X posting from Pulwama Attack thread
Now this comes from our former 'Top Spy Master' VIkram Sood (VK). RAW reportedly had many 'mediocre' Spy Masters during Congress rule especially 2007 to 2014.But VK's period dates back to 2000-2003 worked (under the Atal Bihari VajpayeeJi's rule) with mentor-ship of the legend B.Raman one of the founders of R&AW,with a spymaster and the first chief of India's external intelligence agency RAW, RN Kao. Interestingly he echos the PM's line for retaliation. “It’s not a boxing match. You do a reaction like the PM said you do it at your convenience, at your own time and place of your choice. It doesn’t happen tomorrow or today.”

an article on the use of peer to peer software service YSMS in the Pulwama Attack by terrorists. do read in full
excerpts
Security forces and intelligence agencies in J&K suspect that Jaish-e-Muhammed handlers of the Pulwama bomber+ had been using a
peer-to-peer software service - YSMS - or a similar mobile application to correspond with him till December 2018, avoiding mobile phone
surveillance completely. Intelligence sources have accessed what they believe is a copy of YSMS messages exchanged between the JeM group after the Pulwama terror attack+ .
"Successful funeral of Mujahidin Jish Muhammad," read one of the messages. "Indian soldiers killed and dozens of vehicles destroyed in
frenzy attack," read another.
The YSMS uses an ultra high radio frequency model to send encrypted text messages. In essence, a radio set is attached to a cellular phone with no SIM card inside it. The radio set is a small transmitter with WiFi capability. It is the WiFi that is used to connect the mobile. The receiver should be in "line of sight" from sender's phone for proper communication. YSMS application has been available on the Dark Web since 2012 but terror outfits in Pakistan have now developed a new version which uses a frequency which has not been detected by any monitoring device since December.

The Pakistani advocate also quoted another article from India media, an article by Chandan Nandy published in The Quint. Nandy had alleged that Jadhav has two passports, one in his own name and another with the name Hussein Mubarak Patel, and this was presented as a proof that he was working for RAW in Pakistan.
All these articles were widely quoted by Pakistani media, as proofs that the claims of Pakistan are true.
This is not the first time comments published by Indian media was used against India in a court outside the country. During the hearing for Vijay Mallya’s extradition in London, Mallya’s lawyers had extensively used articles published against then CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana in trying to prove that the case against Mallya was politically motivated. The London court had rejected those arguments and ordered the extradition of Mallya to India.
How proud is @Raghav_Bahl @TheQuint , Karan Thapar, Praveen Swami feeling right now? Beloved Pakistan has quoted their articles to brand Kulbhushan Jadhav as a ‘RAW spy’ at ICJ .. Putting an Indian life in danger again.. Sleep well tonight guys.

After that, Qureshi quoted another article journalist written by Praveen Swamy in January 2018 for Frontline. In an article titled India’s secret war, Swamy had argued that “it is impossible for India to deny he is who he says he is”, and had claimed that Jadhav was indeed on an espionage mission in Pakistan.Pakistan quotes The Quint, Karan Thapar and Praveen Swami to brand Kulbhushan Jadhav as a ‘RAW spy’ at ICJ

The International Court of Justice is hearing a plea to release Kulbhushan Jadhav who has been lodged in a Pakistani jail on the charges of spying. Jadhav was awarded death penalty by a Pakistani court in 2017. The hearing started yesterday when India presented its case. Today advocate Khawar Qureshi started submission on behalf of Pakistan, contesting the arguments made by India yesterday.
And in a huge surprise, the Pakistani advocate used articles published in Indian media to make its case, to prove that Kulbhushan Jadhav was indeed a spy. The Pakistani side quoted an article written by Journalist Karan Thapar in The Indian Express in 2017, where he had questioned the stand on Ministry of External Affairs in regard to Jadhav.

Guys, coming on the heels of Naresh Goyal episode I want to tell you about an extremely intriguing incident that took place on the night of 28th May. It's regarding an Air Asia flight15774/774 from Delhi to Goa. Transponder no. IAD 774 as could be seen on flightradar24.com. I was tracking the flights in general for fun and watching them pass overhead in real time in Konkan region around 200km south of Mumbai. when I clicked on this flight when it passed overhead towards the north I was shocked to see its flight path. It had originated from Delhi but surprisingly it had come around without landing at Goa. So, I tracked this flight till the end. It flew smoothly without any diversions and landed at Delhi at around 1.10am. Had it indeed landed at Goa and proceeded back to Delhi immediately after a quick turn around it should have been shown as Goa-Delhi flight. instead it was still the other way round, very surprising and puzzling too. Yesterday, I scoured many news papers and channels to check the news on any technical glitch because of which this flight was not allowed to land in Goa and though Mumbai was the nearest big airport, without making an emergency landing there it passed overhead to Delhi. And also, for a news regarding national security issue because of which this flight was taken back to Delhi instead of allowing it to land at Goa without any luck.
Can gurus throw some light on what could have had happened in this case.
I have taken screenshots of the progression of this flight till it landed at Delhi. I would like to post, but need guidance to post those inline.
Regards.

Re: Intelligence & National Security Discussion - July 2018
This is a common phenomenon with flights that for whatever reason have to divert, return to the point of origin. There can be a fairly large number of reasons for this, depending on what transpired. Usually a technical issue will warrant the flight to return to a 'hub' where you have an engineering team available. Diverting to BOM is not a preferred option by most carriers. Next time look for the transponder squawk code. Single runway airports often run into problems and weather can play havoc too.RajD wrote:Guys, coming on the heels of Naresh Goyal episode I want to tell you about an extremely intriguing incident that took place on the night of 28th May. The recent sentencing of three top porky guys is intriguing considering one of them was ex DGMO, no question the agency to which they passed secrets was see-aye-yeah. Wondering what would they have shared to such a sentence :
1) the civil guy (Dr.)looks like must have been tied to Kahuta (based on this Phd thesis was a metallurgist), here is his thesis with university of Ohio. Looks like studying his higher studies was trapped by mass :
https://etd.ohiolink.edu/rws_etd/docume ... 243/inline
2) The General is very interesting character (has to do with OBL raid, as he was the DGMO at that time) :
Lieutenant General Javed Iqbal Awan is from Chakwal and son of a Major and his elder brother retired as a colonel.|Gen Javed Iqbal Awan started his education from Military College Sarai Alamgir Jhelum where he was a average to just pass class student.
He joined Pakistan Army and passed out with merit and joined 9 Battalion of Frontier Force Regiment.
He always held highest andn top most appointments due to his outstanding networking and links and remained as instructor In Pakistan Military Academy, Command n Staff College and then remained as 111 brigade commander as a Brigadier.
As a Major General ,He commanded infantry division at Bahawalpur, Infantry division at Jhelum and then remained as Director General Military Operations at GHQ.
As Lieutenant General he remained as Adjutant General Pakistan Army n then commanded corps at Bhawalpur. At the same time he remained as colonel Commandant of Frontier Force Regiment which is also an Honour.
Lt. GENERAL JAVID IQBAL AWAN recently got retired from Pakistan Army in May 2015.He was settled in Rawalpindi and got arrested
3)Retired Brigadier Raja Rizwan - No info available online looks like was also with SPD somehow

Aeronautical Development Agency’s email account hacked-The Hindu
https://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/ba ... 766909.eceThe official email account of the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) was recently hacked and data manipulated, allegedly by a private aerospace engineering company.
Rangarajan S., a senior executive with the ADA, filed a complaint with the cybercrime police of the Criminal Investigation Department on Tuesday. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under various sections of the Information Technology Act.
In his complaint, Mr. Rangarajan said the hackers not only accessed details of financial transactions, but also made changes in the TDS for 2017-18. In addition to this, the hackers also allegedly changed the password, email ID and mobile IDs, and updated the PAN details of the company they belonged to. The police said the fraud might have occurred between March and May this year and come to light recently during the verification of official accounts.
Confirming the account’s hacking, senior ADA officials said that though there has been a breach in the account, there is no security concern. “This is not a serious issue as the account was in the open domain. No data pertaining to the agency has been compromised,” an officer said.
The cybercrime police are trying to ascertain the motive behind the hacking.

The inside story of the Pakistan espionage ring
The case involving senior army officers came to light in October 2018 after Ali Rizwan, son of retired Brigadier Raja Rizwan, filed a habeas corpus petition in Islamabad High Court reporting that his father had gone missing on the evening of October 10 near a busy shopping centre of the city. Justice Aamer Farooq heard the petition and sought a report from the authorities.
This had forced Director General ISPR, Major General Asif Ghafoor, to admit while addressing a news conference in the last week of February this year that two senior officers were in military custody on charges of espionage and that the COAS had also ordered their Field General Court Martial. He also told media persons that the retired army officers were arrested in individual cases and there was no link between them.
Brig Rizwan is from Khanpur, Rahimyar Khan district, Punjab. His father was a junior commissioned officer (JCO, Engineers). He too had his early education from Hassan Abdal Cadet College, another popular nursery for army recruits.
He joined the 68 th PMA course at Kakul and was commissioned in the 10th Frontier Force Regiment. While in the army, he commanded a brigade in the Tribal Areas and, thereafter, held a prestigious appointment as Pakistan’s military attaché In Germany for three years, from 2009 to 2012. He retired from service in 2014. Peers within the Pakistan military speculate he may have been honey-trapped as he had the reputation of having a glad-eye. A video made by a Pakistani Pashtun website circulating on YouTube alleges Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) involvement. This seems unlikely. It is more probable he too may have been recruited by the Americans during his tenure there.

Operation X: The Untold Story of India's Covert Naval War in East Pakistan
Sheikh Mujibur Rehman in East Pakistan has just won an electoral mandate to become the prime minister of Pakistan. Accustomed to treating the eastern wing of the country as a colony, the ruling disposition in West Pakistan is not pleased, and launches a genocide against the residents of East Pakistan, flooding India with lakhs of refugees. With the violence in East Pakistan reaching a crescendo, the Indian government is faced with a difficult option: remain a mute spectator to the savagery on its eastern borders, or take action and go to war against its western neighbour. Thus was born Naval Commando Operation (X) - comprising Indian navy officers and divers, eight deserters from a Pakistani submarine and a ragtag bunch of Bengali youth fleeing the genocide - one of India's largest clandestine operations, meant to destabilize the West Pakistani efforts to bring East Pakistan to its knees. Revealed for the very first time, here is the explosive authentic account of the guerrilla operation that went for the maritime jugular of Pakistan, and facilitated the birth of Bangladesh.

The damage caused by such individuals must be brought out into the public domain.
Many of our "diplomats" in the gelf countries would have very similar backgrounds and sympathies.
Had the UPA continued to rule, this man could have been president, commander in chief of our armed forces, not to mention urban naxal in chief, embarassing India in international forums with his colored and compromised views and his special obligations to islamic countries like iran
Only in India can we see treacherous elements given top public office.

The Indian Army’s monitors along the Line of Control with Pakistan have fallen silent for over two months now, affecting intelligence operations, senior officials aware of the development said.
The monitors fell silent soon after Article 370 was effectively revoked in Jammu & Kashmir on August 5. “The terrorists and their handlers have changed the frequency [they communicate on] and we have not been able to crack the new one,” one official said on the condition of anonymity. “We have been trying to intercept commands being sent to the Valley by terror organisations based there [in Pakistan] but have not been successful yet,’’ said another official who asked not to be named.

planting the virus - closing the "air- gap"The Natanz plant was ‘air-gapped’, meaning it was not connected to the Internet. Its centrifuges were run by a software produced by German company Siemens. To infect the software, someone had to physically insert a USB flash drive containing the virus into the computers at Natanz. That was not an easy task, given that the facility was heavily guarded.
Sometime in 2004, the CIA and Mossad (US and Israeli intelligence agencies) requested their Dutch counterpart AVID to locate an Iranian who could be groomed for the job. AVID was able to find one from the expatriate Iranian community in Holland. He was an engineer and had previously been a contractor at Natanz. He was offered a substantial amount of money and resettlement in the West.
and AQ KhanThe Iranian ‘mole’ returned home in 2006 and set up a front company providing maintenance services for computers. The company was able to obtain a contract for maintenance work at Natanz, enabling the mole to gain access to the facility in 2007. He paid several visits to the plant during which he gathered information about the centrifuges, which was used to fine-tune the virus in the US. Its use was authorised by President Bush in 2007.
In 2007, the mole took Stuxnet in a USB flash drive and inserted it into the computers. That was his last visit to the facility. The ‘air-gap’ had been closed.
In the meantime, the designers of Stuxnet had been working to make it more potent. They produced a modified version which was injected into the computers in early 2010, with authorisation by President Obama, who was assured that it would not affect computers outside Iran. This time, they did not need a mole; they could do their work online. This version of Stuxnet was indeed more potent: it blew up around 1,000 of Natanz’s 5,000 centrifuges. The Iranians were shocked.
IMVHO this is critical for IndiaThere is also a geopolitical dimension to the story, involving the rogue activities of AQ Khan, the Pakistani national hero. Khan stole the blueprints of the centrifuges in the 1970s while working at URENCO, a company in Holland. Later, with the approval of the Pakistani establishment, he sold them to Iran and Libya. The Natanz centrifuges were based on the stolen blueprints. His activities came to light in 2004, when the US presented a dossier on him to General Musharraf, the then military dictator of Pakistan. Though Musharraf claimed Khan was acting on his own, very few believed him.
There is something else India needs to note. Pakistan gave the centrifuge blueprints to Iran even though it is Shia, while Pakistan is Sunni. It means that Pakistan would not mind Iran acquiring nuclear capability. That suggests their ties are close, despite occasional incidents.

Could be reading a bit more into it than neccecary. The Iranians will seek their tech from anywhere and the Pakis will do anything for hard cash.

They did hand over the designs to NoKo in exchange for Dingdong designs (albeit without a properly working guidance system).rkhanna wrote:Could be reading a bit more into it than neccecary. The Iranians will seek their tech from anywhere and the Pakis will do anything for hard cash.
Enriching(pardon the pun) Iran's nuke abilities would not have made KSA happy at all. So why the continued largesse? I think it would be reasonable to assume that KSA got access to same or even more information to keep them placated.
Wonder who else have the Bakis given it to.

As "cyber jehadis" of Pakistan's spy agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), exploit various social media platforms (SMPs) to foment trouble in Jammu & Kashmir and other parts of India, the government has identified over 500 URL (Uniform Resource Locator), and accounts on SMPs to be blocked. The ISI has also hired social media influencers in Middle East and Europe to generate trending hashtags on Twitter with an intent to malign India's image.
Hundreds of Facebook pages and Twitter accounts, generated by ISI's cyber group, have also been traced by Indian intelligence agencies. A list of such FB pages and Twitter accounts have been forwarded by the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Ministry of Electronic and Information Technology (MEITY). Reliable sources said that MEITY's cyber laws and e-security group is holding meetings with representatives from Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and Whatsapp to track and block URLs and groups active in an anti-Indian campaign and activities.

Gopal Kanda on a special flight to Delhi
This is just abhorrent. This gangster took a chartered flight from IAF base in Sirsa to Delhi so the BJP could make a Govt in Haryana. I don’t think Sirsa AFS operates as a civilian airport and not sure politics counts as an extenuating circumstance. Ack thoo! Before he took the flight from the Indian Air Force (IAF) station in Haryana, Mr Kanda told reporters that he would support the party that would work for the development of Sirsa, his home base, from where he has won.
Gopal Kanda resigned as a minister in then Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's cabinet after he was accused of abetting the suicide of an air hostess who worked for his aviation company in 2012.

statementThe affected unit of Indo-Russian Kudankulam plant has been shut
The official reason, though, is drop in steam production pressure
The attack has North Korean signatures but could be a ploy to mask the real identity of the attacker
Sources say another and more critical unit has also been hit
Nuclear Power Corporation India Limited (NPCIL) today owned up to a malware attack on its Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant.
“Identification of malware in NPCIL system is correct. The matter was conveyed by CERT-In when it was noticed by them on September 4, 2019. The investigation revealed that the infected PC belonged to a user who was connected in the internet network used for administrative purposes. This is isolated from the critical internal network,’’ said a statement by AK Nema, NPCIL Associate Director.
