First There Was "Donkey Gosht" In The Bazaars Of La- Whore . Now There Is Croc Meat In South Pakjab !

Two men sentenced for selling crocodile meat in south Punjab
MULTAN – A lower court has awarded sentence and fined to two men involved in selling crocodile meat illegally ( so, is there a legal way too  ) in Kabirwala, area in southern Punjab.
As per the reports, a team of wildlife department caught two men identified as Muhammad Akram and Mazhar during a raid Sarai Sidhu area, days after the officials arrested two persons for selling tortoise meat in Khanewal. The unique and ingenious ways, the Paki Abduls are resorting to , in order to support their families . IMO, croc and tortoise meat may not be "halal fare" under Malsi !
The wildlife department handed over the suspect to the police and a case was registered against them.On Tuesday, the police produced both accused, hailing from Shujabad, before the court, where the judge imposed a fine of Rs10,000 each and gave fixed time punishment.
They supplied the meat to local hotels for consumption of Chinese nationals. ( Ah! The "puzzle" is now solved ! Evidence of more CHINIFICATION of Pakiland  ). On October 23, the wildlife department had arrested two people following charges of selling tortoise meat and illegal hunting in Khanewal. Pretty soon, the exotic and rare species of Paki wildlife is going to "disappear" into the "hungry stomachs" of the Chini fliends.
Officials told media that the accused were caught red-handed during a raid in the area of Sarai Sidhoo when they were hunting tortoise, adding that 50 kilogrammes of tortoise meat have also been confiscated during the action. Cost of doing "CPEC" !

Urgent Chini Help Being Sought To Avoid La- Whore And Isloo Become Another "Smog - Ridden Beijing "

NTDC teams off to China to study anti-smog strategy

by Muhammad Irfan | Published on November 7, 2017
ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister of Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari approved the dispatch of a team of National Transmission & Despatch Company (NTDC) experts to China to devise a strategy to tackle the increasing smog in the country. The team is to study the Beijing model of electricity being developed for smog control, and to further formulate and implement a strategy for Pakistan as well. One more example of accelerating Chinification of Pakiland  The directions were passed in a special meeting on Tuesday chaired by Leghari to assess the situation arising due to power outages caused by the new weather conditions in some parts of the country Cost to be added on to the CPEC bill  .
Officials from Distribution companies (DISCOs), NTDC, Power Generation Companies (GNECOs), National Power Construction Company (NPCC) and Power Division attended the meeting. The federal minister directed that immediate measures such as the installation of anti-smog and anti-fog disc be taken seriously. The situation is currently at critical points, and priority is to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the consumers. Thank Allah that they "forgot" to name India as the culprit  . Leghari also directed all CEOs of the DISCOS and NTDC to work together to formulate a technically sound solution for the problem. He directed the planning and proposals to be finalised within a month’s time.
The federal minister appreciated the efforts of ground teams which are working in extreme weather and fighting impacts of toxic gases deposits at the high transmission and distribution lines Are the "Paki Crown Jewels" safe and sound from this man made malady  .
The minister was informed that areas in MEPCO, LESCO and HESCO region are being faced with smog for the first time. And hopefully, not for the last time either

Meet Pakistan’s First Muslim Female Engineer from Thar :D
Kiran Sadhwani beat the expectations of many when she became first ever female engineer from Thar. She was hired by Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC) as part of their Thar Coal Project. While most of the girls in her hometown of Mithi opt for medical or teaching, Kiran decided to sail against the wind and take up engineering instead. She completed engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) before she was hired.

More Angst For The Disgraced And Decrepit Paki National Carrier :D

PIA Publishes Schedule of Delayed & Canceled Flights for Next 2 Days
Fog and Smog are not clearing up and visibility has dropped to near zero. Due to this, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has made changes in its flight schedule.According to a spokesperson from PIA, due to the weather conditions prevailing in the country, some of PIA flights operating on Wednesday & Thursday been revised and others have been canceled.“The weather conditions are expected to prevail for the next few days and are beyond the control of the airline. PIA has to adjust the timings of its flights due to these weather conditions, as the airline cannot operate flights with poor visibility, keeping the safety requirements in view.” spokesperson said. This results in either cancellation of the flights or flights operated with delays. Excuses, excuses and now more excuses. Paki media reports have indicated that a high level Paki delegation is flying ( not by PIA! !) to (smog ridden ) Beijing and bring home the solution - including how to fly planes in smog weather - to "smog " on the return flight in two days
The following flights have been revised for Wednesday 8th November due to weather conditions...

Moonlighting In The "Gold Digging" Business

These Nayariyas from Peshawar Extract 60 Tolas of Gold From Dirt Every Month
Gold is one of the most precious metals in the world. Yet 60 tolas of gold go into the dirt every month in the Sarafa Bazaar of Peshawar. Local “nayariyas” are workers who extract metals from dirt/sand. During the process of making jewelry, gold particles fall down on the ground and nayariya use old methods to convert it into gold. 125 nayariyas are currently working in three factories in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A nayariya said that we take sand from workshops where gold jewelry is prepared and we give Rs. 5,000 to 10,000 for this sand. Paki Income Tax Officials should put these "nayariyas" on their "Income Tax Watch List"
Pappu Saeen is a nayariya who is “blessed” with the sight to spot dirt/sand containing gold particles. He said that this profession started 50-60 years ago when people were trained in this skill. Pappu Saeen is a jewelry shop owner himself. He said that we give this gold to our apprentices to practice on. Apprentices practice jewelry making on this gold to learn the art of gold crafting and designing.
The sand containing gold is separated from the waste and dried. Graphite, borax, and caustic soda are added to it and mixed. The whole thing is then heated up to 6000°F or 3315°C . The molten mixture is then poured on the ground; ( Ground contamination and ground pollution- and the danger of future diseases to the workers - does not appear to be a problem in Pakiland  ) the heavier and precious metals (gold and silver) settle down while other useless material rises to the surface. The mixture of gold and silver is then heated again to separate the gold from silver.

Paki Revenue Officials "Cherry Pick Offending Abduls" Who Brought Properties In Dubai :D

FIA Will Investigate 100 Pakistani Who Bought Properties in Dubai
The Federal Investigation Agency will investigate the investments of 100 Pakistanis in real estate businesses in Dubai.Sources residing in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) claim that this list of investors was made available to the FIA back in 2014 but no action was taken until 2015. Allegedly, funds transferred by 4, out of 100, of the people in this list were illegal. What is "so magic" about the number 100. From the looks of it, it Seems, that due to the leakage/ seepage of info, that the "big fish" - or one's with right sifarish have been allowed to fly
The other 96 people, who have Pakistani nationalities, possessed real-estate properties in Dubai. The list has details of all the people mentioned; their names, parents’ names, name of freehold property, exact property details inclusive of house/apartment number, etc.
FIA sent a letter to the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai containing this list of people who purchased property. This was sent to confirm and verify the ownership of these properties by the listed people in order to figure out the nature of their purchases, however, the Consulate has not responded till now. For the "right price" the consulate will ensure that your name is not included in the list . For those, "unwilling to cooperate" ( ie pay bribes !) extra attention will ensure that their name is included in the list sent back to FIA
The State Bank of Pakistan assured that no such property has been purchased overseas by any Pakistani citizen. The Consulate was requested again for the details in 2016, but received no response. "Diplomats" sleeping on the job . Or "enjoying" Dubai life on company time !
FIA says that these 100 individuals have been sent notices regarding their properties, 23 have admitted and told the FIA that they do have property in Dubai – so far, the FIA hasn’t taken any action them. Instead, it has talked to the Ministry of Interior to get data about Fund Treaties with other countries so that they can inquire whether the funds were transferred legally or illegally. :((

They said that the army chief’s visit to Iran comes just weeks after Gen Qamar paid a quiet visit to Saudi Arabia.
They might be playing the messanger aka dakiya between the different Saudi factions who are trying to survive the MBS purges.

Terroristan - 29 September 2017

Post by Peregrine »

The Terroristanis are the World's Best "Conmen". They have succeeded in CONNING the Chinawalas by convincing the Chinawalas of KSE being the World's Most Profitable Stock Exchange.

PSX is ugly and broken

Pakistan’s stock exchange resembles a markhor. Imagine it, hearty and proud, holding itself in the manner befitting such a noble animal, such a tough fighter. Imagine it, bold and kingly, hit by a truck on the side of some anonymous stretch of motorway. Imagine it, still and silent, lying there for years on end. Its eyes are glassy and the stale smell is terrible. Flies abound. No one weeps for the markhor. Only stupid animals wander on roads.

It’s difficult to say when the PSX was hit by a truck and ended up in its current foul state of decay. Maybe it was never alive. But as far as legitimate investments being allowed to foster go, it flat-lined a long time ago. Then again, isn’t this just the way things go? The narrative of the broken exchange system is hardly a new one. From Amsterdam to New York, stock exchanges go through phases (or eras) of massive corruption before a government body steps in and enacts legislation like the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. To this day, the Western world fights a tedious war on acronyms: HFTs, CDOs, and MBSs via the SEC, FBI, and FED.

Unfortunately, while high finance may be as intensely boring and cyclical as locally-themed road kill, it is also important and bears paying attention to. Exchanges are how a nation’s corporations are able to raise money and provide better products and services. You, the people, invest in companies and they get your money. They ask for money now so they can pay you back later. If they do well then you see a return on your investment. Everyone wins. It is a tremendous system founded on the principle of time value of money. If I am losing you, let me win you back with another metaphor.

The cymothoa exigua is a vile parasite that removes a host fish’s tongue and then supplants itself in its place. This beast gorges on the fish’s rightful food and provides nothing of value. Yet it is a class of species above certain PSX brokers.
These PSX brokers work often together to lift huge chunks of money off of the outside (honest) investor by utilising lazy tactics that New York invented in 1920. A century behind the curve, the broker unapologetically eats your lunch while pretending to be but a bastion of service, a holy provider of liquidity, a simple soldier making a market. But he is not. He is the furthest removed thing from pushing forward an agenda of honest capitalism. You place a large order? He puts in his order first to take advantage. You invest based on market trends? He makes them up with his buddies by tossing chunks of equity back and forth between themselves like a financial rugby.

Academics refer to these activities politely as collecting manipulation rents, front-running, and pump-and-dump schemes. You might have heard of them in less civil terms.

Most people may feel a lack of concern for this phenomenon. That the financial system of Pakistan is as broken and corrupt as the governing one is hardly a surprise. But one should find a spurious anger in a broken market. How much anger? About $100 million worth (10% of market cap). That’s the amount parasitic brokers implementing manipulative schemes manage to “expropriate” from masoom shareholders looking to invest savings. 100,000,000. That’s eight zeros. Nine digits. Per year.

That’s so many zeros that you could build more than a half-thousand Minar-e-Pakistan’s with it.

That’s so many zeros that in less than six years they’ll be able to buy Somalia. They shouldn’t. That won’t be good for any party involved. But they could.

That’s so many zeros that they could buy three Learjet 85s, crash them into each other and still buy another and then a few restaurants on M M Alam Road. It would make for a frighteningly odd portfolio. But they could.

But, beyond possessing a base sense of morality, why should you care if you do not invest in companies in Pakistan?
Because then the scourge of apathy lends itself to simple reactions in the market. Companies stop listing on exchanges (as they have) because they know that you will not invest (as you haven’t) and they will not be able raise capital. Those that do list find themselves victims of the aforementioned brokers. Some companies delist. They stop producing goods and services of the same quality. They raise prices to stay alive. Now you care. But it is too late. The markhor is dead. The fish is dead. The PSX is ugly and broken.

Bridge Collapses ! Bus Falls ! 24 Dead !

At least 24 dead after bus falls off bridge in Chakwal
CHAKWAL – At least 24 people (The first report of casulities are always underestimated ) were killed after a bus fell off a bridge in Dhok Pathan area in Talagang on Wednesday, Geo News reported.
As many as 55 people have been injured in the accident. The bus was on its way to Lahore’s Raiwind from Kohat, said the rescue sources. The bus fell from a height of 150-feet, the rescue sources informed Either the bridge was not kept in good shape because of lack of maintenance and / or lack of funds . Or the bus was overloaded and lost control . Or the driver was tired or was "high on something" - maybe Peshawar Charas
On August 3, two schoolgirls died and seven others were injured when a school bus carrying children met with an accident on Mianwali Talagang road, rescue and hospital sources said.
Earlier in May, at least four schoolchildren and a driver were killed and eight children critically injured when a speeding oil tanker had crushed a school van in Multan. Reckless driving might be a major factor in all of these accidents !

Pakistan "Dreads" The Day When India Will Be Made A Permanent Member Of The UN Security Council.

Additional Permanent seats in UNSC contrary to democracy, transparency: Maleeha
UNITED NATIONS
: Pakistan Ambassador to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi has said that additional permanent seats in United Nations Security Council (UNSC) would be contrary to the universally agreed principles of democracy, accountability, and transparency. She was speaking at the General Assembly on Security Council reform. She reiterated that Pakistan firmly opposed the creation of new permanent seats in the reformed Security Council in the United Nations , according to a press release.
Lodhi, instead, said that the non-permanent category of membership should be expanded, a solution that was both fair and just, and supported by all member states and groups. “This should serve as a natural point of departure for any reform of the Council”, she added. As and when ( not "if" !) India becomes a permanent member of UNSC, Pakistan will have to "kiss" goodbye to "the so-called unfinished business of partition" in the halls of this world body.
Lodhi concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment towards a comprehensive reform of the Security Council , saying that anything less would be a great disservice to the UN and its vision for our collective humanity. Lodhi, the fake "doctor" did not name India in this farticle

Falijee, of course you know Pakistan better.

But, Kiran Sadhwani is a 400% (not as Musharraf's percentage but well and truly) Hindu name. Besides, she hails from Tharparkar region, a predominant Hindu bastion still to be converted by Islamic fundamentalists. Her hometown Mithi is perhaps an all-Hindu town even within Tharparkar.

Another point to be noted is the fact (underlined above) that girls from that place seem to get highly educated, contrary to girls from similar areas in rest of Pakistan. So, obviously, she could not be a Muslim girl. She still runs the danger of being abducted and converted though. Hope it doesn't happen.

Of course, this is in response to Syed Akbaruddin's brilliant speech the day before demanding reforms.

But, Ms. Maleeha Lodhi must explain how the present UNSC permanent member composition is based on democracy, accountability, and transparency and how these would be violated if the reforms are undertaken.

Balochistan Capital Of Quetta On The Boil Again !

Three including senior cop Hamid Shakeel dead in Quetta blast
QUETTA: At least three police personnel including DIG Hamid Shakeel were killed in a powerful blast that targeted the vehicle of senior cop of Balochistan police in Quetta area of Chaman Housing Scheme on Thursday morning. The blast left at least six others wounded in the early morning blast. All the bodies and the wounded have been shifted to hospital.Personnel of FC and police rushed to the blast site and cordoned off the entire area. Search for the miscreants has been kick-started. But has the "engine" started yet
AFP adds: A suspected suicide bomber killed a senior police official and two of his colleagues in the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta on Thursday, officials said, in the latest attack targeting security forces in the restive province.Officials said the attack hit the vehicle of Quetta’s Deputy Inspector General of Police Hamid Shakil during his morning commute in the provincial capital. The "Chinese Masters" are demanding protection from the Paki Fauj, as more of their citizens will likely be targeted by these "miscreants"
There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the blast but an Islamic State group affiliate have claimed a string of recent attacks in the province.Quetta is the capital of Balochistan province, which borders Iran and Afghanistan and has oil and gas resources. ( which is the "asset" of the fiercely independent Baloch people !)

Falijee, I differ. We always knew that White Pakis had made Londonistan the proxy capital of Terroristan since August 1947. Now, the Paki columnist is confirming that even brown Pakis have decided to make Londonistan the proxy capital apart from the reputation that city already enjoys of being a refuge for exiles or likely-exiles of Terroristan.

Smog & development

OVER the last three years, we have repeatedly been told by the government that infrastructure is the key to development.

Infrastructure will drive growth, it has been argued, and growth will address all the objectives that development is supposed to pursue — from reducing poverty, unemployment, hunger and malnutrition, to putting children back in schools and raising women’s awareness about prenatal health.

Infrastructure has been presented to us as the silver bullet with which to solve all our problems.

Along with this argument, we have seen massive government investments in projects ranging from power plants and airports to highways and ports. Few have wanted to argue against infrastructure getting better and better; if somebody has called this a case of misplaced priorities, and said that more was required to be done, a barrage of epithets, instead of a reasoned debate, has followed.

Today, the consequences of the misplaced emphasis on this development model are evident to all.

Lahore airport was shut down due to smog despite the installation of an instrument landing system last year. Load-shedding is back as the power system is subjected to repeated episodes of tripping due to smog, despite a generation surplus available as of this month.

Hospitals are seeing more cases of people with respiratory ailments, and nebuliser sales are rising. The highways wear a deserted look as driving is almost impossible.

In fact, the debilitating smog that has enveloped our cities has rendered much of the infrastructure investment of the past three years ineffective.

Each year the smog returns with renewed vengeance, and if the trend is not checked soon, we may not be too far off from a time when one of our major cities would have to be evacuated. Already across the border in Delhi they have declared an emergency, although the next step is not very clear.

Last year, the authorities in Lahore had to forcibly shut down steel smelters in the city’s outskirts to reduce emissions.

And smog is not the only problem now.

The finances required to pay for the operation of this infrastructure as well as the necessary reforms to operate it efficiently are far from robust. The development model advanced by this government is now in serious contention here. The smog will lift at some point, but the wrath of nature and the countervailing pressures of the market will exact a heavy toll from this model in the days to come.

China could have been forced to build gold-paved road under CPEC: Aitzaz
Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Aitzaz Ahsan on Wednesday said that Pakistan could have compelled China to build a ‘gold-paved’ road from Kashgar to Gwadar under CPEC had it struck a wise deal before kicking off the mega project.
a more robust negotiation from our side could have definitely compelled it to build a goldpaved road from Kashgar to Gwadar

RAW, other militant groups nexus involved in subversive activities against Pak: FO
Foreign Office Spokesman has said that multiple actors are active in Afghanistan and the nexus between Indian spy agency RAW and other terrorist groups in that country is involved in subversive activities against Pakistan.
Dr Faisal said Islamabad has forcefully taken up the assassination of its consulate staff member Nayyar Iqbal Rana with Afghanistan and the Afghan side has assured Pakistan of thorough investigation into the shocking incident.
To a question regarding anti-Pakistan posters in London and earlier in Geneva, the spokesman said the posters were removed and the countries assured us that these acts will not be repeated.
Pakistan is fully aware of the sinister hands

NHA seeks Rs34b Saudi funding for road projects
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is seeking financial assistance worth Rs34 billion from the Saudi government for five major road projects that also includes rehabilitation of Noushki-Dalbadin Section – a major route that links Pakistan with Iran, it has been learnt.
Comments : With US$ 60 Billion being given by the Chinese, why do the Terroristanis “BEG” for a sum Equivalent to US$ 322 Million i.e. 0.54% of the Chinese Largesse? I find this Very, Very Interesting!
The official said rehabilitation of the Noushki-Dalbadin section (N-40) is the need of the hour as it links several cities of Pakistan with Iran.
Saudi Financing Terroristan’s Trade with Iran? I find this Extremely Breathtaking! :rotfl:

Plea in Pakistan SC as Saudi Arabia contracts out Haj pilgrims’ biometric verification to ‘Indian firm’

(I wondered if the biometic verification is old fashiond branding used since ancient times on cattle)
Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Wednesday received an application requesting it to intervene and order the Pakistan government to voice its concern against Saudi Arabia contracting out biometric verification of Haj and Umrah pilgrims to an “Indian firm”, the Dawn reported.

Under a week-old modification in Saudi’s Hajj and Umrah laws to make biometric verification mandatory for pilgrims, Hajj visitors from Pakistan would have to undergo the additional procedure in order to submit their applications for the relevant Umrah visa. One of the firms known to be given the contract of collection of fingerprint data from the Pakistani pilgrims, according to the Express Tribune, is a Dubai-based company, with an Indian national as one of its directors.

Dawn reported that the application submitted by one Nadeem A. Shaikh stated that “Pakistani citizens’ data in the hands of an Indian company is a matter of national security”. It also mentioned that Iran, India, Egypt and Bangladesh have already refused biometric verification of their pilgrims. {personally, as I said if additional branding with iron is used - this might be a little against human rights}

Mian Maqsood Ahmad, a spokesperson from Pakistan’s conservative Jamaat-i-Islami party, voiced his protest a few days ago, stating that “Pakistan has become the only country where biometric verification (of pilgrims) was required,” and urging the government to take the matter up with the Saudis.

No, things are not falling apart - Chris Cork

Some poems are destined to be pillaged and WB Yeats’s, The Second Coming (1919), is one such. It is also one of the most anthologised poems in the English language and will be familiar to many who have been through the mill of English-medium education in Pakistan. The lines that get trotted out most regularly are the second and third… ‘Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world.’ There is not much cheer in the rest of the poem either. Over the years, I have heard the quote in respect of Pakistan more times than I can remember. Corners of mouths downturn, heads are nodded sagely and drinks gazed into with that ‘Ah yes poor old Pakistan’ look that presupposes an imminent over-the-cliff future for the Land of the Pure.

And it just ain’t so. Two conversations over the last three weeks, one with a fellow analyst and the other with the counter staff at the money exchange I use in the city came to similar conclusions, namely that these days Pakistan is much more of a glass half full than a glass half empty.

There was also agreement in both exchanges that if there was a single thing that was broke and fixable it was the image that the state presents to the world. Pakistan is the prisoner of narratives written by everybody else and they have very little that is good to say. To a large degree this is a self-inflicted wound as the scribblers — and yes I am one — that fill the pages you read here do not have much that is good to say either. There emerges a picture built of a kind of circularity of reportage — the negativity that is the headline story internally is picked up, embellished and institutionalised by every Tom, Dick, and Harry with an investment in the perpetuation of the Pakistan stereotype as an irredeemable basket case.

Despite what you may think the Four Horsemen of a Taliban Apocalypse are not currently cantering down Constitution Avenue in Islamabad. Both the upper and lower houses of parliament at times resemble little more than a playpen with teddies flying in all directions and much bawling and hollering, but neither is actually on the verge of collapse. The institutions of state are proving remarkably durable despite the best efforts of elected members.

The military may be a tad sniffy about the shenanigans in the civvie bear-pits but they have not the slightest desire to take up the reins of power either. And if there is a khaki tinge to foreign policy I think we can live with that. There is a khaki tinge to just about every other damn thing — a bit of a pain in the democratic fundament but hardly a fatal flaw.

The bureaucracy is massively corrupt wherever you look and still manages to keep the three-wheeled wagon rolling. There is poverty and hunger and parts of the country are desperately deprived of every conceivable modern necessity — and yet they have mostly not fallen into armed revolt (…there are exceptions). You may argue that the only reason they have not is that they are too exhausted by the effort of making daily ends meet that they do not have the energy to spare for revolution and you may be right.

Large swathes of the population under five are stunted and malnourished. Karachi is not waving but drowning. Nobody is responsible or accountable for anything. Tomatoes are over-priced. Women everywhere are abused, terrorised and marginalised. See how easy it is to paint that dreadful picture? In less than 300 words the stereotype is buffed up, bolstered and chomped down as the patty in the scrofulous national burger. For years the ‘failed state’ mantra got aired as regularly as the dhobi gets done. The state did not fail and was never…ever…remotely close to failure or collapse.

There was a slow dawning on the faces of those in the currency exchange as they talked themselves through the firewall that they had been busily erecting for most of their adult lives. Even the usually glum security guard looked a bit perkier as I left. Falling apart? Naah…

US worried but rules out mediation to reduce India-Pak tension

WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump's new South Asia strategy focuses on reducing tension between India and Pakistan, a top American diplomat has said but ruled out any mediator role for the US between the two neighbours.

Alice G Wells, the acting assistant secretary for South and Central Asia, told lawmakers that the Trump administration is increasingly concerned about the threat to strategic stability in South Asia associated with the introduction of new nuclear capable ballistic or cruise missile systems in the region.

"The South Asia strategy also focuses on reducing tensions between Pakistan and India," she told lawmakers yesterday during a Congressional hearing on Afghanistan and Pakistan held jointly by House Foreign Affairs Subcommittees for Middle East and North Africa, and Asia and Pacific.

She said the US does not seek a role as a mediator between India and Pakistan, but encourages both countries to restart dialogue at the earliest opportunity.

"An improved relationship between these two countries is critical to regional security and stability," Wells said.

"In particular, the region and the world looks to both Pakistan and India to safeguard against a nuclear conflict in South Asia," she said.

She said the US remains concerned about Pakistan's growing fissile material stockpiles and its expanding and diversifying military nuclear and missile programmes.

Wells also voiced concern over the stability and security of the South Asia region and said the US is ready to work constructively with Pakistan against the terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e Mohammed and the Haqqani Network.

"We remain concerned about the stability and security of the region, and of Pakistan itself," she said.

"We are prepared to work constructively with Pakistan to move against these terrorist groups, including the Haqqani Network, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Jaish-e-Mohammed," she added.

She also told lawmakers that the Trump administration values the role India can play in global security and stability as part of its shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

"We also want to work with India to counter terrorist threats. And we see significant economic and business opportunities in both countries that we intend to explore for the benefit of all of our citizens," she said.

The US welcomes the central role of India in the Indo-Pacific region and throughout the world, she said.

"Our two democracies have a shared commitment to uphold the rule of law, freedom of navigation, universal values, and free trade," she said.

Secretary of state Rex Tillerson also noted that the US views India as a partner for peace in Afghanistan and welcomes India's economic and development assistance efforts.

AmberG-ji:

Again it all " boils down" to the matter of the all important Echendee . How dare Saudi Arabia - an allie - subcontract checking of "Paki citizens" to an "enemy country firm ". In this context I would "offer some advice" for the said Nadeem A. Sheikh ( if that is his "real" name and not one of his aliases !). Why not petition Raheel Sharif on this . IMO, he seems to be the man standing behind the "new" brash, young, crown prince of Saudi, who from all media accounts seems to be the "King In Waiting". And has been doing all the "shakeup" that we recently been hearing about . Maybe, he can pull some strings and (i) rescind the order for Paki citizens facing "biometric inconveniences" or (ii) at the least "give a fresh contract" to a Paki firm - if he can find a qualified one ! That will go a long way in soothing Paki fears !

PS: Where was Paki H&D and why did they not protest to USA , when they had to deal with Rajiv Shah Chief Of US Aid ( a Hindu and a person of Indian origin!), when he used to travel to Isloo to bail out Pakis and dole out US Taxpayer Monies to this double - dealing artificial entity

Standard equal equal crap, but wondering if something is cooking back channel between US, India, and TSP. Reason being that we have seen this script played before, namely, TSP stays quiet while some quiet negotiations are going on. Of late, LoC has been quiet, maybe mistaken, but pigLeT attacks in the valley are sparse. No overt attempt has been made to sabotage Dineshwar Sharma's mission, at least not yet. Except maybe some squealing by TSP's harried rats. All of this leads me to conclude that something is going on back-channel whether US likes to call it mediation or not.

Con-Men Nabbed In Paki PM's Office :D

PM Secretariat’s waiter arrested for issuing ‘fake appointment letters’
ISLAMABAD: The anti-corruption wing of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday arrested a waiter serving at the PM Secretariat for allegedly issuing fake appointment letters.Sources said that the accused identified as Karamat had been involved in issuance of three fake appointment letters against Rs900,000.FIA had started probe into the matter after registering a case against the accused, whose friend is also involved in the scam.
In Pakistan, corruption ( should have mentioned "military corruption" also !) has always been a major problem and is on the rise by the day. :(( . The menace is the root cause of poverty, illiteracy, terrorism, shortage of electricity, food, etc. and lack of governance in the country.
The Paki FIA appears to be on some sort of ( selective ) "witchhunt" these days . Not sure if , the arrested waiter was doing "gol-maal" during Ganja time, or the arrested waiter has a "direct line" to the present PM . Imagine if a mere waiter "collecting" Rs 300,000 per fake appointment ! Then what would be the asking price of the principal secretary to the PM ! Boggles the mind

This Paki Columnist Is Betting That ISIS Will "Migrate" To Pakistan!

ISIS Might Have One Last Escape Route: Pakistan
By Kunwar Khuldune Shahid
The fall of its de facto Syrian capital Raqqa last month signaled the death of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Middle East. On Friday, Syrian troops retook Deir ez-Zor, the last major city with an ISIS presence, just as Iraqi forces took over the crossing in al-Qaim, near the group’s final urban stronghold.
As the group flees the Middle East, it has two obvious destinations: Central and South Asia. Central Asia has accounted for upwards of 5,000 ISIS troops, and South Asia has 40 percent of the global Muslim population – and indeed an entire dedicated ISIS faction – making the region the natural destination for fleeing militants. The greatest lifeline for ISIS might come from the jihadists that form the large chunk of ISIS Khorasan: the leaderless factions of the Pakistani Taliban. Although, the Paki Establishment Cum Fauj is vehemently denying that ISIS has "footsteps" in Pakiland, there have been terrorists attacks inside Pakistan , for which ISIS has claimed responsibility. ! A merger of TTP and ISIS would be a "perfect marketing fit"
On October 19, a statement attributed to the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JA), a Taliban faction that has pledged allegiance to ISIS, said that the group’s Umar Khalid Khorasani has succumbed to injuries following a U.S. drone strike. A day later the group’s Telegram account denied the claims. Since there weren’t any images, audio or video footage in the denial, this appears to be a classic Taliban tactic of denying a leader’s demise long after they’ve been killed.
This is how Mullah Omar was “kept alive” for over two years and how Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Fazlullah might still be posthumously leading his group – another Taliban faction only confirmed their leader’s death from last year after news broke of Khorasani being killed. Therefore, there’s more than a fair chance that both the TTP and JA might be leaderless – and aimless – as things stand, and perhaps as desperate for some breathing space as their fellow jihadists in the Levant. And of course, there is the vast pool of potential recruits from elements of Paki Fauj , who feel that Pakistan is not green enough and therefore may switch allegiances for the "right consideration"
From ISIS Khorasan’s formal announcement in January 2015, which had been preceded by ISIS graffiti and literature popping up across Pakistan, jihadist factions as diverse as Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) – which is dedicated primarily to the extermination of the Shia – and Jamaat-ud-Dawa – which claims to focus on Kashmir jihad – have overlapped with ISIS in Pakistan.
Furthermore, considering that the Pakistan is now formalizing the mainstreaming of many of these jihadists by making them bona fide political players in the country, and the fact that the state continues to encourage jihad among sections of the population, the lure of the ISIS caliphate alone can sustain the group in the country, even with limited operational presence. If ISIS will provide a "hint" that they are willing to enter "Kashmir Jihad" as well, they will be "secretely welcomed with "open arms " and will be labelled as "good terrorists" like Hafez and Masood ( but this will require playing a "double game" with Massa ! )
What the Pakistani state will do if and when ISIS and the Taliban regroup in unison, with some of their allies perhaps sitting in the Parliament, remains to be seen.
Locked
