Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
disposable jihadis and tribal lashkars could be use for some stunt like 1965 or kargil.
stiffened by jihadi volunteers from the PA.
i was watching a british pgm on their experiences in helmand province of Af after the 2001 invasion against Taliban.
the officer was saying 80% of the province was open semi desert with no real roads,
the minister of education was himself illiterate
drug cultivation and smuggling was 80% of the economy
on any given day out on the range, you could run across convoys of drug smugglers with MANPAD and HMG protection details, villages fighting wars over water rights, taliban, unknown militias .... and you'd never have a clue who was shooting at you or why.

Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
Post winter there will be heavy infiltration. election and the breakdown of Indian restraint, it is given.
Pak will use infiltration to cause IA casualties. We need to carry out intense 155mm fire assault, not managed caliber responses.
The thing is, given Pak drama of clampdown, when the next terror attack happens, what target will we hit? All Pak passand media and western supporter will pin it on "local factors".
The recent attempt was by HM. Not the usual LeT or JeM.

Interesting that HM did that. That would be HM(PoK). Suggests that Target #2 On Balakot Raat was indeed Muzzafarabad. Its like "what you gonna hit now? The rubble where our HQ stood?" The bummer for them is that the bummer is hanging upside down somewhere getting his Brainwaves measured.
Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
Too many TSPA snipers placed in this area, also drug smuggling into India happens largely through this sector. Capturing it will end infiltration into Jammu.Y I Patel wrote:I do not think the Akhnoor dagger poses any threat to India anymore- this is not the 70’s or 80’s when the only lifeline to J and K passed within arty shot of this dagger. Nowadays it is a convenient bulls eye area for Dhanush and Pinaka.
Which is why I would be very surprised if India did salami slicing close to Akhnoor. Other areas to the north of Akhnoor are far more attractive.

Much easier to pound it with 155mmKlaus wrote:Too many TSPA snipers placed in this area, also drug smuggling into India happens largely through this sector. is this stretch fenced ?
Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
Yes, and it's not a small village but a decent sized town. What makes the dagger so dangerous is it's proximity to the Jammu-Poonch highway. A lot of CAPF and IA batallions have their camps on both sides of this highway.Singha wrote:is this stretch fenced ?

Apologies, should have provided more context:-

Add in a guy with a flamethrowing guitar and you get Mad Max. If TSP establishment ever collapses, vast tracts of NWFP will end up like this. Balochistan is already getting there with TSPA as main villain.Singha wrote:i was watching a british pgm on their experiences in helmand province of Af after the 2001 invasion against Taliban.

Aren't vast tracts of NWFP already like this, especially the formerly FATA regions. Not to mention their largest city Peshawar being as lawless as they come.nachiket wrote: If TSP establishment ever collapses, vast tracts of NWFP will end up like this.

This is a case where anyone can do a correlation of facts, don't have to have the long database memory and AI system of UBCN.80% of their economy is drug trade

seems tsp railway has been unable to clear their one main trunk route for 2 days after a goods train derailed in rahim yar khan
https://www.pakistantoday.com.pk/2019/0 ... disrupted/
–Passengers stranded at stations in major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Quetta
KARACHI: Railway traffic between Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta continued to be disrupted due to the derailing of more than eight bogies of a freight train near Rahim Yar Khan two days ago.
Passengers stuck at Rahim Yar Khan railway station lashed out at Railway Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and the railways authorities for the poor arrangements at train stations.
Stranded passengers complained about lack of drinking water and food at the stations. They said that no relief was provided to passengers that had been stuck for as many as 20 hours.
The derailment which had led 1,525 feet of train track unusable continue to disrupt the traffic on the route, causing losses to the tunes of millions.
According to a spokesperson for PR’s headquarters, train operations were fully restored on Tuesday after the field teams cleared both sides of the track in afternoon. However, an official of the PR associated with the Train Examination Department in Sukkur said that train operations to will only normalise in 48 to 72 hours, reported a local media outlet.
According to railways authorities, a goods train derailed in Rahim Yar Khan resultantly up and down tracks were closed for all kinds of traffic.
The closure of tracks resulted in the delay of Hazara Express, Shalimar Express, and Shah Hussain.
The railways authorities reached the scene and started operation to clear the track.
The officials of Pakistan Railways said that the delay is being caused due to lack of reserved bogies and engines which are now being used in newly launched trains.
“If the new trains had not been launched then trains could have been run on reserve engines and bogies,” the officials told media.
The officials further said that suspension of certain train services is being considered to fix the schedule.
After an initial inquiry report into the incident, the PR authorities have suspended three officials. Qasim Zahoor, the deputy divisional superintendent for Sukkur, has been suspended over unauthorised absence from his job since last Friday and the inefficiency shown by his team while conducting relief operations, it was reported.

Didnt get this. So Pakistan is releasing prisoners after they have completed their sentences on humanitarian grounds. Isnt it just due process? What is humanitarian about it?Singha wrote: Radio Pakistan: Pakistan has decided to release 360 Indian prisoners on humanitarian basis upon completion of their sentences, from next Monday (08 April).

1) Another terror attack coming, in interior India, away from LoC
2) Will be executed by locals
3) JeM or LeT will *not* claim responsibility
4) Sleeper cells in media (NDTV) activated to not punish Pakistan without cause. Because you see, Modi has radicalized Muslims
5) Pakistan is acting responsibly by releasing prisoners. Therefore Balakot 2.0 will be an act of war. Bad Modi.
Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
JeM/LeT are like the fox who fell into a vat of blue paint. they can attempt to restrain themselves, but when their kind of things happen, out will come the Tara-e-Taqbeer and Ke Ke Huuua Ke Ke Huuua fox calls.

This sounds like a desperate attempt by them to use Indian “prisoners” as hostages to prevent another Balakot.Singha wrote:ANI

Reading between the lines, they promising to release these prisoners over the next few years as their sentences end & if another Balakot happens, all bets are off.
I don’t think it will work
Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
Can anyone with skills on GE and having GE Pro compare Haji Pir historical images and see if Pak positions have been hit?
The current GE image show, bunker kind of structure damaged. And i don't have access to old images to compare.

Haji pir defences look oriented to defend an attack from valleys to its south
The hills to its north are deemed secure...
Since its sticking out in a bulge inside india, both directions should be fair game

Just about 200' East of the Shrine, they seem to have a helipad and a large pillbox (CC?).
Re: Operation Balakot: News & Discussion
Got to watch the area with 3d mode, provides a great perspective. It is a bowl on the top, with valley on 3 sides. Pak positions on the reverse to defend against south.
With artillery from the North we should be able to hit the positions. Wish someone looks at historical images, if we have been doing it.
It will take heavy pounding including air power to knock off this position. And i think it is snow covered at this moment..

I can clearly see that some of the damage was not there in earlier pictures. This picture is from Oct 2017, newer pictures have shade so am not posting those. GE currently has last pictures from Oct 2018, and Google maps is newest with the most damage at the two markers.
I am no expert, but pin on the left of the picture resembles a hit from 4 Spice 2000 of Balakot fame in the Google map pict, compare with the clean Google Earth pict.
