Agra judge transferred for making 58-year-old cop to take off uniform in court

UP Police tweeted in solidarity with 58-year-old constable driver Ghure Lal appealing to society to respect those in uniform.

LUCKNOW (Uttar Pradesh): The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) of Agra was transferred to Mahoba in Bundelkhand on Saturday afternoon, a day after forcing a constable driver of a police van to take off his uniform and making him stand in undergarments in a packed courtroom for over half an hour.

The ACJM allegedly made the 58-year-old cop stand without his uniform as a punishment for failing to give pass to his car while he was on the way to the court on Friday noon. The incident reportedly took place near the juvenile court adjacent to village Siroli under Malpura police station area of Agra.

Taking cognizance of the incident, UP DGP expressed dismay and promised action.

The ACJM was transferred by an order issued by the Registrar General of High Court Judicature, Allahabad. He was sent to the vacant court of Mahoba District Legal Service Authority as Secretary (Full Time).

We thank our DGP OP Singh for standing by the honour of the lowest rung of the police force & for keeping the morale of force intact. https://t.co/GNSLmXBxqN

UP Police tweeted in solidarity with constable Ghure Lal appealing to society to respect those in uniform: “We stand by the dignity of each and every police personnel and appeal all the sections of society to respect the honour of uniformed forces."

The constable, who is at the fag end of his career after serving the police force for 38 years, wrote a letter to Agra SSP Babloo Kumar seeking voluntary retirement, citing trauma after the humiliating ordeal.

The judge who had ordered a @Uppolice Constable to disrobe in his court, has been given marching order by the Allahabad High Court. The humiliation heaped on the Constable by the judge has caused indignation in the force & @dgpup took it up with the @UPGovt @upcoprahul pic.twitter.com/CMe7b4xmSY

— Pramod Kumar Singh (@SinghPramod2784) July 27, 2019

Interacting with media, Babloo Kumar said: “Constable driver Ghure Lal has alleged that he was humiliated in court as the sitting judge forced him to take off his uniform including the beret, belt and khakee shirt, as punishment for not giving pass to his car. He was made to stand for half an hour in the court.”

DGP UP OP Singh has taken the issue of ordering a constable in uniform to disrobe in a court very seriously & taken it up at t appropriate level. We stand by t dignity of each & every Police Personnel & appeal to all t sections of society to respect the honour of uniformed forces

— UP POLICE (@Uppolice) July 27, 2019
District police sources further claimed that the constable driver was at the time ferrying two juvenile under trials along with three cops (Constable Alok, Manish and Rupesh) in a ‘Vajra’ police van to a juvenile court based in Malpura.

“The judge's car tried honking to move ahead of the police van but driver constable Ghure Lal could not do so due to traffic woes,” said a source. The police van reached the court first, followed by the judge’s car.

Soon after taking his seat in court, the judge reportedly summoned Ghure Lal and asked him to take off his uniform in the courtroom.

SSP Baloo Kumar said that he had forwarded the complaint of the constable against the ACJM to the district judge of Agra, Registrar General of High Court Allahabad and an administrative judge, requesting them to take appropriate action after a probe.

Despite repeated attempts, the ACJM could not be contacted.

A lot of the infrastructure projects in KAR is being done by one heavyweight AP politco owned company.

Is it any reason for us to pay toll to get to the Bangalore Airport.

It may be the only tolled airport in the country.

Karnataka loss a blow for congress in AP, Telangana

Karnataka loss a blow for congress in AP, Telangana

S. Rama Krishna
July 27, 2019,

‘Now the Congress has no funding source in the entire South’.

Hyderabad: The change of guard in Karnataka this week is going to hit the prospects of Congress in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the coming days. The Congress-Janata Dal Secular government led by H.D. Kumaraswamy in this major southern state used be a sheet anchor for the grand old party which is struggling to stage a comeback in the region, but now such chances are dimmed.

Many may wonder about how a party staying in power in a state would affect its prospects in a neighbouring state, but the operations of national parties are fashioned in such a manner that the states where they are in power would look after the funding needs of units in states where they are in opposition.

It is an open secret that Congress, which has been in power in Karnataka for six years—five of it on its own and one as a coalition partner—has been looking after the organizational needs of its units in Andhra and Telangana. Though Kumaraswamy was the Chief Minister, it was Congress which called the shots in major decisions like awarding of contracts and granting permissions for major infrastructure projects in Karnataka.

During Telangana’s Assembly elections last December, several Karnataka ministers, including powerful D.K. Shivakumar, camped in Hyderabad and coordinated the party affairs. Shivakumar, who held plum portfolios of irrigation and medical education, had virtually called the shots for the election funding of many candidates, sources said. When some surveys of Congress suggested a hung Assembly in Telangana, Shivakumar rushed here again and began negotiations with possible winners from other parties to form government led by his party. However, that didn’t happen as TRS won 88 out of the 119 Assembly seats then. All Telangana Congress leaders made a beeline to a star hotel where Shivakumar camped at the time.

It was not uncommon in Congress that AICC functionaries vie with each other to get in-charge roles for the states where its party is in power. Posts like AICC general secretary and secretary may appear light-weight to many, but the persons who bag them and are made in-charges of states where the party is in power enjoy clout equal to a minister, explained sources in the party.

An ex-MP and AICC secretary in charge of Karnataka had managed to secure Assembly tickets for many of his candidates in the Telangana Assembly elections because of his perceived ability to get election funds from the neighbouring state. Interestingly, he used to sit in Bangalore and managed the election campaign in Telangana on telephone. He, however, lost the parliament elections later.

Same is the case with Andhra where Congress leaders used to get funds, although in small amounts, from Karnataka, through lobbying for industrialists and businessmen. In fact, most of the power, irrigation and infra projects in Karnataka were executed by contractors from Andhra. These Andhra Congress leaders used to lobby for clearance of their pending bills from Karnataka government, in lieu of a favour.

Some Congress seniors in Hyderabad had admitted that the fall of the Congress-JDS regime in Karnataka was a major blow to their party in Telangana. “Now the BJP will not allow a free-run to the contractors close to us and that will affect our financial prospects,” said a Congress MLC who currently owns some power projects in Karnataka. Now, the Congress has no funding source in the entire South. Compared to Telangana, the interests of Congress in Andhra Pradesh are minimal as the party is on a weak wicket there. Still, the party leaders who are supposed to run the state unit usually depended for their financial needs till now on the Karnataka government. Now, it will be a problem for them to manage even day- to-day affairs of the party offices which require around Rs 2 lakh per month.

The fall of the Congress-JDS government is also a loss to Congress in Maharashtra where Assembly elections are due soon, but the availability of its government in Chhattisgarh or two other nearby states—Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan—might solve the problem, sources explained.

CBI frames charges against Raqibul Hassan for hiding his religion and torturing shooter Tara Shahdeo
https://www.opindia.com/2019/07/cbi-fra ... a-shahdeo/
Tara had married another shooting professional named Ranjeet Kumar Kohli on 7 July 2014 in Ranchi. Ranjeet reportedly had been doing well professionally and was well connected with high profile people. Tara had met Ranjeet the same year-earlier during shooting practice. He started courting her and later proposed to her, to which she agreed.

Both were married as per Hindu rituals but Tara says that just a day after the wedding, she came to know that Ranjeet was not a Hindu. His real name was Raqibul Hasan Khan and he was a Muslim. Due to this reason, this incident was reported as a possible case of ‘Love Jihad’ back in 2014.
The whole RW Twitter has been going nuts since May on Modi's vishwas.

But I have seen strong action taking place in TN, then Ajaz Khan of Bollywood has been given bamboo treatment. Moron since then changed his tune.
Kashmir is being cleaned up.

There is a quiet action and accountability being taken while they are talking scholarships which I believe is a right strategy. When RW people whine, lets push the narrative.

Wahhabi lobby in the United States set up meeting between Imran Khan and Donald Trump, report suggests

The report states that such Wahhabi-influenced advice may have been behind President Trump’s sudden show of eagerness to get involved personally in the Kashmir issue, a move that is diplomatic trap in the context of the current US desire for a close security and defence partnership with India.

OPINDIA STAFF
JULY 28, 2019

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent trip to the United States of America had made headlines for various reasons. From a humiliating welcome meted out to Imran Khan to a gaffe made by US President Donald Trump on Kashmir, the US-Pakistan bilateral meet had kept most of the enthusiasts entertained last week.

However, an interesting revelation has been made by the Sunday Guardian report on how Wahhabi lobby in the US played laid the trap to Donald Trump by fixing a meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Donald Trump in White House on July 23.

According to the report, US President Donald Trump decided to meet Imran Khan despite contrary advice from few realists and analysts within the Trump administration such as the National Security Council (NSC), the State Department and analysts in the US Government (USG). The reports suggested that the meeting took place as a consequence of an intense lobbying effort by the well-funded Wahhabi network in Washington. The Wahhabi network reportedly roped in Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina to persuade President Trump to agree to such a meeting even though there was no substantive assistance by Pakistan in reining in the Taliban.

The meeting came into fruition despite Pakistan’s active support to Islamic terror groups such as Taliban, which once sheltered Osama bin Laden and presently hosts several fighters of ISIS and Al Qaeda. The influence of these terror groups has risen since the Trump administration began to have a close relationship with GHQ Rawalpindi in mid-2018 to seek assistance from the Pakistan army for ensuring a safe withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.

The money-power behind the Lobby

The Wahhabi lobby in Washington, which remains among the most influential in the city is funded by Wahhabists in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar. The report says Senator Graham has been close to the Wahhabi lobby in Washington for decades now. He had even condemned Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman of Saudi Arabia for seeking to roll back Wahhabism rather than encourage it. Because of its money power, the Wahhabi lobby has been cordial in terms with many others close to President Trump, such as Thomas J. Barack, who has several contacts in the Middle East.

Initially, President Trump had declined to meet Imran Khan. However, the Wahhabi network in the United States was successful in bypassing usual bureaucratic channels within the government to ensure a meeting between President Trump and Prime Minister Khan that has had the effect of angering two US allies, Afghanistan and India. The Islamist network had expected that the Prime Minister of Pakistan will be able to establish a close personal relationship with Trump that could then be leveraged to get financial and other advantages for the Pakistan military.

Despite Pakistani establishing failing to honour its commitments to contain terror groups within its soil, the Wahhabi lobby broke through into the White House protocol to try and get Trump’s endorsement for an old formula of making India give concessions to Pakistan in exchange for Pakistan making concessions to the US. The Wahhabi lobby in Washington has comprehensive information about Trump officials and makes sure that there is an active link maintained between the officials and the lobby.

The Wahhabi International network builds up relationships with the youthful and unwary agency staffers who are newly recruited into foreign diplomatic missions. Then they ensure that such staffers are made familiar with and hopefully appreciative of the thinking of the Wahhabi lobby. Over the past nine months, because President Trump has revealed several times his impatience to “get out of Afghanistan”, such staffers have been turning to the four-decade-long GHQ strategy of trying to make the US put pressure on India to make concessions to Pakistan on Kashmir. The report states that such Wahhabi-influenced advice may have been behind President Trump’s sudden show of eagerness to get involved personally in the Kashmir issue, a move that is diplomatic trap in the context of the current US desire for a close security and defence partnership with India. As regards to Afghanistan, assisting the Taliban to take power will have consequences that destroy the little chances that exist now for stable Afghanistan to emerge from the wreckage caused by the actions of Pakistan and the flawed US responses to them.

Efforts to link Afghanistan with Kashmir

The recent gaffe made by Donald Trump ensured that his visit to India in 2019 is unlikely. It will take months to repair the damage before being forgotten by the Indian public. The report suggests that the senior officials in Washington are privately unhappy that President Trump offered himself publicly as a mediator between India and Pakistan on Kashmir after acting on the influence of the Wahhabi lobby and its backers such as Senator Graham. While refusing to go on record, and speaking only on “deep background”, key policymakers warn that a small cabal still exists of pro-Pakistan elements within the US Government (USG) which includes US Ambassador to Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, who has been suggesting to the White House that ‘the key to Pakistan’s sincere cooperation with the US in Afghanistan is through India being made to make concessions on Kashmir”.

Reportedly, A pro-Pakistan military lobbying network has been active within Washington since the 1970s promoting the interests of the Pakistan military. Even in the times of Barack Obama in 2009, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had hand-picked Richard Holbrooke as an envoy, who had an extensive relationship with Pakistan military and meddled in matters relating to the state through his many high-level contacts in the Lutyens Zone.

The effort to link Kashmir with the situation in Afghanistan has continued to the present, especially within the National Security Council and the State Department both of which still contain voices echoing the GHQ argument in favour of a robust US role in ensuring that India make concessions on Kashmir that would put at risk our country’s interests and security.

Senior officials at the US government believe that Donald Trump was made to fall into the trap laid for him by the Wahhabi lobby. However, senior officials say that the US President has “a very shrewd mind”, and hence that he “rapidly reversed course once it was made clear that the Wahhabi lobby was promoting policies that would damage the long-term US interest in a close and collaborative relationship with India”.

In the recent past, pro-GHQ elements within the Trump administration have been lobbying officials in Delhi to bring the All Parties Hurriyat Conference back into the core of Indian policymaking in Kashmir. Reports suggest that the US officials say that it is the pro-Pakistan cabal within US government that had been lobbying President Trump to insert himself in the Kashmir issue on the side of Pakistan, “so that the Pakistan army will begin assisting and stop sabotaging US efforts at dis-engaging from Afghanistan”, a formula tried several times in the past by previous US Presidents without any success in stopping the sabotage of US objectives and boosting of terrorism by the Pakistan military.

‘U-Turn by Donald Trump ’

The Sunday Guardian reports that some officials were surprised to see Trump following the likes of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in wanting to force India to make concessions in Kashmir to Pakistan in exchange for the unrealistic hope of GHQ giving genuine concessions to the US side against the very terror networks it protects.

The reports say that Trump has now “fully understood” that he walked into the trap set up by the pro-GHQ cabal in the US government. Following his realisation, Trump has kept silent even via tweets on the Kashmir issue ever since the meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan. As the United States is looking forward for an India-US security alliance, pressure on India to make concessions to GHQ on Kashmir would kill the prospect of any such security alliance, something that the pro-GHQ cabal in USG is aware off.

The Wahhabi lobby including strategic experts in China and Russia are also expecting such an alliance would collapse following India’s response to Trump’s gaffe. Those eager for such an outcome are disappointed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not fall into the trap laid for him by Opposition politicians in Parliament. They demanded that Modi condemn Trump’s remarks directly, something that would have damaged the existing warm relationship between President Trump and PM Modi to the detriment of US and Indian interests.

The report suggests that the statesmanship showed by Prime Minister Modi was followed by President Trump reciprocating with quietly dropping any talk of mediation between India and Pakistan.

However, it is just the beginning as the cash-rich Wahhabi lobby in Washington will continue in its mission of promoting the aims of the Pakistan military, the only armed forces in the world that has “jihad” as its official motto, which will be a detriment to moderate and democratic forces of the world.

I don't subscribe to what the lifafa journo is pushing but it's a good enough read just for the background that preceded certain events. He carefully does not tell us what's in it for us to cede ground to the pakis on Siachen, Sir Creek and Wullar Barrage and nor, it appears, has he given it any thought with regards to the security fallout and the considered opinion of major stakeholders whose lives are actually at risk in case anything were to go pearshaped.

The article is from the notorious commie/naxal daily from madras so a please take with a wagon load of salt.

I was unable to find "Bruce Riedel, “American Diplomacy and the 1999 Kargil Summit at Blair House,” Policy Paper Series (Center for the Advanced Study of India, University of Pennsylvania, 2002)".

If anyone has access to this, please post because it may be worth reading for the ameriki version of events.

It’s time for India and Pakistan to walk the talk
It’s time for India and Pakistan to walk the talk

V. Sudarshan JULY 29, 2019

Given the various breaches, the Simla Agreement could do with a makeover

The Simla Agreement may be somewhat overrated. It could even be dead though we keep referring to it as a guiding light and take shelter behind it. Signed on July 2, 1972, by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Pakistan President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the Agreement has been observed mainly in its breach. It commits the two countries to “put an end to the conflict and confrontation that have hitherto marred their relations and work for the promotion of a friendly and harmonious relationship and the establishment of durable peace in the sub-continent”. Pending “the final settlement of any of the problems between the two countries”, it stipulates that “neither side shall unilaterally alter the situation and both shall prevent the organization, assistance or encouragement of any acts detrimental to the maintenance of peaceful and harmonious relations”. This is followed by a list of admirable, if ineffectual, exhortations. If these had been implemented effectively by New Delhi and Islamabad, Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar could well have been tourists in India rather than terrorists. Given the various breaches, the Simla Agreement could do with a makeover.

It took more than 10 years after Simla to group the subjects that India and Pakistan would sporadically talk about, and even then the two countries have been going around in circles. It is reasonable to assume that nowadays Pakistan talks more about India and Kashmir to the U.S. than to India. Terrorism was one of the subjects that the two nations emphasised they would bilaterally discuss, but the 2011 Mumbai blasts shattered that premise. Since then India has been talking about Pakistani terrorism not so much with Pakistan as with any country willing to listen. This is probably why U.S President Donald Trump revealed at the Oval Office on July 22 that he and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan would be “talking about India”. “I think maybe if we can help intercede and do whatever we have to do,” he said. “But I think it’s something that can be brought back together.”

Clinton’s role during Kargil

President Trump may have been overstating it, but when the Simla Agreement was violated in Kargil, it was an American President who helped push the Pakistani troops back into Pakistan. As the Kargil War began to get bigger, a worried President Bill Clinton, who called the region “the most dangerous place in the world”, reached out to both Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, urging Mr. Sharif to pull back from the Line of Control (LoC) and Vajpayee not to widen the war front.

On July 2, 1999, the 27th anniversary of the Simla Agreement, when the Indian Army launched a three-pronged attack in Kargil, Mr. Sharif called up Mr. Clinton. He wanted the Americans to intervene. To make it happen, he was even ready to fly to Washington with his family in case he became a Prime Minister in exile. Two American diplomats in the Clinton administration, Bruce Riedel and Strobe Talbott, detail the developments in fascinating detail. They write that the Americans told Mr. Sharif not to come unless he was willing to agree to an unconditional withdrawal. Mr. Sharif told the Americans that he was coming anyway. President Clinton, who had been briefing Vajpayee every little step of the way, called him. Vajpayee was by then a sceptic of peace. He had made a high-risk bus trip to Lahore and the Pakistanis had rewarded him by violating the Simla Agreement in Kargil to seek to alter the LoC. Vajpayee did not tell Mr. Clinton that this was a bilateral affair and he should stay out of it. Instead, he warned the President that Mr. Sharif would take him on a merry ride, and he was afraid that Mr. Clinton would get co-opted. Mr. Riedel, who was present at all the meetings, writes in “American Diplomacy and the 1999 Kargil Summit at Blair House”: “Sharif handed the President a document which he said was a non-paper provided to him early in the crisis by Vajpayee in which the two would agree to restore the sanctity of the LoC (a formula for Pakistani withdrawal) and resume the Lahore process. Sharif said at first India had agreed to this non-paper but then changed its mind”.

Mr. Sharif wanted a withdrawal in return for a time-specific resolution of the Kashmir issue. President Clinton exploded saying he wouldn’t be blackmailed. The meeting broke to take stock of the matter. During the break, President Clinton called a worried Vajpayee to brief him again. “What do you want me to say,” Vajpayee asked when informed of what had gone on. President Clinton responded that he was holding firm. When they met again, Mr. Clinton told Mr. Sharif that if Pakistan didn’t withdraw, he would issue a statement naming Pakistan as a sponsor of terrorism as it had already readied nuclear missiles. Mr. Sharif said he feared for his life, but he reluctantly agreed to pull back troops. President Clinton called Vajpayee to give him the news. “That guy’s from Missouri big-time,” he said later. “He wants to see those boys get off that mountain before he’s going to believe any of this” (Engaging India, Strobe Talbott). The U.S. helped boot out the Pakistanis from Kargil for India.

Trump’s hint

Was what President Clinton did mediation? Or was it intervention? Or meddling? Or was this all a shining example of bilateralism envisaged in the Simla Agreement? President Trump gave India a preview on February 28, before Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was freed by Pakistan, of what was coming when he said: “We have some reasonably decent news. I think hopefully that’s going to be coming to an end. It’s been going on for a long time, decades and decades. There’s a lot of dislike, unfortunately. So we’ve been in the middle trying to help them both out, see if we can get some organization and some peace, and I think probably that’s going to be happening.” Was that mediation or the Simla Agreement at work? Nobody pointed out to President Trump that only the Ministry of External Affairs or the Pakistani Foreign Office or the Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations were allowed to make such announcements.

We have to recognise that the world has changed since the Simla Agreement was signed. After the 1971 war, India returned land taken in battle on the western border, to create lasting peace. The LoC is now more firmly established than ever before. There is no talk any more of United Nations resolutions. Most of the subjects in the ‘composite dialogue format’ like Siachen, Sir Creek and Wullar Barrage have been discussed threadbare. Some of them have been ready for political signatures for years. If the way forward is bilateral, then surely it is time to prove it?

Another journo with some more background info.

maybe we need a list of books that corroborate wholly or partially some the background discussions that have taken place over cashmere over the past seven or eight decades, especially the british and US discussions that preceded the partition of India and the considerably vital residual britshit and US interests in the gulf that required the creation of an amoral, amenable and transactional rentier state which would faithfully and for long serve such residual interests to protect their military, strategic and commercial preoccupations and pursuits and help contain their fear of Russian expansion.

Why does India say no to Kashmir mediation?

Why does India say no to Kashmir mediation?

Suhasini Haidar, JULY 28, 2019.

What are the historical reasons why third party mediation is avoided by the government? Will the status quo on India’s Kashmir policy remain?

The story so far: On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sought mediation in Kashmir when they met during the G-20 summit in Osaka. In Parliament, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar categorically said that Mr. Modi did not request Mr. Trump to “mediate or arbitrate” on the Kashmir issue. He said India remains committed to discussing all issues with Pakistan bilaterally.

What is the backstory on the U.S. offer of mediation?

In 1993, the new administration of U.S. President Bill Clinton decided to wade into the Kashmir issue, indicating repeatedly that it wished to mediate between India and Pakistan. At the U.N. General Assembly in September, Mr. Clinton referred to resolving “civil wars from Angola to the Caucasus to Kashmir,” and a month later, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Robin Raphel questioned the validity of Kashmir’s ‘Instrument of Accession’ during a press briefing. At a recent event, the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Civil Aviation (and Minister of State, Commerce and Industry), Hardeep Puri, recounted how India issued a strong protest. Mr. Puri was then the Joint Secretary (Americas), and made the call to an official in Washington with a carefully but strongly worded message cleared by Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao. Mr. Puri said, “We read the riot act to the U.S. administration that time, and succeeded remarkably in drawing a red line on the issue [of mediation].”

In fact, until Mr. Trump dropped a bombshell during his joint press appearance with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday, where he claimed that Mr. Modi had asked him to “mediate or arbitrate” on Kashmir, no U.S. leader has publicly crossed that line in 25 years. Responding to a swift and angry denial from the Ministry of External Affairs, the U.S. State Department seemed to backtrack from the allegation by saying that Kashmir remains a “bilateral issue”, but maintained that the U.S. “stands ready to assist” any India-Pakistan talks.

Why does India refrain from taking help?

India’s firm position against mediation on Kashmir or any other issue stems from several reasons, most notably a historical suspicion, since the 1950s and 1960s, as mediated talks by the United Nations and World Bank, the United States, the United Kingdom and Russia have been unsuccessful in resolving the issues between India and Pakistan. At best, the attempts have worked for diffusing tensions, or calling off hostilities at the Line of Control and the International Border, but not in terms of their rival claims over Jammu and Kashmir. Another reason is that India sees itself as a regional leader, and does not require any assistance in sorting out its issues with other regional countries. In addition, the widespread belief is that mediation favours the weaker party by levelling the playing field, and with its stronger conventional and non-conventional military prowess, India has seen no significant gain from bringing a third-party into its 70-year-old conflict with Pakistan.

When did the UN try to mediate?

The early attempts at mediation by the UN were made after India took its complaint against Pakistan’s forced occupation of parts of Kashmir (PoK) to the UN Security Council on January 1, 1948. The UN then set up the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP) which proposed mediating a resolution along a three-point action plan: Pakistani demilitarisation of the Kashmir region, followed by Indian reduction in military presence, and a proposed final resolution by an impartial U.N. administered plebiscite to “determine the wishes of the Kashmiri people”. The deal never got off the ground as Pakistan never agreed to demilitarise, and India under Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru made it clear that a plebiscite would never be accepted. Where the UNCIP was successful was in mediating a ceasefire in 1949, and negotiating the geographical location of the cease-fire line which would be monitored by the United Nations Military Observer Group In India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP). Individual U.N. representatives continued to visit both sides from 1949 to 1953 but failed to improve the atmosphere for a resolution, or to convince either side to demilitarise the two sides of the LoC. The first United Nations Representative for India and Pakistan (UNRIP) appointed to mediate the dispute was Sir Owen Dixon, an Australian jurist, who was followed by Frank Graham, an American diplomat, who gave up after his proposal was rejected by New Delhi and Karachi (then the capital of Pakistan) in April, 1953. The only exceptions to this dismal record were the 1960 World Bank guaranteed Indus Water Treaty, and a territorial agreement on the Rann of Kutch, mediated successfully by the British government in 1965. Soviet Premier Kosygin also moderated between Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and Pakistani President Ayub Khan to broker the 1965 Tashkent peace agreement, but the treaty has always been marked by suspicion and doubts, tainted by Shastri’s sudden death at Tashkent.

What about the U.S.?

A particularly bitter episode for India came from mediation attempts by the U.S. and the U.K. after the 1962 Sino-Indian war. The U.S. had provided India with planes and military hardware worth about $60 million during the war, and the price, said American officials, was that India should agree to mediated talks with Pakistan on Kashmir.

Says Ashoka University Professor Rudra Chaudhuri (author of Forged in Crisis: India and the United States since 1947, and also the director of Carnegie India), “The mediation was accepted because Nehru was in shock after the defeat to China, and the U.S. made it clear that any further military assistance was contingent on India’s cooperation on Kashmir talks.”

On November 21, 1962, the day the war ended, a team of 24 American negotiators headed to India, led by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Averell Harriman. They worked, along with U.S. Ambassador John Kenneth Galbraith and British High Commissioner Paul Gore-Booth to bring India to the table for six rounds of talks between Foreign Minister Swaran Singh and Pakistan Foreign Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Eventually, however as India regained its confidence, the talks floundered, and ended in 1963 after Nehru made it clear that India would never give up the Kashmir Valley.

Will India remain opposed to mediation?

After winning the war with Pakistan that saw the creation of Bangladesh, India, in 1972, negotiated the Simla Agreement, which did away with any idea of future mediation between the two countries. According to the Agreement signed on July 2, 1972 by Indira Gandhi and by then President Bhutto, the two countries “resolved to settle their differences by peaceful means through bilateral negotiations or by any other peaceful means mutually agreed upon between them”.

In February 1999, the Lahore declaration signed by Nawaz Sharif and Atal Behari Vajpayee also affirmed the bilateral nature of issues and their resolution. Thus, even when Mr. Trump spoke this week, India’s response, in Parliament, was to invoke the Shimla Agreement and the Lahore Declaration saying that they “provide the basis to resolve all issues between India and Pakistan bilaterally”. These bilateral efforts are at an end at present, and little has moved since the last negotiations on Kashmir in 2003-2008, when Indian and Pakistani negotiators discussed the four-step formula.

India has maintained its opposition to third-party mediation, however, and despite offers from several leaders including South African President Nelson Mandela, UN Chief António Guterres, and more recently, the Norwegian Prime Minister, Erna Solberg, has said, “thanks, but no thanks”.

Chetak Thanks for posting all those articles. I will commen on the two that dont name names.
The ACJM is not named but the constable, the SP, DIG all are named. Shows the fear of the judge. I think the judge is unfit to be holding the post and hope he is removed. This is second case of judicial overreach. The other being the girl made to distribute 'holy' koran. In both case the judge is merely transferred. Need to be dismissed to show the public judiciary is not Kaziciary.
Second look at the report on fallout of Karnataka on the Southern states. Again only DK ShivaKumar is named meaning he has been de-fanged. The others in AP and TG even though the Congress is in doldrums are not named!

Let me assure you some of our members noted money in suitcase being delivered much prior to 2019 elections in UP!!! Karnataka was a money till for Congress party. All because 3500 NOTAards did not vote. And for their petulance they subjected Karnataka to this mafia rule for a year. Some are BRF members!!! And the blood of the RSS workers murdered after CO-JA govt took power is not them only.

Will comment later on the Kashmir story.
Hindu has gone full retard.
Its neither Hindu nor national

Suhasini Haider article dies with the choice of words in framing the question: "why does India refrain from taking help?"

Forcing the assumptions:(1) that what is being offered is "help", (2) help is needed (3) India is somehow perverse in not taking help.

This is how words are routinely weaponized against India.

They should define that "help" first before asking anything

For those who think FCRA ban has done anything, please look at this video, the amount of money rabid EJs getting has been steady since 2014 if not increased. Here, Maridhas talks about only Chennai based EJ orgs that have been receiving crores of rupees every year. From the video, there are 762 FCRA NGOs in Chennai and 60% of which are directly related to X orgs. All these NGOs received Rs 1000 crores. And we are talking just about one city Chennai. Overall, they've managed to build 8000 to 12000 brayer halls in TN. Extrapolate that to entire India, no wonder there are more X-es than temples across India and no wonder these guys are getting aggressive especially in TN and AP, we can assume they have reached critical mass. In 2014, what was required was a blanket ban to any orgs receiving money from religious orgs. Wonder how things are in MH considering the first lady of the state has lunches with such orgs in foreign land.

Even now we are worried for BJP about upcoming elections, when things under so called hindu sarkar changed zilch on ground.

VG Siddhartha, founder of Cafe Coffee Day and son in law of SM Krishna goes missing. He wrote a letter to his employees before going missing. He seems to be in some financial troubles. He is/was on the billionaires list IIRC.

Everybody's skeletons are coming out once the free money stopped. He just sold his stake in MindTree for 3,000 crore in March this year. If that was not enough, how big a hole is he in?

The amount of funds that came in till 2014 plus property purchased was humongous, CSI is the richest religious institution in India with estimated wealth of 200k crore, the number of education institutions etc are enough to generate money for operations, FCRA helps in getting overwhelming amount of money. But without FCRA at sometime of time operations will be affected.Plus in TN 30-40% of Industries are owned by DMK families. The system is not easy to beat. See the video 724 crores received between 2006-14, some of those would have been invested and be much more valuable today. The plan started before independence, take for eg Chennai, in a small area from 1920's British Government gave free land to Loyola college, Stella Maris, Good SHepard, Don Bosco, ST beeds and set up schools/colleges. Giving control of education to one community.

In a democratic set up it will take time and sustained will, no point just blaming BJP but these guys have a period of time are well entrenched in TN. You have to live with it. A Level playign field will take time.

It takes a strong leadership to put foot on throat. In just 8 years or so, YSR changed demography of AP. In same period, UPA with a minority congress govt weakened yindics, from missionary visa to RTE, how many anti yindu policies was brought. Any individual with a strand of indicness was removed. Can you tell a single practicing indic in top leadership during UPA? A new law should be brought in that checks FCRA inflow towards conversion period. Without money, these can't do anything. With numbers in RS, have a faint hope something will be done.

>> you have to live with it? I sincerely hope govt is not thinking in those terms. In few decades time, they won't let you to live with it even if you want to. If nothing is done, from the looks of it, NI and SI will be divided between two desert cults.

You are correct in a way about them being well entrenched, If you are from or living in TN, you'd know TN is getting dangerous, with a dangerous mix of EJs, Jihadis and commies with the support of DMK gullible yindoos are buying into whatever propaganda these guys are peddling. There are many people and orgs that are putting up a fight, but are far too weak compared to the other side.

It is obvious that this was a long term plan. There was a systematic to ensure TN is made hindu-free. Take alook at Velankanni Temple. They managed to turn a ancient hindu temple into a chruch. dravidian theory is a perfect example of trying to create boundaries where none exist. As you mentioned there is no major non-christian college inside the city. All of old ones are owned by church. having said all these things i believe that TN is gone beyond redemption. I believe EJs has managed to convert more than 30% population. ones who have not converted have been dhimmified. It is very visible when traveling in Chennai. they have momentum and hindus are more fragmented as caste and creed than in the past.

On CCD: Siddhartha's share of the initial money was probably Cong money laundering (one reason they got them to diversify into unrelated areas). There was also a danger of NPA for their huge debt, but that, I believe was paid off after the IPO and mindtree sale, so both these are probably not relevant now.

Private equity investors typically have a clause that the promoter should guarantee them a return on their `equity' through a buy-back, if other
avenues to sell do not materialise. Thus while the investment of the PE fund is listed as equity to comply with the letter of the law, it is in reality
debt and it is possible that the PE firm was acting as a money in trying to force Siddhartha to pay up.

A default in a contractual liability should only result in a civil action in a court of law. That could have been handled unless there were other collaterals of the kind that he could not afford to risk in a court battle? Hmm~ I wonder.

'Tipu Sultan was a tyrant who massacred Hindus': Tejasvi Surya hails BJP govt scrapping 'Tipu Jayanti' celebrations
BJP government in Karnataka hits the ground running banning 'Tipu Jayanti'

DNA Web Team Jul 30, 2019, 04:00 PM IST
The BJP government in Karnataka on Tuesday cancelled the annual birth anniversary celebrations of the controversial 18th century ruler of the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom, Tipu Sultan, being organised since 2015.
The new Yediyurappa government's move through an order comes within three days after it came to power and a day after it won the confidence motion in the state assembly.

The Siddaramaiah led Congress government had started the celebration of Tipu Jayanti as an annual affair on November 10 since 2015 and it was continued by the Congress-JD(S) coalition government headed by H D Kumaraswamy last year despite opposition from BJP and others.

Hailing the decision, BJP's young turk MP Tejasvi Surya said, "

Triple Talaq Bill passed
Members of the BSP, TRS, TDP are currently missing from Rajya Sabha during the voting process for the triple talaq bill. AIADMK and JD(U) had also staged walkouts earlier.
So this is the Rajya Sabha strategy.

Also, note ...
On Opposition parties questioning the jail term in the case of triple talaq, Prasad justified the move by citing the jail terms in anti-dowry law and for Hindu men marrying second time.
I am hearing this first time from GOI perhaps because I don't follow the news. I always thought this should have been pointed out much before.

No its tactics.
Strategy is big plan to achieve an objective or goal.
Tactics is how its implemented.

3T criminalization is part of gender equity.
Its the first major victory on Islam social norms since 1192.
YAN becoming UP CM is first political victory.
1971 liberation of Bangladesh after defeat of Pakistan is the first major military victory.

That's great achievement. Sometime back, getting any bills passed in Rajya Sabha was impossible. Not anymore. How about RTE? That is a constitutional amendment? Would that require 2/3rd majority in LS or RS? (I don't think Congoons ever had 2/3rd numbers to pass it).

Information is intermittent but not comprehensive yet, thought hopefully the "charging points" or ANY distribution points won't be mobbed by fans of cheap/freebies. Hopefully govt understand this for better independent future and set strict rules for gigafactories and such clearly.

One request, and I am sending this request on Twitter to people who matter.

Liberal, intellectual are good words with noble cause. Indians who we call 'liberals' are no where near what a genuine liberal should be. Same with 'intellectuals'. They are outright Hinduphobes and worst islamists and separatists. And they should be called such. Please on this forum too lets not give them these good titles. They should be named and shamed as Hinduphobes which they really are. Thanks.

After some efforts by many now I see words Hinduphobes, Hinduphobic are widely used on Twitter instead of liberal.

If a rascal is called liberal/intellectual and if that sticks with him/her then that becomes his/her social title and that person can proudly flaunt it. But start calling them Hinduphobes and see how those worms react.
