Dargah Clerics To Reach Delhi On Monday- Sushma ; Clerics Were Detained Because Of Their Alleged Ties To MQM
NEW DELHI: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj spoke to one of the two clerics of Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah, who were later traced after going missing+ in Pakistan."I just spoke to Syed Nazim Ali Nizami in Karachi. He told me that they are safe and will be back in Delhi tomorrow," she said in a tweet.
Pakistan had on Saturday conveyed to India that the two missing clerics had been "traced" and that they had reached Karachi. Syed Asif Nizami, the head priest (Sajjadanashin) of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah, and his nephew Nazim Nizami -- had gone to Pakistan on March 8 and were to return to India on March 20.
The main purpose of the visit of 80-year-old Asif to Pakistan was to see his sister in Karachi.Yesterday, Swaraj had spoken to Pakistan Prime Minister's Adviser on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, regarding the case.
According to Pakistani media reports, both clerics had been in "interior Sindh ("Deep State" safe house !) where there was no communication network" and thus could not tell their relatives about their whereabouts.Earlier, Pakistani sources had said the two clerics were in the custody of Pakistan's intelligence agency+ over their alleged links with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).The clerics were offloaded from Karachi-bound Shaheen Airlines on March 14 at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, the sources claimed.
Senile Sartaj convinced the real powers( ie "Deep State") that he has "too much on his plate, right now " what with Pakistan's growing diplomatic isolation, the Trump Sarkar making "noises" about terrorism , making sure that US moolah does not stop, etc etc therefore, he does not want another international incident, tainting Pakistan's "good" name , therefore orders given for immediate release !

Online Religious Mischief Will Not Be Tolerated In The Islamic Republic Of Pakistan.

The war against online
Cyril Almeida- ( Paki Journo who fled for his life and now "preaching" from Massaland !)
JUDGES run amok, politicians moralising, the state crusading. It’s like they all had an epiphany — at the same time, on the same issue. What’s happening? With so many different strands, some random, several opportunistic, and the mixing of the old with the new, a coherent tale is hard to find.
But zoom out a bit and it’s there all right.Religion under threat is as old as, well, religion. More interesting are the attacks on the alleged transmitter of the latest alleged mischief: the world of online.
There is no evidence, none that has been publicly offered or credibly advanced in private, that there has been a surge in counter-religious narratives online. Attacks against Pakistan and Islam- in the name of free speech- will not be tolerated !!!
The need for control quickly became apparent. As is now well known, the fear of being infected by an Indian perspective and the realisation of the nationalist potential of private media triggered a revolution. That private-media revolution was messy at first, but control was eventually mastered. The same impetus to control is again evident, but it sits at the confluence of different factors. The most basic difference being how the internet works. It will take time, but the Paki internet will be "tamed" with the help of the Chini blothers and their technology !
The surveillance state has grown. It is only whispered about and part of it is the usual faddishness and corruption-related possibilities that expensive technologies attract. Its roots may even lie in the fight against militancy and the intelligence cooperation that Pakistan has engaged in with Western countries.Whatever the reasons, the infrastructure of surveillance is rumoured to have grown significantly, on both the civ and mil sides of the state.
But then politicians got on the internet bandwagon and turned social media into a battleground. Online went from something some people were doing to something everyone was talking about. And that’s never a good place for freedom to find itself here.Thrilled, scared, flummoxed, aghast — if the mainstream political stuff can leave both participant and observer reeling, you can guess the impact that the farther reaches of the internet could have on the puritanical voyeur. The political mainstreaming of social media and the like has helped make it a target for a certain, cleansing sort. And then there’s the possibility that few will admit. There may still be no real NAP implementation and no narrative against extremism, but there has been a shift. From Zarb-i-Azb to the justification for military courts to the hanging of Mumtaz Qadri and an incipient willingness among the powerful to push back against blasphemy allegations, the slightest of shifts can be discerned.
The misuse of religion for political and terroristic ends can now, in the softest, most incipient of ways, be called out.
That change — necessary to some and embraced by the many — will have been interpreted differently by the opposite camp.Flip it around. You happen to be someone from the previous consensus — that militants are misguided, but ultimately men of faith who can be shown the right path with patience and through dialogue. From that reverse perspective, suddenly, it is religion itself that is under attack in the guise of a war against terrorism. From that perspective, there is a need to reassert the perceived foundations of the state. From that perspective, there is a need to find easy targets. There’s few easier than the world of online. When the "Chinese system" of state control of media and internet is fully implemented in Pakistan ( when internet and satellite is linked with the Chinese orbit ) the writer may find himself out of a job and his Paper may not be able to publish without risking its operations !!!

In the wake of the successful PSL final , there is good news ...

Back from exile, Pakistan’s cricket push lures advertisers

Pakistanis should ponder on this Aristotle remark : One swallow does not a summer make :)
The success of the match was a rare bit of good news for Pakistan’s cricket industry, which has lost millions of dollars in revenue since militants attacked a bus carrying the Sri Lankan cricket team to the same stadium in Lahore eight years ago. The straw that broke the camel's neck
The PSL has a market value of up to $300 million, said Arif Habib, a business tycoon and PSL director. ( Lahori logic and Sialkoti statistics - pulled out of a hat  ) That could increase as much as five-fold if more matches were played at home, he said. That compares with London-based Brand Finance’s $3.5 billion valuation of the Indian Premier League. It would also be a positive signal to investors looking at the country’s security climate. The relentless quest for an equal equal
“Major security concerns mean that international fixtures remain a long way off,” said Finn Dowley, an analyst at Brand Finance. However, “the economic potential attached to international and franchise cricket within the country is huge.” Blowing hot and cold at the same time

Pakistani Female "Migrates" To ISIS

Female MBBS student with ‘extremist views’ goes missing
HYDERABAD: A female student studying MBBS in a Hyderabad medical university has gone missing under mysterious circumstances, police said.
According to SSP Hyderabad Irfan Al Baloch, police have launched an investigation into the sudden disappearance of girl named Noreen.Mr Baloch said the girl boarded a Lahore-bound bus last month before losing contacts with her family and friends.
“Initial investigations show that the girl had extremist views and her inclination was clearly towards extremist organizations,” the SSP told SAMAA.The SSP revealed that many of her Facebook accounts had been suspended due to her extremist views. In a latest text message to her family, the MBBS student said she was safe and sound in the land of caliphate.
"Brother I am Noreen. I hope you will be fine. By the Grace of God, I am alright and happy. I have sent this message to tell you that I have migrated to the land of caliphate. I pray to Gold that you will also migrate to the land one day," she wrote. The girl has urged her family to stop worrying about her. – SAMAA Just wondering if she has been assigned "kitchen or bedroom duties" for ISIS warriors before being "broken" and ultimately auctioned of at the local ISIS "slave market"

We need Punjabi in schools, not Arabic

The latest addition to the long list of absurdities espoused by our ruling classes came from MNA Naeema Kishwar Khan a couple weeks back. She proposed and defended a bill that would make it compulsory to teach Arabic in all government schools from grade 1. The logic behind this bill is confounding and enigmatic: the members of parliament believe that teaching Arabic to children from an early age will help them interpret the Holy Quran properly and bring terrorism down. Another Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf member of parliament argued that learning Arabic would help students acquire jobs (presumably in the Middle East).

Let me ask the learned members a few questions: What is the ‘true’ and ‘correct’ interpretation of the Holy Quran? Which Arabic scholar (let alone a lay person) understands the true Islam? Do Ayman Al-Zawahiry, Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi and their numerous followers not know Arabic? Most forces engaged in conflicts in Iraq and Syria are Arabic-speakers – from the Alawite, to all shades of Shia, Sunni, and Wahabi groups. Why does knowing Arabic not stop them from turning into terrorists? Arabic is taught in nearly all the madrassas of Pakistan to children from a very tender age; does that reduce the number of extremists emerging out of these institutions?

But why not? Let’s teach the children Arabic so they will get petro-jobs in the Middle East, let’s teach them Mandarin because China is our best friend, English because it is the international language of commerce, Persian because it was the language of the Mughals, and Spanish because we ruled Spain for a millennium. Let’s teach our kids every single language that they may or may not need, except their own mother tongues – Punjabi, Hindko, Brahui, Pashto, Dhatki, Sindhi, or Sheena. Let’s not teach them the one language, their mother tongue that may actually help reduce tendencies toward terrorism. Let’s not teach them about the pluralism of Bulleh Shah, the universal love of Farid Ganj-e-Shakar, or the folk wisdom or Khawaja Ghulam Farid.

Let’s teach them about Tariq Bin Zyad and Muhammad Bin Qasim, but not about our indigenous heroes like Dulla Bhatti or Rai Ahmed Khan Kharal. Let’s teach the kids to glorify aggressors and plunderers like Ghauri and Ghaznavi, and vilify Ranjit Singh and Bhagat Singh. Let’s teach them to idealize everything foreign, and hate everything local. Let’s send them the message that the languages and cultures of their parents do not deserve to be taught in schools, and that they need to learn Urdu, English, Arabic and Chinese to earn dignity in society. Even the Urdu we teach at schools is Persian-ized to a ridiculous extent. Tell me, how is ‘Afzoon-gar’ a better word to teach than ‘Amplifier’ in government schools in Punjab?

It is ironic how much we care about imposing new languages in schools, while we neglect school infrastructure, teacher recruitment and training, and curriculum modernization. Our crumbling education system forbids students to ask questions, to think differently, or to be creative. Instead of simplifying pedagogy to make students understand what they are being taught, we focus on rote learning and deliberately complicate instruction to limit knowledge. We do not allow our children to think for themselves, and wonder why they are turning into terrorists? The science and mathematics that we teach in our schools is out of date and the history we teach is false. Brutal physical punishment in public schools is reserved for students from low-income backgrounds, which ensures that they develop an aversion to knowledge attainment and limit their socio-economic advancement. But let’s forget about all this, and teach them a new language.

There is a plethora of scientific research that proves that students learn better when taught in their mother tongue. Students not only are able to absorb the material better, but also develop critical thinking skills. Their school learning is better supported at home when the parents know the language of instruction. Teaching in the mother tongue also promotes equality, accessibility, and inclusion of the marginalized communities. Neglecting all evidence, I wonder which scientific studies our parliamentarians relied on to pronounce that Arabic would help reduce terrorism?

Fighting terrorism requires an equitable distribution of resources, avenues of socio-economic advancement, and cultural sensitivity toward the marginalized. Counter-terrorism is a battle of ideologies and narratives, which can only be won if the state meets people where they are and explains its narratives in their language. I am not sure how Arabic can help in this regard. It is almost certain that the efforts to introduce Arabic in schools will fail as miserably as the absurd attempt of the Sindh government to introduce Mandarin as a medium of instruction floundered a couple of years back. Apart from losing valuable resources in the already resource-starved education system, this initiative will distract our attention from the core issues of education reforms to the outlandish whims of the parliamentarians.

the entire tournament generated revenue between $5 million - $10 million to be shared by all parties involved, neither do PCB nor do its sponsors have fiscal depth for any more funding than that. $300 million is 30 times market cap of last PSL.

Why the new enemy property law won’t apply to iconic Jinnah House - Swati Deshpande, ToI
The Centre's amendment to the Enemy Property Act, 1968, has no bearing on the landmark Jinnah House, a prime property at Mumbai's Malabar Hill.

The reason: The house that Mohammed Ali Jinnah, the founding father of Pakistan, built is an "evacuee property" and not an "enemy property'' under law.

In 2010, the Bombay high court had admitted a petition by Dina Wadia, Mohammed Ali Jinnah's daughter, to stake a claim to his palatial multi-million dollar bungalow as his "only daughter and sole heir".

The petition was filed three years earlier and is still pending final disposal before the high court. Dina then was almost 91 years old and residing in the US.

She moved the high court with her "controversial" demand. She challenged a 60-year-old notification of the Indian government that defined Jinnah House, spread over a 2.5-acre plot, as evacuee property and took its possession.

The government says Jinnah willed his house to his sister Fatima on May 30, 1939. But Dina and her lawyers have been denying the existence of any such valid will.

The dispute, though, turned into a three-way fight in 2008. The HC also admitted a petition filed by Jinnah's grand-nephew Mohammed Ebrahim and his son staking an independent claim to the House that Jinnah built.

Their counsel, Yusuf Muchala, said that under Muslim Law, they were the legal heirs of Fatima Jinnah and therefore entitled to the property.

Ministry of external affairs (MEA) said that the government acquired the bungalow built by Jinnah as evacuee property and as a result, all rights of the evacuee and others stood extinguished.

The MEA has said that once a property is acquired under Section 12 of the Displaced Persons (Compensation and Rehabilitations) Act of 1954, the evacuee's rights in the property are extinguished and the evacuee is, if anything, only entitled to compensation.

"The property vests absolutely with the Central government. There is no residuary right or right of reversion in favour of either the evacuee or the evacuee's heirs," it said in an affidavit in the high court in 2010. The House was sold, after acquisition, by the ministry of rehabilitation to the ministry of works and housing, for over Rs 8 lakh.

The proceeds form part of the compensation pool. The MEA said the heirs have no reversionary rights even on the proceeds. Under the Administration of Evacuee Property Act, 1950, an evacuee is a person who, on account of setting up of the Dominions of India and Pakistan or due to civil disturbances or fear of such disturbances, has left India by March 1, 1947.

"Missing Indian Clerics" - Pakistani "Whitewashed " Version !

‘Missing’ Indian clerics surface in Karachi
KARACHI: Two prominent Indian clerics, who had gone missing a few days ago, arrived in Karachi after visiting some remote parts of Sindh, it emerged on Saturday.According to sources, Syed Asif Ali Nizami, the custodian of Delhi’s Nizamuddin Auliya shrine, and his nephew Nazim Ali Nizami, had travelled to the interior of Sindh to visit some acquaintances. ( where they were "caught" by Deep State and detained at a "safe house " :D )
The sources explained that the clerics might have lost contact with their worried relatives because there was no mobile phone coverage in the area they had visited. “They have returned to Karachi,” said a source. However, the Indian clerics — or their relatives — could not be contacted for comment in Karachi.
Earlier in the day, Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted that she had spoken to Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz regarding the “missing” Indian nationals and he had promised her “all help in tracing” them.
On Friday, Sindh police chief A.D. Khowaja told reporters that the foreign security cell of the Special Branch had no record of the arrival of the Indian clerics. A top-ranking police official told Dawn on Saturday that police were clueless about the disappearance and return of the Indian clerics.
Conclusion: Sartaj promptly complied with Sushma's "request" to help her and used his "influence" to locate the clerics in the "interior", then brought them "safe and sound" to Karachi and "assisted" them to go back home from there . :D

BOL (TV) Bags Dus Percenti

Asif Zardari launches career as political analyst
Weeks after former president Pervez Musharraf launched his career on mainstream media, a private TV channel announced that former president Asif Ali Zardari will also be appearing on a weekly show as a political analyst.According to a promotional video shared by Bol Network on twitter, the former president's show is called Pakistan Khappay with President Asif Ali Zardari and will be aired every Sunday at 9:30pm.
In the first episode of the show, aired on March 19...
"If the government does not have a foreign minister, then, I believe, there is no concern for Pakistan's position on the the global stage and the numerous challenges the country is facing," Zardari said.
During the episode, the former president also spoke on Pak-US relations and said that "if someone takes the responsibility to hold dialogue with [America]," the relations can be improved. So this high school dropout and corrupt millionare has become a "political pundit" to stay in the public limelight :D
When questioned about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, Zardari said that Prime Minister Nawaz Shairf has not been able to understand the project, adding that "it is not a project of building roads". Relations between the two still sour  :

As usual Paki tricks to convert whole world. Don't forget about how they were after Dilshan.

THE EXPRESS TRIBUNE > SPORTS Javed Afridi hoping Darren Sammy converts to Islam

Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi has asked his team’s fans to pray that franchise captain Darren Sammy converts to Islam as the two-time World T20 winner is studying the religion.

In a video circulating on social media, Javed can be seen telling news channels that it is a big achievement for him to get Sammy to read about Islam.

“I pray that he accepts Islam as his religion,” said Javed in the video. “He has complete knowledge and the way he is reading about Islam, I think it’s a biggest achievement. For me, for my whole team, it is a big thing.”

It seems Iranian Kurds have always been using the word Pakistan in its correct sense.
Pakistan for Kurds, especially Irani Kurds, means toilet (ghusl khana), a place where they clean themselves and become 'Pak' :rotfl:
-------------

More on the varied interpretations of the sindhi phrase "Pakistan Khappey" of Zardari.
Used in Two diffrent contexts in Sindhi.
1. One meaning of Khappy in sindhi language is "NEED OF SOMETHING".
2. The second meaniing of Khappy in sindhi language is "TO SELL SOMETHING" :)
In Punjabi, it can be used as:

Pakistan Khappay (Pakistan should go mad, like a punjabi mother saying to her husband : main tey khup gai aan)

Pakistan Khappay (Pakistan should go chaotic, like a punjabi father entering his home says to his children: kya khup daali hui hai, or ki khup pai aey)
Original context
Upon sunroof levering of Benazir Bhutto there was extreme anger in Sind, and Sindi's were chanting 'Pakistan Na Khappay" (We don't need Pakistan) at BB's funeral. It was in response to that Zardari said three times "Pakistan Khappay, Pakistan Khappay, Pakistan Khappay" (We Want Pakistan, We Want Pakistan, We Want Pakistan).

Chemical used in IED at rail track identified - The Hindu
Hoda met Sheik once in Malaysia, multiple times in Dubai and on two occasions in Pakistan. Sheikh had promised him huge money. Hoda has told interrogators that he was not sure whether Sheikh was working for the ISI.

While Hoda admitted to know about the conspiracy to plant explosives at Ghorasan and another one at Nakardehi in Bihar (a low intensity explosion which did not inflict any damage), he has told an NIA team that he was unaware of any such plan to target railway tracks near Kanpur on November 20, 2016 where more than 140 people were killed in a train derailment and at Kuneru in Andhra Pradesh where 40 people were killed in another derailment in January this year.

One of the three accused arrested by the Bihar police in January had said that they had planted the bomb at Ghorasan at ISI’s instance and also at Kanpur, prompting the Home Ministry to transfer the probe to NIA, after Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu shot off a letter to Home Minister Rajnath Singh alleging sabotage in at least six train accidents.

Hearing on Hafiz Saeed’s petition adjourned - PTI
The hearing on the petition filed by Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed and four others challenging their house arrest under the anti-terrorism act was adjourned on Monday after a government lawyer requested for more time to prepare for the case.

“We could not get time to prepare the case as we were informed about today’s hearing in the nick of the time,” the government lawyer told a two-member Lahore High Court Bench headed by Justice Syed Kazim Raza Shamsi.

Accepting his request, the court adjourned the hearing till Tuesday.

Mumbai attack mastermind Mr. Saeed, Malik Zafar Iqbal, Abdur Rehman Abid, Qazi Kashif Hussain and Abdullah Ubaid have filed the petition in the Lahore High Court and challenged their detention through senior advocate A.K. Dogar.

The government on January 30, 2017, had put Mr. Saeed and the four leaders of JuD and Falah-e-Insaniat (FIF) under house arrest in Lahore under the country’s anti-terrorism act.

In their petition, Mr. Saeed and the four others had said the government in light of interior ministry’s order detained them for a period of 90 days, with effect from January 30, in exercise of powers under the Anti Terrorism Act.

They requested the court to declare the government order mala fide, without jurisdiction and one that voids the fundamental right to their life and liberty.

The names of Mr. Saeed and 37 other JuD and FIF leaders had earlier also been placed on the Exit Control List, barring them from leaving the country.

Mr. Saeed was also put under house arrest after the Mumbai terror attack in November 2008, but he was freed by a court in 2009.

Mr. Saeed also carries a reward of $10 million announced by the U.S. for his role in terror activities.

The Pakistani security officials who detained the two senior clerics from Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin dargah focussed on only one issue during their questioning – who were the Barelvi leaders they had met and what had they discussed.

The clerics – Asif Nizami, 82, and Nazim Ali Nizami, 66, members of the extended family of the ‘sajjada nashin’ (hereditary administrator) of the shrine – returned to India on Monday after being untraceable for almost three days.

Since their return, the clerics have acknowledged they were held and questioned but they did not publicly say what they were quizzed about. They also rejected the theory that they had gone to the interior of Sindh province, pointing out their Pakistani visas did not permit them to visit that area.

A person who interacted with the clerics soon after their release said on condition of anonymity that Pakistani security officials had repeatedly asked the two men about the Barelvi leaders they had met and whether they had conveyed any message to the Barelvis from Indian authorities.

The clerics insisted that the sole purpose of their visit to Pakistan was to pray at several Sufi shrines, including the shrine of Baba Farid in Pakpattan, about 160 km from Lahore. The visit to Pakpattan apparently put the Pakistani intelligence agencies on the trail of the clerics.

The questioning by the Pakistani officials also appeared to suggest that the clerics had been directed by Indian authorities to establish contacts with the Pakistani Barelvi leaders. This was rejected by the clerics, the person who interacted with them said.

There were also hints in Pakistani Urdu newspapers, including one known for its close ties with the Pakistani intelligence, that the Hazrat Nizamuddin dargah in Delhi had been infiltrated by Indian spy agencies.

But once the pressure from the Indian government mounted – including a call that external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj made to Pakistan’s foreign policy chief Sartaj Aziz, who was in London – the clerics were freed by the Pakistani intelligence, at least two sources familiar with the matter said.

Pakistan’s Barelvis are generally perceived as moderate but several recent developments have resulted in security agencies keeping a closer watch on the community.

Though the Barelvis are Sunnis with strong connections to Sufi shrines in India and Pakistan, some Barelvi leaders were at the forefront of protests in Islamabad last year against the execution of Mumtaz Qadri, the policeman who assassinated Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer.

Though Qadri was reviled by Pakistani liberals, his funeral drew more than 100,000 people – an indication of the support for the assassin among more radical elements in the Barelvi community. The Sunni Tehrik’s links to the protests for Qadri also worried Pakistan’s security agencies.

The influential Dawn newspaper referred to the pro-Qadri protests as an indication of the “resurgence of religio-political parties belonging to the Barelvi sect”. There is also friction between the Barelvis and Deobandis, whose mosques and madrassas have benefited from the financial largesse of Saudi Arabia.

Sunni Terrorist Fragments of Unstable Pakistan - March 17, 2017

After state polls, Modi softens up on talks with Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: New Delhi appears to be ready to re-engage with Islamabad after months of tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours as the second Indian official delegation arrived in Pakistan on Sunday in less than 10 days.

Following the recent visit of Indian parliamentarians including members from the ruling Bharatia Janata Party (BJP) and opposition Congress, to attend a meeting of Asian Parliamentary Association, a 10-member Indian delegation is in Pakistan for talks on water issues.

The flurry of visits suggests that India seems to be revisiting its hardline policy on Pakistan after Indian Prime Minister Narendara Modi’s BJP further strengthened its grip on power following the ruling party’s massive win in recent state elections including in UP.

The meeting of Indus waters commissioners scheduled to begin today (Monday) will be the first formal engagement since relationship between the two countries nosedived in September last year after the attack on Indian military base in Uri.

Does this apparent policy shift lead to structured dialogue between the two countries?

Officials in Pakistan are cautious over the development. A senior Foreign Office official while speaking on condition of anonymity told The Express Tribune that Pakistan must not read too much into these recent moves by India.

“India may be willing to send its delegation for Indus waters commissioners meeting, but it remains to be seen if this will lead to further normalisation,” added the official.

Pakistan believes that India is not doing any favour by sending its delegation for the talks on water issues, which many analysts believe, if not handled properly could lead to further escalation in tensions.

India under the 1960 Indus Water Treaty is bound to hold such meetings with Pakistan, another official pointed out.

But the current meeting of Indus Water Commissioners is significant in the sense that Indian Prime Minister Narendara Modi threatened to revoke the water accord with Pakistan.

Analysts believe that Modi might have used the water card for domestic audience and since elections were over in India, therefore he has now decided to reopen the channel of communications with Pakistan.

Since September last year, Modi government followed a more aggressive policy towards Pakistan. The main aim of that approach was to isolate Pakistan diplomatically by blaming it for sponsoring terrorism in India.

That approach might have achieved partial success when India persuaded smaller countries in the region to boycott South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit scheduled to be held in Islamabad in November last year.

But, overall Modi’s policy on Pakistan finds little traction as regional powers such as Russia and China have refused to toe India’s line.

Recently, top US commander also questioned India’s policy saying Modi government’s efforts to isolate Pakistan diplomatically was troubling.

The statement by CENTCOM chief General Joseph Votel suggested that the Trump administration will likely persuade India to review its tough policy on Pakistan. US is concerned that increased tensions between Pakistan and India could be detrimental for the mission Afghanistan.

Since Pentagon suggested troops surge in Afghanistan, the role of Pakistan has once again become critical for the US to ensure elusive peace in the war-torn country.

These factors could be the reason that India is now willing to revive some contacts with Pakistan, commented Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed, who is closely following such regional developments.

However, Dr Ishtiaq was skeptical if the recent moves could lead to more meaningful engagement between the two countries.

The reason, he pointed out, is the timing. He said Pakistan would be in election mode within few months and in this situation Indian government is unlikely to restore structured dialogue process.

In a recent interview to a private TV channel, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to New Delhi Abdul Basit was also not optimistic about the resumption of structured dialogue between the two countries.

This cleric story gets better and better.

The Lyin' Soofi
This case gets more and more curious by the hour.

I was taken away from Karachi with my face covered
Syed Asif Ali Nizami, one of the two Sufi clerics who went missing in Pakistan last week, rejected media reports that he and his nephew had been detained by Pakistani authorities on spying charges
..the cleric narrated a curious tale of being blindfolded and taken to an unknown location, where he was greeted with a degree of hospitality.
I was taken to a place quite far from Karachi, with my face covered. I was offered food, they prepared tea and biscuits for me
He also denied being mistreated by the Pakistani authorities, insisting that "no force or coercion was used" against them.
We were not troubled, and were kept in VIP rooms
The reports that we could not be contacted because of network issues is totally false,
The two clerics thanked the governments of India and Pakistan for their safe return
the clerics expressed their desire to visit the country again.
I will definitely go to Pakistan again, bearing a message for peace and love
The duo went missing from Lahore airport
So, a senile, octogenarian is blind-folded, taken away from L'whore airport to an unknown location near/in k'rachi, housed in a VIP room, given chai-biskoot and asked about his dargah matters. Boy, do I have a bridge to sell you.

1. Blindfolded in lawhore and taken to k'rachi...by what? a plane, train or an automobile? How did he know he was not taken to the rural parts if he was blind folded?
2. Cellphone did not work in l'whore or k'rachi or anywhere in between?
3. While the face was covered, he was treated to chai and biskoot
4. Bakis did not mistreat him...no sireee bob!
5. All the baki "authorities" did was to ask him questions on his dargah which they could have asked him in l'whore hawaii adda
6. As that unibrow idiot baki kirketeer said after learning about his new born, "thankj to the boyj", this cleric thanks al bakistan and its agencies for his "release"
7. After all this, he wants to go back to the land of his masters...er kidnappers. I believe this was a simple meeting between a handler or a bagman and his asset. It got out of hand when the cleric's families raised a stink of him being incommunicado.

Some is definitely black in the lentils.Next time an ingrate soofi goes missing in bakistan, let him rot.

Presumably what you posted came from Times of India in which case, for the sake of good order, the web link follows. Check out the embedded video as well:

I was taken away from Karachi with my face covered: Cleric who went missing in Pakistan

Meanwhile BJP politician Subramanian Swamy is reported as indicating that the pair of Sufi Mohammadden Clerics who went “missing” in the Mohammadden Terrorism fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan “were working against the country {ie: India}”. Once again check out the embedded video:

Subramanian Swamy says Indian clerics who went missing in Pakistan were working against country

No terrorists’ network in Pakistan, claims Nisar
Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday told the Senate that there was no terrorists' network in Pakistan as all such banned outfits had been eliminated after the Operation Zarb-e-Azb and now Operation Raddul Fasaad
...he made a distinction between the banned terrorist outfits and the proscribed sectarian organisations in Pakistan
Ch Nisar made it clear that neither terrorist organisations nor sectarian outfits were allowed to operate in Pakistan
He said during the intelligence based operations, thousands of facilitators, financiers and helpers of the terrorists had been arrested across Pakistan

Definitely. Too many inconsistencies here.

He says he had visa only for Karachi and so didn't want to venture into interior Sind, but still went to Lahore to visit Data Ganj Durbar! Also, for four days, the two survived only on tea & biscuits? Reports speak of at least one of them being a frequent visitor to Pakistan.

So what can India do if Pakis declare GB as 5th Province besides making threatening noise.

As far the 2 Islamic caretakers of some Mazar, I had already said that they will not utter a single word against Pakis even if thrashed by them. We know such people in the past have been 5th columnists of Islamic hordes.

^^^ I respectfully disagree saar,
Never officially recognize it and continue calling it part of India.
means nothing. It is just "kicking the can down the road to posterity". Already by now PoK must have been retaken, the problems we are facing now is because we didn't retake much earlier that today we grapple much bigger problems, how to retake PoK in the face of CPEC and other issues getting out of our hands.

In Telugu we have a proverb:
"Alasyam, Amrutam, vishaym" : delay makes even amruth, poison.

Just get it done, plan on retaking PoK.

Intel agencies probably have a file on these maulanaers activities from beforehand.
If one of them was a frequent visitor, that means it is very possible, he was getting some kind of funding from the ISI,in which case a lot of intel agencies would have known.

If there was ISI funding, one wonders if the funding was in Indian currency notes printed at Karachi>

These big big maulanas are suckers for foreign funding and foreign junkets. It is usually saudi/ISI money in the most of cases.

In return they provide safehouses through their contacts. The ISI knows, that the Indian police finds it challenging to raid the quarters inside a mosque or a dargah premises.
