Even from 90s or prior, NYT has always been like that while WSJ few blocks down has been on the right side. They always represent global liberal order and dead against YYYs (Nazis, Zionists, and Hindutva). There used to be horrible female writer called Barbara Corssette dissing anything India non-Hindutva or Hindutva. Luckily long time ago working on a contract for them helped me to learn for real understanding of American media and politics.Ardeshir wrote:It is quite possible that they are loony leftists, but on the balance of probability, it is perhaps a lot more than this as has often been speculated here.Karan M wrote:Yes, you are right. - The NYT Company has two large blocks of shareholders. One is Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim. He owns Class A shares, that are traded publicly but have limited voting rights.
- The Ochs-Sulzberger Trust owns about 90% of the Class B shares, which are privately held and have all the voting power.
- Even the board of directors are split into Class A and Class B directors.
- The Class B board consists of Ochs-Sulzberger family members and long time associates, mostly of Jewish and/or WASP descent.
- Also something to remember/file for later use, this year, the NYT ran distinctly anti-Jewish cartoons, suggesting a strong split between elite Amreeki-Yahoodi elite and Israeli Yahoodis might have finally occurred.

^ They are private universities where seats are available for sale at high prices. Anyone can attend provided the price is paid. Hopefully IRS is taking note of foreign degrees and sending source of income inquiries. Should also add that at least Harvard uses a Dean's Interest List to target recruitment in hopes of getting donations.

Here is what Pak-pasand Kashmiri Separatist and Twitter India's Head of Politics and Government is projecting for UP:
https://anthro.ai/indianelections/notes ... ne-ballot/We believe the BSP + SP + RLD will win 54 seats in Uttar Pradesh. We may be wrong about 8 seats. The BSP will win 27. The SP will win 22. The RLD will win 2. We have a few more weak projections for the BSP than for the SP.
We believe the BJP will win 21 seats. This may go up by 9 seats we have currently projected for other parties.
We believe the INC will win 4 seats.
We believe the PSP(L) may win 1 seat — though it could easily swing the SP’s way.

American Jews have always been left of Centre, but there has been a distinct shift further left in the past 2 decades. I know many who haven't taken up Israeli citizenship despite being eligible, because then they cannot go to the Westbank for protesting 'Israeli Occupation'.

BTW people keep harping 2004 with out knowing what happened.
Two things happened:
CBN lost AP to YSR who swept the state.
BJP lost UP seats due to undercutting the local BJP by stall warts in Delhi.
In the end Congress got 10 seats more than BJP and the President had to invite the largest party to form the govt.
Anil Ambani arm twisted Mulayam Singh into supporting the UPA.

But in the next breath, they are whining about EVMs. I mean if they are so confident that exit polls are bogus, then the paranoia over EVMs? In fact how are exit polls even related to EVMs?

But here is, what the Jihadi Sultana posted on Teetar.
Now, she is saying (quintessential antipode of logic, deduction, etc.)I don’t trust Exit Poll gossip. The game plan is to manipulate or replace thousands of EVMs through this gossip. I appeal to all Opposition parties to be united, strong and bold. We will fight this battle together
- Media channels not beholden to her (read Times Now, R, and Zee News (Not the Zee 24 Ghanta, though)) have enticed people, or the pollsters to put made up numbers favouring the NDA
- NDA and a pliant EC will doctor the count of the EVM results to match these numbers.
Hence, EVMs are the most potent WMDs after N-weapons.
That's as much as I can stretch my argument for them

CBN meets MB, they agree going to Rashtrapati Bhavan prior to the votes being counted will serve no purpose.
Anyone with some familiarity of Article 75(1) be able to offer counsel as to what is the legality of an alliance approaching the Prez prior to the leader of the largest party being invited to form govt.
PS I understand that the Prez inviting the leader of the largest party is based on convention as the constitution does not spell out norms. FYI, Modi did not stake claim to form govt in 2014 despite am outright majority, instead they submitted a letter with support from allies.

Another thing that has really upset the NYT, AJ, BBC, Reuters and their local lackeys is that this election is the first in history where the turnout of women, mums, sisters, granmas are greater than all the men/ hombres voting ie more women have voted than men, and that trend is set to continue as girls become more empowered. Sisters are doing it for themselves ; and not for Raga or his sis.Kati wrote:This will give the LibTurds a shiver...

Any din now, RaGa will open his upper aperture again and attack SC If you think back about The Dog(s) That Did Not Bark:New Delhi:
Former President Pranab Mukherjee complimented the Election Commission over its "perfect" handling of the Lok Sabha polls on Monday, taking a starkly divergent stand on the matter from that of the Congress and other opposition parties.
"If we want to strengthen institutions, we've to keep in mind that institutions are serving well in this country, and if democracy has succeeded, it's largely due to perfect conduct of elections by all Election Commissioners starting from Sukumar Sen to the present Election Commissioners. All are appointed by the executive and they are doing their job well. You can't criticise them. It was perfect conduct of the elections," he said at an event held to launch "Defining India Through Their Eyes", a book by NDTV's Editorial Director Sonia Singh.
Pranab Mukherjee, who was the Finance Minister in the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government before being elected as the country's 13th President in 2012, also appreciated the wholehearted manner in which the country took part in the electoral process. "As many as 67.3% participated in this Lok Sabha election -- that's more than 2/3rd. And after many years, I got to cast my vote in a booth as citizen Pranab Mukherjee," he said.
The former President's endorsement of the Election Commission comes a day after Congress chief Rahul Gandhi accused it of yielding to the ruling BJP despite having the constitutional responsibility of providing a level playing field to all political parties. "From electoral bonds and EVMs to manipulating the election schedule, NaMo TV, Modi's Army & now the drama in Kedarnath; the Election Commission's capitulation before Mr Modi & his gang is obvious to all Indians. The EC used to be feared & respected. Not anymore," Rahul Gandhi tweeted soon after polling ended at 6 pm.

Only the first minute or two have some eskimos talking sense. After that most of them as ho-hum about vikas and by the end of it you can clearly see them supporting the old dynast and his party.
Truth be told after watching this video, I'm getting shibbers.
If there is an eskimo consolidation behind Congis then it might be a tougher fight in UP/Bihar than expected. This seems like eskimos have abandoned the SP/BSP ship and climbed on to Congis one. The only counter to this is the reverse consolidation of Sanatan votes across caste/party divide.
I hope I'm wrong but that is the signal I'm getting after watching this video.
Re: 2019 General Elections News and Discussion
It is exactly the opposite effect. In almost all UP seats barring Amethi and Rae Bareli, the main contest is between BJP and MTB. The INC is not really in the picture and would be in third place. If a significant number of the greens are switching votes from SP to INC, that is classic vote-cutting and will ensure more seats for the BJP.vimal wrote:If there is an eskimo consolidation behind Congis then it might be a tougher fight in UP/Bihar than expected. In BH, not only the chemistry, but also the "arithmetic", is way too strong in favor of the NDA. Additionally, I think Owaisi keeps putting up random candidates in "green areas" of BH...another classic vote-cutter effect that will screw the UPA.

Err...this is from more than 1 year ago. I believe the Nishads have indeed seen some churning in their loyalties for LS 2019. According to Dr BB's discussion this effect will reduce some of the margins for BJP in eastern UP, but won't stall the momentum.

If predictions are true, they reinforce Narendra Modi's image as a leader whom Indians trust the most
If predictions are true, they reinforce Narendra Modi's image as a leader whom Indians trust the most
The other set of analysts tend to portray Modi as a strong leader capable of taking tough decisions, a tireless worker, an excellent communicator who has turned the aspirational middle class into his permanent vote bank and has extended appeal among the poor with wide-ranging welfare schemes with excellent ‘last-mile delivery’ mechanism. For Modi’s core voters, he is a Hindutva icon who offers an alternative reading of the idea of India, triggering Hindu nationalism as the bulwark of a new Hindu awakening and establishing true secularism in a country that draws inspiration not from imported ideas but its own civilisational past.
It seems likely that Modi’s popularity — that far outstrips that of his party — is a combination of these factors and another phenomenon that is readily overlooked. Modi enjoys a huge amount of trust among the electorate. Conducted in April this year, Firstpost Trust Survey pointed towards this phenomenon. At that time, Modi had quadrupled his ‘trust’ factor over Rahul Gandhi, his nearest competitor.
The problem with ‘trust’ as a measure of a leader’s popularity is that it does not easily lend itself to metrics that may be analysed. Yet, downplaying this factor leaves large gaps in analyses. Many analysts are confounded how Modi, despite the lack of well-paying jobs, rural distress, stuttering economy and teething issues over Demonetisation and GST manages to hold on to, and even increase his popularity.
The often-overlooked reason is trust, which allows Modi more leeway among the electorate compared to his peers. This trust factor also enables Modi to make mistakes and get away relatively lightly, because the masses interpret his mistakes as those committed by an individual who is dedicated in his work and is at least trying to do something for the nation instead of just plotting for power or enjoying its perks.
