Those who killed our children were for years given benefit of the doubt by the State terming them "mujahid" "patriots" "sachay pakistani" and "naraz bhai". While those who demand fundamental rights are labeled "Engineered" and "Foreign Agents" by the Stage on day 1.

Founded to protest Pakistan 'disappearances', group now sees supporters go missing
Saad Sayeed
KARACHI (Reuters) - As they were about to enter the office of the Commissioner of Karachi for a meeting to discuss a rally planned in Pakistan’s largest city, leaders of a Pashtun-led rights movement were intercepted by armed men accompanied by paramilitary Rangers. They should have brought CJP Nisar alongwith with them
“A car with men in plainclothes pulled up in front of us and men with guns got out and told us to stand still,” Said Alam Mahsud, an organizer with the Pashtun Tahafaz Movement (PTM), told Reuters. He said three PTM activists with him were put in a truck and taken away by the armed men, as uniformed Rangers stood by. They returned two days later saying they had been interrogated, threatened, punched and kicked by the unidentified men, then handed over to the Rangers, who released them. First "offense" it is only a warning ! [/quote]
PTM, which drew nearly 10,000 people to its Karachi rally on Sunday, was founded in January in protest against alleged extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detention and “disappearances” of young Pashtun men. Leaders of the emerging movement have blamed Pakistan’s military for these abuses, in an unusually direct challenge to the country’s most powerful institution. Now, PTM’s activists themselves have started disappearing, according to Mohsin Dawar, one of the movement’s leaders. Ironies of ironies . But wait, why does someone not send a "Tweet " to Suo Moto CJP Nisar . He took "note" of the indiscriminate killings of the Hazaras and at least "ordered them" not to kill Hazaras !!!
PTM organizers again blame the powerful military, saying the movement’s growing popularity in major cities, even amid a local media blackout, has left the security forces feeling threatened. The military’s press wing did not respond to requests for comment on the allegations. In the past, the army has said it does not detain individuals without evidence. :((
In the past month, PTM says dozens of its activists have been detained across the country, while newspaper columnists have had articles on PTM rejected. Some students and academics say they have been threatened and universities forced to call off talks about Pashtun inequality.
In the week leading up to the Karachi protest, PTM’s leadership said Rangers and unidentified security officials detained and interrogated more than 100 of its supporters and kept nearly 30 workers in custody. That is a huge 30% !
“The amount they are trying to stop us, it shows they are scared,” student activist Manzoor Pashteen, who has become the face of the movement, told Reuters. “I don’t think they know they are our guardians, their behavior is that of criminals.” As one noted Nobel Prize Laurette has observed in his seminal work on the Islamic Republic, Pakistan is a BIG CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE not a nation by any definition !
“The amount they are trying to stop us, it shows they are scared,” student activist Manzoor Pashteen, who has become the face of the movement, told Reuters. “I don’t think they know they are our guardians, their behavior is that of criminals.” At this time, the movement is peaceful. Who knows what will happen if these reasonable demands are not discussed !
Many of Pakistan’s 30 million ethnic Pashtun’s hail originally from the borderlands with Afghanistan, where the Pakistani Taliban controlled swathes of territory until they were pushed out by military operations in 2009 and 2014. PTM leaders say they do not want to challenge the government or undermine security, but complain Pashtuns - many of whom have moved to the cities to escape a near-decade long insurgency by Islamist militants - are unfairly targeted and suffer abuses at the hands of security forces in the name of fighting terrorism. As Modi-ji has said, there should be no distinction between Good Terrorists ( The Taliban And The Haqqanis !) and the Bad Terrorists ( TTP ) !
In April, a week before PTM was due to stage a rally in Lahore, Habib University in Karachi and the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) called off talks related to Pashtun rights organized by students and academics. On the morning of the talks, both universities received calls from security officials, including representatives of Pakistan’s spy agency the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), telling them to cancel the discussions, faculty members said.“Calls were made to the administration as well as in-person visits from people who identified themselves as ISI,” said a LUMS professor. “I received a call and was told to refrain from anti-military activity.”Officials from the ISI did not respond to a request for comment.
At Habib University, the administration received visits from security officials and a call on the morning the lecture was due to take place, three different faculty members said. Representatives from LUMS and Habib University did not respond to requests for comment.
Karachi is where the killing of a young Pashtun, Naqeebullah Mehsud, by police in January sparked nationwide peaceful demonstrations about Pashtun rights, from which PTM emerged. Organizers say they attempted to contract vendors to supply chairs, a stage, and a sound system for the rally, but none of the equipment was delivered. One vendor, who asked not to be identified, told Reuters he received a call after meeting PTM members. “They said that if even one candle was delivered to the rally, my body would never be found,” he said. Such strong arm tactics are sure to backfire in this day and age of social media and globalization. It seems that the Paki Establishment has not learned a lesson from the 1971 breakeup of the "original Pakistan"

"Terrorists" - Specially In Quetta ! Are Getting Bolder Day By Day

FC personnel kill 5 suspected suicide bombers who attacked Madadgar Centre in Quetta
Security personnel on Thursday killed five suspected suicide bombers as they foiled a terrorist attack on Frontier Corps’ Madadgar Centre in Quetta, the military’s media wing reported.According to Inter-Services Public Relations, “an explosive and ammunition-laden vehicle” with five would-be suicide bombers — apparently Afghan nationals — tried to enter the FC Madadgar Centre, but security forces retaliated quickly and engaged the attackers."The failed terrorism attempt was a response to the killing of key terrorists in Kili Almas last night,” said ISPR. Remember, this is the ISPR version, which in most likelihood is incorrect
Meanwhile, four FC personnel were injured in the attack which occurred in Survey 31 area near Chaman Housing Society in Quetta. So, it is a multi pronged attack !
Emergency and rescue teams were dispatched to the site of the attack. Following the attack, an emergency was imposed in hospitals in Quetta. The security forces cordoned off the incident site and a search operation has been launched in the area. There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
It's the second act of terrorism to take place in the country today. Earlier, at least 12 people, including six security forces personnel, were injured in a suicide blast apparently targeting an FC vehicle in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Are the Balochis teaming up with the Pakhtuns
Balochistan has experienced incidents of violence and targeted killings for over a decade. In recent months, the province has faced a number of security challenges, ( British understatement  ) with security personnel in the province often being targeted in roadside explosions and suicide attacks.

Century ! (Almost,. but getting there).

Pakistan’s external debt soars to record $91.8b
Pakistan’s external debt and liabilities have soared to a record $91.8 billion, showing an increase of over 50% or nearly $31 billion in the past four years and nine months, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has reported.
the figure may touch $100 billion very soon as the country faces grave challenges in meeting growing external financing requirements
Pakistan is scheduled to make some bullet :D debt and interest payments in the last quarter (April-June) of the current fiscal year
The $91.8-billion external debt and liabilities were higher by $30.9 billion or 50.6% compared to the level recorded in June 2013
It was an alarming situation and the government did not have a concrete back-up plan to handle its external account, said sources in the finance ministry. They said the top bureaucracy of the ministry was not very much concerned and it was just a routine matter for them.
Pakistan’s gross official foreign currency reserves as of May 4 stood at only $11.16 billion.

Foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) again came under pressure, falling 3.26% on a weekly basis, according to data released by the central bank on Thursday.
The SBP gave no reason for the decline in reserves.
Overall, liquid foreign reserves held by the country, including net reserves held by banks other than the SBP, stood at $17,067 million. Net reserves held by banks amounted to $6,268.1 million
Earlier, the SBP received $350 million under the Coalition Support Fund (CSF).

Ganja Is Queering The Pitch For His Brother Shahbaaz

Nawaz Sharif vow to continue "suicide mission"
May 17, 2018
ISLAMABAD - Nawaz Sharif had spurned Shehbaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s requests aimed at relinquishing aggressive tone and restraining from confrontation with state-institutions.Shehbaz Sharif and Khaqan Abbasi had arrived at Punjab House to pacify Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo.
Nawaz asserted that neither he had done anything evil nor he had stated anything [in the interview] which stood against the facts. “If I suffer any political loss on basis of this interview then I’m ready for the consequences”, stated Sharif. Sharif made it overtly clear on the PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi that he would carry forward same narrative in the general polls 2018 while asserting that the same would become party’s prowess. He is going to teach a lesson to the Deep State
On the other hand, both PM and Punjab CM apprised Nawaz that his remarks pertaining to 26/11 Mumbai attacks had tarnished party’s image whereas public opinion had drastically shifted against PML-N [following interview with Dawn’s Cyril Almeida].
Strained by the evolving situation and dramatic turns of events, Punjab CM warned his elder brother that several lawmakers were ready to join ranks of foes citing the aforementioned interview. Premier also warned supremo that such statements would only bring harm to none other than incumbent government.
Maybe, this kind of reporting is gossip mongering and creating an impression of discord between the two brothers !
Sharif—after hearing arguments—repudiated requests made by the senior leaders while stating that all he wanted was supremacy of parliament. “Some legislators and party’s stalwarts are being pressurized to switch loyalties while others are looking for excuses. I will not stop those who want to bid farewell”. Unless a bug , a microphone or a leaker was present, it is hard to say what is happening behind closed doors !

Pakistan’s external debt soars to record $91.8b

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s external debt and liabilities have soared to a record $91.8 billion, showing an increase of over 50% or nearly $31 billion in the past four years and nine months, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has reported.

The external debt and liabilities of $91.8 billion as of March-end suggest that the figure may touch $100 billion very soon as the country faces grave challenges in meeting growing external financing requirements. Pakistan is scheduled to make some bullet debt and interest payments in the last quarter (April-June) of the current fiscal year, according to sources in the finance ministry.

The $91.8-billion external debt and liabilities were higher by $30.9 billion or 50.6% compared to the level recorded in June 2013 when the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government came to power.

Of the total external debt and liabilities, the government’s public debt obligations including foreign exchange liabilities were $76.1 billion at the end of March.

In the past four years and nine months, the public debt-related obligations increased 42.5% or $22.7 billion, showed the central bank data. In June 2013, the external public debt including foreign exchange liabilities stood at only $53.4 billion.

A major hike came in the external debt contracted by issuing sovereign bonds and taking expensive commercial loans.

Since June 2013, the PML-N government has acquired a whopping $42.6 billion in external loans, which is taking its toll on the national exchequer due to the mounting debt servicing cost.

Starting from July 2013, with every passing year, the quantum of external debt has kept growing due to the government’s inability to implement policies that could have ensured sufficient non-debt creating inflows.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s first post-programme monitoring report shows Pakistan’s gross external debt in terms of exports was 193.2% in 2013, which is projected to deteriorate to an alarming 316% in June this year.

During this period, Pakistan’s gross external financing requirements have swelled from $17.2 billion to $24 billion.

It was an alarming situation and the government did not have a concrete back-up plan to handle its external account, said sources in the finance ministry. They said the top bureaucracy of the ministry was not very much concerned and it was just a routine matter for them.

There are apprehensions that the country may not survive financially for long without the IMF support. However, they said the finance ministry has not yet prepared a plan that it may share with the IMF in case it needs emergency support.

There are unconfirmed reports that top bureaucracy of the finance ministry may be reshuffled very soon.

The IMF report noted that the bound and stress tests suggest that the external debt-to-GDP ratio would be affected by adverse shocks. “While sensitive mostly to current account and exchange rate shocks, the external debt ratio would exceed 45% only under the real depreciation shock scenario,” it added.

Pakistan’s gross official foreign currency reserves as of May 4 stood at only $11.16 billion. The government took no time in eating up the entire $1 billion Chinese loan received on the second last day of the previous month.

The gross official foreign currency reserves of $11.16 billion include loans of $6.13 billion the central bank has acquired from domestic banks to shore up its reserves. By excluding these short-term borrowings, the reserves are almost at the level recorded in June 2013.

Owing to the huge domestic and foreign borrowings, debt servicing is now the single largest expenditure in the federal budget, estimated at Rs1.62 trillion or 30.7% for the next fiscal year 2018-19. A sum of $5 billion was spent on servicing the outstanding stock of external debt in just nine months of the ongoing fiscal year, according to the central bank. The country paid $3.52 billion in principal loans and $1.44 billion in interest on outstanding loans.

In its Debt Policy Statement 2017-18, which the finance ministry presented to the lower house of parliament early this year, the government admitted that during the last fiscal year the country’s external debt increased at a faster pace than its foreign exchange earnings.

Pakistan’s external debt as a percentage of foreign exchange reserves increased to a three-year high. Similarly, the cost of external debt servicing as a percentage of foreign exchange earnings increased significantly.

Annexation of Gilgit Baltistan is almost complete and not a whimper of protest from the so called libertards. That's a crying shame. Not a word from the Indian government either. This is happening right under everyone's eyes and nothing is being done about it. This should be enough reason for war. Wars have broken out for less (recall WWI?)

Storm in Gilgit-Baltistan
a highly controversial scheme of constitutional reforms for Gilgit-Baltistan
a lack of consultation with the people concerned is writ large on the document
it does not raise GB to the status of a province of Pakistan
The most significant features of the new order are:
The government of Pakistan will oversee the management of Gilgit-Baltistan affairs through the federal prime minister instead of the GB Council as hitherto.
The prime minister will perform in relation to GB the functions assigned to the president of Pakistan. He will have the power to make laws for GB and a law made by him will override a law made by the territory’s legislature, now called GB Assembly, after deletion of the word ‘legislative’ from its title.
All Pakistanis recognised by the Pakistan Citizenship Act of 1951 as well as residents and those holding GB domicile will be citizens of the area (the only word used to describe GB, as the word ‘province’ is never used for it). This definition of citizenship will give Pakistanis from outside GB significant advantages over the natives.
The order incorporates the fundamental rights (with additional constraints on the right to freedom of association and deletion of the reference to freedom of the press from the article on freedom of expression)
Also incorporated are the articles from the Constitution of Pakistan dealing with the definition of a voter and the election of members of the assembly
The GB assembly shall not discuss “matters relating to foreign affairs, defence, and internal security
No citizen of GB is likely to become the chief judge of the Supreme Appellate Court because only retired judges of Pakistan’s Supreme Court and retired chief justices of high courts of Pakistan are eligible.
Another complaint is that the constitutional reform committee did not heed the GB Assembly’s request of March 15 last for taking its members into confidence before finalizing its recommendations.

ISLAMABAD: Former Chief of Army Staff General Mirza Aslam Beg has claimed that he had vehemently warned the then spy chief Lt Gen Asad Durrani against dragging the military into "political engineering" ahead of the 1990 elections. The startling revelations came as part of his statement to a team of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) probing the alleged distribution of estimated Rs148 crores among politicians to pollute the 1990 polls in the country.

“I called [General] Asad Durrani and warned him to be careful in the handling of those [ISI] funds. After this, I never again discussed this matter with him [Durrani]. I gave him no names of politicians or the money to be distributed, because this was entirely his domain, and he was responsible to report to the president,” Gen Beg revealed in his written statement submitted to the FIA and the apex court.

“Durrani violated the army’s rule by opening several accounts in the name of 202 Survey Section, placed under his command for operational intelligence purposes only. I came to know of this breach of trust, only in 1996 when he so deposed in his affidavit before the Supreme Court. I have had no knowledge who all operated this account. I knew Brig Hamid Saeed as operation commander 202 Survey Section and not as the ISI account holder and funds distributor to the politicians. He [Durrani] claims to have distributed funds, and recorded in his handwritten notes as proof, which have no legality. Similarly, Durrani claims having distributed funds, with no witnesses, no written or verbal proof of such transactions. It is sheer lie. Durrani involved 202 Survey Section in this game intentionally, to involve the army in his sordid deed, so unbecoming of an officer of his rank,” added Beg's statement.

Beg leveled serious allegation against General Durrani by saying that he [Durrani] got so close to Pakistan People’s Party's top leadership, that “while in uniform he started attending PPP Central Executive Committee meetings, which was reported to the-then COAS, Gen Abdul Waheed, who promptly retired him from service due to fault of the officer.

"In October 1993, when Benazir Bhutto returned to power, she offered ambassadorial job to Durrani, which he accepted and before proceeding to Germany he discussed the Game Plan with her, which was revealed by Durrani himself, in his handwritten confessional letter, he wrote from Bonn to the Prime Minister. In this letter, he talked about the two objectives of the conspiracy: To put Gen Beg on the mat and target the opposition,” Beg further accused Durrani.

In this letter, Durrani also gave names of few politicians, who received Rs8.0 million, while the remaining Rs6.0 million were given to Director External Intelligence (ISI), Beg further revealed. “He [Durrani] further said that operation was in the knowledge of the army high command. As a matter of fact, the election engineering by ISI had been going on since 1975, and was in everybody's knowledge,” claimed General Beg.

General Beg continued to reveal that General Durrani after taking the charge requested me to place him under his command the 202 Survey Section deployed in Sindh for better coordination of intelligence in the province. The 202 Survey Section, commanded by Brig Hamid Saeed, was therefore placed under DG ISI for a period of one year, for intelligence purposes only, read General Beg’s statement.

The government was preparing to hold the elections, when army intelligence informed him that on orders of the President’s Election Cell, Younis Habib had placed some funds at the disposal of ISI, for the logistic support of the coming elections, said the 88-year-old General.

“I therefore called on the President and gave him the news which he already knew and said don’t worry, Durrani will take care of it. He knows how to handle it. The President gave me no orders because his election cell was handling those matters,” General Beg said adding, “he [Durrani] was not reporting to me either, because, a new procedure was being followed since 1975, when PM Zulfikar Ali Bhutto through a special notification gave 'political responsibility to ISI. And this ‘political responsibility’ was never challenged by a court of law. That was the reason that from 1990 to 1994 there was a total blank for me about ‘ISI political responsibility.'”

Beg also recalled that it was July 1994, PPP Interior Minister Maj Gen (retd) Nasirullah Babar broke the news of disbursement of funds to the politicians in 1990 on the floor of the House. “I was shocked and surprised, but couldn't inquire about it either, because, Durrani was posted as ambassador to Germany and the 151-HQ at Islamabad held no record of such transactions,” General said. Asghar Khan filed the writ petiton against me, with the Supreme Court of Pakistan, ex COAS revealed that the proceedings started, revealing what all had happened curing the intervening period 1990-1996.

“I discovered that: it was a conspiracy hatched by the then director FIA Rehman Malik, at behest of Benazir Bhutto, which carried grudge against me, for several reasons: (i) since I was a close associate of General Ziaul Haq, who hanged her father, she considered me equally guilty. (ii) she believed that I supported President Ishaq Khan who dismissed her government in 1990. (iii) she blamed me for manipulating the elections 1991,” the retired general claimed.

How personal grudge of Benazir Bhutto turned into revenge, General Beg told in his statement that Benazir's grudge was shaping into conspiracy and executed, as a 'woman's vendetta.' In fact, since 1988, when she took-over as the Prime Minister, she continued to show her dislike for me, said Beg adding Rehman Malik cultivated relationships with Durrani, while he was the DG ISI (Aug 1990 to March 1992). Once Nasirullah Babar, General Beg revealed, made public list beneficiaries in the National Assembly in July 1994, Durrani got very upset at this breach of trust, and expressed his disappointment in his affidavit of 31-10-1997 submitted with the court later, added the statement. A few weeks later Mr. Rehman Malik visited Germany, the second time, with a typed letter, containing the list of alleged recipients of ISI funds, which Gen Durrani signed the letter "under special circumstances," i.e., under duress, because it was not the list he had given to PM Benazir Bhutto. However, that was the quid-pro-quo, for accepting the ambassadorial assignment, revealed General Beg.

35pc drop in mango production feared :D
Acute water shortage — which may cause 35 per cent decline in mango production this year — as well as global warming and small size of the fruit are major concerns for exporters.
Along with low production, the smaller size of Pakistani mangoes is also a cause of great concern for exporters, Patron-in-chief All Pakistan Fruits and Vegetables Exporters, Importers and Merchants Association (PFVA), Waheed Ahmed said.
the wholesale price of mango is expected to increase from Rs2,400 to Rs3,000 per 40 kg.
Queries are pouring in from Chinese buyers and hopefully 500-1,000 tonnes may be shipped to China this year.
SeePack to the rescue! Mango abduls are happy.

Terroristan - April 24, 2018

Investors face 35pc loss in stock value over the year

THE Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has been quietly celebrating its undeclared status as the best performing market in the region in 2018 year-to-date.

Up to May 4, the return for CY2018 dished out by the local bourse was 10 per cent. The returns disbursed by other markets paled in comparison as most markets grew below three per cent: India and Malaysia 2.5pc and Sri Lanka 2.2pc.

But, showcasing the performance for a little over four months of 2018 portrays a misleading picture. Over the last year since the KSE-100 Index hit an all-time high of 53,123 points on May 25, 2017, the Index has tanked 9,267 points to close trading last Thursday at 43,856 points.

Last Thursday, the Index managed to find a foothold and climb a bit to snap a seven day losing streak, but that still leaves the KSE-100 Index with a loss of 17pc over the course of a year (based on the average loss calculated on the 100 shares that comprise the benchmark KSE-100 Index).

Local individual and institutional investors who have front row seats in the public acrimony between political rivals have jettisoned shares and are running for cover in risk-free investments

Looking at the price erosion in numerous stocks over the year, it is easy to conclude that investors have been ruined. Calculations by this writer show that average loss on most stocks this past year still stand at an alarming 35pc — twice the loss of 17pc represented in KSE-100 stocks.

For the comparison of investors’ return, it is pertinent to draw an analogy between the share prices of a sample of individual stocks over a year — from May 25, 2017 (the index peak) to the current levels.

Most low-priced shares have been favourites of small savers and the volume leaders on most trading days. With almost a half of their savings gone, it is the small investor who has yet again taken the brunt of the blow. (See table)

But if the PSX was striding forward even in the first four months of the current calendar year, the winning streak was snapped by the announcement of the federal budget on April 27; surprising all.

In order to present a populist budget, Finance Minister Miftah Ismail bent over backwards announcing incentives and tax exemptions which the PSX had been clamouring for over the past four years. The package for the capital market was loaded with tax incentives and exemptions.

The budget 2018-19 decreed reduction in corporate tax by one per cent for the next five years to scale it down to 25pc by the end of financial year 2023; phasing out the currently levied super tax at three per cent for companies and four per cent for banks by one per cent every year, and restoration of the major exemption of tax at five per cent on bonus shares.

At the conclusion of the budget speech, market participants showered praise on Mr Ismail for offering what they termed was a “market friendly” budget. And yet the market extended a cool response.

Image

In the seven trading sessions since the announcement of the budget, until last Wednesday, the market went on a losing streak with the KSE-100 Index poorer by 1,748 points, wiping out nearly four per cent of the year’s gains.

Disappointed market gurus started to find fault with the budget. Ignoring the massive incentives, the non-restoration of slab-wise regime of capital gains tax (CGT) and the status quo on tax on cash dividends was blamed for the market fall.

But investors’ worries have more to do with corresponding uncertainties: the balance of payments situation and the weakened growth outlook for Pakistan by the International Monetary Fund which revised the GDP growth rate down from 5.6pc to 4.7pc for FY19.

And above all, the bounties lavished in the budget were eclipsed by investors’ fear over the heated political atmosphere as the date for the appointment of a caretaker government followed by the general elections approaches.

Although most brokerage houses tend to mention the politically charged atmosphere in the country simply as “noise on the political front”, so as to keep their foreign clients pacified, the local individual and institutional investors who see the extent of the acrimony between political rivals, have jettisoned shares and are running for cover in risk-free investments.

Male Harassment In The Paki "Fashion Industry " , Otherwise Known As Male Gay Club, Rears Its Ugly Head In The Islamic Republic Of Pakistan . Contrary To Sharia Laws

Model Mujahid Rasool accuses photographer of sexual harassment, calls out misconduct in fashion industry
Model Mujahid Rasool has come forward on Instagram to call out a culture of harassment in the fashion industry, specifically the exploitation of male talent by male gatekeepers. ( Pashtun Chowidars  )
In a series of posts using the hashtag #MeToo, the model said: "I have been struggling this field for 7-8 years which has been an experience full of harassment."
He explained: "'I have my own conditions! 'Can we meet alone?' 'Show me your n*** pictures!' ... These type of statements have to be faced by me since the day I am struggling in this media industry and I am more than 100% sure that I am not alone in this case, there could be many more out there." Can they risk coming out of the (gay) closet in the Islamic Republic
Rasool shared screenshots of unnamed persons contacting him with an opportunity for work, albeit with 'conditions' attached. The screen shots can be seen below and on Instagram.
"Evidence" is shown below :
Image
"The screenshots I've shared are from a famous designer and from a content head at a major production house in Karachi," says Rasool.
"It's been years since I've been facing this," says Rasool. "Everyone knows that this is the reality of the industry but no one wants to talk about it. I know I'm at a nascent stage in my career right now. I know that after this I might not get work. But this is something that needs to be addressed. Maybe change won't come right now, maybe change will come after 10 years or 20 years. But I hope my post can help or protect a young boy who wants to enter the field of entertainment. Harassers should know that victims will not stay silent anymore, they will speak out."When asked about whether he's received criticism from his peers for speaking out, Rasool says: "I have received a backlash. I've got so many messages in my inbox saying, 'You could have just privately said no, why did you have to make it public.'"
Bacha Baazi is still "technically illegal" in Pakiland , but there is a thriving market specially in KP Province, ruled by Imran Khan's PTI Party !
Rasool's posts come just weeks after musician and actor Meesha Shafi accused pop singer Ali Zafar of sexual misconduct, marking what was arguably the first instance of a high-profile celebrity publicly accusing a peer of harassment in Pakistan. Fellow models and actors have since started to share Rasool's post and have commented on it publicly. Model Rehmat Ajmal commented on the post urging Rasool to name and shame those whose screenshots he shared. Meesha Shafi has showed her support on Twitter as well.
Has Rasool, the male model, considered a "foreign career" . He should seriously consider this option, where his "modeling career" will surely thrive !

Imran Khan And His PTI Party Accused Of Perpetuating Feudalism In Pakistan !

Feudalism alive and well in Pakistan
Image
Landlords such as Jahangir Tareen (left), seen here with Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf leader Imran Khan, took control of thousands of hectares of land with the help of military dictatorships
Large swathes of Pakistan are in the stranglehold of a caricatured feudalism. Feudal relations in Pakistan are increasingly penetrated by finance capital as it imposes itself on social relations, politics and the economy. This has made the lives of millions miserable, deepening and brutalising class exploitation.Rampant inequality and poverty remain chronic issues. Millions are still subjected to bonded labour. Such a harrowing situation is revealed by the fact that only 5% of agricultural households in Pakistan own nearly two thirds of the farmland. In the Indian subcontinent, the system prevailing before the advent of the British was known as the Asiatic mode of production, or as Karl Marx put it, “Asiatic despotism”. The land was not privately owned; there was common ownership of agricultural land. In this sense it was egalitarian.
Feudalism was imposed by British imperialists through the Permanent Settlements Act. “Classical” feudalism, of the sort that existed in Europe, never existed. The Permanent Settlement Act was introduced first in Bengal and Bihar by the East India Company’s administrative head. It was extended in 1793 by Governor General Lord Cornwallis over northern India in a series of regulations. The British colonialists bestowed vast tracts of land mainly to the revenue collectors to raise land revenue. This grafted native Indians onto the British structure, ensuring their loyalty. After the partition of India in 1947 that created Pakistan, this class, along with the comprador capitalists, became Pakistan’s hybrid ruling class. In this way, Pakistan was suspended in a hybrid model of feudal and capitalist relations.
Nehru abolished the zamindari system in India. Pakistan, to date has retained the Zamindari system. The zamindari system is responsible for producing politicians like Z.A. Bhutto, Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif. The MQM Party main demand is to ban the Zamindari system !
The new feudal owners, like Jahangir Tareen of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf party, now own thousands of hectares of land. He has become a typical feudalist: a “well-educated” person who, with the help of military dictators, was able to also buy sugar mills. It is a vulgar combination of feudalism and capitalism.
Land ownership links feudal lords to various other patronage networks. They act as religious patron saints to thousands of peasants, who loyally vote for their lords in elections. The army is also deeply entrenched in this hybrid economy, particularly in the manufacturing and services sector. The army’s top ranks are part of the landed aristocracy, amassing vast landed estates. Army officers are bequeathed agricultural lands for their service, which are often rented out to larger landowners. In Punjab alone, nearly 30,000 hectares of agricultural land are directly or indirectly occupied by the Military Farms administration.
The Army has also entered the "feudal busines" Mush and Raheel Sharif have been alloted choice farm lands in the name of "service to Pakiland !
One of the most daring examples of peasant resistance has come from the tenants of the Okara Military Farms. They have constantly fought for their land rights over the past 18 years. However, repression against them has continued.
The task of ending feudalism and attaining rights for poor peasants can be accomplished through a class struggle by workers and peasants. Such a struggle, by overthrowing this system through a socialist revolution, can ensure the basic rights and collective ownership of the land, means of production and democratic control of the state and society by the toiling masses.

Nawaz, the ‘traitor’

Its not that Mr Sharif has not given the ‘designers’ and the willing media enough paint to colour him jet black with the disreputable epitaph

Some nations produce great thinkers, others great scientists, even others great quantities of food grains. But we as a nation have specialised in producing traitors in great numbers. It has become a favourite pastime of ours. We do it so consistently and so regularly that at least one traitor is born in our midst almost every other political season and that too at the drop of a hat.

It does not take ‘us’ much to designate as traitors those whose politics are seen to undermine ‘our’ political interests. Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, Fazlul Haq, Ghaffar Khan, Shero Marri, Akbar Bugti, ZA Bhutto, his daughter, Benazir Bhutto — the list is too long.

Currently it is Mr Nawaz Sharif who has been placed on this dishonourable pedestal. The media is having a field day. Part of the media is doing it willingly with an eye on its financial margins, others not-so-willingly and some others are doing it in the belief that they are contributing to a genuine national cause and saving the country in the process from certain disaster.

Not that Mr Sharif has not given the ‘designers’ and the willing media enough paint to colour him jet black with the disreputable epitaph.

‘Dawnleaks’ is back in the media debate adding to the non-existent grenades discovered in a particular quote of Mr Sharif from his May 12 interview published in Dawn.

It was in the interest of the Indian government and its media to interpret the quote in question the way that suited their vested interest, especially the part where Nawaz says ‘…,should we allow them…?’. It was a rhetorical question, but the Indians interpreted the ‘we’ to mean that the former PM was admitting that the state of Pakistan had allowed the terrorists to go and carry out the Mumbai mayhem.

The full quote reads as follows: “Militant organisations are active. Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai? Explain it to me. Why can’t we complete the trial?”

Instead of taking the quote on its face value or doing its own interpretation of the quote seemingly an ‘inspired’ part of our media immediately agreed with the Indian reading of the quote and went to town with talk-shows chanting gleefully ‘traitor, traitor!’

It was a clear case of misquoting of the quote and that is what both Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said while explaining what Nawaz had meant. But their quotes instead were deliberately misread to mean that the newspaper which published the interview had misquoted the former premier. That was probably why Nawaz had to insist later in the day that he stood by his quotes as published in Dawn.

For an answer to another rhetorical question that Nawaz had asked in the interview (‘Why can’t we complete the trial?’) one need not go beyond what former DG FIA, Tariq Khosa who was closely involved in the investigation of the case had said in one of his articles published in Dawn on August 3, 2015 Mumbai attacks trial - Tariq Khosa - Former DG, FIA : Terroristan

“Pakistan has to deal with the Mumbai mayhem, planned and launched from its soil. This requires facing the truth and admitting mistakes. The entire state security apparatus must ensure that the perpetrators and masterminds of the ghastly terror attacks are brought to justice. The case has lingered on for far too long. Dilatory tactics by the defendants, frequent change of trial judges, and assassination of the case prosecutor as well as retracting from original testimony by some key witnesses have been serious setbacks for the prosecutors. However, cognizance was taken by the Islamabad High Court which directed the trial to be concluded within two months.” Two months? It is now here years since that ruling of Islamabad High Court.

And here is a pertinent quote from Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s presentation at the Munich Security Conference early this year: “I apologise for a long lesson on history, but while it is history for you, it is still very much a live issue for us back home, as fairly large no. of people is radicalised, armed and empowered politically and ideologically. They cannot be wished away, just because we don’t like them anymore. We are harvesting what we sowed 40 years back. So it will be a while before this scourge is eliminated in totality — but first, let’s stop calling it Jihadism as it is nothing else but terrorism.”

One of course, would not be too unhappy to see Nawaz Sharif being designated as a traitor but those who are identifying him as such would have to prove their allegation in a court of law and not by simply obtaining the desired verdict through a shrill media trail. And not even by the National Security Committee’s rejection and denunciation of Nawaz Sharif’s ‘claims’ which the NSC has spurned as ‘incorrect’, ‘misleading’ and ‘fallacious’.

On the few occasions during the past 70 years of our existence ‘we’ had dared take to the courts some of those among the scores of traitors ‘we’ had produced, the law of the land had invariably found them to be more patriotic than the accusers themselves.

What is too funny in this context is, only about a couple of years back ‘we’ had made PEMRA suspend the license of a leading broadcast media organisation for just 15 days and imposed a fine of Rs 10 million on being found ‘guilty’ of indulging in ‘anti-state activities’ on the complaint of the defence ministry of government of Pakistan.

‘We’ do find traitors at every turn of our political corners and anti-state activists behind ever suspicious looking political bush. But when it comes to proving ‘our’ accusations the prosecution fails miserably to take such cases to the desired logical conclusion for obvious reasons.

'Pakistan is both the victim and sponsor of terrorism,' says Pentagon spokesperson
Pentagon Chief Spokesperson Dana W. White, while briefing the media on Thursday, said that Pakistan being both a "victim as well as a sponsor of terrorism" can do more about regional security.
"So we look to Pakistan to create more opportunities to secure the region."

The "New And Improved" Image Of PIA "Crashes"

Passengers in tears as PIA’s online system crashes
RAWALPINDI – Passengers who booked flights with the national carrier were left stranded at the airports on Friday after the online system of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) crashed all over the country. The process of issuing boarding cards to passengers at the airports came to a halt due to system’s failure, Dunya News reported.
The bug in the system also caused a delay in domestic and international flights, reducing the passengers in tears. According to PIA officials, efforts are being made to debug the system and restore services all over the country.
In January, the PIA’s online ticket booking system broke down on, leaving the national carrier to suffer loss in sale of tickets and delay in flights.
The SABER, a US-based airline ticket booking system, had been down for hours and boarding passes were issued manually to passengers.
According to a PIA spokesperson, the ticket booking system’s link went down for a couple of hours which later rectified by the SABER operator.
It is pertinent to note that this Paki National Carrier recently underwent a massive "image makeover" paying millions of dollars to a Hong kong outfitter to re-design a new uniform for their female and male crew. Not to speak of getting their aeroplanes re painted with the new logo ( Markhor Sheep !). No less than the CJP of Pakiland criticized the management for this extra-ordinary show of extravagance at Public Expense . Ultimately it all boils down to the famous dictum that if the product is bad ( PIA or for that matter Pakistan ! ) no amount of PR-giri is going to fix it ! IMO this is the case here.

Mr. Ghafoor said that there is a process in Pakistan for anyone to participate in politics. “The Election Commission of Pakistan has its rules and laws,” he said. “If he (Hafiz Saeed) fulfills all those requirements that is for ECP to decide.” With a "wink and a nod" from ISI .And the pretense of an "open democracy"

Department of Defense Press Briefing by Pentagon Chief Spokesperson Dana W. White in the Pentagon Briefing Room
Press Operations

Pentagon Chief Spokesperson Dana W. White; Colonel Rob Manning, Director, Defense Press Office
May 17, 2018 ………………………

Q: Well, one thing (inaudible) for a long time, not only the people of Afghanistan but also the -- the president and other officials in Pakistan -- in Afghanistan, they have been saying that Pakistan is behind all those strikes.

Is the U.S. listening them all this?

MS. WHITE: We believe that Pakistan can certainly do more with respect to regional security. It can certainly do more with respect to security within Afghanistan, and we would look to them and hope that they would both help, because they are both victims of terrorism and they've also sponsored terrorism.

So we look to Pakistan to create more opportunities to secure the region.

Q: And second, then, as far as terrorism in India is concerned, it's not surprising that, now, the former prime minister of Pakistan, Mr. Nawaz Sharif, on television, he made a -- an remark that Pakistan was behind all those attacks against India, in India, and Mumbai attacks and it was confirmed earlier by former president, Mr. -- Pakistan's former president.

And he said that Pakistan was always supporting terrorism against India. Now, where do we stand now? Because high officials, president and the prime minister -- of course, former -- now, they are claiming that Pakistan is supporting terrorism against India.

MS. WHITE: Again, this is an inflection point for Pakistan. Pakistan has decisions to make, and we hope that they will be a partner in safeguarding the region.

Violating Rules Once Again ! Someone should fetch a Ruler And Measure The Six Inch Distance

“All students are hereby directed to strictly abide by the dress code while in the university. Instructions have been issued for the disciplinary action against the violators as per the rules,” the notification reads.“Male and female students are to maintain a distance of at least 06 inches while sitting/standing together”, the notification added. The educational institution warned the students of heavy fines if they violated the rules. All HODs and security staff members are directed to ensure the implementation of directives.
Going by the above, I guess talking with each other and "touching" is most probably not Sharia Compliant as well

This guy was acting smart and had posed some uncomfortable questions to Hamid Gul during an interview. Shortly thereafter he got the famous army/ISI treatment and he has been their mouthpiece ever since.

Pakistan puts off tax concession for Chinese operator of Gwadar Port

ISLAMABAD: The government on Thursday deferred a move to give more sweeping tax concessions to Chinese operators of Gwadar Port and its free zone amid Beijing’s reservations that Islamabad was not honouring the promise of 23-year tax holiday for the port in true spirit.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi put off approval of a summary that the Ministry of Maritime Affairs tabled in the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet for necessary exemptions for Gwadar Port and the Gwadar Free Zone.

The ECC constituted a committee to remove any anomalies in the proposed amendments to the Gwadar Port Concession Agreement, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office after the ECC meeting.

The decision to defer concessions would also save the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) as it has already tabled the amended Finance Bill 2018 in the National Assembly. More tax concessions to the Chinese will require further amendments to the bill.

The maritime ministry informed the ECC that Chinese operators of Gwadar Port were facing problems due to ambiguity in rules and laws about the nature of tax exemptions.

Three years ago, Pakistan had approved a 23-year tax holiday for the China-run Gwadar Port in an attempt to make the deep-sea Arabian port a hub of commercial activities.

The original Gwadar Port Concession Agreement was signed between the Gwadar Port Authority and Port of Singapore Authority, which the ECC approved in 2007. In February 2013, China Overseas Ports Holding Company Limited (COPHCL) took over operations of the port from the Singaporean company.

However, COPHCL contends that tax exemptions Pakistan has so far given are not “in true spirit of the tax holiday”,, said officials who have been engaged with Chinese officials.

In April 2015, the ECC decided to extend the tax holiday for Gwadar Port and the Gwadar Port Free Zone from 20 years to 23 years on an understanding that the 23-year period will come into effect from 2007.

But China has now demanded that the tax holiday should be applied from 2013 instead of 2007. This would allow Chinese firms to enjoy tax-free status till 2036, even beyond the scope of China-Pakistan Long-Term Plan of CPEC that will end in 2030.

Earlier, the three-year extension had been given on the request of COPHCL.

Gwadar Port is described as the most significant strategic pearl in China’s plan of expanding its influence in the Arabian Sea – a move that India sees as a threat to its hegemonic designs.

Industrial units to be set up in the Gwadar Free Zone, being established over an area of 46,000 acres, are already entitled to the tax holiday.

However, now COPHCL has demanded that the SROs issued to give effect to these exemptions should be “notified in proper perspective as negotiated by COPHCL while negotiating the Gwadar Port Free Zone Lease Deed, which was signed during the visit of Chinese president in April 2015.”

The Chinese company has also demanded exemption from income tax on interests that Chinese lenders will earn by giving loans for port operations, according to FBR officials. They said the FBR was not keen to give that concession.

COPHCL has demanded that the concessions available to it should also be extended to its four companies. These companies are China Overseas Ports Holding Company Pakistan Private Limited, Gwadar International Terminals Limited, Gwadar Marine Services Limited and Gwadar Free Zone Company Limited.

Sources said PM Abbasi wanted the decision on further concessions to be left to the new government. The FBR was of the view that in order to give legal cover to the concessions, amendments would be required in the Income Tax Ordinance, which can be done next year.

Despite securing exemption from sales tax on local purchases by the Chinese companies operating in the Gwadar zone, the Chinese are now demanding sales tax exemption for imports made by the Chinese firms.

The Chinese have also sought sales tax and customs duty exemption for the supply of diesel, petrol and other petroleum products for 40 years.

The government has given massive customs duty exemption to COPHCL and its subsidiary companies. Against the previously approved exemption on ships used in the port and terminals, the maritime ministry on Thursday demanded customs duty exemption for all visiting ships including foreign and local fishing vessels at Gwadar Port.

It has already got customs duty exemption for all businesses to be established in the Gwadar Free Zone. COPHCL now wants to set up a duty-free shop in the zone.

If only the ilon blothels start earning their interest, income and capital gains in renminbi, then there will no need to even ask for any tax concessions. Wait, wasn't that the idea behind the hans insisting on their currency being the only currency in circulation at g'waadaar?

Diabolical!
