If you see the comments section on any Paki newspaper like Dawn, for most articles involving India or International topics at least, Indians outnumber Pakis by about 3 to 1. Which is a bit problematic since not all of them are espousing the Indian nationalist POV, in fact a lot of them are gullible morons who go head over heels in praising the fairness of the Paki newspapers (and dissing Indian media by comparison) and engaging in pappi jhappi (one-sided and never reciprocated of course).

That is a superb analogy. Simple and hard hitting.

Raymond Davis pens tell-all on 2011 Pakistan incident
Raymond Davis — United States citizen and ex-Central Intelligence Agency employee who sparked a diplomatic storm in Pakistan in 2011 after shooting dead two young men in Lahore — has written a book about his experience. In his memoir, titled The Contractor: How I Landed in a Pakistani Prison and Ignited a Diplomatic Crisis, Davis talks in detail about his experience in Pakistan.According to its description, the book is, "an up-close and personal look at the 2011 incident in Lahore, Pakistan, that led to his [Davis's] imprisonment and the events that took place as diplomats on both sides of the bargaining table scrambled to get him out". His arrest and subsequent release provoked a diplomatic crisis between Pakistan and USA. Some have speculated that the Deep State Agents targeted him , because he had obtained crucial information about OBL - which the Pakis did not want the world to know !

Interview: Raymond Davis talks about his new book: The Contractor: How I Landed in a Pakistani Prison and Ignited a Diplomatic Crisis
A lot has been written about the time contractor Raymond Davis spent in a Pakistani jail in 2011. Unfortunately, much of it is misleading or downright false information. Now, the man at the center of the controversy tells his side of the story for the very first time. In The Contractor: How I Landed in a Pakistani Prison and Ignited a Diplomatic Crisis, Davis offers an up-close and personal look at the 2011 incident in Lahore, Pakistan, that led to his imprisonment and the events that took place as diplomats on both sides of the bargaining table scrambled to get him out.

Female Journalist Strangled To Death In Pakistan .

Senior journalist found dead in her apartment on first day of Eidul Fitr
A former senior subeditor of Urdu daily Nawa-i-Waqt, Zeba Burney, was found dead inside her Khudadad Colony apartment on the first day of Eidul Fitr. Brigade acting SHO SI Javed told The News that the deceased’s sister called in the police after she visited Buney’s house on Monday. SHO Javed said a police team moved the body to hospital for a post-mortem where a medico-legal officer confirmed that the journalist had been strangled to death.
The 65-year-woman, wife of Naeem Qamar, was residing alone in her apartment after the death of her husband, he said, adding that the deceased’s two brothers were residents of Federal B Area and Tariq Road. SHO Javed said residents of the deceased’s building told the police that they saw Burney last time on Sunday night when her apartment’s electric meter caught fire due to a short circuit. The police official ruled out any possibility of the journalist being killed during a robbery bid, saying her stuff and valuables were not touched by anybody when the police team reached the apartment and found the woman dead. SHO Javed said the police interrogated her two brothers who denied their involvement in the murder.
The provincial home minister expressed his grief over the senior journalist’s murder under mysterious circumstances. He ordered the DIG East to launch a probe into the case and take every possible step to nab the killers. Separately, the Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) also condemned the former subeditor’s murder and demanded of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, home minister Sohail Anwar Siyal and provincial police chief AD Khowaja to immediately arrest her killers. Pakistan in general and Karachi in particular is not safe, specifically for journalists, although by what is being repored here, it appears to be a killing not related to her journalism duties !

Paki ( "Academic" ) Pontificates On CPEC And Environment From The Ivory Towers Of Boston

Najam Interviewed on CPEC and the Environment
Adil Najam, Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, was recently interviewed on economic and environmental questions in Pakistan over the lack of transparency about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Najam was quoted in a June 23, 2017 article in The Third Pole entitled “CPEC And The Environment: Good, Bad Or Ugly?” One of the few "Pakjabi Professor" with dual passports,(and high connections in Pakiland ) who has "made it" in Massaland and unsuccessfully wanted to transplant himself in La-Whore a few years ago , showing off his "knowledge" in the cause of Pakistan !
Academia and think tanks needed to come up with “robust environmental impact analyses on a project-by-project basis”, says Adil Najam, dean of the Fredrick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University. :((
Najam emphasises the need for the key regulators – including federal and provincial environmental protection agencies, and the climate ministry – to carry out independent EIAs, and for the government to then act on them at the design phase so that the best possible technology and standards are used for each project. :((
While investment in infrastructure is not only important but necessary, Najam emphasised that it must be “sustainable” and helps the country “leapfrog to a higher standard”. :((
Adil Najam is the inaugural dean of the Pardee School and a professor of international relations and also of earth and environment at Boston University. His research focuses on issues of global public policy, especially those related to global climate change, South Asia, Muslim countries, environment and development, and human development. It should be obvious to this "distinguished professor" that the concept of Environment Studies and Environmental Assessments is mostly foreign to Pakiland and according to recent reports, China, who is "helping" Pakistan "develop" gets a failing grade and is the worst environmental offender in recent history ! So this farticle does not mean much

PS: This is more like a PR Release rather than a research article !

Looks like this gem escaped the attention of jingos, so, arz hai:
Of Indians who troll Pakistani sites

Of possible special interest to certain BRF gurus & garus:
Back on Chowk, there were a brother and sister, the Guptas, two non-resident Indians living in New Jersey, who had made it their mission to expose “liberal Pakistanis”. After Chowk wrapped up, they started their own website called “Observing Liberal Pakistan”. How strange is this obsession with Pakistan that it forces Indians living thousands of miles away in the US to “observe” liberal Pakistanis and call them out. Note that it is not about observing Pakistani right wing or Pakistani ultra nationalists or Pakistani Islamists but Pakistani liberals for it is Pakistani liberals who challenge their myopic view of Pakistan.
May Allah nourish us jingos daily on TFTA bakis' tears of rage. Ameen.

Pakistan still sustains tax losses worth Rs3.2tr

The Express Tribune > Business
ISLAMABAD:
A recent World Bank report has suggested that Pakistan is still sustaining tax losses worth Rs3.2 trillion every year due to weak administration and non-compliant taxpayers, but these losses are slightly lower than previous estimates, indicating the narrowing down of tax gap.
ISLAMABAD:
A recent World Bank report has suggested that Pakistan is still sustaining tax losses worth Rs3.2 trillion every year due to weak administration and non-compliant taxpayers, but these losses are slightly lower than previous estimates, indicating the narrowing down of tax gap. Lot of "buzz words" in this farticle about the latest World Bank Report ( flow chart included as a bonus !) with the usual "huge economic potential" of Pakistan and the mildly encouraging tone of the report . So of course, the Report is "politically correct" .
Left unsaid in the report, if of course the "big time" tax dodgers like PM Ganja Nawaz and the whole Sharif Clan, not to mention the Chief Money Launderer, Personal Bag-Man of Nawaz , AKA The Finance Minister of Pakistan, AAZ the Dus Percenti PPP veteran, Immy The Kaaptaan ( accused of tax dodging and financial shenanigans by his political rivals !) and the countless active and retired gernails and kernels of the Paki Fauj, including the Kammandu . Is Raheel going to be honest and pay income tax on his "tax free" salary in Saudia ? Remains to be seen !

Christian Family Fleeing Pakistan And Given Refugee Status In USA Not Sure If They Will Be Allowed To Stay Here .

A Pakistani Christian family is scheduled to arrive in the U.S. next week as refugees. Will they be allowed to stay?
Since being approved two weeks ago to fly to the United States as a refugee, Shaz Sadiq has read her Bible and prayed nightly that nothing goes wrong. She fled her native Pakistan — where her father had been killed in a church shooting and she had received frequent death threats — in 2013 and has spent the last four years in Bangkok, Thailand, applying for refugee status and permanent resettlement in a place safe for Christians. “Every day is a miracle. And every day feels like a year,” said Sadiq, 42, who is scheduled to arrive at Washington Dulles International Airport the afternoon of July 6 with her sister and mother. No doubt about it . Pakistan is hell for Christians, Hindus , Ahmedis and other Non- Muslims . Hope she is allowed to stay !
Sadiq, who has no relatives in the United States and has never been in the country, could be among the last refugees of her kind admitted to the U.S. — at least for a while — now that the Supreme Court has revived President Trump’s travel ban.
With exceptions for people with a “bona fide relationship” to schools, employers, family or other U.S. entities, the ban going into effect Thursday will block admissions of people from six majority-Muslim countries for 90 days as the government evaluates its vetting procedures. Pakistan is not on that list. But the travel order also bans refugees from all countries for 120 days. Advocates for immigrants and refugees have been struggling to interpret the court’s less-than-clear language on who is exempt from the new travel rules and say that the federal government has caused confusion by not releasing guidelines on which refugees it will accept. The State Department is studying how to define “bona fide relationship,” spokeswoman Heather Nauert said this week. Refugees already en route — whether they have a bona fide relationship to the U.S. or not — would be allowed into the U.S. through July 6. Because this kind of an entry will generate "bad press" for Pakistan, expect the Paki Embassy to either protest their admission or work behind the scene - one pretext or the other - to deny them admission !
But a representative of the resettlement agency helping her family, the International Rescue Committee, said he’s less sure because her scheduled arrival comes at the brink of the deadline. A small delay on either of her two flights could push her over. “I’m not confident this family will make it in,” said Ruben Chandrasekar, ( he should make this his personal mission !) a regional director for the organization in the Washington, D.C., area.
“A lot will depend on the exact guidance we get from the State Department,” he said.
Sadiq is being resettled with his office because she knows an employee of the organization in the Washington area for whom she did translation work in Pakistan. But that kind of relationship may not be enough to pass government muster should she arrive late or local officials decide to apply their own discretion, Chandrasekar said. “This family has no family member connection in the area, so that also makes it harder to make a case if we have to,” he said.
Though Sadiq, her sister, Rahila, and their mother, Doris, passed a vetting process that took years, they plan to celebrate only after passing customs agents and stepping foot on American soil. “Our heart is dead with so many things,” she said. “We don’t have excitement. Maybe we will once we get to America.” She said she hopes that anti-immigrant views in the U.S. won’t affect her family. “If you have a guest in your house and the guest does not follow the rules, you have to understand if the guest has problems,” she said. “But we are not troublemakers. We are friendly, polite women. We want to live our own lives. We are not going to be a bother.”
Once when she is admitted and settled down, hope she is able to speak about the treatment meted to her by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan !

Bad News For Pakistan- NATO To Send More Troops To Afghanistan !

Nato says to send more forces to Afghan war
Reuters.
Nato allies agreed on Thursday to send more troops to Afghanistan, Nato Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said, adding that the alliance would also increase its focus on supporting Afghan special operations forces. Stoltenberg, who was speaking after a meeting of defence ministers in Brussels, also said sanctuaries used by insurgents across the border in Pakistan had “to be addressed as part of the solution to the conflict”.
Send more troops, and (USA also should )downgrade Pakistan's status as a major Non- NATO ally , at the same time
US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis said the United States and its Nato allies likely drew down its big troop presence too quickly from Afghanistan, but he vowed to stick with the war, refusing to put a date on when it might end. “Looking back on it, it's pretty much a consensus that we may have pulled our troops out too rapidly, reduced the numbers a little too rapidly,” Mattis told a news conference following a meeting of Nato defence ministers to discuss Afghanistan.
US forces in Afghanistan are below their peak of more than 100,000 troops in 2011, when Washington was under huge domestic political pressure to draw down the costly operation. Now wait for the "usual" reaction from the Paki Govt and its Taliban proxies :D

Chini Double Talk

China says Pakistan military base talk pure speculation
Reuters.
China said on Thursday that talk the country was building a military base in Pakistan was pure speculation, after a Pentagon report earlier this month singled out Pakistan as a possible location for a future Chinese military base. The Pentagon forecast that Beijing would likely build more bases overseas after establishing a facility in the African nation of Djibouti. Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian was asked at a regular monthly news briefing if China would build a naval base in the Chinese-invested Pakistani port city of Gwadar. "Talk that China is building a military base in Pakistan is pure guesswork," Wu said, without elaborating. No one should expect the Chinese Defense spokesman to admit the same . And of course, the Pakis still want to as long as possible - in name only - to "preserve their status as a major Non - NATO Ally status " to keep the Moolah coming
Djibouti's position on the northwestern edge of the Indian Ocean has fueled worries in India that it would become another of China's "string of pearls" of military alliances and assets ringing India, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Sri Lanka.
China has repeatedly downplayed expectations it could be about to embark on a plan to build military bases around the world, even as it ramps up an impressive military modernization program. This statement by the Chini Defence man is equivalent to a similar statement earlier made by the Chinese Govt that the so-called CPEC will benefit both China and Pakistan , when questions were being raised in Pakiland , and when the details of the agreement - ( which has not been approved by the Paki Parliament)- were leaked out !

Another Paki Journalist Picked Up By "Deep State" Actors !

Committee to Protect Journalists decries reporter's arrest
AP
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has decried the arrest of a reporter who apparently used social media to criticise authorities for alleged reluctance to arrest a lawmaker whose vehicle struck and killed a police officer. The brother of the detained journalist, Zafar Achakzai, says he was picked up on Sunday evening by a group of men wearing both plainclothes and the uniforms of the Frontier Corps.
The brother, Asmatullah Achakzai, told The Associated Press on Thursday that the family has been unable to see or visit the journalist but that they have been promised he will be released “soon.” Pakistan has been cracking down on journalists, making it an offence to criticise the government, the military or the police.
CPJ asks that Achakzai be released quickly and unharmed.
It will be not that easy to "make him disappearance" in view of this public outcry

Paki Authorities On The Defensive In Parachinar.

Authorities say investigating 'deaths' of Parachinar protesters
Reuters.
Tens of thousands of people protested in Parachinar on Thursday to demand better security after twin bombings in a market there last week killed 75 people, officials and witnesses said. Citizens of Parachinar began a sit-in protest soon after the two bombs went off last week on Friday evening, as shoppers were out buying supplies in preparation for the breaking of the fast on one of the last days of the holy month of Ramazan. The crowd, already angry over what they see as the failure of authorities to ensure security, has become more enraged by the shooting dead of three protesters by police trying to keep order. Most likely, the protesters were Shia and the policemen Sunni !
Authorities have not confirmed that three protesters were killed, saying only they were investigating.
Umerzai said the prime minister and Army chief should visit Parachinar, which is close to the border with Afghanistan, in response to the violence the town has suffered. If he shows any sympathy to the Shias, his constituents would not approve, his business in Saudia would suffer and most importantly the Royal House of Saud will not grant him any special favours ( like giving a "job" to Raheel  ) in the future
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced 1 million rupees ($10,000) compensation for the families of every victim of the blasts, and 500,000 rupees for the wounded, but the protesters dismissed that, saying victims of attacks in other places got more, ( because they belonged to the " right sect" ) a witness said.
Security forces stopped media crew from traveling into the town to cover the protest on Thursday, saying they needed special permission. Parachinar is part of the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas, ethnic Pashtun-majority areas along the Afghan border covered by special laws and regulations.
Religious leader Allama Fida Mazahiri said the killing of the protesters in police firing was particularly infuriating. "We have sided with the security forces at every turn in fighting terrorism ... but the firing on protesters is uncalled for and action needs to be taken," Mazahiri said.Doubt any action will be taken !

Another Hindu Harassment Story Surfaces In Pakistan

Hindus of Haroonabad told to vacate houses
LAHORE: Hindu community of Haroonabad area has been asked to vacate their houses by local administration. This is allegedly being done due to pressure from owners of a housing scheme. They want to build front gate of housing scheme by demolishing the houses of Hindus, who have been living there for last three decades. A protest demonstration was held on Thursday in Haroonabad to urge the Punjab government to take action in this regard and to stop the local administration from getting their houses vacated. It is pertinent to mention here that the Assistant Commissioner of District Haroonabad Anjum Zehra issued notices to dozens of Hindu families living in Haroonabad, a tehsil of Bahawalnagar district, to vacate their homes by June 28. Most of the new Housing Societies being built are owned / managed by corrupt Paki real estate moghals( like Malik Riaz) who have powerful backers in the Paki Fauj. So "justice" should not be expected, specially if the victims are Hindus
According to notification copy which is available with The Nation the residents of Chak 72/4R have been addressed ‘…you people have been living here at Jarnali Sarak (The Grand Trunk Road) illegally for a long time and it has been notified on June 13, 2017 that these houses will be vacated because you are illegal occupants of this property.” “In other case the government property will be vacated with government’s force,” the notification said. Daas Ram a resident of Chak 72/R told The Nation on phone that we were facing the wrath of housing society owners who want to demolish their houses. He alleged administration with an under hand agreement with housing society wants to demolish the houses.
Leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (Z) and MNA from NA-191 (Bahawalnagar-IV) Ijazul Haq said that he will look into the matter and provide complete assistance to people. “These people are living there for quite a long time and we will resolve this matter,” he maintained. Society of Hindu Balmiki Mandar (SHBM) president (Haroonabad) Harbans Lal Sultani said that the Hindu families had been living in the area for the last 30 years after the Bahawalnagar commissioner allowed them to construct homes at the government's land called 'Jurnaili Murabba' in 1987. "In 1987, the then Bahawalnagar's commissioner allowed us in writing to settle on the land on an application moved by 69 Hindu families who were employed by local government on contract basis," he added, That was then, and this is now ; the political situation has also changed and so has the India Pakistan equation . The minority community is a victim of the standoff ! the declaration of equal rights for minorities, is just that "declaration" nothing else , not meant to be implemented !
Sultani said that the members of Hindu community built their houses after allotment of land located in Chak number 72-4/R. "However, now the Haroonabad assistant commissioner has issued notices to all Hindu families to vacate their homes."
He called upon the federal government and Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif to direct authorities concerned not to get the land vacated. Good luck to that !

Pakistan bans TAJK backed by Hafiz Saeed - Vijaita Singh, The Hindu
Tehreek-e-Azaadi Jammu and Kashmir (TAJK), which India claims to be a front for Hafiz Saeed’s Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), has been banned by Pakistan after India raised the issue at the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), a global anti-financial terror body, in February this year.

According to the website of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NCTA) under Pakistan’s Interior Ministry, TAJK was placed on the list of “proscribed organisations” on June 8. There are 64 other outfits in the list, which includes Jaish-e-Mohammad, Al Qaeda, Tehreek-e-Taliban and Balochistan Liberation Army among others.

On January 14, days before JuD chief Hafiz Saeed was put under “house arrest” in Pakistan, he appeared at a press conference held by TAJK chairman Ghulam Mohammad Safi. In the video available with The Hindu , Safi said, “I congratulate Hafiz Saeed that he has declared 2017 as the year of Kashmir and that he has agreed to run his programme under the banner of TAJK.” The video was put out by the JuD’s cyber cell and also sports the JuD logo. While the JuD is not banned in Pakistan, it was placed under the category of “organisations under watch” on January 27. Three days later, Saeed was placed in detention under pressure from the United States.

India first raised the activities of TAJK at the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) plenary at Paris in February.

“This the first time, Pakistan has banned an outfit on the basis of representations submitted by India to an international body,” said a senior government official.

Time for Sharif to face accountability, says Zardari
NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has criticised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and said the latter will now understand what genuine accountability is. Addressing gatherings of PPP workers and supporters in Qalander Bux Mubejo village and Bhiria town of Naushahro Feroze district on Thursday, he claimed that Mr Sharif was nervous when his children were being questioned by the joint investigation team (JIT) constituted by the Supreme Court to investigate money laundering allegations against the Sharif family. He accused the previous governments of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of making fake cases against him and his wife, former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, and dragging them in courts. Mr Zardari said he had been kept in prison for 14 years during which he was subjected to severe torture. “Now you [Nawaz Sharif] will have to face accountability,” he added. Of course, his Sindhi audience will understand the rant against the Pakjabi Sharif
He said it would be difficult for Mr Sharif to hide the alleged corruption of his current and previous governments in this age of information technology. “Mian Nawaz Sharif is confused and he has lost courage because the JIT is now questioning him and members of his family,” he said, adding that the prime minister now had no chance to escape from accountability. The former president accused both Mr Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan of not respecting democracy. He said he was a democratic person and would always work for its promotion in the country. Pakistan politics is increasingly being played along ethnic lines !
The former president claimed that the PPP had always protected the country and brought it out of crises. The party’s previous government introduced the 18th Amendment to the Constitution and gave autonomy to provinces, he added. The Paki press had earlier reported that Dus Percenti had taken a "leave of absence" due to medical reasons , but it seems that he wants to take maximum political mileage from Ganja's discomfort
Former chief minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Law Minster Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, Syed Nasir Shah and some MNAs and MPAs were present. Where is Zardari Jr. in all of this . R&R in Londonistan

Pakistan to completely fence its border with Afghanistan: ISPR :((
Director General Inter Services Public Relation Major General Asif Ghafoor has said that Pakistan will completely fence its border with Afghanistan.
While speaking to media in Parachinar today he said, security of every area of the country is important for us. He said additional reinforcements have arrived in Parachinar. “Safe city project for the area have also started,” he said. Major General Asif Ghafoor further said, “Pakistan has decided to completely fence its border with Afghanistan. It will be done in two phases. In the first phase, fence will be built in the most sensitive areas.”Such an announcement has been made in the past as well ! Afghanistan does not recognize the Durand Line ( border) . And has vowed that it will not let this (fence) happen!
He also said that the menace of terror will be crushed with unity only. “We are above any sect. We are Pakistanis and Muslims,” the DG ISPR added. This development comes after the Chief of the Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa reached Parachinar to meet the families of the twin blast victims and tribal elders. So after ignoring them earlier ( because they are Shias !) the Paki Fauj top brass is working "overtime" to repair the damage . !
It’s been seven days since the families and people of the area were protesting and demanding that COAS, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif or Interior Minister Chaudary Nisar should visit them and fulfill their demands. The crowd, already angry over what they see as the failure of authorities to ensure security, has become more enraged by the shooting dead of three protesters by police trying to keep order. Authorities have not confirmed that three protesters were killed, saying only they were investigating. "We are tired of picking up the dead bodies of our people," said Arshad Umerzai, a former provincial government minister.

The Donald Trump Of Pakiland ! Someone Should Take Away The Mobile Phone Of This Tweeting Lal Topee

Zaid Hamid goes on 24-hour anti-Shia sectarian ‘analysis’
Media personality and self proclaimed ‘defence analyst’ Zaid Hamid has over the past 24 hours made what he himself described as an ‘analysis’ of the sectarian divided in Pakistan. The analysis, which was made using a series of tweets, has been met with confusion and questions as to what he is actually trying to say. Zahid Hamid like POTUS Trump likes to go "directly to the awam" via teetar, lest his message gets distorted
The tweets came in the wake of demands by protestors in Parachinar for the army to move out and for the Shia population in the Kurram agency capital to form their own militias to defend themselves from sectarian terrorist attacks. Hamid, who is known for his aggressively nationalist rhetoric and his rather farfetched conspiracy theories, spent a span of more than 24 hours beginning from Tuesday evening where he tweeted exclusively and excessively about the sectarian issues of the country. The series of mean spirited and foul mouthed tweets were full of claims of Hindu-Zionist conspiracies and other outlandish such statements.
It is important to note that he is only one of the many conspiracy theorists of Pakistan
The problem here lies that Zaid Hamid has a widely followed social media presence and his name was one of the top trending searches in Pakistan on Wednesday. What was worrying however were the many strongly worded statements that were made clearly against the Shia Muslim community. What was even scarier was when he refused to acknowledge what he had said by twisting the meaning of his own words.
So, in that sense, he has similarities with POTUS Trump and is therefore not fit to become PM of Pakiland !
And while Zaid Hamid did make sure to use a number of tweets as qualifying statements, they were almost as useful as people that say “I’m not racist but . . .” In Zaid Hamid’s case, the times he praised Iran’s Supreme Leader or claimed he was equivalent to ‘superman’ for the Shia community over the past few years, it was as good as saying “I’m not sectarian but . . .”
Zaid Hamid began what can only be described as his rant on Tuesday evening starting with discussing how the actions of the protestors in Parachinar and their demands are against the national interests of Pakistan. When he was met with criticism he turned to describing the shia community as ‘insincere’ to the Pakistani cause. It was only when he got a lot of negative feedback from these comments that he began to make qualifying statements to seem less biased.
The sequence of tweets continued well over 24 hours with the last one coming less than an hour from the publishing of this piece. One of these days, someone will again make accusations of blasphemy against him ! Lal Topee, an avid admirer of ( Kashmiri convert ) Iqbal is also be known to be a follower of an obscure Pir and therefore cannot be considered a "mainstream Sunni" as he likes others to believe

London Police On The Lookout For A "White Man" In Acid Attack On Two Paki Women .

Man wanted after acid attack on two people in east London
A suspect with face tattoos is being hunted by police after two cousins were sprayed with ‘acid’ as they were celebrating a 21st birthday.
Jameel Muhktar and Resham Khan were left with ‘life changing’ injuries on 9..15am last Wednesday as the pair were celebrating Resham’s 21st birthday.
John Tomlin, 24, is now wanted for questioning and should not be approached by the public, the Met Police have warned. Jameel, 37, is said to be ‘unrecognisable’ following the attack and had surgery earlier this week to treat his horrific injuries. Resham and Jameel had stopped at traffic lights when they were approached by a man who threw the toxic substance at Resham through the window. The attacker then ran around the car to throw more acid at Jameel before fleeing the scene in Tollgate Road, Canning Town, east London. So, it indeed appears to be a case of anti-immigrant and /or anti Malsi action as was suspected earlier. Sad !
Detective Superintendent Neil Matthews, said the attack was a ‘horrendous act of violence’ and warned he should not be approached. Parents pay for daughter's £5,000 boob job as reward for losing weight
He added: ‘I would like to reassure the public that our continued focus remains on finding the person responsible for this horrendous act of violence.
‘We will continue to progress these enquiries as quickly as humanly possible and fully understand concerns that they should be brought to justice quickly.

I don't get the Indian obsession with American CEOs/achievers who were indian in another life (or whose ancestors were Indian) - the so called indian origin. Have ANY of them done ANYTHING for India (that didn't give their business some benefit) out of the good of their hearts? Have they done more for India than their Caucasian predecessors? I have seen this feeling across the board. Be it the likes of ToIlet paper or YouTube comments or quora messages.

If anything it should tell you that the same desi who makes it big in America can't achieve much if they stayed in india. Doesn't that say something about our government, our education systems, our employment systems etc?

Is the reason for this obsession is inability of indians in India to achieve a similar global status. The ambanis, tatas etc are all rich but none of them have really brought india pride through the creation of global products. None of them are creators of an indian Microsoft, an indian Tesla, an Indian Google etc. None of them are admired outside india for anything other than their riches.

I'll be impressed with the names in that lineup that bring skills, jobs, technology etc to india. Otherwise, they are all the same.

Pakistan Leads India In This "Corruption Index" !

Pakistani Nationals Have Stashed More Dollars in Swiss Banks than Indians
While Pakistan lacks behind India in variety of areas, there is this one thing where Pakistanis lead; and that is the amount of dollars they have kept in Swiss Banks. According to a new report that cites official numbers released by Swiss National Bank, Pakistanis have stashed more than Rs. 153 billion in Swiss banks as compared to Rs. 74 billions of Indian nationals that’s parked in Switzerland. With Nawaz and Zardari leading the pack
Report said that while the funds stored in Swiss Banks — that are officially linked with Pakistani nationals — declined by some 16% (it were Rs. 165 billion in 2015), the value is almost double of what Indian nationals have in the banks there. This must be noted that this value of Rs. 153 billion, that’s parked in Swiss banks and linked with Pakistani nationals, is the amount that’s officially declared by individuals.
There could be multiple-fold more Pakistani funds in Swiss Banks with shadow accounts or under the name of off-shore companies and are not publicly linked with Pakistani nationals. It must be noted that Swiss banks offers anonymity to its clients when requested or otherwise — to be even more safe — individuals park dollars in accounts with shadow titles or name-less off-shore companies. It must be noted here that total funds in Swiss banks linked to Pakistani nationals were Rs. 375 billion in 2001 that came down to lowest level of Rs. 134 billion in 2013. Then they picked up again and reached Rs. 164 billion in 2015 but decreased to Rs. 153 billion in 2016.
Report is plausible due to the "level of corruption" in Pakiland, which is many, many , times higher than in India !

The M1 Motorway connects Peshawar to Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The motorway is 155 km long, with 88 km in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 67 km in Punjab. Earlier, the government auctioned M2 and M3 Motorway for the same purpose. Besides, Karachi Airport, building of PTV office and Road Pakistan were also put on mortgage.

According to the above tweet, Raheel is being used by the Crown Prince Salman to do his "dirty work" and keep an eye on Naif, the ousted Crown Prince, in case he makes "trouble".

PS: This in on top of his "military duties" on the Yemen front, where he must have been tasked "to take care of the rebels" ie Shias !

Pakistan borrows another $700m to ease pressure off reserves
The Express Tribune
ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan has obtained another $700 million loan from a European commercial bank for 10 years in a bid to take pressure off its foreign currency reserves, increasing its borrowings to around $9 billion in the past almost one year. The fresh $700 million loan has been obtained at an interest rate of 4.47%, which is significantly lower than the return the country paid in the past on borrowings through Sukuk and Eurobonds. The cost is also lower than what Pakistan paid on the $1 billion raised through a relatively cheaper mode of Islamic financing – Sukuk – in September last year. The country is literally mortgaged to the hilt ! Every few days, bring news of one borrowing or the other .
However, the loan has been got on a policy-based guarantee provided by the World Bank, which will charge 0.5% fee per annum for providing its shoulder. This will increase the overall borrowing cost to 4.97% – still better than previous issues. Pakistan also paid a one-time 0.25% upfront fee to the World Bank. So, Pakistan only got the loan because the World Bank put in a "few good words" - at a cost - for its main customer
With the fresh borrowing, the government has so far got a whopping $3.6 billion in loans from foreign commercial banks since September last year. Total borrowings in the past almost one year swelled to about $9 billion – the highest-ever in a single year in Pakistan’s history, although final figures will be available by the end of next month.
The borrowing from foreign commercial banks is a new phenomenon introduced by the PML-N government after coming to power in mid-2013. This borrowing is done without competitive bidding, unlike raising money by floating international bonds. World Bank Country Director for Pakistan Illango Patchamuthu also tweeted about the fresh loan. “Past week two World Bank guarantees helped Pakistan secure over $1 billion in international commercial financing at very attractive rates,” he tweeted on Wednesday.
For the outgoing fiscal year, the government had budgeted $2 billion in loans from foreign commercial banks. In revised estimates in May, the government increased the borrowing projection to $3.7 billion. About 55% of foreign commercial loans – $2 billion to be precise – came from Chinese financial institutions. For fiscal year 2016-17, the government had budgeted $8 billion in foreign loans, but it has now revised the estimate upwards.

An Afghan Citizen Is Asst Director Of Ministry Of Pakistan's Passport And Immigration :rotfl:

Nisar takes notice[*][/b] of Afghan citizen's alleged appointment as AD

[*] and fumes ![/color]
Minister for Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday took notice of alleged appointment of Afghan citizen as Assistant Director in Directorate of Immigration and Passports. A spokesman of Ministry of Interior said the minister has taken notice on the issue in response to media reports, saying the appointment was made through proposed procedure of Federal Public Service. In the appointment process, the relevant department or interior ministry had no role, the spokesman clarified. The spokesman said the minister has directed National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to verify the related documents of the person and also confirm his Pakistani citizenship. What difference is it going to make ! For a few dollars or rupees, the paperwork can be fixed . This is a huge embarrassment for Ganja's henchman !

Sparks Fly In MQM Civil War

Nusrat lobbying against Pakistan in US, claims Sattar
Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Chief Farooq Sattar on Friday accused MQM-London leader Nadeem Nusrat of carrying out anti-Pakistan propaganda in the United States. Expressing reservations over MQM-L’s activities he said, the behaviour of people of London is a consequence of MQM-P’s stance on August 22 speech and the policy of August 23. “Nadeem Nusrat is lobbying anti-Pakistan in the US which is quite concerning. This is a sensitive national security issue,” he said while addressing media in Karachi. Altaf Bhai's faction based in London, does not recognize Farooq Sattar who appears to have been "purchased" by the Deep State !
The people of London were misusing Muhajir’s name, he said.“We stand by the policy we announced on August 23,” said Farooq Sattar. He also said his party had not receded an inch from the policy of recovering their missing workers. Many Muhajir workers were still behind the bars, he added. The MQM-P chief said they wanted the rule of common man. The Pakjabi Establishment is doing all it can to break Altaf' s hold on the Mohajir population in Pakiland, specially in Karachi and Sind !

14-year-old girl gang raped in Gaggo Mandi
GAGGO MANDI (Dunya News) – A teen-aged girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang raped by five youth in Gaggo Mandi on Thursday, Dunya Nrews reported.According to details, 14-year-old daughter of a driver was kidnapped by Manan and Rizwan when she went out of her house to buy some ice in Muhammadpura locality of Gaggo Mandi. They took her to some unknown place where they molested her along with three other friends. The girl fell unconscious after which her rapists fled from the scene. After gaining consciousness the ill-fated girl reached home and informed her parents about the incident. The father of the girl approached the SHO of Gaggo Mandi Police Station, Mehar Riaz Sial to report the incident who immediately conducted raids and arrested three accused, Imran, Manan and Nadeem Masih, from their houses while search is underway to arrest the other two. The DSP Borewala, Tahir Majeed, informed media that the victim has identified the accused. He further said that a case has also been registered against the arrested accused.
IMO, this is just the tip of the iceberg. For every such press report, there are many instances , where the victim or her family do not report to the police such acts with the result that the culprits are not apprehended ! And then there are instances of family sexual abuse (incest ) which is kept hidden due to obvious reasons !

X Posted from the “Pakistan Economic Stress Watch” thread.

From The Economist.

Pakistan’s old economic vulnerabilities persist: Massive Chinese projects actually exacerbate some of them
THE IMF, claims Pakistan’s government, is surplus to requirements. Ministers in its business-minded ruling party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), boast of a record that means the country can pay its own bills. “We will not go back to the IMF programme,” declared Ishaq Dar, the finance minister, in May, almost a year after the completion of Pakistan’s most recent, $6.6bn bail-out. In a country that mistrusts Western assistance and where protesters portray the IMF as a bloodthirsty crocodile, such words have a heady appeal. But they ring hollow.

On June 16th the IMF warned of re-emerging “vulnerabilities” in Pakistan’s economy. It praised GDP growth of above 5% a year, but noted missed fiscal targets and a ballooning current-account deficit. The fund’s own projections a year ago for the fiscal year ending this June underestimated this deficit by about half the final total of $9bn. And based on trends in early April it overestimated the fiscal-year-end foreign-exchange reserves by $3bn.

Independent economists point out that, many times before, collapse has come on the heels of an IMF programme’s conclusion. Sakib Sherani, a former government economist, says that to avoid “egg on its face” for cheerleading Pakistan’s economic recovery just months ago, the IMF is slowly changing its story. By the end of 2018, many predict, Pakistan will come begging again. The fund responds that it is “too early to speculate”.

Some of Pakistan’s faltering can be blamed on bad luck, such as a fall in remittances from workers in the Middle East. But mostly it was, as usual, bad policy. Like its predecessors, the PML-N has failed to enact the structural reforms needed to break Pakistan free of its cycle of crises. Barely any goals of the IMF’s programme were met. Bloated, underperforming or, in the case of Pakistan Steel Mills, closed-down publicly-owned enterprises drain millions from the government each month. “Circular” debt, caused by delayed payments along the electricity-generation chain, is swamping the energy sector once more. ………………………
The IMF has long been accused of going soft on Pakistan, mindful of its nuclear weapons, boisterous jihadis and proximity to war-torn Afghanistan. Successive Pakistani governments have exploited the sense that their country is too dangerous to fail. They have taken out 12 IMF loans since 1988. The result, argues Ehtisham Ahmad of the London School of Economics, is that aid money plays the role resource riches do in some other countries, encouraging spendthrift government.
