While the Army did not officially clarify this, it stated that assaults were part of a “routine exercise.”
“These are routine things. They keep happening. Things have not escalated because it’s part of a routine exercise,” Army spokesperson Ashok Narula said.
Soon the pakis will start shitting bricks when they hear the word "routine"Entire top brass of Indian Army except the Vice Chief is in Srinagar today for a routine meeting
Make 'Routine' IA's 'Parfaarmans Naarmal'!!!
Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
^^Loving how IA is now openly putting out press statements that SF crossed over and killed uniformed TSPA as part of "pre-emption". And to rub it in, is calling it routinue.
TSPA is sure in for a lot of TLC from IA in the coming days as this turns the new normal

Kashmir Media Service...data issued by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service...
Indian troops have martyred 28 Kashmiris during the last month of May
The killings rendered nine women widowed and 33 children orphaned
Someone is working double shift to keep a tally. However, the analytical report does not mention that 2016 houris found new employment. The troops also damaged 120 residential houses and disgraced 59 women during the month

Is this a new scorecard or older one?
Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
^^ Seems like today's score..
There were news items referring to indiscriminate small arms and mortar fire from the pigs targeting Indian posts, they were probably retaliating for the painful dispatch of the BAT pigs.. Guess IA hit back and hit hard..
The SF boys and the gunners must be sporting a broad grin these days

As I understand, yes. Because the first retaliatory firing was in Poonch sector where we lost 1 civilian from the General Reserve Engineering Force (GREF).Karthik S wrote:10 today then in total.
Apparently there was firing in Rajouri sector as well and Bhimber may have been our retaliation

Terrorists killed in Sopore linked with Hizbul Mujahideen: J&K DGPsum wrote:Security forces seem on overdrive last few days.
Read a report about 2 HM guys who threw a grenade yesterday and both hallaled today.
Srinagar: Two militants, who were killed by security forces in an encounter in Baramulla district's Sopore area on Thursday, belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen and were behind an attack on a police party.
"Yesterday, a grenade attack was carried out on a police deployment party in Sopore town in which four policemen were injured," Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, SP Vaid told reporters here.
"The description of assailants and CCTV footage helped in identifying and arresting two persons, including one who had hurled the grenade at the police party," the DGP said.
Vaid said during interrogation, the arrested persons provided information about the hideout of the militants at whose behest they had carried out the attack.
"The security forces laid a cordon around the area. As they were closing in on the house where the militants were hiding, they opened fire. The security forces retaliated leading to death of the two militants," the DGP said.
He said both slain militants were locals and belonged to the Hizbul Mujahdieen.
"They have been identified as Aijaz and Basharat," he added.
Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
What I find really interesting with current conditions is that just a few years back Hizbul was almost a dead group and most of the terrorists belonged to LeT. For some reason, LeT is now completely out of limelight , more so after it became JuD. Seems like most of it's infrastructure and personnel have been transferred to HM now.

Nice hunting, IIRC the count was 30 till today morning, so it's 40 over all uniformed and non-uniformed jihadis till now.Kashi wrote:As I understand, yes. 200 infiltrators are waiting to enter India as per India Today report. So plenty more to meet their 72. Plus the army & police have 12 people marked in J&K. J&K border is going to see activity.Guddu wrote:I am beginning to lose count

Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
The speed at which we are neutralising means, we have good intel.
If its human intel its good. It will keep coming.
Also the politicos and hurriat are unable to protect their guys.
All good signs to destroy the terrorism.

Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
Is there any reason why we cannot use the Garuda or Garuthma from well within our borders to take out these camps in pok? I would not call it an escalation just normal routine exercise. It will exponentially increase the cost of hiding these jihadis for pakistan.
Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
Had same wish, but Garuthmaa is not ready yet apparently.
Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
Most of these camps are just a collection of huts - so it is a pointless exercise other than to cause some jingo celebration. No serious infrastructure that causes loss. Causing deaths is what is neededBheeshma wrote:Is there any reason why we cannot use the Garuda or Garuthma from well within our borders to take out these camps in pok? Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
Has been discussed to death before. Camps are just small bases with minimal infrastructure which mostly remain empty. In order to inflict some pain on Pakis, we have to attack their regular military infrastructure. Bombing a few stone huts and empty land wouldn't make much difference.
Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
The camps are high up in the hills, usually away from the villages below. The pakis want the recruits to be able to cross all those hills, survive in the forest for a few days, before they can reach a safe house in the valley.
Infiltration is prolly a week long process from the launching point in PoK to a safe house in the valley
If a camp is know to be occupied, they can be visited by certain angels of mercy or fire raining down from the skies
The possibilities are endless.
It is only a matter of what the government is comfortable with.

Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
The camps are around Muzzafarabad, like 30-40 kms from the LoC.
Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
If we have intel that certain camps or huts house dozen or so jihadis, it's better option to use garuthmaa or UCAV than sending commandos. Do we really want to send our commandos 40 KMs inside enemy territory or wait for jihadis to reach near PoK or worse cross it.
Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
There is no single solution.Karthik S wrote:If we have intel that certain camps or huts house dozen or so jihadis, it's better option to use garuthmaa or UCAV than sending commandos. If you look at reality "a dozen or more" jihadis in one place and realtime intelligence about them would be a rare occasion. Out of 50 camps - maybe one will have such a collection. There may be a dozen other camps with 2-3 jihadis together in one of half a dozen or more huts. And if just one PGM eliminates 12-13 - they will learn fast and never collect together like that again - they are not stupid. Sending commandos is not the only other choice - but that is one of them. Artillery bombardment is another option. A combination of all these methods will likely be used, if at all.
But a solution like Garuthma or Brahmos would be great if a senior army advisor was known to be present in a room in a camp. The problem of course is realtime intel. That guy will not spend 2 days in the room. He will be there for a few hours - maybe giving a pep talk. In those few hours the exact location has to be known to our intel and passed to the IAF or whatever and a decision made to attack within a time gap of 30-60 minutes. A miss by 50 meters is not good enough. If it is successful Pakis will immediately know that there an insider passing info or tapping of electronic comm. Both will be addressed.
10-12 deaths here and there is not good enough - like useless timepass American Predator attacks that make virtually no difference to a war. They have to be attacked and hit heavily on a sustained basis for months

Sorry Karthik I know you are trying to create a distinction but my father wore a uniform.
Someone's husband wore a uniform
Someone's son wore a uniform.
A Terrorist/ Jihadist never wore a uniform.
Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
Indian UAV or UCAV will be hunted down easily by Op Points directing PAF or Light AD regiments.
No thanks....

Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
Another option would be to wait patiently at the safe house; and as soon as the visitors arrive take them to their 72s. However it probably is impossible to identify the safe houses. The sheer mind boggling impractical nature of finding and monitoring the safe house - was it ever attempted?
Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
I believe Karthik S was solely referring to Pak army, who are no different from terrorists/jihadist, except that they wear a uniform. The lines are blurred to that extent.Khalsa wrote:Uniformed Jihadis ?Karthik S wrote:

Re: India Border Watch: Security and Operations
As per the reports, our surgical strikes last year specifically targetted jihadis huddled in safe houses and launch pads that appeared no different from regular "civilian" huts in the area. That would have required some serious intelligence gathering and planning.SwamyG wrote:Another option would be to wait patiently at the safe house; and as soon as the visitors arrive take them to their 72s. Of course, mapping every safe house, every launchpad would be impossibly difficult.
