There is a "love fest" present going on between Pakiland and Iran( in the name of Islamic unity !) these days ! Bajwa in Iran . Iran COAS in Pakhastan. Talks about reviving the TAPI pipeline. Am pretty sure some sort of a message is being conveyed to Massa, so that US "loosens" some financial shoe-strings.

I won’t worry too much
Pakistan will soon show its true colours very soon
Jundulla (They are ISI sponsored) will do some mischief in Eastern Iran, and Pakistan will not be able to move an inch on TAPI, because the beggers don’t have any money, and what little they have, they’re digging tunnels to hide their fauj and spending on terrorist groups

We should understand Iran’s anxiety wrt the sunni alliance & the US in Afg. The sunnis will use Balochistan or Afghanistan to cause mischief in Iran. The Iranians are trying to seal their border with Baloschistan. Any insurgency in Iran can only happen via Balochistan or Afghanistan (in both instances ISI sponsored)

The Iranians have decided to invoke arbitration clauses for Pakistan not doing its needful on the IPI project. That's quite a substantial amount the Porkis cant afford to pay and hence the GUBO sessions that are going on.

Entry Denied ! Used Bathroom As A Maternity Ward !

Woman gives birth in bathroom after being denied entry by health centre in Raiwind
LAHORE: A woman gave birth in her residence's bathroom after she was denied entry by on-duty doctors at a health centre in Raiwind on Tuesday.
The woman, the wife of a labourer, was taken to a Rural Health Centre (RHC) in Raiwind after she started experiencing labour pains. However, the staff at the health facility refused to admit her owing to a lack of facilities. “They told us to take her home and bring her after 8:00 am tomorrow,” a relative told Geo News. She should have knocked on the door of Ganja's Palatial Estate at Jati Umra ( not too far away ). She would have received "first class" medical attention at the full fledged "emergency medical room" reserved for Ganja and his extended family ( brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, in laws, in-law cousins, neice, nephews, minions and assorted hangers- on )
Upon this, the woman returned home where she gave birth in a bathroom. The baby fell ill soon after birth and the family had to bring him to the centre again. He was admitted and is recovering.( Allah be thanked !)
The woman’s relatives protested and demanded the health centre to be shut down if it cannot provide healthcare to the poor. Instead of "promising" 500,000 homes- and delivering none - to the gullible Pakjabis, Shahbaaz should have at least promised, and built a couple of hospitals in and around La-Whore, the Sharif Clan base .
Her family members claimed that the hospital's medical superintendent had not allowed her to be admitted owing to lack of beds and staff. Is it not time to "petition" China,[*] Qatar, Saudia or Brunei and seek funds from them !

Paki Supreme Court "Swings Into Action" To Clamp Down Of "Personality Cult" Adverts

SC bans public advertisements carrying pictures of political leaders
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Monday banned public advertisements carrying the pictures of political leaders while hearing a suo moto notice case. The three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan heard the case.During the course of proceedings, the chief justice asked the Secretary Information Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as to how many advertisements were given by the KP government to print and electronic media and whether the same carried the pictures of Imran Khan and Pervez Khattak. Instead of dealing with important matters like "disappearance of journos, activists and social media critics" by Deep Stae and the stinking smell of Fauji Corruption, the Paki Supreme Court has decided to tackle "safe" matters like this one , to give the pretense that it is doing its job !!!
The secretary information replied that the KP government had got published advertisements in print media and aired the same on electronic media, including radio and television channels, besides social media. No amount was paid for the social media. The KP government had the advertisements policy of carrying no pictures of political leaders, he added.Upon this, the chief justice remarked that the apex court was not banning advertisements, but only those which carried pictures of the leaders. The clarification !
The chief justice observed that no political campaign at public expense would be allowed and if any government wanted to do so then personal funds of leaders should be used for the purpose.
He said the Punjab chief minister had promised to deposit Rs 5.5 million. Doubt that the Paki Govt will "see the money" !
Over advertisements in Sindh, the chief justice observed that Benazir Bhutto Shaheed’s picture should not appear. Benazir was a martyr and she was respectable, he added.Similarly, pictures of Bilawal Bhutto and the Sindh chief minister should also not appear on advertisements, he said. Photu of DJinnah and Bajwa Saab OK

Pakjab Education Authority Gets Tough And Clamps Down On Jeans And Phones ( Symbols Of "Western Decadence" ) !

Jeans, mobile phones banned in schools across Punjab
LAHORE – The District Education Authority has placed a ban on the teachers wearing jeans and using mobile phones in classrooms in Punjab
The Authority has issued a new set of rules and regulations for the school heads and staff members. It has been made compulsory for the Grade IV employees to wear a black dress while on duty. (Hope Kaaba Head on his Paki tour did not "recommend " this Islamic garb :D )

Moreover, the education authority has said no child will sit on the ground. ( where is the money coming from for the desk and chairs  ) The school head cannot suspend a grade four employee and every classroom must have a dustbin. ( where is the money coming from for the bins and will those bins be emptied on a daily basis, and if emptied, where will be garbage be dumped , hopefully not in the school ground  )
Additionally, no teacher would be permitted to write any kind of letter to any authority. Teachers would only be allowed to go on pilgrimage during the holiday’s season. The school heads found violating any of the newly issued rules and regulation would be dealt with strictly. (It seems like a "purdah nishin Ayesha or a beard flowing Abdul has been appointed as Education Head  )
A day earlier, the Punjab School Education Department (PSED) had placed a ban on dance performances by students in all private and government schools in the province. IMO, these are only "two chapters" of the "New Book Of Rules and Regulations" . Next week will likely see new surprises !
Zahid Bashir Goraya—Chief Executive PSED said that education department would be suspending the licenses of any school that would permit or force children to dance at any school event or function.Goraya mentioned that the decision has been taken as there were many complaints received by the department that the students are being made to dance on Indian and Pakistani songs at school occasions. Malsi and the Mullahs are against "fun in life" Right?

Sharif In Psychological Shock Subsequent To "Shoe Attack" !

‘Unfit for politics’ Nawaz Sharif declared fit by doctors after shoe attack :D
LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif underwent a complete medical checkup after being attacked with a shoe in Lahore. The deposed prime minister came under a shoe attack during his visit to Jamia Naeemia in Lahore’s Garhi Shahu area on Sunday. He left the place after a short speech and reached his residence in Jati Umra.
Sharif’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz, insisted on conducted medical checkup of her father when he reached home, reported Daily Dunya. A team of doctors, comprising heart physician, ENT specialist and general physician, from Sharif Medical City examined the former premier, who was declared unfit for holding the office in the landmark Panamagate verdict.
After the proper checkup, the doctors declared Nawaz Sharif healthy and fit. ( Does it also mean that he can continue his "normal diet" of nihari, parathas and biryani, contrary to the advice of his "Harley Street" specialists  ) It is to mention here that the PML-N’s Quaid for life also underwent an open heart surgery in London in the past.
The suspected shoe-attacker and two accomplices were arrested by the police after the incident. The accused identified as Talha Munawar, Sajid and Abdul Ghafoor, have been sent on 14 days judicial remand on Tuesday. Deep State is hell bent on marginalizing Ganja and the Sharif family from Paki politics . This is another such instance, IMO !

Shoe Attack Becoming " Insult Of Choice" In Paki Politics

Shoe hurled at Imran Khan hits Aleem Khan on stage in Gujrat (VIDEO)
13 Mar 2018
Imran, who appeared to have not noticed that the incident happened, remained safe..
The man who threw the show was arrested by the security staff. Media reports suggest he was “upset at Imran Khan supporting Zardari”.
While Imran Khan’s party blame the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for the “shameful act”, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah was quick to condemn the incident, saying that such shameful stunts can never be encouraged. Blaming Ganja and his party for all Paki ills seems to be the norm these days !

Paki Defense Minister Rolls Out Fauji Statistics .

1,671 Pakistan Army soldiers deployed in Saudi Arabia
ISLAMABAD - 1671 army personnel are deployed in Saudi Arabia, Minister for Defence Khurram Dastgir Khan said in National Assembly his written reply. He said that 912 personnel had been deployed under Saudi Ministry of Defence while 759 had been under the Ministry of Interior of the kingdom. Not 1670 and not 1762. But 1671. Not sure if Raheel is being "counted" here . Also what about "Deep Cover" Deep State Agents . Included her or not

It's stunning to see Paki diplomutts and ministers claiming that IMF was no longer needed / Other sources of credit being available..

Pakis seem content to postpone the day their economy will inevitably go down the crapper, no body wants to push through economic reforms..
just beg, borrow and blackmail.. we are too pig to fail.. AoA!

To be fair, they only need economic reforms as a secondary measure. What they need to do first is to cut their military spending - 6+% of their GDP is wasted, but worse is that every dollar spent on the fauj only strengthens that vested interest further.

Pakistan's Dawn newspaper reported today that Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif yesterday invited Pakistan to participate in Chabahar seaport project and in the development of its link with the Gwadar Port "as he sought to allay concerns here (in Pakistan) over Indian involvement in the Iranian port."

“We offered to participate in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). We have also offered Pakistan and China to participate in Chabahar,” said Zarif, who is on a three-day visit to Pakistan, while delivering a lecture at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, said Dawn.
...
"allay concerns" is the key operative phrase here. It looks to me like the following conversation took place:
Paki: Ya rasool, how can you biradari mulk let kafir Hindus set up Charbahar port on Iranian soil? Don't you feel anything for us?
Iran: Oh no brother, you are welcome to join Charbahar as well! Bring the Chinese along too if they wish...

Now would China or Pakistan join Charbahar? What's there in it for them? Their presence in Charbahar could be a nuisance to us, and if they want to spend money to achieve that goal, so be it, except it will piss off the Afghans (and Chinese do care about how they come across). But Charbahar adds nothing of productive value to Pak/China since they already have overland routes into Afghanistan.

Yes, they can, if they put the combined weight of all their resources (lying, cheating, arithmetic) at hand including the army of sialkoti statisticians and djinn powered chinese calculators. After all, martiallaw, 12% annual growth is possible because it is thus ordained by allah.

Not for the pakis. That 6% is well spent in keeping their fragmented country together. A price worth paying for a group of discordant people with no raisin de itr.Common awam identifies only with army and allah, now that amrika has hung them out to dry.

Sirji,

They said that they can become a $750 billion economy in 7 years, not that they will. So they are technically correct. It would also be correct to say that in 7 years, if they maintain a CAGR of 100%, they can become a 38 Trillion dollar economy. :rotfl:

Also, you missed the name of the author. RAW agent?

Even the basic math is wrong, at 12% CAGR 300 billion becomes 663 billion, not 750.

CPEC's Multiplier Effect On The Haram Sector Of Paki Economy . Thirsty Chinese Responsible For Increase Consumption Of Alcohol In Pakistan.

Spirit of the law

Pakistan’s Murree Brewery shrugs off restrictions on its products
QUARTER-LITRE bottles of whisky whizz down a conveyor belt past Mukhtar Ali, a quality-control employee at Pakistan’s Murree Brewery, the only legal beer-and-spirit maker in this Islamic country. Nearby labourers pack Vat No.1, a cask-aged spirit, into boxes. An elderly man with a long beard tapes them up. Asked over the roar of imported German machinery if they have ever taken a sip of the amber liquid, each shakes his head. “It’s haram,” (meaning forbidden), says Mr Ali. Yes, but does he crave "the haram item"
The 155-year-old institution causes some spluttering nonetheless. Founded for British troops of the Raj, it can sell only to the 3% of the 207m-strong population that is comprised of foreigners and non-Muslims. But many of its products end up in Muslim hands, as illustrated by the predilections of the former prime minister, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who ordered a nationwide ban on alcohol in 1977. “He was the biggest consumer of Murree in history!” ( The shrewd Mullahs did not "buy" his last minute concession/ conversion to Malsi and therefore, he was removed via street agitation  ) says the company’s boss, Isphanyar Bhandara. ( The Parsi owner of the Brewery and a friend of the Zia-ul- Haq family !) Some employees do sneak drinks on the job, he adds.
Shareholders can toast a vintage few years for the firm, whose market capitalisation of $160m makes it one of the largest food and beverage firms listed on Pakistan’s stockmarket. In 2016, it doubled its alcohol-production capacity. Profits have risen by almost 100% since 2012, reaching a foamy $19.6m last year.
One reason is an influx of thirsty Chinese citizens, who clamour for alcohol as they deepen their country’s footprint in Pakistan. An increasingly relaxed officialdom also helps. Government employees work inside Murree’s fortress-like walls and hold the keys to locks on every vat of whisky. Yet in recent years provincial administrations have granted more permits to individuals and upmarket hotels to indulge. Elite Pakistanis, able to afford prices of around $3 for a can of lager, are a reliable source of demand. Being based in the same city ( Rawalpindi ) as the Army is based, also helps in increase in sales to those gernails and kernels who are "moderately enlightened" like Mush
It also helps that in 2009 the main sharia court ruled that the official punishment for drinking—80 lashes—was itself un-Islamic; the verdict had never been imposed. Yet Murree’s product remains a touchy subject. In 2016 the Sindh High Court temporarily banned all sales of alcohol in the southern province, a significant blow to profits as it accounts for 60% of Murree’s liquor sales. Krachi sales must be at least 95% of this ! The case still hangs over the company.
To guard against such headaches in future, Murree is expanding its range of soft drinks, including Murree Sparkletts, a mineral water. Freer liquor markets abroad also appeal. Attempts to brew Murree in neighbouring India (Pakistan’s law forbids exporting it outright) have foundered, the result of sour diplomatic relations. Yet the firm soon hopes to offer British citizens the chance, once again, to “have a Murree with your curry”. A worldwide distribution deal is being negotiated through a Czech brewery that produces its beer. “The Brits started it here, so why not?” says a tweed-jacketed executive, Sabih Ur Rehman, puffing on a Silk Cut cigarette.

Paki Foreign Office Details "Harassment" Faced By Paki Diplomats And Their Families In Nai Dilli

India continues to harass Pakistan's diplomatic staff, families: Foreign Office :((
The staff of Pakistan High Commission and their families continue to face "intense harassment, intimidation and outright violence from the Indian state agencies", the Foreign Office said on Tuesday.
Subsequently, Indian Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh was summoned (Hope he was not harassed in transit  ) by Director General SouthAsia and Saarc Dr Mohammad Faisal and a protest was lodged at "the maltreatment being meted out to the officials and families of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi", read a statement issued by the Foreign Office.
The Foreign Office said that "these [incidents] have escalated exponentially in the last few days".In the latest of such incidents which have continued unabated, on Tuesday (today) a car carrying school-going children of the counsellor was followed by unknown persons on cars and motorcycles. The children were harassed, intimidated and their vehicle was blocked.
"For psychological intimidation, videos and photographs of the children were constantly made for 40 minutes, leaving the children extremely traumatised. They were followed all the way to their residence."
Additionally, the drivers of the High Commission were forcibly halted and their mobile phones aggressively switched off to prevent them from contacting anyone, the Foreign Office said in its statement.
The statement describes how previously, on March 7 and 8, the children of the officers of the High Commission were harassed while returning from school. "Their cars were stopped by unknown persons who threatened the children and filmed them."
"When a protest was lodged following this incident, instead of ameliorating the situation, it was followed by further harassment and stoppage of the provision of gas to the residential complex and further threatening of staff working at the High Commission," reads the statement.
In other incidents on March 9, the naval adviser's car was aggressively chased and a political counsellor was forcibly evicted from a cab and harassed by unknown persons, who used abusive language, threatened him and filmed the whole incident with impunity.
Three days later, on March 12, some technicians were threatened and prevented from working at the diplomatic office. That evening, the First Secretary was aggressively followed when he left work for his residence.
"Despite repeated official protests lodged with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs at the highest level, there has been a rise in the occurrence of such disturbing events," said Dr Mohammad Faisal. IMO.this litany of "complaints" appears very one sided ,if it is not exaggerated or fabricated. On the basis of the "diplomatic principal of reciprocity", am sure that Indian Diplomats and their families in Isloo must be facing similar treatment which is conveniently not mentioned !

He emphasised that under the Vienna Convention, the safety and the security of Pakistani diplomats and their families is the responsibility of the Indian Government. :((
"The total apathy and failure of the Indian government to put a halt to these despicable incidents, sparing not even young children, indicates both a lack of capacity to protect foreign diplomats posted in India or a more reprehensible, complicit unwillingness to do so," he maintained. :((
A demarche was made to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad and external affairs ministry in New Delhi in this regard.
Relations between Pakistan and India have historically been tense, and the tensions aggravated under the BJP government. BJP PM Vajpayee undertook the historic bus journey to Lawhore , but was "stabbed in the back" by the Kargil war !

SLAMABAD – Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday advised his brother and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz to go abroad, leading daily newspaper has reported. Sources said that the Punjab CM has been facing problem in running the party affairs due to Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz’s anti-judiciary campaign. Iranian Foreign Minister compares Iran India ties with Pak Saudi ties
ISLAMABAD - In an interview with Capital Talk anchor Hamid Mir, the Iranian Foreign Minister has compared Iran 's relations with India as Pakistan's relations with Saudi Arabia. He said that as Pakistan Saudi Arabia ties are not against Iran as Iran India ties are not against Pakistan. Unlike Khawaja Asif of Pakistan, the un-experienced FM, a diplomatic answer given by a experienced diplomat. Read between the lines
He further stated that security ties with Islamabad are improving and we shall continue to cooperate with Pakistani counterparts to strengthen bilateral relations.Talking about Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, Zarif said that Tehran has shared all the information available with Iranian security agencies and assured that “our soil will not be used against Pakistan”. Iran- Pakistan ties were strained when pro Saudia Raheel was COAS and "insulted" President Rouhani and accused Iran of siding with India in a one on one meeting !
Zarif expressed disappointment over failure of Pakistan's efforts to bridge gap between Iran and Saudi Arabia. “We welcomed Nawaz Sharif's gesture to bring the two Muslim countries closer but Riyadh gave a cold shoulder.” A dig at Ganja and Pakistan's pretense of being neutral in the Sunni - Shia tiff !
Iran is willing to join China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and ready to include Beijing in Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline. Not sure if it is diplomatese or the Pakis are creating mischief by putting words in his mouth !
During the meetings, Iran sent out a strong message to the Pakistani leadership that Iran’s relations with India are not aimed against Pakistan.
He invited Pakistan and China to invest in the port of Chabahar (Not sure if he said that or not  ) strategically situated at the mouth of Straits of Hormuz and said both countries will need to cooperate for ending terrorism in the region.

Most of the officials, who were sitting in the driver’s seat of their vehicles, when questioned by the channel’s reporter, answered that they did not have their licenses with them at the time.
The reporter concluded his report by requesting the Sindh IG to take action against all those police officials who are openly violating traffic rules while reprimanding common citizens for doing the same. :D

TEHRAN: Four “terrorists” were killed after infiltrating Iran and attacking a military check post in a southeastern border area, Iranian officials said on Monday. The attack took place on Sunday near the city of Saravan, about 50 kilometres (30 miles) from the Pakistani border, in the province of Sistan-Baluchistan, the Islamic Republic’s elite Revolutionary Guards said in a statement.
He said on state television that the assailants had mounted their attack from “the soil of a neighbouring country” but did not name the country. In the past, Iran had accused Pakistan of supporting Jaish al-Adl, an extremist group accused by Tehran of links to Al-Qaeda, which had carried out numerous attacks in Sistan-Baluchistan. Indian Policy Makers Should Make Note Of This In View Of Saudi - Pakistan Nuclear Cooperation .

Saudi cabinet approves national atomic policy
Saudi Arabia’s cabinet on Tuesday approved the national policy of its atomic energy programme, state media said, as the kingdom prepares to award contracts for its first nuclear power plants. The policy insists on limiting nuclear activities to peaceful purposes and calls for enhanced safety measures as well as the use of best practises for radioactive waste management, the Saudi Press Agency reported.Saudi Arabia, the world’s top oil exporter, is seeking nuclear power to diversify its energy supply mix in order to free up oil to boost exports.
Besides the US company Westinghouse, Russian, French, Chinese and South Korean firms have all been seeking the Saudi contracts. Some analysts have voiced concerns that Saudi Arabia seeks to use its atomic programme as a hedge against its arch-rival Iran, which signed a deal with the United States in 2015 to curb its own nuclear programme in exchange for sanctions relief.Saudi Arabia, which insists its intentions are peaceful, has signed cooperation agreements with over a dozen countries in recent years to boost nuclear cooperation, including France, China and Russia. Will Paki scientists be recruited . Will Paki expertise be sought. Will the moribund "network" of the AQ Khan Nuclear Bazaar be revived

A very interesting game is going on in Paki Politics:

Seeing the Im the Dim is prone to losing well provided advantages due to low IQ and too much self obsession, TSPA decided to step in through courts and judges by exploiting the Panama paper revelations. Since nothing can be proved in hurry in courts (and elections were approaching) Judges came out providing all sort of non judicial opinions to set the wider tone against Ganja, and initiate the broader election focused rhetoric. Imran was again given the set field to take advantage of, and build the tempo. TSAP thought that Ganja will be cornered with this two level attack where judges will backup a frontal assault by Imran. The possibilities were endless. PMLN could break from the assault, to Ganja giving it up and showing white flag.

You got to give it to Ganja. He called the bluff out and started attacking judges directly and through his cronies. TSPA didnt expect him to cross the line for direct attack on SC judges and this was win-win for Ganja. If they arrest him he becomes a political martyr and gets a sympathy wave to ride in elections;if they dont, he emerges as a defiant aggressive leader who will be able to rally his party. For TSPA the former is suicidal. Connivance of Judges can be simply established by the fact they have not arrested Ganja or his daughter for this open verbal attack but has booked all other cronies. For doing the same thing Ganja and his Daughter are doing. So that he cant become a political martyr. Ganja's upped the attack and they started working. Party was energized and embolden. TSPA started looking for another option

Zardari on the other hands was watching from sidelines. His girlish British accented son has not been able to galvanize the party. His defiance against TSPA backfired when PMLN refused to support him, and TSPA got him by his balls by arresting his two big cronies. He saw his future bleak and after 18 months of exile came back and approach TSPA for reconciliation.

With elections approaching, TSPA has now set the template for general elections. Zardari and Im the dim will come together with PMLN dissidents (just as they did for senate chairman and deputy chairman's elections) unofficially, and try to take PMLN down.

We are heading for interesting times in Terroristan!

Pakistan listed 9th largest arms importer in the world by SIPRI

KARACHI: Pakistan is the 9th largest importer of major weapons in the world, but the country has witnessed a staggering 36 per cent decrease in arms imports during the last five years, according to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) published on Monday.

The non-government organisation has emphasised that the decrease in the import of weapons by Pakistan can be attributed to the country’s deteriorating relationship with Washington, previously a major source of arms for Islamabad.

Global arms experts in Sweden believe the sale of weapons to the country has recently come under increased scrutiny as the global non-proliferation regime has moved to enforce international sanctions, placing certain suspect organisations and individual dealers on trading black lists.

Domestic financial constraints, triggered by an internal economic crisis, have also bitten the secretive defense sector of the nation, conflict analysts have noted.

9th largest arms importer in the world

List of Countries by Projected GDP

Pakistan is the 9th largest arms importer in the world, but despite heightened tensions along the border with arch-rival India, as well as internal conflicts, the country has decreased its arms imports substantially over the past five years, the report by the non-government organisation states.

Pakistan pledged $7 billion for its armed forces this fiscal year, and purchased 2.8 per cent of all weapons sold in the world between 2013-2017, data released by the Swedish non-profit group indicates.

War, conflict fuel arms imports to Middle East, Asia, says study

However, compared to period between 2008-2012, when the country was responsible for 4.9 per cent of the total global arms imports, this represents a 36 per cent decrease in the purchase of weapons.

SIPRI has revealed that China continues to be the largest exporter of weapons to Pakistan, accounting for an astonishing 70 per cent of the total arms imports of the South Asian country. The United States of America (US) is second on the list, with a 12 per cent share in the export of weapons to the nation. The Russian Federation, which has warmed up ties with Pakistan in recent years, is third, and has a 5.7% stake in its defense sector.

Although the actual number of weapons China exports to the country has remained roughly the same over the last ten years, the Chinese share in Pakistani arms imports has jumped from 45 per cent in 2008-2012 to almost 70 per cent in 2013-2017, the report by SIPRI highlights. The non-profit group added that Pakistan also purchased air-launched cruise missiles from China in this period.

According to the Swedish organisation, the quoted increase in imports from China is due to the overall decrease in the procurement of weapons by Pakistan during the past five years.

Outlining the contribution of the US to the defense industry in Pakistan, SIPRI says that there has been a substantial decrease in US arms exports to Pakistan as successive administrations in Washington have adopted a more aggressive policy against the country to express their frustration over Islamabad’s perceived lack of action against militants.

The US reduced military aid to Pakistan in 2013-2017, as the sale of American weapons to Pakistan fell by 76 per cent during this period, says the non-profit group. In contrast to the figures quoted above, from 2008-2012, the US provided substantial military aid to Pakistan, including 28 combat aircraft and 5 maritime patrol aircraft. according to SIPRI.

India

SIPRI says that India is the largest arms importer in the world, accounting for 12 per cent of the global sales. The Hindu-majority country has increased the import of weapons by at least 24 per cent during the last five years.

Like Pakistan depends on China, India relies on Russia for the bulk of its weapons. According to SIPRI, during 2013-2017, Russia accounted for a whooping 62 per cent of arms imports to India.

But experts believe the South Asian country is seeking to diversify the sources of its arms imports, and in an effort in this regard, has inched closer to the United States.

The relationship between US and India is growing into a strategic partnership against rising superpower China, evidenced by a sky-rocketing 557 per cent increase in arms sales between India and US over the last five years. US is also supplying the Indians with advanced military equipment, SIPRI underlines.

Advanced weaponry being provided to India includes long-range maritime patrol aircraft, strategic transport aircraft and combat helicopters. Apart from these, India has bought air-launched cruise missiles from France, surface- and submarine-launched cruise missiles from Russia, and loitering munitions, commonly known as suicide drones, from Israel, SIPRI reported.

Israel is identified as the third major defense partner for the Indians, and the movement of arms from Tel Aviv to New Delhi has increased by 285 per cent between 2008–2012 and 2013–2017, according to the non-profit group.

China, United States and Russia

SIPRI lists China as the fifth biggest arms exporter in the world, and says that the country’s weapons sales have increased by 38 per cent in the last five years.

According to the non-government organisation, China delivered major arms to 48 countries in 2013–2017. Pakistan was the main recipient, with a 35 per cent share, as it has been for all five-year periods since 1991. Large increases in arms supplies to Bangladesh and Algeria accounted for much of the growth in total Chinese arms exports in this period.

Interestingly, China is also the fifth largest arms importer in the world in the SIPRI report, although it has made a 19 per cent decrease in import of weapons since the 2008-2012 period. The bulk of Chinese purchases in the defense sector come from Russia, France and Ukraine.

The US was the top arms exporter in the world during 2013–2017, according to SIPRI. Its share of total arms exports globally rose from 30 per cent to 34 per cent over the past five years, as it delivered major weapons to at least 98 states in the last five years.

According to the non-profit group, states in the Middle East accounted for 49 per cent of US arms exports during this period, Saudi Arabia being the largest beneficiary with 18 per cent of total US arms exports.

SIPRI has ranked the American nation as the 14th largest importer of weaponry as well. The US imports most of its arms from North Atlantic Treat Organisation allies Germany, France and Netherlands.

The report has termed Russia the second largest arms exporter in the world, despite the fact that the exports of major weapons by the country has decreased by 7.1 per cent over the past five years. In 2013–2017, Russia delivered major weapons to 47 states, SIPRI states.

A total of 58 per cent of Russia’s arms exports went to its top three recipients: India, China and Vietnam, which accounted for 35, 12 and 10 per cent, of the total exports respectively.

Surprisingly, and unlike rival states, Russia is not on the list of the top forty global arms importers identified in the report by SIPRI.

Global trends and analysis

Conflict analysts at SIPRI have said that the volume of international transfers of major weapons in 2013-2017 was 10 per cent higher than in the preceding five years.

Trends in the released data by SIPRI indicate that the flow of arms increased to Asia and the Middle East in the past five years, perhaps as a result of heightened tensions around new conflict zones, while there was a decrease in the flow to Africa, the Americas and Europe.

The five biggest exporters – the United States, Russia, France, Germany and China – together accounted for 74 per cent of all arms exports in 2013–2017.

A range of experts have given their opinion on the SIPRI report, which can be accessed online publicly.

“The increased flow of arms raises concerns over their impact on international peace and security”, Jan Eliasson, Chair of the SIPRI Governing Board, told the official website of the Swedish group. “It stresses the need to improve and implement international mechanisms such as the Arms Trade Treaty,” she added.

Another expert, Pieter Wezeman, Senior Researcher with the SIPRI Arms and Military Expenditure Programme, noted in the report that the “widespread violent conflict in the Middle East and concerns about human rights have led to political debate in Western Europe and North America about restricting arms sales to these countries”.

Regarding tensions between Pakistan and India in South Asia, a senior researcher with SIPRI has maintained that India’s growing demands for weapons is driven by its fear of Pakistan and China, but the Hindu-majority country “remains unable to produce weapons itself”.

“China, by contrast, is becoming increasingly capable of producing its own weapons and continues to strengthen its relations with Pakistan, Bangladesh and Myanmar through arms supplies,” the researcher added in his assessment.

Aditya_V Ji :

In my Opinion the Pakistani Defence Expenditure including Pensions and Nuclear Armed Missiles should be in the vicinity of US$ 25 Billion as India's Budget is US$ 64 Billion.

Thus, it is no wonder that there is hardly any Budget left for Education, Health & Welfare of the Mango Abdul, Burqa Bilkis and the Nunna Mujahids!

I agree with your insight 100% . Paki Fauj is trying all options to make Ganja irrelevant . They have brought Dus Percenti and Immy together for the purpose of defeating Ganja in the Senate Elections. IMO, the TSPA is now "roping in" Shahbaz " to dislodge Ganja's influence by putting in news reports asking him to go to London and retire there. ! Will Ganja oblige . Will Zardari and Immy work together. ? Immy IMO, is not PM material !! So interesting times ahead indeed !

Editorial In Yawn Warns Against Pakjabi Dance Ban By School Education Dept

Punjab dance ban
EditorialUpdated March 14, 2018
While not explicitly stated, it seems that the proscription du jour is a cynical, misguided appropriation of a pressing issue, recently foregrounded by the rape-murder of little Zainab and all the abuse allegations that have since followed: how do we keep our children safe?
We should be holding perpetrators accountable, not abetting in the broader crime of stealing childhoods. True

Little things can make the entire nation of nanga-bhookas go delirious.

Pakistani brothers who scored over 90% in Harvard University diploma course
Two Pakistani brothers have done the entire country majorly proud by scoring over 90 per cent at a Harvard University diploma.
Data Science course that assessed their skills based on Mathematics and Economics enabling analysis of statistics. (What!!??)
“We obtained data from US Statistics Bureau to participate in the online course,” Tayyab shared. :rotfl:
The two inbred LaWhoris scored 90% in an online diploma course where they sliced and diced data from an open source and plugged it in a predetermined statistical model and VOILA! Go figure! Here, pakislurks. Try this for redundancy. https://data.census.gov/cedsci/search.

The irony is that the certificate they received was signed by an SDRE....N. Satyanarayan or something.

Chinese company operating Gwadar lacks NoC, NA body told

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance on Tuesday Was informed that the Ministry of Interior had not yet issued security clearance to M/S China Overseas Ports Holding Company (COPHL), which is building and operating the Gwadar Port, causing the parliamentary panel to ask the authorities to probe this matter.

“The Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has been directed to launch an investigation against COPHL,” the NA committee said in a meeting held here at the Parliament House on Tuesday under chairmanship of Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh.

SECP Executive Director Shaukat Hussain informed the NA panel that the Ministry of Interior had not yet issued a security clearance certificate to M/s (COPHLC-Pakistan) that is building and operating Gwadar deep-sea port. He said that they had written to the Ministry of Interior in November 2014 but so far got no response.

Under the requirements of the Ministry of Interior, companies involving foreign directorships and subscribers have to secure mandatory clearance –the No Objection Certificate, from the Ministry of Interior.

PTI leader Asad Umar revealed that COPHLC-Pakistan was a company of unknown credentials at best and attributed to an article in which it was claimed that the parent company of the COPHC-Pakistan, the China Overseas Ports Holding Limited, was a one-room company, registered in Hong Kong.

The chairman of the NA panel asked the SECP to probe these allegations in order to determine the origin of the parent company of the COPHLC-Pakistan. The committee also directed the SECP to submit complete profiles of the parent company and its subsidiary. The committee asked the SECP to review the security clearance issue of the COPHC-Pakistan. The SECP also submitted documents in the standing committee. Its papers showed that the three directors of the company hold only three shares – one each for its three directors – and the rest of its total 10 million shares is owned by COPHC Limited based out of Hong Kong.

The COPHLC requested the SECP Registrar for approval for COPHCL-Pakistan name in August 2014. The SECP said that as the Interior Ministry didnot give a security clearance certificate, the regulator proceeded with the incorporation of the company after taking standard undertaking from COPHLC-Pakistan.

For two years, the company did not file its annual audited accounts and the SECP then served a show-cause notice to the COPHC-Pakistan on February 9, 2017 for not filing the annual accounts and other updated documents. Consequently, the company filed the annual audited accounts for the years ended June 30, 2015 and June 30, 2017. Ah! Well!! Account for the Year June 30, 2016 are STILL AWAITED!
