some good points on why CBN lost
One additional thing I agree from the Hindu paper is better poll management, technical side of which YCP out-sourced to Prasanth Kishore . Naidu on the other hand was doing CEO and pollster job together in high stress environment as he had to build state ground up and lost sight of political strategies and tactics needed and couldn't tackle negative forces against him in the short-term. He didn't have his Amit Shah. All MLAs were good for nothing and he couldn't replace them in 2019 as he needed people to match YCP money power.
In elections finally majority seats matter to get the CM seat. While YCP held his grit and KHAM (K is Reddy here) votebanks, TDP couldn't hold its traditional votebank of BCs due to too much appeasement of Kapus this term. Kapu votebank is always bad news for TDP. It lost in 1989, 2004, 2009, 2019. INC in the past and YCP now effectively used Kapu sword to come to power again and again. I had big doubt on Jensena screwing TDP because it was led by Nadendla Manohar s/o the person who helped Indira to remove NTR in 1984 and state INC was helped by KVP Ramachandra Rao who is #2 of YSR.
Beside BC votebank aspect, he also did huge mistake moving away from BJP and working with INC. TDP inherent DNA since it started by NTR was anti-Congressim. non-communist and conservative TDP core base is compatible with BJP but not with INC, that too even after they split state. He convinced cadre and votebase this time but still the split mind is there.
One good thing Naidu did this time, instead of being stuck up on as developement-only CEO, he distributed most the money to people as welfare schemes towards the end of term. YCP with all welfare promises will have to find sources to fund them. Now KCR also rejoices because he will be less insecure now as Naidu was trying to get IT and other companies to come to AP. AP development will be stinted next 2-3 years unless Center helps.
