Man Mohan Singh rejects the charge - The Hindu
Here's the full text of Dr. Manmohan Singh's statement:

I am deeply pained and anguished by the falsehood and canards being spread to score political points in a lost cause by none less than Prime Minister, Sh. Narender Modi. Fearing imminent defeat in Gujarat, desperation of Prime Minister to hurl every abuse and latch on to every straw is palpable. Sadly & regrettably, Sh. Modi is setting a dangerous precedent by his insatiable desire to tarnish every constitutional office, including that of a Former Prime Minister and Army Chief.

The Congress party needs no sermons on "Nationalism" from a party and Prime Minister, whose compromised track record on fighting terrorism is well known. Let me remind Sh. Narender Modi that he had gone to Pakistan uninvited after the terrorist attacks in Udhampur and Gurdaspur. Let him also tell the country the reason for inviting the infamous ISI of Pakistan to our strategic Air Base in Pathankot to investigate a terror attack that emanated from Pakistan

My track record of public service to the country over last five decades is known to everyone. No one, including Sh. Modi, can lamely question it to gain lost political ground.

I reject the innuendos and falsehoods as I did not discuss Gujarat elections with anyone else at the dinner hosted by Shri Mani Shankar Aiyar as alleged by Shri Modi. Nor was the Gujarat issue raised by anyone else present at the dinner. The discussion was confined to India-Pakistan relations. Names of the distinguished Indian public servants and journalists present at the dinner are enclosed to this statement. None of them could be accused of indulging in any anti-national activities.

I sincerely hope that Prime Minister will show the maturity and gravitas expected of the high office he holds instead of concentrating his energy solely on erroneously conceived brownie points. I sincerely hope that he will apologize to the Nation for his ill thought transgression to restore the dignity of the office he occupies.

Terroristan - 29 September 2017

CPEC could develop into Pakistan’s debt trap

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani economy is going through a ‘Creative Destruction’ of sorts. Firms without value addition, global market connectivity and innovation are dying a ‘peaceful death’ or re-locating. Unemployment level remains high. The official data are not credible. There is a lack of implementation machinery for facilitating Chinese private sector’s MoUs, deals, contracts and agreements.

Only big ticket projects by state-owned enterprises are being monitored by officials. The Board of Investment (BoI) mandarins lack corporate capacity, knowledge of global best practices, legal and marketing professionalism and have only English-speaking and may be some drafting skills.

The private sector has failed to move beyond ‘family businesses’, better known by the acronym ‘seth culture’. The private sector has entrenched domestic lobbies in the economy, while the public sector confronts institutional tussles and adopts a solo flight approach. The ruling political class lacks vision, integrity and leadership, with a culture of nepotism, favouritism, and cronyism in governance.

There is also a lack of collective leadership, consensus, compromise, co-existence and teamwork among the various state organs of power along with a lack of consistency in public policies. The small intellectual elite has been either sidelined or has chosen a ‘monastic life’ disgusted to see the affairs of the state, ever since the departure of the founding father Quaid-e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the first Prime Minister Shaheed Liaquat Ali Khan.

Pakistan needs to attract Chinese private sector investors by offering additional incentives. Their investment in small and medium enterprises by way of joint ventures will bring in 90% of the investment envisaged under industrial zones or SEZs of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The existing policies are inadequate with Pakistan unfortunately becoming a captive market for existing monopoly investors, who blackmail the government, and an import mafia which remains keen to import anything or everything, in cohort with the concerned state institutions that destroys domestic economic activity.

An indication of this is visible as to how Pakistan’s ‘Oil Bonanza Surplus’ of $14 billion from 2013-2017 due to falling oil prices, was dissipated on increasing consumer goods imports which has sent the current account deficit to a historic high.

Pakistan’s human resources with nearly two-thirds of the population below the age of 30 years are its greatest asset. Its strategic geographical location is also a great advantage, but not the only one. Social capital is yet another with the most resilient, passionate and determined population. Natural resource endowments are another plus with eleven minerals included in top ten of the world’s reserves and an irrigation system which is the world’s second largest.

Pakistan boasts of eight climatic zones, 14 vegetation zones and four topographic zones. The country is blessed with a natural solar belt and a wind corridor. Almost half of the country sits on Shale gas reserves, which can be exploited with the availability of affordable technology. The Makran coastline is richly endowed with ‘Condensed Ice Gas hydrates’. Now the technology to harness it has become affordable and available, with the Chinese showing the way. The list can go on and on.

CPEC worth $62 billion is a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative. Besides energy, infrastructure, transport and Gwadar Port development, the most important component of CPEC is the development of the industrial zones, nine of which have been prioritised. These industrial zones also called special economic zones (SEZs) will house the thousands of Chinese industries and enterprises which are planning to relocate to Pakistan.

Since fiscal year 2013-2014, China’s direct investment in Pakistan has been at the top among all the foreign countries, for three consecutive years. Chinese total investment in Pakistan has reached more than $5.4 billion, making it the largest investment destination in South Asia. The hype on the CPEC is justified as long as the necessary spade work on the various details of operational, technical, administrative, fiscal, security and institutional coordination aspects are addressed.

There is a great possibility for a quantum leap in Chinese investment with the relocation of Chinese industrial enterprises to the proposed ‘Special Economic Zones’ all along the routes of CPEC. The success of CPEC investments along with reforms will transform Pakistan’s economy like never before.

Pakistanis are used to present others with surprises, whether on cricket grounds, battlefields or in geostrategic games, but the CPEC has surprised all Pakistanis. A lot of Pakistan’s intellectual elite do not know frankly as to how to react. It is obvious that for a country which has been in ‘Intensive Care Ward’ of the international financial institutions (IFIs), struggling with a billion or two of FDI, to be offered the prospects of inflow of $62 billion (still evolving), is beyond imagination. Even more difficult to comprehend, is the fact that $20 billion of Early Harvest Power Projects are already nearing completion. It is apparent that Pakistan is fast catching up with the ‘Chinese speed of growth’.

Not only China, but Russia, Central Asia, Afghanistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Europe and Africa are finding the CPEC as an ‘economic bonanza’ opening up ‘new growth points’ for wealth generation, in a recession-prone global economy. No wonder there is growing interest in CPEC.

However, for ensuring the full success of CPEC, there is need for adoption of an ‘Enabling Policy of Comprehensive Reforms’, in consultation with the private sector and ‘Overseas Pakistanis’ to ignite ‘Chain Reaction’ for Pakistan’s industrial potential. In this respect, Pakistan could emulate the success of China in mobilising the overseas Chinese.

The comprehensive reforms could cover good governance, agriculture, industry, energy, taxation, SEZs, SMEs, civil service, electoral, land, labour, administrative structure, higher education, foreign trade, maritime, higher education, health, environment, social sector and community development, rural industrialisation, rural credit market and banking coverage.

The resultant consequences of inaction and lethargy to enact policy reforms have been a low rate of domestic savings, tax collection, FDI and low fixed capital investment, low factor productivity, poor innovation, low level of exports, poor innovation, backward vocational and technical skills level, widespread destruction of the cottage industry and decimation of the SMEs etc. Similarly, there is an urgent need for micro-level research in universities and think tanks, on the sector wise impact of CPEC on local industry (terms of trade), environment and society.

Pakistan also needs to strengthen the professional and institutional capacities of its private and public sectors in order to fully harness the openness of the Chinese market by promoting its exports, provide a level playing field to Chinese investments, promote interoperability with China’s private sector, benefit from China’s outgoing tourism boom by mutual relaxation of visas and develop the full potential of the border land route.

Those capacities will need to be created, which the ‘Macaulay’s system of education’ has not allowed to be developed in the colonial slave societies. The most important of these is the capacity to think, research and innovate. There is also the need for revival of Pakistani social capital, our age old soft power values and work ethics to enhance the ‘Total Factor Productivity’, learning from Global Best Practices and success stories including China.

CPEC is a means to an end which ultimately is the economic take off of Pakistan. CPEC will become only ‘supply side economics’ without policy reforms, and will be unable to trigger the ‘economic take off’. There is an absence of ‘soft infrastructure’, which increases the cost of doing business. It is important that Pakistan’s think tanks, research bodies and policy-making institutions begin in earnest, identifying, conceptualising and drafting a series of ‘policy reform packages’ in every sector of society and economy, for submission to the parliament for priority enactment and executive agencies for speedy implementation.

If it does not, without timely wide-ranging comprehensive policy reforms, CPEC could develop into a debt trap. Time is of essence to avoid subsequent anarchy and chaos which can mutate into a ‘colour revolution’ of sorts. Precious time has been already lost. There exists now only a narrow time space between 2017-2020 to conceptualise, enact and implement the first phase of policy reforms, in order to realise the full potential of the economy. Those holding back reforms are in fact aiding Pakistan’s return to the IMF with unpredictable consequences.

Once, China’s Premier Zhou Enlai was asked about his views on the ‘French Revolution’. He responded by saying that it was ‘too early to comment’. Pakistan is among the best blessed and placed societies in the world. Pakistan only needs to develop a sound political system through wide-ranging electoral reforms, creating a filtering mechanism to ensure integrity, merit, rule of law and justice.

Pakistan has the potential to emulate China’s success in less than two decades, if it can adopt wide-ranging policies and reforms under a collective leadership. The CPEC puts Pakistan at the ‘epicentre’ of a historic global transformation. Pakistan, however, needs a reformer, statesman and visionary like Deng Xiaoping, Lee Kuan Yew or Mahatir Mohammad, to make it happen. The 200 million people of Pakistan must have them.

The Ever Burgeoning Ghost Enterprises Of Pakiland

CDA Has 2000 ‘Ghost Employees’ Withdrawing Paychecks
Recently, the officials of Capital Development Authority (CDA) revealed that more than 2,000 ‘ghost’ employees are working in the department.
The claim was made by the officials while talking to a local news channel. The officials said that only 11,000 out of 13,000 employees provided their details upon request. The administration’s member Yasir Pirzada said, “We have now decided to stop the salaries of those who did not submit their details.”
He said that the department will also conduct a physical audit of all the working employees to minimize the irregularities even further. Pakistan, where government employment is historically considered to be an "easy and lucrative means of income " without doing any work of any sort . Off and on, the media prints "sensational" stories about ghost schools, ghost teachers, ghost (govt) benefit collectors, so this Isloo entity joins the list . IMO, all you need to free drink at this public trough is a strong enough "sifarish" which will get you on the list or some friends or relatives "working on the inside" . Of course, the "mandatory commission" is deducted from your (unearned) salary
In the identification process, that was started a few months ago, CDA is also implementing the bio-metric attendance system in all of its branches. Make sure that the contract is given to a Pure Paki Firm and not to an Indian Company based in Dubai
Accordingly, the D.G Administration CDA has circulated a letter to all wings of the Authority directing the employees, that are fulfilling their job responsibilities, to enroll themselves in the biometric attendance system to avoid any problem in the future. He commanded  all the employees to bring their CDA office cards, copies of CNIC, and latest pay slips to the office so that they can be enrolled into the system. Maybe, the physical audit will reveal other juicy details, but what is the sense of locking the barn door if the Paki horse donkey has already escaped !
Yasir Pirzada said: It is our responsibility to identify all ghost employees and I will leave no stone unturned in completing this process. What is the matter with Pirzada. Is he not getting his "usual cut" of the deal
He also revealed that the administration wing, for the first time, has also finalized an organizational chart for CDA which shows the relationships of the positions or jobs within it.
It will take a very long long time, before "all this garbage" from the Paki Government System is cleansed out and there is "no odour" of corruption in the Paki Corridors of Power. The Ombudsman ( if there is such an animal in Pakiland !) should start his work with the Paki Fauj , where they have perfected the art and science of fictitious invoices , which the Pentagon auditors have mentioned in their recent reports.

18,677 Pakistanis deported this year
P'jitive baki shpin: 18,677 ex-pats return to the home country after whirlwind overseas fact finding tours. Valuable experience gained which will be invaluable to nation and will suarly add 2 points to GDP. Official reception and ticker tape parade soon.
At least 18,677 deportees were interviewed this year on their return to Pakistan, but details gleaned from them led to arrests of just 357 ‘agents’ involved in human trafficking
According to the ministry, whereabouts of 290 ‘agents’ involved in human trafficking remain unknown.
Over 266,000 Pakistanis deported from 133 countries in three years
Half a million Pakistanis deported since 2012
Job growth in travel business projected over the next decade if this trend persists.

US proposes pact to establish deportation procedure of Pakistani citizens
P'jitive baki shpin: Super Power US finally made to concede that Pakistani momeens deserve special treatment. Victory for baki diplomacy.
The United States has proposed that Pakistan formally sign an agreement aimed at establishing procedures to return Pakistani citizens who face deportation from the US.
The draft was recently handed over to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by US authorities, which has since forwarded copies to Inter-Services Intelligence, the Intelligence Bureau, and the Ministry of Interior for their comments “so that Pakistan could proceed further in negotiations”.
US laws provide that if an individual is ordered removed from the country but they do not have travel documents – which people facing deportation often deliberately ‘lose’ – the authorities cannot deport them back to their home country. The same applies if a person’s home country cannot be determined.
Simply put, it usually means ‘no passport – no deportation’.
It proposes a mechanism that DHS may forward any documents including valid or expired national passports, diplomatic passports, service passports, national identity cards, birth certificates, citizenship certificates, or emergency travel documents to Pakistani authorities as evidence to establish identity and Pakistani nationality of the person for the onward issuance of travel documents by Pakistan.
In response, the Ministry of Interior would issue travel documents for the individual within 30 days of the receipt of such requests.
Another identity check could be to ask the momeen to speak. If he/she speaks with the heavily caricatured pakjabi erdoo accent....

Imran Khan Is Not A Friend Of The Pakhtuns - PPP Leader

Imran Niazi failed to provide justice to Pakhtoons- Saeed Ghani
Islamabad, 10 December 2017: Imran Niazi has different masks in politics which he uses according to his needs. ( "liberal" mask plus taliban mask !) A person who forcibly converts other peoples’ religion in Sindh is now the face of PTI in Sindh.
This was said by PPP central leader Saeed Ghani in a statement issued by PPP Media Office Islamabad. He said that Imran Niazi leads timber mafia in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and has minted money by fake tree planting campaign. Parents of the martyrs of APS are demanding justice from Imran Niazi and Mishaal Khan’s killers including PTI Councilor are roaming free. The girl from Dera Ismail Khan is also crying for justice but PTI leader is acting deaf on their calls. Where the money for public gatherings of Imran Niazi is coming from? Saeed Ghani asked and concluded. Imran Khan has always maintained that "some cricket monies" has been withdrawn from his "UK Bank A/cs with the help of his ex-wife", so what is the fuss about

Capt Safdar, Ganja's Son-In-Law Of Ganja Sharif Hits Below The Belt Shalwar At Imran Khan. My Biradari Is Better Than Your Biradari

Niazi picked up arms for surrendering, says Captain Safdar
Captain (retd) Sadar, son-in-law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, said that he was a "Uniformed Captain" whereas PTI Chairman is a "Track Suit Captain". The PML-N leader said that he was an Awan and he picks up arms for fighting while Niazi picked up weapons for surrendering.
PS: Imran is from the Niazi (biradari), while Safdar belongs to the Awan (biradari -same as Zia !) Lt. Gen A.A. Niazi ( East Pakistan Surrender "fame" ) is from the same "family" as Immy Khan . Readers can read between the lines and draw their own conclusions

Even their so called elite analysts can't refrain from trotting out this meaningless bullshite.

"Human capital asset... blah....Population below 30...blah...eleven minerals...blah..world's second largest irrigation system.. blah...shale reserves..blah"

Yeah, if you agree that Pakistan's reality is a screaming jihadi population of increasingly malnourished and incestuous soosai bombing youth (human capital asset below 30) living in a badly managed ever expanding dustbowl (second largest irrigation system) atop minerals they don't have the skills to deploy (eleven minerals and shale reserves).

Bad Times Ahead For Imran Khan

Court rejects Imran Khan's plea to remove terrorism charges
ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court hearing cases against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan rejected his plea to remove terror related charges from the charge sheet.
Judge Shah Rukh Arjmand of ATC on Monday took up four cases including attack on PTV and parliament, violence against SSP Asmatullah Junejo and freeing workers from police station forcibly.
PTI chairman had filed the petition against inclusion of terror related clauses in cases against him. Terrorism related clauses be scrapped and case be sent to sessions judge as protesting for the sake of one's rights is not terrorism, he prayed. So, Ganja and his minions have still some "pull" in the Paki Court System :D
Khan's counsel Babar Awan argued that as per the police report workers of PTI and PAT, armed with batons, attacked the PTV and Parliament. Is attacking with batons terrorism, he asked. In Pakistan, the word "terrorism" is very loaded . This word has many masks (like Imran Khan !). It is selectively applied according to the "needs" of the Deep State . Groups and individuals fighting for freedom are accused of terrorism . On the other hand, terrorists are labelled as freedom fighters or non state actors ( according to needs !) Maulana Azhar of Jash and Hafiz Suar of LET come to mind
To this police prosecutor replied that the 2014 sit-in was an attempt to dislodge an elected government. Imran Khan incited his party workers to kill police officers and attack parliament, he said adding that solid evidence is available in this regard.Later, the court extended Imran Khan's bail till December 19 and directed him to appear before the court on next hearing. Imran, of course is a darling of the Deep State. With a sky-high ego, he will find a way - by hook or by crook, to avoid appearing before an "inferior" court

New York explosion an 'act of terror', suspect identified
NEW YORK: A man with a pipe bomb strapped to him set off the crude device in the subway near Times Square on Monday, injuring the suspect and three other people at the height of the morning rush hour.

The man and three others were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries in what the mayor and police labeled an attempted terror attack.

The explosion happened in an underground passageway under 42nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. The 7.30 am blast caused smoke to fill the passageway, which was crowded with throngs of Monday morning commuters.

Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner James P O'Neill labeled it an attempted terror attack.

"Thank God the perpetrator did not achieve his ultimate goals," de Blasio said.

The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Akayed Ullah.

Per the newspaper - He lives in Brooklyn and originally from Bangladesh
Ullah came to the United States from Bangladeshi with an immigrant visa on Feb. 21, 2011. He is a legal permanent resident with a green card.

A spokesman for the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission said he was a licensed cab driver from March 2012 to March 2015. More recently, he worked for an electrical company.

^^ Kasuri and Aiyar have a long history going back to Cambridge in the 60's..
Kasuri mentions that he with another Pakistani saw Aiyar at the Trinity Hall in Cambridge and approached to make him comfortable (Aiyar was new there). Aiyar sounds almost like besotted lover and said they had met once earlier to that occasion (He calls the same an historic occasion!!!!).

Have no doubt that Aiyar was turned around as a ISI asset either at Cambridge or during his posting at Karachi in the 70's.

If you watch Kasuri's interviews , his expression and tone when Mani Shankar Aiyar's name is mentioned is like Pakistan owns him.

Check the Puke worthy photo of the two together again in Cambridge:

The one common thing between most of the Indian attendees is that they are all ex-bureaucrats with ties to IFS/IAS. I have long suspected that Sonia and Co are just a front for a corrupt front of the babucracy that wants to wield power after installing someone clueless like sonia on the throne. If a moron like Rahul Gandhi becomes prime minister, do we really think the imbecile will actually take decisions on his own or if he will just rubber stamp decisions made by some unknown and unelected entities? Wikileaks already suggests that the joker does not know where India's interests lie when he interacts with foreign governments.

The list of old-school babus like TCA Raghavan and others seems to say that this is some sort of Indirect link the pakis have to the core bureaucracy in New Delhi, not to mention the PFI-supporting islamist Hamid Ansari and usually silent Madam Manmohan Singh (who seems have found the need to open his worthless mouth for something other than kissing the Nehru clan's butt). Mani Shankar and Prem Shankar Jha and everyone else in that list are old-time paki sympathizers, which extends to the rest of the attendees to this paki soiree.

Paki Abduls Complain Of "Chini Double Standards"

Pakistanis open hearts for Chinese while Beijing keeps its doors locked
By Dawood Rehman
With most lucrative and low-risk opportunities, Pakistan has just started to turn the global investors on. The South Asian country is keeping its door open to its brothers-in-business, the Chinese, and it is changing the face of the nation.
A growing number of Chinese nationals are coming to Pakistan in the wake of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).Roughly, more than 71,000 Chinese nationals visited Pakistan in 2016, and nearly 27,600 visa extensions were granted in that year, up by around 41 per cent from a year earlier. And, it is just the beginning! One more Pakistani showing his "excitement" about the game-changer CPEC
Despite all-weather friendly relations between the two countries which recently took a tandem flight of development under China’s Belt & Road initiative, Pakistanis don’t enjoy the same privilege in getting Chinese visa as easier as their northern neighbours do. Is he making a reference to Russia or Mongolia here
As Pakistanis are welcoming their neighbours with open hearts, a common notion prevails that the feelings are not mutual and the Chinese are only interested in exploiting Pakistan’s business potential to boost dwindling domestic growth while serving Beijing’s ambitious plans. Pakis are learning the hard way that there is no "free lunch"
A rising number of people in Pakistan’s business community are now voicing their concerns about visas for China becoming increasingly difficult to get. Moreover, even when they are granted, the validity period is seldom more than three months, and they are for single entry only. What are "trying" to sell the shrewd Chinese . More towels and textiles ![/quote]
“It felt like I was going to India, Pakistan’s arch-rival, with only one exception – Pakistanis are allowed to travel across the mainland China unlike in the eastern neighbour,” said Muhammad Mohsin, a chemicals trader from Lahore, recalling his first visit to China six years ago.
Regrettably, the situation hasn’t improved much and according to Mr Mohsin, getting a Chinese visa is still an uphill task for even those businessmen who have dealt with Chinese counterparts for last decade and have been frequent travelers, not to mention the long queues of Pakistani traders outside Chinese embassy. What are these "traders" going to China for . Tourists masquerading as "traders". Back -door entry, over the tall mountains to sample the Muslim Chini fare that awaits them there  !
“We have to wait for hours to get our documents processed. But the travel agents, who have made some kind of arrangement with embassy officials, could submit dozens of visa forms even on holidays at Chinese embassy or consulates,” Mr Mohsin told Daily Pakistan. No using complaining. If you want to play, you pay !!!According to bilateral arrangement, visa application is totally free for all Pakistanis, who are also welcome to the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad and Consulate General in Karachi to apply for visas by themselves with complete materials. But, currently first-time visitors to China are paying Rs120,000to Rs250,000 to travel agents while the regular visitor to China hands over Rs35,000-40,000 for smooth application processing. Against a hefty fee, the agents make all arrangements for the character certificate as well as an invitation from Chinese businesses. These "rules" are in existence for unwashed Abduls only . The elites of Pakiland face no such obstacles !
Still, Chinese nationals seeking business visas are required to present only an invitation from a recognised body at any of Pakistan’s missions in China. However, showing due diligence, in June, the interior ministry decided to discourage long-term visa extensions for Chinese citizens. And it is indeed getting in effect as Weirui Zheng, a Chinese working as a language teacher in Lahore, told Daily Pakistan that she has been waiting for last three months to get her visa extended. However, as Ms Zheng shared, it was pretty much easier for her to visit here and get her visa extended after refilling the form than most of her Pakistani friends who could only dream to visit China without any hassle. IMO, the world wide "special reputation of the Green Passport" must be something to do with this
Pakistani citizens are now demanding  Beijing should value its neigbours equally, especially those who intend to learn the culture and explore the Chinese markets. A relaxed and hassle-free visa processing would not only develop long-term ties between people of the two countries but also act as a bridge to reduce cultural differences. Pakistan is in position to "demand" anything. Beggars cannot be choosers

Terroristan - 29 September 2017

Post by Peregrine »

Is the Pak-US marriage of convenience heading towards a bitter divorce?

Pentagon’s spokesperson recently acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices stating that the country has lost most number of troops in the global war on terror. However, this acknowledgement contradicted the official position that the White House has maintained over the past few years, asking Islamabad to ‘do more’, whenever Pakistan came under any security policy discussion in Washington and elsewhere.

Pakistan, during US Secretary Defence James Mattis’s recent visit, has already made clear that Islamabad will no longer accept Washington’s redundant ‘do more’ mantra without evidence, and that proof of presence of terrorists in FATA should be shared before any finger pointing.

This change of attitude in Islamabad towards Washington was also evident when Pakistan’s Air Chief Marshall Sohail Aman recently threatened to shoot down drones that violated the country’s sovereignty. Previous ultimatums on drones by Pakistan, since 2004’s first strike, have meant little; however, with Pak-US ties on the verge of hitting rock bottom, it won’t come as a surprise if Pakistan finally shoots down a drone in the near future.

Pakistan believes that the US – with glaring failures in Afghanistan – has found in Islamabad a convenient scapegoat; whenever anything happens in Afghanistan, Pakistan is the only country blamed by both Washington and Kabul.

In response to these accusations, in November this year, DG ISPR, in a series of tweets, argued that Pakistan, even after doing its bit in the war on terror, was still a victim of security vacuum in neighbouring Afghanistan after two of its soldiers were killed in a cross border attack.

However, things are not as rosy as Pakistan might claim them to be in terms of its domestic security situation. Even with claims of eradication of terror camps and bases from FATA, the country has faced periodic terror attacks.

The recent attacks on the Agricultural Training Institute in Peshawar and IED attacks in North and South Waziristan suggest that a lot still needs to be done. Pakistan maintains that most of these attacks are planned in Afghanistan – orchestrated by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakisan (TTP) and its head Maulvi Fazlullah. Pakistan also believes that the US and Afghan forces are doing little to hunt and eliminate Fazlullah and his aides.

From what it seems, the Pak-US marriage of convenience is heading towards a bitter divorce, especially with new partners, China and Russia, in town. Even though China solidified its interest in Pakistan with its China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), under its flagship One Belt, One Road initiative (OBOR), Russian interests are more strategic in nature.

Moscow fears that a growing threat of the Islamic State (IS) in Afghanistan might end up spilling over to Central Asia, and ultimately present a challenge in its own backyard. Therefore, Russia sees the Taliban as means to counter the IS in Afghanistan.

Russia has also made recent efforts in this regard, especially by organising the Moscow summit in April this year, attended by senior diplomats from Afghanistan, China, India, Iran, Pakistan and ex-Soviet Central Asian. The aim of this summit was to support the Afghan government in finding a long-term peaceful settlement of the Afghan war.

Pakistan’s regional policy syncs, in some way, to that of Russia, such that both want inclusion of the Afghan Taliban in the long-term reconciliation process. However, both the US and India are opposed to this idea, leading to a low-key participation from both these countries in Russia and China-led Afghan peace initiatives.

With new regional players and geo-strategic dynamics, Pakistan, for once, can afford to go on an equal footing with the US and confidently respond to allegations that carry little weight or substance. Additionally, with the lure of Coalition Support Fund (CSF) already thrown out of the window, Islamabad’s financial reliance on Washington is declining, hence making it easier to fend off unrealistic demands from the White House.

Furthermore, Pakistan is now in a situation – with peace more or less achieved in FATA – to act as a self-respecting nation and not only refuse financial support offered by the US (which results in demands of ‘do more’), but also address regional and global security concerns. Only after doing so, would Pakistan ensure its territorial sovereignty, and in response, convey to Washington that it’s superfluous narrative of ‘do more’ has lost its utility.

Finally, Pakistan also needs to learn from its past mistakes committed during its alliance with the US. Islamabad needs to address Russo-Chinese security concerns vis-à-vis Islamabad’s past support of ‘some’ banned groups, or else, the country might end up facing similar demands from its new allies.

India ‘refuses’ to host Asia Cup 2018 over Pakistan’s participation
MUMBAI – India has reportedly refused to host one of the biggest cricket events, Asia Cup 2018, reports in the country’s media said on Monday.
The tournament is supposed to be held in September next year, but the freeze on sporting ties with Pakistan seems to be getting worse by the day due to tense relations between the neighbouring countries. Better safe than sorry ! It is better not to raise high expectation and then find out later that the event cannot be held because of government "non permission"
The decision by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was made because of the reluctance to host Pakistan and was taken during the board’s Governing Body meeting. The BCCI has informed the Asian Cricket Council of its decision, which is yet to be confirmed by the latter. So, does this mean that Pakistan Cricket Board will increase the " India Suing Amount" from $ 70 Million US to $ 100 Million US
The Asian Cricket Council, in a statement, said Bangladesh, Sri Lanka will be alternative options if it is confirmed that India has refused to host the event.
The last bilateral series between the two cricketing-giants was played in 2013 in India featuring three ODIS and two T20Is. India also lost hosting the Under-19 Asia Cup over the country’s reluctance to host Pakistan’s junior side.
Last month, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) filed a dispute with the ICC, claiming up to $70 million ...
The PCB sent a legal notice to ICC to set up a Dispute Resolution Committee for adjudicating the matter of Indian cricket board not honouring its promise of playing bilateral series with Pakistan. :D

Lack of safety measures, six workers electrocuted in 24 hours
Six labourers were electrocuted during work at an under-construction site near Sundar bus stop early Monday. Rescue workers said three of them died on the spot while the other victims were shifted to Jinnah hospital in critical condition. The tragedy took place near Maraka bus stop on the Multan road. The labourers were trying to fix shuttering on the roof of an under construction plaza when iron rods touched the high voltage wires. As a result, they received severe electric shocks and three of the six victims expired instantly. The deaths of three poor workers in Sundar comes just hours after three workers died in a similar incident in Lahore's DHA phase VIII. These back to back deadly incidents raise questions over safety measures for poor workers. Thank God, that these accidents are not CPEC related . IMO, any CPEC related industrial accidents will likely not see the light of day thanks to PEMRA.
A rescue worker said the bodies were badly burnt because of severe electric shocks involving high voltage wires. The bodies were removed from the site after the Lesco suspended electric supply to the locality. At least "some Abdul" had the foresight to do the same !
Authority did not launch any inquiry into both the incidents in which at least six workers were electrocuted within 24 hours. Even with an inquiry, would the victims' families be adequately compensated, if it was concluded that the accidents occurred because of lack of safety measures and / or training

"Namak- Haram" Pakistan Shamelessly Accepts $ 23 Million In Police Gear Equipment From Massa

US embassy provides over $23 mn to Pakistan police in protective gear
ISLAMABAD:US Embassy’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) Section has provided nine Pakistani police organizations more than $23 million between June and September in protective gear. The state-of-the-art, lightweight protective gear that includes 30,500 bulletproof vests and more than 27,000 ballistic helmets has been provided to protect police officers as they fight terrorism and crime, said a statement issued here. The police agencies include all four provincial police departments; Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Frontier Constabulary; Federally Administered Tribal Areas Levies; the National Highways and Motorway Police and the National Police Academy. Sincerely hope that this equipment is used for its intended purpose and is not either diverted to Kashmir border or given to "non- state actors" for anti- India operations
This assistance now brings the total number of protective gear assistance since 2009 to more than 53,000 bulletproof vests and almost 47,000 ballistic helmets.INL Director Gregory Schiffer said that the Pakistani Police make sacrifices every day to carry out their duties and to keep their communities safe.“Both in the United States and Pakistan , we depend on our police to protect our people, and we will continue to stand together with the people of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism and the commitment to stability and justice in Pakistan”, he added. Whatever happened to Minister Khawaja Asif's recent statement that Pakistan does not want "aid" for USA but just "understanding" . In light of this, appears to be a hollow statement
Bulletproof vests and helmets are critical in improving police operational capacity and saving officers’ lives as they respond to threats from heavily armed groups, including terrorists, militants, and narco-traffickers.Across Pakistan , police officers are often targeted by criminal and terrorist groups. According to the National Police Bureau, more than 6,000 police have been killed in the line of duty in Pakistan in the last 15 years. Before the equipment is distributed, the ISI should check the same for sensors, embedded electronic bugs and other spy gizmos which can transmit back "sensitive Paki secrets" to Langley, Virginia or the fortress like US Embassy in Isloo

Ganja's Son-In-Law Opens Inning Against PTI's Imran Khan :D

Imran your umpire is retired now : Capt Safdar (Retd)
ISLAMABAD: PML-N central leader Capt (Rtd) Safdar has said Imran Khan should forget he will come into power as his umpire has been retired.
“Imran Khan should forget that he will come to power because his umpire has been retired. He has caused harm to the country and he will have to render his account to the nation”, he said this while talking to media today on the occasion of his appearance in accountability court in Al-Azizia reference.
He said Imran Khan is taking the courts lightly as he thinks courts and election commissioner are subordinate to him. There is no love lost between the Ganja family and Imran Khan
Replying to a query he said, "who is the third umpire of Imran Khan?. His third umpire has been retired and has grown old." All should appear before the courts, he added.Imran Khan calls himself captain. I am real uniformed captain while Imran is kit captain. I have safeguarded the borders while Imran Khan has spent life of enjoyment. Typical Paki boasting. Hard to tell
He underlined that Supreme Court decision on disqualification of Nawaz Sharif is highly unjust. The person who was disqualified had overcome crisis far earlier. Nawaz Sharif is in the politics and no one can oust politicians from politics. The precious time of the nation has been wasted due to cases against Nawaz Sharif. The son-in-law is most unlikely to be privy to all the shenanigans of the inner Ganja circle, but as they say - blood is thicker than water . Family first

Due To "Financial Difficulties" Idea Being Floated For CPEC Bonds

Govt suggested to launch CPEC bonds
ISLAMABAD: After the successful auctioning of Sukuk bonds , The United Business Group (UBG) of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) suggested the government to launch China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) bonds to overcome financial difficulties.
Lauding the government for the successful auction of bonds worth $2.5 billion without being under International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, the UBG said that the issuance of these bonds would help government, however these would not resolve the financial difficulties on the back of falling exports and increasing imports, said a top officials of the group in a statement issued here. Will the CPEC Bonds be backed by only "the solemn word of the Paki Govt " or will the multiple mortgaged national assets like roadways, tollways, airports, seaports, government buildings will be once again be put as security . No sane lender would touch these multiple -charged collateral assets with a 10 ft pole. They would be lucky if they can get anything out of it. The Chinis have FIRST CHARGE on Pakistan
“The government needed at least ten billion dollars to tackle the situation for which it could consider issuing CPEC bonds , Naseemur Rehman, a central leader of the UBG said.
CPEC was one of the greatest projects of the history of mankind  therefore many individuals and companies would prefer to invest in CPEC bonds , he added. Were the Chinis invited to this "brainstorming session". After all, they would have something to say in the matter
He was of the view that the successful move spoke volumes about the increasing confidence of the foreign investors in the Pakistani economy. He said that railways infrastructure was also being improved under the economic corridor, therefore, the government could also issue railway bonds and offer tax breaks to lure investors. As they say, "talk is cheap" !!!. And there is no free lunch !!!

JEM Secretly Meets In POK Amidst Pledges To Do Terror

Jaish-e-Mohammed Pledges To Step Up Terror Against India, US In Secret Conclave
The Jaish-e-Mohammed, a group founded by UN-designated terrorist Masood Azhar, recently organised a 'Shohada-e-Kashmir' conference in Rawalakot to commemorate the martyrdom of several terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama.
Three militants of JeM - identified as Talha Rasheed (nephew of Maulana Masood Azhar), Bhai Mohammad and Bilal - were killed in the encounter by the Indian security forces on November 6 in Pulwama. The secret conclave was attended by Maulana Talha Saif, younger brother of Maulana Masood Azhar, Maulana Mufti Asghar Khan, Amir JeM, PoK, Mukhtar, father of Bhai Muhammad, one of the killed militants, and many others.Over a thousand JeM cadres attended the event in which slogans against India and the United States were raised.

Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram seen with Taliban leader !
New Delhi: Troubles don’t seem to end for the Congress. A massive controversy has erupted after former finance minister P Chidambaram's image with a Taliban leader surfaced on Monday.
The senior Congress leader was photographed sitting in the room where Taliban leader Mullah Abdul Zaeef was also present, raising a doubt whether Chidambaram met and had a conversation with the Taliban leader. The photograph was captured in 2013 when P Chidambaram was the Union Finance Minister.
Zaeef, a confidant of Mullah Omar who had headed the Taliban government in Afghanistan till 2001 before the US invasion, attended the Think Fest in Goa. The BJP has questioned the senior Congress leader as to why he did not leave the venue immediately when he realised the Taliban leader was present there.
Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday stated that it was “suspicious” that Pakistan released a statement after Prime Minister Narendra Modi questioned former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and suspended Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar for meeting with Pakistan High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood.
The BJP's retort came in response to Pakistan's response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where Pakistan's Foreign Office asked that they be kept out of India's electoral debates. Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised doubts over Pakistan’s interference in the state assembly elections in Gujarat.
“Pakistan’s Foreign Office has released a very curious statement today. They stated that Indians must fight elections on their own. India's Prime Minister is a popularly elected leader. Pakistan should stop giving us lessons. We completely abhor any outside interference in India’s electoral affairs,” Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said while addressing the media. Pakistan is a "in name only" "democracy" due to the punitive Kerry-Lugar Act

There is a political dimension to why CPEC may be raising the antagonism between Pak Army and Nawaz Sharif/PML-N to a whole new level. The underlying notion is that CPEC will work its magic and bring economic development to all parts of Pakistan. This might loose most of you right off the bat, but humor me for a moment. The development I am talking about does not need to be sustainable in the long term, it only needs to be visible in the short term and should be spread across regions where PML-N does not currently have a political base. If that happens, that will be a political break-out moment for Nawaz and permit him an agenda to expand his political coalition far beyond it's current limiting factors. All of this is hugely threatening to the Pak Army - last time any politician had pan-Pak stature was when Zulfikar Bhutto came to power post 71 riding a wave of revulsion against governance by the Army. And look where he ended up. So Nawaz had to go, and PML-N cannot at any cost be allowed to expand its political base via an economic development platform. If it means introducing terrorist elements into the political mainstream to stop PML-N, then so be it.

Let me illustrate the dynamics of political coalition building and an economic development plank with an example in India - to wit, the current political contest in Gujarat. A detailed background to the current contest is necessary, but bear with me because I will use this to explain the political dynamic and Pak Army imperatives in ensuring that PML-N does not gain politically by embracing what would be a game-changing (for Pakistan) political plank.

Gujarat, right now, is going through a classic example of an interregnum. The governing political dynamic in Gujarat, in the last three decades, has been the anti-KHAM backlash. It began with the anti-reservation movement that coalesced a Bhramin-Vania-Patel coalition under the leadership of a Patidar (Patel) core. It was a popular backlash, and championed into a political cause by Keshubhai Patel of BJP. But this was not enough in itself to totally undermine the KHAM coalition - Keshukaka, as he is fondly known, wobbled in and out of power, and in late 2001/2002, just before Godhra, a caretaker CM named Modi was named to help organize a precariously perched BJP political coalition for the next election. If Godhra had not happened, Modi might still be a regional leader shuttling in and out of power. Instead, the anti-Muslim backlash that followed Godhra splintered KHAM, and gave Modi a governing agenda that not only dovetailed seamlessly with the interests Patel core, but also permitted him to expand to other Hindu constituencies. So powerful was this that it helped him fend off a powerful internal challenge from uncontested Patidar leader Keshubhai. Notably, the Patidars stayed with Modi even when Keshukaka and Modi had a political falling out. For this support, Patels garnered the political rewards in the decade to come when Modi leveraged the economic development plank to grow his own political base beyond the High-Caste coalition with the Patidar core that he inherited. This is what Nawaz is trying to do right now, but of course, Pakistan is not Gujarat and Nawaz is no Modi.

Getting back to the Modi political plank narrative - when he moved to become PM, the interregnum started. Gujarat BJP faced an existential crisis - what was the new agenda for governance, and who would lead BJP through it? They had about 3 years to come up with a solution, and were not able to do so. A big part of this was the civil war within BJP - the Patidar core had reaped unprecedented benefits in the Modi years for supporting him, and a faction within this Patidar community wanted more. Hardik Patel became the standard bearer for this faction by seizing the politically emotive issue of reservations. But all this time, a backlash has been building among the old KHAM constituencies against the growing power of Patels. The two other leaders that have come to prominence lately - Alpesh Thakore and Jignesh Mawani - are OBC and Dalit leaders, and in a sense the HAJ group (Hardik-Alpesh-Jignesh) make for uneasy and unnatural bedfellows. Adding to BJP troubles is that Modi took the development/good governance plank with him to the center. If a successor continues with good governance, how much credit will s(he) get? If new Gujarat-specific development initiatives are championed and executed under BJP leadership, who gets the credit? Gujarat's favorite son in Delhi, or some faceless local nominee/figurehead of the political machine back home? Again, relate this to CPEC and Pak politics. If early harvest projects kick off and there is visible development activity, who gets the credit?

So there were powerful undercurrents in the upcoming Gujarat elections, and Congress needed to take some very basic steps to capitalize on them: firstly, and most importantly, recognize that the undercurrents were powerful because of Gujarat-specific dynamics, and secondly, exploit the struggle for succession within BJP to splinter the Patidar core at the heart of the BJP coalition. The ideal strategy for Congress, to my mind, would have been to (a) nominate a local leader who could revitalize KHAM and present a credible alternative to wrest the pro-development, good governance plank away from BJP, (b) recognize that Hardik Patel is political kryptonite and support him from afar while he and BJP destroy each other. They had two strong candidates for (a): Shankersinh Vaghela and Bharatsinh Solanki both fit the bill. While neither is in Modi's league, Vaghela has RSS/ex-CM cred and Solanki is the Akhilesh Yadav equivalent of Gujarat Pradesh Cong-I. Vaghela, to my mind, would have been deadly for BJP. But he is not a family loyalist, and the first big eff up that Congress did was to make the Rajya Sabha elections a choice between him and Ahmad Patel. That was sheer stupidity to let Shankarsinh contest an RS seat in the first place - he still has a real base and is far more useful to Congress in Gujarat than out of it. But Cong decided to go with family loyalist Ahmad Patel instead, and Vaghela was cast out in the cold. There is a parallel to the Pak situation and I need to make this after saying that I have the utmost respect for Shankarsinh Vaghela ji, and this analogy is merely about political strategy and is not intended to equate him with Paki politicians in any way. Think of it this way - Pak Army is threatened by Nawaz, and needs to prop up a politician to counter Nawaz. Should they choose Imran-TPP/JUD fundos or PPP? If political base and institutional heft is the only consideration, PPP is the natural choice. But PPP is not blindly loyal and pliable like the other alternatives, and so PPP will never be chosen in a political coalition set up by Pak Army. Same to same with Shankarsinh and Gandhi family, go it?

And now we come to political kryptonite - Hardik Patel in Gujarat, Khadim Hussain Rizwi in Pakistan. Again, to make absolutely clear, I seek to draw no moral equivalence here, the analogy is only to show how they have become standard bearers of emotive political issues. The truth of the matter is that Hardikbhai is a very polarizing figure, with a single issue political plank - to get reservations for Patidars. He is symptomatic of the political struggle for power, and his plank represents dangerous political overreach which will only lead to diminution of political power of the Patidar community. This is where the analogy with Pak breaks down totally, because very unlike the Pakistan case, there is explicit and overt recognition in significant sections of the Patidar community itself that Hardik's cause is politically untenable and will in the long term lead to hardening of opposition against the political overreach it represents. Handled carefully, Hardik is a powerful force who can serve Congress's purpose of splintering the Patidar community and breaking the current governing coalition. He was on his way to doing that anyway, but Congress went for more in coopting him as closely as it has. Congress has come to the cynical conclusion that Muslims do not matter as a political block anymore, in Gujarat and nationally. In the Gujarat context, Patels represent the most unequivocally Hindutva friendly political block. If Congress wants to signal that it too wants to play the soft Hindutva card, who better than the Patidar block to replace KHAM with KHAP? Now that would be a winning combination, except for one problem. The KHA part goes with the M part nicely - this should be no surprise to anyone with passing familiarity to politics in other KHAM areas like UP and Bihar (what, you thought only Gujjus had this figured out? Shame on you!) However, KHA mixes with P like oil and water - remember the anti-reservation riots of the 80s and 90s that were spearheaded by Patels, anyone? And oh, by the way. Every time there was an anti-reservation riot, it somehow mutated into a Hindu-Muslim riot. Every frickin time. Coincidence? or M coming to the aid of KHA?

So the Congress is taking a huge political gamble by embracing Hardik Patel so closely. But I am inclined to think that they have not factored in the trade-offs - if Hardik is supported to the hilt, it undermines the other two rather natural allies of Congress (Jignesh Mawani and Alpesh Thankore). And of course, totally alienates the Muslims. In fact, it does more than that. Do you know why BJP has not been able to get traction with Muslim and Dalit voters in Gujarat? Not because of Maut-Ka-Saudagar Modi! It is because Muslims know that at its core Gujarat BJP is dominated by Patels. Same applies to Dalits. Now, through its awkward attempt to embrace one Patidar cause, Congress risks effacing the perception that the BJP agenda is controlled by Patels who are unequivocally anti-Muslim and have misalignment of interests with Dalits. This will significantly lower the unacceptability barrier for BJP among these communities, in Gujarat today and India tomorrow. And this dynamic perfectly illustrates the limitations of caste based politics in India going forward - if there is balance of power among different communities, if no one group can dominate unilaterally, then issues other that caste suddenly become determinative of political success. Economic development can only be used as a plank if all other competing interests can balance each other out. Ultimately, that is why Gujarat/India is such dynamic and vibrant society - because in balancing each other out, different interest groups have to learn to find common ground, and economic development is a universal aspiration. Modi became one of a kind leader because he recognized this, but he could become what he is only in India. In Pakistan, none of this is possible because there is no balance of power. Nawaz may be no angel, but he tried to expand his political base with something new and audacious. It will not work, in the main, because success for PML-N is against the interest of the dominant power, in a political environment that is so unbalanced as to not permit anything to change the single-direction trajectory Pakistan is on.

Since I have talked so much about Gujarat, let me wrap up. Congress made another huge error beyond what I have already talked about - it failed to recognize that the headwinds BJP is experiencing in Gujarat are due to Gujarat-specific issues. This was too good an opportunity to pass up to further glorify half-wit Pappu, so the election suddenly became (a) a testament to glorious leader Pappu's astute vision, and (b) a referendum against Modi's developmental agenda! The first thing this did is drag Modi back to Gujarat, and that is not a good idea. Honestly, they would have been better off letting him distance himself from Gujarat's current political situation. Instead, they laid out a welcome mat for the lion to combe back to his favorite hunting ground. Related to this, morons with an overinflated sense of self-importance like Arundhatti Roy and AAP, and fundamentalist muslim organizations like PFF jumped on the bandwagon to support local leaders like Jignesh Mawni. This is like a kiss of death in Gujarat, for heaven's sake! If Congress had played it's cards right, it would have kept this limited to Gujarat, run by local Congress leaders, and sticking to the trusty KHAM playbook. Beyond that, they would not need to do a thing - Gujarat is undoubtedly experiencing economic doldrums related to the larger Indian economy but that is fleeting and economic development and good governance are now the agenda du jour for the entire country. So that plank was ready and waiting for appropriation from a local BJP that is still in the throes of transition and currently held accountable for the passing economic slowdown. But instead, Congress made costly unforced errors because the interests of Pradesh Congress are different from those of the Gandhis, and consequently might actually snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. My prediction - BJP retains Gujarat, 100+ seats. If the backlash against these missteps is strong enough, and enough Patidar base remains with BJP, exceeding 120 is a distinct possibility. If Muslims and Dalits develop a backlash against Congress, 150+ can happen. Meanwhile, across the border, understand that the drama is setting the stage for the 2018 elections over there. A lot of explosive developments between now and then are projected.

Sreemoy Talukdar has it right on both counts.

Our PM Narendra Modi's “charge of Pakistani interference in Gujarat election is little more than political gamesmanship aimed at putting the Congress under pressure” and to me very much more significant and disappointing is Talukdar’s charge that our former PM Manmohan Singh “has shown poor judgement on several counts in attending a Track 2 diplomatic effort at the residence of Aiyar, an individual who sees himself as a supra-Constitutional figure above all arms of the state”, is true:

Manmohan Singh's objections are unjust; he has shown poor judgement in attending dinner meeting with Pakistan officials

There is a simpler explanation for the Paki army to try and control the political end of the rentier state by introducing the likes of terrorists like Hafiz Saeed and his Lashkhar-e-toiba as a poltiical entity, which requires sidelining conventional political parties like PML(N).

The paki army seems to have fewer avenues to seek rent than it had in the past, given pakistan's basketcase economy getting more basket-case-er. The chinese also being far stingier with their purse strings than the american bozos who just handed a load of money to the pakis, and the pakis were adept enough to fudge the books and swallow all the development funds.

There is just not enough money to be looted these days, as the americans have reduced their aid, and the Chinese are not actually providing cash but only providing services. By making the LeT as apolitical party, all rent seeking by the pakistani "elected government" can directly fund the kashmir jihad -- in effect any monies given for aid can be coopted by the "government" run by the likes of LeT. There is no more need to fudge to books or indulge in complicated fudging to steal funds.

Don't see why Gujarat is related to the pakis at all. The morons in the congress party have only one playbook involving caste divisions, and providing freebies, and whether that works or not this time is to be seen. Hobnobbing with the pakis out in the open just before gujarat elections is not helping them either.

Pak army is on front promoting CPEC. They can merrily claim any success of cpec and pass any failure to politicians. They are unofficial guarantor and now china want them to be official. Pakistani abduls know that any damn geo strategic relation with india, china, usa are maintained by army and army only, be it economic or military. Pak politicians are seen no more than local municipal leaders.

It seems like pak gov and army are playing good guy bad guy with china. May be they realized this and now want to deal only and only with one guy. This is get out card for politicians and going to make the army uncomfortable.

Pakistan does not have the capability to interfere in India's election, not least because the INC is approaching zero politically in Gujarat, if not the rest of India. So it is clear that this is just political rhetoric on all sides, not that it excuses the behavior of MMS, Mani Shankar Aitar and the rest of the babu tools who partied with Kasuri and co. Manmohan singh should go fornicate himself and leave Indians alone -- maybe go fetch Rahul's tea and slippers while he is at it.

Methinks the former Prime Minister doth protest too much.

As a former holder of the Constitutional Office of Prime Minister, Dr . Manmohan Singh should not have tarnished the office by attending a meeting where a representative of the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan, namely their Ambassador was present, particularly when it is our Countries National Policy not to engage in talks with the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan till a complete cessation of cross border terrorism.

OTOH if Dr Manmohan Singh fraternised with individuals from the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan in his personal capacity, he should spare us the guff about Constitutional Office being tarnished.

Bottom line to me is that if any “tarnishing” has been done it is primarily by our former PM Dr Manmohan Singh’s conduct:

Manmohan Singh to PM Modi: Show more maturity, stop tarnishing every Constitutional office
