Not sure that this " incentive" is still in existence, but once agains reinforces the view that Pakistan is shedding its "South Asian" roots to curry favour with the Arabs !!!!

Hijab wearing girls in Colleges to get 5 marks extra
March 17, 2017
LAHORE: Punjab Higher Education Minister, Syed Raza Ali Gillani has announced on Tuesday that government institutions would allot five marks to each of the hijab-wearing female students in bid to promote the practice. The provincial government has introduced its policy today to promote hijab-culture in Punjab.
Moreover, all teachers in government’s institutions are now required to narrate a Hadith before they begin their lecture.
How are they going to implement this "ridiculous rule" ? . Teachers to take hijab attendance ? Girls from minority communities who do not wear a hijab ? non-level playing field ? The Hadith Directive : what if the teacher is not a Muslim . Does he have to convert and learn the Hadiths ?

In View Of The Deteriorating Ties With US Pakistan Is Now Courting Russia Via The Media :D

Why Pakistan Russia need each other?
May 14, 2018
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister has already stated that countries like Russia * * * and China are there in case Pakistan’s relations with the US sour. No doubt, Russia * * * is also wilfully exploiting the widening disconnect between Islamabad and Washington.
Translation : Pakistan is once again available for hire !
Going forward, Islamabad needs to be careful about how it crafts its relationship with Moscow. Care should be taken that it is not a partnership based solely on security related matters — it should be a multilateral relationship. If Moscow abandons us when its security needs are taken care of, we should not be left complaining the way we did when Washington did the same.
Caution : Go right ahead, but not at full speed

HS&D - lost. Heads will roll. This just in.

US diplomat who killed biker in road accident allowed to leave Pakistan, sources say
US defence attaché Col Joseph Hall, who was earlier barred from flying out on an American military aircraft by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), was reportedly allowed by the government to leave on Monday, after which the diplomat left for Afghanistan on a special flight, DawnNewsTV reported quoting diplomatic sources. :(( :((
The government reportedly took the decision after the US government assured that Col Hall will be tried under the US law, the sources added.
Last week, the Islamabad High Court had ruled that the US diplomat did not have "absolute immunity".
In effect, paki goberment overruled the high court directive. Popcorn and beer time.

Dimwit chimes in with this brilliant analysis:

Nawaz’s statement benefitted India, damaged Pakistan: Imran
PTI Chairman said that statement of Nawaz Sharif regarding Mumbai attacks benefitted India and damaged Pakistan’s image.
Nawaz Sharif’s name should be place in Exit Control List (ECL) and FIA and NAB should investigate the matter, Khan said.
Everyone should understand why this game was staged
no doubt conspiracy is being hatched to weaken Pakistan Army
Nawaz Sharif started attacking judiciary and the military after Panama Papers
Nawaz Sharif is making appeals to international establishment to save him
Investigation should be carried out into business links of Hassan and Hussain Nawaz with Indian businessman Sajjan Jindal.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif should immediately step down
...and...
“India making efforts to isolate Pakistan. Indian and Israeli lobby jointly work in the West.”

State media censors PM Abbasi’s presser on NSC meeting
ISLAMABAD: State-owned Pakistan Television (PTV) censored Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s press conference on the NSC meeting called over ex-PM Nawaz Sharif’s recent comments regarding the 2008 Mumbai attacks.PM Abbasi held a press conference in Islamabad and briefed the media about the National Security Committee (NSC) conference and also his meeting with former premier Nawaz Sharif. According to reports, the presser was not aired by mainstream private media, while it was aired on state-owned PTV after ‘necessary omissions’.
n his presser, the premier said that he and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif fully support former premier Nawaz Sharif after his comments regarding the 2008 Mumbai attacks caused a stir among the country’s political circles. Abbasi is a permanent member of the Nawaz Sharif Fan Club !
The premier also vowed to support Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lifetime president Nawaz saying that the former PM had not called upon Abbasi to give any clarifications and confirmed that the entire PML-N, including himself and president Shehbaz Sharif, stands by its lifetime head. :D

Anup Misra- ji :
My take: An earlier agreement was agreed upon by the two warring parties. And the Pakis agreed to let a US Air Force plane land at Chaklala Air Force Base a few days ago to "pick up the diplo" . Somehow the Pakis showed their Pakistaniyat and refused to let the Attache go , probably on petty bureaucratic grounds and also made it appear in their press that the "ISI foiled the Amreeki attempts to get the diplomats out" and the plane had to leave "empty handed" . In this way, they "scored" a victory . In the press no doubt ! After the inevitable US Danda to them , they have now quietly released the diplomat

Waziristan Protest Demands An End To Assassinations
housands of residents in northwestern Pakistan are staging a sit-in protest to pressure authorities into arresting those responsible for a string of recent murders.
Chanting angry slogans, the protesters in Mir Ali, a town in the North Waziristan district along Afghanistan’s border, called on Pakistan’s powerful military to ensure their security after a major security operation. The army claims the region was cleansed of terrorists after thousands of militants were killed during operation Zarb-e Azb, which was launched in June 2014. Raheel the Anti Shia did the damage here . And now is applying this experience to the Shias of Yemen !
The offensive displaced more than 1 million North Waziristan residents and completely destroyed the once-bustling agricultural and trading towns of Mir Ali and Miran Shah. But insecurity has gradually crept back after Islamabad allowed most displaced Waziristanis to return to their homeland by the end of last year. A string of targeted assassination has now rocked the region. Those who did not die in the "air bombing" initiated by Raheel, are now being picked up for killing one by one
The protests began after three prominent people were shot dead inside their houses in Mir Ali and Miran Shah over the weekend. They were among the latest in a string of assassinations. Unknown assailants have killed at least eight people inside their houses in North Waziristan during the past month. Hand of the Deep State cannot be ruled out !
“What kind of peace is this when we are being killed inside our houses?” Shafqat Dawar, a leader of the protesters, asked on May 14. “You [the army] never tire of telling the world that you have cleansed Waziristan [of militants], but we are not safe inside our houses.”
Dawar said the residents of North Waziristan and six more districts in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) are being deprived of the fundamental human rights guaranteed by the Pakistani Constitution.“The only right we seem to have is that of being killed,” he is seen telling protesters in a video whose authenticity was confirmed by several participants. “We want all our rights but first want authorities to ensure our security.” The press is not allowed inside North Waziristan, South Waziristan and other FATA Tribal Agencies , so the true situation is not known !
Abdul Nasir, a senior civilian official in North Waziristan, did not respond to repeated telephone calls seeking comments. While the military strongly denies supporting militants, its media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations, has not reacted to the protests in Mir Ali.Nasim, a protester in Mir Ali, told VOA’s Deewa Radio that local military officers have repeatedly contacted protesters to assure them of increased protection though robust patrols and sweeps. In April, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Pakistan’s powerful army chief, called for mainstreaming FATA to preserve the dividends from peace his forces have worked hard to achieved. “Stability and development efforts [in FATA] must trickle down dividends of peace to the public while [the] control of cleared areas is being handed over to [the] civil administration," he said. "[The] key dividend remains linked to the mainstreaming of FATA in line with popular public sentiments.”In Mir Ali, however, the protesters appear to have little patience for more violence.“If anyone is killed, we will take their dead bodies to Islamabad to protest,” Shafqat Dawar said.

The Hoopla About The Paki - Amreeki "Ms Marvel"

Ms Marvel might be the new Muslim superhero we’ve all been waiting for
Good news for all the marvel fans. In an interview with BBC president of marvel has announced a major news for especially Muslim fans. Kevin Feige confirmed that Ms Marvel is in works and it’s a major news for all the Muslims fans as they will soon be getting representation
Ms Marvel is also known as Kamala Khan, 16 year old Pakistani-American girl who finds her superpowers at her high school party. Struggling to live in America Khan finds herself in a ‘different’ situation still trying to figure out who she is. Not sure if the Mullah fraternity is "comfortable" with this "western" idea !
The beauty behind this amazing Ms Marvel is Sana Amanat who worked hard for this amazing character. Muslim superhero with Pakistani origins and that too a girl we can’t wait to see Ms Marvel onscreen.

Isolated nation

In a recent discussion in our Masters of Journalism class, we were discussing how isolated we are becoming as a country. We rely on second-hand news sources largely to report on our region to begin with. Our official news agency, APP, and other media houses have a sprinkling of reporters — none in the region. There is no Pakistani journalist stationed in Afghanistan, Iran, China or Bangladesh, let alone in Turkey or beyond. We do not know what others are thinking. We assume with the help of Western media and other sources.

But the isolation does not end there. In comparison to our neighbouring countries, we are losing out on the expertise that would come from our open interaction with the outside world. There are many ways to gauge where we are heading.

Let us start by looking at foreign companies on the ground in Pakistan. Initially it was said that some companies were winding up because of the law and order situation. But now when things are looking better, the good long-term investors are still closing shop.

We import foreign brands but have few joint ventures. The number of foreigners in the corporate sector is almost nil. In most instances, multinationals have Pakistani CEOs. Foreign nationals bring an international perspective. We are losing out on that. Similarly, the number of foreign airlines serving Pakistani airports has gone down significantly. Look at sports. No team wants to play in Pakistan.

Visiting Pakistan is an ordeal. Despite the open-visa regime, bureaucracy makes it almost impossible. Others complain of long waits at embassies abroad.

Barring the very brave who may have a death wish, no one really wants to visit Pakistan. From the day they land, most foreigners complain of being followed, harassed and having to bear with substandard facilities. Hotels are prohibitively expensive and people usually are out to fleece foreigners.

Most foreigners (barring the Chinese) are not allowed to travel the country freely. If a Westerner turns up at a small town in Pakistan, the intelligence agencies of that town go into overdrive. For most Pakistanis, every Westerner is a CIA agent, particularly those who speak Urdu or a local language. Foreigners find this absurd and funny in the beginning but with a few days they are frustrated by this attitude. Gone are the days of exploring new areas or places off the trodden track.

Let us forget this nonsense about our warm hospitality, most foreign visitors say that many Pakistanis want to cheat them — whether the taxi driver, the money changer or the porter at the airport.

Overseas Pakistanis are our window to the world. Their input, in many instances, makes things worse. For many, their perspective of Pakistan is the year they left. Many live in a world of nostalgia and when they come here, they expect things to be that way. By and large many overseas Pakistanis have regressed in their views and outlook while living in closed communities in their adopted homelands.

Academia is no exception. Most foreign teachers and trainers have left. Our government has issued a circular through Nacta that forbids interaction with foreign organisations or entities. We have already shut down a number of international NGOs, harassing them as if they were criminals. This has resulted in the suspension of programmes from which poor Pakistanis benefited.

The only neighbour we are on good terms with is China. We are on terrible terms with India, Iran and Afghanistan. China, too, remains wary of the type of visitors who enter into the restive Xinjiang province. We are testing their patience.

We live in a vacuum. The best comparison would be North Korea. We have shut ourselves and have started believing our own propaganda. Our ignorance knows no bounds. That is why we believe in cars that run on water. Or that there is a world conspiracy against Pakistan. We are right, everyone else is wrong.

Many in Pakistan still don’t believe that the Taliban inflicted the casualties they did. Others say the same about the APS. In the absence of any mirror to see ourselves in, we believe we are the best. It was with sarcasm that Gamal Abdel Nasser once remarked that it seemed Islam was discovered in 1947. This isolated nation is becoming the new North Korea.

MUMBAI TERROR ATTACKS
Pakistan Army convenes national security meet over 'misleading statement' on 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks
The Pakistan Army said that the meeting was suggested “to discuss recent misleading media statement regarding Bombay incident”.
Just days after former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif triggered a controversy with his statement on 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, the Pakistani Army has convened a meeting of National Security Committee. An announcement in this regard was made on microblogging site Twitter by the Pakistani Army.

Pakistan Armed Forces official spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor posted on Twitter that the NSC meeting was suggested to country’s Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. Without naming Nawaz Sharif, the official spokesperson said that the meeting was suggested “to discuss recent misleading media statement regarding Bombay incident”.
“NSC meeting suggested to Prime Minister to discuss recent misleading media statement regarding Bombay incident. Being held tomorrow morning,” Major General Asif Ghafoor tweeted on Sunday night.
On Saturday, Sharif had publicly acknowledged that terrorist organisations were active in Pakistan and questioned the policy to allow "non-state actors" to cross the border and "kill" people in Mumbai, said a report in Pakistan-based Dawn. "We have isolated ourselves. Despite giving sacrifices, our narrative is not being accepted. Afghanistan's narrative is being accepted, but ours is not. We must look into it," he said.

Seeking Justice in Pakistan, Pashtuns Stage Defiant Rally in Karachi
N.Y. Times
By Meher Ahmad
May 13, 2018
KARACHI, Pakistan — A rapidly growing civil rights movement continued to test Pakistan’s tolerance for democratic dissent with a demonstration that drew several thousand protesters to Karachi on Sunday.
Despite the organizers’ calls for a peaceful protest, Karachi’s paramilitary and police forces had tried to thwart the demonstration, labeling the movement a terrorist group and accusing its leaders of sedition. This is the "stock " reply of the Paki Establishment !
The movement has shaken the Pakistani military establishment with its mission: to seek justice for Pakistan’s Pashtun ethnic minority, which activists say has been subjected to years of abuse, discrimination and deadly violence at the hands of the military under the guise of operations against the Pakistani Taliban and other militants in the country’s northwestern region — where most of the country’s Pashtuns live.
The movement’s accusations against the powerful and popular Pakistani military establishment run counter to the official narrative, which lauds the army as being responsible for a hard-earned peace in a country that has suffered at the hands of terrorist groups. To counter the PTM, they have created a movement called PZM. Pakistan Zindabad Movement, out of the blue !
Although the government has not banned the group, the Pashtun Protection Movement, also known as the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement, or P.T.M., the activists have clearly struck a nerve in Pakistan’s military establishment. Many have been threatened or detained by the authorities — Pakistan’s army chief has indirectly condemned them — but few local news media outlets cover their events because of pressure from military authorities who want to dampen support for the P.T.M. And some "uber patriots " have made calls for imposition of martial law , cancellation of elections and putting leaders like Nawaz, Zardari ,Wali Khan , Achakzai etc in jail !
The movement has successfully staged rallies that have drawn thousands of people across Pakistan in the last four months. Sunday’s event returned the focus to Karachi, where Pashtuns make up more than 20 percent of the population.
After years of Pashtun outrage over the unchecked power of the security forces, the P.T.M. found its spark in January after the killing of a small group of Pashtun men, including an aspiring model named Naqeebullah Mehsud who was originally from the tribal areas, by police officers in Karachi, a city notorious for violence an ethnic tensions. The officers claimed that the men were militants, but they have been accused of staging a fake shootout to cover up the extrajudicial killings. The normal modus operandi of the Deep State !
Still, the group was able to stage its rally in the presence of dozens of paramilitary and police units. Saroop Ijaz, a representative for Human Rights Watch in Pakistan, said the fact that the P.T.M. was not banned but was not afforded the same leeway as other political groups in the country left the movement in limbo. “There is clearly confusion caused by this dual policy of simultaneously granting permission and cracking down,” Mr. Ijaz said.
That dual policy could be seen in the obstacles faced by the leader of the movement, Manzoor Pashteen, who had an eventful few days as he made his way to Sunday’s rally: Mr. Pashteen, 26, was turned away from two different airports and stopped at checkpoints multiple times on his way to Karachi.
When he finally arrived at the demonstration, hours after he was scheduled to speak, he took to the stage as supporters chanted “What kind of freedom is this?” and “Behind terrorism are men in uniform!” ( A very popular slogan in Pakistan !)
Addressing the crowd, Mr. Pashteen remained defiant. “If they kill us now, we’ll die with our heads high,” he said. “We’ll die with some dignity.” IMO, he is going to end up in jail somehow !

Salahuddin to step down as Hizb chief
May 14, 2018
Srinagar, May 13
Muzaffarabad-based Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin is likely to step down to pave the way for others to take over reins of one of the largest militant organisations in the Kashmir valley. The development comes even as intelligence inputs suggest there is pressure on Salahuddin from Lashkar-e-Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad to step down as Hizb chief.
One of his sons in Kashmir, Shahid Yousuf, has also been arrested by the National Investigation Agency in connection with its “terror funding” probe. Sources said “soon you will see Salahuddin leaving the armed front. He will no longer be associated with it”.
They said one of the primary reasons was the recent US announcement declaring him as a “global terrorist”.
Though they did not clarify if Salahuddin would also step down as United Jihad Council (UJC) chief, they said he could be “offered some political role”.
Over the past two years, the militant group has suffered huge losses, losing its top commanders, including Burhan Wani, Sabzar Bhat, Sajad Gilkar, Abdul Qayoom Najar and Yasin Yatoo, in operations by security forces.
Since April, it has also lost a number of cadres, particularly in south Kashmir, where 11 militants were gunned down in a single day. On May 5, its four commanders and an assistant professor were killed. There were some earlier reports that his health was not good !

Ex CIA Chief : Paki Army Is "Obsessed With Fighting India" ( nothing new here !)

Shuja Pasha Admitted ISI's Role In 26/11 Mumbai Attacks, Says Ex-CIA Chief
February 23, 2016- old but still relevant !
Washington: Soon after the 2008 Mumbai terror attack the then chief of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) conceded that some of the powerful spy agency's retired members were engaged in training those involved in the heinous crime but refused to take action, a former CIA chief has said in a new book.
In his latest book 'Playing to the Edge', Michael Hayden, the former CIA Director, expressed his deep frustration of the "duplicity" of the Pakistani leadership when it came to taking action against terrorist groups in particular Al-Qaeda, Taliban, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Haqqani network.
Arguing that the Pakistan Army is built to fight against India and not terrorists, the top leadership in the country, particularly those from its military in the past one decade, have repeatedly expressed its inability to take on the terrorist groups in the tribal regions as desired by the US, he wrote. The situation has not changed since this was written . But now they have a Pashtun revolt on their hands !
Referring to the Mumbai terrorist attack, Mr Hayden, who was the CIA chief till 2009, said it was very clear that there seemed to be so many Pakistani fingerprints on the atrocity."I began routinely harassing my counterpart in Pakistan, now Ahmed Shuja Pasha (the former director general of Military Operations, the Pakistan army's top operational post), on the phone, urging him to get to the bottom of the attack and to discuss it frankly with us," he wrote.
Shuja was a "blue eyed" boy of the CIA !
Pasha, who had come to ISI only a few weeks earlier and had no previous intelligence experience, came to the US on Christmas Day and spent most of the next afternoon in his office.
"He worked carefully from notes. His investigation had revealed that some former ISI members were involved with Lashkar-e-Taiba (no surprise there). Pasha admitted that these unspecified (and still uncaptured) retirees may have engaged in some broad training of the attackers, but he was characteristically vague about any detailed direction the attackers had gotten during the attack via cell phone from Pakistan," Hayden wrote in the book. Pakis are noted for their "double dealing" and talking in vague terms is one tactic that are noted for !
"I took to passing sufficiently sanitised intelligence to Pasha on what we believed was going on in order to try to goad him into action. If he knew that we knew...perhaps we could get some movement. We didn't have a whole lot of success," Mr Hayden wrote.
So, what Ganja Sharif disclosed this week was an "open secret"
Narrating an incident when the then Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf refused to fill up gas in the airplane that flew him to Islamabad, where he had gone to press him to take action against terrorists, Hayden wrote: "One more bit of evidence that these guys really were the ally from hell".
The crew had forgotten their government credit card- you can't make this stuff up- and the Pakistanis wouldn't budge, he wrote.
Musharraf refused to take action, despite some crucial evidence being provided to him.
"And every time he was pressed, the response was his army was built to fight India, not tribal insurgents, and he wasn't going to bleed it in Waziristan's mountains chasing Pashtun, Uzbek or Arab jihadists," the former CIA chief said.
The US received similar response from other leaders of the Pakistan Army including General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani and the ISI's chiefs, he said.
"(The then) ISI chief Ashfaq Kayani didn't say anything to ease our concerns when he reported that there was little prospect of the Pakistani military conducting robust ops in the tribal region. He said that it was less a matter of will than of capacity. His army was certainly India-focused," Mr Hayden wrote."Indeed, one senior Pakistani official told me that his was the only army in the world that sized the perception of the threat (India) to meet the desired end strength of the military. So PAKMIL was big, artillery heavy, and road bound-and ill-suited to navigating mountain trails or dealing with insurgents," he says in the book. Later , under the leadership of Raheel Sharif they carpet bombed their own Pashtun citizens under the pretext of fighting terrorism ( for which they received American Taxpayers money !) and now they are faced within a Pashtun revolt on their hands
"When the US government presented Pakistani officials with intelligence that pinpointed an al-Qaeda leader and a plan of action to 'take him off the battlefield'", the response was "no, maddening delay, or our target suddenly and unexpectedly relocated".
Many Pakistanis viewed LeT (like the Haqqani network and the Taliban) as some sort of strategic reserve rather than the strategic liability and regional danger they really were, he wrote.
"Islamist terrorism thrives in places- Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, Syria, Libya, Mali, the list goes on- where governments cannot or will not act. In some of these instances, the United States must," he said.

Ganja Sharif In Hot Water As "Hundreds Of Cases" Submitted Against Him Across The Accursed Country For The "Crime" Of Hurting The Sentiments Of Pakistanis. The Riled Up Awaam Is Calling For His Scalp ASAP

Nawaz Sharif lands into trouble as multiple applications submitted across Pakistan for registration of case against him
May 14, 2018
LAHORE - Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lands into serious trouble as applications have been submitted across Pakistan for registration of case against him over Mumbai attacks statement.Applications for registration of case against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif have been submitted with police in nine cities of Pakistan over his controversial interview in which he said that those who attacked a hotel in Mumbai in 2008 hailed from Pakistan.
The applications were submitted in police stations of Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Mianwali, Vehari, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Narowal and Zafarwal on Sunday, Dunya News reported. CJP Nisar will "ensure" that there is no inordinate delay in bringing the cases to court
The applications have taken a stance that the interview of former prome minister has hurt the sentiments of Pakistanis and a case should be filed against him in this regard.
Looks like the "Bhutto trial drama " is repeated all over again !
They further said in their applications that the former prime minister took oath of allegiance with Pakistan three times, but he betrayed his own country. He should be punished by registering a case against him. So, in the heat of the moment, his contribution in making Pakiland, the First Islami Atomi Takat is completely forgotten . And he is suddenly labelled as a traitor

Looks like that the mards, as usual, are acting as they usually have done, i.e. lying for a good Islamist cause is acceptable (Gen. Zia). They are therefore only worried about 'sentiments', not facts.

This Time It Is The NSC That Will Be "Probing" Ganja Sharif Once Again

National Security Committee meeting to scrutinise Nawaz Sharif anti state remarks underway in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD: The National Security Committee (NSC) meeting to scrutinise former PM Nawaz Sharif’s remarks on the 2008 Mumbai attacks is currently underway at the Prime Minister house in Islamabad.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is chairing the meeting that is being attended by Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat and Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Major General Asif Ghafoor.
The Defence and newly appointed Foreign Minister Khurram Dastgir is also present at the high-level meeting.
Indian media was quick to pick up Sharif’s remarks, claiming the former PM had vindicated India’s official stance that Pakistan was involved in the Mumbai attacks.
Not sure when ,where and how the "probing" is to be done. Is the "scrutiny" going to be done from the front or the back ; is the probing going to be done at a Military Hospital with a " colon specialist" present to ensure that the probing is done in a safe and sound way and that the "patient does not become DOA " before the "probing" . Evidence obtained by the probing will of course be shared with the Awaam of Pakiland

I am almost done with Steve Coll's new book titled "Directorate S - The CIA and America's Secret Wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan". It documents the extreme duplicity and two-timing of the pakis during the wars on terror in Afghanistan. In particular the ISI, TSPA, baki political leadership and Karzai are untrustworthy. In short, we have known all along that the pakis cheat on us, mean us harm, use India as a bogey reason to extort money and material help, and are terribly paranoid about everything Indian. All their discussions with Karzai veer around India.

Here's my question.

One claim in the book struck me as rather odd. Coll claims that Musharraf operated behind Indian lines during the 1971 war. I googled this but came up short. Is this true? I always thought that Musharraf sat out the war in relative safety.

Mushy has admitted that he sat out the war in 71. He claims to be part of some grand SF plan to para drop and secure some bridges for an armored Thrust on the western front but by Niazi had surrendered.

I recall reading somewhere that when he was Head Of SSG ( special services group ), and this must have been much after the 1971 war, he had crossed the LOC for some "inspection and morale boosting" and came back "unhurt". I believe that this "boast" came from Mush himself - in one of his interviews !!!

Ganja ( a possible future martyr !) Remains Defiant

Nawaz rejects NSC statement, deems it 'painful and regrettable'
Nawaz Sharif, while speaking to reporters at the accountability court on Tuesday, stuck to his stance on the remarks regarding the Mumbai attacks made during an exclusive interview with Dawn and "rejected" the National Security Committee's (NSC) statement from yesterday, terming it "painful and regrettable".
In the interview published on Saturday, Nawaz had said: "Militant organisations are active. Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai? Explain it to me. Why can’t we complete the trial?"
Soon after the publication of Sharif's interview, Indian media blew up his remarks, terming it an admission on part of the former prime minister that non-state actors from Pakistan were involved in the Mumbai attacks in which terrorists had killed more than 150 people and injured over 300 others in about a dozen shooting and bombing attacks in different localities. Indian media too, likes to "comment" on the political soap operas going on in Pakiland nowadays . Nothing wrong in that . This is "old stuff". What they call "open secret"
The NSC, after a meeting yesterday, had issued a statement saying: "The participants observed that it was very unfortunate that the opinion arising out of either misconceptions or grievances was being presented in disregard of concrete facts and realities.( What are those. That Ajmal Kasab was a Hindu , just because he wore a string around his wrist, that he was not selling "pani puri" in Okara before he was picked up for LET recruitment  ) The participants unanimously rejected the allegations and condemned the fallacious assertions." One of those vague statements that has to be put on record , to save Pakistan's hide ( ie Echendee) for posterity . IMO
It is pertinent to mention that the NSC statement did not name Nawaz while addressing the controversy around the 'misleading' comments about Mumbai attack. Soon after the NSC meeting, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in a press conference had clarified that the NSC had in fact condemned “misreporting” and not his party’s supreme leader’s statement. Some dignity has to be observed. Thank God for small mercies
Nawaz again rejected the NSC statement today, describing it as "painful and regrettable", and said that it was "not based on facts".He reiterated his demand for the formation of a national commission to decide who committed treason and said that it would allow all facts to become clear. "A decision should be made about who is a patriot and who is a traitor," he added. This kind of public humiliation- of an Ex PM - can happen only in a state like Pakistan. But Ganja is not the first. Zia made an example of ZAB !
On Monday, several senators on both sides of the aisle had fired a broadside at Nawaz for his recent statement about the Mumbai attacks, with some going as far as demanding that the PML-N supremo be tried for high treason; that his name be placed on the Exit Control List, and a thorough investigation be undertaken to determine the reasons behind the statement made by a thrice-elected prime minister.
"Even at that time, the same things ─ getting our house in order ─ were being discussed in an NSC meeting," he pointed out, referring to a 2016 meeting in which, Dawn had reported, the civilian government had informed the military leadership of Pakistan's growing international isolation and sought consensus on several key actions by the state. He is washing Pakistan's dirty linen in "open public"
"At that time, this matter was turned into 'Dawn leaks'," he said."We should find out who laid the foundation of terrorism in the country," he asserted."Pakistan is not becoming isolated, it is already isolated. Tell me which country stands with us, is there any?" he asked. Is this the "New Ganja" speaking , just to save his "own skin" or has he suddenly become a "peace and reconciliation" activist like Nelson Mandala ( ready for a Nobel !)

Someone Trying To "Send A Message" To This Ultra Anti Ahmedi Judge Of The Isloo High Court

Justice Shaukat Siddiqui's office in IHC catches fire

The Express Tribune
ISLAMABAD: Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui’s office caught fire as the UPS installed exploded causing a short circuit in the electric wiring at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday morning.Initial reports reveal that the explosion caused wires of Justice Siddiqui’s staff room to further catch fire. The records in the room were saved.
Earlier in March, the counsel for Justice Siddiqui of the IHC contended that in-camera proceedings of misconduct against judges stigmatise their reputation.
Makhdoom Ali Khan, while representing Justice Siddiqui, debated that public interest and the interest of the judge demanded that the proceedings before the council against the conduct of a judge should be held in the open because “the judge is stigmatised for life, loses his pension benefits and his family remains affected for generations”.

Here's a link to the page in that book where Coll makes that claim. Odd that someone with the stature of Coll would fall for musharraf's BS. Musharrf even claimed that he won a gallantry award for this act of his during the '71 war.

Trust Deficit Becoming An Issue With Tallel Than Mountain Fliend

Pakistan catches Chinese firm evading Rs1.12b in taxes :D

The Express Tribune
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s customs authorities have caught a Chinese company that supplies coal to the 1,320-megawatt Sahiwal Power Plant evading Rs1.12 billion in taxes on its imports, but the tax machinery is reluctant to file a criminal case due to sensitivities attached with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Awaiting instructions from the Deep State as to how to handle this "delicate issue"
Despite the fact that the company has admitted its fault and deposited Rs1.2 billion in the exchequer last month, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is reluctant to register a criminal case against Huaneng Fuyun Shipping Company owing to ‘national interests’. The Chinis have to be handled with kids gloves :D
The case highlights the magnitude of challenges authorities are facing in dealing with Chinese firms. The Chinese have a well known world wide reputation for not playing within the rules
The first investigation report has not been registered against Huaneng Fuyun Shipping in ‘national interest’, said an FBR official on the condition of anonymity. The Model Customs Collectorate Port Qasim, Karachi, unearthed the case of evasion of duty and taxes by Huaneng Fuyun Ports & Shipping, according to FBR’s documents. The company belongs to state-owned China Huaneng Group. Another sister company of the Group, Huaneng Shandong Ruyi (Pakistan) Energy (Private) Limited, has built the 1,320MW Sahiwal power plant under the CPEC framework.
On Pakistan’s National Day, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi signed the “Outstanding Achievement Award” for the Huaneng Sahiwal Power Station, according to the China Huaneng Group’s website.
The award can always be called back citing "clerical error"
The evasion of duties by the Chinese firm is not an isolated case, as tax authorities also face challenges of misdeclaration of goods under the guise of imports for the construction of projects of CPEC, said sources in the FBR. Pakistan is fast becoming a society where the Chinese are going to get preferential treatment in "everything" - at the expense of the Paki public - just because they have decided to "take care of Pakistan " financially and otherwise

Real reason why the US diplomat was allowed to leave.

US Embassy struck ‘Diyat’ deal with family of youth killed in accident
The family of man killed by US diplomat has reached an agreement with the US Embassy on blood money, sources told Daily Jang.
...in return they will not pursue the case in court
The details of the agreement, which was reached many days ago before the diplomat was allowed to leave on Monday under the Vienna Convention, are kept secret.
Pakistan's criminal, civil, and administrative laws do not apply to the US envoy.
In the end, it was all about money. Remember, in bakistan, one is dealing with a tribal culture where money trumps all. Loyalties can be bought and sold.
