Admission of state sponsored terrorism by Pakistani authorities

see this Der Spigel Interview where Musharraf admits to that.

On 7th Nov in TimesNow Channel, Tasneem Noorani, a former Secretary of the Pakistani Interior Ministry, openly said that.

Kiyani called the Haqqanis as strategic assets.

In Dec. 2008, President Zardari himself admitted to ISI helping LeT. He said,"The links between the Inter-Services Intelligence Agency and the LeT were developed in the old days when dictators used to run the country. After the 9/11 terror attacks in the US, things have changed to a great extent"

In an address to bureaucrats in July 2009, President Zardari said: "Militants and extremists were deliberately created and nurtured as a policy to achieve some short-term tactical objectives. Let us be truthful to ourselves and make a candid admission of the realities. The terrorists of today were the heroes of yesteryears until 9/11 occurred and they began to haunt us as well"

In Nov. 2009, Prime Minister Gilani admitted to the support for terrorism by Musharraf as "running with the hares and hunting with the hounds".

When Bush warned the Pakistanis in August 2008 of their support to Al Qaeda, Afrasiab Khattak, President of Awami National Party (ANP) said this: "The question is why it has taken the Americans so long to see what the ISI is doing. We’ve been telling them for years but they wouldn’t buy it.". See here.

In an interview to the BBC as far back as on Feb. 13, 1994, Benazir Bhutto admitted how she handed over to Rajiv Gandhi the complete list of Sikh activists colluding with the ISI in terrorism in the Punjab. Later, Nawaz Sharif described this interview as a faux pas.

Apart from these, of course, numerous Pakistani commentators, analysts, and editors have openly admitted to terror as a state policy.

Why Did Pakistan's Spy Chief Make a Secret Trip to China?
Pasha's China trip has been interpreted by some as a tacit act of defiance—a reminder to his American counterparts that the Pakistanis can always look east to their “all-weather” friend across the Himalayas rather than bend the knee to the will of the U.S.

But it also may be a sign of China's growing disquiet with Pakistan. Another top-ranking Pakistani military officer, Lt. Gen Wahid Arshad, had already conducted a considerable tour of China just weeks ago in a bid to improve ties. A few analysts have suggested that Pasha's trip — couched in vague terms about building a “broad-based strategic dialogue” — may have been less a visit and more of a summons.
Chinese officials claimed the attacks in Kashgar were authored by the shadowy East Turkestan Islamic Movement, a jihadist organization of mostly ethnic Uighurs, a Turkic Muslim minority that comprises the majority in the far-western Chinese region of Xinjiang. China routinely invokes the specter of the terrorist threat when cracking down on dissent in the restive region. Yet disturbances there tend to be triggered more often by social discontent — many Uighurs chafe at state policies they deem discriminatory and marginalizing — than militant connivance. Pasha's presence in Beijing may mark Beijing's continued efforts to root out Uighur dissidents and sympathizers beyond China's borders, as it has already done in Kazakhstan.

Two Sufi Mohammadden sect clerics who had travelled from India to the Mohammadden Terrorist fomenting Islamic Republic disappear. Suspicion is that the two Sufi Mohammadden Clerics have been picked up by the Intelligence Arm of the Uniformed Jihadi’s of the Islamic Republic of pakistan’s Army, the Inter Services Intelligence Directorate aka ISID aka ISI.

Is it halal for an Islamic Republic like Pakistan to detain Mohammadden Clerics from Non-Mohammadden countries?

Organisation of Islamic Co-operation must demand own member Pakistan stop molesting Ulema.:
India has asked the Pakistan government to return two senior Indian clerics who have been missing from Lahore since Wednesday. Asif Nizami and his brother Nazim Nizami, senior clerics from Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya dargah in New Delhi were travelling in Pakistan on a religious tour, but are believed to have gone missing from Lahore.

The Indian high commissioner in Islamabad has lodged a strong complaint with the foreign ministry in Islamabad on Thursday evening. But sources here suspect the ISI, Pakistan's all-pervasive deep state, may have "picked them up" for reasons that are still unclear. The abduction of the Sufi clerics will be taken very seriously by India, sources said.

And so the Green on Green Intra-Mohammadden bloodletting on the Mohammadden Sabbath of Friday continues unabated in the Mohammadden Terrorist fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Clearly the Mohammadden Sabbath of Friday is not able to convince some Mohammaddens that theirs is the belief of “Peace” despite repeated and loud claims of that being the case by leaders of the Islamic Republic.

Meanwhile the death-toll in the demonstration of the IED Mubarak variant of the IEDology of Pakistan in the Sabqadar area of Charsadda on the Mohammadden Sabbath of Friday, climbs to 2:

More details. The two Sufi Mohammadden Clerics were booked to fly back to India on Thursday, but have not shown up. Last contact with family in India was on Wednesday.

The Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s Honour and Dignity aka H&D is assaulted by “Brotherly” fellow Ummah country of Malaysia. Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) witholds invitation to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) to participate in the Azlan Shah Cup Tournament. PHF in turn has asked the Pakistan High Commission in Malaysia to beg the Malaysian Sports Minister to press the MHC to give the PHF an invitation and inexplicable, given that this is a Malaysian Tournament, has also approached the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) to also beg for an invitation on the PHF’s behalf.

All this desperate begging by the Pakistan Hockey Federation must no doubt be because the slight of exclusion by Malaysia has been significantly amplified in Pakistani eyes by India being invited to partcipate in this edition of the Azlan Shah Cup. Invitation to “Kaafir” India while excluding “Momin” Islamic Republic of Pakistan by fellow “Ummah” member Malaysia seems to be irking the Islamic Republic of Pakistan no end  . Adding to the foregoing is Pakistan's suspicion that India via Narinder Batra, FIH President may have something to do with "the cold shoulder given these days by the world hockey community to Pakistan." :rotfl: :

X Posted from the “Pakistani Role In Global Terrorism” thread.

Four Mohammadden Terrorists on trial in the UK of which at least 2 have links to the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

“Naweed Ali, 29, and Khobaib Hussain, 25, both of Sparkhill in Birmingham” had been earlier arrested as part of Operation Pitsford in 2013 (See BBC : Operation Pitsford: The 11 men) and had been sentenced to 40 months imprisonment for attending Mohammadden Terrorism training camp in mother ship of terrorism, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Given that the BBC Operation Pitsford article says “The families immediately organised their return to the UK, with the help of relatives in Pakistan.” there is sound reason to believe that Naweed Ali and Khobaib Hussain trace their origin / descent as well back to Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The British Justice system will be well advised to hand down a very stiff sentence this time around given the recidivist track record of Naweed Ali and Khobaib Hussain:

It is unlikely Modi will wager his new-found political strength by reaching out to Islamabad and risking rejection -- or worse -- ahead of India’s next national election in 2019. Some analysts suggest his poll win may even validate India’s harder line on Pakistan.

“The approach to Pakistan will continue to be tough, since the terrorism issue agitates the public sentiment deeply, and there has been little or no give from Pakistan,” said Nirupama Rao, a former Indian foreign secretary and ambassador to the U.S. and China. “There is really no public support for dialogue with Pakistan. The field lies fallow.”

Sunni Terrorist Fragments of Unstable Pakistan - March 17, 2017

Post by Peregrine »

The Abbottabad report

The fallout from Husain Haqqani’s column in the Washington Post about his supposed role in facilitating the arrival of American spies to Pakistan continues with both the PML-N and the PTI agreeing to form a parliamentary commission to investigate the matter. Even the PPP, which has been embarrassed by Haqqani’s revelations and thus been furious in denouncing him and distancing itself from him, agreed to the commission. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who proposed the idea of the commission, said he wanted to give it the power to seek the report of the Abbottabad inquiry commission that was formed after the Bin Laden incident. This raises the question of why we need another commission when the whole matter was thoroughly investigated by the Abbottabad Commission in 2013. That would include any role played by Haqqani – who was questioned by the commission – in the matter. Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and retired Justice Javed Iqbal, who was the chairman of the Abbottabad Commission, have both said that the commission’s report would expose Husain Haqqani. The answer, then, is not to set up yet another commission but to finally make public the report of the Abbottabad Commission. We have a long history of suppressing reports that might reflect badly on the state. Every commission report has been stuffed in some dusty drawer, never to see the light of day. The government and opposition both seem to stress on the need for a commission and if asked about the Abbottabad Commission report being made public, they agree it should. Then why don’t they just do that?

The only way forward is to make the report public. It is important the whole story no longer be secret. All aspects of the report should be released as indeed the authors of the 300-page document had advised. That would not only save us the trouble of forming yet another commission to investigate Husain Haqqani, we would also find out how Osama bin Laden got to Pakistan, whether anyone in the state was helping and if someone was colluding with the US in its raid. The first draft of the Abbottabad report was leaked to Al-Jazeera in July 2013. The commission itself was formed a year earlier, and was extremely critical of everyone involved. The final report is believed to be more measured and we as a nation deserve to know what it says. Right now all we have is allegations, not just about Haqqani but about everyone who was in government then. Any investigation should not be focused only on one individual; rather we need a comprehensive picture of what happened. Releasing the Abbottabad report is the only way of doing that. As in past reports of equal or greater significance, the failure to make them public has simply created more problems than have been solved. From this point of agreement in parliament, we hope strides can be made towards making the report a part of our public record.

Siachen issue part of a larger problem with Pakistan: India - PTI
India has made it clear to Pakistan that the solution to Siachen issue is part of the larger issue which includes Pakistan's support to terrorism in the country, the government said on Friday.

In a written response to a question in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre said, 13 rounds of talks to resolve the Siachen issue have already taken place between the two countries, led by their respective defence secretaries.

"Indian government has made it clear to Pakistan that the solution to Siachen Glacier is a part of the larger issue to include Pakistan's support to terrorism in India," he said.

Bhamre said the government is cognizant of the strategic importance of Siachen, also known as world's highest battlefield, and requisite forces have been deployed in the area keeping in the view the threat perception, ground situtaion and other operational aspects.

"Besides, various modern technological equipment are being utilised by army for surveillance in Siachen which includes Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and different types of radars," Bhamre said.

Don't know what to make of this. On one side we say PoK is part of India and that TSP should vacate it, then we tie Siachen to Terrorism emanating from TSP. does it mean to say tomorrow if TSP cuts off Terrorism tap, we are ready to give back Siachen or even mull giving Siachen? at this rate PoK retaking is non-starter.

^Agree. At a time when India needs to be even more aggressive on PoK given CPEC - this new GOI formulation seems questionable.

The above perhaps needs to be understood in context of the latest talks by Defense Secretaries on Siachen.
The issue raised is not of territorial boundaries and adjustments of those.

The ceasefire at Siachen has held unbroken for 13 years. Pakistan says - so let's demilitarize; and India says - first deterrorize.

While the Pakistan side sought to push for demilitarising the glacier, described as the highest battleground in the world, India had conveyed that Islamabad needed to dismantle the terror camps operating on its soil.

Indian Sufi clerics may have been 'detained' by agencies linked with Pakistan Army
New Delhi | Mar 18, 2017, 03.02 AM (IST)
The two missing Indian clerics from Delhi's famous Sufi shrine, Nizamuddin Dargah, have been "detained" by agencies linked with the Pakistan Army, according to Punjab police sources in Lahore. However, officially Punjab police officials are denying such reports. On the other hand, Sindh police chief in a statement released to media said that the Pakistani police's Special Branch department, which looks after the movement of foreign nationals in the country, and especially that of Indians has no records of any of these individuals landing in Karachi. Syed Asif Ali Nizami, 80, the head cleric of the Delhi's Nizamuddin Dargah, along with his nephew, Nazim Ali Nizami, 60, went missing in Pakistan yesterday while on a pilgrimage to the famous Daata Darbar Sufi shrine in Lahore.
The two clerics were set to fly to Karachi yesterday but they suddenly disappeared and their phones were switched off, the family's last contact with Syed Asif Ali Nizami was at Karachi airport.
India's foreign ministry has been in touch with its Pakistan counterpart but no information has been forthcoming so far about the two clerics.Indian foreign minister Sushma Swaraj in a tweet this morning said that she had "requested the Pakistani government for an update on both the Indian nationals". The Dargah committee of Hazrat Nizamuddin conducted a meeting after the head cleric and his nephew went missing in Pakistan yesterday.
Earlier, Pakistan informed India that they were pursuing the matter related to the two missing Sufi clerics "seriously", media reports said.Local press has remained largely silent on the issue, with limiting itself to running statements of the Pakistani foreign office who have stated that they had received a request to ascertain the missing persons whereabouts from its Indian counterpart and had forwarded the same request to the interior ministry, which deals with law enforcement in the country. It is pertinent to mention here that many local journalists that WION spoke to also hinted towards the involvement of agencies but did not want to go on record with such information.
Also, the management personnel of Data Darbar shrine in Lahore, where the two clerics were reportedly last seen visiting, were not forthcoming in sharing any information, while adding that that they usually do not have any direct contacts with the management or clerics of Hazrat Nizamuddin dargah in Delhi, India.
In past, the Pakistani military has been accused and found involved of illegally detaining people it deems suspicious, as was the recent case of the missing social media Pakistani activists in January this year which received international attention. Some of these activists have now been released. Since then, they all have reportedly fled Pakistan. One of them, Waqas Goraya recently went on record with an international news organization to claim that he was abducted by an institution linked with the Pakistan Army.

Saudi Arabia Deports 39000 Pakistanis In 4 Months !
NEW DELHI: Saudi Arabia has deported almost 40,000 Pakistanis in the last four months on grounds of security, reflecting hardening stance towards its traditional ally.A leading Saudi paper, Saudi Gazette, reported last week that over 39,000 Pakistanis have been deported from Saudi Arabia during the period.
This is the first time that Riyadh has taken such a step in dealing with a section of Pakistani nationals it claims could be involved in acts of terror. The Gulf nation’s strong action comes in the backdrop of its improving strategic tie with India and the onset of Donald Trump’s presidency in the US. Earlier this month, Kuwait banned would-be immigrants from five Muslim majority nations including Pakistan from applying for visa
Saudi Arabia, after the UAE, is emerging a key counter-terror partner for India in the Gulf, with the richest state in that region feeling heat of radical and terror groups. The Saudi King is also expected to visit Delhi this year as the oil-rich kingdom also eyes major economic opportunities in both hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon sectors. The deportations of Pakistani nationals were attributed to visa violations, crime and security concerns linking the deportees to terror organisa ..
Other Pakistanis were deported over crimes including drug trafficking, theft, forgery and physical assault. In comparison, Indians are the preferred workforce across the six Gulf states, persons familiar with the expatriate issue told ET.News of the deportations follows intermittent reports of migrant worker protests over unpaid salaries, after the increasing strain on Saudi public finances due to the downturn in oil prices in recent years. But the deportation of Pakis ..
“Pakistan itself is plagued with terrorism due to its close proximity with Afghanistan. The Taliban extremist movement was itself born in Pakistan,” he said. This is probably the first time that Riyadh has recognised that Taliban receives active support from Islamabad. Ironically, Saudi Arabia was among the three countries that recognised the Taliban government in Kabul between 1996 and 2001.Al-Sadoun stressed that the religious and political beliefs of Pakistani nationals must be ..
Quoting the Saudi interior ministry, the Gazette said 82 Pakistanis are currently in intelligence prisons for suspected terror and security-related issues. As many as 15 Pakistanis, including a woman, were nabbed following the recent terrorist operations in Al-Harazat and Al-Naseem districts in Jeddah.“Last year, the Saudi security forces had foiled a terror plot in which two Pakistanis were held for plotting to explode Al-Jawhara Stadium in Jeddah where more than 60,000 spectators ..
Last week, about 153 deported Pakistanis from Saudi Arabia reached Lahore on a special flight. The deportees included 148 men and five women.
Special Counters have been set up at Pakistan Airports to "welcome back" these deportees, and prepare them for "special treatment" that will be given to them

Position on Kashmir not affected by CPEC: China
https://www.dawn.com/news/1321184/posit ... cpec-china
KARACHI: The Chinese foreign ministry has called for the settlement of the Kashmir issue through dialogue between Pakistan and India.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said this while addressing a regular press conference in Beijing on Friday.Answering a question regarding India’s objection to Pakistan’s plan to declare Gilgit-Baltistan, part of Kashmir, its fifth province and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor going through these areas, Ms Hua said China’s position on the Kashmir issue was consistent and clear-cut.“As a leftover issue from history between India and Pakistan, it needs to be properly settled through dialogue and consultation between the two sides,” she said, adding that development of CPEC did not affect China’s position on the Kashmir issue.

Sehwan Bombing: Link with Jaish-e-Muhammad emerges - DT
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Friday claimed to have traced the main members of the group that claimed the Sehwan suicide bombing.

The terrorists involved in the Sehwan attack had been turning children into suicide attackers, and their nexus with banned Jaish-e-Mohammad had surfaced through an NGO Al Rehmat Trust, as per the revelations made by an attested commander of banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi during interrogation, a CTD official told a press conference on Friday.

CTD SSP (Operations) Munir Ahmed Shaikh told the media at the CTD Garden that four alleged members of the Abdul Hafeez Pandrani Brohi group and banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi had been arrested from Kemari and Sohrab Goth areas of the city. He said that the accused were involved in the massacre at Sehwan.

"The arrested suspects - Abdul Aziz Shaikh, Aslam Gul, Asadullah and Ubaidullah - were involved in many cases of terrorism. They have been active since 2001. After the Sehwan blast, they came to Karachi and had been planning their next attacks," Munir Shaikh stated.

"Abdul Aziz Sheikh is the main suspect and a key member of the LeJ who has been providing funds and new recruits. During interrogating, it has been surfaced that the suspect had close ties with Abdul Hafeez Pandrani and banned Jaish-e-Mohammad. As an amir of LeJ in Shikarpur, he funded Jaish-e-Mohammad through Al Rehmat Trust," the SSP further said.

He told the media that the arrested youngster, Aslam Gul, was a would-be suicide bomber who disclosed that he was being trained by Abdul Hafeez and Abdul Aziz.

Pakistani NGO Takes US Donors For A Ride

Remember Pakistan’s ‘Harriet Tubman’ who got $2.3 million from Humans of New York? This is what she has done with it
Corruption or mismanagement? 2 years on, Humans of New York’s massive $2.3 million donation fails to make an impact on Pakistan’s slave labor situation. In August 2015, popular internet photojournalist Brandon Stanton highlighted the story of Syeda Ghulam Fatima, General Secretary of Lahore-based Bonded Labour Liberation Front Pakistan (BLLF), in a seven-part series about Pakistan on his Facebook page, Humans of New York (HONY).
Humans of New York talked about Fatima’s efforts to eradicate bonded labor in Pakistan, and appealed to the international community for donations to her organization and her cause. As a result of the attention received through the Facebook page, over $2,300,000 USD was raised within a few days for the Bonded Labor Liberation Front. A Tale of Caution for those individuals who feel guilty and want to donate to help the needy. This example probably personifies the example of the international community who have been "funding" Pakistan for the last 70 years with no results to show !.
Fatima was hailed as “a modern-day Harriet Tubman” – after the abolitionist who successfully helped more than seventy slaves to freedom after the American Civil War – and received the Clinton Global Citizen Award. As her work gained more attention and acknowledgement worldwide, the donations came pouring in.Unfortunately, the donations – supposed to be used for liberating bonded slaves and the eradication of bonded labor – seem to have been swept under the rug, and no one seems to know how they are being used, or, indeed if they are being used. Pakis are masters of this game !
The official website and Facebook page of the organisation have not been updated, and there is no information on how the funds have been used, and how many developmental projects have been completed, if any. It seems as if the donations are not being used. The NGO claims that it raised USD 2.3 million (PKR 246,114,003) through HONY for a project called ‘Freedom Center’, which was meant to offer a safe haven for rescued workers. The NGO maintains that one of the first centers is being built on Raiwind Road, Lahore but, like many government projects plagued by corruption, this one seems to exist only in photographs and on paper. At the national level, ghost schools on paper are shown to the prospective donors , and US Govt auditors are unable to "certify phantom bills" submitted for reimbursement to US military
Daily Pakistan contacted Syeda Ghulam Fatima for comment. We sent her a formal email at her request to inquire about the ongoing projects and progress reports of the work that the organisation has done so far, apart from seminars and promotional banners.Initially, she denied that she received any email from us but we realized that she had indeed received the email when she began to repeat our own questions on the call, as she criticized us for our ‘inquisitiveness’. She added that she was not at ‘liberty’ to disclose the exact whereabouts of the building but stated that she could share some ‘pictorial information’ through email. At the national level, Zia, the dictator, straight faced denied that Pakistan was building an atom bomb, even while other reports stated that he was one screw driver away from completing his project .
The NGO claimed that they planned to construct a Freedom Centre on Raiwind Road, Lahore, using the funds raised through HONY. According to the blueprint (depicted above), the center was supposed to occupy an area of 25500 Sq ft, and would include facilities such as a healthcare unit, community hall, school and residential areas for rescued bonded laborers. The Pakistan Budget and other proposals submitted to potential donors use similar "buzz words" to pull the wool over the eye
To verify that the NGO was in the process of building such a grand facility two years after receiving this hefty donation or has already built it (the statements kept contradicting the previous ones), we asked the NGO if we could visit the facility for ourselves in order to verify their claims. At this point, they stopped responding to our queries, their only responses being excuses. They initially said that they wanted to keep the whereabouts of the facility secret in order not to compromise the identity of the rescued laborers. We did not receive a positive response even when we provided assurances that we would not disclose the location of the Freedom Centre. The Pakistan Govt also follows similar policies citing national security as one way to dissuade foreign observers to inspect nuclear facilities, etc
After persisting for two months, we decided to give them an ultimatum. We told them they had a choice: they could either show us the facility, or we would publish our story in its current state. Finally, the NGO relented. They finally agreed to take us to the location, which turned out to be 50 kilometres outside of Lahore. We were finally introduced to the 25500 square foot “grand” Freedom Center made with USD 2.3 million that took 2 years to construct: On the national level, there are countless such examples where the money for the project has just disappeared !
For comparison purposes, with $2.3 million (PKR 24 crore) in Lahore, one can easily buy a fully-furnished, 10,000 sq ft house in Lahore’s most expensive DHA area, with enough left over for maintenance and sustainability of the facility for at least five years.Fatima, who had earlier emphasized that the ‘safe house’ and ‘freedom center’ were two completely different projects and that she “owned” both, now stated that this was the only project being built by HONY money and that she was facing serious obstacles in building it. She didn’t offer any clarification about why she claimed to own a freedom center occupied by recovered bonded laborers.
It is pertinent to add here that two months ago, we had visited BLLF’s office in Lahore where we were introduced to “recovered laborers”. The NGO had told us that these laborers had come from the Freedom Center that had been constructed using HONY donations, and that they had arrived especially to share their ordeal with us. The reason for letting us to meet those bonded laborers at the office was to keep us away from visiting the ‘freedom center’.
It is shameful that, despite the best of intentions, a great campaign and a huge fundraiser, HONY has been unable to put a dent in the slavery situation in Pakistan. If mismanagement and corruption continue unabated, even $2.3 billion will not be enough to alleviate Pakistan’s slavery situation.
The same could be true at the national level; in spite of the international community "nursing Pakistan" for the last 70 years, it can been unable to make a dent to "mend its ways" !

The present state of the “Freedom Centre” puts a huge question mark over those meetings, as the facility the NGO claimed those laborers came from, does not seem to exist.

Pakistan On Diplomatic Defensive At Commonwealth Meet .

Support to terror must be basis for disqualification from Commonwealth: India
LONDON: India on Friday pushed for including "sustained support for terrorism and radical extremism" as one of the grounds for disqualification of a member state from the Commonwealth. There are currently eight grounds on which the Commonwealth can take action against a member country, including violation of democratic values and good governance. At the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) meet in London, India stressed that this must be expanded to nine, to include "sustained support for terrorism and radical extremism", an official source said.
India was also successful in keeping action against Bangladesh off the agenda against Pakistan's concerted efforts at the CMAG meeting, where India is being represented by Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar. :D
"In a way, this was a big victory. There was an attempt to bring Bangladesh on to the agenda (for alleged human rights violations) by our friends on the west (Pakistan), but we managed to keep it from being raised," the source said.
India will also play a key role with the Maldives, which had left the Commonwealth last year after CMAG had put it on notice for undermining democratic institutions. It was agreed at today's meeting that regional countries should continue to engage with the island nation to try and bring it back into the fold of the Commonwealth.Pakistan ruled itself out from playing a role until the Maldives government improves its conduct.
However, the Indian side was in agreement with other member countries to play the role of interlocutor and continue the process of dialogue in the region

Jamaat ul Ahrar strikes again
Islamabad: Pakistan's security forces have lost three officials, killing eight militants in consecutive attacks within twenty-four hours on Friday. Pakistan Army's media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed the loss of at least one soldier in an attack on a Frontier Constabulary's training facility in Minchinai area of Shabqadar. In another attack on the Pakistan military border post in Khyber Agency, two Pakistani soldiers lost their lives while the six attackers were killed
JuA splintered from its parent TTP when Pakistan opened talks with the latter. Another TTP faction Ahrar-ul-Hind joined hands with JuA. After the launch of Zarb-e-Azb, these groups formed a five-membered joint council to launch coordinated attacks in Pakistan. This council was dissolved, when Mullah Fazlullah, the head TTP central, refused to claim the attack on Bacha Khan University.Over time, the TTP further fragmented and its capacity dwindled during 2015. But since August 2016, TTP factions have been regrouping. Pakistan's security officials blame Afghanistan's National Directorate of Security (NDS) behind this re-organization, which Afghanistan denies.

Twitter exchange between journalist from the Mohammadden Terrorism fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mehr Tarar, previously in the news for a twitter spat between Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor and Tarar over Tarar’s alleged involvement with Congress Party politician Shashi Tharoor; and our Exteral Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj over matter of two Sufi Mohammadden Clerics from India going “missing” while on a visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan:

Mehr Tarar:
I met one of these gentlemen at the Nizamuddin dargah in Delhi last year. Pakistanis in general hold all Sufi descendants in high esteem.
Our External Affais Minister Sushma Swaraj:
I hope Government of Pakistan shares your feelings and helps in locating them.
Mehr Tarar:
Thank you, Ma'am Minister; I'm certain they will be home soon. They are our very respected guests, & their safe return is our responsibility
From the Times of India, here:

What Sushma Swaraj told Pakistani columnist Mehr Tarar about 2 missing Nizamuddin clerics

Meanwhile Pakistanis endorse the comment "Pakistanis in general hold all Sufi descendants in high esteem" by regularly bombing Sufi Shrines in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

ISI picked up 2 Indian clerics who were visiting Pakistan. What happened to the spirit of "people to people contacts"? Where is the outrage from Paki "liberals"? Imagine the furore if an Indian agency in "Modi's India" had picked up visiting clerics from Pakistan and taken to an unknown location for a few days. Mahesh Bhatts of India would have pitched tents at Wagah burning candles and there would be endless criticism of Modi on TV shows.

Sunni Terrorist Fragments of Unstable Pakistan - March 17, 2017

Post by Peregrine »

The economy - Capital suggestion

Pakistan’s internal economy is rupee denominated and our external economy is dollar denominated. Pakistan’s external economy comprises the entire stream of dollar inflows and dollar outflows. Here’s the record on imports or dollar outflows: Our imports have gone up from $35 billion a year five years ago to nearly $45 billion a year. That’s an increase of 28 percent in five years.

Red alert: Our exports – or dollar inflows – have gone down from $25 billion a year five years ago to $20 billion a year. That’s a decrease of 20 percent in five years. And on top of all that, dollars coming back to Pakistan from Pakistanis working abroad are also trending downwards. No wonder our current account deficit – which is the sum of all dollar inflows and outflows – deteriorated by over 90 percent during the first seven months of the current fiscal year (compared to the same period last year).

Red alert: Our foreign exchange reserves – built up largely by high interest rate loans – are falling; and falling fast. Over the past few months, reserves have fallen from around $19 billion to a current level of under $17 billion. If the trend continues – especially when international oil prices have doubled over the past year – we would be forced to go back to the IMF by early-2018.

Yes, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is now being presented as the panacea – a solution to all our difficulties including falling exports and declining foreign exchange reserves. Red alert: Assuming that some $35 billion of Chinese loans is utilised for energy projects, Pakistan’s annual financing burden will go up to $5.3 billion a year plus an insurance premium of $2 billion upfront.

Pakistan’s external, dollar-denominated economy is moving from bad to worse. Yes, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has now moved in to bring some stability to the worsening external, dollar-denominated economy by imposing a 100 percent cash margin for imports of 404 non-essential, non-oil import items. What that means is that the Government of Pakistan has no policy remedy and the SBP has therefore jumped in with an administrative measure. History has it that administrative measures work – if they do – only over the short term.

Rewind back to early-2013 when foreign exchange reserves had started falling like nine pins-and within a few months we had to rush to the IMF for a 36-month, $6.4 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF). Red alert: We are back to where we were in early-2013 with one big difference – our external debt servicing load is now twice as heavy. Imagine: over the next 14 months Pakistan must pay back $6.5 billion in principal plus interest.

To be certain, our march back to yet another IMF rescue package has begun. The external sector of our economy is weakening by the day. Yes, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet has shown “concern over the widening of the current account deficit” but the government lacks either the capacity or the will-or both-to turn the tide via a policy response. Yes, the SBP held a meeting with the heads of all major banks in the country to “improve their capacity to control money laundering” in the amount of $10 billion a year but that’s the farthest that the SBP is willing to go.

Legendary Pakistan leg-spinner Abdul Qadir has stunned cricket fans by indicating that former players Wasim Akram, Inzamam-ul Haq and Mushtaq Ahmed among others were all involved in match-fixing and had they been 'hanged the menace of spot-fixing would not have existed in the country.

Pakistan has taken the MIGHTY US itself (along with all its Western & Eastern friends) for a ride for the last sixty years; forget about mere, mortal US donors!

The interesting thing is how it will play out between Pakistan & China !!
In this case, it is China which is taking Pakistan for a ride. Pakis are hoodwinked into thinking that they have found a new sugar daddy.. but will soon find that this "cheeni" sugar daddy has made a slave out of them.
schinnas, definitely, the Chinese are not like the US. That being said, like the implications of the French Revolution being still too early to assess, we have to wait for sometime to come to that judgement. I would say the jury is still way out.
