Look like horizontal tail to me

Only thing that gives me pause is that the neverending quest for more efficiency and fuel economy means that despite being larger than the 777-300ER the GE9X engines of the 777X produce less power than the monstrous GE90-115B fitted on the 300ER. It has a jaw-dropping max rating of 514kN. The new ones are at 470kN I believe.Austin wrote:this thing can cover the globe in Business Jet Configuration

The reduction in thrust is because of lesser empty weight of the plane. Compared to the mainly a metal body of 777 the 777x is more than 50% composite. Plus better aero design, with better and larger span wings. All contribute to lower requirement of thrust.

We can't keep calm because we are EXCITED to share that IndiGo has entered into a 20-year agreement to sub-lease land at the BLR Airport. This is to build a state-of-the-art Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facility and is expected to be operational by March 2020.

His dil mange MRO ?
Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
I have given tyaag to this maya moh.
my vision is yelehanka AFB just 10km nearer to blr, now a transport command training base (mi17 and an32) become our anderson AFB guam for a swing role maritime cum land strike large bomber regiments. they can dig bunkers under the hard rocky stone quarries in the region for impregnable storage of conventional and n-munitions also. not even a n-device is going to shift nandi hills 1 inch up or down.
its time to think swing role because BLR is ideally located to pivot in any direction using the same assets.

Its astonishing that a company with a monopoly on a country of 1.35 billion and a growing economy can _STILL_ be losing money.Austin wrote:Reason even today IA is in debt ...the freebie culture

It takes a special kind of skill to do that.
Is it really a case of incompetent management with Air India or something else.

What monopoly? AI barely has a 12% market share. If any airline can be said to have a monopoly now it is IndiGo.Neshant wrote: Its astonishing that a company with a monopoly on a country of 1.35 billion and a growing economy can _STILL_ be losing money.

AI is run like a government job lot and a way to get free flights for babus and politicians. It will always lose money.

Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
NCR will need more than 2 big airports. It is expected to touch 100 million pop in the near future due to massive urbanization. Imagine a country with 2 airports and 100 million pop.
Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
To add NCR will need 1 airport along the rohtak-Sonepat quadrant, another along the Meerut quadrant which are witnessing rapid urbanization.
Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
the jewar airport should be able to serve ghaziabad-meerut belt apart from noida-faridabad once the necessary metro and expway links are in place.
CM has also approved a 600km long expway from meerut to prayagraj
yamuna expway is in place to agra and jewar airport should be somewhere near it.

Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
Yes Jewar comes near the expressway. It is a few kms ahead of the Buddha International racing track. About 20 mins drive once you slip onto the expressway ahead of Greater Noida.Singha wrote:the jewar airport should be able to serve ghaziabad-meerut belt apart from noida-faridabad once the necessary metro and expway links are in place.

Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
Jewar is actually south east quadrant and will serve Noida-GN-YEIDA-Faridabad-Dadri belt. You will need another airport along north-east quadrant to serve the Gaziabad-Meerut belt. Meerut to Jewar is 120 kms. Gaziabad to Jewar is 75 kms.
Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
75-120km thats hardly anything once a eastern arc expway is build connecting the meerut expway to yamuna expway.
we need to settle on 2 mega airports to stabilize things than spread it thin.

Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
It is not going to be thin. Distance is just one issue. It is a pain to go to Del airport even from NW and NE Delhi even with excellent roads. Pop is the biggest issue. It is already 40-50 million. Will go upto 100 million. I have been to the area. Immense urbanization. Relatively prosperous i.e. flying public. Haven't seen that anywhere in India. 2 airports won't be able to handle it in the long term. It is OK upto 2030. There is already a proposal to built an airport near Bhiwadi at the HY-RJ border but I believe it has been dropped for now due to close proximity to Del and Jaipur airports. They will need to built more airports after 2030.
Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
In fact they are planning a cargo airport near Bhiwadi.

Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
i hope the rail dense areas like UP-Bihar get a grid of train18s too.
Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
They can develop the Meerut airstrip area to international airport. That would take care of that quadrant specially now with the Del-Meerut expressway being done. There was a proposal to do it but I think the govt is more focused on Jewar.
Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
Saar, as you posted in railway thread, today's stone pelting on Train18.Singha wrote:i hope the rail dense areas like UP-Bihar get a grid of train18s too.
Those kind of incidents makes me doubt, Train18 having expensive & fancy interior can handle UP-BIHAR route torture.
We need more education and change in mindset for proper care of such national assets.
Not long ago we have seen mishandling of Tejas exp. by our fellow country men.
Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
Hindon air base has a (temporary) civil terminal coming up, and could work in the future as a third option for low-cost regional airlines.
Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
^^ Please no. Let the mil facilities be - with our meagre defence budget, any expansion cannot afford fresh land acquisition. By keeping Hindon as is, cost of land is one less worry for the MoD. Plus a civil enclave in a mil airport ends up pleasing no one - neither can the AF do their work in peace, nor can the civil enclave expand beyond a point (and in a place like Delhi, it will need expansion a few years down the line).
Better to bite the bullet and build a greenfield mega airport.
Existing IGI for the W/SW/S side. Jewar for S/SE/E and NE side. What about something near the Rohat-Sonepat axis? With good roads, Meerut is reachable quickly, and the EPE is nearby. WPE is also accessible as Kundli is not too far. As far as Delhi itself is concerned, all of Rohini, plus Pitampura, Shalimar Bagh and Model Town can form the landside passenger feeder areas.
Once these three IGI sized airports are done, smaller ones further out could be developed - Karnal, Hisar, Mathura (Agra is already there), Aligarh, Moradabad, etc. With RRTS, hopefully a good network of suburbs could be developed thereby decongesting Delhi and making these airports viable in their own right.

Plus at CSIA , runway closure for maintenance has become a regular event.
I was booking BOM-BLR flight forearly Feb 12 and strangely, there were no 12:00 - 17:00 flights. Thats your hint and you can notice it esp when find a large window with no flights.
I Looked it up and found out it was closed for recarpetting at X-section of 2 runways
Edited date.

Looks like Boeing hid the MCAS feature on MAX from pilot manual so as to prevent expensive re-training for MAX pilot but then still squarely blames the pilot for the crash as they did not follow the emergency check list for nose dive !
Read it in full its long but informative

Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
indonesian govt + lion air need to file a lawsuit in hague . they cannot expect true justice from US courts which is in pocket of boeing, even if a few US citizens were in that flight.
lion air can also cancel its big deal and tar n feather 737 max.
remember - the pilot was our citizen and he died due to boeing saving a few bucks. their fat cat leaders would not have cut back on offsites to vegas and smoking large cigars.

Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion
Yeah Boeing is too big in this game , Most certainly the big engine and moving it forward would have changed the CG resulting in some kind of pitch up movement and MCAS to the rescue in some condition , also they linked MCAS to single AOA sensor when two was available to keep it simple but did not count for fault active sensor screwing it.
All in All this looks like a design issue and then MCAS exist was not communicated to pilot which compounded the problem , THe pilot did what he knew as he was tying to save the nose going down all the time and was too busy to read the emergency manual , He was fighting MCAS and the aircraft and something he was not aware that existed.
Bottom line in order to sale the MAX design as the same old 737 NG so no need to re-train to save cost and time for the airline , Wary of A320 NEO success they used probably every thing available for the FAA to toe their line and even European regulator who was initially reluctant on to toe FAA line , only Brazialian regulator added MCAS to pilot training/manual
Lion Air is too weak to fight the battle , Boeing will simply point to its past misdeeds ...... Pilot will be blamed for not opening the emergency manual no matter what caused the nose pitch down , MCAS will now be part of MAX re-training and probably tweaking in SW codes of MCAS ...may be they will simulate how MCAS behave with faulty sensor and try to bring out some communication notes to airlines. FAA/EU will put its stamp of approval !

brazil is known to have a tough relation with usa for a while now ever since president Lula days. they are one of few countries that need US citizens to get a visa to visit, in 1:1 reciprocity for brazilians needing a visa (argentina and chile are in the visa not needed countries for visit to usa).
hence I would expect them to stick to the book and not scratch murican back.

atlanta airport on avg day handles 275000 pax and 3000 flights.
looks fairly pathetic on the terminal side atleast from outside. just a bunch of industrial sheds and lots of runways...looks more like a military logistical node than a showpiece destination airport like asian top airports
may its charms are underground and well hidden.
