Question is whether they are modern firearms or 'country made'. If they are Glocks, Ak-47s or Steyrs, we have a problem.Manish_P wrote:Huge arms haul in Nashik: 25 rifles, 19 revolvers,1 machine gun seized
Acting on a tip-off, the Nashik rural police seized a large quantity of arms near Chandwad toll naka on Agra-Mumbai highway and arrested three men on Friday morning. The seizure includes 25 rifles, one machine gun, 19 revolvers and 4,166 live cartridges.
The is the largest arms seizure in Maharashtra since the arms haul in Aurangabad in 2006.
The police were alerted by a local petrol pump owner after the three accused stopped at the pump to fill fuel in their vehicle (MH-01/SA 7460). The three arrested have been identified as Nagesh Bansode, 23, a resident of Wadala in Nashik, and two Mumbai residents, Salman Ammanulla Khan, 19, and Badrinujam Badshah alias Sumit, 27, both of whom live in Sewri.
Re: Internal Security Watch
I think 'country made' machine guns are still a a rarity in India. And do the blacksmiths actually make 'rifles'? Because my understanding is that it is tough to make the rifling ridges in a barrel without complex tools. So it is generally country made shot guns or revolvers.Cosmo_R wrote:Question is whether they are modern firearms or 'country made'. If they are Glocks, Ak-47s or Steyrs, we have a problem.

Such a large cache of guns and ammo is a problem anyway... but i get your pointCosmo_R wrote:Question is whether they are modern firearms or 'country made'. If they are Glocks, Ak-47s or Steyrs, we have a problem.
The rifles appear to be local. No word yet on the machine gun but it probably might be an AK or an SLR
Here is the image
No mention of the 'machine gun' in this article... nor is it visible in the image (where it would have had pride of place). Mostly local hunting rifles and shotguns
Re: Internal Security Watch
With rising education and availability of tutorials on youtube and cheap second hand lathe machines, illegal guns are getting more and more sophisticated by the day. Rifles are still hard to make, not because of rifling, but because of barrel blanks. Pistols on the other hand can be made from commercially available raw material. Any grade 5 or higher large sized bolt (4" or longer) makes for good pistol barrel. High tensile strength and rigidity.Sachin wrote:I think 'country made' machine guns are still a a rarity in India. This is a batch of pistols made in MP caught by Delhi police. Hardly crude.

IS Connection, NIA takes over the case (Mathrubhumi Malayalam)
The Kerala Police had arrested 5 people who were working as 'preachers/recruiters' for IS. One among them was a cook, who worked in Middle East for quite some time. The NIA, IB & RAW had interrogated them, after the Kannur Dy.SP had arrested them. NIA had busted a similar gang in Northern India, and from there identified that both gangs had some common members. Incidentally many ISIS sympathisers happen to be from Kannur and adjoining districts (Northern Kerala), which is also a strong hold of communist parties, and the CM himself being from this district.

The reason for the blackish and poisonous waters flowing into India's Assam via the Brahmaputra River from china

Satellite photo of China blocking Brahmaputra river
China blocks Brahmaputra completely | Vinayak Bhat
Latest satellite imagery shows the river Brahmaputra disappearing into a 900 m underground tunnel in China.
In what is perhaps the first evidence of a possible diversion project by China, latest satellite imagery shows a massive new dam on the Brahmaputra river — Yarlong Tsangpo in Tibetan — with an underground tunnel that seems to engulf the entire water flow for almost one kilometre.
The Brahmaputra is sacred to Indians and Tibetans alike and has its origins in the Angsi Glacier in Purang county of Tibet. It has been in the news for water reportedly turning black on the Indian side and in connection with Chinese plans to divert it to the arid lands of the Taklamakan desert.
Although the Indian government has said that there is no evidence of any water diversion project, satellite imagery from 26 November 2017, courtesy US commercial vendor of space imagery DigitalGlobe, indicates a new project in an advanced stage. This report – based on latest satellite images — examines only the actual ground position. Measurements are made on very low resolution images and may not be exact.
NEW PROJECT
The available images show a new 200 m wide dam that seems to have completely blocked the water of the Brahmaputra. The entire river seems to be forced into two inlets of almost 50 m width each towards the west of the river. The water flow comes out after around 900 m downstream in two outlets very similar to the size and shape of the inlets.
The project – currently under construction – is located 60 km east of Shannan township as the crow flies. The location is also almost 40 km east of Sangri county.
Source: Vinayak Bhat
What has raised questions about this project is that another project – Tsangmo or Zangmu Dam — has recently been constructed just 13 km downstream. This run of the river dam was made operational in end-2015 and has a capacity of 510 MW power production. Beijing did not pay any attention to India’s objections to the Tsangmo dam.
POSSIBLE DIVERSION PLAN
The construction of another dam 13 km upstream of Tsangmo which diverts the entire water inside the mountain suggests that its purpose may not just be hydropower generation. The purpose of this project is possibly for diverting a portion of the Brahmaputra to the parched areas of Taklamakan desert.
The geography of the area, when studied deeply with the elevation profile, clearly indicates that China may actually be planning to divert the waters of the Brahmaputra approximately 1,100 km northwest of the project site.
The path indicated on the image below shows the possible route of the underground tunnel which does not touch any water body on its way. The height difference at the project site and the point of Taklamakan desert suggest that a clear downslope will be available for the water to flow naturally without any additional constructions for large storage wells in between.
Source: Vinayak Bhat
India being downstream of the Brahmaputra has full rights over its waters and any diversion of water from this river could likely hurt Indian agriculture. During any emergency, a sudden release of water from this project can also cause havoc on the Indian side.
BLACK WATERS
Satellite imagery shows that polymer resin adhesives are being sprayed by China all around this project area as a dust suppressant system. The resin adhesives are commonly used for large construction projects but are never used for projects near water, according to some water projects construction engineers, since these polymer resin adhesives are said to be harmful to humans and animals.
The resin sprays have been observed over the last two months. The rough estimate of time for water flow to reach India from this project location is 15 to 20 days. The colour of the Brahmaputra water in Assam acquiring a darker shade, according to reports in the media, could possibly be due to the use of these resin adhesives at this project site.
CONSTRUCTION IN FULL SWING
Satellite images clearly show stone crushers and cement plants at the site. The products of this facility are obviously used inside these tunnels for construction purposes. The material being quarried from inside these tunnels is being piled along the river up to the road level. Most of the stones have been crushed to different sizes and some of it may be pushed into the river along with the water flow.
A large number of tippers and other vehicles are seen carrying material to and from this area. An administrative area is also seen east of the project with a large number of red-roofed houses and barracks, possibly living quarters for staff and may also contain administrative buildings.

I heard that NIA got interested in the pattern. One lawyer member had written the rationale to get NIA involved with out local police asking for it.

800,000 fewer Bangladeshi migrants in India: UN
The number of Bangladeshis living in India has come down by 800,000 since 2000 and now stands at 3.1 million, a UN report said.
In 2000, there were 3.9 million migrants from Bangladesh living in India, according to the 2017 International Migration Report released here on Monday.
It said that the number of migrants from all countries living in India now was 5.2 million, a fall of 1.22 million from 2000.
The data showed that there were about 258,000 fewer people from Pakistan now living in India than in 2000. There are now 1.095 million people originating from Pakistan in India, while there had been 1.353 million in 2000.

Putin can do nothing if the entire set up is as it is in India. Putin can do because of his MIC, Large natural reserves and relatively lesser economic dependency outside the country. Take Kerala, the Hindu DJ who supported those 3 years Muslim girls had to public ally apologize why? Cause he is based in Doha and economically dependent on AL Jazeera types. That is where the "Vikas" comes in.
You need to build systems for years before you can take action. The migration folks have completely infiltrated the system with their pasand politcos filling Police/ Judiciary/ Bureaucrats for too long.

India has drastically cut visas for Pakistanis
India said on Wednesday it cut visas to Pakistan drastically this year, issuing 18,000 fewer visas than in 2016, while Pakistan’s mission said it issued at least 6,000 more visas than before.
The Hindu quoted Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju as telling parliament on Tuesday that 34,445 visas for Pakistanis were issued in 2017, against 52,525 in 2016.
The reduced figures came despite several exceptional medical visas granted by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj after requests made to her on twitter.
PS: using lahori logic does this mean that 1 Paki = 37 Bangladeshis? There was, however, a surge in the number of Indian visas for Bangladeshis. As many as 1.28 million visas were given to Bangladeshis this year in comparison to 0.93m visas issued in 2016, Mr Rijiju said in reply to a written question.

Nashik arms haul case: Mastermind was high on 50 bottles of cough syrup when caught
Stealing the largest haul of weapons the state has seen in a decade was just step one of mastermind Pasha's grand plans to rule over Mumbai.
Pasha had already recruited 10-15 members for his gang, but he needed huge funds to keep his men happy and loyal. That's when he decided to steal the weapons. The next step of his masterplan was to use the weapons to loot a diamond shop in Surat, and then use the riches to build his own gang. The Nashik police have arrested four of his henchmen so far, while the Mumbai crime branch arrested another five. Pasha had been arrested thrice for possession of arms in the past.
According to the cops, three of Pasha's relatives married into families in Pakistan, and live there as well. He is not in touch with them. Pasha had visited Pakistan two to three times, while his father, Akbar Pasha alias Badshah had also visited more than five times.
Pasha's father, Akbar Pasha alias Badshah, also had a long history of crime. He was first arrested in 1995. Like his son, Akbar too was arrested thrice under the Arms Act, including in 2012 for an arms smuggling operation with his son. Both father and son have deep ties with Pakistan.

NIA goofs up, no Interpol RCN for Zakir Naik
In a setback to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Interpol has rejected the government's request to issue a Red Corner Notice (RCN) against controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, saying Indian agencies have failed to file a charge sheet against him.
NIA Director YC Modi told DNA, "RCN was not issued against Naik so far. If Interpol has stopped now from issuing, it can be further pursued." "The request for RCN against Zakir Naik was not accepted by Interpol as charge sheet had not been filed when the request was submitted to the Interpol Headquarters," said sources in NIA.
"Now NIA will submit a fresh request to Interpol as a charge sheet has already been filed in the concerned NIA court in Mumbai." NIA had requested RCN against Naik on 19 May for 'promoting enmity between two different religious groups on grounds of religion and doing acts prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony, being a member of unlawful Association, etc'.
The Indian government, through the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had banned Naik and his organisation, the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF). The NIA said that Indian youth, who joined the terrorist organisation ISIS, were highly influenced by his speeches.
Within 10 days, the request was contested by Naik through London-based attorney Peter Binning of Corker Binning law firm on 29 May. The Commission for the Control of Interpol's Files heard Naik's plea and in a letter dated 11 December to Binning, the Interpol said, "After a thorough examination, the commission found that the data challenged raised questions as to compliance with applicable roles. As a result, it considered that the retention of this data in the Interpol information system was not compliant with the Interpol's rules and decided that it should be deleted." The law firm had earlier written to Secretary General of Interpol, France, seeking for a refusal to issue RCH against Naik. India has to do a better job, if it wants to stop this "smooth operator" spreading his cancerous message !
Naik's foundation issued a statement saying that the Interpol's Commission found after thorough examination that the request from the Indian NCB was not compliant with Interpol's rules. Furthermore, the Interpol general secretariat has informed all Interpol NCBs that it has deleted the information relating to Dr Zakir Naik and urged them to update their national databases accordingly.

I am sure, the day will come soon," he told India Today. He is living up to his reputation "as a wolf in sheep's clothing"
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) last month had said that the inter-departmental consultations were on for the extradition of Naik from Malaysia. There were some earlier reports as well, that he has been granted "Saudi nationality cum citizenship" !

Re: Internal Security Watch
They are, precisely because it is one of the last cards left in their hand to play. The Dalit subnationality narrative is one of the two oldest and most expensively cultivated strategies in the Breaking India Forces' arsenal (the other being the Dravidian separatist narrative). Dalit irredentism is the Cong-Left ecosystem's sociological version of the Pakistani nuclear weapon. If they are deploying it now, it is because they see themselves in a use-it-or-lose-it situation, like the Pakistan army facing an all-out conventional mobilization by India. Nothing else has worked for them, not even a "Temple Run" by Rahul Gandhi.Karthik S wrote:Aren't they playing their cards little early? Still 1.5 years to go for next elections. Just like a nuclear weapon, the use of this card is very likely to have severely damaging consequences for a wide range of Indian interests, from internal security to economic development, in the short-to-medium term.
The good news is that playing caste politics almost invariably brings a backlash of even greater and more militant Hindu consolidation. Mandal commission politicking in 1991 was answered (and completely overwhelmed) by the Ram Mandir Rath Yatra in 1992. The compulsion to unite Hindus across castes will, I predict, drive the Modi government to adopt a far more aggressive Hindutva stance than it ever has to date...because Hindutva is proven to have succeeded against this particular menace far more profoundly than any amount of Vikas.
