I know more about physical attraction than anyone else: Imran Khan on his third marriage
:rotfl: Immyisms...
Just a few days short of the elections, Imran Khan says his marriage to Reham is the "biggest mistake of his life"
Imran Khan has now said that he nothing short of regretful of his second marriage.
the PTI leader got candid about what attracted him to Bushra Maneka
"I did not catch a glimpse of my wife's face until after we were married. I proposed to her without seeing her because she had never met me without her face being covered with a full veil."
"The only idea I had of what she looked like came from an old photograph I had seen in her house."
But now that he's married to her, he said, he "was not disappointed" and is "happily married."
His wife is a Sufi scholar
"My interest in Sufism started 30 years ago. It changed my life. Sufism is an order with many levels, but I have never met anyone who is as high as my wife. My interest in her began with that."
The 65-year-old said he's finally realised that there's more to a person than "physical attraction."
I have great respect for my wife's intellect and character.
I am past the age of socialising. I am quite happy with this life.
Imran says he has one major regret in life: "Normally I don't say anything about Reham, but I will say this: I've made some mistakes in my life, but my second marriage has to be the biggest.

ECP postpones elections in NA-60 after Hanif Abbasi's conviction
July 22, 2018

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced on Sunday that polling in the NA-60 constituency has been postponed due to PML-N candidate Hanif Abbasi's disqualification by the Control of Narcotics Substances (CNS) Court of Rawalpindi a day earlier.
The ECP in a press release said that the preparations for the general elections were in their final stages and ballot papers for the constituency were already printed with Hanif Abbasi's election symbol on them.
As the ECP is "bound to provide a level playing field to all candidates [...] the general election in NA-60 is postponed and will be conducted after the scheduled general elections, along with other postponed elections".
Randi-baaz Rashid is the favoured candidate of the Deep State . It will be easy to (s)elect him once the scheduled (s)elections are completed
On Saturday, Abbasi was arrested and sent to Adiala jail after he was convicted by the CNS Court of Rawalpindi and handed down life term in the case related to misuse of controlled chemical ephedrine. Abbasi was contesting election against Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid from NA-60, Rawalpindi. The PML-N did not have a covering candidate in the constituency.
So, the PML-N Party is effectively removed from the scene !
The ANF had registered a case against Abbasi and his accomplices in June 2012 under Section 9-C, 14 and 15 of the CNS Act under which a convict may be awarded the death sentence.

Plausible reasons behind dwindled turnout in PTI rallies
What are the possible, plausible reasons behind dwindled turnouts in at least four election campaign rallies of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Punjab
Is it the general fatigue, faced by the PTI activists and workers? Is it inclement weather? Does Imran Khan’s remark bringing in “donkey” for those going to the Lahore airport to receive Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam on July 13 on their return from London keep the general public away from these events?
The PTI chairman, who is very confident about his success in the July 25 polls precisely as he was self-assured in the 2013 elections, is said to be unhappy over the inadequate turnout in the public gatherings, arranged in Jhelum, Jhang, Shahdara and Sialkot.
People are still coming (to the Jhelum episode), but unfortunately, I have to leave the place because my helicopter can’t fly at night.

Now that Imran is "into" Sufism, will the Taliban now disown him, for abandoning the "franchise name " of Taliban Khan ?. How will Saudi Arabia , the "opponent" of Sufism, and a proponent of Wahabism, look at this new Avatar of The Khan . So, Shahbaaz is right when he calls out The Kaptaan for his many U Turns

ISPR asks SC to look into 'serious allegations against state institutions' by Justice Siddiqui
July 22, 2018
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), via Twitter on Sunday, requested the Supreme Court of Pakistan to "initiate appropriate process to ascertain the veracity of the allegations" made by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the Islamabad High Court.
"An honourable judge of Islamabad High Court of Pakistan has leveled serious allegations against state institutions, including honorary judiciary and the premier state intelligence agency," reads the press release shared by Director General of ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor on Twitter.
The statement shared by the army's media wing says that "in order to safeguard the sanctity and credibility of the state institutions", the Supreme Court of Pakistan has been requested to "initiate appropriate process to ascertain the veracity of the allegations and take actions accordingly."
Now, this is almost laughable. The Deep State is following "proper protocol" and passing the buck to the Paki Supreme Court, who in turn "follows orders" from the Deep State ( including Ghafoor of ISPR)
Earlier on Sunday, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar took "serious notice of a speech delivered by Justice Siddiqui [...] alleging interference of intelligence agencies of the country in judicial matters".The top judge has also called for complete record of the speech from the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra).Justice Siddiqui, while addressing the Rawalpindi Bar Association on Saturday, had claimed that the agency's personnel were manipulating judicial proceedings against the Sharif family."Their [the agency's] personnel get benches formed at their will," Justice Siddiqui had alleged.
Now, obviously, ultra - Islamist Siddiqui is no angel himself . Some sort of a corruption has been allegedly leveled against him. And therefore, now , he has turned rogue . He is part of the overall corrupt judicial system that exists in Pakiland . But the timing of this is very interesting . Let us see what CJP Saquib does ( probably nothing !)
He had further claimed that the spy agency had approached IHC Chief Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi and said: "'We do not want to let Nawaz Sharif and his daughter come out [of the prison] until elections, do not include Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui on the bench [hearing Sharifs' appeals]'."
"I know who takes whose message to the Supreme Court," Justice Siddiqui had further said.He had asked: "Why was the administrative control of the accountability court taken away from the Islamabad High Court?"He had further alleged that the judiciary's freedom has been divested and that it is now in control of "those with guns"."I was told that 'if you assure us of decisions in our favour, we will end references against you'," Justice Siddiqui, who faces a corruption reference later this month, had claimed, adding that he was offered to be made chief justice of the high court by September.
Remains to be seen, if Siddiqui - singing like a canary - will be able to save his own skin
Chief Justice Nisar, during his day-long visit to Karachi on Sunday, told reporters: "Being the top judge, I am making it abundantly clear that there is no pressure on us. We are working under the supremacy of the Constitution and the law.""Such statements are inconceivable and unacceptable," he continued, adding that he will take into consideration all possible legal actions on the matter. He assured reporters that legal action would be taken and the facts of the matter brought before the public."No one can dare put pressure on the judiciary," he said, clarifying that he wanted to apprise the public in their own interest, not because there was any pressure on the judiciary to do so.
:(( Lying with a straight face is one of the "strong points" of this "overworked and underpaid" My Laard.
Two references against Justice Siddiqui of the Islamabad High Court are pending at the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC). The first reference pertains to a corruption case filed against him by an employee of the Capital Development Authority (CDA). In the second reference, the SJC is reviewing his critical comments regarding the role of the army in last year's Faizabad sit-in led by the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan.
Siddiqui is well known for his bias against the besieged Ahmedis of Pakiland !
The SJC will be holding an inquiry against Justice Siddiqui with regard to the above-mentioned references, which, unlike past SJC inquisitions, will be conducted in an open court.
Doubt that this "last minute" drama is going to make any sort of difference to the outcome of the Paki election. Will only reinforce the perception that the elections are rigged . !!!

ISI doesn't want Nawaz, daughter out of jail till elections: Islamabad High Court judge - PTI
A Pakistani high court judge today alleged that the country's powerful ISI spy agency is pressuring the chief justice and other judges to get favourable verdicts in different cases, including against ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

Speaking at the Rawalpindi Bar Association today, Islamabad High Court judge Justice Shaukat Siddiqui openly lashed out at the Inter Services Intelligence for "controlling" the judiciary and media.

"Today the judiciary and media have come in the control of 'Bandookwala' (army). Judiciary is not independent. Even the media is getting directions from the military. The media is not speaking the truth because it is under pressure and has its interests," he said.

He said, "In different cases, the ISI forms benches of its choice to get desired results. The ISI had asked the chief justice to make sure that Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz should not come out of jail before the July 25 election. It also had asked him not to include me in the bench hearing the appeal of Nawaz Sharif and his daughter in the Avenfield case. The CJ told ISI that he would make a bench of its choice."

The bench deferred the Sharifs' appeal case after polls. Both Sharif and Maryam are serving 10 and seven-year terms, respectively, in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi in the Avenfield corruption case.

Both were arrested on July 13 on their arrival from London after an accountability court found them guilty over his family's ownership of four luxury flats in the UK capital.

Siddiqui further said, "I was offered by the ISI that a reference against me would be withdrawn if I agreed to cooperate with it. I was even offered to be made chief justice. But I refused as believe that it is better to die than to sell my conscience."

The judge said the judiciary and media are a voice of people's conscience. "If their freedom is curbed then Pakistan will remain no more an independent country. Owing to military dictatorship during half of 70 years of its history, Pakistan today is neither an Islamic nor a democratic country," Siddiqui said.

Pakistan Army asks SC to take action after judge blames ISI for interference - PTI
The Pakistan Army on Sunday asked the Supreme Court to take action, a day after a high court judge accused the country’s powerful ISI spy agency of meddling in the affairs of the judiciary and pressuring the chief justice and other judges to get favourable verdicts.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the Islamabad High Court had alleged that the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was manipulating judicial proceedings in several cases, including that of ousted premier Nawaz Sharif.

“Their [ISI] personnel get benches formed at their will,” Justice Siddiqui had alleged.

Army spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor in a statement said that an honourable judge had leveled serious allegations against state institutions, including judiciary and the premier intelligence agency.

In order to safeguard the sanctity and credibility of the state institutions, honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan has been requested to initiate appropriate process to ascertain the veracity of the allegations and take actions accordingly,” he said in the statement.

Earlier Chief Justice Saqib Nisar also took serious notice of Justice Siddiqui’s remarks.

The top judge also ordered the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to provide the complete record of the speech.

Hajam Sethi Criticizes The Military Establishment On Behalf Of His Chief Patron - Ganja Sharif :D

The Trial
20 Jul 2018
Najam Sethi- Friday Times
Let’s face it. Whatever some may think of Nawaz Sharif’s omissions and however much others may hate him for his commissions, the fact remains that he has demonstrated the courage of his conviction that the unaccountable Miltablishment has no business interfering in the affairs of an elected government, much less in engineering its rise or fall.
Nawaz has held firm to this conviction since 1993 when he was dismissed from office, restored by the Supreme Court and then compelled to step aside. He met the same fate in 1999 and spent seven years in forced exile. Now he is behind the bars for the same “crime” (he insisted on putting General Pervez Musharraf on trial for treason and demanding an end to the politics of non-state actors in domestic and foreign policy). He could have spent another ten years in exile in the comfort of his luxury flats in London – much like Benazir Bhutto, General Musharraf or Altaf Hussain, closer to home, and Lenin, Khomeini and many others in historical time — and looked after his ailing wife. But he chose instead to return, along with his daughter, and go straight to jail “to honour the sanctity of the ballet box”.
This is an unprecedented political act with far reaching consequences. It has driven a spike in the Punjabi heartland of the Miltablishment and irrevocably degraded the ultimate source of its power and legitimacy. The provinces of Balochistan, Sindh and KP have witnessed outbursts of anti-”Punjabi Miltablishment” sub-nationalism from time to time but this is the first time in 70 years that a sizeable chunk of Punjab is simmering not against the “subversive” parties and leaders of other provinces but against its very own “patriotic” sons of the soil. This is that process whereby the social contract of overly centralized and undemocratic states is rent asunder. In that sense, it is the Miltablishment which is on trial.
From the reports in the Paki press, it seems that Ganja's popularity has not dimmed in view of his defiant gesture to face prison time !
Unfortunately, the judiciary, too, is on trial. In a democratic dispensation, it is expected to fulfil three core conditions of existence. First, to provide justice to lay citizens in everyday matters. Second, to uphold the supremacy of parliament. Third, to remain above the political fray as a supremely neutral arbiter between contending parties and institutions. On each count, tragically, it seems amiss. Hundreds of thousands of civil petitioners have been awaiting “insaf” for decades. The apex courts are making laws instead of simply interpreting them. And the mainstream parties and leaders are at the receiving end of the stick while “ladla” sons and militants are getting away with impunity. At some time or the other in the past or present, controversy has dogged one or more judges. But the institution of the judiciary is in the dock of the people today because it is perceived as aiding and abetting the erosion of justice, neutrality and vote-sanctity. In 2007, the “judicial movement for independence” erupted against an arbitrary act by a dictator against a judge. In that historical movement, the PMLN was fully behind the lawyers and judges. The irony in 2018, however, is that the same lawyers and judges are standing on the side of authoritarian forces against the PMLN.
In the closing days of the election, it seems that the judiciary itself has now split between pro Nawaz and anti Nawaz factions in the light of "Justice" Siddiqui's recent rant against the Deep State
The third “pillar” of the state – Media – is no less on trial. It is expected to “freely” inform the people so that they can make fair and unbiased choices. But it is doing exactly the opposite. A couple of media houses have succumbed to severe arm-twisting and opted to gag themselves; many have meekly submitted to censorship “advice”; most are silent or blind for material gains. The proliferation of TV channels was meant to be a bulwark against authoritarian or unaccountable forces. But a failing economy and political uncertainty has pitted the channels against one another for the crumbs, which has given a leg up to those on the “right side” of the fence. At any rate, the corporatization of the media by big capitalist interests has served to protect the powerful at the expense of the weak.
Deep State monitors are keeping an eye on MSM and social media and suppressing news favourable to Ganja and other lesser known opponents of Deep State !
Finally, the fourth pillar of the state — Parliament — is about to be stripped of its representative credentials. The castration of the two mainstream parties and their leaders is aimed at empowering one “ladla” leader and his party, a host of militant religious groups and a clutch of opportunist “independents” to storm the citadels of the legislature.
The so-called caretaker govt is openly siding with the favourite candidate !
Is all hope lost? Are we collectively fated to be victims of a creeping authoritarian and unaccountable coup by the “pillars” of the state in tandem?
No. Sooner than later, the media and judiciary will begin to crack. Neither can survive by being “pro-government or pro-Miltablishment” for long. Every chief justice seeks to make his own mark on history as distinct from his predecessor and no judge can shrug away the weight of popular opinion for long. The electronic and print media, too, cannot allow social media to run away with independent digital news and analysis pegged to financial sources outside Pakistan. Meanwhile, we, the people, must get ready to suffer.
And this is only the "political" hazards mentioned above. The "economic" hazards are much more serious : falling value of rupee, insolvency problem, the outsourcing of social sector spending , the water and bijli shortage and the "application" to IMF for a bailout !!!

According To This Reuters Report, The PML, PTI, And PPP Party Are "Not Islamic Enough" For The New Religious Parties !

Hardline Islamists push religion to center of Pakistan election
July 22, 2018
Reuters
LAHORE, Pakistan (Reuters) - Pakistani cleric Hafiz Saeed is one of the United States’ most-wanted terrorist suspects, accused over the 2008 Mumbai attacks that killed 166 people. At home, his charities are banned, as is a new Islamist political party launched by his followers.
None of that has stopped Saeed from hitting the campaign trail for Pakistan’s July 25 general election, denouncing the outgoing government as “traitors” and whipping up support for the more than 200 candidates he backs.
“The politics of the American servants is coming to an end!” Saeed thundered at a rally this month in the eastern city of Lahore, where supporters showered him with rose petals.
The main race in Wednesday’s vote is between the party of now-jailed former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, which is seeking a second consecutive term despite its leader’s downfall on corruption charges, and the party of former cricket star Imran Khan, perceived as the favorite of the powerful military.
But both parties are not acceptable.- not Islamic enough- to this rogue Mullah cum Terrorist !
But a bumper crop ( thanks to the seeds that were sown during Zia days  ) of ultra-Islamist groups are also contesting the poll, with the potential to reshape the political landscape of the nuclear-armed Muslim country of 208 million people with anti-Western rhetoric and calls for ever-stricter interpretation of sharia, or Islamic law.
The proliferation of religious parties appears to be a fulfilment of a proposal made by Pakistan’s military to “mainstream” armed Islamists and other extremists into politics, though the parties and the army deny any links.
( The Army has also denied pressuring the media , the army has also denied that they are "behind" missing persons, etc etc  )
Even if, as expected, they win few seats, liberal and secular-minded Pakistanis say the sheer number of religious party candidates, combined with their ultra-conservative rhetoric, has already shifted the agenda in their direction.
With the new parties routinely accusing opponents of blasphemy or treason, mainstream parties have echoed their language in attacking Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
“The ostensible attempt to mainstream the religious right-wing is not making these parties take relatively moderate positions,” said Saroop Ijaz, a lawyer for Human Rights Watch. “But rather, it’s radicalizing the mainstream.”
Imran Khan's PTI Party is a "good" example of this shift. To cater to votes, they are now supporting Anti- Ahmedi measures, which the "new" religious parties are mouthing . !
Religious parties - some new, others established - are fielding more than 1,500 candidates for national and provincial assemblies, compared with a few hundred in 2013.While Pakistan has always had Islamist parties, the new entries are notable for their alleged links to militants and their rhetorical attacks on mainstream politicians’ piety or patriotism.
Pakistan’s three main parties all stress devotion to Islam, but the new religious parties portray them – especially the PML-N - as leading Pakistan down a Western-inspired path away from the country’s Islamic values. One new party, Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan, campaigns under the rallying cry “death to blasphemers” and is fielding 566 candidates.
This is the "new kid on the Islamic block" . Their "Leader" Khadim Rizvi emerged not of nowhere and the Military Establishment cowed down to his "demands" !
Its candidates rail against the PML-N as blasphemers for a small abortive change last year to election law, which was quickly reversed after nationwide protests in which at least seven people were killed. The change was to the swearing-in oath for candidates - from a religious vow to a simple declaration - stating the Prophet Mohammad was God’s last messenger, a central tenet of Islam.
In May, a man police identified as a Labaik supporter shot and wounded then-Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal as he left a meeting. He told interrogators Iqbal had to die because he was a blasphemer.Tehreek-e-Labaik leader Khadim Hussain Rizvi condemned Iqbal’s shooting. But this month, he said the party could not be held responsible.“We didn’t instigate anyone. These are the emotions of the nation,” Rizvi told Reuters, adding. “In a way, it rightly happened.”
He also came out with a " shocking " statement that if his Party came to power, he would bomb Netherlands with an Islamic bum , because they are going to hold a cartoon competition on PBUH
Still, Imran Khan has also invoked the blasphemy controversy in campaign speeches, defending such language in a recent interview with Reuters.
“You cannot be a Muslim if you don’t believe that the Prophet, our Prophet, is the last prophet,” Khan said. “So to reiterate and support it is just standing with your faith.”
Getting votes is the name of the game !
While Tehreek-e-Labaik is a legally registered party, other movements fielding candidates are officially banned in Pakistan but have bypassed the legal restrictions.
Pakistan’s Election Commission this year rejected Saeed’s Islamic charity’s application to register a political party, the Milli Muslim League, but the group later registered candidates under the name of an existing party, Allahu Akbar Tehreek, which now campaigns with Saeed’s image on its posters.
Saeed is accused of masterminding the 2008 attacks on India’s financial capital. The United States offers a $10 million reward for his conviction over the attacks, in which several Americans were killed. Saeed denies any involvement.
Another party, the Sunni extremist Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ), is also fielding dozens of candidates under a different name, even though it is banned as the political wing of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), which has killed hundreds of minority Shi’ite Muslims. The party denies links with LeJ.Last month, ASWJ leader Muhammad Ahmed Ludhianvi’s name was removed by a caretaker government from Pakistan’s terrorism watchlist, cementing his own candidacy.
A spokesman for the Election Commission of Pakistan, Altaf Khan, asked about the banned groups’ candidates, said no illegal group had been registered.“If some political party is registered with us, and it has come through the (legal) process, what’s wrong in it?,” Khan said.
The Election Commission Of Pakistan cannot by any standards be deemed to be and independent and impartial organization . It is a "tool" of the Deep State !
However, the military did propose “mainstreaming” militant-linked groups into politics in a 2016 National Security meeting, military and government sources have told Reuters. The plan was pitched as a way to reduce violence and extremism under the model of the Northern Ireland peace process.
Critics say the real goal is for new ultra-religious parties to cut into the conservative base of Sharif’s party and confer legitimacy to Islamist militants the army has long been accused of nurturing as proxies in its rivalry with India.
Remains to be seen if Deep State has succeeded in its plan to marginalize Ganja's PML Party !
Analysts say even with the increase in candidates, Islamists are unlikely to win more than a dozen or so seats in parliament.
But that might not be the point. Pakistani author and analyst Ayesha Siddiqa, a longtime critic of the military, believes the army, tired of civilian governments challenging its grip on foreign policy and large chunks of the economy, is seeking to weaken mainstream parties.“The military wants to alter, engineer the national discourse,” Siddiqa said. “They want to build a new nationalism. They want a new identity, and that is Islamic identity.”
They will be "using" the new Islamic Parties to keep a check on Imran Khan's PTI, IMO !

Captain Complaints . ! Invokes Conspiracy Theory Of International Agenda !

International establishment is backing Nawaz: Imran Khan
July 21, 2018
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday claimed that the international establishment did not want him to come to power.
Imran was addressing a rally in Karak as a part of PTI’s campaign for the upcoming general elections.“I am standing against the international establishment which is backing Nawaz Sharif,” said the PTI chief.
Alluding to USA, UK, India , Saudia - or who knows
He added that preventing him from coming into power is an ‘international agenda’. Moreover, the PTI chief urged people not to cast vote for independent candidates as ‘they can’t do anything for them’.
Imran was addressing a rally in Karak as a part of PTI’s campaign for the upcoming general elections. “I am standing against the international establishment which is backing Nawaz Sharif,” said the PTI chief. He added that preventing him from coming into power is an ‘international agenda’.
Thank Allah, that he did not use the more loaded sentence of "conspiracy against Pakistan and Islam "
‘Independent candidate sell their support after winning elections,’ claimed Imran.
All political parties are busy in running their campaign as there are only three days left in the conduct of the general elections for the 15th constitutional assembly of Pakistan.
Like a spoiled child, he has also "threatened" that unless his party has a clear mandate from the awaam, he is willing to sit in the opposition . Let us see, if he maintains THIS promise , as he is known to make a U Turn every few days !!!

ECP limits powers of military personnel after Senate drubbing

ISLAMABAD: After coming under staunch criticism from different sides, the Election Commission of Pakistan in a fresh notification has limited magisterial powers of military personnel set to be deployed in and outside the polling stations in upcoming elections.

The ECP had issued a notification on July 10, giving extended powers to the armed forces personnel to be deployed at polling stations across the country from July 23 to July 27 ‘for provision of secure environment to assist ECP in conduct of for free, fair and transparent manner.’

The appointment of 371,000 armed forces personnel in elections with magisterial powers were criticised by and large while Senators also on Saturday expressed serious reservations over such powers.

The ECP took strong exception to the comments and criticism of the senators and termed it based on disinformation. It further clarified that all the security personnel deployed in and outside the polling stations are supposed to first report to the presiding officer about irregularity or malpractice.

“The commission has expressed serious reservations about statements made and the impression created in the house about independent constitutional entity which is working with complete freedom and impartiality.”

It further stated that interference in the domain of legal authorities is tenable neither legally nor morally and such act through allegations will not serve the democratic principal. It added that it is for the very first time that security personnel will be performing duties under a notified code of conduct after taking oath.

The fresh ECP notification read, “In respect of offences punishable under section 174, 176, 177, 183 and 194 of the aforesaid act shall be constituted with the words in respect of offences under section 169 (personation) and section 171 (capturing a polling station or polling booth) punishable under section 174 of the aforesaid act.”

In the amended notification, referring to the Elections Act 2017, the ECP has taken back several powers and the magisterial powers will be wielded only in two scenarios.

It includes personation as per section 169 in which “a person is guilty of personation, if he votes or applies for a ballot paper for voting, as some other person whether that other person is living or dead or fictitious.” Similarly, Section 171 is about capturing a polling station, or booth besides stopping voters from entering the polling station.

And the both of the said offences will be punishable under section 174 that states that —any person guilty of the offence of corrupt practice shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with fine which may extend to one hundred thousand rupees or with both.

While other powers under section 176 about disorderly conduct near polling station while authority under section 177 if a person canvases or solicits voters within radius of 400 meters of the polling station has been withdrawn. Similarly, under section 183 —if a person guilty of the offence of illegal practice shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine which may extend to one hundred thousand rupees or with both—stands withdrawn.

The said powers now rest with the presiding officer. If army personnel see any such offence they will first inform the presiding officer and if latter does not act to prevent the irregularity the security staff will bring the matter to the notice of the designated office-in-charge of Pakistan armed, civil forces.

Above all, the powers of police officer under section 194 given to the army personnel has also been withdrawn in which any person could be arrested without arrest warrants if that person removes a banner, removed by the presiding officer but commits an offence inside the polling station.

Shoebaz vows to make Ātaṅkavadīsthan better than India

LAHORE: Ātaṅkavadīsthan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shoebaz Sharif on Saturday said that people can change his name if he does not take Ātaṅkavadīsthan ahead of its arch-rival India after coming into power. By the Powers invested in me I hereby rename thee "Shoebaz".

Addressing a rally in Sargodha, the PML-N president said, “If I do not end load shedding crisis in six months, you can change my name,” adding “They will come to Wahga Border and call Ātaṅkavadīsthani’s their Beggers!”

The former Punjab CM said that he would bring Ātaṅkavadīsthan at par with Malaysia and Turkey. He added that he would visit Mahathir Mohamad and Tayyip Erdogan to learn from them and make Ātaṅkavadīsthan a great nation again.

Shoebaz under fire for ‘ditching’ elder Sharif

Shoebaz said that Ātaṅkavadīsthan cannot become a great nation by voting leaders like Imran Khan who have made false promises to “our nation”. The U-turn signs should be removed from roads and should be replaced by the picture of Imran Khan,” He said adding that Khan’s politics is based on baseless allegations and false promises.

“Imran Khan alleged corruption against the Punjab government but not a single penny has been proved against me,” he said adding “In fact, a corruption case has surfaced from Peshawar metro.” The former Punjab CM said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government gave contract of the Peshawar metro bus to a blacklisted company due to which the cost of the project has surged from Rs38 billion to Rs68 billion. “The entire Peshawar city has been turned into a pile of rubble,” he added.

The PML-N president said that Nawaz Sharif came back to Ātaṅkavadīsthan leaving his ailing wife in London. He said that Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were arrested. “Nawaz Sharif was not even allowed to meet his mother,” he added.

Shoebaz said that the court judgement on page 171 read that no corruption case has been proven against him then why was he imprisoned. Ātaṅkavadīsthan needs justice, not revenge,” he said, adding that the people should come on July 25 and give their decision in favour of PML-N.

Nawaz Sharif ‘on the verge of kidney failure’ in Adiala

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is reportedly ‘on the verge of kidney failure’ and a medical board has recommended his immediate transfer from Adiala jail to a hospital.

Urea nitrogen in Sharif’s blood had risen to a dangerous level, and he is suffering from excessive sweating and dehydration due to humidity in the prison. His heart beat is also irregular, Express News quoted sources as saying on Sunday.

Jail authorities have requested the Ātaṅkavadīsthan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) to form a medical board in this regard. The interior secretary has reportedly given the green light to form the board.

The board, consisting of heart, kidney and diabetes specialists, is set to examine Nawaz on Monday morning and based on their recommendations, the former PM may be shifted to a medical care unit.

The Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology and Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology are among the hospitals, which have been recommended thus far.

On Saturday, Nawaz’s incarcerated son-in-law Capt Safdar reportedly fell ill and paramedical staff was called to assess his condition.

He fell ill during a meeting with his legal team, said sources.

According to prison officials, doctors from the District Headquarters Hospital Rawalpindi were called to check on Safdar. He will not be shifted to a hospital unless doctors advise further medical attention.

Express News reported back on Wednesday that Maryam Nawaz was being shifted from Adiala jail to Sihala rest house amid ‘security concerns’. Maryam had complained about prison conditions and was not eating the cooked meals being given to her.

The former prime minister, who had arrived in Ātaṅkavadīsthan from London last week, is currently serving his sentence in Adiala Jail, while his daughter and son-in-law are also inmates of the same prison. Nawaz was awarded 10, Maryam seven and her husband Safdar one year jail terms in Avenfield reference by the accountability court earlier this month.

As The ( Egoistic) Chief Justice Of The Islamic Republic Of Pakistan ( The First Islami Atomi Takat !) My Laard, The Hon Saquib Nisar Does Not Like It One Bit, When A Fellow Judge Criticizes Him

CJP Nisar responds angrily to Justice Shaukat’s statement
RAWALPINDI: Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar expressed anger on the statement of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui in which he alleged that an agency was interfering in the superior judiciary’s matters.During hearing at the Karachi Registry on Sunday, the CJP remarked that the judiciary is working freely.
“I felt saddened to read the statement of an Islamabad judge. As the head of judiciary, I assure you that we are not under any sort of pressure,” the CJP observed.Justice Shaukat of the Islamabad High Court, who is facing a reference of misuse of authority against him in the Supreme Judicial Council, threw barbs at the agency for its alleged interference but he gave no evidence in support of his allegation.
Both of these "justices" deserve each other . One ( Saquib) is in the pocket of " Deep State " , while the other is in the pocket of Jamaat E- Islami ( until very recently, he also was "sleeping" in the bed provided to him by Deep State )
"I was told that if I pass judgments on ‘their’ directives, then the references against me will be withdrawn," he said, while addressing at the Rawalpindi District Bar Association (RDBA) officer here.
Justice for sale.? Hope, like the lawyer of POTUS, he too has a recording. Otherwise, it will be case of "he said" and "he said"
"I was also assured that I will be made chief justice of Pakistan in September and not even November. But I don’t care about my job, as you do not become a judge through your post but through just ways," Justice Siddiqui upheld.
Saquib has recently "mused" about retiring. He wants to follow in the footsteps of his fellow Pakjabi, General Raheel Sharif. He is angling for some sort of a Chief Legal Advisor position with the Non-NATO Muslim Organization To Fight "Terrorism". IMO, he has the right credentials . He is NOT a Shia
He said the judiciary was 50 per cent responsible for the country’s current situation while the institutions were responsible for the rest.
How did he arrive at the 50-50 split
"For a while now I have been wanting to present myself before the bar for accountability. I wanted to do that because only my bar can hold me accountable and there have been no corruption charges against me to date.""Whenever I pass a judgment in a crucial case, a group starts a campaign, claiming that there are corruption references ongoing against me," he added.
There are very very few Justices in Pakistan who are not tainted by corruption. Late Supreme Court Justice Of Pakiland , Justice Dorab Patel ( a Parsi) was one of them. He refused to pass a guilty verdict in the infamous Z.A. Bhutto murder trial . Obviously, Siddiqui does not fall into that category !
"However, I am clean and thus requested the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) to conduct my open trial and invite lawyers to see if there is any truth in the corruption allegations. If any corruption charges are proven then I will resign," Justice Siddiqui continued.
He also urged lawyers to become a source of decreasing crime. "Do not become a facilitator, as there is no shortcut for success," he said,He further lamented, "Today, even the independent media has cowed down."
Public memory may be short. But this is the same Justice, who denied that "missing person" were the work of the Deep State, when the Paki media reported that Deep State is involved in this matter !
Agencies add: Justice Siddiqui claimed that this agency had also approached the IHC chief justice for constitution of choice benches. He claimed that the IHC Chief Justice Anwar Khan Kasi had been conveyed that they did not want Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui on a particular bench. The IHC judge said that the law students are still not aware of Justice Munir’s role which is revealed every now and then.He said the judicial freedom had been compromised and now it was in someone else’s hands.
Whichever way the election goes, things do not look bright for Shaukat Siddiqui

At a time when economic challenges are multiplying on account of external woes and the case for another bailout package is becoming stronger and stronger, there is a need to float an idea that could help Pakistan avoid this disaster that will only add to its chronic indebtedness.

Grenade attack on BAP's election office wounds 20
At least 20 people have been injured in a hand grenade attack on an election office of Balochistan Awami Party in Dalbandin, police said.
This was the third attack on an election-related activity in Pakistan within 12 hours.
Former chief minister Akram Durrani’s rally also came under firing in Bannu.

K-P police reforms: myth and reality

syed akhtar ali- Express Tribune

July 22, 2018
Politics is the art of perception management. Politicians often employ the old tried and tested advertisement techniques of repeating certain phrases or sentences umpteen times till the listeners believe them as a matter of truth. “We made police misali in the K-P province” is one such piece of mythology that has become an essential part of list of achievements presented by Imran Khan. I am proud of serving the police department for almost 30 years but in my capacity as a former home secretary and having held senior positions in the K-P police, I deem it as my duty to put the record straight by differentiating the myth from reality.
The last two governments that served the province were of the PTI (2013-2018) and the ANP (2008-2013). I would, therefore, briefly review the nature of reforms introduced by these two governments and the financial injections provided in each of the tenures.
Let us first look at the situation that existed in the country and the K-P province in 2008. The Taliban outfits had established parallel governments in many districts of K-P province and were regularly attacking personnel and premises of the law-enforcement agencies. In such an environment of real and imminent danger, the then provincial ANP government rightly considered revamping and rebuilding of the police department its top priority. It, therefore, developed a “Comprehensive Development Strategy and Post Needs Crisis Assessment Programme” with the assistance of the World Bank. As money makes the mare go, the ANP government enhanced the budget of the police besides increasing its Annual Development Programme. We can notice that financial resource allocation reached its peak in 2010-11 during the ANP’s government. With more finances available, the police force acquired better human resource as the number of police personnel swelled to 75,000 in 2013 from 32,000 in 2006-7, which is a staggering increase of 134 per cent. In order to achieve reforms-related targets, a ‘Project Coordination Unit’ was also established which empowered the police force to initiate and run its developmental schemes.
So, here the Home Secretary is praising the ANP Govt !
Now let us turn to the 2013-18 period of the PTI government and examine what specific reforms were initiated and executed by this government. PTI leader Imran Khan, in his speeches, and also in the manifesto, had vowed that the Station House Officer (SHO) system would be replaced by the US-styled sheriff system where the SHOs would be elected by the local people. Nothing of such sort came about in the PTI’s era. We, however, did see some pictures being splashed on social media pages of the party showing a model police station on the pattern of police stations in the developed countries to create a perception that the K-P police have been modernised to an extent. The reality on ground is that the buildings of main police stations in Peshawar, let alone smaller cities, are still in dilapidated condition. People, however, did see greater presence of traffic police personnel but that was possible due to the additions made to the police force by the previous government. Therefore, the credit should go to whom it belongs. In the PTI’s tenure, the police force’s strength reached 82,000, thus registering an increase of 9 per cent which dwarfs in comparison with what the ANP government did in its tenure. The ‘Directorate of Counter Terrorism’ was renamed as ‘Counter Terrorism Department’ making it a focal agency against terrorism and thus relieving the police stations. Hence, the main channel of collecting intelligence and interaction with the community was absolved of its duties. The much-needed forensic lab got completely neglected while the safe city project did not either materialise for improving policing in the KP province.
So, here the Home Secretary is criticizing the PTI Govt !
In terms of financial support, we can see from figures that the growth momentum fell sharply and reached its lowest in 2015-2016 during the PTI’s government. Rather than introducing any substantive reforms, a high-pitched and well-organised propaganda was unleashed to create a perception that the previous government had done very little to provide peace and security to the people. The comparative analysis would, however, make it clear that myths can’t stand long when exposed to the light of facts and evidence.
So, this man, who was "on the inside" gives a plus to ANP Govt and a minus to the Kaptaan's PTI

Experts laud launching of two indigenously manufactured Pakistani satellites into orbit
It is a milestone and ground breaking development that launched two indigenously manufactured satellites into orbit using a Chinese Long March 2C rocket. It is the first optical remote sensing satellite of Pakistan and will be used for land and resources surveying, monitoring of natural disasters, agriculture research, and urban construction and providing remote sensing information for the Belt and Road region. Pakistan’s space program is far better than that of India.
Now, Pakistan has become one of the few countries to have its own remote sensing satellite in orbit.
The satellites were transported to China as the country lacks the infrastructure to launch objects into space.
Pakistan has definitely an edge on India regarding missile technology.

Imran Khan slams the idea that his party's popularity is rising due to the Army
No, its the other agencies, you conspiracy-infected dimwit.
After his usual song-and-dance of achievements his government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can be credited for, and the sad state of economic affairs in the country, he jumped on to address the "very big conspiracy" that his party is being shoved into.
"The Indian media and the parties who are no rigging experts by any means have begun to talk up a storm on the subject. They are saying that the army is rigging the elections.
"Are all the opinion polls which show our party's success also [engineered] by the army?"
"I have called out the army on several occasions. When I said they should not be sent to Waziristan I was labelled 'Taliban Khan'."
He claimed that the foreign establishment wants India to balance the rising influence of China in the region. For this reason, their efforts are geared to remove Pakistan's army from the equation by maligning it, he added.
"This conspiracy against the army is against the country. You have before you the examples of all such countries which had no army to defend themselves. Look at the state they are in today."
He said the nation should be grateful for the army otherwise "the country would have been divided into four parts".
What an ass-kisser!!

He had been on IV drips, multivitamins and antibiotics.

C.P.EC Collateral Damage Of Paki Financial Crisis

Many CPEC projects in doldrums as NHA faces financial crisis
July 23, 2018
ISLAMABAD: A number of road projects related to the $52 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) are said to be in doldrums as the National Highway Authority (NHA) faces financial crisis.
Not only the NHA, but the whole accursed country is in a financial squeeze !
Sources told Dawn that contractors have stopped work on several CPEC projects after their cheques worth over Rs5 billion had bounced a couple of days ago.
And the cheque bouncing will have a "multiplier effect" down the Paki food chain
It is for the first time that CPEC projects faced such a situation because of financial reasons.
You have to take this statement with a grain of salt !
The projects which have been hit by the situation include Hakla-Dera Ismail Khan, Western Route of CPEC and all sections of Karachi-Lahore Motorway (KLM).
According to the sources, seven packages of Hakla-DIK measuring 400km roads all projects of KLM have been affected. The firms whose cheques have bounced include SKB, ZKB, Noman Construction, ACGC Chinese, Sardar Ashraf D Baloch, China Railway 17 Group and Matracon. The sources said that not only the CPEC projects but local industries related to construction and a large workforce of engineers and labourers have also been hit by the situation.
. And this in turn will have an effect on family livelihood etc etc !
When contacted, NHA spokesman Kashif Zaman said the authority issued cheques of Rs5bn on June 29 to the firms against the sanction by the government. He said cheques worth Rs1.5bn were cleared by the same day and “the remaining cheques that were deposited the next day could not be cleared”.Mr Zaman said the matter had been taken up with the government and hopefully it would be resolved soon.
The IMF will take a long hard look at the "whole CPEC business" before they agree to release US Dollars to the hungry Pakis
When asked about suspension of work by the contractors, he said: “The progress on the project had not been affected. Same is true for Hazara Motorway and other sections.” He said most of the projects in question would be completed by December 2018.
In Pakiland, talk is cheap !
However, it has been learnt that the CPEC projects would be delayed further if the situation continues and outstanding dues of contractors are not paid. :D
PS: Some readers are blaming "all weather friend" China for this ! Not knowing that there is "no free lunch"

Ganja Sharif Being Deprived Of "Proper Medical Treatement"

PIMS team says Nawaz to be treated at Adiala: prison sources
July 23, 2018
A medical board from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Monday decided against moving ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif out of Adiala Jail and into a medical facility.
When Nawaz fell ill on Sunday night, a medical team led by retired Gen Azhar Kiani had suggested that he be shifted to a hospital to be treated for dehydration that might lead to heart and kidney complications.
It was reported on Sunday that Nawaz's heartbeat was irregular due to dehydration and that there was presence of urea in blood, which might affect his kidneys.
Sources within the prison management said that the course of treatment for Nawaz will be chosen after the results of all his medical tests are received.Following the reports of Sharif's health issues, President Mamnoon Hussain appealed to caretaker Prime Minister Nasir-ul-Mulk on his behalf, asking to ensure the jailed former leader gets adequate medical treatment.
Mamnoon was appointed by Ganja . So, it his moral duty to save his Patron

Another Confirmation That C.P.E.C Has Encountered A Roadblock In Pakistan

China’s Global Building Spree Runs Into Trouble in Pakistan
Wall Street Journal
July 23, 2018
LAHORE, Pakistan—Pakistan’s first metro, the Orange Line, was meant to be an early triumph in China’s quest to supplant U.S. influence here and redraw the world’s geopolitical map.
Financed and built by Chinese state-run companies, the soon-to-be-finished overhead railway through Lahore is among the first projects in China’s $62 billion plan for Pakistan. Beijing hoped the $2 billion air-conditioned metro, sweeping past crumbling relics of Mughal and British imperial rule, would help make Pakistan a showcase for its global infrastructure-building spree.Instead, it has become emblematic of the troubles that are throwing China’s modern-day Silk Road initiative off course.
Pakistan’s external debt and the money it needs to borrow yearly have increased sharply, partly due to the infrastructure program China launched there in 2015.
Three years into China’s program here, Pakistan is heading for a debt crisis, caused in part by a surge in Chinese loans and imports for projects like the Orange Line, which Pakistani officials say will require public subsidies to operate.
And , according to a local press report , other road projects are on hold due to "bouncing cheques" !
China’s global plan, called the “Belt and Road Initiative,” involves some 70 countries and has been likened to the U.S. Marshall Plan that helped rebuild Europe after World War II. By building a network of ports, railways, roads and pipelines, China aims to open new East-West trade routes, generate business for Chinese companies and expand its strategic influence.
While the Americans mainly used grants in Postwar Europe, China has mostly extended loans in opaque deals often contingent on using Chinese contractors. Pakistan is now one of several countries grappling with the financial and political fallout of taking on so much Chinese debt. The Agreement was not even discussed and debated in detail in the Paki National Assembly, because the details are still hidden from the Paki public !
With a general election in Pakistan scheduled for July 25, an ascendant opposition is pledging to publish secret details about the financing of Chinese projects, including the Orange Line, and Pakistani industry is agitating for less-generous perks for Chinese companies.
It was all done in a haste, without due diligence, such as the environmental impact !
Pakistani authorities have fallen behind on payments for electricity from new Chinese power projects—the bulk of the infrastructure program—because of longstanding problems getting Pakistanis to pay their bills, according to a senior Pakistani official.
Reminder to Pakis that "there is no free lunch"
The problems are expected come to a head by early fall, when Pakistan’s new government is likely to seek a bailout from the International Monetary Fund, the nation’s first since 2013, according to Pakistani officials. Such a bailout would likely include restrictions on borrowing and spending, the officials say, which would force the country to curtail its Belt and Road program with China, known as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, or CPEC.
US dollars will only be released to the new Imran Khan led Govt, if the "secret" details are revealed !
That would be a big embarrassment for China, which has portrayed its plan as a game-changer for this chronically unstable nation of 200 million—and a chance to prove the benefits of its development model to other nations. :D China should well have been aware of Pakistan's confirmed status as a "sleeping partner"

“You’re then effectively having the West bail out this country,” says Andrew Small, an expert on China-Pakistan relations at the German Marshall Fund, a Washington think tank. “If this is where Pakistan ends up financially, I think that’s going to be a big kind of black mark against the entire Belt and Road.”
Unless China is willing to bail out Pakistan. But China is not in the "bailing business" yet. A "concerned" Paki has recently floated the idea of an "Asian IMF" , but then stated himself that "China is not interested in such a venture" !
It also would give the U.S., the largest contributor to the IMF, a strong influence over China’s plans in Pakistan. Washington has been pushing back against what U.S. officials have called Beijing’s “debt-trap diplomacy.” European Union and Indian officials also have stepped up criticism of Belt and Road, saying it lacks transparency and sustainability and is designed to expand China’s strategic influence.
At one time, Bangladesh used to be referred to as a "basketcase of the world "". Now, it is Pakistan's turn to join that rank. As the world cannot afford "not to take care" of the First Islami Atom Takat", lest the Bum fall into rogue hands .
“The Ming Dynasty appears to be their model, albeit in a more muscular manner, demanding other nations become tribute states, kowtowing to Beijing,” U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said in June.Chinese President Xi Jinping rejects such criticism, telling a conference in April his infrastructure program was neither a Chinese conspiracy nor a would-be Marshall Plan, but an attempt to build a “community of shared future.”
China’s foreign ministry said in a written statement to The Wall Street Journal that its Pakistan program remained a model for Belt and Road countries. “Naturally, it will have to adapt to changing conditions, and necessary adjustments will be carried out,” it said, adding that China was in close contact with Pakistan on its financial situation.
As BRF had predicted in this forum, the Pakis have takent the Chinis for a ride
Chinese projects in Pakistan now vulnerable to chopping include an $8 billion railway upgrade central to Beijing’s vision of a new overland trade route, which would link China’s northwest to Pakistan’s Arabian Sea coast, Pakistani officials say. The upgrade aimed to double the average speed on 1,170 miles of track between the port of Karachi and the northern city of Peshawar. “I can’t see how the money would be repaid” for the upgrade, says one senior Pakistani official involved in discussions with China.
:D . Imran Khan , when he comes into power, will blame the Ganja Sharif Govt for this mess , instead of focusing on "fixing the problem "
Work on the Orange Line was halted for 22 months after a legal challenge from activists who said it came too close to historic sites. Chinese officials were “perplexed,” says one person involved in the project. “They said that in China, no one can touch a government project.” Although work resumed in December, the opposition continues to demand investigations into Orange Line contracts.
“The real reason for building these loss-making megaprojects has always been massive kickbacks,” Imran Khan, the main opposition leader, said on Twitter in March. The Sharifs, and Pakistani and Chinese officials, deny that, and Mr. Khan has produced no proof. The controversy leaves Beijing in an uncomfortable spot as Pakistan’s military appears to have thrown its weight behind Mr. Khan.
At an Orange Line test run in May, Shehbaz Sharif —Nawaz’s brother and his party’s new candidate for premier—repeated a promise to build metros for Karachi and Peshawar, despite Pakistan’s debt crisis. “My crime is that I made this Orange Line for the people,” Shehbaz told supporters, standing in front of a banner decorated with his portrait alongside President Xi’s.
