Boris Johnson's decision to pull out of Moscow trip a 'gross miscalculation'
'I simply cannot understand why the Government took this position'

Sam Lister
Critics have turned on Mr Johnson over the cancellation of his trip to Russia Getty
Boris Johnson should not be Foreign Secretary if he cannot be trusted to go to Moscow for talks over Syria, critics claimed after he pulled out of a meeting with his Russian counterpart.

Mr Johnson cancelled the trip following discussions with the United States but the move is a "gross miscalculation" looks “daft” and has landed him in “deep political trouble”, it has been claimed.

US secretary of state Rex Tillerson will go ahead with a planned trip to Moscow to deliver a “clear and co-ordinated” message to the Kremlin over its support for Bashar Assad's Syrian regime.

Theresa May deliberately humiliated Boris Johnson this week
But the move makes the Foreign Secretary look like “some sort of mini-me” who cannot be trusted to hold his own talks with Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov, Alex Salmond said.

The SNP's foreign affairs spokesman told BBC1's Andrew Marr Show: “Boris Johnson just looks daft.
“What is the argument for not going ahead with a visit? Rex Tillerson is going on Wednesday so it can't be that we have moved to a Cold War position of no talking whatsoever.

“The idea the Foreign Secretary can't be trusted because he might pursue his own line or have an independent thought or crossover what the Americans are going to say just makes him look like some sort of mini-me to the United States of America.
:rotfl:
“That's not a position any Foreign Secretary would want to be in.”
“Boris Johnson looks in deep political trouble this morning,” he added.

Liberal Democrat former leader Lord Campbell of Pittenweem said pulling out of the talks had been a “gross miscalculation” and was “frankly inexplicable”.

He told BBC Radio 4's Westminster Hour: “I doubt very much Mr Johnson had the authority to make that decision himself.
“It must have been a decision made at the highest level in government, doubtless with the Prime Minister and frankly I find it inexplicable.

“If your argument is that the solution to the issues in Syria is to be a political settlement then why avoid going to talk to one of the parties which will be an essential feature in any political settlement, namely Russia because of its close relationship with President Assad.

“I simply cannot understand why the Government took this position and in my view, candidly, I regard it as a gross miscalculation.”

“The fact of the matter is if Mr Johnson couldn't be trusted to go to Moscow, then he should not be the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom,” he added.

Russia has consistently denied that Syrian forces used chemical weapons, insisting the incident at Khan Sheikhoun was caused by a hit on a rebel chemical weapons plant, a claim dismissed by the West.

Russia's embassy in London tweeted: “It is deplorable that BorisJohnson found himself unfit to stand Western ground on Syria in bilateral talks with Sergey Lavrov.”

A Government source accused Mr Johnson's critics, including Lib Dem leader Tim Farron, of playing politics.

“It's a shame that some like Farron, Salmond and McDonnell put polls and politics above sorting out a civil war, it's very sad and shows how desperate they are,” they said.

Russia decries cancelled Boris Johnson visit and warns on further Syria attacks
Moscow says decision to cancel trip shows Britain has no real influence and warns further aggressions in Syria will be met with forceful response
Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson arrives for a cabinet meeting at 10 Downing Street, in London, Britain

Peter Walker and Shaun Walker
Monday 10 April 2017
Russian officials have launched a scathing attack on the UK ahead of a gathering of G7 foreign ministers on Monday, criticising Boris Johnson’s decision to cancel an upcoming trip to Moscow due to increased tensions about Syria.

The foreign secretary faced criticism at home and abroad on Sunday for postponing the visit, prompting his allies of the foreign secretary to say critics had put “polls and politics above sorting out a civil war”.

In a further escalation of the rhetoric regarding last week’s US airstrike, a joint command centre made up of the forces of Russia, Iran and militias supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said the retaliatory missile attack crossed “red lines” and it would respond to any new aggression and increase its support for its ally. “What America waged in an aggression on Syria is a crossing of red lines. From now on we will respond with force to any aggressor or any breach of red lines from whoever it is and America knows our ability to respond well,” said the statement published by the group on media outlet Ilam al Harbi (War Media).

Amid continuing repercussions from last week’s chemical weapons attack on civilians in Khan Sheikhun and the US strike, the Russian foreign ministry and embassy in London belittled Britain’s role in the crisis.

The world reacts to Trump’s Syria missile strikes
Johnson’s cancellation showed a “fundamental misunderstanding or lack of knowledge of the events in Syria, Russia’s efforts to settle that crisis and the general objectives of diplomacy”, the Russian foreign ministry said.

“The decision to call off Johnson’s visit to Moscow confirms once again doubts in the presence of added value in speaking to the UK, which does not have its own position on the majority of present-day issues, nor does it have real influence on the course of international affairs, as it remains ‘in the shadow’ of its strategic partners. We do not feel that we need dialogue with London any more than it does.”

Russia’s embassy in London, meanwhile, said it was “deplorable” that Johnson felt unable to meet his counterpart Sergei Lavrov. It tweeted mocking polls, including one that sought views on Donald Trump “as a wartime leader and Johnson as his lieutenant”.
*PS:Even Chris Patten ,last Gov. of Hong Kong,a few days ago in a BBC interview said that Britain must realise that it has diminshed considerably in influence globally and is a middle-ranking power. He was saying this in the context of Brexit, and that leaving the EU would diminish it even further.
Mrs.T (not Thactcher, but Theresa!) seems to think that Britain's traditional role post empire to be Uncle Sam's poodle is the answer to "diminished status". But BoJo's cancellation of his Moscow visit has spectacularly backfired when the US Sec. of State is going ahead with his visit. The Russians have snubbed the US and Tillerson too by cancelling a visit he was to have had with Pres. Putin. NO doubt about it.The gloves are off from the Russian side too.Time to sell shares as they will plummet enormously if there is US-Russia mil spat and the US is planning for more to come.

‘Look at Syria & Yemen. Who’s next?’ – Russian Deputy Defense Minister to RT

https://www.rt.com/news/384151-terroris ... rum-fomin/
Most terrorist groups today are a product of political, financial, and military efforts from the outside of the country where they operate, Russian Deputy Defense Minister, Aleksandr Fomin, told RT ahead of the VI Moscow Conference on International Security.

With terrorist attacks looming large, Fomin said the world is currently witnessing some kind of a hybrid political and military phenomenon, gaining momentum.

“These are some new techniques, and revolutions are exported to different states that are supposedly suffering under undemocratic regimes. So-called democratic regimes are being planted in these countries from the outside,” Fomin said.

“Because of this policy, some states ceased to exist; others are on the verge of disappearing. Look at Syria now, and Yemen. We can ask ourselves - who's next?”

The deputy defense minister spoke to RT ahead of the Sixth Moscow Conference on International Security, scheduled to take place on April 26-27, where the topic of international terrorism will be high on agenda.

“It is obvious now that the threat of the 21st century cannot be eliminated by just one country. It will only be possible if we work together,” Fomin stressed.

“Some terrorist organizations – or even, I would say, the majority – do not just appear out of nowhere all by themselves. Rather they tend to be the product of political, financial and military efforts coming from outside a country. As a rule, these groups are created to do someone’s bidding – they are nothing but puppets,” Fomin said.

Singha as I mentioned yesterday , the story of redline from Russia/Iran/Hizb was a fake

Kremlin Unaware About Assad Allies' Alleged Statement on US Crossing 'Red Lines'

https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/2017 ... red-lines/
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Sunday, Reuters reported, citing a joint command center allegedly comprising the forces of Russia, Iran and militias supporting Assad that the recent US missile attack against the Syrian Ash Sha’irat airfield had crossed "red lines." According to the media outlet, the allies would respond to any new aggression and increase its support for Damascus.

"We are not aware about that, we cannot confirm that and we do not know where Reuters got this and where these anonymous sources appeared from again," Peskov told reporters.

Rouhani: Russia Was 'Inch From Confrontation' With US After Strikes on Syria

https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/2017 ... ikes-iran/
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia was "in an inch from the confrontation" with the United States following the US missile strike on the Syrian Ash Sha’irat airfield, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Monday.

"And if it turns out that the terrorists spread the [poison] gas, what the United States will do? If terrorists find out that the United States will support them every time they spread the gas, what will be with the region? Russian officials said they were an inch from the confrontation [with the United States]," Rouhani said, citing Russian officials, as quoted by the ISNA news agency.

He also said the missile strike damages the negotiating process and underscored the political track as the only solution to the six-year Syrian crisis.

"As for Syria, the final solution must be political," Rouhani said. "What the US has done has harmed the negotiation process."

War has spread from sinai to mainland egypt...

(AFP) President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi declared a three-month state of emergency in Egypt following twin church bombings that killed dozens of people in two cities on Sunday.

Sisi announced the “state of emergency for three months” in a defiant speech at the presidential palace after a meeting of the national defence council.

ISIL terrorist group had claimed responsibility for the church bombings in the Nile Delta cities of Alexandria and Tanta in which at least 44 people were killed.

Sisi said that states that are supporting terrorism must be called to account. “The states that are supporting terrorism must be brought to account,” he said.

The president pointed out that the security services boosted their activities to persecute the criminals adding that the Egyptian people are able to defeat terrorism.

Sisi also called on media to cover emergency situations in Egypt responsibly without inflicting pain on people.

You're assuming the US didn't stage that chemical attack in the first place. With Israeli, Saudi or Turkish collusion it would be easy to even conduct chemical attacks from the air and blame it on Assad.

Trump vexed by question "Why did Assad use chemical weapons?"

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/04/d ... ons-237083
In White House meetings, evening calls with friends and even throughout the weekend at Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump asked a repeated question: Why did Syria’s president use nerve gas? Trump puzzled over the mystery —even as he ordered 59 Tomahawk missiles careening into a Syrian airfield last Thursday night.

Trump isn’t alone. U.S. officials and Syria experts are still debating what Syrian President Bashar Assad was thinking when he ordered a chemical attack sure to spark international outrage. Maybe Assad was hoping to terrorize his opponents. Perhaps he was testing Trump’s limits for his military planning. Trump officials even initially considered the possibility that Assad had not ordered the strike at all, according to one administration official, and that a military commander might have gone rogue without Assad’s knowledge.

Now several U.S. officials say they are reaching the consensus view that Assad was simply acting out of desperation. :(( The embattled Syrian leader is facing a major rebel offensive in Idlib province, led by radical Islamic groups, that his depleted and exhausted army is ill-equipped to counter by conventional means. Chemical weapons were a response of cold-blooded convenience, they believe.

That Trump and his team couldn't initially decide what may have motivated the strike complicated the decision-making on how to move forward, one administration official said, but "not to the point of stopping us from doing anything.”

Still, the uncertainty and its effect on Trump provides a window into how the inexperienced commander in chief copes with major decisions. Aides and friends say the lack of clarity seemed to worry Trump, who is impatient and has sometimes expressed distrust of the intelligence community, while he faced his first military test.

"No one really knew exactly why," a senior administration official said Saturday. "And Trump wanted to know why.”

Trump continued to ask questions about Syria's motive even after the strike, mentioning the lack of a clear motivation to friends and aides at Mar-a-Lago, according to people who spoke to him.

Trump is hardly the only one wondering about Assad's motive. “It’s a good question,” said Paul Salem, a Syria expert at the Middle East Institute. “Nobody really knows.”

While many Syria experts in Washington endorse the official consensus that Assad is desperate to fend off even a weakened rebel opposition, they are still entertaining other theories. :((

Some are complex and probably far-fetched. They include the possibility of a rogue military commander — perhaps loyal to Iran, which has sent troops and funding to prop up Assad — was trying to sabotage the possibility of a U.S.-Russia-Assad alliance that could isolate Tehran. :rotfl:

Another is that Assad was trying to psychologically terrorize his opposition through a so-called demonstration effect. This school of thought holds that “he’s showing the rebels, ‘I can get away with this,’” Salem said. :rotfl:

There was good reason to think so. Until last week, Trump had long argued that any U.S. effort to depose Assad was a distraction from the fight against ISIS. Trump also opposed former President Barack Obama’s threatened 2013 airstrikes in response to Assad’s last use of nerve gas. And the attack came days after Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that Assad’s fate “will be decided by the Syrian people,” and White House press secretary Sean Spicer’s declaration that Assad’s grip on power “is a political reality that we have to accept.”

Until those statements, critics note, it had been nearly four years since Assad had used nerve gas. (His regime has repeatedly used less-lethal chlorine gas against civilians since 2013.)

Another view holds that Assad was testing Trump’s limits in an effort to see how much leeway he might have in future military operations. While Assad has inflicted severe damage on the rebels in recent months, “He still has a lot of mopping up to do and he doesn’t have the manpower for that. He probably wanted to see if it was OK to deal with them with sarin gas,” said Phil Gordon, who served as Obama’s top national security council aide for Middle East affairs.
Ultimately, Trump seemed to think of the strike as a test of his own military leadership — no matter what Assad's true motive was.
So they don't know why he used CW is at all he used and ordered the strike to show they are in charge.
In a way the strike was against US critics.

That was the point I was trying to make , CW can be easily manufactured by any one having the right ingredient , even the normal one used for industrial process ..unless BW or Nuclear Weapons that cant be made under your basement , any one with little knowledge can make chemical weapons that can kill few dozens , We have history of Japanese gangs using CW for Subway attacks.

If US know Syria does have chemical weapons why didnt they put this across in formal complain to OPCW since 2013 when according to SD Syria was free from Chemical Weapons ?

Did Kerry , Susan Rice , US Intel did a shoddy job of detecting and dismantling chemican weapons via OPCW

While at the same time Syria has offically put information to OPCW of ingrediant smuggled across Turkey to make Chemical Weapons.

Why wants DT unmoved when Chemical Weapons were used Many times and infact criticised Obama for going to war etc etc.

This all looks Theatrics to move up DT Approval Ratings and his own 100 Day Achievement as he comes near it.

Now North Korea is on the Crosshair , China accumulating 1.5 lakh troops near NoKo border anticipating US Strikes as per SoKo News Report

China warns against using military force in Syria

More:
http://tass.com/world/940435
BEIJING, April 10. /TASS/. Beijing calls for preserving Syria’s sovereignty and opposes the use of military force in the conflict, China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said on Monday.

"China has always called against using military force in international relations and for preserving territorial sovereignty," the diplomat said, noting that the Syrian crisis can be only resolved by political means.

"It is up to the Syrian people to decide on Syria’s future," the spokesperson said, stressing that China is ready to "work with all the sides for resolving the crisis as soon as possible."

Curious, if the front lines were frozen right now, would the US/EU/Sunnis get what they wanted? An alternative natural gas supply to Europe via pipelines from Qatar? Or do they want more, like an all-out humiliating defeat and strategic loss to Russia? Hard to predict the end game.

Tales from Queen Elizabeth's Rotund Table: No.1/2017

In the year of our Lord 20 and 17,in the never-ending reign of her gracious majesty Elizabeth II, in the time of St.Theresa of May,did this most valiant deed ever seen on a buffet field take place .Ye Knights of her Rotund Table did joust against the forces of eviltude led by the Russian Czar Ras-Putin, in the epic Crimean,sorry...Syrian War,

Knight of the "Rotund Table", Sir Boris of Eaten, gallantly led the charge of the Obese Brigade against the ancient nemesis Russia ,as it did in ye antient War of Crimea. But lo and behold,, Sir Boris and his fellow travellers, the 7 knights of the "G-7",did not ride into battle with arch-enemy Czar Putin and his "toxic" forces. Sir Boris and co. did instead hand over a scroll to a Connecticut Yankee from King Trump's stable, "Sir Tilly of -no-Willy",to carry with him hence to the gates of Kremlin in far-off Muscovy,ye castle of the Russian Czar and to throw down his shining gauntlet and scroll at the feet of Czar Putin, the dire waning from the Knights of the Rotund Table,of the plundering of his caravans of Damascus dates and damsels unless he broke his solemn blood-oath of kinship with his Syrian sorcerer, one Happy Is Assad!

In the great hall of Lunacy in Tuscany ,did the mighty Brigade of the Obese meat to consume with carnivorous custom ,symbolic, Russia ,through gargantuan consumption of its choicest comestibles at a "working buffet" under the light of the Lune, Accordingly did Sir Boris utter the chivalric cry,"Charge your glasses" ,,as on groaning trays on the backs of Cossack waiters did magnums of Stolichnaya Vodka arrive ,to wet the whistles of the Rotund knights. Then from the lips of that famous famous Bully of Bullingdon ,Sir Boris, rang out the Eaten war cry: "Once more into the ditch dear friends..Cry Dog for Donald, England and St. Theresa!" . Thus into the "Valley of Ill-Health" rode the 600 wt knights, with "caviar to the left of them, caviar to the right of them",straight at the lines of Russian comestibles, downing shots of vodka in the charge . "Ours not to reason why, ours but to eat and lie" cried the Obese Brigade, belching and farting their way through an army of waiters and stewards in a mad rush towards the groaning tables of Russian delicacies, guarded by menacing magnums of vicious Russian vodka.

Truly did I.Fled,Lord Tennis & Son pen of that memorable day:

“Forward, Obese Brigade!”
Was there a man dismayed?
No way,the knights well knew
Someone had not blundered!
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to eat and lie.
Into the valley of Ill-Health
Rode the six hundred weight.

Beluga to right of them,
Osetra to left of them,
Sevruga and Stolichnaya in front of them
With volleys of belch and thunderous farts
Storming through vodka shots and oyster shell,
Boldly they drank and ate more than well,
Into the mounds of jell
With greedy paws and out of breath
Did the weighty six-hundred! fest like Hell!

When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wondered.
Who was stung for charges to be paid!
Honour the bill of the Obese Brigade,
Noble Knights of the weighty six hundred!

I dont think a gas pipeline via Syria is even possible for years now , the risk premium would be high with no gurantee that a pipe can ever we laid without one of the 1000 different terrorist blowing it up for some reason.

Possibly they want to get Russian out of Syria their last foot hold in ME , Before Syrian war Tartus was just a sleepy place it was not even a full fledge naval base but now there are plans to make it full fledge naval base.

But this would have be a major ground offensive something not possible even for cooilation forces to do with casulties in lakhs , its like status quo now every one will keep what they have but map wont change drastically for any one may be except for IG which will get less space

The pipeline through Syria was one key desire of the Suadi/Arab coalition. What worried them was the discovery a few years ago by the Norwegians of massive O&G reserves in Syria on and offshore. The Saudis were horrified that Syria could ,with these reserves larger than Kuwait, sell its oil to Europe the easiest way and screw the Saudis (and Gulfies) in the bargain. That's why ISIS was created by the Wahaabis ,originally called ISIL,"L" for Levant, meaning a takeover of Syria. The US and Western entities secretly agreed upon the strategy, easily deniable ,as the methods of ISIS were so barbaric, but tangentially opened up their anti-Assad front through the so-called "rebels",FSA,Al Nusra, etc. These mercenary outfits financed and supported by the West have been getting a pasting ever since Czaar Putin realised what the game was,Russia's interests in the region going down the drain, and decided "enough was enough". In a matter of weeks ISIS was on the run, then Aleppo fell, Palmyra recaptured and the "Allied " coalition finding the going v.tough in Mosul, desperately needing to cut Assad and Putin down to size.Hence the devious false flag "chem attack",giving the imbecelic Trump his "banana",to go awol against Assad,in a complete about turn of his statement of just days before of "forming a global coalition to defeat ISIS".

The Trumpeteer, with hos motley gang of crusading knights from Sir BoJo to Sir Tilly, are his WMDs to scare off Putin! The Russians aren't even giving poor Tilly the time of day and as for Sir BoJo,having already entertained the world over "war with Spain" over Gibraltar,The Donald is like Don Quixote now tilting at another windmill Russia, with his Sancho Panza Sir BoJo at his side!

UK and US push for new Russia sanctions rejected by European allies at G7 meeting
Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson had spearheaded the drive for new sanctions at the G7 in Italy
Britain and America have failed to win immediate support from European allies for new sanctions on Russia following the chemical weapons attack in Syria.

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson spearheaded the drive at the G7 for punitive measures against Moscow, but could not win the full-throated backing he wanted from Germany, Italy or the wider European Union.

Putin: Everyone Wants to Restore Relations With US After 'Anti-Trump' Campaign

https://sputniknews.com/world/201704111 ... -trump-us/

"Everyone wants to restore relations with the Western community after many European countries have taken such an anti-Trump position in the course of the election campaign thanks to the former US administration. Syria and Russia are a very good platform for consolidation. There is a common enemy — wonderful," Putin said.

"We are ready to be patient, but we hope that it will eventually come to some positive trend of interaction," the Russian leader said.

Putin: Russia Has Learned More "False Flag" Chemical Attacks Are Being Prepared On The Damascus Region

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-04-1 ... cus-region
With Rex Tillerson on his way to Russia, moments ago Russian president Vladimir Putin shocked reporters when he said that Russia has received intelligence from "trusted sources" that more attacks using chemical weapons are being prepared on the Damascus region, meant to pin the blame on the Assad government.

"We have information from various sources that such provocations — and I cannot call them anything else — are being prepared in other regions of Syria, including in the southern suburbs of Damascus, where they intend to plant some substance and blame the official Syrian authorities for its use," Putin told a briefing.

Russian President Putin announced that Russia will officially turn to the UN in the Hague for an investigation of the chemical weapons' use in Idlib. Moscow has dismissed suggestions that the Syrian government that it backs could be behind the attack in Idlib province.

"All incidents reminiscent of the 'chemical attacks' that took place in Idlib must be thoroughly investigated," Putin said.

Putin also pointed out that the latest US missile strikes in Syria bring to mind the United States' UN Security Council address in 2003 that led to the invasion of Iraq, an address which has now been thorougly debunked as using flawed information to garner global support for an invasion.

"We discussed the situation with President [ of Italy Sergio Mattarella] and I told him that these events strongly resemble the events of 2003," Putin said at a briefing, outlining the prelude to the US intervention in Iraq.

The Russian president also slammed the Idlib attack, officially denouncing it as a "false flag" attack.

Putin also said that there is no meeting with Tillerson currently on his schedule.

Following Putin's presser, Russian General Staff released a statement announcing that it has information of militants bringing poisonous substances to areas of Khan Shaykhun, West of Aleppo and Eastern Guta in Syria.

Chief of the Russian General Staff Main Operational Directorate Col. Gen. Sergei Rudskoy said that the militants are trying to provoke new accusations targeted at Syrian government for alleged use of chemical weapons. The militants aim to incite the US to conduct new strikes, Rudskoy warned, adding that such measures are impermissible. He said that according to the Russian general staff new US airstrikes in Syria are unacceptable and that the Syrian forces posses no chemical weapons.

Putin in Press Conference with President of Italy Sergio Mattarella

This situation reminds me about the year 2003 when the US representative in the UN showed a test glass with *chemical weapons* that had been allegedly discovered in Iraq. That caused the invasion which resulted in complete devastation of the country and tremendously contributed to the increase of a terrorist threat and the rise of the islamic state. So, when I see what is happening now I cannot help thinking about one good old saying from Ilf's and Petrov's book: You know girls, it's boring.

Looks like Trump immaturity on Diplomacy is showing up ,first they bomb syria because Ivanka trump convinced Trump and then Tillerson goes around G7 with warning to Russia either you are with us or against us.

Then Trump "tweets" telling china I will give you better trade deal if you co-operate with us on North korea and then he says China is not needed , we can do it. Trump: Xi will get better deal from US if China solves North Korean problem

Hope he realises that Diplomacy is a delicate affair with years of hardwork and infinite patience some time to get good result like Iran deal , If Bombing North Korea solves the issue then 8 years of GWB and 8 years of Obama would have done that , Same goes for Syria

Tillerson himself is from corporate background spending all his life working for Exxon and he has zero diplomatic experience and he became Secretary of State because his Wife finally convinced him to do so , So such is his claim to fame !

General Matis and CIA Chief are warmongers and part of Israel lobby will do and say what President wants to hear.

Ivanka Trump and Kushner are Sons in Laws and family members all from corporate background , cant do any thing then add Style to Trump Cabinet

Trump himself is from Business Background and a very Impulsive person , thinking Threatening and promising Good Deal as carrot will solve any issues in the world like he must have done most of his business life.

So VP is quite right when he says that the targets were chosen and routes planned loooooong before the so-called Sarin Attack. IIRC, in Eyerak in 1991, the routes for the first Tomahawks were laid out painstakingly by Special Forces dudes who went in several days before and took pictures. That's why they could navigate urban streets etc.

Philip wrote:Tales from Queen Elizabeth's Rotund Table: No.1/2017

“We’re not going into Syria,” he told me yesterday in an exclusive interview. “Our policy is the same — it hasn’t changed. We’re not going into Syria.”

The president, speaking by phone Tuesday, called Syrian President Bashar al-Assad a “butcher” and a “barbarian” for using sarin gas on his own people, but said last week’s successful missile strike was not the start of a campaign to oust the dictator.

“Our big mission is getting rid of ISIS,” Trump said. “That’s where it’s always been. But when you see kids choking to death, you watch their lungs burning out, we had to hit him and hit him hard.
