Saudization Policy Spells Tough Time For Pakis !

Saudization Policy – Expats in Saudi Arabia banned from working in 12 jobs
OFW Gazette
Sept 12, 2018
For many decades, Saudi Arabia has been the frequent destination of OFWs going abroad. However, Blas F. Ople Policy Center, a non-government organization helping distressed overseas workers suggested that Filipinos be prepared for the Saudization policy which Saudi Minister had recently announced, banning foreign workers among its 12 sectors in retail and sales.
OFW Gazette is a Filipino publication .Substitute "Pakistanis" ( ie Pakis !) for Filipinos and it could apply equally to the Citizens of The Land Of The Pure
In a news reported by ABS-CBN News, the Saudization policy will take effect on September 11, 2018, which will stop hiring foreign workers including theFilipinos (Pakis ) in car and motorbike showrooms, ready-made clothes, home and office furniture stores and home appliances and utensils store.
On the other hand, effective November 9, foreign workers will also be banned in electronic stores such as watches and clock store and optics stores. And on January 7, 2019, they will be banned in medical and equipment stores, hardware, carpet selling stores and sweet (mithai !) shops.
Aside from Saudi, Ople said some countries in the Middle East had started the same policy just like Oman who had started their 6-month ban among the expatriates.
But in the midst of the risk that the Saudization policy may bring to the Filipinos, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through Sec. Silvestre Bello III expressed confidence that returning OFWs will have their jobs because of the Philippine government’s “Build, build, build” program under Duterte administration. Aside from the program, Bello III assured that there are livelihood programs to help the OFWs. Returning Pakis/ Deported Pakis will face the "opposite" situation. No jobs, no accommodation etc etc
PS: Indian Ex Pats will feel the heat from this new policies as well . But there are relatively less Indians likely to be affected in the 12 categories ! Also, returnees do not face a bleak situation in India as returnees face in Pakiland !

https://www.dawn.com/news/1432474/cjp-l ... ses-agenda
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Wednesday, while hearing a case on the Dadhocha dam, lashed out at critics opposing the construction of dams in the country, saying that they were pursuing "someone else's agenda".
Damn, now CJP is on to another dam - Dadhocha.
He added that there would be "no compromise on this issue", whether those criticising the move were "well-known scientists or political leaders".
"We won't let the agenda to not build dams be successful." the CJP said. "We will build dams under all circumstances." {CJP wants to accelerate his retirement fund!}

The CJP, who was heading a three-judge bench, made the remarks during a case pertaining to land earmarked for the construction of the Dadhocha dam.

In 2006, the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) had purchased 18,000 kanals at the site where the dam was to be built and launched a housing scheme as a joint venture with Bahria Town. The DHA Valley scheme, meant for the bereaved families of martyred military personnel, was proposed as the dam site. {Will the Fauj and THE Premier Institution be OK with the CJP poking his nose into their land?}

Pakistan’s national grid is ‘bankrupt’: Bloomberg

NEW YORK: Pakistan’s power transmission and distribution system is “bankrupt”, which requires extensive overhauling, Bloomberg says in a report.

“In Pakistan’s Tharparkar desert, Chinese and Pakistani workers toil in the blistering heat to complete the construction of a massive open pit coal mine and an adjacent 660 megawatt power plant four months before schedule. The roadblocks will come soon after,” the report says.

“When Engro Corp, one of Pakistan’s largest conglomerates, which is partnering with China, begins generating electricity from the plant in December, it will hit a distribution and transmission network that is essentially ‘bankrupt’, according to Shamsuddin Shaikh, the chief executive officer of Engro’s energy arm,” it added.

Bloomberg quoted Shaikh as saying, “The system has already collapsed, really the system is just existing because the government every few months will churn out some money, dole out some money and the system keeps on working.”

“Lots of overhauling is required. Distribution needs to be improved, the theft needs to be removed from the system,” he added. The report says Pakistan has added half of its power generating capacity in the past five years with Chinese help but a weak distribution network means companies and households are still bereft of electricity. Prime Minister Imran Khan faced immediate complaints after he was elected premier by lawmakers last month when the nation’s largest city Karachi was hit by an all-night blackout. Residents in the metropolis of more than 15 million took to Twitter to vent anger at the local distribution company K-Electric Ltd and mock Khan’s promise of a new Pakistan.

“Widespread theft, along with a bloated debt and imbalanced payments system, are the major causes of Pakistan’s electricity challenge. Government-mandated tariffs aren’t high enough to recover costs and subsidies are rarely paid on time, leading to what is known locally as circular debt that has accumulated to about 1.2 trillion rupees ($9.7 billion), according to the finance ministry,” the report says.

“It’s not possible for anybody to give that money, they have to improve the system,” said Shaikh. “They need to privatise the distribution system, they just cannot go on like this.”

According to Bloomberg, “Khan’s government, which is facing a potential bailout from the International Monetary Fund, has pledged to reduce that debt by fixing the aging transmission network and limit distribution losses. His Movement for Justice party said in its election manifesto that it would support the expansion of Engro’s Thar coal project, as well as renewable power generation.”

“However, Khan’s administration has already ruled out selling its loss-making state corporations after previous governments failed to make headway because of strident unions or financial mismanagement at the companies. Karachi’s K-Electric is Pakistan’s only privatized distribution company and managed to stem outages by implementing a strict billing and collection system since 2008 -- though it still faces challenges from circular debt and an aging grid that has yet to be significantly revamped.” No money for Electricity Distribution as ALL THE MONEY GOES TO THE ARMY FOR DEFENCE OF TERRORISTAN!

The report says Engro’s coal power project is part of a wider wave of Chinese-constructed plants across the country raising generation that has helped the nation add 11,000 megawatts in the past five years to combat Pakistan’s continual blackouts. China is financing infrastructure projects worth about $60 billion as part of the Belt and Road initiative and has increased Pakistan’s machinery imports. That has exacerbated Pakistan’s financial crisis as the nation’s current-account deficit continues to widen.

“Engro, which was previously owned by Exxon Mobil Corp, is looking to expand in the power sector. The coal project will continue expanding in phases with investments reaching as much as $9 billion by 2024, making it the biggest project in terms of cost while it plans to bid for wind and hydro projects,” it added.

The report ends with a quoted statement of Shaikh, “Pakistan doesn’t have a generation problem, it’s more a transmission, evacuation and distribution problem and we at Engro are looking into these things.”

Report cites Engro official as saying power generation isn’t an issue, it’s about transmission, evacuation and distribution problem

Suspending aid to N-state not done lightly: US - Anwar Iqbal

WASHINGTON: US National Security Adviser John Bolton said that the decision to suspend military aid to Pakistan was not taken lightly as the Trump administration was fully aware of the consequences of taking such an action against a nuclear weapons state.

In his address to a Washington think-tank — the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies — earlier this week, Mr Bolton also said that the US wanted Pakistan to cooperate fully in war against terrorism as “it’s a matter of extraordinary importance” to America.

“It was before my time, but the Trump administration did not take the decision to cancel a substantial part of the military aid package to Pakistan lightly,” he said.

“It was done knowing full well that Pakistan is a nuclear weapons state, and the risk that the government could fall into the hands of terrorists that would get control of those nuclear weapons was particularly serious.”

In January, President Donald Trump suspended most of military aid to Pakistan, accusing Islamabad of allowing the Taliban to use its territory for attacks in Afghanistan. Last week, the Pentagon urged Congress to allow it to use for other purpose the funds that had been set aside for Pakistan.

The re-allocation ended the possibility that the funds earmarked for Pakistan could be released if Islamabad agreed to take the required action against various terrorist groups.

But during his visit to Islamabad last week, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had pressed the new Pakistani government that it was still possible to “reset” the US-Pakistan relationship if Pakistan agreed to rein in the groups reportedly operating from its soil.

Mr Bolton said Secretary Pompeo wanted to convey the message that “we hoped and expected that Pakistan would cooperate fully in the war against terrorism, which they had committed to do.”

He said terrorism was “a serious threat” to the entire subcontinent but Pakistan needed to act against terrorists because it’s also a threat to its own existence.

He said terrorism was also “a matter of extraordinary importance for the United States” and that’s why it wanted the new Pakistani government to address it.

Mr Bolton said during his visit to Islamabad, Secretary Pompeo wanted to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan but could not.

Although a journalist reminded him that Mr Khan chaired the meeting between the US and Pakistani delegations, Mr Bolton did not correct himself.

This caused some to speculate that perhaps Mr Pompeo wanted a separate meeting with the prime minister.

Another hare-brained idea by I'm the Dim shredded to pieces.

Rhetoric & reality - The pipe dream of planting 10 billion trees in five years
Key paragraphs:
And now we have another tree tsunami inflicted upon us. This time, it is ‘10 billion trees’ in five years. Let’s begin by doing the sums: the per annum figure comes to 2bn trees or just under 5.5 million trees per day! The only silver lining in this madness is that the government has broadcast a list of all the indigenous trees that will be planted. It has no mention of eucalyptus or conocarpus. That is commendable. But there are questions. Where will the daily supply of 5.5m saplings or seeds come from? And that — unfailingly — over the next five years?
In Lahore, there are two nurseries (that I know of) managed by the Forest Department rearing local species. Right now, their total output will not be more than 3,000 at the most. In order to replenish, they need to prepare cuttings, which will take over six weeks to sprout — and this only between March and October. Even if there was a miraculous shower of hundreds of billions of seeds from the sky, the new plants will not be ready anytime soon.
Therefore even if motivated young people perform the miracle of planting, say, 100,000 trees across Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, most of these will be lost to grazers: the survival rate of indigenous species is about 15 per cent. In a word, the target of 10bn trees in five years is a pipe dream — dreamt under the influence. (influence of what? Zam Zam?)
Add to this math, where is the money to buy 10 billion saplings, to plant the saplings, maintain the saplings, and then to periodically water the saplings in a water-starved nation? Hain?

Qureshi summons envoy to UK to explain behaviour at IPPA awards
FM has become a crusader of sorts.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Thursday expressed his disappointment at Pakistan High Commissioner to the UK Sahibzada Ahmed Khan's on-stage antics at a recent television award function in London, and summoned him to explain his behaviour.
The high commissioner, in a video that has gone viral, can be seen behaving erratically and speaking incoherently for several minutes on a microphone during the IPPA Awards 2018 held at London's O2 arena on September 9.
Apparently this guy showed up drunk!

By the way, another paki high commissioner to UK had addressed a qadiani convention in 2015. Back then I guess it was OK for a paki representative to do so.

TLP "Cobra" Coming To Bite Back Premiere Institution

Khadim Rizvi among other 'firebrand clerics' barred from entering Islamabad
Express Tribune
Sept 13, 2018
ISLAMABAD: Authorities in Islamabad have barred 12 firebrand clerics from making speeches during the month of Muharram with 14 others not allowed to enter the federal capital for a two-month period for inciting sectarian strife.
The orders issued by the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) district magistrate, stating that the 26 clerics who have been banned were “sectarian agitators, firebrand speakers and likely to indulge in sectarian activities”.
The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) took the decision in view of the past record that include former Lal Masjid’s Abdul Aziz, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen’s (MWM) Ameen Shaheedi and Nasir Abbas Jafri, as well as, Tehreek-e-Labaik chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi, and several other Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) leaders.
These "snakes" were nurtured in ISI backyard. But now, there is a "risk" that they may come back and bite their own masters !
“The above named ulemas shall not enter, reside or remain in the revenue limits of District Islamabad for a period of two months from the date of issue of this order,” the magistrate’s order said for the latter 14 clerics,” the order states.
The orders, issued under the West Pakistan Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance 1960, said the clerics placed under ban were likely to deliver provocative and sectarian speeches which could create animosity and hatred between various religious sects and disturb public peace and order.“In the current security environment of ICT coupled with threat perception of terrorism, it is apprehended that any break out of law and order due to sectarian violence may be used by terrorists as an opportunity to achieve their objectives,” the order reads.
Hafiz Suar is not included in the above. He is a different breed altogether

Ganja Budget Out ! Imran Budget In !

PTI govt decides to present its own federal budget
Sept 13, 2018
ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has decided to present its own federal budget. It has also been decided to make vast amendment in 2018-19 finance bill to bring in the tax exemption matter of previous government.Sources stated that previous government of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML N) had given tax exemption to those who have Rs 1.2 million annual income and now Imran Khan-led Federal government has decided to bring this limit to Rs 0.8 million.Recommendations would be presented in Finance Bill in order to increase the tax revenue. The National Assembly session has been summoned on Sept. 14 for this purpose.
Regardless of the merits or otherwise of some of these measures, Ganja's legacy is slowly and surely being erased ( name changes etc etc )

'You can’t keep exporting terror, and have talks too' - Rajat Pandit

Nirmala Sitharaman, who last week completed a year as the country’s first full-time woman defence minister, says the new Imran Khan-led Pakistan government must deliver on the terror front if it wants the bilateral dialogue to resume. She also tells that Congress is misleading the people about the Rafale fighter deal. Excerpts:

Pakistan PM Imran Khan has said: “if India takes one step, Pakistan will take two!” Will the bilateral dialogue process resume?

PM Modi has made it very clear since 2014 that we want a very good relationship with all our neighbours. He invited all heads of state from the neighbourhood for his swearing in, and after that, he has made further efforts particularly with Pakistan. But the bottom-line is there cannot be talks just to improve the relationship, even as Pakistan entertains terrorism from its soil.

Ten years have gone by since 26/11 terror strikes in Mumbai. But there is no sign of the legal process taking its course in punishing the handlers in Pakistan. Whereas in India, we have proven the way our courts handled the case of Ajmal Kasab and he was given the due punishment. We don’t see anything like that happening in Pakistan despite dossiers after dossiers being complied and handed over.

Terror can’t go along with talks. Ceasefire violations continue to happen and nonstate actors are also trying to infiltrate across our borders. Our armed forces are very efficiently eliminating them at the border, or in the hinterland if they somehow manage to enter.

Nepal has snubbed India by refusing to join the BIMSTEC exercise while being set to hold an exercise with China. Has our relationship worsened?

It’s not a snub at all. Some of their people are participating (three observers). It is only that the Nepalese Army chief, who was supposed to come over, had some fixed prior schedule after recently taking over. He has to finish all that before he formally engages outside. We have been given a reasonable explanation. I don’t want to read anything more in it. India and Nepal are clearly working together with BIMSTEC.

PM Modi has shown his friendship to Nepal and at times of need, as a good neighbour, we have stood by Nepal. One of the earliest visits of the PM after he took over was to Nepal. So, we feel very close affection for the country, and that has been periodically reciprocated by the people of Nepal too.

China’s defence minister was here last month. How do you see the relationship with China after Doklam?

There was extraordinary chemistry between PM Modi and the Chinese President () during the Wuhan summit in April. Subsequently, the spirit of Wuhan has governed every bilateral meeting. China also welcomed PM Modi’s talk at the Shangri La Dialogue, where he put out a very clear picture of how he sees this region developing. China has referred to several points he made and welcomed them.

As for the Line of Actual Control, there are many sections where the border is not officially demarcated. So, there is a difference in perception. Sometimes, our people cross over what is perceived by the Chinese to be their line, and vice-versa. Faceoffs are due to this perception differential. There are institutional mechanisms like border personnel meetings and fag meetings through which these differences are sorted out.

Congress is attacking your government over what it calls the biggest-ever defence scam in the Rs 59,000 crore Rafale fighter deal. Has the govt has tied itself in knots and failed to present a coherent defence?

That’s not true at all. Even with all the given limitations in giving the details of the complete deal, we have told the basic facts to Parliament, mentioning the cost of the basic aircraft also. Several questions have been answered but the Congress is astounded that there is not one whisper of corruption against this government in over four years, how even a portfolio like defence is run without any scandal. Middlemen were the only route through which the Congress did anything in the name of defence procurements during its time.

The Rafale deal is through an inter-governmental agreement, without any middleman or illegitimate transaction. There are no Quattrocchis, no Win Chadas, no payments in in it. Foreign investigation agencies tracked the money trail in Bofors, identified that Quattrochi who had access to the first family of Congress was going in and out with the money.

Congress alleges we have guided Dassault into going with a particular private company as an offsets partner, not with a PSU. Offset guidelines have existed even during the UPA regime. Offsets decisions are commercial decisions taken purely by the original equipment manufacturer like Dassault.

The secrecy pact with France pertains more to the operational or technical capabilities of the aircraft and classified data. What is so secret about the price?

We are also saying this. My predecessors and I have disclosed in Parliament the cost of the basic aircraft. The Congress is purposely pitting two totally different figures and doing a false comparison. It is comparing the basic aircraft price of their period with what they claim is the basic aircraft price now with all the add-ons. The basic aircraft price now is at least 9% cheaper than the basic aircraft price of their time if the annual escalation clause is taken into account. Congress is making a wrong argument and misleading the people.

What were the tangible outcomes in defence of the 2-plus-2 dialogue with the US? Will inking the military pact COMCASA compromise India’s strategic autonomy?

Not at all. The agreement is an India-specific COMCASA. It will help our platforms communicate better, in a secure and encrypted manner, with those that have come from the US. We have kept all our security considerations in mind. It’s not as if we are opening everything up to them.

The 2-plus-2 dialogue is a very significant dialogue. It has helped the US to understand India’s perspective on defence and foreign affairs, and vice-versa. It gives a certain depth and intensity to the relationship. There are several concrete outcomes, from the decision to intensify our military-to-military relations and hold the first bilateral tri-Service exercise next year to the MoU on collaboration on defence innovation. Even before the 2-plus-2, the US took two major decisions. One was to rename their Pacific Command to Indo-Pacific Command. Though symbolic, it underlines the certain importance of India in the region. The other was to give the STA-1 (strategic trade authorization) status to India, the only non-NATO country to get it.

Did the US raise its concern over India’s plan to acquire five advanced S-400 Triumf air defence missile systems from Russia for Rs 39,000 crore?

S-400 was not discussed at all. It was not once mentioned. As I have earlier stated, we are going ahead with the deal with Russia.

Paki "Scientists" Claim Credit For This One !

Discovered in Pakistan: Plastic-eating fungus answer to world’s waste crisis
The International News
Sept 13, 2018
ISLAMABAD: A plastic-eating fungus discovered on a rubbish dump in Pakistan could be adapted to destroy waste on land and oceans, international media reported.
The possibility of breaking down plastic waste within weeks rather than hundreds of years will be highlighted when the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew publishes its first report on the fungus. Experts from around the world will gather at the internationally-renowned Kew Gardens in West London this week to discuss the future of research into the conservation and use of fungi.
The scientists working on a rubbish dump in Islamabad found fungus whose enzyme broke down plastics such as polyester polyurethane.

Sindh CM raises questions over Bhasha dam - Habib Khan Ghori

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Tuesday that he was not against the construction of the Bhasha dam but had “some reservations” about its “location and availability of water in the system” in such a quantity that the dam could be filled.

He was talking to media at the mausoleum of the Quaid-i-Azam where he had come along with Governor Imran Ismail and members of his cabinet to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation on his 70th death anniversary. After laying a wreath and offering Fateha, the chief minister had an interaction with media personnel.

On a question about the Bhasha dam, he said it (the dam site) lay in the seismic area and the quantity of water required to fill the dam was not available in the (Indus) system.

Elaborating on the water position in the Indus system, he said that last year instead of 10 million acre feet (MAF) only 7.5MAF water was released downstream Kotri.

“As a matter of fact, 25MAF water is required [downstream Kotri], otherwise the sea would keep encroaching further upon nearby villages (in the coastal area of Thatta district),” he said. “The history of last 10 years’ water releases downstream Kotri shows that for six years it was less than 10MAF and then it went down further by two to four MAF.”

Mr Shah said that the record of water releases downstream Kotri from 1922 to this date was available with the provincial government (of Sindh). “If anybody wants to verify the figures they are most welcome,” he added.

“Availability of water in the system is a big issue.”

He recalled that “before the construction of the Tarbela dam, 70MAF water was released downstream Kotri at an average and our [Indus] delta was thriving”.

“The Indus delta, which provides habitat to hundreds of different species of marine and wildlife, has been recognised as one of the largest deltas of Asia covering an area of around 14,600 square kilometres,” the chief minister said. “We have to protect it by releasing river water into it, otherwise all nearby villages and cities will vanish into the sea,” he said.

Mr Shah said that the Bhasha dam project was originally initiated by the Pakistan Peoples Party (government), but objections were raised on its technical issues. Therefore, he insisted, “the centre needs to take the federating units on board” over such controversial projects.

The chief minister said that his government and party’s policy on construction of dams was very clear as the Sindh government was constructing 34 small dams and work on them had almost been completed while work on 16 other (small) dams was to begin soon.

18th Amendment

In reply to another question, Mr Shah warned against any attempt to roll back the 18th Amendment saying that the amendment “provides provincial autonomy which has strengthened parliamentary form of government in the country”. “Any attempt to roll it [18th Amendment] back will be strongly resisted,” the chief minister warned.

“The 18th Constitutional Amendment was passed by the National Assembly in 2010 and a parliamentary committee comprising over 27 members from all parliamentary parties had drafted it with collective wisdom and [after] extensive discussion with all stake holders” he recalled.

“I am sure the federal government would not disturb it [18th Amendment], but if any such attempt is made, it will meet a strong resistance,” the CM said.

Rupee weakens to lowest level in seven weeks - Salman Siddiqui
KARACHI: The rupee hit its lowest level in seven weeks against the US dollar, standing above Rs125 in the open market on Wednesday.
It coincidentally came a day after currency dealers met with Finance Minister Asad Umar. The dealers, who participated in the meeting, strongly denied any connection between the two things – rupee’s weakness and the huddle in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Promises, shromises. So, here's where I'm the Dim needs to watch his own wild pronouncements.

PM Imran Khan won’t make any foreign trip for next three months
Prime Minister Imran Khan will not make any foreign trips over the next three months, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said Monday. He went on to say "Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will make the necessary foreign tours himself.”

PM Imran Khan to visit Saudi Arabia next week: report
PTI chairman Imran Khan is likely to make his first foreign visit as Prime Minister of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia next week, Geo News reported.

Pak PM Imran Khan Not to Travel Abroad With Special Plane
In a major display of “change” under new government Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan led cabinet has imposed a ban on first-class air travel by the President, head of the government, Chief Justice, the Senate Chairman and National Assembly speaker and abolished discretionary funds of the PM, federal ministers and the law makers.

And, now this.

7 people are bitten by rats in Peshawar everyday.
“About seven to 10 patients visit the vaccination room daily,” reveals Afrin Jan, chief vaccinator at LRH. In 30 minutes, there were four patients seeking treatment for rat bites. “This has become routine,” he adds.
Peshawar is fast becoming a hub for rodents, which rapidly breed and infest low-income neighborhoods. Rats as big as cats are seen scampering across narrow streets in the day and attacking adults and children in the night, spreading fear and disease among residents.

Please do not misunderstand my intentions here by pasting the below article on how "well" (or poorly) the paki diaspora does financially overseas. This is a factual rebuke to I'm the Dim's clarion call for each overseas paki to donate a thousand bucks to fund the two dams. In effect, the overseas pakis are less likely to be able to find the thousand bucks than it is made out to be.

Not every diaspora Pakistani can donate $1,000.
Cheery picked highlights to substantiate my point.
There is, however, good reason to fear that Islamabad’s clarion call for diaspora-driven crowdfunding could amount to a fool’s errand.
According to research conducted by the Asian American Center for Advancing Justice, their average per capita income is less than $25,000 (compared to $27,000 for the total population).
Nearly a quarter have no health insurance. And while there are plenty of Pakistan-American doctors and financial managers out there, there are also large numbers of blue-collar workers.
According to US census figures, “drivers and other transportation workers” account for the third most common profession among American-Pakistanis.
It’s not just in the US where one can puncture the myth of a monolithically affluent Pakistani diaspora.
Nearly 50pc of Pakistani migrant workers who relocated overseas for employment in 2014, the most recent year when data was available, were unskilled (with another 16pc characterised as semi-skilled), and 40pc of overseas Pakistani migrant workers that year were employed as labourers — which suggests they are far from deep-pocketed diaspora members.
In Spain and Italy, two-thirds of Pakistani migrants have at most a secondary-school education and most are employed in low-skills professions.
Other research has found that a whopping 44pc of Pakistan-born immigrants in Canada fall below the poverty line.
In effect, there are plenty of overseas Pakistanis who can’t easily cough up $1,000.
Not to take away how some pakis have done well in the NY metro area (I know a few pakis who certainly have) the entire premise that the overseas pakis are now the new saviors is foolish and an ingenious way to divert the local awaam's attention from the key issue. The water supply is not getting scarce. Pakis are breeding like rats. That's the key message.

"Fools rush in where angels fear to tread". Is Turkey butting in where it should not? This careless statement in pakhinstan may open up a Pandora's box.

Turkey desires a peaceful solution to Kashmir issue: Turkish FM Cavusoglu
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Friday assured Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi of his country's support in the bid to find a peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue. (OK, nothing morally wrong with this statement, so far)
Cavusoglu said that it's Turkey's wish that the Kashmir issue involving India and Pakistan gets resolved the UN in a peaceful manner.
"In the group that has been formed over Kashmir in the UN, we will stand with Pakistan and try to make [its efforts] successful."
Now, now Mr. Cavusoglu. Did Erdogan say it was Ok for you to say this? Lets not propose support to a misplaced, archaic idea without first understanding the core issues, understanding the due process, and then also realizing the consequences of such irrational promises. Two can play that game.

Lets start with the most pressing issue. There is a UN resolution (yes, the same UN you mentioned in your communique) on the Armenian genocide. Perhaps India can volunteer to support it as well. Then there are the repressed Kurds who are demanding a third of your country as their own. Then, of course, there's the unresolved matter of Turkish-Occupied Cyprus. India ought to wade into that affair on the side of the Greeks. Hey, who can forget Gulen's attempted coup and its aftermath? Gulen is a "philanthropist" with schools and universities. And, yes, the covert Turkish support to the ISIS. By the way, all those Syrian refugees and their boatlifts to Europe. How's that financial venture working out for you?

Yes, two can easily play this game.

Indian FM should ask the resident Turkish ambassador to clarify his nation's position on the Kashmir matter.

I'm the Dim's connections with the Haqqani network. Jamia Haqqania at Akora Khattak

Visitors and economists
Also occurring during the visit was the death of Maulana Jalaluddin Haqqani. As the founder of the Haqqani Network, and because of his ties to the ISI, he was a symbol of all that was wrong with Pakistan. It was partly because of the attacks the Network was supposed to have carried out against US troops that the USA had cut off the Coalition Support Fund reimbursement of $300 million. Haqqani was so-named because he was a graduate of the Jamia Haqqania at Akora Khattak, a madressa which had caused Imran Khan’s PTI to be mired in controversy when the party’s KP government (at that time the only place where it held office) had granted it Rs 300 million in 2016-17, and Rs 200 million from the CM’s discretionary fund this fiscal. The Jamia is headed by Maulana Samiul Haq, who is opposed to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, as the PTI is.
Imran’s attempt to balance out the ‘Taliban Khan’ image by naming an Ahmedi, Dr Atif Mian, to the newly formed Economic Advisory Council seems to have backfired badly, because his government itself has had to ask him to resign.
The expectation that the PTI was liberal and secular was dashed by Dr Mian’s resignation.
The PTI is a little like its principal backer, the Army, in not being sure of its religiosity beyond knowing that it does not favour religious parties. However, Imran repeatedly invokes the state of Medina.

Blind ( Pakistan ) Leading The Blind ( Islam Ummah !)

Pakistan offers SciTech scholarships to OIC member states
ARY News
Sept 14, 2018
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) ( Thank God, it is not PISS !) has announced ten postgraduate scholarships for candidates from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The scholarships have been announced through the OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) ( long name , BS game !) which provides a platform for enhancing science and technology activities collaboration between OIC countries.
Pakistan has been playing a leading role in promoting science and technology in the OIC member countries as host of COMSTECH.The scholarship program has been launched with the objective to assist OIC member states in the development of their science and technology human resources.
Underlying all this "superb strategy", is the assumption that Muslims countries would prefer to send their students to study in an "Islamic environment" . And of course, which country is "better" than Pakistan- The first Islami Atomi Takat . And of course the scholarship is "free " . No "anxiety" of non halal food being served , Friday prayer rooms and/or Friday namaz breaks, female students with Mahrams very welcome, no question of burkha and/ or Niqab being not allowed on campus, Muslim teachers will make reference to "Islamic Science" as well .( No matter that "science" has no religion !)
It will provide full support to outstanding young students from the OIC member states to pursue two-year MS studies in fields including Medical Physics, Radiation Physics, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation and Medical Oncology.
Nothing about passing the "secrets' of the Atom Bum to Ummah countries. Nothing about teaching the "technology" of cars run on water
he OIC is the second largest inter-governmental organisation after the United Nations with a membership of 57 states spread over four continents with a collective population of 1.8 billion people. And of course, Pakistan is the "Leader" of Islamic countries !
The organisation states that it is “the collective voice of the Muslim world” and works to “safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world ( Kashmir is a guaranteed Agenda Item  ) in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony.”

Maulana Diesel Stands Up For The Islam Brigade . Sounds Warning To Imran And The Deep State

Fazlur Rehman doesn’t want madrassas to be registered with NACTA
Sept 13, 2018
Saama TV
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman doesn’t want madrassas to be registered with the National Counter-Terrorism Authority. ( implying that madrassas - echoing the Amreeki line - are a hotbed of radicalism and terrorism  ) He gave the government a warning during a press conference on Wednesday. He said if the government starts this war, its days are numbered.
Rehman said the new government had shaken the trust the country has with China. The economy’s backbone, CPEC, is in trouble. He said Pakistan is once again being brought into the war between the East and the West.
Looks like the Maulana - who has "lost" all his perks under Imran's regime - has fired the first shot, and is now going to be a perpetual thorn against Immy - unless he is offered some sort of an Islami assignment/ post which will guarantee all the perks that he "enjoyed" under Ganja

British Govt refuses to deport absconder Ishaq Dar
LONDON: Ishaq Dar, declared proclaimed absconder by the courts of Pakistan, can not be deported to Pakistan as the British government has turned down the Pakistan’s plea of his deportation.According to ARY News sources, the government of Britain has said that there is no extradition treaty between Islamabad and London for the exchange of wanted criminals, therefore, the request of Pakistan to deport its former finance minister stands rejected.
Imran ( with his Brits connection ) or no Imran, the Pakis seem to forget that the main "industry" of the Financial Capital Of The World- The City Of London is to "attract" all sorts of shady (black ) capital monies from all over the world , launder the same, so it becomes white, collect hefty commissions in terms of legal and other fees and then safely disburse the same to all (four ) corners of the tax haven world. Ishaq Dar is of course is a "valuable customer" . He has to be "protected" . Hence the outright rejection of the Paki request

PM Imran Khan to arrive in Karachi with ‘good news’
Sept 14, 2018

From One "While Elephant" To Another "White Elephant"

Pakistan to turn palatial PM House into university (VIDEO)
Sept 13, 2018
ISLAMABAD – The Prime Minister House will be turned into a postgraduate institution, said Minister for National History and Literary Heritage Division Shafqat Mehmood said Thursday. Addressing the media, Mehmood said that the people of the country were annoyed by the previous governments’ “royal standards” of living and thus Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided that he will not stay in the Prime Minister House and governors will not reside in Governor Houses in an effort to not waste public money.
Looks good for optic reasons. The Kaptaan will definitely score some "brownie points" such as the hare-brained promise of 5 million affordable homes for the needy !
The minister informed that the annual expenditure of the Prime Minister House amounted to Rs 470 million. He stated that the property would be turned into a “top-class” educational institute and that the land behind the Prime Minister House would also be judiciously utilised.
The "conversion"of the "Palace" to an "University" also will cost a lot of money. And where is the money coming from for this purpose ?
Later, briefing the media on the decisions taken by the government, he said following the 100-Day agenda of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the government is transforming Governor House-Murree into a Trust Complex as well as Punjab House and Governor House-Rawalpindi into educational institutions respectively.
Just like the Ayatollahs of Iran who "capitalized " on the hedonistic life style of the Shah to earn "brownie points" with the Irani public !
Talking about the Governor Houses in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mehmood said, they will be turned into museums, whereas the Governor House in Nathia Gali will be made into a state-of-art resort.
Decisions related to other government offices will be taken later, he added.
Maybe, the Kaptaan will tap into the "resource bank" of his well heeled supporters in Bartania and Massaland, as he has decided "not to touch" IMF !
He also mentioned the huge and luxurious state buildings like governor houses, CM houses, rest houses, residences of secretaries, commissioners, DCs etc.“At one hand the nation was burdened with debt and on the other, we have the elite. This system was created by the British during the colonial era to rule the masses, but even after independence the same practice was being followed,” Imran Khan remarked.
If memory serves me right, Immy's dad was also booked for "corruption" in the Zia era !

In Pakiland, Frontier Justice Is The Norm, Not The Exception !

Man kills brother, sister in Chichawatni
Sept 14, 2018
SAHIWAL – A young man killed his brother and a sister, besides injuring his father, mother and two brothers over a domestic issue in Punjab’s Chichawatni city.According to police, accused Wasim (24), a resident of Ahmed Nagar, demanded money from his father repeatedly to pay off his debt, but on denial, he slaughtered his brother Abdul Rehman, sister Faiza with a knife while they were asleep at night. They died on the spot, said police.
Accused Wasim also attacked his father Safdar Zaman, mother Saeeda and brothers Azeem and Faizan when they intervened to stop him from the brutal act.The injured were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters hospital. The police arrested the accused and further investigation was underway.
Paki Law System is "technically" under Sharia . A hodgepodge of British Era Laws and some patches of Sharia thrown in- by Zia - to "fool" the Awaam, that Paki Justice is definitely Sharia . However the awaam have "no confidence"- because of corruption and endless bureaucratic delays - in these loud proclamations and often resort to "frontier justice" like in this case . Something for the Kaptaan to ponder on

In spite Of Its So-Called Religiosity, Pakistan Is NOT Among The Ten Most Spiritual Countries In The World . India Is

Top 10 most Spirtual countries of the World
Sept 14, 2018
OTTAWA - A new ranking has named Canada the most spiritual country in the world.
On the Global Spirituality Index, released by luxury travel planning agency Wayfairer Travel, Canada took the top spot after ranking highly in categories like quality of life and religious freedom.
Because for the list, authors evaluated countries on more than just the number of people who report a religious affiliation.
That is not "fair" . Pakistan is "highly religious" . ( If you do not take into account, honour killing, frontier justice, rampant corruption, feudalism, discrimination etc etc !)
Along with religious population, diversity, and spiritual sights, the report also scored countries on religious tolerance, freedom, wellness and quality of life. :D
Interestingly, while Canada scored low marks in the category of religious population (2 out of a possible 7 points), it made up for it for the loss in categories like diversity and quality of life, with a perfect seven out of seven score.
To rank Canada as the most spiritual nation , is a bit too "rich" IMHO
After Canada , Italy, India, Japan and the UK round out the top five spots. At the other end of the spectrum, Syria landed at the bottom of the heap, after Slovakia and Iraq.
Obviously, Pakistan is missing from the list . Western conspiracy anyone

'Murree, Nathia Gali governor houses could be rented out at 7-star hotel prices'

Image
Governor House Murree and Governor House Nathia Gali are so luxurious that as boutique hotels in the next few months they could be rented out at 7-star hotel prices, senior PTI leader Naeeum ul Haq said Thursday.
Shafqat Mahmood said that around Rs 1.15 billion were being spent annually on these official residences which would be saved.
He said that the Governor House Murree had been renovated with approximately an amount of Rs 600 million recently, while its annual expenditure was Rs 140 million.
He said the Prime Minister and governors had decided to not live in their official residences, as a good gesture and a role model of austerity for the masses.

This "CPEC Sherbet" Being Doled Out By The PTI Minister ( Previously A Ganja MNA ) Is Hard To Swallow If You Believe The Depressing Comments Made On This Farticle

CPEC to be opened to other countries: minister

Other gems :D
He said Chinese loans were among the $95bn total outstanding foreign loans and the government would meet all financial obligations on Pakistan. He criticised the PML-N government for constructing motorways and roads at a cost of $6bn and the Lahore Orange Line Train project at $2.5bn, but putting the critical Main Railway Line (ML-1) project worth $9bn on the back burner.
adding: “We are working on financial modeling of future projects.”
Mr Bakhtiar, who was a PML-N lawmaker ( a lotta politico  ) in previous parliament,
Mr Bakhtiar said the last government had wasted five years whereby it could not focus on development of Gwadar and ML-1,
The minister said the government would hire independent consultants for devising best design and execution plan for projects like ML-1 because it was necessary to have best possible advice with a cost of $2-3 million before executing them.
In Pakiland, it is all about optics !

Paki F.O . Goes Ballistic

FO refutes allegations levelled in Indo-US joint statement, calls it violation of 'diplomatic norms'
Dawn
Sept 13, 2018
The Foreign Office has taken "strong exception to the unwarranted reference against Pakistan" in the joint statement issued following the 2+2 India-US dialogue between the US Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defence with their Indian counterparts in New Delhi last week, Radio Pakistan reported.
In the Indo-US joint statement issued after the talks, India and US had named and called upon Pakistan to ensure its territory wasn't used to launch terror attacks on other countries. At the weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said, "Pakistan rejects the baseless allegations, we have also conveyed our position to the US side"."Mentioning a 'third country' with unsubstantiated accusations in a formal outcome document is inconsistent with the established diplomatic norms," Dr Faisal said.
. Apart from this "angry language" the usual Paki response to such statements is to invite the Chinese and Russian Foreign Minister to Isloo for "strategic talks" ASAP
The spokesperson expressed surprise that there was no mention in the joint statement of the continued ceasefire violations by the Indian forces along the line of control and the working boundary ( The "esteemed Dr" should know that "core issue" is the internal matter of India !) which poses a grave threat to regional peace and security. Responding to a question, Dr Faisal said, "Pakistan is always ready for talks with India for resolution of all outstanding disputes and both the countries are in contact with each other through track two diplomacy."

This Faisal character is an ISI-chaap guy and is routinely praised by idiot anchors like Hillali and Pirzada for his 'dabangg' andaaz in pushing Pakistan's 'narrative'. The guy is in reality unfit to be anywhere close to diplomacy or foreign affairs, and is an even bigger pompous loudmouth than his boss Qureshi the FM. He was single-handedly responsible for trying to stare down the Americans by refuting that Pompeo had told Imran to stop terrorist activities from Paki soil, and finally had to eat crow and slink away with his tail between his legs when the Americans threatened to release the recording. :rotfl:

Pakis Sulk As "Muslim" Bohras Welcome "Hindu" Modi-ji

Modi become first Indian PM to address Dawoodi Bohra religious gathering
The News International
Sept 14, 2018
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the country’s Dawoodi Bohra community on Friday for their contribution and dedication for the betterment of the state.
The Indian Premier addressed the Dawoodi Bohra community amid an event organized the group at Indore’s Saifee Mosque, which was also attended by the religious group’s head, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin.
“The concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam gives a distinct identity to India from the rest of the world and the Bohra community is an example of it," Modi had stated.
He had gone on to state: “My relationship with the Bohra community goes way back. I always felt at home with them. Even today the doors are all open for them."
This marks the first time an Indian head of state has addressed a religious congregation of Dawoodi Bohras.
