who were the party's voice in the upper house and a minority face in the state cabinet.
But getting a non-Muslim to head the department of Minority Affairs and Haj is not as easy as the BJP leaders make it out to be. The minister of the department is also the head of the Haj committee. Will BJP dare keep a Hindu in that seat?
Brijesh Shukla, a senior journalist and someone who had covered BJP...
"Earlier it was the era of Atal-ji. He always kept some options available. It was the reason why a section of Shia community in Lucknow remained warm towards the party. Today it's BJP of Amit Shah and Modi era, where such nitty grittys are probably ignored," Shukla says. Will Pakistan now take up the "cause of UP Muslims"
