CJP orders preemptive action against cable operators likely to 'air obscene content on Eid'
Thought police in action!
Chief Justice Saqib Nisar on Saturday issued orders for preemptive action to be taken within two days against all cable operators broadcasting foreign media
there are currently 38 licensed entertainment TV channels in Pakistan out of which 23 regularly air foreign content
"Hum TV airs Indian shows all day long"
"The cable operators also show Indian movies the entire day"
the cable operators always obtain stay orders from the high court

The Sindhis Do Not Trust The Pakjabis Who Are Notorious For Stealing "Their" Indus Water . Now The Pakjabi Chairman Of Paki WAPDA Comes Up With A "Comprise Solution"

WAPDA chief calls for giving Kalabagh dam’s control to Sindh
The Express Tribune
ISLAMABAD: While voicing concern over the country’s low water storage capacity that has sparked a crisis, the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) chairman has proposed that operational control of the controversial Kalabagh dam should be handed over to Sindh in order to address reservations about its share in water consumption.
Briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Water Resources, chaired by Senator Shamim Afridi, Wapda chief Muzzamil Hussain said Pakistan had a water storage capacity for only 30 days of consumption whereas India had reserves for 170 days.
They are comparing Pakiland with India , once again :-?
“Kalabagh dam should be built with consensus of all political parties,” he emphasised. “Reservations of Sindh are justified and operations of Kalabagh dam should be handed over to the province if the dam is built.”He pointed out that Sindh had reservations that Punjab would consume its water share from the dam.Senator Gianchand ( A "token" Hindu at the decision making table to give the impression of the robustness of Paki politics  ) pointed out that there was no political consensus on building the Kalabagh dam, therefore, no discussion should be held on the subject.
Senator Quratulain Marri said the inter-provincial Council of Common Interests (CCI) failed to reach consensus on building the dam, therefore, the project was abandoned.
The Wapda chairman underscored the need for arriving at a political consensus for building mega dams and setting the price of water.
The building of the Kishanganga and other dams, allowed under the IWT has really rattled the Pakis, coupled with Pakis "wasting" their water and "sleeping" when they should have been building dams
He estimated that 25 million acre feet of water was being wasted every year because of lack of storages. Tarbela Dam has so far lost its 30% water storage capacity. He opposed the planting of sugarcane crop that required excessive water and suggested that only those crops should be cultivated that needed low water supply.
The day is not too far off when they will be "begging" India - in the name of humanity - to feed their "hungry and thirsty " awaam
He revealed that 50% of water was being wasted in the agriculture sector, adding a telemetry system installed in Punjab for calculating and restricting water consumption had been destroyed. The situation was the same in Sindh as well, members of the committee said, where water was being wasted while planting different crops.
Hussain said water storage capacity of Tarbela and Mangla dams had gone down with the passage of time.
Citing India’s example, he said the neighbour had built 943 dams to store water for 170 days whereas Pakistan had 155 small and big dams with storage capacity for only 30 days. Calling water theft a big challenge, he underlined the need for building mega dams to enhance the country’s water storage capacity.
The Wapda chairman suggested that the Indus Waters Treaty had some weak points, so efforts were required to improve the agreement. He asked the government to adopt an aggressive policy and make the treaty part of Pakistan’s foreign policy  wtf does he mean by this ? Probably wants to involve third parties ! Wants to make it the "new Kashmir" thing
The Wapda chairman revealed that 921 appointments were made in the National Engineering Services of Pakistan (Nespak) on political grounds in violation of the merit policy that destroyed the engineering firm. He called for stopping such hiring to ensure efficiency and smooth working.
Good news is on the way .See Pakistan Army Chief chairs board meeting of newly established University of Technology This meeting hopefully will ensure that "sifarish appointments" will not be abused as before
He was of the view that Pakistan had a dearth of consultants and they were compelled to hire services of foreign firms. ( not onlee in this matter, but in other matters as well ! )

Continuing my scanning of popular entertainment as a metric for India's cultural dominance of Pakistan and its implications for an independent Islamic identity, this one film is also banned in Pakistan, https://tribune.com.pk/story/1694960/4- ... g-trailer/

It is remarkable how an Indian film trailer gets Pakistanis excited. I'm sure this flick will be in high demand by the Aam Abdul for a particular scene-as they smite themselves they will be no doubt be moaning "I hate India".

"Soft Coup" Has Already Happened :D

Pakistan’s soft coup
By Jon Boone
June 8, 2018
ust a few years ago the smart thing to say about Pakistan was that the days of military coups were behind it.
“It can’t happen,” the then US ambassador to Islamabad told me in 2012. “For one thing, there are too many TV stations. Think of how many they would have to take off air!”The ambassador had in mind the coup of 1999, the last time the army helped itself to power. In those analogue days it was a cinch. A few troops motored into Islamabad and scaled the front gate of state broadcaster PTV. The country’s only television station was under army control. Job done.
Today there are so many channels it is hard to come up with an authoritative number. They broadcast in different languages and from different locations across the vast country. Curiously, it was the coup-maker himself, army chief Pervez Musharraf, who permitted rambunctious news channels to grow like Topsy. The rise of cheap, internet connected devices has opened the floodgates of social media, further adding to the difficulties of ambitious generals.
And yet Pakistan is once again in the throes of its latest military takeover.
Do not underestimate the Paki Fauj . They "own" the country instead of the other way around !
You can be forgiven for having missed it. The world’s attention has been glued to international crises elsewhere. And the takeover of 2018 is a “soft coup”. It is far slower and subtler affair than the old-school coups of 1958, 1977 and 1999. Correct !
Ostensibly the democratic set-up remains intact, with the country gearing up for general elections to be held on July 25. But although the faction of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) led by Nawaz Sharif has been in government since its landslide victory in 2013, it has not been in power for some time. It has been steadily hobbled by a military establishment that has waged guerrilla war against Sharif, preventing him from achieving his main priorities. That included an effort to put Musharraf on trial for high treason and making peace with India. Towards the end Sharif’s government was so enfeebled that the army’s spokesman was able to casually dismiss a prime ministerial directive with a Tweet.
Last July Sharif was removed from power by the Supreme Court for a minor misdemeanour: he had failed to declare a small income from one of his son’s companies which he was entitled to but did not collect. Pakistan’s activist judges are thought to have been handed that titbit by the country’s military intelligence agencies as part of a probe into the prime minister’s financial affairs.
The judiciary is in the pocket of the fauj !
harif is attempting to fight back with barnstorming rallies in his native Punjab, a key province. But he has received scant coverage from all those private television stations. Without seizing a single TV station the army has brought the entire media to heel.
Vast damage has been done to press freedom along the way. Off-message journalists have been threatened and abducted. In April the country’s biggest channel, Geo, which was deemed to be pro-Sharif, went off air in most of the country. Cable companies had been told to drop the channel. Newspapers owned by the media group also disappeared from newsstands. The stranglehold was withdrawn after it made peace with the army and recalibrated its coverage. Several of the media group’s best writers have been reduced to posting their columns on Twitter because their newspaper will no longer publish their thoughts.
Dawn, a highly respected liberal English-daily, has been under siege after it ran an interview in which Sharif implicitly criticised the military for holding up the trial of the army-linked militants accused of masterminding the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai. The army responded by going after the messenger: news agents were told to drop Dawn and the paper has vanished from military-owned suburbs in major cities. Its broadcast arm, Dawn TV, has also been widely blocked. The army’s commercial empire has stopped buying advertising space from the media group.
The army is playing with fire. Pakistani democracy may be messy, and often fails to deliver good government. But it does provide a peaceful channel for public anger in a country riven with ethnic fault lines and which is forever teetering on the brink.
The army does not believe in democracy as a safety valve. It prefers to keep a lid on things with force and repression. Its ongoing response to the recent mobilisation of Pashtuns, an ethnic minority, is a case in point. Their grievances include anger at the “disappearances” (illegal kidnappings) and “encounters” (extra-judicial killings) members of their community have suffered during the counter-insurgency campaign against militants along the north-west border with Afghanistan. The army has responded to their rallies and protests with harassment, accusations of Indian meddling and a media blackout. It is hard to imagine a better way to radicalise a movement of young men who feel they have nothing to lose.
That was how East Pakistan was "lost". The same cycle is repeating itself -slowly but surely
Despite this orgy of “pre-poll rigging”, the PML-N remains the country’s most popular party and Sharif its most popular politician, particularly in the all-important province of Punjab, according to Gallup. Those heartland voters will be deeply alienated if the army’s efforts to shut out their preferred party succeeds. And a government seen as illegitimate, or as an army puppet, will struggle to respond to crises.Whether they are hard or soft, coups in Pakistan always end badly.

Water woes: time to act now
Once a water-affluent country, Pakistan is now in the midst of a severe water crisis. Between 1990 and 2015, water availability almost halved from 2,172 cubic metres per citizen to 1,306 cubic metres per citizen. The Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has warned that unless the government takes action, the country may run dry by 2025. The imminent water crisis has received some media attention recently, however, the dialogue remains narrowly focused on public investment for reservoirs and moral appeals to save water. There is a dire need to change the fundamental workings of water governance in the country. Between 1995 and 2015 the Pakistani Population must have nearly Doubled just as the Population in of 42.8 million in 1961 INCREASED TO 83.783 million in 1981

How to steal an election - M Ziauddin

A majority of governments around the world at the least go through the motions of election campaigns and rhetorically commit to allowing citizens to cast ballots to choose their leaders. However, according to Nic Cheeseman and Brian Klaas (‘How to steal an election in broad daylight’— published in Foreign Policy on May 21, 2018) in many places, autocrats have perfected the art of rigging polls to stay in power — without breaking any laws — in some places through ‘elected’ proxies. In such elections the choice is little more than an illusion; the contest is rigged from the start.

This article was adapted from the new book, ‘How to Rig an Election’ written by Nic Cheeseman, a professor of democracy and international development at the University of Birmingham, and Brian Klaas, a Fellow in Comparative Politics at the London School of Economics. I have the FULL ARTICLE - 5 PAGES. Will post here if required.

On a scale of one to 10, in which 10 reflects a perfect election and one reflects the worst possible, the average election around the world scores just six according to data collected by the Electoral Integrity Project. In Asia, Africa, post-communist Europe, and the Middle East, the figure is closer to five. Globally, only about 30% of elections result in a transfer of power; at times an illusion of transfer of power occurs. In other words, incumbents or their proxies win seven times out of 10 — and this figure is even lower in nascent democracies.

Over the last decade, there has been a gradual decline in the quality of democracy in the world. In 2017, according to Freedom House, 71 countries suffered net declines in political rights and civil liberties, with only 35 registering gains. Today, nearly two in three citizens in the world live under a semi-democratic system.

There are a range of possible options that autocrats can use to tip the electoral scales in their favour. Different elections require different tools — but there’s logic to all of them.

The smartest way to rig an election is to do so before the ballots have even been printed. Today, the most effective autocrats steal elections well before polling day.

The best manipulations are those that can be done subtly and legally but nonetheless ensure victory. The worst forms of pre-election manipulation are easily detected, illegal, and have little impact. Effective rigging ensures that you or your proxies win and that you get away with it without losing legitimacy.

Such strategies include manipulating the voter rolls, excluding opposition candidates from contesting, and distorting electoral districts to maximise partisan gains (gerrymandering). What all of these tactics have in common is that they can be deployed months in advance of an election. In short, while more elections are being held and monitored to verify their integrity, the entire business of elections has become a bit like a cricket match on a rigged pitch.

The consequences of rigging are often negligible. There are countless elections that were blatantly rigged and were never noticed or condemned by international monitors.

The tactics outlined here may seem new, but they are old news to the world’s dictators and despots. For decades, they have been fine-tuning their strategies in order to hold elections that only they or their proxies can win. Over time, their trial-and-error efforts have produced rigging techniques that, unfortunately, work. The government prints the ballots, lets people show up to vote, and wins and retains power. The hallmark of these elections is that we usually know who will win well before the counting ends. That’s not how democracy is supposed to work.

In the 21st century, strongmen have learned that it’s easier to stay in power by rigging elections to win or bring in proxies than by not holding them at all. Right now, those who rig elections are outfoxing not only their own citizens but the international community as well. Unless one identifies those strategies and address them, the quality of elections will continue to decline.

India Bars "Paki Academics" From Conference And Shehrbano ( AKA Sherry !) Rehman does not like it ( she can lump it  )

SenatorSherryRehman
‏Verified account @sherryrehman

The Closed State: “India bars Pakistani academics from attending Asian conference on its soil. “

Ban on Pak Scholars Against Open Exchange of Ideas: Asian Studies Conference Organisers
New Delhi:
07/Jun/2018
Devirupa Mitra

Next month, India will be playing host for Asian studies scholars from all over the world for a major conference. But, following explicit instructions from Indian government, Pakistani academics will not be allowed to participate.
The Association for Asian Studies is the premier international academic body of Asianists with around 10,000 members. Every year since 2014, it holds an annual AAS-in-ASIA conference for scholars who cannot attend the annual event in North America. The last four conferences were held in Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.
Has Pakistan lodged a "protest" yet
This year, Ashoka University, India’s premier private liberal arts institute, is the co-organiser for the AAS-in-Asia conference from July 5 to 8 in New Delhi. The topics that will be delved into range from anthropocentrism to the South China sea and urbanisation.
Foreign scholars had to apply for an Indian visa with a copy of the invitation and no-objection letters from the ministries of external affairs and home affairs.
But the political clearance letter from the MEA includes explicit instructions from the Indian government to not include any scholars from Pakistan at the event.
Image
Pakistan was scratched out from the list of 57 countries that was attached with the letter.
IMO, this is a "direct slap" to Pakistan . Pakistan has some "friends" ( like China and Turkey ) in attendance . Maybe, THEY will "raise Kashmir issue " on behalf of Pakistan's absence
Image
The MEA missive repeated the objection against Pakistani participants twice. “Kindly note this Ministry does not recommend participation from Pakistan in the proposed event,” it said.Incidentally, the American Institute for Pakistani Studies is listed as one of the partners and sponsors on the conference’s website.
The home ministry letter to Ashoka university noted that there were no participations from the PRC (prior reference countries) in the conference, therefore “event clearance from MHA is not required for conference visa”. The ‘Prior Reference Countries’ are Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Sudan, foreigners of Pakistani origin and stateless persons.
So, China is not attending :D
Annie Zaman, an independent researcher, is the only Pakistani participant who had registered for the conference. Having registered in February, she was to speak on the morning of July 6 on the topic of virtual geographical identities through the lens of Balochistan’s secessionist movement, of which most members live outside Pakistan.“Balochistan is a sensitive topic in Pakistan. It’s a black hole when it comes to freedom of expression and media or news so I thought this conference would be a good platform to talk about it,” she told The Wire.
quote]However, just over a month ago, the conference organisers contacted her to say that it would be futile to apply for a visa. “We regret to inform you that the Indian Embassy most likely will not sanction the visa for you to attend the conference, as such you are eligible for a full refund of the conference fees,” an organiser e-mailed on May 1.
She was offered a refund of her registration and accommodation payment. They also suggested that she could, if still interested, could use Skype to take part in the conference. When she got the email on May 1, Zaman said that she wasn’t surprised. “I had applied for a visa in January to attend a wedding. But despite a recommendation from a senior Indian government official, I didn’t get it. I was told at that time by a visa officer that there is a blanket ban on visas for Pakistanis,” she said. Therefore, the letter from the AAS organiser in Delhi did not ruffle her feathers much.[/quote]
Addressing the question of the bar on Pakistani academics, the joint statement from the organisers said:
“The fact that the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India has decided to deny visas to Pakistani scholars (including scholars of Pakistani origin who are citizens of other countries) to attend the AAS-in-Asia conference in Delhi is not in tune with the open exchange of ideas and knowledge that is the very purpose of the conference. However, neither the Association for Asian Studies nor Ashoka University has the authority to tell the Government of India, a sovereign nation, to whom it may and may not grant visas, and nor have we been able to influence the Government of India to reverse its decision in this case.”
“We deeply regret the governmental decision preventing Pakistani scholars from physically attending the conference,” said the organisers.
The statement noted that affected delegates were informed in March. The registration fees have been refunded and efforts made to “facilitate their participation by arranging for them to present their papers via Skype,” it added.
Asked about the exclusion of Pakistani academics from getting a visa for AAS-in-Asia conference, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that there are “several factors which goes into taking a decision on participation by an individual or a country in any conference or seminar”.
Besides inputs from “agencies”, Kumar said that “one very important input is the state of relationship”. “If the state of relationship is good, positive, then these things are very smooth and free-flowing. If you have a relationship which is not smooth, then of course there are due diligence…and all these come into play. And yes, I think, participation by Pakistan or any other country is a reflection of the current state of relationship of India and that country,” he stated.
PS: Iran is of course excluded as the conference organizers are US based .

The Pashteen Cap And The National Security Of Pakiland :D

Security forces seize deadly shipment of Pashteen caps headed for Lahore
June 5, 2018
LAHORE: Security forces on Tuesday seized a deadly shipment of Mazari caps, also referred to by their street name as Pashteen caps, headed to Lahore.“After being tipped off, we seized this shipment from a truck on GT Road, near Lala Musa,” said SSP Saleem Bhatti, of the Counter-terror Department, Punjab Police.“The shipment was hidden behind vegetables.”“God knows what might have happened had they reached their destination,” he added.
“They had a massive payload.”
Earlier, the Director General of the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Ghafoor Ahmed had revealed to the public how the Pashteen caps were being imported from outside the country by the miscreant elements. In the same press conference, Ghafoor also pointed out the duplicitous nature of Manzoor Pashteen, the charismatic leader of the miscreant group, who went by Manzoor Mehsud till recently but now calls himself Manzoor Pashteen, which is how the word Pashtun is pronounced in the Mehsud dialect
( This part of the report is NOT fiction . "Moron" Ghafoor did make those ridiculous statements)

Army says it wants journalist’s abduction investigated
AFP
June 10, 2018
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army has denied it was behind the abduction of a British-Pakistani activist known for criticising the military, in an incident that prompted a wave of condemnation and increased fears of a crackdown on free speech.
Gul Bukhari, 52, was detained for several hours by unknown men in Lahore late on Tuesday, one day after the military held a press conference warning that it’s monitoring citizens who criticise Pakistan. She was released early Wednesday.
If she was a 100% Halaal Paki with one passport onlee, no one would have cared !
When news of her abduction broke it caused a furore, with widespread calls for her release and fingers pointed at the military.
The British High Commission expressed “concern” at the incident as activists called on the army to tolerate dissent.
“(The) army is not behind the abduction of Gul Bukhari,” Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, chief military spokesman, told reporters late on Friday.
“We actually want a thorough investigation in this case,” he said.
Lying with a straight face under the " umbrella of taqiyya"
The military routinely says it is not involved in enforced disappearances, but the statement was a rare on-the-record denial.Journalists have spoken of “pressure” not to cover the criticisms, adding to an atmosphere of repression.
During a wide-ranging press conference on Monday that appeared to address the mounting criticism, the military issued a veiled warning to online critics, saying it had the capacity to monitor social media accounts.
The Chini Internet Censorship System being implemented !
Maj Gen Ghafoor briefly flashed an image on screen showing what appeared to be Twitter handles and names, including of at least one prominent journalist, but refused to elaborate further, fuelling the outcry over free speech. On Friday night, he said they “did not intend to implicate journalists”.

Mush Returning Back To His "Beloved Pakistan"

Nomination papers obtained for Musharraf
June 10, 2018
KARACHI: A constituency of the National Assembly in Karachi’s South district carved out after fresh delimitations is set to see many known personalities contesting in the forthcoming general elections.Former military ruler Pervez Musharraf is said to have obtained the nomination papers through his representatives from NA-247 (Karachi South-II), which comprises Clifton, Defence, Karachi Cantonment, Saddar and Arambagh, etc.
Retired Gen Musharraf, who is facing a high treason case, has been allowed by the Supreme Court to file nomination papers on the condition that he would personally appear before the court in Lahore on June 13.
Ganja for understandable reasons, is deadly against this concession given to the Kammandu !
Recently, a three-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar heard Mr Musharraf’s appeal against a Peshawar High Court verdict disqualifying him for life for promulgating a state of emergency in November 2007.
The Army takes care of its own !
The apex court allowed the returning officers to receive the ex-general’s nomination papers for the upcoming elections, though acceptance of the nomination papers would be subject to the outcome of the case.
Those close to the former military ruler said the documents were being sent to Dubai for his signature.
AP adds: Mr Musharraf’s All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) announced on Saturday that he would also run for a National Assembly seat from Chitral. He has not set any date for his return, but an APML leader announced earlier this week that he would return after Eid.
Eid in exile. Eid "Namaz" not in Pakiland

China Once Again Open Its "Money Tap" For The Pakis

Pakistan uses Chinese trade finance to repay foreign debt
Jun.10,2018
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has largely exhausted a Chinese trade financing facility to repay its foreign debt as the finance ministry struggles to find another source to finance the current account deficit in June in a bid to keep foreign currency reserves at current levels and prevent them from falling further. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has largely tapped $1.5 billion in additional trade financing facility available under the China-Pakistan currency swap arrangement, said sources in the central bank and the Ministry of Finance. The central bank has used the facility at a time when caretaker Finance Minister Dr Shamshad Akhtar ( the new "guy" !) is trying to find balance between inflows and outflows for June and July.
The central bank tapped the facility to repay over $1 billion in maturing foreign loans, mainly obtained from foreign commercial banks. The exact amount of the Chinese facility that Pakistan used could not be ascertained, but an SBP source said it was around $750 million.
China has become the country’s largest creditor for the past couple of years, replacing all international financial institutions that are holding back policy loans. So far, Beijing has given about $3.8 billion in commercial and project loans, excluding the $1.5-billion currency swap arrangement. In the current fiscal year 2017-18, China has given about 40% of total foreign loans.
On May 25, the SBP announced that the currency swap arrangement with the People’s Bank of China had been extended for three years in respective local currencies. The trade financing facility was also enhanced from $1.5 billion to $3 billion in dollar terms. Pakistan had earlier fully utilised the $1.5-billion facility.
The currency swap agreement was originally directed at facilitating traders of the two countries, but Pakistan is using this window to inflate its foreign currency reserves. The SBP’s decision to tap the Chinese trade facility for debt payment has temporarily stopped the downward trend in official foreign currency reserves. For the week ended June 1, the SBP reported a net increase of $8 million in the reserves.Pakistan’s foreign currency reserves increased to $10.04 billion by June 1, according to the data issued by the SBP. The reserves included the $6.4 billion booked in forward contracts. However, the problem with using the trade facility for shoring up the reserves is that the country will have to return the loan in Chinese currency after three years. It will then use the dollars it holds to buy Chinese yuan from the market, which will have a direct impact on the reserves. The government will have to pay a higher mark-up, meaning this will be an expensive undertaking. Sources in the central bank said the reserves had fallen to $9.6 billion, which again bounced back to $10 billion.
Robbing Peter to pay Paul syndrome, IMO !
The main worry for the new finance minister is to keep the country afloat till the upcoming general elections, said sources in the finance ministry. At the weekend, the ministry officials remained busy balancing outflows and inflows for June and July, the sources added.
Pakistan is living on daily wages !!!. It does not know where and when her next meal is coming from !!!
Central bank and finance ministry authorities are projecting a minimum $2-billion current account deficit in June, the sources said. This means even if the SAFE deposits reach Pakistan, the gross foreign currency reserves will be around $9 billion. At this level, the reserves will not be sufficient to cover two months of imports. This, in turn, could put the rupee under pressure. The previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had put off decision on adopting another IMF programme by taking expensive short-term foreign loans in an attempt to avoid reforms and gain political mileage in elections. The country is now paying the price. The problem with the caretaker government is that it cannot enter into a long-term arrangement with the IMF, although negotiations are expected to begin by the end of this month under Article-IV.
The Chinis are now stuck with the Pakis. They have to ensure to keep the sinking Paki ship floating. Too much at stake !!!

Pakistan Among Top in World for Percentage of Women Accessing Explicit Content on Mobiles
Posted 1 year ago by ProPK Staff
A renowned explicit and mature content website has revealed its latest traffic stats, revealing a shocking insight.
In the website’s report titled “Countries with the Largest Proportion of Mobile Use by Women”, it has been revealed that the ratio of Pakistani women visiting the website with explicit content on mobile phones is 86%. This means that its more likely for Pakistani ladies to access mature content on mobile, as compared to desktops or other devices. So much so that Pakistan is one of world’s top countries where women access explicit content on mobile devices. Are the Mullahs aware of this "devastating stats" ? How does this jive in with the booming women empowerment movement that is "officially encouraged" by the GOP . Lots of interesting questions .
The ratio of Pakistani men accessing such websites on mobile phones is 12 percent lower than Pakistani women. 74 percent of Pakistani men visit a website with explicit content on their mobile phones.
So, the "sex hungry" Abduls are not far behind the Ayeshas in "daydreaming and fantasizing" in the cultural desert of Pakistan !
Among Muslim countries, Pakistan is ranked the highest and is followed by Malaysia at 7th. Neighbor country, India, is ranked just below Pakistan at 5th. The list is topped by South Africa, followed by the US and the UK.
To be very clear, the above report does not mean that Pakistani women visit such websites a lot – it’s just that when they do, it’s on mobile most of the time.
Obviously , to keep the "peeping Abduls" off their (Islamic) backs . Best ( Islamic ) solution . Mobile phones to be strictly sold to Abduls onlee . Poon problem solved !

Fresh Trouble For "Corrupt Mush"

ISLAMABAD: NAB has received fresh evidence in its probe against former dictator Pervez Musharraf on misuse of authority and illegal allotment of multiple expensive plots to his favorite officers worth about Rs1000 billion.
The evidence includes a list of 10 prime properties worth billions of rupees which Musharraf held in his name and in the names of his family members. The fresh evidence was submitted by a retired army officer colonel Advocate Inamur Rahim on Tuesday to the deputy director coordination of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Rawalpindi. A NAB official has confirmed to The News that the Bureau is examining the evidence against the former military ruler in an inquiry into “misuse of authority” by Musharraf. Earlier, NAB’s deputy director coordination Nasir Raza had sought documentary proof from Col Inam in an inquiry against the former dictator under NAB Ordinance 1999. However, NAB has yet to issue summon to the former dictator in the case.
The Bureau was told that General Musharaf allotted completed phases of different DHAs to senior officers to get their support and as the result they are still standing with him and supporting him for their commercial interest.General Parvez also allotted thousands of kanals of land in DI Khan to certain politicians to get their support on the issue of uniform whereas the said land was reserved for the families of Shuhada. In that regard, a separate complaint filed by Shafqat Mehmood Senator from PTI is already pending with the chairman NAB.
Doubt that this corrupt Jarnail is going to jail !

Paki Soap Opera Starring The Kaptaan, The CJP And The Paki Fauj. The Good Haqqani's Take On Current Pakiland

Meet the stars of Pakistan’s sitcom – A chief justice, Imran Khan and, of course, the army
Husain Haqqani 7 June, 2018
Pakistan has serious problems, and is seen as a problem by many in the world. Its affairs should not resemble a television situational comedy.
If they did not affect the life of 200 million Pakistanis, and the stability of a region that is home to more than a billion and a half people, current developments in Pakistan would evoke laughter like a television sitcom. As Charlie Chaplin supposedly remarked, “Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long-shot.”
This tragic situational comedy is rich in its cast of characters. Each major character claims that he is helping make things better for others, but most of his actions only invite ridicule from those who are watching the show from a distance.
There is the chief justice, who struts around checking the status of general hygiene in mental hospitals while presiding over one of the largest backlog of undecided cases. Few people take him seriously, but he insists on his significance and frequently asserts it.
He will go on in history as the Paki judge who looked busy but did nothing
Then, there is the spokesman for the world’s sixth largest army, who sees nothing wrong in announcing at a press conference that his institution monitors its citizens’ comments on social media to track down ‘enemies of the state’. Why should a nuclear-armed country even worry about what a few people say on social media unless they are tied to terrorist groups?
Then there is the fear that the "Army may lose the country it owns" and with that will go all the perks and benefits that they currently enjoy. And of course, the bogey of "India The "Dushman" ! The Paki Fauj will never allow things to change . Too much is at stake here !
The unusual characters in the televised Pakistani drama also include a host of retired military officers and politicians, who act as if they are the military’s inner voice. They pronounce judgment on various Pakistanis’ patriotism, threaten neighbouring countries with war, try to scare Pakistanis with threats of looming disasters, and announce what is or is not acceptable to the country’s all-powerful military in the political realm.
And for all this effort on behalf of the fauj, they are generously compensated with money, travel perks, and other (harami) entertainment "off the books"
One of the most laughter-inducing characters in the Pakistan sitcom is the cricketer-turned-politician, who has been waiting to become a prime minister for two decades, and is confident that ‘the institution’ is about to anoint him to run the country very soon. He flip-flops at the drop of a hat, almost never has his act together, but is vociferously defended by a lot of people on grounds of his supposed honesty.
His party is a one man show , and he doles out tickets, sexual favours and what not on the advice of those who are his cronies. And his private life, is a "royal mess" !
He is always in a state of outrage over something or the other. These days, he is upset that one of his former wives has written a book that he suspects will say unpleasant things about him. Instead of staying calm and waiting for the book to be published first, he and his team are trying to control damage preemptively by painting the forthcoming book as a conspiracy against Pakistan and its wanna-be saviour.
He has of course, not made a SINGLE statement against his ex or against the "gossipy book" . He portrays himself as "above the fray" and orders his minions in Pakiland and abroad to do "the dirty work to repair the damage done" .
Like people moving in the background of many sitcoms, I found myself as an unwitting prop in Pakistan’s latest farce. In London to attend a conference hosted by the Foundation for Sports Integrity, I was not even thinking about Pakistan when I ran into the cricketer-turned-politician’s former wife and her son at a department store. We had a civil, social conversation like any two Pakistanis running into each other should. Now, here Hussain is insulting the intelligence of the Kaptaan and his team by suggesting that the meet was "just co-incidental" .
The former wife is a former member of the journalist fraternity, and I am appalled by the nastiness of attacks on her by her ex-husband’s supporters. But I am not in the business of ghost writing, nor am I a literary agent or a publisher’s representative and, therefore, had no advice to offer the budding author about her book. advice off the books maybe :D /quote]
But that did not prevent the comedians around the ‘kaptaan’ from dragging me into their panic scene. Photos of that chance encounter were circulated on Pakistan’s mainstream media with comments about how a conspiracy was being hatched between the former wife and a known Pakistani ‘traitor’.
Pakistan is the "conspiracy theory" capital of the world !
My unvarnished views on how Pakistan needs a fundamental change have made me a symbol of perennial threat to the country. A man who wants to discuss why Pakistan has the highest infant mortality rate in the world, 23 million out-of-school children, and low international rankings in virtually everything, except the size of its military and nuclear arsenal, is definitely dangerous.
Haqqani is a "wanted man" in Pakiland . His "posters" are all over the "accursed country" . And he has also been accused of supping with " Dushman India "
Discussion of substantive issues detracts from Pakistan’s national narrative about external and internal threats and victim hood. It also takes away from the all-consuming sitcom. For my part, I have tried to assure the cricketer-turned-politician that I have never taken him seriously enough to get involved in the publication of his former wife’s memoirs
The unwanted attention from Pakistani TV viewers has done little to disrupt my life. But for the sake of the 200 million people of Pakistan, I want the silly season of conspiracy theories and comical television debates to end. Pakistan has serious problems, and is seen as a problem by many in the world. Its affairs should not resemble a television situational comedy.

Paki Propaganda At Its Best Here ! While In The Rest Of The World , Coal Is Demonized As A Polluting Energy Source, Paki Chief Minister Relishes Its "Discovery" In Sindh Province And Mis- Refers It As Black Gold ( A Term Reserved For Ummah Oil !)

Ex-CM Murad Ali Shah announces discovery of ‘Black Gold’
KARACHI: Former Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced the discovery of coal 140 meters below surface in Thar, crediting it to the PPP government’s efforts. The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader turned to Twitter on Sunday to publicize the discovery of “Black Gold” in Sindh’s Thar region, paying accolades to the late former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto.
He is blowing the horn of his PPP Party !

KARACHI: Former Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced the discovery of coal 140 meters below surface in Thar, crediting it to the PPP government’s efforts. The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader turned to Twitter on Sunday to publicize the discovery of “Black Gold” in Sindh’s Thar region, paying accolades to the late former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto.“By the Grace of the Almighty, today we have reached “Black Gold” in Thar, as envisioned by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. This discovery of Coal is the result of the hard work and perseverance of #PPP govt, and the beginning of an energy sufficient #Pakistan. #Tharcoal #Sindh,” the CM’s tweet had stated. The excavation process had gone on for 26 months by Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company, and as per reports the coal will be utilized for energy generation purposes as early as this year.
This is probably today's dose of "good news" for the energy suffering Paki Awaam or maybe to boost up the Bhutto Party's chances in the coming election !
Earlier this year during the Sindh Development Forum, the then Chief Minister Shah regarding the region’s coal assets had stated that “Pakistan’s energy is based on Thar coal deposits.” While the rest of the world is weaning away from this discredited source of energy, Pakis on the other hand are embracing it fully, and to hell with the pollution of the environment

Exports surge 32pc, trade deficit rises to $34bn

ISLAMABAD: The country’s trade deficit soared to all-time high nearly $34 billion in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, posing one of a serious challenge for the government to curtail rising current account deficit.

The deficit widened almost 13.3 per cent during the July-May period of the current fiscal year, according to official figures.

It rose to $3.76bn in May, an 8.6pc year-on-year increase. The rising trade deficit had been one of the most serious challenges for the PML-N government in the last year of its five-year term which completed on May 31.

Import growth refuses to decelerate even as exports regain lost ground

The last fiscal year saw the trade deficit rise to an all-time high of $32.58bn, representing year-on-year growth of 37pc. When the PML-N came to power in 2013, the country’s annual trade deficit was $20.44bn. It has been continuously on the rise since then.

The import bill recorded a growth of 14pc to $55.3bn in July-May period of 2017-18 from $48.54bn over the corresponding period of last year. On a monthly basis, the import bill recorded a growth of 15pc to $5.9bn from $5.09bn over the preceding month.

According to the commerce ministry, the imports for the month showed an increase of 15pc mainly due to persistently high oil price and increased volumes of imports of fuels and machinery to overcome energy deficit.

The overall increase in imports for the eleven months period remained at 14pc as compared the previous fiscal year. The import bill is rising due to an increase in the arrival of capital goods, petroleum products and food products.

Exports continued to show a rebound that began early in 2017. The growth pattern in exports was seen since then with few exceptions. Exports continue to post the figures above $2bn for the third consecutive month since March 2018. The month of May witnessed a growth of 32pc year-on-year compared to same month last year.

In dollar terms, the highest ever month-on-month growth was recorded as export proceeds went up to $2.14bn from $1.62bn in May 2017, which shows the stability at higher levels being reflected in the export figures.

In terms of annual export growth, the figures have improved from 14pc in July-April to 15pc in July-May. The overall exports in the first eleven months have already reached $21.32bn, which is almost $1bn higher than the annual figures of 2016-17.

It can be safely projected that the exports for the current year will surpass $23.4bn, bringing in an additional foreign exchange of around $3bn.

The merchandise exports for the month of May earned Rs247.5bn as compared to Rs169.7bn earned in May last year. It shows additional revenues of around Rs80bn for exporters in the May. Hence in rupee terms the growth is a whopping 46pc.

The rise in exports is the outcome of improvement in energy supply, partially releasing of refunds and cash subsidies under the Prime Minister Export Package. The PML government had also imposed additional regulatory duties on luxury items besides restrictions on imports of certain goods to curtail flows of imports.

Another "Publicity Hungry" Chief Justice Of Pakiland - Ex CJP "Interferes" In The Paki General Election

Ex-CJP Iftikhar Ch to move SC against Imran Khan over Sita White issue
KARACHI: Ex-chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Sunday said he will file a case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the Supreme Court under Article 61 (1)(f) for fathering a love child, and hence claim his ineligibility to hold public office.Tyrian White, believed to be 26, is the daughter of the late British socialite Sita White. Sita had won a default judgment in a paternity suit against Khan in a Los Angeles court in 1997 after Khan refused to provide DNA samples to prove or disprove paternity. After the verdict, Khan had told US media that he would be willing to submit to a blood test in Pakistan and to stand by the decision of a Pakistani court, arguing that he was not a resident of California or England.
Imran's Ex Jemima is "quietly looking after Sita White's financial and other interests ", if press reports are to be believed . Not sure why this corrupt Ex CJP is "after" Immy in the first place . To gain "cheap publicity" at least IMO.
Iftikhar Ch argued, “Khan has mentioned his sons in his nomination papers but made no mention of his daughter. We shall take the case against him in the Supreme Court.
Chaudhry, now the president of the Pakistan Justice and Democratic Party, claimed during an interview with a private news channel that he has evidence to show that Khan has admitted to being the father of Tyrian White while abroad, but denies the same in Pakistan. He said his party would file objections against Khan’s nomination papers before the relevant ROs.
So, the cross-eyed CJP, in order to make a living , has "entered" the thriving second oldest profession. This "profession" is very popular in Pakiland , with the likes of Mush, Dus Percenti, Ganja Sharif and Immy Khan
Chaudhry admitted that there is legal precedent for politicians to be disqualified for dishonesty under Article 62 (1)(f). After submission of documents to confirm the parentage of the child, Khan should not be considered ‘sadiq and ameen’ in terms of the Constitutional article, he reasoned.
. Cross - eyed Iftikhar should "enlist" the help of Reham in this matter as she is also concluded that the Kaptaan is no longer the so-called "Sadiq and ameen"

PS: This obviously corrupt Ex CJP was recently forced to return official GOP property ( armoured vehicle) which he was "enjoying" contrary to the (Islamic  ) laws of Pakiland !

Supreme Court’s ‘ambiguous’ verdict has left me confused: Musharraf
June 10, 2018
Frontier Post
DUBAI (Monitoring Desk): Former President General (retd) Pervaiz Musharraf said on Sunday that the Supreme Court’s ‘ambiguous’ verdict has left him confused.A three-member SC bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has ordered Musharraf to appear before court and assured he will not be arrested upon appearance. The bench directed the former military ruler to appear before the top court’s Lahore registry on June 13.Speaking to media representatives in Dubai, the All Pakistan Muslim League leader said that the court has given an ambiguous verdict unlike the decision in Khawaja Asif’s disqualification case.
So, the "seasoned Kammundu" is smelling a "trap" in the offer. SSG training maybe?
The former army chief demanded  the highest judicial authority of the country to give him bail in all ongoing cases against him, a verdict on his review petition before July 26 and an assurance that he won’t be arrested.
“I feel lonely ( beloved Pakistan ? ) but my party workers keep raising my morale,” the military ruler-turned-democrat said.
Musharraf said that the court should assure him that his name would not be included in the Exit Control List based on the six cases filed against him.
Beggars can't be choosers!
The former COAS claimed that a number of political leaders are ready to withdraw their candidates in his favour.Musharraf announced to challenge NADRA’s action to block his CNIC.“How can one travel without CNIC and passport. I will challenge the action in Supreme Court,” he said.
Turn yourself in at the Paki Emb in Dubai. They will do the needful

X Posted from the Pakistan Economic Stress Watch (PESW) thread.

PKR Devalued to 1USD = 121.5 PKR. Central Bank remains mum though.

This round of Currency Devaluation is the third since December:

As I have said before, I am sad about this. It serves us better if they peg the PKR to the USD 1:1 and live the good life.

The big powers - deep state, PTI, PPP, PML - would have convinced the caretaker government to be the fall guy. Uncle Xi probably didn't dole out any return gifts in Qingdao as well, so here we are!

The "Look Busy Do Nothing" CJP Of Pakiland At It Again! Goes After "Corruption" In The Mobile Phone Industry

Chief Justice suspends tax deduction on mobile cards
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday suspended the tax deduction tax deduction from mobile phones “pre-paid calling cards and easy load” by companies and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).The apex court has provided a two-day deadline to follow the orders pertaining to the suspension.
This CJP is "well known" for circumventing the bureaucracy around the "law" to get "his" thing done on the pretext of "serving the masses"
During the hearing of the suo motu notice case, FBR chairman appeared before in Supreme Court Lahore registry. “At least 13 crore people use the mobile phones while the tax deduction is the personal act of the companies. Only 5 percent people in the country pay the taxes.” Wasting the "time" of the FBR Chairman, and wasting his own time in deal with "petty matters" while he should be going after corrupt crore commanders !
The court remarked, “The public is being looted here. How can tax be received from a street vendor? Deduct tax from the person whose mobile phone usage is more than set limits.”
“How can tax be received from a person who does not come in the tax net? It is illegal to provide Rs64.38 to a person who charges Rs100 card in his phone. A comprehensive policy should be made over the tax deduction,” directed the court.
Easier said than done in the corrupt and sifarish ridden environment of Pakiland , where if "rumours" are to believed , an Ex PM and his corrupt brother have completely "salted' away, for their own use, the monies meant for the suffering awaam
“Not distinguishing between a tax payer and defaulter is discrimination. As per constitution, this discriminatory policy can be annulled,” said the CJP.
Is this "CJP" living on another planet or what . Theory and practice are two different matters !
