That we are targeting homes and farms of Pak Army officers is not that interesting in itself. What is more interesting is that we know their home addresses and other details.

i think the article is overstating facts... no Ranger or Army officer worth his salt will make houses/property on the border...they will prefer the greens of Lahore or cool climes of Pindi... these could be safe houses for infiltrators nothing more, which are being identified/bombed.

Not true. Army people in Pakistan are get land in the border areas at cheap rates and become big property owners because India has not attacked them. Yet. These guys will have multiple properties, Muree, Islamabad also - not like aam India junta with one abode.

Army forces Pak’s BAT to retreat

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/indi ... 848786.cms
The Army on Tuesday said it had effectively thwarted another Pakistani BAT (border action team) operation, which is usually conducted by Pakistan army regulars in conjunction with terrorists, in the Keran sector of Kupwara along the volatile Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.

"The BAT action was attempted by seven to eight armed intruders with the aim of destroying one of our posts in the Keran sector at about 1 pm. The intruders were backed by mortar and small arms fire from the Pakistan army posts in the area," said a senior officer.

Unusual failure rate of BAT attacks these days though they have the element of surprise

Wonder if we are getting advance intel or its just the layered grid at LoC coming into play

Only senior retiring officers of TSPA get choice locations like LaWhore or 'pindi or K'rachi. I will try and dig up a report I read many years ago on this selection process.

PoK should technically be only settled and occupied by ethnic Kashmiris (Mirpuris, not included). The act of retired, non-Kashmiri TSPA faujis settled in PoK on free land provided by TSPA violates their (paki) own stated goal of "Kashmir for Kashmiris". My bet is that the non-Kashmiri retired lower level TSPA afsars are mostly pakjabis and pashtoons. I could be wrong. This fact should be highlighted to the Gilgit-Baltistanis and the hurriyatis in Srinagar.

A little bit from column A and a little bit from column B. There seems to be a lot of local, ground level HumanInt involved.

Here are a few sources / links to read that talk about how quasi-private/public fauji enterprises help ex-servicemen to find farms, stud farms, and real estate to settle down. I got a feeling after reading some of these sources that everything in pakiland is either owned by the faujis and or they have a finger in every paki pie. Nothing escapes them.

India's border management and Israeli expertise
http://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Indias-bor ... ise-505952

September 25, 2017

Israel’s expertise in border security is world-renowned, can India benefit as well?

BY DEVSENA MISHRA - The author promotes advanced technologies, startup ecosystem and government’s business and technology related initiatives like Digital India, Make in India and Startup India.

After waiting for a long time, with the leadership change in India we have seen the pace of border security initiatives accelerate. In India, different borders present different challenges. In 2016, some 242 cases of infiltration were reported from the Pakistan border and 95 at the Myanmar border. The India-Pakistan and India-Bangladesh borders are among the world’s most dangerous. These volatile borders are prone to a number of security threats, such as infiltration and exfiltration of armed militants, movements of non-state actors, narcotics and armed smugglers, illegal migrants, separatist movements, smuggling of counterfeit Indian currency, etc.

Israel’s expertise in border security is world-renowned. Israeli companies offer sophisticated electronic and virtual fences, with video motion detection capabilities; electro-optical-based surveillance; autonomous unmanned aerial, ground and maritime patrol vehicles; advanced tracking and screening of people, vehicles and cargo; advanced thermal imagers; long-range radars; as well as underground sensors to detect tunnels. For strong deterrence capabilities, defensible borders are crucial. The concept of defensible borders, as described by former Israeli national security adviser Uzi Dayan, is based on the three key components: “strategic depth, the ability to defend yourself from an attack from the outside and fighting terrorism effectively.”

India has a 15,106.7 km. land border and a coastal boundary of 7,516.6 km. including island territories. Securing the border against the infiltration and facilitating trade and commerce are some of the key objectives of the Indian border management. The Indian government is reviving the existing security infrastructure to deal with the border security challenges. In January 2016, the Indian government approved an elaborate five-layer plan to stop infiltration on the India-Pakistan border. There is a plan to deploy close-circuit television cameras, thermal imagers and night vision devices, BFSRs, underground monitoring sensors, and laser barriers along the border.

In 2015, the Indian government started to implement the initial version of the comprehensive integrated border management system (CIBMS) project. One of the important components of the CIBMS is the use of satellite imagery, which helps security forces analyze the terrain and fortifications along the border. It also helps in planning operations and in infrastructure development. Through CIBMS the security of the two sensitive and most complex-terrain borders will shift from patrolling by regular troops to a quick response-team mechanism which strikes when the control room detects an infiltration attempt. India will have a patrol-free, multi-layered smart fence along its borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh by the end of 2017.

Under Operation Chakravyuh, a network of highly sensitive equipment will be laid along the India-Pakistan border, which will be linked to a control room. The government has decided to install underwater and underground sensor systems to check infiltration. The technology to be integrated includes automated guns, radars with 360-degree detection capability, and versatile airborne micro-aerostat balloons fitted with high-quality surveillance cameras along the border. In 2016, the Indian government sanctioned 2,030.44 km. of floodlights along the international border in the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat, and decided to deploy laser fencing at the 45 vulnerable spots along the Indo-Pak border in Punjab and the Jammu and Kashmir region.

Last year, eight infrared and laser intrusion detection systems started functioning along the international border in Punjab. To safeguard against terrorism and illegal immigration, Israel has built effective barriers along its borders with Egypt, Lebanon, the Gaza Strip and West Bank. In 2011, the number of people illegally crossing the Israel-Egypt border was more than 16,000 and in 2016, that numbers were reduced to less than 20 – a 99% decrease! A report titled “Securing Israel: lessons learned from a nation under constant threat” launched this year by a US Senate panel has highlighted the characteristics of the fencing Israel has constructed to secure its nation, including the Nitzana Security Fence along its border with Egypt and the West Bank Barrier in east Jerusalem.

Israeli companies such as Elbit Systems, Elta Systems, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Magal Security Systems (founded by IAI), Magna BSP, Rafael’s Security Integrated Systems (SIS) and Seraphim Optronics, etc., provide differentiated solutions for intruder detection, real-time regional surveillance, early warning, targeting and border patrol mission management. These companies are known for their C4ISR, advanced electro-optics and SIGINT systems. Their systems are made to work in hard weather conditions and difficult terrain.

In 2016, India’s Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that India is planning to seal the entire border with Pakistan by December 2018. India has taken some good steps to secure the borders and to build infrastructure in the border areas. In India-Israel cooperation, border management is one of the crucial elements. India needs advanced border security mechanisms. The experience of managing complex borders/hostile neighbors and technological capabilities makes Israel a perfect partner for India’s Smart Border Management initiatives.

From my ebook

several other unique observations can be made about the Pakistani province of Punjab (West Punjab) at the time of independence and partition(80).
  • Punjab was the most populous province of Pakistan.
  • Pakistani Punjab was militarized because of the large number of Punjabis in the military,
  • As part of the settlement of retired army personnel, vast tracts of land in West Punjab had been awarded to them.
  • 70% of the voters in Pakistani Punjab had some connection with the military
  • Punjab itself was partitioned so a lot of army personnel had relatives or friends in Punjab who were affected by the events of partition.
  • Pakistani army units from Punjab were tasked with the protection of civilians in the post-partition violence, so the personnel in these army units served both as protectors of the civilians as well as sufferers as their villages or families were affected during partition.
  • Punjabi units were also utilised in Pakistan's unsuccessful attack to wrest Kashmir from India in 1947.
For these reasons, the military in Pakistan was not merely the military, but had political clout as well as political opinions, especially a deep hatred for India. The military also actually owned a lot of land because of the policy of settling retired soldiers by gifting land. The Punjabi dominated army also considered itself a martial race with superior fighting and leadership qualities compared to the East Bengalis (East Pakistanis)

As the first anniversary of surgical strikes conducted by Indian Army special forces draws nearer, the tension on the line of control (LoC) is palpable and the vigil tight. The soldiers of 4/1 Gorkha Rifles posted at Nowgam sector, which looks deep into the Leepa Valley in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, have their fingers firmly on the trigger.

"The orders are very clear. Everyone is supposed to maintain a 24x7 vigil and anyone attempting infiltration will be engaged and eliminated. Any Pakistani post trying to push through terrorists into our territory will be destroyed," a senior Army officer told India Today TV. "We are keeping our powder dry."

The commanding officer of Nowgam post, Colonel Sharang Pun, told India Today TV that the troops have now been deployed in an innovative manner (using a grid deployment) so that they can intercept the infiltrators.

"Our surveillance capabilities have improved significantly in the last few years with the inclusion of radars and sensors which help us monitor our area of responsibility very effectively and more accurately," Pun said.

On the LoC, the Pakistan Army posts are nearby but not much activity could be seen there. Indian troops also maintain a low profile while moving outside their bunkers.

During the night patrolling that India Today TV team took up with the troops, one could see that patrol party is adopting extra care and moving with eyes and ears open literally.

Intelligence inputs have suggested that Pakistan may try to avenge the killings of its soldiers by India, and may choose the first anniversary of the surgical strikes for the action.

Army officers said in the recent times, ground sensors, infra-red thermal imagers and battlefield surveillance radars have been deployed in a big way along the LoC, to improve the monitoring of any movement of terrorists.

INDIAN STANCE ON L.O.C NOW 'VERY AGGRESSIVE'

Officers also admit that after Gen Bipin Rawat took over as Army chief in January this year, the Indian stance on the LoC has also become "very aggressive" as they take direct shots at the Pakistani posts if they are seen aiding terrorists.

"Quick punitive action is taken in case Pakistanis violate ceasefire by firing at our posts, often to provide cover for terrorists trying to infiltrate. The action is so severe that it becomes difficult for the opposite posts to operate for a long time to come," said an officer posted on the LoC.

Due to the newly-adopted aggressive posture on the LoC, the morale of troops seems to be very high. The Gorkha troops that the India Today TV team interacted with sounded very confident.

"As our Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat has said, we will receive the terrorists in the reception area on our side and send them two-and-a-half feet below the ground," the troops said in the KB battalion area.

Already, two major BAT (Pakistani border action team) attempts have been foiled by the troops in the Keran and the nearby Uri sector.

In Uri, where four top Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were killed early this week, the attackers had come fully geared to carry out an attack similar to last year, when 19 soldiers were martyred. The Indian Army conducted the surgical strikes in retaliation to the dastardly attack.

The security forces this year have been successful in eliminating almost 160 terrorists along the LoC and the kills are likely to go up after the end of the apple season, which gets over by October 15.
The narrative has turned to how many kills we have notched up - love it.

All soldiers guarding border with China will learn Mandarin, says Rajnath Singh
https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/for-sol ... rm-1766430
A Chinese language cell was created at the ITBP's academy in Mussoorie to teach Mandarin. Some 150 jawans have already been taught Mandarin, and now all ITBP jawans and officers must learn it.

^ Pakistan has a real chance at peace here. The onus is squarely on Pakistan Army's shoulders. Indian Army is only reacting - it is a rational response to a security problem it is responsible to contain. India's political leadership expects this as a minimal response.

PA has to only:

1. stop cover fire for infiltration
2. not attack Indian civilians

and IA will not attack them. Even if the infiltrators continue coming IA will probably look the other way if PA does not provide cover fire.

Grab the chance Pakistan.

The statement is broader than just about cover fire - as it should be.

It says “support”. I read that as enable in any way - including, training, logistics support and - cover fire.

Stoppage of support to infiltration is too broad an aim that could be secured with just a ceasefire. You would need a broader agreement which I don't see coming.

PA can hope to restore the 2003 - 2012 status if it stops cover fire and simply adheres to CFA.

I have long assumed that this post at cordinates 33°33'27.1"N 78°43'54.1"E (Decimals- 33.557524, 78.731690) near Spanggur belongs to the Chinese 850 meters east of the Former Chushul airstrip belongs to the PLA. Can anyone confirm this, is there any remote chance this is the last Indian post.

My real worry there are clear tracks from this post to Tsaka La Road where our Rezang La war memorial is.

Any idea why the Chinese needed Rezang LA in 1962 when they had aldready got the Spanggur Gap and thus access to Chushul?

^^^ I have mailed them to issue an apology lets see what happens.

Irrespective in my mind whatever damage we do porkies are not going to publicly accept the retribution. More and more I think to me the only appropriate action at this time is limited kargil like operation initiated by us. Time to change status quo of LOC and put porkis 10 km behind. That is the only way we can teach them lesson and publicly humiliate them and prepare ourservelf for PoK capture in future.

I had seen a Porki current account program where they had covered the POK border areas and one tidbit was a lot of soldiers manning their borders post come from the nearby town/villages, they have their near and dear ones staying very close which fall within our gun ranges.

In the program an army spokesman gave an interview saying while the Indians can target our civilian areas we cannot do so as waha pur bhi apne wale log (meaning malsi) hi rahte hain.

It is time to bring in our artillery (at least the 130 MM guns) and shower some love on the pigs.

Apparently the bodies were found with their throats slit. This is the tidbit that has been provided by the sources which often break the news on LoC incidents.

From shatrujeet FB page, pasted as is ...no means of verification or refutal either
#ShatrujeetExclusive #RevengeRaid

As per our sources, to avenge the blood of four Indian army soldiers and their brothers in arms who were martyred recently in a cross border ambush by Pakistani troops.A special team of warriors had moved across the border this afternoon, during which some people have reported the sighting of ghosts in poonch sector.

Later these ghosts were known to have emerged at the post of 59 Baloch of Pakistan Army in Rakhchakri area of POK, where they unleashed all the hell and fury of vengeance and raised a storm of death .

After the violent fury of storm subdued over that post remains of seven pakistani soldiers bodies with few heads missing were observed at that post.Out of this only 3 dead bodies were reported and accepted by Pakistani army as of now because to own up their dead in not in the blood of Pakistani army, delusion and lies are their last refuge.

The ghosts as per last report, melted away into thin air just like they had emerged. They will rise again somewhere ,someday at sometime ,to bring the hell at the doorsteps of the enemies of this nation.

*Photo only for representational purpose.

=======

1. At least 2 "trophies" brought back

2. The post from which the ghosts crossed over is manned by $##& the specific unit we don't want to mention.

3. In complete Panic Pak Army have sealed the area.

Indian Army crosses LOC to retaliate, kills three Pak soldiers.

Indian Army troops crossed over the Line of Control killing three Pakistani army soldiers and leaving one injured in a cross border raid on Monday retaliating to the death of four India army personnel including a major on Saturday. Based on ground intelligence and surveillance intelligence, agencies have identified the Pakistani soldiers killed as sepoy Sajjad, sepoy Abdul Rehman and Sepoy M Usman. The injured soldier on the Pakistani side has been identified as sepoy Athzaz Hussain.

"We got a go ahead to cross over and carry out an operation to avenge the killings of four soldiers including a major rank officer," said government sources confirming the army strike in PoK. According to a statement by Pakistan's Inter Services Public Relations, Indian forces opened fire along the Line of Control killing three of their soldiers. The raid happened in 12 Division of the 59 Balooch Unit in PoK, sources said.

This comes a day after Indian Army said one Pakistani soldier was killed in retaliation to the Pakistani Army firing killing four Indian Army personnel. ISPR said one other than the casualties one Pakistani soldier was injured. There have been frequent skirmishes on the line of Control with Pakistan Army indulging in repeated ceasefire violations. There has also been an increase in infiltration attempts from Pakistan trying to send terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir.

^^ Wonder if these were the worthies involved in the earlier ambush?

If so, would assume they died very painful deaths
