Aviation Industry has been biggest missed opportunity of last administration. Jayant Sinha should take fair share of blame.

Emphasis on aviation started coming 2nd-3rd year onwards when Modiji understood the value and his speeches show it.

Against touting 100 functional airports it should be something like 500-1000 functional airports for country of India's size.

Every major city should have at least two airports. Our airports are already hitting peak capacity!

Such large fleets, and no proper MRO facilities!

Air India international ops should have been given emphasis right from start. Rather it has happened organically and now almost every AI flight to EU, US, let alone Middle East is jam packed.

Lesser said about DGCA the better. While the whole world was grounding 737 Maxs DGCA was acting as sales agent of Boeing; while PW powered A320NEOs have seen so many incidents, DGCA continues to dither on what to do and goes by what PW says; latest gem: Indigo flights have reduced toilets from 3 to 2 to increase seats causing 'Potty' jams and DGCA cares two hoots!

List is endless. Hopefully this administration shall have learnt and recognize immense job creation potential of Aviation!

Amit Shah Ji should ideally go to Defense. After Parrikar Ji, Defense is at cross roads. Whatever progress we are seeing now was set in motion by Parrikar Ji. Nirmala Nitharaman Ji has flown across the country but added precious little as vision, moving things on ground.

Defense has been raison d'etre of BRF so reasons known to all. There is ton of work to be done! Other ministries comparatively better placed than Defense. Also, Defense has been handed from one person to another, so needs sharp focus that Amit Shah Ji can bring.

Finance has perhaps been the best managed ministry and with Shaktikanta Das as RBI Governor, has added horsepower!

Only my humble view.

Why does Su Swamy think that the economy is in ruins? Or is he just being chankyan to get the FM job?

I think he thinks he deserves that job and he has been doing this for a while now. Modi won't and shouldn't be giving him that post. He is a very clever turncoat, albeit a right of right guy - so useful to keep on our side

so-called "national protest" against EVM (A bit too late I think  )
EVM Virodhi Rashtriya Jan Andolan – a group comprising different organisations and people from all walks of life have organised a mass protest against EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines ) and demand for paper ballot system.

In their call for the protest, the ‘EVM Virodhi Rashtriya Jan Andolan’ say that EVMs have been manipulated which is evident on the website of the Election Commission (EC) where the “votes counted” do not match with “votes polled”, in all the 48 constituencies in Maharashtra and also match in 203 assembly constituencies of Madhya Pradesh also.

Many people from across the country have been posting on social media about the discrepancies in the votes in their constituencies. There have been cases of malfunctioning of EVMs and suspicious movements of thousands of EVMs, which were even found in hotel rooms all which go to say that EVMs have been tampered and the elections are not being held in a fair manner
http://twocircles.net/2019may29/431541.html
EVM Virodhi Rashtriya Jan Andolan? Seriously? :P

I am in the retail sector, and I can vouch that this sector is in a really bad shape, not seen in a decade. Money has completely stopped flowing and most of the retailers and their vendors are in terrible shape. Sales have dipped and consumers are are not opening their purse.

Real estate is another sector that has been kicked in it's gonads.

These two sectors together have a huge impact on the economy and that is being felt across.

I am pretty sure that some of the slack is getting picked up by the new age startups and it's showing up in the overall numbers for the economy. But it cannot solve the problem faced by the other part of the economy going through major pain.

Shripad Naik is the Minister of State in Defence assisting Kadi Ninda. This was the guy that claimed there’s proof that Yoga cures cancer.

I’m a bit shocked that Piyush Goyal wasn’t given Finance. Also, VKS wasn’t elevated to Minister of State independent charge, though he performed well in Exter Affairs. He’s now Minister of State in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

IMHO Amit Shah has shown mettle and among current generation leaders, no one else has shown grit and determination to bring about "Congress mukt Bharat" . I wish, in next five years, he defeats the BIF and he proves to be right full heir to legacy of our First Home Minister & the title of "Sardar".

Why are portfolio's of minsters are changed? Is there no benefit in continuity.

Perhaps, the ministers get bored of the same kind of work and request change. Also prolonged continuance in the same ministry leads to establishing networks of patronage.

Ramesh Pokhriyal gets HRD. Poor guy :) People will be on his back for the next 5 years asking for changes in text books.

Thanks. I did some background checks and here's what i can come up as justification.
Modi/Shah have realized that they have maxed out their political growth they can achieve with the current state of polity of india.
I assume their objective is to target anti-india or BIF to create more space for future growth of BJP.

I just hope - Shah retains direct/indirect control of BJP and Shah's value addition to overall political space is similar to what was as of Sardar patel.
I hope I am correct.

Former Teacher at RSS-affiliate School, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank Now Human Resource Development Minister
Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank, who has replaced Prakash Javdekar as HRD minister, had a short stint as the chief minister of Uttarakhand.
May 31, 2019

New Delhi: Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, who started his career as a teacher in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-affiliated Saraswati Shishu Mandir is the new Human Resource Development Minister of India.

Nishank came to limelight when he defeated five-time Congress MLA and education minister from Karnaprayag, Shivanand Nautiyal, to win the seat for the BJP in undivided Uttar Pradesh in 1990.

Nishank replaces Prakash Javdekar, who moves to Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

Nishank’s nomination comes in the wake of RSS's continued efforts for changes in curriculum and policies which could not be undertaken during Prime Minister Modi’s first five years in office. The sangh, especially its chief Mohan Bhagwat, has made no bones about introduction of the new Education Policy and reforms in higher education system.

For Defence Procurement, very bad. He is old school with zilch understanding of research or production or procurement and the Generals, Admirals, Air Marshals & bureaucrats will lead him up the garden path. OFB will continue and expand to be a rozgar yojana. Poor DRDO folks had it...

The Central Armed Police Forces made lots of irrelevant purchases like Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavor for top brasses. Firearms have been picked up from everywhere. Similarly exorbitant specialist vehicles were purchased from Renault when the equipment could have been fitted much cheaper on local chassis.

He is an honest man, but lacks the understanding, knowledge & experience in either defence operations or procurement.

He will have the old school itch of "satisfying" Russia by buying T-90s & Su-30's at the cost of expanding Arjun & Tejas manufacturing.

Kiran Rijju from Arunachal, though young, would have been much better. He understands operations, R&D and building a Mil Ind Complex.

Now that the Cabinet allocation is over ...

The velvet gloves (Kadi Ninda) is off and the Iron fist will become visible with Shah replacing Ninda Turtle in the Home ministry. I am expecting the Urban Naxal to howl in protest on this appointment but it seems they are too stunned at this moment. Remember the cases against him in Gujarat.

His appointment is bad news of all BIF forces. After getting all the pieces in the right position during the previous term the prep phase is over, by getting all the saboteurs out of the way at CBI, NIA, IB, etc. The action is about to begin and the most experienced senapati has been appointed to take it forward. Expect BIF forces to create huge roadblocks and disruptions but they will be overcome with a lot of effort.

His appointment is also bad news for political traitors. Anyone remembers how Shah was catapulted into the national politics? Now those forces that had him humiliated have their day of reckoning coming.

Plus, Mamta, C.Naidu, Jagan, etc need to be very very careful. With Shah at the helm anything is possible if they step out of line.

Be prepared for upheavals and fireworks in the days ahead.

I was hoping for some role for shivraj singh chauhan. He is also a good doer. I hear very positive stories about him from my friends in MP for electricity and roads.

Few thoughts/questions on the cabinet
1. Does CCS & NSA remain the same, apart from the exclusions and new comers? Looking specifically for AD.
2. Another thing I like about BJP as a party is that they rotate their leaders quite well to groom them for responsibilities. Now the role of BJP chief is open and the incumbent will get a chance to work closely with NaMo/AS. That helps in policy continuity and overall leadership. It doesnt remain anyone's fiefdom. I would be interested in seeing that.
3. How did Jayant Sinha got missed? Father or his felicitation of some lynching accused?
4. Sad to hear even sushma swaraj also not join the govt, given her health conditions. She really gave a human touch to the conduct of foreign ministry
5. Not very happy with even Dr Harshvardhan on Science and Tech too, coz the country needs to focus on multiple things, but I think that is being taken care of through Niti Ayog.
6. AS's appointment as HM is something that should send a chill down the spine of BIF.
