some good points on why CBN lost
viewtopic.php?p=2356348#p2356348

One additional thing I agree from the Hindu paper is better poll management, technical side of which YCP out-sourced to Prasanth Kishore . Naidu on the other hand was doing CEO and pollster job together in high stress environment as he had to build state ground up and lost sight of political strategies and tactics needed and couldn't tackle negative forces against him in the short-term. He didn't have his Amit Shah. All MLAs were good for nothing and he couldn't replace them in 2019 as he needed people to match YCP money power.

In elections finally majority seats matter to get the CM seat. While YCP held his grit and KHAM (K is Reddy here) votebanks, TDP couldn't hold its traditional votebank of BCs due to too much appeasement of Kapus this term. Kapu votebank is always bad news for TDP. It lost in 1989, 2004, 2009, 2019. INC in the past and YCP now effectively used Kapu sword to come to power again and again. I had big doubt on Jensena screwing TDP because it was led by Nadendla Manohar s/o the person who helped Indira to remove NTR in 1984 and state INC was helped by KVP Ramachandra Rao who is #2 of YSR.

Beside BC votebank aspect, he also did huge mistake moving away from BJP and working with INC. TDP inherent DNA since it started by NTR was anti-Congressim. non-communist and conservative TDP core base is compatible with BJP but not with INC, that too even after they split state. He convinced cadre and votebase this time but still the split mind is there.

One good thing Naidu did this time, instead of being stuck up on as developement-only CEO, he distributed most the money to people as welfare schemes towards the end of term. YCP with all welfare promises will have to find sources to fund them. Now KCR also rejoices because he will be less insecure now as Naidu was trying to get IT and other companies to come to AP. AP development will be stinted next 2-3 years unless Center helps.

Thanks guys We have learnt a lot through this thread. BJP almost lost onlee :(( :(( :(( and in the future will lose onlee :(( :(( :((

There needs to be a sustained anti BIF news and social media campaign stretching over years or decades till the sticky gunk is fully power hosed and cleaned up.

It would be good to set up a post election "anti-BIF watch" thread

5 minutes after the News18 showed 275 BJP, the evil UPA Combine nuked my internet portal box. Just managed to come back online, but I see that Dilbuji stayed tied to the machinegun till the very end.
Speaking of end, what's the hangup? ECI gone to sleep?
Added later: WOW! There IS hope for WB! Time to send in the 67th Sikh Regiment as we suggested. Massive cleanup time.

More thoughts on Telangana and Andhra:

I watched Jagans speech... not a word of appreciation or congrats to Modi or BJP, forget about Patnaik and DMK. Jagan has ambitions. KCR and KTR were strutting with Jagan but they might come to regret it in a few years. Jagan openly stated a few months ago that he wants to establish in TG by incorporating remnants of INC as base.

Yes the 1984 map was shocking

Yes this will happen. Reddys were mighty upset because of loss of power due to AP split. Rayala-seema+Nellore+Ongole Reddy group * consolidated with vengeance to defeat TDP in those areas. KCR is next. On the other hands Jagan's fate is also in the hands of BJP due to whole lot of cases against him in HC & SC.

* JC Diwakar Reddy of Ananthapur district mentioned about this many times in his usual adhoc speeches

Thanking BJP in AP - where they got a fraction of what NOTA polled and where conspiracy theories of media have been spinning about the invisible Modi-KCR-Jagan nexus - pointless waste of political capital..

CBN first weakened himself in AP by walking away from the BJP, and then showing some remarkable arrogance, seemed to take a victory for granted and shuttled around the country trying to stitch up an alliance and project himself as a national leader. The anti-BJP media, delighted that a former ally had dumped the BJP and become anti-Modi played its part in inflating him like a giant balloon that has spectacularly blown up now.

CBN will soon find that the same media will unceremoniously dump him without delay and praise Jagan Reddy to high heaven, who being an EJ already has his admirers in the left-intellectual-presstitute class.

Hindus of AP already under pressure from EJ's will suffer in this mess.

Apart from the four full state elections (AR, AP, OR, SK), there have been a bunch of vidhan sabha bypolls in a dozen states. BJP/NDA has overall done well and bagged the majority of the bypoll seats. Good news all round.

That's the likely path.. Not sure how aggressive he will be with EJ activities.. but its looking like the entire southern coast from Malabar through Kanyakumari till Orissa is now under Christian influence - UDF, DMK & Jagan..

I am now looking at the statewise results and letting things sink in. Absolutely amazing! Some highlights:

UP: 60+ seats despite MGB!

MH: BJP converts 23 out of 25 contested seats! (SS was a little behind, could only convert 18 out of 23)

WB: BJP 18 seats. Mind-blowing!

BH: BJP converts all 17 contested seats!

KA: BJP/NDA gets 25 (+1 independent) seats! Outside of wildest dreams!

TG: BJP gets 4 seats! Who'd have imagined the level of support for Modi in districts outside of Hyd.

AS: BJP converts 9 out of 10 contested seats!

RJ, MP, GJ, CG: Near-perfect sweep. BJP lost ONLY 3 SEATS out of 91. Amazing considering the assembly elections in these states last year.

JH: BJP converts 11 out of 13 contested seats! Amazing considering all the drama about "tribals abandoning the party".

Odisha:

- Sambit Patra seems narrowly losing in Puri. But he has lowered the other guy's winning margin to only 16K from 2.6L in 2014.

- Surprisingly, Baijayant Panda losing in Kendrapara by 1.5L...a seat that he won in 2014 by 2L. What gives ? I guess the peeps of Odisha are still with "Namaska-aa-aa-ar" Naveen, and may be angry with Panda for deserting the old codger.

.. Path for further expansion in South shall be through Tamil Nadu. Leaderless AIADMK presents an opportunity for BJP to take over and expand. Victory in Karnataka especially in non stronghold areas offers template for Tamil Nadu.

Assam was breached after 30 years. Bengal after 50 years. Regions in Jharkhand and Chattisgarh are Christian dominated but still have gone BJP way.

Bihar:

- Giriraj Singh thrashes the "research scholar" by 4L.

- Jitan Ram Manjhi loses (if he had won, he might have replaced Lalu Yadav as the #1 Comic in sansad).

- Atmaghan Sinha trounced by 2.8L margin. Kushwaha and all his candidates thrashed. All these NDA deserters have got their rewards.

What an election. A powerful second term for NaMo. BJP on its own will be 303. The surprising wins of the total lot is pickup of West Bengal and FOUR great pickups from the state of Telangana. The forts of KCR are breached.

Waiting to see the final results out. Yes the final tally for NDA will be 351 but just want to see it through.

Waiting it out alone while GHQ is blissfully asleep. To while away time checking out our favourite Laal Topi for entertainment. Looks like Burnol is also stocking out in Bakistan. Bajawa-e-Behind.

Advance to 4:20 and listen for 30 secs. He explicitly states that ISI had been trying for 70 years to break up India. Freudian slip. :-?

Got to hand it to these guys. How to spin a setback as a victory. No wonder they are champions of brown-salwar-downhill-skiing

I read a post that Shashi Tharoor may become Leader of Opposition.

However, that would not happen since Congis have once again failed to reach 55 seats and become the official opposition party. So looks like the post will remain vacant. Of course, UPA and INC may designate someone (maybe Tharoor) as their unofficial leader...jo bhi ch*t*yapa karna hai kar lo.

dont think Sonia will agree to Tharoor being anything significant, it will only erode pappu s credibility and standing further inside the congress.

The current official seats won by BJP, from ECI website, is 286. More than the last time. They have the lead in 17 more seats, so the final could be 303.

Braveen Badil's prediction of 304 for BJP was bang on (actual result is looking like 303). He only slightly overestimated the NDA allies (gave them 60, whereas they have got 50). Overall it looks like all his hard work and persistence has paid off. Congrats Doc!
