Terroristan - April 24, 2018

Post by Peregrine »

What are we importing?

In the first 11 months of 2017-18, imports stood at $55.23 billion, an increase of 14.12 per cent. Exports increased by slightly more at 15.28, per cent. However, the absolute level of exports is just $21.35 billion, paying for only 38.7 per cent of imports. In theory exports do not have to be equal to imports, there being other means of paying for imports. But the gap in our case is humongous. What exactly are we importing? Are some of these dispensable at a time of foreign exchange crisis, with its gravity increasing by the day?

Imports are divided into nine groups. As one would expect, the largest is the Petroleum Group valued at $12.93 billion or 23 per cent of the total. This is understandable as Pakistan is dependent on the world for its requirements of petroleum products and crude oil. Savings are still possible by lowering energy intensity, a measure of the amount of energy used to produce a unit GDP. It has been consistently falling globally and in all major economies. Pakistan falls way behind its peers. A big time new entrant is the import of gas that contributes 18.4 per cent of the Petroleum Group imports. Next in importance is the Machinery Group with a share of 19.3 per cent in the total imports. Again, Pakistan is dependent on the import of capital goods to raise the investment-to-GDP ratio necessary for a respectable rate of growth of GDP. Power-generating machinery, electrical machinery and apparatus, telecom and textile machinery are, in that order, the major items in the group. The third largest group is the Agricultural and Other Chemicals Group, with a share of 14.7 per cent. These are essential inputs for agricultural and industrial production such as fertilisers, insecticides, plastic materials, medicinal products, etc.

In a country still claiming to be agricultural, $915 million were spent on importing raw cotton. There is not much public awareness of the fact that the fourth-largest group of imports is the Food Group. In the period covered here, Pakistan incurred a huge expenditure of $5.72 billion to import food items. The share in total imports was 10.3 per cent. Around half of the amount went to the import of edible oils and tea due to insignificant local production. The indigenous oilseed crops such as sunflower, canola, rapeseed/mustard and cottonseeds cater for only 12 per cent of the demand. Not much import substitution is in evidence. Rapeseed/mustard showed a negligible growth of 0.1 per cent in 2017-18. The other half of food import bill was on milk & its products, dry fruits & nuts, spices and pulses. Despite claims that Pakistan is among the top milk producers of the world, the country imported $252 million worth of milk and related products in 2017-18, an increase of 8 per cent over the previous year. Pulses import cost the country $483 million. Domestic production of masoor has remained unchanged and that of moong has declined by 8.7 per cent. What is achievable is demonstrated by the fact that the import bill in the previous year was $903 million. The reduction was caused by the increase of maash production by 4.3 per cent. The usual suspects, cars and motorcycles, cost $1.3 billion, while buses and trucks cost $581. “All other items” claim a hefty $4.6 billion.

Rupee depreciation and regulatory import duties will reduce imports, but the desired impact requires reinforcement by appropriate nontariff barriers against dispensable imports and incentives for domestic production, especially in the Food Group.

Pakistan’s soft coup
By Jon Boone
July 8, 2018 ( Published prior to Nawaz found guilty !)
Just a few years ago the smart thing to say about Pakistan was that the days of military coups were behind it.“It can’t happen,” the then US ambassador to Islamabad told me in 2012. “For one thing, there are too many TV stations. Think of how many they would have to take off air!”
The ambassador had in mind the coup of 1999, the last time the army helped itself to power. In those analogue days it was a cinch. A few troops motored into Islamabad and scaled the front gate of state broadcaster PTV. The country’s only television station was under army control. Job done.
Today there are so many channels it is hard to come up with an authoritative number. They broadcast in different languages and from different locations across the vast country. Curiously, it was the coup-maker himself, army chief Pervez Musharraf, who permitted rambunctious news channels to grow like Topsy. The rise of cheap, internet connected devices has opened the floodgates of social media, further adding to the difficulties of ambitious generals.
And yet Pakistan is once again in the throes of its latest military takeover. You can be forgiven for having missed it. The world’s attention has been glued to international crises elsewhere. And the takeover of 2018 is a “soft coup”. It is far slower and subtler affair than the old-school coups of 1958, 1977 and 1999.
The Kerry Lugar Act of USA is like a Sword of Damocles hanging over the head of the Generals . And Pakistan still feeds "good" on US Taxpayer Monies, even though it has found itself a New Sugar Daddy in the Chinese
Ostensibly the democratic set-up remains intact, with the country gearing up for general elections to be held on July 25. But although the faction of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) led by Nawaz Sharif has been in government since its landslide victory in 2013, it has not been in power for some time. It has been steadily hobbled by a military establishment that has waged guerrilla war against Sharif, preventing him from achieving his main priorities. That included an effort to put Musharraf on trial for high treason and making peace with India. Towards the end Sharif’s government was so enfeebled that the army’s spokesman was able to casually dismiss a prime ministerial directive with a Tweet.

Towards the end Sharif’s government was so enfeebled that the army’s spokesman was able to casually dismiss a prime ministerial directive with a Tweet.
The Paki print media depends on govt advertising revenue to make a living . Therefore, they are easily controllable .
Dawn, a highly respected liberal English-daily, has been under siege after it ran an interview in which Sharif implicitly criticised the military for holding up the trial of the army-linked militants accused of masterminding the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai. The army responded by going after the messenger: news agents were told to drop Dawn and the paper has vanished from military-owned suburbs in major cities. Its broadcast arm, Dawn TV, has also been widely blocked. The army’s commercial empire has stopped buying advertising space from the media group.
Monday saw the most blatant menacing of social media yet. The army’s spokesman announced at a press conference that the military was monitoring social media for “anti-state, anti-Pakistan and anti-army” material. He displayed a diagram of Twitter accounts, which included prominent journalists, that were suspected of being manipulated by “enemy designs” (for which, read India). A few days later another journalist, the high-profile commentator Gul Bukhari, was picked up and briefly detained. Her abduction has been taken as a sign that no one is untouchable.

Despite this orgy of “pre-poll rigging”, the PML-N remains the country’s most popular party and Sharif its most popular politician, particularly in the all-important province of Punjab, according to Gallup. Those heartland voters will be deeply alienated if the army’s efforts to shut out their preferred party succeeds. And a government seen as illegitimate, or as an army puppet, will struggle to respond to crises.
Whether they are hard or soft, coups in Pakistan always end badly.

'I am coming to Pakistan to face prison,' says defiant Nawaz after guilty verdict
July 06, 2018
Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, referring to the 10-year prison sentence handed to him on Friday morning by an accountability court in Islamabad, said that he has been punished because he tried to turn the course of Pakistan's 70-year history.Sharif, along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz — who was also handed prison time — held a press conference in London hours after the verdict in the corruption reference was announced."I promise that I will continue this struggle until Pakistanis are not free of the chains that they are kept in for saying the truth," Nawaz said."I will continue my struggle till the people of Pakistan are not freed of the slavery imposed on them by some generals and judges," he added.
It will be almost impossible to defy the generals !
Nawaz remarked that if the punishment for "demanding respect for the vote is jail, I am coming to face it", adding that he will "not be a slave to those who violate their oath and the Constitution of Pakistan".Nawaz, however, did not give any specific time or date for his return to Pakistan. When asked, the former premier mentioned the deteriorating health of his wife Kulsoom Nawaz as the reason for him not being able to return immediately.Responding to a question, Nawaz said he was rendering sacrifice for the people of Pakistan. “I am asking the nation to come with me in this defining moment and not abandon me,” he said.
IOW, he is asking, at least the Pakjabis to vote for his party. But the problem is, his PML Party has been intimidated, demonized and marginalized by Deep State !
Commenting on the verdict, Maryam Nawaz said it was easy for her to take the way of reconciliation like her contemporaries in politics "and not say anything against anyone and have a bright future", but she decided against it."I knew that the issues for which I am raising voice, I will not be welcomed with garlands. But someone had to light the first flame which we have," she maintained.
His daughter Maryam Nawaz was given 7 years for abetment, and 1 year for non-cooperation with the bureau — also to run concurrently; she will serve 7 years in total.
Most likely his various properties in Pakiland , will be attached to "collect the corruption loot" that he has salted away !

It is a bad idea to return. If Ganja becomes a problem to Pak Fauj and others then he will be removed as ZAB was or as Benazir was. His SA connections saved him once, but he is playing with fire again. Ganja is going against the long held Pak tradition, you make money then disappear to a Western Country and enjoy your wealth. This gives opportunity for others to make money too.

Pakis "Hooked" On Chini Cheap Loans

Pakistan Asks China for More Loans to Avoid Foreign Currency Crisis
Pakistan has asked China to keep lending it money to prevent a foreign currency crisis, warning that Beijing’s planned $60bn investment in the South Asian country was at risk if it failed to do so, according to a report in the Financial Times.
Paki extortion? Paki blackmail?
China recently lent Pakistan $1 billion to help with its foreign currency crisis.Over the last financial year ended June 2018, Pakistan borrowed $4bn from China according to government officials and wants to keep the money flowing to avoid having to ask the IMF for a bailout.
Pakistan is like a "drug addict" . Once "hooked" hard to get off it. Not sure what kind of therapy would help Pakiland
Officials in Islamabad have warned their Chinese counterparts that if the lending stops, it could threaten the future of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the cornerstone of President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative. They say that if Pakistan is forced to approach the IMF instead, it may have to disclose details of how the scheme is being funded, and even cancel some of the infrastructure projects already planned.
Let the new govt of the Kaptaan deal with it . The National Assembly was Pakiland was never privy to the detailed and secret clauses of the CPEC Agreement !
We had a detailed discussion with the Chinese and we shared our concern. The main issue is that once we are locked in an IMF programme, we will have to make full disclosure of the terms on which China has agreed to build the CPEC.
Once the IMF looks at CPEC, they are certain to ask if Pakistan can afford such a large expenditure given our present economic outlook. Pakistan has been living "beyond its means" for a long, long time
Pakistan’s stocks of foreign reserves have been falling for the past two years, as imports rise and remittances from abroad have fallen. But the slide has gathered pace in recent few months, due in part to higher oil prices pushing up the price of imported goods.
The situation is set to become worse in 2019, when $12.7bn of external repayments are due, compared with $7.7bn this year. Fitch issued a warning last week saying declining forex reserves and rising current account deficit were adding to Pakistan’s burgeoning external financing risks.

Pakistan are using the same template with some language tweaks that they applied to US.

Chinese are no babe in the woods. This is where it gets exiting and the peak will be reached when CPEC related funding repayment starts.

Please ! We Are Muslims ! No Condom Products ! No Alcohol And Spirits ! And No Feminine Hygienic Products Either !

Taboo or not taboo?
Pakistan is a conservative country and we have a largely orthodox social mindset.
What goes on "behind the four walls of the orthodox social mindset " palace, bungalow or kothi is none of your damn business ( like Saudi Arabia, another "bastion" of orthodoxy, where sex games, drugs, and other vices are practiced in the palaces of the princes ! )
I recall a letter to the editor in DAWN from a woman expressing her embarrassment at having to watch with her family advertisements for female hygiene products. In her view, the price she had to pay in terms of embarrassment outweighed any benefit to society. Yet the fact is that these products perform a function in society and need to be advertised and marketed as a social effort.
Josh recently developed an ad featuring Mathira, only to get it banned. When it was banned, there was an increase in sales. A similar strategy can easily work for a lingerie brand but whether it would or is advisable for Always is debatable.
The CJP of Pakiland is "indirectly recommendating" use of condom to stop the population explosion ( no more than 4 kids - to match his own record !)
Advertising taboo products is challenge (even in India, which we perceive as more open and modern.) As our society becomes increasingly polarised, the question is how to move forward. The solution in my view seems to be to rely on social media
The solution, IMO, is Malsi and more Malsi . Condoms should be BANNED !!!

CJP Saquib Cannot Keep His Mouth Shut ! Wades Again In Choppy Waters !

CJP Nisar suggests to demolish Islamabad’s elite club
ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar pitched a proposal before the authorities in Islamabad to demolish the illegal structure of Gun and Country Club within ten days.
Has he "checked in" with super patriot Zahid Hamid, who is a "big fan" of this "elite club" !
During the hearing of a case regarding the illegal construction of marriages halls at the said facility, the top judge was informed by the Club’s counsel that former chief executive Pervez Musharraf had given the permission for allotment of land.To this, the CJP asked as to why former dictator Pervez Musharraf did not return to Pakistan to answer for misdeeds he had committed during his regime.
( Has he "checked in" with Deep State on this topic  )
The former dictator had no authority even to allot a single kiosk, but he took over the powers of the country’s administrator after breaking the Constitution, the CJP observed on Tuesday.
He should "mind his tongue" lest he crosses some "red lines" :D
‘Musharraf was a usurper. He had no mandate or authority to award the land without the CDA’s approval,’ the judge remarked.
And who did the CDA "work for", if not Mush ( at that time !) Is CDA "independent"
Mian Saqib Nisar observed that the shooting club was established for Safe Games, but questioned what was happening there currently.
Why not the club was closed and its land was allotted to the Polyclinic hospital as the facilities there were only for the rich, he observed.
( In the winter of his life, he is giving out the (wrong) impression, that he is "working 24/7" for the awaam ! )
At one point, Justice Nisar ordered immediate demolition of the marquee but Additional Attorney General (AAG) Nayyar Abbas Rizvi objected and said, Islamabad could host the SAF ( with or without India  ) Games at any time.
“If it is an illegal structure it should be demolished and the land should be given to Polyclinic,” the CJP said. The AAG also informed the court that the marquee was built when Faisal Sakhi Butt was the administrator of the club during the last Pakistan Peoples Party government. The court also summoned Butt as well as the club’s first administrator Lt Gen Arif Hassan and Daniyal Aziz, who remained GCC administrator during the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government. It also the CDA board to decide the application of Club and asked the Club administration to satisfy it on the issue of land. The court adjourned the case till July 9.
Good thing that Saquib has been "reined in" by his fellow Legal Eagles like the AAG ! She should be "careful" who he "goes after" . There are important NAMES here

All this "sky is falling" scare mongering by the pakis when it comes to water issues is just that. Wait till they use the nooklear bums in wrong hands + burgeoning bhooka nanga population + bhe are broke + hai allah! combination to milk the rest of the world in the coming years.

Water and population link
Finally someone in pakiland does the math.
THE alarm bells around Pakistan’s water crisis are growing louder, and with good reason. Water stress is upon us, impossible to ignore, whether it manifests in cities facing shortages even of drinking water, deficiencies in agriculture, poisoning of resources in many areas, or any other crippling form.
While it is good that everyone finally agrees on the need to act, the proposed solutions, once again, take the pet forms of better infrastructure, dams, waterways, canals, water plants, etc (= $$$$$).
the emerging water crisis to the looming population number, which is the very basis for calculating where we are in terms of per capita water availability.
Until 1981, we were water abundant at 2,123 cubic metres (m3) per capita. By the 1998 census, our population was already 132 million and growing at 2.6 per cent. Water availability was beginning to enter the stress levels of 1,351m3 per capita.
the period after 2000 saw little change in fertility and population growth rates. The 2013 Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey showed that Pakistan’s fertility rate remained at 3.8 while other countries were registering record declines and reaching around 2.2.
And in 2017, the new census indicates that the apocalyptic prediction has come true: we are in a state of water scarcity at 861m3.
the issue of our still unbridled population growth is forgotten
When the preliminary findings of the 2017 census were announced, the disturbing news that we were 207m — several million more than the most conservative fertility decline estimates made in 2010 had suggested
Very simply, we cannot delink the water crisis from rapid and unsustainable population growth in Pakistan any more than we can delink the large out-of-school population from the ever-growing numbers of children who need to be put in school, or malnutrition from high fertility.
The narrative is being built around declining water resources + population growth. Help, give muchos $$$ to pakhanistan or it will implode because of its burgeoning population and only yaallah knows where the bums will end up.

Then This

Number 3

The Kaptaan "Commodified" . Peerni Approval.
There is a good news for all the people who have been screaming their support for Imran Khan. Imran Khan’s Official Online Insaf Store has been launched. Get your hands on your favorite pieces before everything is sold out. There are some articles with Imran Khan’s own signature that has made this merchandise even more cooler. Does the "Kaptaan" get a share of the action . Has a License Agreement been approved by the PTI Party . Monies received will obviously go to the PTI coffers because Imran is PTI. And PTI is Imran
Imran Khan’s Merchandise is live right now for both the local and international ( free gifts for Jemima, Suleiman , Kasim, and Tyron  ) deliveries. There is a lot of good stuff at their online store including caps with Imran Khan’s logos and signatures, t-shirts, scarves and unstitched shirts for the ladies too.
If one is a "die hard" fan of Imran, it would be advisable to wait because inventory will surely be liquidated at, at least 90% of the marked price, if The Kaptaan does not make it to the captaincy (PM ship) of Pakiland

It Is Quite Possible That Ganja's Son-In- Law Might Have "Cut A Separate Deal With Deep State "

NAB arrests Capt (r) Safdar from Rawalpindi after Avenfield reference verdict
RAWALPINDI – A team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials finally arrested Captain (r) Safdar Awan, a son-in-law of ousted PM Nawaz Sharif, from party’s office at Rawalpindi’s 6th road on Saturday.Dozens of PML-N workers surrounded Capt (r) Safdar after he was taken into custody by the NAB’s team.
Muhammad Sajjad, brother of Safdar, said that his brother was in consultation with his lawyer to obtain pre-arrest bail by challenging the verdict in the high court.
It is quite possible that he may turn "State Witness" to escape the Adiala gallows , at least IMO :D

What Will Happen To This "White Elephant" Dam Now !

Alarming stage as Tarbela Dam touches dead level for first time in Pakistan’s history
ISLAMABAD – The water situation in Pakistan has aggravated to the very alarming situation after the water level at Tarbela Dam touched its dead level during monsoon season in July, for the first time in country’s history. The Indus River System Authority (Irsa) officials said that they never observed this critical stage during the rainy season.IRSA spokesperson Khalid Rana, talking to a leading English daily, said that the major reason behind this dangerous situation is no good rainfall in the catchment areas of the dam during last monsoon spell.
No official announcement yet "blaming India for this disaster" :D
The water level in the Tarbela Dam was recorded at 1386 feet while its dead level is 1530 feet. Water inflow in the Dam stood at 151,000 cusecs while outflow 123,000 cusecs. At Chashma point, the water inflow was recorded at 187,900 cusecs while storage stood at 181,000 acrefeet.Meanwhile, the water storage level in the dam was 1,122 feet against its dead level of 1,050 feet but it has also started depleting.
However, talking about overall water storage in the country, Rana said, last year in July at this time water storage level was 7 million acres feet (MAF) but this year it stands at 0.8 to one million acres feet (MAF), he said, adding that coming monsoon spell may help country to overcome the shortage.
Hope is "always" eternal. And then there is always the available "standard excuse" of blaming India

Another Tragic "Zoo Story" From Pakiland

Imported South African giraffe passes away in Lahore Zoo, when will the management be answerable?
LAHORE – According to the zoo officials, the imported giraffe that belonged to South Africa passed away last week in the zoo premises. The incident is excused by claiming that the animal was sick when it had reached the importers. This is not the first time fingers have been pointed at the zoo management as to why precious animals are dealt with negligence. Earlier this year, a 12-year-old Bengal tigress died at the zoo, a few days after another tigress died. The tigress had been at the zoo since she was three years old. In 2017 chronic diarrhea for 30 days resulted in the death of a male Cheetah at the Lahore zoo. The Cheetah had only spent a month at the zoo until the death.
In all fairness, the zoo authorities , at least IMO, should not be blamed ! In a desperately poor country like Pakiland, it is better to concentrate on basics like roti, kapra or makaan , and of course, not to forget ,diffa,, the so-called defense of the First Islami Atomic Takat , which should be # 1 priority of the list, ahead of roti, kapra, makaan, and now paani, which should also be added to the list ( after defense though  !)
The four-year-old cheetah had been imported as a pair from South Africa in 2017 but the female had survived lesser than the male and her succumbed to her fate earlier.
“We have sent samples to the university and the complete report would be available on Monday,” Deputy Director Lahore Zoo Tanvir Ahmed had told Daily Pakistan at the time. “It is possible the leopard was unable to adjust here and expired,” he had added.
Am 400% sure that this is not the last of the "zoo stories" that will be reported here ! As more and more animals ( and birds also ) due of thirst, hunger and plain negligence , more "zoo stories" will also be "created" . !
Not being able to adjust is no justification when the entire point is to make the animals adjust and to make them as comfortable as they would be in their original habitat. If keeping up with their diet and needs is hard, then simply choose to send them into the wild. Lahore Zoo needs to fix it’s actions since the dead and the uncommunicative cannot tell us what exactly happened to them.
No use competing with countries like India, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka , do away with the "zoo system" . Follow the example of Saudi Arabia ( where there are "probably " private zoos but no public ones, and where the main form of "entertainment" is shopping !)

Pakis Want To Be "Part Of The 2022 FIFA World Cup " Action !

Qatar to procure products, services for FIFA Cup 2022 from Pakistan
ISLAMABAD – Caretaker Federal Minister for Commerce, Textile and Industry Production, Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman has expressed that Qatar could procure goods and services from Pakistan for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, scheduled to be held in the Middle Eastern country in the year 2022.
“As Qatar is preparing for hosting FIFA World Cup 2022, substantial scope exists for procurement of goods and services from Pakistan,” the minister said while addressing the Pakistan-Qatar Business Conference.
Must to clear this first with mai-baap , Saudia ( who is currently embroiled in a dispute with fellow Wahabbi state Qatar !) who may not look kindly to Pakistan "supping with the devil "
Pakistan-Qatar Business Conference which held in Islamabad was attended by businessmen from different sectors of the economy from Qatar and Pakistan to explore ways and means for enhancing trade cooperation between the two brotherly countries. :((
Pakistan, the First Islami Atomi Takat is nowadays is in a "tight corner" nowadays , playing mediation ( unsuccessfully !) between Iran and Saudi Arabia and loudly "shrieking for Islamic unity" to fight Zionism and drumming up support for the so-called "Kashmir cause"
He said that Pakistan’s exports to Qatar have shown an increase of 80 percent in 2017-18 but in value terms, it was only an increase of 37 million dollars. The Minister invited Qatar to invest in Agriculture, food-processing and petrochemical industry in Pakistan. He expressed the hope that this conference would prove a driving force in promoting business to business interactions and public-private partnerships between the two countries.
Knowing the "business and otherwise reputation of Pakistan" , Qataris should proceed with caution , specially to the influx of illegal Pakis to Qatar under the guise of "helping Qatar" in the 2022 FIFA World Cup
Speaking on the occasion, Qatari Minister for Economy and Commerce, Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani said that currently there were about 851 companies operating in Qatar jointly owned by Pakistanis and Qataris in various fields of economy. He expressed the hope that the current business conference would pave way for many mutual agreements beneficial for both the countries.
“Qatar is open to Pakistani investors who would be welcomed to invest in different sectors, particularly in Hamad Seaport.” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim.

Dr. Christine Un Fair In The News Again :D

American professor faces brief Twitter suspension for abusing Pro-Pakistani Cynthia Ritchie
NEW YORK – Christine fair, the American professor who keeps an eye on the South Asian region, faced a brief Twitter suspension after she abused a pro-Pakistani American travel adventurist, Cynthia D Ritchie.
The Brawl between the two foreigners started when Cynthia praised the beauty of Lahore fort; however, the American academic did not like the appreciation and moved Cynthia to focus on minority persecution in the country. :D
Both the outlanders fired a series of tweets with Fair hurling vile abuses towards the Pakistan-conscious adventurist.Irked by the abuse-laden tweets, Cynthia finally reported the account to Twitter, which locked it, e-mailing the same to Cynthia.‘However, it also announced that Fair’s account will be reopened provided she complies with the guidelines,’ said the micro-blogging site.Fair’s account was up after some time probably due to the fact that she fell in line with the policy guidelines.
Dr. Fair is well known for using "foul language" when she does not get her way
Cynthia has been travelling across the length and breadth of Pakistan and had been portraying the positive image of Pakistan contrary to the propaganda being peddled on the international media. She has also appeared on TV shows with an all-praise attitude for masses.
In this case, it is a matter of dispute as to who is peddling propaganda about Pakistan, Ms Fair or Ms Cynthia Ritchie ! Many would agree with Ms. Fair's current view about Pakistan.

That she is. Probably "recruited by TSP Foreign Ministry" during her tenure in pakiland. Cynthia D Ritchie's (a former Goodwill Ambassador to Pakistan) biography:

Adjunct Communications Instructor, 2010 - 2012, Health Services Academy Federal Health Ministry of Pakistan; lectured at numerous health care facilities in Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar and Lahore, Pakistan.

Her other connection is Houston, Tx, which has a large paki population. She was introduced to the large paki community by the mayor and designated "a goodwill ambassador". She also worked with the local pakis on several legal cases (imagine that!). During her tenure in Pakistan, Ritchie was invited to work as an adjunct health communications lecturer for the Federal Health Ministry in Pakistan and as chief medical writer for a Pakistan-based pharmaceutical company.

In other words, she is oozing with pakistaniyat. Unfair is not wrong.

Paki Newspaper : There Is A Noxious Badboo ( Odour ) In The Air About The Ganja Judgement !

Road to salvation
The Express Tribune
July 8, 2018
It’s a weak judgment based on a bad law. But it is a judgment by the court of law, and it is a law passed by a legally elected parliament. And so it holds. For now. Till it is suspended by a higher court. If it is suspended by a higher court.
Paki Law is based on expediency ! What is halal today becomes haram tomorrow, if another persons sit on the "power chair"
But till that happens, if it happens, Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt (retd) Safdar are guilty of corruption and their status is legally changed from being suspects to becoming convicts.
It is a seminal moment, no doubt about it. But seminal not just in the way that Imran Khan thinks; seminal not just in the way that Nawaz Sharif thinks and seminal not just in the way that the Establishment thinks — in fact it is seminal for all the wrong reasons. :D
Wrong reasons? What could possibly be wrong with a former prime minister being held to account for his proven corruption? What could possibly be wrong with law being applied ruthlessly and indiscriminately against men and women of power? In fact what could possibly be wrong with the system cracking down on white-collar crime and actually proving it in a court of law?
Nothing really wrong with all of this, you say. In fact it’s a moment to celebrate the coming of age of a nation that has always seen some people, some classes, and some institutions hover above the law. On Friday July 6th all this changed and a new dawn seems to have dawned upon us all. But wait. Hang on a minute. What’s that contradiction peeping through the key hole of the door that is supposed to lead to our collective salvation? Why is it not clapping and cheering and dancing with joy? Why does it want to be heard above the raucous din of electioneering?
There is a reason, a fairly legitimate reason, for the contradiction to assert its presence, and it goes something like this: Nawaz Sharif’s conviction is a victory for justice but if the justice is selective, then the victory belongs not to justice but to those who select the selective application of justice. This is as subtle as a sledgehammer smashing your little finger.
One could well ask this relevant question that IF the judgement is about corruption, then what about fauji corruption, which every Aam Abdul suspects is on the same level as Ganja Sharif's ( Ayub Khan, Mush and Kayani to cite a "few" examples !)
There’s more. This seminal moment in our judicial history — reflected in Friday’s judgment — should inspire a new heightened level of confidence in our judiciary and raise the bar for all future judicial pnouncements. And yet…
( Iftikhar Chaudri was corrupt via his son! )
Yet why does a certain feeling of discomfort hang in the air like noxious odour — a feeling grounded in not being taken by surprise at the judgment, a feeling of a passive acceptance of the way things have always been managed in this land, how the canvas is painted not with a brush dipped in paint but in intent, and how the same sword gets a steady supply of heads to decapitate. If the law wields its own sword, who wields the law?
Good question :D
The sweet fragrance of rot is wafting along mightily well. If you think it’s coming from him, you’re right. If he thinks it’s coming from you, he’s right too. We are all wallowing in it together, ladies and gentlemen, and imagining the gutter to be the Promised Land. For where else would the courts proclaim legal discrimination against minorities while politicians stoke the embers of religiosity, where else would right-wing fringe group be dusted off shelves and flung like grenades into the electoral arena while allowing them to weaponise their rhetoric with hate, bigotry and intolerance and where else would filth mongers be allowed to pollute the airwaves with their poisonous verbiage while mouthing off praises for freedom of expression. Alice just stumbled into blunderland.
The newspaper is only talking about the "political odour" and not the financial badboo from the fauj !
Alice just stumbled into blunderland.
She’s in for a shock because she’s the only one not in the game of ‘pretend’. For everyone else, existence is an unending series of winks and nods to one another, to the system and to the world at large. It’s a wink and nod of acknowledgement that the system is skewed but it is mighty fine for us to play along with the notion that it is not. Just like it is mighty fine for us to pretend that yesterday’s dirty, rotten scoundrels are today’s winning candidates because they were baptised by the shimmering light of change.
Change can be value-neutral. Something changed this Friday but we’re not sure what?
The change — if one may dare call it such — is the emergence of a new hybrid of governance that promises us a better life. This change has a logo: mailed fist in a velvety democratic glove. We’ve experienced so many types. Why not give this one a try too? After all, we don’t have much to lose.
What with the faujis clamping down on the Paki media ( with a iron fist in a velvet glove ) , this Paki writer should make sure where the Red Lines of the Deep State are

Ganja's Son-In-Law Arrested

Captain (R) Safdar finally arrested by NAB in Rawalpindi
8 Jul, 2018
RAWALPINDI – A team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials finally arrested Captain (r) Safdar Awan, a son-in-law of ousted PM Nawaz Sharif, from party’s office at Rawalpindi’s 6th road on Saturday. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, who has been convicted in a corruption case pertaining to upscale London properties of Sharif family for abetment, had been on the run since the verdict in Avenfield reference was out on Friday.
The Maryam’s husband, who was in the run for elections from NA-14 constituency, could not take part in elections as the accountability court has barred him and his spouse from contesting polls for ten years.

After Ganja, Is It Now Dus Percenti, Zardari's Turn To Get Caught In Deep State's Shenanigans

Pakistan’s ex-president Asif Zardari named in money-laundering case
KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday obtained the remand of Hussain Lawai, Chairman Central Depository Company (CDC) and a close aide of Pakistan’s former president, Asif Ali Zardari, after registering a case against him and others for using a fake account to launder Rs35 billion ($288 million).
According to a case registered by FIA’s Banking Circle Karachi, the former president and leader of the Pakistan People’s Party, Asif Ali Zardari, and his sister, Faryal Talpur, are among 13 people who benefited from the arrangement. The police first investigation report (FIR) says that M/S Zardari Group (Asif Ali Zardari, Faryal Talpur, etc) got Rs15,000,000 and were among the beneficiaries of the transaction trail of fake bank accounts maintained by Omni Group, owned by Anwar Majeed, another close aide of the former president. Different entities owned by Majeed can be found in the list of depositors and beneficiaries of the fake bank account maintained in the name of a citizen without his approval. The FIR found that one of the depositors in the fake account turned out to be M/S Bahria Town Karachi project and Zain Malik, who had deposited Rs750,000,000. Both Malik and the spokesperson of his Bahria Town Karachi project did not respond to Arab News’ requests for a comment.
One day you are safe from Deep State and the next day you are not . Is there a message her for Dus Percenti here
Muhammad Ali Abro, assistant director of FIA’s Karachi Banking Circle, informed the local magistrate that during the inquiry into the suspicious transaction of 29 accounts, it was established that one of them was fraudulently opened in the name of Tariq Sultan by using his national identity card.“This account was subsequently used to place illegitimate funds for purposes of money-laundering,” reads the FIR, a copy of which is available with Arab News.
According to the FIA, when Sultan denied he had opened the account, the agency started conducting its inquiry and the signatures on bank documents were found to be forged.
The FIA obtained the money trail and interviewed those involving the opening of a fake account, leading the agency to conclude that Hussain Lawai, the then chairman of Summit Bank, had ordered the opening of the fake account for money-laundering purposes. According to the agency, the investigation of another 28 accounts is under way.
Pleading not guilty out of the court of the local magistrate, Lawai told the media he did not know if he was arrested because of Asif Ali Zardari. “Only time will tell why I have been targeted,” he said.An FIA spokesperson told Arab News that the offense had occurred between 2014 and 2015. However, the Pakistan People’s Party and independent analysts have been questioning the timings of the investigation and arrest for different reasons. “Asif Ali Zardari has also been maligned in the past. I am really not surprised to see his name in the FIR,” Farhatullah Babar, former president’s spokesperson, told Arab News.
Until "yesterday" Zardari was in the forefront in "demonizing" Nawaz; now that Ganja is "out" Deep State may be focusing their attention to this "crooked Wadera"
“To me, this seems to be part of pre-polls rigging. Zardari spent 11 years in jail without conviction. The present bubble will also burst into nothingness,” he added.
Senior analyst Mazhar Abbas claimed the appearance of Zardari’s name in the money-laundering case seemed to be an effort to dispel the impression that federal institutions such as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), had only singled out the former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif.“In the foreseeable future, we may also see action against the former president-general, Pervez Musharraf,” Abbas told Arab News.Fazil Jamili, another Karachi-based political analyst, maintained that the FIR was part of the establishment’s minus-one formula, which, he said, was being applied to all major political parties. “After minus-Altaf and minus-Nawaz, it seems to be Asif Ali Zardari’s turn,” he said.
Whether Zardari and his PPP party will be neutralized before the election remains to be seen !
He added: “This is a significant development and may produce negative election results for PPP since it is likely to damage the party’s credibility.” As the situation stands, the former president’s son, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, is running his party’s election campaign and addressing public rallies in the provinces of Sindh and Punjab.

Academics protest denial of Indian visa to Pakistani delegates
July 07, 2018
NEW DELHI: In protest against the decision of Ministry of External Affairs to deny visas to Pakistani academics for attending a seminar in New Delhi, nearly 80 scholars from several universities such as Yale, Harvard and Princeton have mooted a resolution to not hold conferences in such countries any more, The Indian Express has reported.
India had banned the scholars from attending the conference organised by the Association for Asian Studies and Ashoka University in New Delhi. The Association for Asian Studies, since 2014, has been holding an annual conference called AAS in Asia. The previous conferences were held in Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, while this year’s event is scheduled to be held from July 5 to 8 at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
About 80 scholars attended a protest meeting, which raised enough funds to rent a hall at the conference’s venue in New Delhi so that the banned academics could join them digitally.
USA, as a matter of course, routinely denies visas to Iranis, NOKOs scholars etc etc . So, what is the problem here ! Visa is NOT a right, but a privilege ! The "80 scholars" are lucky that were able to do their "protest". If the tables were reversed, they would have been allowed to do such a thing in "democratic" Pakistan !
“As a scholar of Pakistani origin working on Pakistan, I received the AAS’ reply to the Indian government’s restrictions on Pakistani scholars [including those who are dual nationals but originally from Pakistan] with deep concern and disappointment,” a statement by Salman Hussain from The Graduate Centre, CUNY, read. Hussain is one of the academics who was not allowed to travel to India. :D
“I am dismayed with the AAS’ tepid response to the blanket ban — based on the association’s presumption that this reaction was expected of the Indian government given the tense relations between the two countries,” Hussain added.
Hussain is want they call "collateral damage"
Independent researcher Sinjini Mukherjee, one of the organisers of the protest meeting, said there has been no final decision yet.In a letter to Ashoka University dated February 19, the Ministry of External Affairs had reportedly told the organisers explicitly not to include Pakistani scholars at the event. “The ministry has no objection from the political angle for the proposed event with foreign participants [except participants from Pakistan], as stated in your aforesaid communication, subject to the clearance of Ministry of Home Affairs as applicable and nodal ministry,” the letter read.Several academics have criticised the Association for Asian Studies for failing to inform the participants about the ban.
