2. ATGMs. Tanks need to be urgently reconfigured with those birdcages that the Russians innovated. Plus the moving grillework which must add a couple of tons to the tank weight.

3. This is my big fear: SWARMS of drone UAVs each armed with equivalent of 4 grenades, or C4 IED-Mubaraks. These can penetrate much faster and deeper than VBIEDs and can spread panic. Does India have any of the above in good numbers?
We have Aircraft carriers, unarmed trainer Aircraft, C-17s which are way more important. Who cares about indigenous manufacture of ATGMs, HMGs, GPMGs, Sniper Rifles, AMRs, AGLs? All of which is low cost junk and cannot generate adequate bribes for retirement funds. We learnt nothing from 10 year Afghanistan war as seen by Kargil. We refuse to learn anything from Syria also, get me EMALs!

the iraqi federal police is using cheap cji quadcopters with 2 badminton shuttle grenades (mass produced in iraq) to snipe at daish in the old city.

seems like a good item for our RR/COIn/CRPF units to have, along with the larger drones.

drones are a revolution and anyone who does not have the full spectrum locally is not being wise.

as you can see a front of some 90km has developed from the baath dam on the left to the black bulge on the right.
across the river on south, there is the highway going to deir azzor and mayadin with a few hamlets but nothing major.

ISIS bases in this region are being shelled and rocketed by the US army units that were flown in for the job....they are handling the 155mm artillery and himars as in iraq.

perhaps the SDF would look to slice this region into manageable chunks and bite the biscuit in small pieces....leaving the town of raqqa for last.

PMU intel in the desert mentime reports that daish has sent strong reinforcements to defend Al Baaj and neighbouring hamlets al qayrawan the PMU is making a beeline for across the niveveh desert

US has hit some pro-Assad militia. According to US and reuters and RT.
According to almasdarnews -
"Convoy consisted of soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), National Defense Forces (NDF), Hezbollah, and Imam Al-‘Ali Battalions"

Trump is traveling to KSA this week. If he is going to secure lucrative deals to build seven-star eyesores in the desert with the Trump chhaapa on them... er, I mean, serve America's national interest on that trip, then he must show he is serious. Hence the airstrike. Unlike the 59 SLCMs last month (for the domestic neoconservatives' benefit), this piece of theater is aimed at the Saudis.

The airstrike was against units in Homs, not Idlib. Another red line in the southwest?

Possible actually. A Jordanian bigwig visited DC just last week, IIRC.

Its a problemof geography ...

Jordan is on left. Usa uk and their militias have moved into ayria then a sharp right parallel to iraq border to try and capture 200km away a place called al bukamal in iraq syria border

The damascus iraq highway is perpendicular to this and meets the iraqi border at al tanf right at trijunction with jordan border. If the syrians control the border region these american paid militias have no logistical tail to jordan as highway cuts it..they have no support in iraq itself as contiguous area of al qaim is under govt control.

The game will now shift deeper inland to hit and run fights with these jordan militias and who gets the t3 pumping station 100km east of arak. The saa is help up near arak at talilah crossroad by 100s of isis

Take a look at trijunction on google maps. The syrians are 25km north of al tanf

Syrians will likely unleash 4x4 with atgms to harass these militias...its a long way east 200km to al bukamal and these militias seem to fairly inept..needed us forces to do all heavy lifting

Their prior attack on al bukamal was a fiasco. Isis caught and beheaded quite a few

Sdf is busy in raqqa. Usa wants them to move south and jordan based proxies east to close the syria iraq border under nato air cover.

Al jazeera...amazing number ic true

Some 3,000 to 4,000 ISIL fighters are thought to be holed up in Raqqa city where they continue to erect defences against the anticipated assault, Colonel Ryan Dillon told the Reuters news agency in a phone interview from Iraq's capital, Baghdad.

The US under "Mad Dog Mattis" is truly behaving like a rabid animal in Syria. When the global enemy is ISIS it bombs the Syrian army.Washington is ranting and raving against Russia about Trump giving secret info about ISIS to Ru FM Lavrov, when it claims that ISIS is its main enemy! What duplicity and chicanery. Hard to choose which entity is worse,Communist China or Hypocrisy America.

US air strikes in Syria: Why America really attacked pro-Assad militia convoy
Exclusive: For the Pentagon to suggest that this was a sideshow to Washington’s battle against Isis was to stretch the truth beyond credibility

Robert Fisk
President Donald Trump walks up the steps of Air Force One at Andrews Air Force Base on Wednesday AP
The Pentagon’s account of its Thursday night air strike on pro-Assad militia forces in Syria concealed the real story of a race to the Syrian-Iraqi border by armed groups working for both the Americans and the Syrian regime. Even the targets listed by the US appear to have been wrong. Indeed, what was described by the Americans as a minor action was part of a far more important struggle between the US and the Syrian regime for control of the south-eastern frontier of Syria – a vital supply line for Iran to maintain its forces in Syria.

US airstrike hits pro-Assad forces in Syria
According to the Syrians, the US destroyed not one but four T-62 tanks and a Shilka ZSU-23-4 Soviet-made radar-guided anti-aircraft vehicle manned by both Shia Iraqi militiamen loyal to Damascus and a unit of armed Iranians who were travelling in pick-up trucks to establish positions – on the instructions of the Syrian army -- in the desert west of al-Tanf. Their intention – to set up strongpoints in the vast and largely empty land in advance of the American-trained forces – was an attempt by the Syrian government to keep open the route between Iraq and Syria now that the ISIS-held Syrian city of Raqqa far to the north has been almost surrounded by largely Kurdish fighters loyal to Washington.

Six of the pro-Syrian militiamen were killed in the American air strike and 25 wounded – it is unclear whether the casualties were Iraqi or Iranian – but forces under the command of the Syrian army intend to continue their reconnaissance missions towards al-Tanf. Anti-aircraft gunners aboard one of the pick-up trucks accompanying the pro-Syrian units that were attacked, opened fire on the US jets and, according to the Syrians, forced the American aircraft to fly higher.

US State Department releases new information alleging new atrocities perpetuated by Assad regime
At this point, Syrian air defence units north east of Damascus prepared to fire Soviet-made S-200 Angara ground-to-air missiles (an older version of the S-300 which the Russians have since delivered to the Syrian military) at the Americans – but the US jets had by then left Syrian airspace. One of the five T-62 tanks attacked by the Americans was undamaged.

Nonetheless, the brief action in the Syrian desert was of great importance. The Syrians were obviously trying to test America’s resolve to move its anti-Assad militia forces deeper into the south-east of the country – and the US was prepared, albeit on a small-scale, to show that it was prepared to press on. But the Syrian-Iraqi frontier town of al-Tanf may turn out to be a key strategic point in the struggle of the Assad government to regain its national territory and keep open its border to Iraq and, by extension, to Iran. It lies only 30 miles from Iraq – but because the Jordanian-Syrian-Iraqi borders join immediately to the south – al-Tanf also lies the same distance from Jordan – where the American-trained militia are based.

In pictures: US missile strike against Syria

Although US jets were involved in Thursday’s air strikes, the forces on the ground comprised largely proxy fighters – belonging to both the American-trained ‘rebel’ opposition and to the Syrian military. If US personnel were accompanying the ‘rebel’ forces, then they were lucky that neither the Russians nor Syrian Army personnel were present on the other side. For the Pentagon to suggest that this was a sideshow to Washington’s battle against Isis was to stretch the truth beyond credibility in the Middle East. Cutting Syria off from Iraq – and thus from Iran – appears to be a far more immediate operational aim of US forces in Syria than the elimination of the Sunni "Caliphate" cult which Washington claims to be its principal enemy in the Middle East

Which is why Assad (if indeed he is) is running a fertilizer factory near Damascus. How on earth can you release one of these? They'll just go inflate themselves and kill and main a hundred innocents. A simple noose and a crematorium solve these problems nicely.
