Ticket prices given above. The ones which are 1800 are those which can get you in close to static display. I have never seen schedule of airshow before, as in flight program. But there are two slots of 2hr each per day (9-11 and 2-4 or something like that). Same repeated show always but there might be minor changes for ex some aircraft may be missing from one show. You know its unpredictable. But you can see the inauguration air display on youtube and get the idea. I suggest don't go on Sunday as they will start winding up. Some aircrafts might even leave. Saturday is better choice.

All’s not well on the road to Aero India 2019, India’s flagship aviation show. With a month to go for the event in Bengaluru, aircraft manufacturers who’ve firmed up plans to bring aircraft for the static of flight display were stumped by the Indian government this past week. The last minute surprise is a new customs requirement that all exhibitors at the show had been exempted from in at least the last four editions of the show.

In other words, the vendors now need to deposit more money than they have been provided an exemption from, effectively negating the purpose of the exemption in the first place. Needless to say, such cash guarantees or bonds would run into many millions of dollars or euros.

The purpose of a customs exemption for defence exhibitions is obvious. A norm at air and defence exhibitions the world over, such exemptions are routine to ease passage, cut red tape and simply attract more exhibitors.

Coming up with last minute financial bonds or bank guarantees running into millions is not an easy ask, and would in many cases have served to dissuade exhibitors from appearing, especially since this year’s Aero India clashes with the Abu Dhabi defence show, already a source of some heartburn among exhibitors. 2019’s Aero India has had a shaky birthing. From firm plans of a venue switch to a last minute revert to original plans, exhibitors have been on tenterhooks for months.

Our students were selected in the first round for Students Pavilion. For second round results were supposed to be declared on 26th. Nearly a week since and no one has a clue. Tried contacting the IITM prof in charge of this and all he knows is that MHRD will send the results.. some time.. HA.

Earlier there used to be a ticket which would allow visitors entry in to the base to watch flying display & static display up close but not entry in to the exhibition halls. That ticket was priced mid-way between business & ADVA one...I guess they have now removed that ticket slot.

May end up just going to ADVA if I get desperate

No real aircrafts from Roos...probably scale models in the exhibition stalls.

So far these are the Indian private companies which have booked space for either flying or static displays:

1. ZEPHYR AEROSPACE PVT LTD - FLYING DISPLAY
2. GENSER AEROSPACE & IT PVT LTD - STATIC DISPLAY
3. LAKSHYA FLYING SYSTEMS PRIVATE LIMITED - STATIC DISPLAY

Probably no F/A-18 item from Boeing apart from scale models in the stalls.

Anyways, I could not find any details on Zephyr Aerospace. Could be a drone company? Didn't think drones will be allowed to fly during AI.

Genser is probably displaying mock up of their Bizjet.

Lakshya per their website is displaying their fixed-wing multirole Nano-light aircraft.

So going by the above, we can guess the aircrafts that will be flying: Tejas, Saras-NG, Su-30, Rudra, LCH, LUH, SKAT, C-17 (may be), Rafale, F-16, possibly HTT-40.

Also just saw that AI has returned to the previous Wed-Sun days show format.

Also, any BLR AI meet up planned for this time? I know doc is no longer part of this forum and hence difficult to co-ordinate.

This time AI will be a totally 'French Connection' affair onlee. French companies are running around looking for offset partners like 'Dogs in the month of Virgo'. Some of the kool stuff my KB builds will feature in the stall of the customer.

On the other hand, our own show will be kind of lacklusture compared to last time, primarily because the MK2 and Aam-Ka clarity didn't happen.

I thought they only had the ADVA last time as well. AFAICT, there was no checking between the air show area (which was different from the ADVA) and the exhibition halls.

Regarding the increase in cost, I am just happy that the show was retained in BLR

It depends on who all express interest. Coordinating in the last minute is even more difficult, given the weekday traffic, etc. IIRC, even last time a few people had dropped out due to time constraints. So let's agree on the date first, so people can respond at least on that basis. The location will have to be decided only after that (via email/forum PM).

How about meeting Friday evening (Feb 22)?

Today was AeroIndia seminar - is there any online link for archived videos? I forgot about it completely.
Some very interesting videos on Indian radars etc which we missed.
Delhi Def Review has some details.

AEW&C can detect targets as far away as 475km in extended mode.
Wide range of AESA modules developed.
Complete arrays by DARE displayed.

Yes, if we want to bomb Beijing or Shenyang (J-11/15/16 builder) in northern Cheen.

This is the PGK fuze that US has developed and ARDE is working on it.
China also has their version of Course Corrected Fuze. (CCF)

IA needs it urgently for shells for 155mm guns and 120 mm mortars.

The 12th edition of Aero India 2019, the International Aerospace and Defence Exhibition will be held during 20-24 Feb 2019 at Yelahanka, Bengaluru. The mega event organized biennially has already carved a niche for itself globally as a premier aerospace exhibition in the world.

Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) is participating in this mega exposition in a big way and will be showcasing around 250 systems, technologies, working models and innovations in all formats i.e. indoor, outdoor and live display. More than twenty four laboratories under different technology clusters of DRDO connected to the aerospace & aeronautics are displaying their products and showcasing their achievements. The participating clusters are - Aeronautical Systems, Missiles, Armaments & Combat Engineering, Electronics & Communication Systems, Micro electronics Devices & Computational Systems, Naval Systems & Materials and Life sciences.

In the Indoor Pavilion scaled models of LCA-Tejas variants viz., Airforce Mark-1, Medium Weight Fighter, Naval Variants and also Trainer variants are displayed. In addition scaled model of twin engine stealth aircraft namely AMCA (Advance Medium Combat Aircraft) is being displayed with audio-visual effect. DRDO is also showcasing proven expertise in the field of Fighter aircraft Simulators design & development as well 360 degree immersive virtual experience kiosks and both these facilities will offer an insightful experience. In addition DRDO is also displaying demonstrative Virtual Design, Assembly and servicing of LCA Tejas aircraft virtual reality experience centre which will offer near real life experience to the visitors.

The outdoor display includes the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, Limited Series Production version aircraft and Rustom-2 of 1:1 size. In addition, DRDO is also showcasing models of its proven products as well as futuristic Advanced Fighter aircraft with Stealth features at the Prestigious India Pavilion. Models of missiles developed by DRDO including Astra, QRSAM, MRSAM, Brahmos, will be showcased to emphasize the advances made in missile systems. Besides the Model of the upcoming MWF (Medium Weight Fighter) is being unveiled for the first time.

The highlight of DRDO’s participation at aero show is the aerial display of LCA Tejas by the 45th Squadron and flight display Airborne Early Warning & Control System (AEW&C).

Interactions with scientists, technologists and test pilots have also been planned by DRDO for the benefit of students and young entrepreneurs taking part in the show. A special event has also been organized on 23 Feb 2019 to showcase the achievements made by the DRDO Women Scientists in the Aerospace sector.

As a prelude to Aero India 2019, DRDO in association with the Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI) is organizing the 12th Aero India International Seminar during 18-19 Feb 2019 at Bengaluru. This year the theme of the seminar is “Emerging Frontiers in Aerospace Technologies”. The Seminar is of global importance and provides best exposure to all participating professionals by bringing together the best in the field from all over the world. More than 1000 delegates from R&D, Academia & industries are participating in the seminar including students. About 39 speakers of eminence from both India and abroad are giving talks leading to emergence of innovative ideas and scope for collaborative projects. These include speakers from Canada, France, Germany, Russia, UK and USA etc.

DRDO’s participation in Aero India - 2019 will definitely provide a platform for collaboration and evolve new opportunities to boost export of indigenous defence products.
