From what I gather from twitter - in 2014 on incident happened where someone drove their Maruti car through one barricade during one such convoy movement when roads were blocked, without stopping. Army men fired on the vehicle. Some casualties resulted. The soldiers were punished by army holding them guilty (to me looks like done under political pressure, at least I dont see why they should have been punished). Then the restriction on civil vehicle movement was removed.ramana wrote:
OK if 80 kg RDX was sued the damage would have been even worse.
80 kg is about 180 lbs. Most dumb bombs are filled at 0.4-0.5 % explosive. This was equivalent of a 450 lb bomb.
And they must have used up quite a lot of RDX stock in Kashmir to execute this attack.
Very sorry that at the loss of life of the 40 policemen.
The CRPF has done everything in its power to prevent this.
The allowing civilian traffic during police convoy movement was a fatal gap in procedures.
Would like to know when and how this was introduced.
Twitter says its Mehbooba Mufti who forced this on the CRPF.
The SOP for convoy movement should be reverted back to the older one with immediate effect for all Forces.
