Responding to India's accusation that Chinese soldiers made an incursion into the Indian side to do construction work, the usually low-profile Chinese authorities on Monday criticized the Indian side for violating the consensus on border issues and agreements between the two governments, seriously endangering peace along the border areas.
.
.
It remains unclear whether this flare-up is the fault of low-level Indian troops or a tentative strategic move made by the Indian government. Whatever the motive, China must stick to its bottom line. It must force the Indian troops to retreat to the Indian side by all means necessary, and China's road construction mustn't be stopped.
.
.India's national confidence has been greatly boosted with its GDP rising to fifth in the world. The fact that the US and West are willing to woo India to counterbalance China has particularly added to Indians' sense of strategic superiority.
.
.
India cannot afford a showdown with China on border issues. It lags far behind China in terms of national strength and the so-called strategic support for it from the US is superficial
Above article clearly shows China's deep fear regarding India's rise.. This also clears reason behind timing of this dispute corrosponding to Modiji's US visit.. Chinese abduls comments all over chinese media about teaching us a lesson are nauseating.. But risk of serious confrontation is seems low at present..

Good description and graphics of the new PLAN DDG here.
http://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomac ... push-build
China boosts naval power with Asia’s most advanced warship
The Type 055 destroyer is similar in size to the US Navy’s Arleigh Burke class ships and is billed as a major step forward for Chinese sea power
In comparison to our P-15Bs being constructed, our DDGs have lesser number of VLS silos, but BMos and B-8 LR SAMs are certainly more potent than whatever the PLAN's new DDG carries. Its mix of sev. missile types to fight 3-D threats is a plus point. One also does not know how effective its ASW helo/s is/are.There is nothing very revolutionary about the design though, they've tried to produce an Arleigh Burke counterpart.

One reason why TN developed in spite of bad political leadership is because the good educational institutions and lack of agricultural resources (which made the people to rely on industrial output). So the key to development in UP and Bihar should be getting out of dependence in agriculture and improved educational institutions. Both can be done fairly easily now that we have BJP government in UP and Nitish being a bit cooperative with the center.vina wrote:Basically the Math the math is like this.
Per Capita GDP wise
China : India :: Tamil Nadu : Bihar
Military Spending Wise, GDP wise
China : India :: Tamil Nadu : UP
There. The basic problem is clear. Get UP and Bihar up from the stuck in the 1960s state and bring them up to speed, India will match China. The 30 year rule of Lalloos, and the MullahYum and others in UP and Bihar has been absolutely deleterious. TN and South have some idiotic politics , but that hasn't stopped them or slowed them down.
Bengal is a basket case. I write it off. They are good only for Sloganeering and some street level agit-prop and exporting some pseudo intellectuals in bulk to places like JNU and humanities departments in Furrin Universities and live in a make believe "oh so liberal than thou" world.

Pretty standard stuff for a vessel this size for horizon search, fire control and long range communication and other apertures.

Singha ji, any idea why Cheen is not too keen on building good number of SSNs? Even UK has 6 7 SSNs. OTOH, Cheen are building DDGs on war footing.

Love reading rajfortyseven stuff! Ex-IA intelligence. (Sadly, one of our long-time BRites pissed him off )
Reading his latest on a new J-15 catapult picture apparently taken on cheeni carrier testing base. Determining whether it is showing a launch from EMALS or steam. Raj says steam.
Re: China Military Watch - Sept' 2016
Those carrier comparisons are a bit deceptive. There are currently 11 America Class vessels planned that can surge under the Lighting Carrier concept and carry 20 or more F-35Bs along wth V-22s. Wasp class has 8 active ships as well but those will be replaced by the Americas class. For short support duties I'll take them over China's current aircraft carrier factoring in that they'll be launching stealthy strike fighters. Now deploy 2 of these with a full support group and have an aircraft carrier in the same COCOM and you can increase the capability of that one carrier significantly. With 16 deployed F-35Bs, the Americas can generate 40 sorties over a 14 hour period given her onboard resources. More with more aircraft and support.
Re: China Military Watch - Sept' 2016
ofcourse I never meant to say quality / size does not matter. there is no way that chinese 2030 inventory and number will be able to defeat even 30% of the USN (the pacific fleet)
but against other adversaries like japan and india it will be formidable challenge.
but against other adversaries like japan and india it will be formidable challenge.
Re: China Military Watch - Sept' 2016
THat's not the end game here because their is unlikely to be all out war in that region. From a force projection perspective the Chinese aren't preparing to deal with just the USN in the region, there are a host of other navies with whom they have an adversarial relationship so their calculus and fleet planning must focus that.
Re: China Military Watch - Sept' 2016
Simple inability to build in numbers -- until now. They just built a new factory that would allow them to build four concurrently.Karthik S wrote:Singha ji, any idea why Cheen is not too keen on building good number of SSNs? Even UK has 6 7 SSNs. OTOH, Cheen are building DDGs on war footing.
Their DDGs are not being build in a war footing since the USN calculated that they can't possibly crew them properly.

In 2016 the Chinese Navy commissioned a 4,000-ton frigate in late February and sent it on a 7-month deployment six weeks later. It often takes a year or more for the US Navy to deploy a new destroyer. What are the Chinese doing that the US Navy does not? What does the US Navy do that the Chinese don’t?
Two gray ships riding on the sea go by. They’ve got a bunch of flags flying and a bunch of sailors up on deck. One of them couldn’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag and the other one will rock anything that it comes up against.
Could we commission a guided-missile destroyer and steam it out of the harbor and take it on a world cruise? Yeah, I could. But in that situation I would not be taking care of what I refer to as the center of the universe. I want those men and women on that ship to be 100 percent confident in the ship and confident in the execution of any mission leadership may give them.
So what are the Chinese thinking? I don’t know anything about it. I would tell you that I find it kind of interesting they feel they have to do that. To what end? I don’t know.
I think the "to what end?" that Rowden is alluding to is a navy not even trained fight properly in war time but with enough numbers that it will change facts on the ground and at sea simply by weight of numbers.
The US sees this game for what it is. As long as there is peace, the industrial complex spitting out equipment in Cheen can't be matched. But as Rowden asks, can it fight out of a paper bag? The danger is if you don't make them fight they can still win with improperly crewed ships and aircraft.
So no they are not on war footing. They on a peace time intimidation footing.

If one looks at population stats, China should be scared stiff. Xi is the last emperor.
Sounds disgusting. But, in the event of a war, India can replenish the armed forces with more youngsters than Xi Uncle can.

From the cold shivvers of Tibet -
http://www.janes.com/article/71940/chin ... k-in-tibet
http://www.janes.com/article/71940/chin ... k-in-tibet
China's Ministry of National Defense (MND) has confirmed media reports that the People's Liberation Army (PLA) recently conducted trials of a new light battle tank (LBT) in Tibet.
"Recently a new type of tank has undertaken trials on the Tibetan Plateau. The trials were aimed at testing the tank's performance and are not targeted at any country," MND spokesperson Senior Colonel Wu Qian said during a press briefing in Beijing on 29 June.
An article published on the Chinese website Guancha.cn on 11 June featured images showing what appears to be the new LBT being driven earlier that month on what the report claims is a road in Tibet.
The LBT appears to be a development of the light tank Jane's reported about on 4 January. It has a box-shaped hull that is shorter and narrower that of the Type 96, although its shape is similar to that of the Type 99A with an elevated portion to the rear providing room for the powerpack.
The tank has a shallow glacis and belly plate that are protected by considerable amounts of explosive reactive armour (ERA) to form an angular nose. The ERA seen on the tank is likely to be that of the FY series developed by the China North Industries Group Corporation (Norinco Group).
At its lightest level, FY-I, the ERA offers protection against a single high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) round. At its heaviest level, known as FY-IV, it can withstand armour-piercing sabots and HEAT rounds although at a considerable weight penalty.
Re: China Military Watch - Sept' 2016
Every nation should encode the following into their constitution:
Then no one needs to state is again. The trials were aimed at testing the tank's performance and are not targeted at any country,
Re: China Military Watch - Sept' 2016
i think the syria-iraq exp has shown in similiar deserty terrain - badia, palmyra, khanassir that a Metis/Kornet class ATGM will shred these things from end to end. unless light tanks/IFVs are 'walked up' by a rolling artillery / mlrs barrage (can never be 24x7) or helicopters to scare off ATGMs shooters these things like BMPs and L-MBT are dead meat at 2000m out.
ISIS had a field day hammering the turkish army upgraded Leo2A4 MBT as well in Al-bab. they have also bagged several iraqi army M1A1HA
they are also vulnerable to our own artillery plunging fire , not to speak of SFW. top armour will resist 20mm cannon at most and somtimes only 0.50cal HMG. the syrian theater does not feature much artillery or minefields either.
unless we are caught napping in counter-buildup or decided for dharmic political reasons not to involve our heavy artilllery and IAF (which has stocked up on CBU 105 SFW precisely for these exposed armour in tibet), these "moves" are but ineffectual wailings and twistings of the cornered dragons tail.
just liberally issue extra rations of ATGMs to all frontline units and make sure to move ALL our indep artillery/missile divisions and brigades into the eastern theater. zero in every sq km of the pizza slice .
for good measure let us ask for and obtain some 2000 CBU 105 from the vast reserve stocks of massa with a phone call to the big boss and leak it via friendly media in twitter. big boss's first statement in the bilateral meeting was to thank us for buying khan mil gear because "nobody makes mil gear like khan" -- we totally agree, just give us the keys to the storehouse and we shall take it from there

Re: China Military Watch - Sept' 2016
We have about 500 of those iirc. More than stopping armour, we might use them as first wave to take out anti-air assets in tibet to allow easier movement for our fighters. Then the Jags and MKIs will have an easier time taking out whatever the chinese try to bring in.
Re: China Military Watch - Sept' 2016
these SFW munitions are meant to attack convoys of vehicles as shapes are programmed into the sensors. i dont know if users can change whatever is in there or if some priority is given to tanks > trucks.

A well=known author told me that China's ploy in TIbet is to ease the intense pressure we're putting on Pak.Pak is worried that we'll give it another pasting/surgical strike and is being bailed out by China, who also has bones to pick with us,our refusal to be a vassal state to its OBOR scheme, etc.
The sh*t is going to hit the fan v.shortly. Mr.M being abroad at the moment i9n Israel should use the opportunity to get from Israel whatw e urgently require when the balloon goes up.
The GOI should also instigate an anti-China ,movement amongst the population.A boycott of Chinko ecoware most urgently required. The corrupot Chinese worship money and feel it when their pocket is picked. Why should we finance through a massive $50B trade deficit the Chinese arms build up and aggression on our border?

Liaoning designer tells of the hardships faced by aircraft carrier renovation team
"It was not easy," said Sun. "When it was delivered [from Ukraine], we went inside, only to find it was in a mess full of empty beer cans and jars. It looked like a shabby hull and we had no documents, no standards about it."
Wang Chunhui, director of one section of the carrier department that is responsible for aircraft maintenance, told the Global Times that China had never had an aircraft carrier before and did not know how to deal with the issues the carrier faced. So they had to go about solving them on their own.
Besides, as there were no previous examples to follow, soldiers in different departments had to cooperate and experiment several times before they can make sure operational procedures go smoothly, said Wang.
According to Sun, the wife of one of the deputy chief designers had been diagnosed with cancer but he had little time to stay with her. During a long business trip, his wife died and he did not even see her one last time.
Moreover, other colleagues were lost during the reconstruction. Wang Zhiguo, another designer, said in an interview with the China Youth Daily that his team always worked overtime and they accomplished 30 months worth of work within 15 months, which helped save a lot of time for the following trials.
According to Wang, about 15 of his colleagues died due to overwork. "Many of them were close comrades, and sometimes when I think of them, I can still feel that they were with me. It is painful," he said.
