Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
Wanted to understand, if we deploy our SAMs near LOC locations.. as per reports 16 enemy fighters violated our Air Space.
IAF came to rescue but just wanted to understand if why we didn't engaged them with SAMs.
They could have caused bigger damage to PAF fighters.

Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
because civilian flights were in the airspace.
if we fired over the LOC before they intruded that would be war.
if we fired at them behind the LOC, thats were civilian planes were in the air.
same reason BVR aams were not in ROE until airspace closed after the encounter. the mig21 can carry a pair of r77 also but may have been loaded with r73 only keeping the QRT mission with civilian traffic still moving.

@flightradar a gulfstream GLF4 winging it's way to Lahore from Islamabad.
Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
Based on what I have read over the past few days SAMs my not be turned on on regular days because of risk to civilian air traffic.
Radars were on and fighters were on CAP mission as well as on stand by for eventualities. To bring SAMs online would mean shutting down the airspace in the vicinity. Trade off based on the risk perception.
Bakis SAMs are on full alert hence the airspace is virtually empty of civilian air traffic.

hamza 1 is some drone flying at 25 knots.
the gulfstream is rapidly reducing altitude and prelaring to descend at lahore. These are our boys in there I think.

Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
For those who are having doubts on the accuracy of Balakot strikes, here is the thing. As per reports 12 Mirage 2000s were definitely in the strike package. Now they were all carrying multiple Precision guided weapons including Spice 2000. Is it really possible that all of these munitions missed their mark? Lets wait and when the time comes the evidence will be presented. That includes Battle damage assessment done by possible ground assets.
Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
what happened to the heli that went down? there were concerns of stingers etc. is that confirmed as tech fault or?
Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
Imdim is heading for a lamp post. His job is still to be done before he is marched to lamp post. Also somebody needs to be groomed to take his place at the chair. It could be Fazal-ur-Rehman (mullah sandwich?) or the molester sheikh rasheed. My personal fav. is lal topi zaheel hamid for Baki PM.Rakesh wrote:

UNSC vote on declaring Hafeez/Masood as global terrorist is crucial. US/UK/France are totally onboard. Russia as well. Only hold out is China and that too on technicality.
Now China needs to decide if it wants to deal with a moth-eaten debt ridden jihadi economy or an economy which is going to be $10T in 10-15 years? Anyway Bakistan is in orbit of Saudi Barbaria and Saudi Barbaria is deferrent to India (see at OIC, Sushma'ji is the honorable guest over protests from Bakistan)
1. Bakistan's was under effective no-fly zone for 3 days. The very fact that India may attack have them scurrying around.
2. UNSC vote on global terrorist list. China cannot afford to remain isolated.Bakistan's civil aviation authority says the country's air space remains closed for all domestic and international flights because of continuing tensions with neighboring India.
In a statement, the agency said the government decision about the closure of the air space will remain effective until 1 p.m. on Friday, after which authorities will announce whether they are reopening it or keeping the airspace closed.
Islamabad closed its air space on Wednesday
https://www.financialexpress.com/opinio ... r/1501907/
If UNSC votes come, it makes it easier for GOI. If it does not come, it is a little more difficult.And, if the operation itself was executed so well, the diplomatic offensive prior to the strike, and after it, has been equally impressive. While China, which has traditionally backed Pakistan on JeM chief Masood Azhar, was forced to sign off on a UN Security Council (UNSC) statement condemning the attack, and the US/UK/France have made yet another attempt to get the UNSC to label Azhar a ‘global terrorist’; while China may, once again, scuttle the move, it says a lot that the pressure is being maintained by the global community;
Let's take the positive path, China votes on UN Global Terrorist list with some dilution. Who will enforce the list? India of course!
If the UNSC list does not come through, India will pummel some more terrorist head quarters and keep the pressure on Bakistan. Anyway their economy is going down the drain. It will take only 7-10 more days before it starts to crumble.
3. Balochistan/Sindh. This is on a slow boil. Most likely it will be on a slow boil. There is a reason.
4. Saudi Barbaria is now the owner of Bakistan. It infact declared as much that ME now extends to Bakistan.
MBS is trying to undo the jehad project. Saudi Barbaria under MBS as much realizes that the Jehad project has gone out of its control and it will come back and haunt them. Like Bhasmasura. Further it has to deal with Iran. And it needs allies. Particularly when oil is going to be out of picture some 2-3 decades from now.
It needs to extend its influence into CA and for that it needs to open up Bakistan to access CA and bring energy back and supply it to India. And make money of its investments in supplying gas and investing in growing Indian economy. Unraveling Bakistan slowly is a small price.
And BTW it appears that it got nukes from Bakistan for the investment Saudi Barbaria made.
US does not care about former-UK's great game and Russia project. That is in the past. US cares about its own economy now and realizes that its $7Trillion investment in fighting unnecessary wars (crimea, syria, libya ... ) has actually made it weaker. It has turned inward and trying to rebuild itself.
Russian GDP is $1.5T and is actually less than India's and Indian GDP will be $5T by 2025.
Bakistan is a problem that can be best handled by India and India is hammering home that advantage now.

Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
All said and done, use of SPICE (more than one anyway) does not make sense for the Balakot target. So one has to wonder WHY the quick mention of SPICE.
SPICE DOES make sense for every one of the targets within say 30 km of the LOC, hain? Also for targets inside Muzzafarabad etc. if launched by planes inside POK that cannot hang around. In one shot India has declared the capability and the intention to hit wherever and whenever with this devastating standoff weapon at anything in that range. IOW, a No Terrorists' Land declared for 30 km on Pak side of LOC.
Another point: Pulwana attack used 350kg of RDX packed in a truck by terrorists. SPICE uses 1000kg of military high explosive packed by the best pros in the business. Think about that: 6 used already on various targets (along with Balakote). And the pest-e-sha'eed score is proportionate and more, to that.
Now for Balochistan/Balwaristan/Pakhtoonistan Watch...

I had't thought of that - flights operating normal in desh? Basically only TSP is no phly jone?
Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
imo the jihad factories will grow more SME / agile / distributed now and hug civilian areas close.
so 1000kg weapons dropping in may can really bad collateral damage and slaughter both the innocent and guilty.
I see a need for a chinna-garuthma - 100kg warhead glider with the same 100km range when released from high alt high speed and 50k from lower level. for really point targets use a 25kg warhead - enough to destroy a villa but leave surrounding ones intact....kind of like a Hellfire missile with long wings.
this will be our SDB. the SAAW avionics and architecture can be used as a template with suitable sensor and warheads.
I am sure teams are already on this. we need a domestic + fully comprehensive set of air delivered weapons to use as our lego set from now on.

This is the SPICEy message:
Speaking at an award ceremony for scientists, he said, "You spend your life in laboratories. You have a tradition of first doing a pilot project. It is later scaled up. So recently a pilot project happened", as the audience burst into applause.
Modi continued, "Now the real one has to be done. Earlier one was a practice.

Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
Apart from what other posters have replied, we have a limited number of advanced SAM batteries. The IAF's Akash batteries do not even cover all IAF bases, so one can't deploy it near the LOC (where it may be within enemy artillery range) in the hope that the enemy might intrude there. With more Akash/ QRSAM and the S-400 the situation will be very different.ashishvikas wrote:Wanted to understand, if we deploy our SAMs near LOC locations.. as per reports 16 enemy fighters violated our Air Space.

Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
Bad wish, Singhaji. I am afraid "teams" are already on that. The only relieving aspect is that "glide" requires height and small UAVs cannot (yet) reach great heights. This is a really bad nightmare. But they could use something that has total 100kg equivalent payload and spend 75kg of that on fuel to climb really high. Countering this is a nightmare: how many $100K missiles can you expend on these?Singha wrote: for really point targets use a 25kg warhead .. yeh agar halaat hai, paks cannot rely on chinese PGMs, hence the lust for murican JDMs, paveways and "loaners" from saudi and turkey stocks.

To prove my point about Saudi Barbaria being deferent to India:

She even quoted the ancient Sanskrit scripture ‘Rig Veda’ to say that pluralism is crucial to India. "Ekam sat vipra bahudha vadhanti", which means “God is One but learned men describe him in many ways", she said.

FlightRadar24 is only known to aviation enthusiasts, and perhaps some Amateur Radio Operators. So many of the average IT-Vity Munna may be clueless on them. For many life starts and ends on JIRA . They are not getting inputs through any official soures.Singha wrote:speaking of sheeple , none in my office were aware of flightradar24 and the fact that paks are now cowering behind closed airspace for 3 days now and its economic, "losing face" and social impact.
