Hyd police seized 40kg cannabis. What a progress we are having!! Leaders running out of options to 'motivate' their cadres.
Re: 2019 General Elections News and Discussion
Crowds at rallies by themselves don't translate into votes. Even Bihar had huge crowds at BJP rallies before assembly elections, but that did not result in BJP win. But till now BJP could not have even dreamed of these kind of crowds in Bengal. So things are slowly changing in the right direction.

Re: 2019 General Elections News and Discussion
Economy and development work in India is number one factor in winning elections. There are a lot of misconceptions around this point. Here are some of the points-
Atal ji went to election with only two years good economic growth, the first 4 years were somewhere between miserable and tolerable (sanctions, kargil war etc)
MMS went to election in 2008 with 5 years of 8% economic growth and got a second term
Modi ji lost in Bihar because Nitish has done a lot of work and Bihar’s gdp has topped the state growth charts for years. When modi use to ask people in rallies “ bijli milli?” Expecting crowd to sought back “ nahi mili” but insted got almost no response because they did get electricity. Based on his development work Nitish had positioned himself as essential element to power.
MP and Chattisgarh CMs got 3 terms, simply based on development agends. They lost due tocorruption around them and anti-incumbency
Mamta’s success in WB also largely hinges on to economic growth in WB during her tenure (~12%/year)
Odisha has grown ~10%/ year since 2011 giving Naveen Patnaik Multiple terms.
Modiji won Gujarat 3 times and got to PM’s seat with solid reputation of development work as chief minister.
There are a lot of factors that sway elections but i wouldn’t discount development as small factor. Honest and clean image combined with development is most winneable formula in Indian elections

Frankly, whenever I've read BR discussions before elections, people have been saying ticket distribution isn't right. The BJP has won some of these elections handsomely, and lost others badly, which leads me to conclude it is all subjective and not a good barometer of what will eventually happen.

On State resources
[4/3, 3:15 PM] R.Muppalla: I wrote a chronology of why freebies will come down. let me collect.
[4/3, 3:16 PM] R.Muppalla: (1) During PVNR government the first thing that happend was to remove "automactic centre's counter gaurantee " to multilateral loans to states. The States have done damage. But when this was removed, CBN did a drama like " structural reforms "
(2) But the market of sops survived because of coalitions and Planning commission. The planning commission is a means to control the states in terms of deciding quantum state can get. Here the central government can be coerced on how much a state can grab. Both CBN and YSR milked the fragile coalitions and compulsions.
(3) Now Modi as a first step removed planning commission and did what a state can get as an automatic formula. This led to no nonsense in allocations.
[4/3, 3:16 PM] R.Muppalla: (4) on top of it GST has created the picture of clarity.
[4/3, 3:17 PM] R.Muppalla: At this moment all states can do is giving sops within what they have and not via coercion. In addition DBT made is massively difficult to move one allocation to their pet peeves. If a state says they will give load waiver they have to cut their other pet peeves.
[4/3, 3:17 PM] R.Muppalla: The reality is very evident at the failures of both MP and Rajasthan government's loan waiver schemes.
[4/3, 3:17 PM] R.Muppalla: To go back - we have to roll back GST, Niti Ayog and also 1992's PVNR decision.
[4/3, 3:18 PM] R.Muppalla: This sequence of Modi gov decisions will kill the dynasty parties. They will never be able to win using sectarian stuff in their states. Once they do broad based, their own houses will crumble.
[4/3, 3:19 PM] R.Muppalla: The entire sour point for CBN was rejection of his request for "auto guaranteed ADB/WB loans by center for his pet peeves of Amaravati investments"
[4/3, 3:19 PM] R.Muppalla: SP and BSP will not recover. BJD also may not survive. NCP may not recover. This is a new reality of Indian politics.
[4/3, 3:19 PM] R.Muppalla: If TDP loses this time, probably Telugus will never see this party back to power.
[4/3, 3:20 PM] R.Muppalla: YCP and TRS will need one more term before they kiss good bye.
[4/3, 3:20 PM] R.Muppalla: I feel like watching Chavnakya serial on how the regional satraps are made to cave in .

CBNs demand for sovereign guarantee of state loans from
international or multilateral sources would never be achieved . It is not the centers job to guarantee something the state is applying for . It has nothing to do with the central government , but that people’s tax money elsewhere are not meant to backstop AP fiscal actions .
I agree that states should have independence to issue bonds and seek loans from WB, ADB or anyone who will loan them money , on the back of their own fiscal discipline . But these loans are to be obtained at rates the states can get , and to be paid back with no guarantee from the center. If they miss a payment or default that is something they face the full consequences of themselves .

Just watched some YouTube videos by Prannoy Roy and Coupta. Both spin a narrative that there is no national party, but rather statewise leaders. Roy goes so far to claim that there is voter suppression in India and subtly hints that this has been learned from the US. He further makes the claim that there is no real economic data and we may see a surprise like 1977 this time around.
Re: 2019 General Elections News and Discussion
/Continuing, roy then learns that he has been a dolphin molester since he was six years old, and that in chellakere, goi has been secretly harnessing unicorn energy to take over the world, all from well placed us sources off-course.
Coupta realizes that he is rambo incarnate and is born to protect democracy from armed forces endeavors and is signed by marvel as the entity to protect earth from all evil.

My take on the CBN vs Jagan contest:vijayk wrote:Again, I prefer TDP to Jagan. That does not mean I have to accept lies and propaganda unleashed by TDP. No state will get everything they wants. My point is AP got screwed thoroughly by Modi has no basis and was mostly done by TDP /spread by CON/Left supporters. We have enough data to counter that. In the end, I want people to realize not to be too reliant on lies of politicians but look at data. You might still vote for TDP due to your preference/prejudice but at least don't spread lies.
CBN has proved to be one of the most anti-national politicians in the country right now (and that's a tall order given who is currently the opposition).. his interviews with NDTV, where he is on record saying nobody died in Balakot and everything claimed by IAF & Modi was rubbish and his public meetings, where he is calling Modi as a "terrorist" or his Pulwama conspiracy theory that Modi killed Indian soldiers to justify a war with Pakistan, because "the blood thirsty Modi has in the past killed thousands of minorities in Gujarat", can never be excused. Their cadre had posted rabid pro-Pakistan and anti-Indian messages in social media, outright shamelessly. Amit Shah is right in saying, that even if he begs, CBN won't be allowed back to NDA. This guy is the worst politician in the country right now, I dare say even worse than Jihadi Didi - who at least was an open enemy all along. This guys is the proverbial snake that bit the hands that fed it. All because Modi govt started asking him for greater accountability on the funds it gave him.
I dont know if you are from AP, but his reign has been far worse than YSR's reign in terms of conversions and in general anti-Hindu practices. There are now Christmas celebrations in temple premises in Srisailam, one of the 7 jyotirlingas, by CBN appointed crypto-Christian administrative officers which is a matter of shame for Hindus, TTD jewelry being stolen is not yet closed. There are accusations of money being pilfered from TTD devasthanam as well. Money & offerings are being looted out of other big temples (Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada) as well. Outright injustices & skewed secularism - where TTD exchequer was billed crores of money for requesting land in the new capital city for a hindu temple, but twice or thrice the amount of land was given out FREE OF COST to build mosques & churches. There are documented evidence of demolishing over 30 temples around Vijayawada area with no provision to respectfully relocate them to other regions, while going overboard in providing land & inaugurating new minority structures effected by land acquisition for capital city.
Jagan, a 4th gen christian, has been more subdued in his attack on Modi and has only confined criticism to special status, and more importantly hasn't made open anti-national statements like his opponent. Jagan is aware that he lost the previous term due to fear of his Christian background in Hindu majority, in fact some Hindus are still wary of this. But he is going overboard to prove he is not anti-Hindu: apparently he went through a 2 month daily Mahabharata parayanam routine to prove to Hindu seers that he is not anti-Hindu and get blessings from China Jeer Swamy... is apparently getting his nomination done as per Hindu calendar.. he has apparently promised to follow Hindu calendars and rule as advised on Hindu practice matters based on the Vaishnava seer's advice, if voted to power. Frankly, after the backlash he received on his Tirumala GOs, even YSR took better care of TTD & its sanctity than CBN has done in the past few yrs - all the TTD Dalit outreach programs that actually fought back against conversions among Dalits, were started during his reign after all.
Of course, it may all be a sham, who knows, but at least he isn't making anti-national statements or has done anti-Hindu activities like CBN... Hope we see Babu get his comeuppance for his perpetual backstabbing nature this time around.
