Heartening to see passion for space spreading to school children in a small village too and very successfully at that. There is a picture in the article which I have not re-produced here. But, please see that to understand what has been achieved. Read this.
I had posted the above a month back.

Today, NASA is going to launch this 64 gm nano satellite named 'Kalamsat' at 3 PM IST.

These numbers are in the same range as when India launched 103 smallsats on a single rocket, and suggest that Russia is trying to grab the market share that the new small rocket companies are aiming at

ISRO plans complex manoeuvres - The Hindu
As the countdown for the PSLV-C38 mission began on Thursday morning, engineers at ISRO were preparing to execute a series of complex manoeuvres for the shutdown and reignition of the rocket engines in space.

The engines in the fourth stage will be reignited three times, in a bid to master the technique that will enable ISRO to inject satellites into different orbits in a single launch. “It will be a validation of the technique that was tested in the PSLV-C34 mission and deployed in the subsequent C35 mission”, says B. Jayakumar, PSLV project director. The exercise will be conducted after all 31 satellites on PSLV-C38 have been injected into orbit. “Once the last satellite has been separated from the rocket at a height of 520 km, the fourth stage of the rocket (PS4) comprising two liquid propellant engines will be shut down and reignited three times,” Mr. Jayakumar told The Hindu . While the first two firings are expected to last about six seconds each, the third restart is likely to fire up to 40 seconds.

The multiple reignition of the on board engines will validate the technique and provide ISRO with the mission flexibility to inject satellites into three different orbits in a single flight to reduce the launch cost and save time.

PSLV is capable of launching satellites into different types of orbits like Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit (SSPO), Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO), as per the customer requirements. Even though ISRO has enough experience in long duration satellite missions employing multiple restart of the spacecraft’s Liquid Apogee Motor (LAM) engine, it was during the PSLV-C34 mission that it first attempted a reignition of the rocket engine. Subsequently, the PSLV- C35 mission placed eight satellites into two different orbits.

Someone was asking why XL version. Mould it be due to extra fuel requirements to do multiple restarts of the payload adaptor engine ?

Pah.. After hearing rambling nonsense about "Yaan mein lagaye hue camera" and "Prajwalan" and stuff , a relief to be able to shut down the feed. Time to send the Hindi Vibhaag guy home.

Well done ISRO. Was interested to see in real time the 4th stage engine restart burn (it was a 3 burn sequence as per The Hindu") to inject satellites in different planes (to cut down costs and to improve time between launches). Didn't see that unfortunately in the launch telecast.

An excellent mission congratulations

The 'selfie 'cam' showing real time satellite injection was fantastic. Jingo khush hua

An Pslv stage (forget which one) will, circle earth for 19 orbits to conduct scientific experiments. This is a first and Superb bang for the buck.

3 restarts proven.a first.

I thought the commentator said CARTOSAT has 1 m 'reservation' :rotfl: Now satellites also have reservation. Apologies if I heard it wrong.

There is no need to repeat the obvious like ' camera has zoomed in to XYX', etc. soon after launch the erudite and verbose commentator burst into some cringy flower laungaue which is avoidable.

Some typical phrases -'tryst with destiny' and 'proudly putting india on a pedestal' are now cliched. Who writes all this d,lowery language commentary ?

In a nation where we are taught the basis of music is silence our commentator is too verbose. It's as if, he as to maximise his talk time

I declare PSLV to be a reliable launch vehicle from today onwards because today i even forgot to watch the liftoff and found out after reading it in the newj.

Why... Hindi coverage may sound non-nasa like but what if the coverage inspires rural kids from paratha-belt as well and not just the dosa-belt.

imo they should install microphone at launch pad and onboard the rocket and pipe that sound stream to the webcast/TV commentary. once it leaves atmosphere will recede into silence

let people be aware of the rumbling of the beast as it passes through devaloka.

I was able to get only a couple of photos and launch vehicle is barely visible mainly due to unfavorable position of the sun. When the first stage separation took place the sun was exactly behind the vehicle. Will be posting the photo in a couple of min on my twitter page

Regarding the broadcast:
The editor could have stayed with the outdoor camera following the vehicle continuously, instead of switching frequently to control center view frequently.
Also the camera could have tracked the vehicle much longer in the clear skies, maybe up to payload fairing sep.

Thank You Sir

My actual plan was to capture stage separation too but when it happened the Sun was exactly behind the vehicle, otherwise I feel even capturing second stage ignition might have been possible. Thankfully the sky was only little hazy and not cloudy as it was predicted to be

Once this satellite becomes operational, it would be handed over to the defence forces, which have their own infrastructure, which includes ground stations, and trained manpower to access data.
Is it another sample DDMgiri ? Marking a civilian or dual use satellite cent percent military or I'm missing some catch point.

SRIHARIKOTA: Space agency ISRO is all set to launch the GSAT-17 from French Guiana on June 28, the third launch is less than a month.
"GSAT-17 is getting launched on June 28. We will be working on the replacement satellite for IRNSS-1. Our plan is to have two Mark-II and two Mark-III launches apart from eight to ten PSLV launches per year," a beaming ISRO Chairman A S Kiran told reporters after the successful launch of PSLV-C38.
sounds like great music to ear of jingos
About IRNSS-IA, the ISRO chief said a replacement satellite would be sent as the "clocks have stopped functioning and there is a need to replace them."
Earlier, the mission director B Jayakumar said all the satellites launched today by PSLV-C38 had been positioned in orbit. "With today's launch, we have acquired the confidence that we can launch multiple satellites in multiple orbits in a single mission," he said.

Congratulations ISRO!
ISRO doesn't really need Doordarshan for the broadcast. They can just give us feed from their optical tracking cameras (use a high def TV broadcast camera slaved to it), stage seperation videos from the launcher itself, live. Maybe the onboard launcher cameras can be better situated for an unobstructed view, show us the launcher data like altitide, vehicle velocity at the bottom of the screen continously, along with a time stamp. Map in a PIP screen from time to time. Show launcher from different points across the coast. Place some stabilized telescoped cameras along the south-western coast near chennai and further down south, and we can have an excellent broadcast!!!!
Wow !
Was waiting for your pictures to be posted.
