The question which clarified that returning the commander was nothing outside their Geneva convention obligations, was the most important question that punctured that whole peacenick propaganda campaign.

That question was probably planted by an MOD Babu.

It’s all the other idiots who were obsess with unnecessary technical detail details who should have unspeakable things done to them.

PS: Not doubting IAF. Just asking out of curiosity.
They also mention ASRAAM, they don't have it. JF-17 has Chinese radar, it can "not" work with AMRAAM unless they plan to use it in CCM mode. AIM-120 is semi-active, and require guidance to engage at effective range. Without compatible radar, and data link it cannot work.

They are indicative of PL-9, and SD-10.

Unless the prc cloned the aim120 thanks to the PAF. Some tough questions for the US.

Shooting of PAF F-16 Block 50/52 with AMRAAM C-5 class missile by Bison Winco would be reverberated for a long time to come.

The F-16 blk 50/52 with all the latest bells and whistles represents the Tip of Spear of PAF and to be shot by a Bison of IAF which is the lowest end of the IAF fighter interceptor shows great pilot skills.

The present ACM in the video on ACM mentions that Mig-21 is as good as the pilot is , Pilot skills is put to test and it can be unforgiving for a rookie ..... Kudos to our Boy for this Achievement .....Shows the Combat Skills of our Pilot

Would suggest watching this two part on Bison done by NDTV more than 10 years back , The 2nd part has a brief interview by present Chief of IAF on the Mig-21 and he mentions many things about the aircraft

I presume that NaMo called Le Grande Phrog and got permission b4 sending Mirage2000s?
All just tamasha. I think every Indian post and article should mention AMERICAN-SUPPLIED, TERRORIST-OPERATED F-16, AMRAAM, etc.

Mig-21 BISON

In 1961, the Indian Air Force (IAF) opted to purchase the MiG-21 over several other Western competitors because the Soviet Union offered India full transfer of technology and rights for local assembly. In 1964, the MiG-21 became the first supersonic fighter jet to enter service with the IAF. Due to limited induction numbers and lack of pilot training, the IAF MiG-21 played a limited role in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965. However, the IAF gained valuable experience while operating the MiG-21 for defensive sorties during the war.The positive feedback from IAF pilots during the 1965 war prompted India to place more orders for the fighter jet and also invest heavily in building the MiG-21's maintenance infrastructure and pilot training programs. By 1969, India had acquired more than 120 MiG-21s from the Soviet Union.

Improvents on the baseline Mig-21 to make the bison :

multifunctional coherent Doppler-pulse airborne radar "Kopyo" with slot antenna
onboard digital computer
helmet-mounted target designato
double screen (HUD and CRT) display system
stores management system
inertial navigation system
air data computer system, digital
short range radio navigation system
onboard radio command receiving equipmen
new flare dispenser (26 mm 120 rounds)
new electric power supply system, controlling and recording system
Sextant's TOTEM RLG-INS with NSS-100P GPS embedded GPS receivers
El-Op HUD, infrared search and track system (IRST) from Russia's URALs optical-mechanical plant
two Sextant MFD-55 LCD displays
autopilot
radar warning receivers (RWR)
new liquid air cooling system
HOTAS controls

It has a mix of French, Israeli, Indian and Russian aveonics equipment.(like the MKI). It is claimed that the fighters are equivalent to any 4th Generation fighter, with the ability to lock on to 8 different targets at once.

It's weaponry includes the not so commonly seen seeker module of the KAB-500Kr TV guided bomb, R-73and an R-77 BVRAAM carried underwing. The aircraft's sophisticated EW suite comprises of a DRDO Tarang RWR/RHAWS, "Tempest" internal Self-protection jammer (SPJ) and the conformal CMDS.

Other features include a SURA HMS, a semi-glass cockpit and a Sextant Totem-3000 Ring laser gyro nav. system with GPS, to mention a few. Note the conformal countermeasure dispensers, the new Tarang RWR's antennae on the tailfin and the single piece windshield.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is now adding stealth modifications to an existing $340m programme to upgrade 125 of its MiG-21bis fighters to MiG-21-93 standard. Sources for Jane's Defence Weekly have revealed these secret events in a report published in today's edition of the magazine.Extensive tests to demonstrate Russia's ability to upgrade Indian fighter aircraft with stealth capabilities took place in front of Indian defence ministry officials at the Sokol aircraft plant in Nizhniy Novgorod on 29th May 2000. The demonstration was highly successful and is understood to have resulted in the Russian government and RSK MIG urging the IAF to adopt the stealth modifications across its MiG-21-93 fleet. The core of the demonstration saw two MiG-21bis--one upgraded with stealth technology and one without--being tracked by what is believed to be a Mig-31 in a controlled test of radar-absorbent materials (RAM) and coatings developed at the Moscow Institute of Applied and Theoretical Electrodynamics.During its flight the radar signature of the upgraded Mig-21bis was shown to be between 10 and 15 times weaker than the regular MiG-21bis

I think we had quite a bit of idea of that by training with singaporeans israelis and other countries. What this has exposed is paki tactics of using F16 quite clearly

Sir, I was thinking along the same lines. I too would have replied in the same way as you said it. But I am not going to complain how we replied. Pakis are a weird species. Who knows how they might have reacted to that kind of answer. Anyways, I have utmost trust in our yodhas, and I am good with any reply they make. Especially knowing how professional they are.

It will be in place till midnight tonight. Airspace may open since March 1. This is a unilateral paki decision so they can lift flight embargo as and when they see fit.

But yes risk of enemy aircrafts coming in along with civilian airliners also goes up.

^^ israel has been doing that over lebanon and the eastern med - syrian AAD cannot engage because they are hiding with civilian airliners.
in one instance they flew behind a russian AN22 which was coming in to land and syrian SAM hit it.

knowing the "we are like israeli" only claims of PAF, dont be surprised if they use it.

"Postponing the response after Wing Commanders return does not make sense - what if more pow are taken in retaliatory action- can't expect another time-out. Or what if tomorrow the pakis say 'oh sorry, the car bringing him to Wagah broke down, comeback next week onlee"

Agreed. If this was the case atleast the press meet should have been postponed to keep the pot boiling.
As it stands now we appear to loose the opportunity as the saga ended by diplomacy being played by both sides.

Not really if we count OUT this last bizzness of 1:1 draw.

We are left with Phulwama followed by Balakot. India was never on the path to knock out bakis else balakot wouldn't have the first target. If the bakis had kept still we would have stopped then.

However, the door has still been kept open PLUS the door for future *preemptive* action has been kicked WIDE open.

the "beaten by locals" has no real source where it appeared from. its impossible to backtrace much in twitter and pakis have a weaponized back end platform to instantly flood any twitter reply thread with dozens of replies ... i doubt they are all separate humans, maybe lots of fake accounts fed into by human operators in kafka/rabbitMQ type bespoke spamming fakenews system. they might have purchased it from somewhere like cambridge analytica.

yeah here was our pilot, on the run from group of armed villagers and he would take time off to fatally shoot a wounded f16 pilot.

I can believe that.

this anand raj singh must be a ISI plant, trying to get our man killed. GOI needs to trace out these local twitter kamandus and jail them for misinfo and BIF plants.
