Zakir Naik Says Won’t Come To India Till BJP Is In Power; Claims Situation Was Better Under Previous Regime
by Swarajya Staff - May 14 2019
“It was better before than it is now. Before the BJP government came, you could speak against the government, and at least 80 per cent of the times you would get justice. Today the chances are 10-20 per cent,” Naik said in an interview with The Week.
Naik, on the question of returning to India if there is a change in the government, said, “Yes, of course, the chances of returning are much more,”
“Today, everyone is saying something for their own benefit, including the Congress. Out of the two evils, the Congress is the lesser evil,” he said adding that he fears for “the country and the Muslims if the BJP comes back to power,”
Zakir Naik is wanted by India for allegedly inciting young people with his hate speeches. He is being probed for terror and money laundering charges by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). He had left India in 2016 and is presently residing in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Thanks for posting the full NaMo comments. This was a Go-NoGo Decision Point. Weather was bad. Usually that means "scratch".syam wrote:Congis are vindictive bunch. ..kedariprasad wrote: .. I have quoted what he talked about RADAR with interview link.
Instead NaMo supported the side that said:
.If weather is bad for us it is worse for Pakis
This is standard for good leaders in competitions: they look at how the same conditions affect the enemy, and realize that the enemy is disadvantaged more. So he votes/ decides on "GO!"
His sense was perfect, as events proved: the Pakis had no clue where the Indian planes went - or they had some clue but realized that they would be smashed if they tried to intervene, so they circled at higher altitudes over their Prime Assets such as Pindi and Abbotabad.
Why? Because, signal to noise ratio is at best marginal, and goes to pot if there is any degradation. It was dark night. Clouds. Mountains. Rain below the clouds. Death was fluttering its wings and batting its eyelids at the PAF. NOT a night for interceptions.

^ I have noooo idea what that means, but generally air combat tactics appear to involve stuff like Diving 4 da Deck which in this case is near-certain to be fatal with zero visibility and radar echoes from the canyons. I once tried driving in downtown Pal Alto using Gee Pee Ess and it kept telling me to make U-turns on the highway or go sideways. And that was clear mid-afternoon and only wackos around, no IAF.

I see no real value add for rajya sabha. if democracy is rule of people, let the lok sabha be the only one.
RajyaSabha also represents the people - the people chosen by the people of the states in the respective State assembly elections. Without RajyaSabha India will loose its federal nature.
So there is no question of "abolishing" Rajya Sabha.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The Rajya Sabha represents the states and tries to ensure greater federalism
Somewhat like the US Senate , but not entirely in that each state has 2 senators , but in the RS , smaller states still get greater representation on per capita basis as compared to Lok Sabha
It also gives voice to the elites , similar to House of Lords
In short a contrived entity that basically today gets hijacked by the oppn parties to thwart the govt from carrying out its mandate

This is why I feel bad when guys like pp hype up Modi's fancied chances of winning by painting such a rosy picture. reckon that more than half of the urban morons are inspired by folks like pp because of whatsapp forwards alone. I certainly get enough of them.
This subtle social media engineering meme that has been talked about here forces many to assume that they personally need not go and vote since there are many others who have already ensured Modi's victory, even before the bleddy votes have been cast.
pappu's BIF backroom team is like an iceberg, about 98% of it is just not visible to the naked eye.
It has many CAMBRIDGE ANALYTICA inspired goras/Indians and deeply vested offshore interests that are exceedingly keen that Modi just not return in 2019 because, apart from everything else, that dreaded scenario simply makes 2024 that much more difficult to surmount and it may just become a bridge too far.
the ones highly visible pappu's in backroom team are simply there to divert public attention and provide alternate moving targets by coming on tv shows, sm and print media and creating controlled chaos as per carefully planned strategy hoping that spme meme would catch fire and go viral.

In a recent article in Washington Post, journalist Barkha Dutt complained about Narendra Modi and the ongoing election being stuck in the past. Here is an open letter in response.
Dear Barkha,
John Steinbeck once said, “Power does not corrupt, fear does, perhaps the fear of loss of power”. I know the loss of power experienced by power-brokering elites of India has been nothing short of devastating. Your latest in Washington Post is a good example of the fear that a possibility of a second term for Modi evokes in the bosom of many. A short analysis of the double standards, bias and selective outrages is outlined in the piece that follows.
Allow me to open by discussing your assertion that “Aayega to Modi hi!”, the popular slogan of BJP supporters in India, is a tactic to induce fatalism in the minds of voters. There is no reason for BJP to induce fatalism into the minds of voters. The voters overwhelmingly support Narendra Modi in any case. The ones to shudder at the thought of a second term for Modi are the handful of elites who have been wielding disproportionate influence on Indian democracy until recently.
In this highly asymmetrical struggle the Goliath-esque elite hold sway over institutions, and have a near monopoly on many platforms. They can malign an entire country’s image in front of the world, if its unwashed masses dare to fall out of line, as they did in 2014.
The left-leaning elites thrived under the previous regime due to their ability to make connections needed for backroom deals, and also because the previous regime preferred controlling many through appeasing a few. The fact that the Indian media always had a dog in the fight was never in doubt, but what separates 2019 from all previous elections is how openly journalists are rooting for, and aggressively advocating for, a grand alliance of all parties with no common ideology except the need to stop Modi.
So when an ordinary Indian says, “Aayega to Modi hi”, she is giving voice to millions who understand the enormity of the challenges and they are saying, “Bring it on!” What you see as arrogance is in reality defiance.
To answer your question of why, if Modi is the hope for the future, he is stuck in the past (reference to his comments about Rajiv Gandhi)—Modi isn’t stuck in the past. He is being forced to go back there because that is where his opposition is stuck. When Modi’s opposition is not lying through their teeth about how RSS killed Mahatma Gandhi, it is telling cringe-worthy stories about how Rajiv Gandhi brought computers to India!
From nearly writing Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel out of India’s history to whitewashing murderous zealots like Aurangzeb and Tipu Sultan, the well-oiled myth-making machine of the left has been systematically building every oppressor of the Indian majority as some kind of hero while destroying—either through neglect, or through slander —those who do not fit their narrative.
Earlier this year, Rahul Gandhi had called Indian freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar “a coward” and mimicked the latter ‘apologising’ to the British government on stage. In case you were not aware of it, Savarkar died in 1966, a full 25 years before Rajiv Gandhi, so when Modi speaks about Rajiv, he is not stuck in the past, he just hasn’t travelled as far back as Rahul has. The door Modi walked through was opened by his opposition with their rhetoric of the dynasty’s contribution to India as their electoral pitch.
While invoking a comparison between Modi and Donald Trump, you mention that Modi has a need to “construct” an enemy to go to battle. But tell me Ms. Dutt, who has been constructing the mythical enemy of “majoritarianism”, of “Hindu Pakistan”? Who has been painting a social service organization as a militia—a Hindu ISIS in a manner of speaking? Who has repeated ad nauseam how India is becoming more dangerous for minorities, women, and journalists?
The enemy was constructed by the power brokers, whose petulance at the loss of power was only exceeded by their recklessness in retaliation. These bullies were hoping this narrative will cow down decent people into submission. They were counting on ratcheting up the “if you don’t agree with me you must be a Fascist” rhetoric and reaping electoral dividends because that’s what used to happen earlier.
Instead, India resisted.
Your anger at the masses that you have ceaselessly tried to portray as barbarians has more to do with this failed narrative than any real widening of fault lines.
You further write “what is considered distasteful and coarse by liberals only seem to make Modi politically stronger”, but tell me madam, what exactly is considered distasteful by liberals like you? Surely it is not goons of a political party entering people’s houses and beating them up for social media posts, because your kind celebrated it. Surely it is not an authoritarian Chief Minister throwing people in jail for memes, attacking political opponents, and all but making it impossible to hold fair elections, because elites have celebrated her as the “match for Modi-Shah”.
From humanizing murderous maniacs by calling them “Headmaster’s sons” to swooning over the charm of a convicted politician in jail, there is no low that liberals haven’t plumbed as long as it has served their political goals.
What did we, the ordinary supporters, do that you find coarse and distasteful? Oh yes, we supported a politician you don’t want in power!
Lastly, about that comparison between Rahul and Michelle. For most parts, Michelle Obama has walked her talk about “going high”. Compare her dignified composure with the tantrums of an entitled son of a dynasty, and one realizes why American Democrats should be the ones to get angry about this comparison.
A carefully orchestrated hug doesn’t even begin to erase the uncouthness that the Congress president has demonstrated time and again in the last five years. Whether it is referring to a freedom fighter as a “coward” or repeatedly referring to your own Prime Minister as a “thief”, there is little doubt in anybody’s mind that our discourse is coarser today due to the Gandhi scion.
The social media team of his party, with his full blessing, have engaged in some of the most despicable and tasteless propaganda campaigns in the history of Indian politics. And yet instead of questioning his unsubstantiated allegations against the PM, you have always tried to put the onus on Modi to clear his name. When Rahul’s chief advisor recently dismissed the 1984 Sikh pogrom as “hua to hua (it happened, so what?)”, the journalist fraternity’s collective reaction was: “Why did he have to speak now?”
The person you compare to Michelle was recently forced to apologise to the Supreme Court for lying and is currently out on bail in a financial fraud case. So forget going high, the lows we see in India’s discourse have Rahul’s footprints all over them.
And curiously, you were half-way right when you compared Rahul to the Clintons for being seen as a symbol of a corroded and entrenched corrupt system. In that light, your change of stance from Hillary to Michelle seems to symbolize your desperation more than any personal growth on the part of the Congress president.

Following the tweets by the veteran, Indian Express had done another story, which was used to justify its dubious coup theory.
Not merely that, Lt Gen Panag had also cast aspersions on the character of General V.K. Singh who is now a Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party. In what he claimed to be an “assessment of a military mind based on reported information in the press”, Lt Gen Panag hinted that the troop movements were a pre-emptive attempt to stop the then UPA government from sacking him. He had posted five tweets after the Indian Express story.
The now-retired Lt General has almost made it a habit of endorsing fake news which targets the Modi government. In October 2017 after the Indian Air Force chopper crashed in the harsh terrain of Arunachal Pradesh, the mortal remains of the martyrs were airlifted. Lt Gen Panag, who once served as a Commanding Officer with the Indian Army shared misleading images of the coffins to insinuate that the government and the army deliberately disrespected the martyrs.

Delhi businessman stabbed to death for protesting daughter’s harassment
The victim, Dhruv Raj Tyagi, had gone to the house of one of the youths with the intention of complaining about his behaviour to the youth’s parents late on Saturday night..................
Piecefool people at it again. A young girl is taunted in public.
An incensed Tyagi dropped his sick daughter home and took his son with him to the house of the main culprit, Mohd Shamsher Alam, to complain to his parents.
A planned attack, say victims’ kin
The initial autopsy report says Tyagi had three fatal wounds in his liver, kidney and intestines. He died of heart failure due to severe bleeding. DCP (west) Monika Bhardwaj said a case under sections of attempt to murder was registered on Sunday, which would now be converted into a case of murder against the accused.
According to the Tyagi family, the attack took place around midnight at the WZ block of Basai Darapur village near Moti Nagar. Tyagi had gone to the doctor to get his daughter treated for migraine. On their way back, when they were turning into a lane leading to their house, the group of youths chatting at a street corner started gesturing at his daughter.

This twitter/Gutrgoo profile needs must have some maturity, minimum amount of posts (that are not bot generated), profiles that these individuals follow, and the ideology they endorse.banrjeer wrote:Singha wrote:forums need to evolve and adapt to attract and retain fresh blood.

told to run,... and they ran, and police fired from the back...... then molten asphalt was poured on their face to disfigure so that even their own mothers couldn't recognize them.... and then the bodies were dumped in Ganga at various places..... In pretty much two years things calmed down....
Those with connections ran in two directions - out of the state, and the US consulate. It was said that the US consulate was too busy to issue them visa / travel documents. Uncle was too happy to co-opt many of these naxals, and help them settle in the mid-Atlantic big cities. They provided valuable info about the not so violent intelligentia who were sympathetic to Viet-Congs and were writing fire hot poems and articles against the US bombing of Vietnam. ..... Prominent bong literary figures were then induced with money & honey to change their mood overnight .... That's another story for another day.

Please dont forget Pitroda ji.
I don't think that his tattered reputation will be so easily repairable now. his days are numbered because the congis will lay blame on him personally were pappu to fail in his endeavor to become the PM.
Looking at the way this is being played out in the news and debates, and how Modi Ji is using it in his rallies - to make this appear as the general Congoon mantra and attitude towards everything. It seems to me that this is the MSA 'Chaiwalla' moment in this election. Granted, five phases were over before this happened, but there was/is enough left in the process to ensure a significant vote transfer to the BJP in the crucial states of the North. I don't recall RaGa ever chastising his lieutenants in public, far less asking them to apologize. This must be hurting real bad. Even MSA was only quietly sidelined. For him to state in a rally that Pitgaya needs to apologize is huge. Too late though and serves them right.

pappu and the congis desperately wanted to avoid this because of the punjab and dilli elections hence pappu's public call for the apology
rajiv's carefully constructed and papered over mr clean image has vanished like a wisp of smoke in a storm and the responsibility must rest squarely with pappu and no one else

For this election first time in my life I started reading Twitter and one thing I noticed regularly is that social media is dominated by right wing, nationalists. Sheer dominance. Left etc. are not even distant second.
And yet, even with their large customer base is being RW, these companies are manipulating the news. Talk about arrogance.

#ChintamaniSpeaks #Elections2019 @Election_in The numbers coming from Bengal are beyond belief. Looks like we will go completely wrong on West Bengal because of uncertainties on fair polling. In a fair poll, TMC cannot cross into double digits. How to assess extent of rigging

It's hard to tell whether Chintamani's cryptic statement is about upside (north of 25, but not a complete wipeout of TMC) or downside (under 10). AshRockzz for example states:

Hell breaks loose in North Kolkata. TMC men try to disrupt huge Amit Shah rally.
Getting interesting reports from Bengal. From Phase 3 of polls, BJP/Sangh cadre have started hitting back, staging reprisal attacks in districts. In some places, local residents repelled TMC by force

Gurus, a noob pooch, but why is the judiciary so difficult for BJP to manage? I can understand a scenario like in the US, where once you have a judge like Scalia or RBG that either side detests, you have no recourse but to wait for the incumbent's death. Don't our judges retire at 65? What gives?
