GOI should ensure that upcoming devaluation of Pakistani rupee does not give much advantage to Pakistani exports (textile, rice, leather etc) and is nullified by suitable measure to make Indian exports more competitive. This would be a double whammy for the Shitistanis. They would be paying more for imports but not be able to earn extra in its traditional export items.
India should also make sure that the GSP + status it got for duty free exports to EU countries is not renewed. Mickey Mouse Singh government had given NOC and allowed porkis get that advantage 5 years back and that was a huge mistake.

It is wrong to pass a verdict one way or the other on the performance of the PTI-led coalition government on its efforts to grapple with the immediate and urgent during its first 45 days in power. One would not even like to make a judgment on its first 100 days for which it has set itself seemingly highly ambitious targets.
In developing countries in-coming governments, no matter of what kind are welcomed with open arms by the teeming millions hoping perhaps the new comers would bring in the much awaited change for the better. But the honeymoon period lasts only for a few months and at best a couple of years if its spin doctors are capable enough.
But no matter what little they succeed in doing, it does not take much for the incoming governments to lose credibility in due course of time which invariably means a year or two. This does not happen because governments do not make sincere efforts to deliver on their promises but because of chronic resource constraints they face and the wide-spread multitude of have-nots these countries are burdened with.
The PTI-led coalition government of Prime Minister Imran Khan looks decidedly sincere in delivering on its promises. But its spin doctors do not seem all that capable. From day one they seem to be venturing where angels fear to tread.
Setting up task forces for finding solutions to the multitude of problems facing the country is not a substitute for solutions. So, the spin doctors of the PTI would like to go slow on promoting the exercise of re-inventing the wheels as some kind of panacea.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a product of bilateral agreement between China and Pakistan. There is no room for a third party in the design of the CPEC accord but no country, not even the US nor India is barred from investing in any project along the Corridor. Saudis too are welcome. And since most of the oil that would pass through the Corridor on way to China is likely to be that of the Kingdom’s, it is but logical for Riyadh to think of putting up a refinery in Gwadar, say, at a cost of $8 billion. That would take at least five to six years to complete. But then perhaps its self-confessed protector, the US, would not like it at all.
Also the PTI spin doctors should desist from creating the false impression that the Kingdom is all set to invest its billions in Pakistan starting with a windfall offer of $10 billion to bailout the country from its immediate debt and trade balance obligations.
And mind you, if we are planning to go to the IMF we had better not talk about Saudi oil facility on deferred payment because if we get that facility, the IMF is out for good at least for the period the facility would be available.
Let us also be clear on the matter of quid pro quo if at all we decide to ask for Saudi bailout. Prime Minister Imran Khan has already said that we are not going to fight other peoples’ wars any more. The Kingdom which is at war in Yemen and Syria, on the other hand, is not in a position economically to offer us ‘free lunches’.
Over the past two years, massive capital flight amounting to as much as $150 billion is said to have taken place from Saudi Arabia. Wealthy Saudis reportedly believe their bank accounts are now being monitored. Small cash transfers have been questioned by government officials. Larger transfers are said to have been blocked outright. Efforts to exchange Saudi riyals for other currencies have allegedly been denied. I O W no Monies from either Saudi Arabia or China!
The flight of money out of KSA is said to have coincided with a collapse of incoming investment. A report issued by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development in June provided the details. In 2017, new FDI is said to have plunged to a 14-year low. Since 2016 alone, FDI is said to have dropped more than 80 per cent — making Vision 2030’s target of attracting $18.7 billion in FDI by 2020 appear to be unrealistic.

QUETTA. Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday vowed that the federal government will facilitate the Balochistan government through all means to raise human development level of the residents of the southwestern Pakistani province and set out on the journey to build a “Naya Balochistan”.
By enticing Pakjabis and "encouraging" them to settle in Balochistan and thus making the local Balochis a minority in their own province. !“We will be there for you, whenever you need [us],” PM Khan assured Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal in his address during his maiden official visit to Quetta since assuming office.The Centre will provide the capacity that Balochistan lacks to bring about development that the province has long awaited, he added.
The premier highlighted Gwadar and its role in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is an “opportunity” that can bring immense benefits for the province if it is utilized wisely. He noted that 800,000 acres of land can be used for agricultural purposes if Balochistan is given its water share ( by the Pakjabis of Taunsa Barrage !) through the Kachhi Canal.
Did he discuss the question of "missing persons" with PajwaLater, the PM and the Balochistan CM with key federal ministers visited the Pakistan Army’s Headquarters Southern Command at Quetta Cantt. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa received the PM at the Quetta Air Base to review the security situation of the province.
The premier was given a detailed briefing on Balochistan’s security situation, challenges and responses. He was also briefed about the Khushal Balochistan socio-economic development program, (what an Orwellian name !) the security of China Pakistan Economic Corridor projects and the progress of fencing along the Pak-Afghan border, according to a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations.
According to the ISPR, Gen Bajwa said that after the attainment of stability in the troubled areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s focus has shifted to Balochistan, “the economic future of Pakistan”. IOW, more aerial bombing, more throwing "terrorists" from helicopters , more displacing of locals on the excuse of road building, denying fishing grounds to the locals of Gwadar etc etc
“The PM said that through a comprehensive national effort, cooperation between federal and provincial governments and the assistance of the army, we shall realise the true potentials of Balochistan. No one is "forcing" Saquib to buy Nestle !ISLAMABAD – The Chief Justice of Pakistan justice Saqib Nisar said on Saturday that he has left drinking water by Nestle Pakistan which lacks minerals and ingredients necessary for healthy water.
The CJP remarked in a case pertaining to a forensic audit of operations of a private mineral water company and quality check of all major bottled water brands.
CJP Nisar is "exercising his authority" through his "loose mouth"The top judge said the water sold by mineral water company is not according to the water quality standards and it lacks all that is written on the bottle.
Earlier, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, who was heading a two-member bench, issued the order while hearing Suo Motu case pertaining to the alleged exploitation of water resources by mineral water companies operating in the country at the Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry.
The Katas Raj pond, of course is the property of The Hindu Temple (near Chakwal ) now seized by the Paki Govt . The Paki Govt is openly exploiting the water resources of this Holy Temple . The bonding has become stronger even though China has moved on, befriended many more countries and expanded its influence across continents. However, like first love its relations with neighbouring Pakistan are special and, therefore, durable.
Immy is now reviewing all CPEC projects !In Pakistan, CPEC is commonly referred to as a ‘game-changer’ even though some critics aren’t convinced.
The Chinis are not happy with the quality of the "security" provided them. Many of their citizens have come under attack, and some have even been killed by Baloch "terrorists". Any Pajwa gave no indication to Xi that Imran was inviting Saudia to join CPEC , without consulting the senior partner ( China !)When Pakistan army chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, visited China recently, CPEC was mentioned time and again because its security in the face of multiple challenges has to be guaranteed by the security forces. He also had a meeting with President Xi Jinping, who said those opposing BRI and CPEC would never succeed as this is an initiative for peace and development not only for China and Pakistan but also the region and beyond.
Paki press reports have complained that the so -called "early harvest" of the completed projects has not happened ! And on top of that, cash outflows to Chini companies in hard currency - on account of loan repayments or for goods and services rendered on those projects - have completely wiped out the Paki TreasuryAs many as 22 projects were included in CPEC worth $57 billion, mostly in energy sector and infrastructure. A report said 13 projects have been completed while work on the remaining 13 was in progress. It was also claimed that the projects weren’t behind schedule.
The "experienced" journo should know that if wishes were horses beggars would ride !The most promising aspect of CPEC as a regional connectivity project would be if it is extended to Afghanistan and the Central Asian countries were to join it. China has been pushing Afghanistan and Pakistan to resolve their disputes and improve their relations and as a reward is willing to invest more in the region, particularly in Afghanistan once peace returns and also linking the two countries further through rail and road projects. If this happens, CPEC would be a real game-changer for the region.

Best way would be for us to buy the raw commodities (cotton, sugar, hides) from them at lower prices and do the value addition in India. NS being a wadhera/industrialist was super cooperative with us in that regard. Pakistan has been unable to get much cooperation from 11 countries known as tax havens around the world to share information on offshore wealth amid a global clampdown on tax evasion.
As per the agreed list, the tax haven countries which apparently did not show willingness to share information with Pakistan are Anguilla, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Hong Kong, Mauritius, Niue, Panama and Samoa.
The only tax haven countries which showed willingness to share information about Pakistani investments are Curacao, Cyprus, Ireland, Jersey, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Seychelles and Singapore.
Switzerland has so far not offered any exchange of automatic information to Pakistan on bank accounts under the OECD convention. Though Switzerland has offered the same to 60 countries including India under the multilateral tax convention.

WHEN considering investment in an infrastructure project, responsible investors or donors would ask: what is the need? What are the financial, social and environmental costs? What are the risks and the unknowns? Is the project likely to yield higher costs than benefits? Is the project the best option to address the need?
Pakistan’s judiciary and government have called upon Pakistanis to invest in the Diamer-Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund, and yet they have insufficiently addressed these questions. The Supreme Court’s online appeal is not accompanied by a feasibility study. From the outside looking in, this is a red flag.
The court explained the need in uploads to its website related to Petition 57 of 2016: a) Pakistan faces an issue of water scarcity, and b) it sees water reservoirs as essential to the survival of Pakistan’s people and economy. The Pakistan Council for Research in Water Resources corroborates the former claim. The argument for reservoirs rests on the premise that insufficient storage capacity causes water shortages. These assumptions merit scrutiny.
Is it necessary to target water storage capacity when water can be used more efficiently? Agriculture accounts for more than 95 per cent of Pakistan’s water consumption, and it is being used suboptimally.
For a start, distribution losses can be as high as two-thirds along unlined watercourses. These can be curbed with lining at a fraction of the cost. Secondly, Pakistan’s portfolio of crops needs to be rethought. The government should incentivise a shift away from water-intensive crops towards drought-resistant strains and species.
If optimising water use is insufficient on its own to solve Pakistan’s looming water crisis and additional storage is needed, would construction of the Diamer-Basha and Mohmand dams be the best way of addressing that need? What would be the shortfall if existing dams were desilted, maintained and rehabilitated? What would be the shortfall of capacity needed if instead of mega dams, smaller dams, with their smaller risks and costs, were built? Savvy impact investors would need these questions answered in a publicly available feasibility study.
Among the social costs of the Diamer-Basha dam foreseen by Wapda in 2011 in a document once made available online were the dislocation of over 30,000 people, the submersion of over 2,500 acres of agricultural land and the loss of many of the 33,000 prehistoric rock carvings that cannot be relocated. As a remedy to the social costs, nine model villages with amenities were envisioned for the displaced, and selected rock carvings would be moved to a museum in Chilas. Environmental costs were not mentioned.
For these, in the absence of a published feasibility study, we turn to Engineer Bashir Malik’s opinion published in The Nation in 2012. Described by King’s College geographer Daanish Mustafa as a former adviser to the World Bank and UN and “one of the most ardent supporters of dam-building in Pakistan”, Malik first distinguished Diamer-Basha from Tarbela and Kalabagh as “not a natural site for a storage dam”. He then proceeded to illustrate the seismic risks that the roller-compacted concrete Daimer-Basha dam would face as well as cause. The dam would be “vulnerable to cracks and leakage”.
A serious risk factor, Malik wrote, is reservoir-induced seismicity due to the immense weight of water stored behind the unprecedentedly high dam in the middle of an earthquake zone. The dam, in other words, could trigger tremors. “India’s Koyna dam induced [a] magnitude 6.4 earthquake killing 180 people in 1967 [...]”, while the Zipingpu mega dam may have been responsible for triggering a 7.9 magnitude earthquake in China in 2008, which killed 80,000 people.
Professor of Geological Sciences Shemin Ge of the University of Colorado Boulder and her co-authors have suggested the same. Greater than any other financial, economic or social cost is the chance that the Diamer-Basha dam, by virtue of being a mega dam in an earthquake zone, could cause loss of life on a catastrophic scale.
If the Diamer-Basha dam were the miracle that it would have to be to justify all the risks and costs, why would CPEC or development banks not finance it? Could it be that they read the feasibility studies?
Mega projects are inherently political, according to Andrew Edkins, UCL professor of the management of complex projects. Harvard international development professor Lant Pritchett predicts that policy advocates withhold information about a project’s effectiveness when they believe this information would deter support; they instead use emotive rhetoric to hoodwink prospective supporters.
One cannot doubt the sincerity of the new government or the judiciary. One does wonder, however, at the politics of the policy advocates. Pakistanis should demand answers to hard questions before they part with their money.

As Pakistan does not have much by way of indigenous/renewable power sources, most of their power is based on imported fuel, which apart for corruption and getting ripped off by chini tallel fliends under cpec, means that their electricity costs are inflated making their industry uncompetitive. Maybe I am not being clear here. We make strategic purchases which will weaken their economy, not strengthen it. If we buy cotton, they have less incentive to make yarn (and factories for yarn/fabric/garments). If we buy sugar or sugarcane, we can grow something of more value in areas in our country where water-hungry sugarcane is grown. India simply has to keep an eye on things, and sit tight with powder dry. Unless peacenik leaders like MMS or Vajpayee give away stuff to Pakistan, they can get diddly squat from us.
An exploitative trade relationship is based on 2 parts - dumping of manufactured goods, and purchase of raw commodities. While Pakis won't allow us to export to them, they will have little defence against us importing from them, and if we import the right commodities at the right price, we can actually do their economy some harm while pretending to the world that we are giving them a helping hand. Chanakian thinking is required here.

Desperate for funding to fend off a financial crisis fuelled in part by mounting debt to China, Pakistan is playing a complicated game of poker that could hand Saudi Arabia a strategic victory in its bitter feud with Iran at the People’s Republic’s expense.
The Pakistani moves threaten a key leg of the USD60 billion plus Chinese investment in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a crown jewel of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road initiative.
The Chinis were taken by surprise by this self initiative by the Pakis. And they were not amused, to say the least !They also could jeopardize Chinese hopes to create a second overland route to Iran, a key node in China’s transportation links to Europe. Finally, they grant Saudi Arabia a prominent place in the Chinese-funded port of Gwadar that would significantly weaken Iran’s ability to compete with its Indian-backed seaport of Chabahar.Taken together, the moves risk dragging not only Pakistan but also China into the all but open war between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Pakistan’s first move became evident in early September with the government’s failure to authorise disbursements for road projects, already hit by delays in Chinese approvals, that are part of CPEC’s Western route, linking the province of Balochistan with the troubled region of Xinjiang in north-western China.
The recent meeting of Pakistan Minister Of Religious Affairs ( the bearded Noor-ul-Haq Qadri ) with the Chinese Amb can be seen in this context !In doing so, Pakistan implicitly targeted a key Chinese driver for CPEC: the pacification of Xinjiang’s Turkic Muslim population through a combination of economic development enhanced by trade and economic activity flowing through CPEC as well as brutal repression and mass re-education.
The combination of Pakistani and Chinese delays “has virtually brought progress work on the Western route to a standstill,” a Western diplomat in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad said.
"Randibaaz Rashid" sending some sort of a message to the ChinisPakistani Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid, in a further bid to bring Pakistani government expenditure under control that at current rates could force the country to seek a $US 12 billion bailout from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has cut $2 billion dollars from the US$8.2 billion budget to upgrade and expand Pakistan’s railway network, a key pillar of CPEC. Mr. Rashid plans to slash a further two billion dollars.“Pakistan is a poor country that cannot afford (the) huge burden of the loans…. CPEC is like the backbone for Pakistan, but our eyes and ears are open,” Mr. Rashid said.

The U Turn FactorThe budget cuts came on the back of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party projecting CPEC prior to the July 25 election that swept him to power to as a modern-day equivalent of the British East India Company, which dominated the Indian subcontinent in the 19th century.
The Chinis shot this idea down !PTI criticism included denouncing Chinese-funded mass transit projects in three cities in Punjab as a squandering of funds that could have better been invested in social spending. PTI activists suggested that the projects had involved corrupt practices.Pakistan’s final move was to invite Saudi Arabia to build a refinery in Gwadar and invest in Balochistan mining. Chinese questioning of Pakistan’s move was evident when the Pakistani government backed off suggestions that Saudi Arabia would become part of CPEC.
Due to the "Ummah factor" and the desire to play so called "honest broker" the Pakis are downplaying the Irani reaction !Senior Saudi officials this week visited Islamabad and Gwadar to discuss the deal that would also involve deferred payments on Saudi oil supplies to Pakistan and create a strategic oil reserve close to Iran’s border."The incumbent government is bringing Saudi Arabia closer to Gwadar. In other words, the hardline Sunni-Wahhabi state would be closer than ever to the Iranian border. This is likely to infuriate Tehran," said Baloch politician and former Pakistani ports and shipping minister Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo.
Proves once again that the Pakis cannot be trusted to keep their word, violate confidentiality rules and what notPakistan’s game of poker amounts to a risky gamble that serves Pakistani and Saudi purposes, puts China whose prestige and treasure are on the line in a difficult spot, could perilously spark tension along the Pakistan-Iran border, and is likely to provoke Iranian counter moves. It also risks putting Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Iran, who depend on China economically in different ways, in an awkward position.
There are now doubts that this is going to happen !The Saudi engagement promises up to US$10 billion in investments as well as balance of payments relief. It potentially could ease US concerns that a possible IMF bailout would help Pakistan service debt to China.
A refinery and strategic oil reserve in Gwadar would serve Saudi Arabia’s goal of preventing Chabahar, the Indian-backed Iranian port, from emerging as a powerful Arabian Sea hub at a time that the United States is imposing sanctions designed to choke off Iranian oil exports.
A Saudi think tank, the International Institute for Iranian Studies, previously known as the Arabian Gulf Centre for Iranian Studies (AGCIS) that is believed to be backed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, argued last year in a study that Chabahar posed “a direct threat to the Arab Gulf states” that called for “immediate counter measures.”
Written by Mohammed Hassan Husseinbor, an Iranian political researcher of Baloch origin, the study warned that Chabahar would enable Iran to increase its oil market share in India at the expense of Saudi Arabia, raise foreign investment in the Islamic republic, increase government revenues, and allow Iran to project power in the Gulf and the Indian Ocean.
Mr. Husseinbor suggested that Saudi support for a low-level Baloch insurgency in Iran could serve as a countermeasure. “Saudis could persuade Pakistan to soften its opposition to any potential Saudi support for the Iranian Baluch... The Arab-Baluch alliance is deeply rooted in the history of the Gulf region and their opposition to Persian domination,” Mr. Husseinbor said. The Saudis are already "creating trouble" in Irani Balochistan , if Iranian press reports are to believed !
Noting the vast expanses of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Mr. Husseinbor went on to say that “it would be a formidable challenge, if not impossible, for the Iranian government to protect such long distances and secure Chabahar in the face of widespread Baluch opposition, particularly if this opposition is supported by Iran’s regional adversaries and world powers.”Saudi militants reported at the time the study was published that funds from the kingdom were flowing into anti-Shiite, anti-Iranian Sunni Muslim ultra-conservative madrassas or religious seminaries in Balochistan.
US President Donald J. Trump’s national security advisor, John Bolton, last year before assuming office, drafted at the request of Mr. Trump’s then strategic advisor, Steve Bannon, a plan that envisioned US support “for the democratic Iranian opposition,” including in Balochistan and Iran’s Sistan and Balochistan province.
For all its pretensions of neutrality, Pakiland is firmly on the Saudi Arabia side in the Sunni Shia civil war . Saudi relies on the Paki Bum. And the Pakis rely on the Saudi largesse !All of this does not bode well for CPEC. China may be able to accommodate Pakistan by improving commercial terms for CPEC-related projects and Pakistani debt as well as easing Pakistani access to the Chinese market. China, however, is likely to find it far more difficult to prevent the Saudi-Iranian rivalry from spinning out of control in its backyard.

The FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing registered a case against Sikandar for blackmailing his former class fellow by posting her immoral pictures on social media for some time.Acting on the girl’s complaint, the FIA snared the accused and recovered her objectionable pictures from his laptop.Meanwhile, the FIA acting on a tip-off recovered 19 boys from a gang of human traffickers involved in smuggling of boys to Europe via Turkey and arrested them.
A FIA team conducted a raid on a bus near Mianwali as the human traffickers were transporting the boys to smuggle them abroad.
These human traffickers had received Rs0.15 million each from the parents of the boys to send them to Turkey.Arrested six human traffickers were identified as Abbas Naveed, Muhammad Aslam, Saif, Qaiser, Muhammad Khan, Imtiaz Naveed and Shahbaz Ahmed.A case was registered against them.

Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Chairman Dr Qibla Ayaz said the council is looking to draft a divorce contract with additional provisions for women’s rights.“Triple talaq in one go is becoming a social problem now and the reason behind its occurrence has been changing with the passage of time. Previously in various cases, it used to be internal family conflict or clash of interests between the bride’s and groom’s family. Of late, however, the reason is social media and social openness of extramarital relationships which lead to mutual suspicion between couples resulting in instant divorce,” He said.
Am 400% sure that there are other Islamic Organizations of Pakiland , who vehemently oppose this so called liberalization in Islamic Laws . PAKISTANI immigrants to Europe tend to get a bad press. I was, therefore, pleasantly surprised by my brief encounter in Stockholm three weeks ago with a dozen or so well-settled, ordinary working-class Pakistanis. Some had migrated from Mirpur (AJK), others from KP and Sindh. Their attitudes and lifestyles challenge the common negative stereotypes of Pakistani migrants in Europe.
Do you speak and read Swedish reasonably well? Are local laws fair and non-discriminatory? Do your children go to Swedish schools and do they have Swedish friends? Can you feel this to be your own country? Receiving positive responses, I slowly moved on to the most sensitive of questions and held my breath: Would you be okay if your daughter were to date a Swedish guy? Marry him? And, finally, is Sweden where someday you might choose to die and be buried?
Not sure if Taqqiya is at play here or not !Except for the very last question (where some wavered) all other answers were again affirmative. Significantly, these were not well-heeled upper-class folks who readily form a globalised community. Instead, they were bus drivers, hospital staff, and other blue-collar workers in love with their adopted country. They were trying hard to deal with the us-versus-them binary.
As with other Pakistani immigrants in Europe, some stridently reject the core values of their host country and condemn the ‘immoral’ lifestyles of the majority.
This unctuous piety is sometimes dubious — it stands against a pioneering research study putting sexuality as a key motivation for young Pakistani men to emigrate. In his book: Masculinity, Sexuality, and Illegal Immigration – Human Smuggling from Pakistan to Europe, Ali Nobil Ahmad, a fellow at the Zentrum Moderner Orient in Berlin, finds the pull of deep-seated psychological forces no less important than the push of economic forces.
Marrying before they depart for "studies abroad" does not solve the problem either. Pakis Muslims take on girlfriends and fail to inform the "wife back home" on the affairs !After interviewing dozens of young immigrant men from lower-middle-class backgrounds, Ahmad concludes that lure of adventure and libidinal frustration drives even relatively economically secure migrants. Risking life and limb, they hope to escape a conservative society where every form of contact with women is forbidden — other than a family-arranged marriage — into a world where pleasures of the flesh are tauntingly visible through advertising and the global media. Parents often marry them off before they depart but the problem doesn’t end there.
he sweet fruits of the Promised Land are enjoyed for a while but long term adaptation to the metropolises of Europe is difficult for many. Most perplexing is the freedom enjoyed by Western women, with whom liaisons are short term. To shut out their ‘corrupting influence’, families arrange for cousin marriages or import brides. These are routine in Britain’s poorest areas where immigrants have ghettoised.
Most, whether wealthy or poor, will try their hardest to never return home and many will succeed in becoming first-generation immigrants. Some dream of wealth, others of personal fulfilment. Still others want to escape a suffocating social and physical environment. Most will be preoccupied in making a new life for themselves.
But giving the same rights to their own minorities is a different matter !But exceptions aside — such as the few I met in Stockholm — Pakistani immigrants to the West don’t insist on changing things back in the homeland. That Pakistan needs to end discrimination against its ethnic minorities, women, and non-Muslims is heard but rarely, and that too only from Baloch, Sindhi and Kashmiri nationalist groups. One could have expected broader participation because immigrants benefit from open pluralist societies that, by law, must treat all citizens equally. This, of course, is why Pakistanis choose to immigrate.

Dawood is one of the richest man of Pakistan !ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood has described his experience of “begging” from Saudi Arabia for a financial bailout package as “awful”, vowing to put in his best efforts to make the country stand on its feet.
The adviser on Friday shared his feelings in a meeting convened to set targets for the next 100 days in order to improve the country’s ranking on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Index.“I was upset when we were flying to Saudi Arabia to seek support,” said the adviser while recalling those moments.
“Is this what our life is that we have come to a low where we will beg from others,” Dawood said, adding that a talented nation of over 200 million people deserved far better than this. “It was awful to beg from Saudi Arabia,” he said. Many city Pakis do not have a high opinion of Saudia !
Prime Minister Imran Khan and his economic ministers had gone to Saudi Arabia to seek financial assistance to avoid an International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme. Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had said the purpose of the visit was to seek investment. Loans not investment !
However, things did not move as planned and no major breakthrough could be achieved during a follow-up visit of a Saudi delegation to Pakistan.Without disclosing the purpose, Dawood said during the last two days government ministers met and showed the resolve to overcome the economic challenges.
Now he has no choice but to "eat his words"Since the expiry of the last IMF programme, Pakistan’s economic condition has been deteriorating and China has so far saved the country from default on its international debt obligations.Saudi Arabia had also provided $1.5 billion in cash grant in 2014 to help the then Pakistan government shore up foreign exchange reserves.Before coming to power, Prime Minister Khan had vowed that he would not beg from other nations to run the affairs of the country.
The adviser voiced hope that Pakistan would be able to improve its ranking in the upcoming Ease of Doing Business Report 2019. He said he had initially been told by the Board of Investment (BOI) that Pakistan would improve its current 147th ranking by at least 20 points.
Pakistan introduced 70 reforms but the World Bank accepted only three, said the newly appointed BOI Chairman Haroon Sharif.He said the World Bank’s review team did not accept many reforms due to negative response by survey respondents and some of the reforms were on the border line.Sharif underlined that the ease of doing business was on top of the prime minister’s reform agenda.
Why not plan to reduce defence expenditure insteadSharif said in Sprint-III, the BOI and various government departments had planned to implement 45 reforms in different business indicators. The private sector will be consulted at all levels from planning to implementation of these reforms. The BOI will also ensure that the private sector is its partner in this journey.

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf believes that the board’s chances of success in compensation case against Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are slim.“PCB is unlikely to succeed against BCCI because they don’t have a strong case,” he said while speaking during an event in Lahore. “The MoU included a conditional clause about permission from the Indian government for the series to go ahead.”
Ashraf also criticised former PCB Chairman Najam Sethi on basis of his poor decision making during his tenure. He also called for investigation against Sethi for causing financial loses to the board.“Sethi cost PCB millions due to his wrong policies which is why it is important to carry out a proper investigation against him,” he said. “The huge amount of expenses incurred for this compensation case is a glaring example in this regard.”

There are other "little Imrans" in India also, per Reham's Book !It said for the purpose of general elections of 2002, 2013 and 2018, Khan in all the nomination papers only declared Suleman Khan and Kasim Khan in the list of his children and concealed existence of his ‘love child’.
It said Khan could not be allowed to hold a public office under article 62(1)(d), (e) &(f) and article 63(1)(f), (p) & (o) of the Constitution, and requested the court to direct the ECP to de-notify him as MNA from the said constituency and declare the seat vacant.
One call from someone in the Deep State and this case will be " forgotten"“[The tribunal should also issue] directions for initiating appropriate proceedings against Khan for committing corrupt practice by submitting false information/ declaration in his nomination papers,” it added.

ISLAMABAD – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) Sunday has announced a huge investment package for Pakistan.
Word of mouth announcement taken asAs per the media report, ADB announced a $7.1-billion financial package for Pakistan, saying it would help the country “achieve inclusive and sustainable growth” over the next three years.“ADB plans to significantly increase the country’s sovereign operations to $7.1bn over three years,” Wencai Zhang, vice president of the Manila-based lender, said in a statement.
A sigh of relief in the corridors of Isloo power, including at GHQ and AabpaaraZhang said the financial package was planned under a country partnership strategy for 2018-2020. He also appreciated the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s 100 Days Agenda.

So, it is not millions of eggs, but millions of rupeesAccording to details, rotten eggs worth millions of rupees were disposed of by the provincial food watchdog under the supervision of PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman at Solid Waste Dumping Site, Lakhodair.
On the occasion, Captain (R) Muhammad Usman said that rotten eggs were brought at the dumping site after seizing from Burewala and Chichawatni during different raids.
Nothing goes to waste. If the eggs are too rotten to be eaten by the Aam Abduls, why not sell the same at a bargain price to biscuit manufacturers , who will use it as an ingredient in the production process . And the biscuits will not smell eitherHe said that putrid eggs were collected from various hatcheries and cold stores on cheap rates and to be supplied to different biscuit manufacturers and bakeries for manufacturing bakery items after getting powder from those eggs.
Retired Fauji Captain at the helm !In a separate raid, the authority conducted a special raid and caught 20,000 litres tainted milk in Pakpattan the other day. The sting operation was led by PFA DG Muhammad Usman.
Captain (R) Muhammad Usman informed that the raid was conducted against the factory of fake milk on the tip-off of PFA’s vigilance cell after one-week sting operations.
He said that milk was being produced by adding the contamination of powder, cooking oil, chemicals, surf and other adulterated material. He said that chemically contained milk is injurious to health especially for children.He added that PFA will make Punjab’s land narrow for adulteration mafia and those food business operators who are producing substandard and harmful food.
