Fridin Aug. 23 is over. Call for massive protest by terrorists, touted by Gaardian-Pakis from Islamic-administered Londonistan, appears to have fallen flat. (not giving url, I am not contributing to spreading rumors from terrorists).

DAY 18 over. Situation NAAAAAAAR0mal.

Actually not normal: "Normal" in Srinagar is flying stones and stabbings and terrorists waving AK-47s, per Gaardian.
Per Noo Yoik Crimes, 2000,000,0003 terrorists have been rounded up and disappeared: maybe to UP. UP is planting 300 crore trees this year, someone needs to dig the holes.

UNITED NATIONS: China and Pakistan were targeted for their persecution of religious minorities, with western powers such the US and UK calling out both nations at a UN Security Council meeting on Thursday for the oppression faced by Christians, Ahmadis, Uighurs and other ethnic minorities.
The Arria-Formula Meeting of the Security Council on 'Advancing the Safety and Security of Persons Belonging to Religious Minorities in Armed Conflict' was organised by Poland, the Council President for August, to mark the first International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief.
Addressing the meeting, US Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom Samuel Brownback said religious freedom is essential for achieving peace and stability within nations and among nations. He then called out Pakistan for the persecution religious minorities in the country.
"In Pakistan, religious minorities continue to suffer from persecution, either at the hands of non-state actors or through discriminatory laws and practices," Brownback said.
Brownback voiced appreciation for Poland for inviting President of Human Rights Focus Pakistan, Naveed Walter who spoke about the challenges to religious freedom in Pakistan. Brownback described Walter as a "courageous advocate for the persecuted, whether Christian, Ahmadi, Hindu, or others."
In his remarks, Walter said "large groups of people are marginalised in their own societies" and the biased behaviour develops in other areas also "like the minorities on basis of religious affiliation as like in Pakistan, the Ahmadiyyas having the situation."

Problem is that the Congress ecosystem built up over 50 years takes a while to get out of the system. Vajpayee was nationalist and had good intentions, nobody can dispute that. But take a look at the folks advising him or in his govt (Sudheendra Kulkarni, Yashwant Sinha, Arun Shourie, Brijesh Mishra etc) and their later positions on various matters and you can see how much of a struggle it was. And of course the less said about 2 UPA terms with MMS, Mani Shakar Iyer, Chidambaram, Jean Dreze etc (not to mention one of those terms being completely held hostage by communists), the better.

The only saving grace with this is that Pa^i tactical brilliance (aka strategic stupidity) with Burhan Wani, stone pelting, etc followed by Pulwama that was the last straw and forced a nationalist revival. If the Pa^is had any brains, they would have let the situation slowly simmer and fester to the point of no return.

I think the J&K 'mainstream' politicians and the separatists have basically been pulling the same scam on us that Pa^is have been pulling on Massa wrt to Taliban/terrorism/Afghanistan. It took a full term of Modi + reelection with an unbeatable mandate + addition of a hands-on Amit Shah to finally break the Gordian knot, or take the first step towards breaking it anyway.

IMO - this whole thing was a process. The corruption & delegitimization of the Valley parties & separatists was a necessary precondition for the bloodless 370 abrogation - otherwise they would have become martyrs.

It’s east to bash IB & previous govts for paying these people off, but the conditions they created resulted in an environment where 370 could be abrogated.

Note that even while these clowns were being paid, the COIN grid kept getting tighter & tighter - and killings kept going down.

Don’t forget - even Modi put up with this for 5 years.

also makes me wonder about the timing of these articles. why did our 'free' press not write about this farce for so long ,why did they not question and openly call out this stupidity from all the gov from 2001-2019. 4th pillar of democracy my ass. this was known all along but only mentioned in murmurs and whispers. why no sounds from ndtv to republic, leave along nationalist think tanks. instead we waste time and national headlines and political discourse on those losers jokers from JNU.

Which is why we need Commemorative Parks and Stadia where terrorist nbds suppurate today. Yank them out by the roots. This is the best chance in 100 years: the screaming over that will be drowned in the general whining. The Enemy has Over-Whined. Use the chance. No need to kill anyone, just give them free trips 1000 miles away, allow them to cool down, and then re-enter society with suitable ID tagging. Filter out the good ones and return them promptly and with honor and property rights.

People have not analyzed the events of Godhra pre-through-post Feb 28, 2002. There was a window there to:
(a) Announce the encirclement of the whole area using an infantry division
(b) Sweep inwards, house-to-house, arrest all.
(c) Process all in a camp
(d) Swift trial of **ALL**
(e) Default Death Sentence to all who were in the mob.
(f) Bring in strategic bombers and bomb several emptied neighborhoods to rubble.
(g) Hoist the Tiranga (they killed a school teacher for hoisting the Tiranga on Aug 15 1 or 2 years prior and nothing much was done to THOSE, which is why the 58 innocents were burned to death and another 700 died in the riots.

When that window closed, there was nothing with which to argue to the angry people of Gujarat **NOT** to riot

Guys, what are the factss behind the FATF group black listing TSP? Indian media is reporting that some black listing has taken place, while TSP completely rejects Indian reports as fake news. Of course accounting for mis-reporting in general, I would say 20% from India, and close to 90% from TSP, this means what Indian media is reporting is 80% accurate, while what TSP media is putting out is close to fake news at 10% accuracy.

Conflict entrepreneurs have enjoyed the benefits for years. An accomplice in Udhampur, who earned the his name as a 'middleman' vociferously claimed to me that if 370 was done away with, he would be on the street. From supplying low quality BPG, to procuring ammunition for JKP, and even went onto open a McDonalds at Jammu airport courtesy 370. And no, he wasn't a KM, but a Punjabi refugee (not Dogra) who had a Permanent Resident Certificate. The eco-system takes care of everyone within it.

Looks like the UK waited for a while before issuing a clarification. Both the delay and the clarification are significant.
1. The felt compelled to issue the clarification.
2. The delay was to gauge the reaction of the valley. It can only mean that If the news from the valley had been bad the statement would have been different.

Note to self: Brits$shit are still playing games.

Outstation guys are told to go to TRC, to get outstation cabs. (I visited TRC twice, didn't find ANY outstation cab).

Entry to airport also same as earlier.

ROADS : All main roads were open. No blockages. Barbed wires have been removed to side. No vehicle being stopped. Airport to Hyderpora, Baghat, Rajbagh, Residency, even upto Boulevard. Heavy presence of armed forces. Traffic plying normally on all MAIN roads, but traffic is THIN.

Amit Tyagi

INTERIORS : Downtown is a NO GO. Interior roads have blockades. Some barbed wires. But more than security forces clampdown, it is CIVILIAN CURFEW thats effecting movement.

Very early morning considered to be safest to go to or come out of downtown/interiors.

MARKETS : ALL markets closed. ATMs open. Small 5-10 people queues at ATMS (I checked 3). Medical shops open. Colony Kirana shops open. Vegetable vendors open at Bemina on roadside. Petrol pumps were closed in day (saw 3).

CIVILIAN CURFEW : Youth beating people going out. Pelting stones on even civilians. Snatching away keys of vehicles. Mostly in evening, when forces wind up. Access 2 some interiors cut by youth, putting RCC pipes, trees. They come out, pelt stones, run back beyond these blockades

LAW & ORDER: Small, unorganized, localized violence/stone pelting reported in some downtown or interiors. Being controlled at local level by forces, mostly by tear gas shells. In some cases, pellets too. Only one death being talked about, of a 17 years old, who jumped in water.

Looks like the "miscreant youth" is being discretely watched, with the forces arriving in the night for a quick visit and opening an invite to the nearest police lockup. What may be happening is that trouble maker youth who are like the last rung of Jehadi leadership is now being picked up, while the higher level tiers are already send up to the prison.

And the govt. may also have plans to open up phone communication area by area; as there would be a sudden burst of traffic from the jehadis seeking guidance from their handlers. And the best way to keep the main stream media run helter skelter is to proceed with the investigations against the "secular" politicians. Heard some thing is now cooking up on Kapil Sibal as well.

Habal,

Sounds pretty balanced for the most part. Similar view expressed by Rahul Pandita on NPR

https://www.npr.org/2019/08/18/75222104 ... both-sides

Rahul tells what is somewhat well known. There is a significant pro-India section who actually favor 370 revocation, but are scared that pigLeTs will put a bullet through their head.

I think the so-called 'civillian curfew' in that long twitter thread, is a key data point that needs to be widely communicated across traditional and social media. Basically more than security forces, it is jihadis/separatists youth who are terrorizing their own people and restricting their movement. I am sure a lot of people in downtown Srinagar would like to get on with life but are being kept under duress and shut in by the jihadis.

Yes. Its the same sh1ts who used to go place open coffins near polling booths, and went around telling people that they would come and kill anyone with the black voting-ink mark on their fingers, back in 2000.
The IA reacted then by saying that only those with the ink marks would be given rations. Our dear postor Somnath :(( :(( about "SLaughter of Democracy" and we responded by saying that it was Laughter of Democracy. There are a few thousand terrorists still there, and those need to be plucked off the streets and disposed of.

To quote the late KPS Gill's Preface to his book:
Terrorism in the Punjab did not end because "The People Got Tired of Terrorism". The People never wanted terrorism. Terrorism ended because We Killed The Terrorists.
A terrible chapter of Indian history, but one where the solution was the only one possible.

Going by the reactions so far, it looks like the Pakistani playbook will be to get a bunch of Kashmiris killed by provoking the security forces and attack India using that angle. If it comes after a terror spectacular in mainland India, so much the better in confusing and muddling up the issue. How can this be solved?

So far, it looks like no one is going to be killed for stone throwing, though they may get peppered with birdshot. That can also lead to pretty bad visuals in international media. Terrorist may try to fire automatic weapons at nervous security men from behind crowds. Or fire automatic weapons at protesting crowds themselves blaming the forces for such acts.. This has happened in the past. The only solution has to be to destroy the protest culture in Kashmir with an iron hand. People need to experience normal life without jihadi slogans and stone throwing. If you come out to a protest to throw stones etc, you are going to rot in an Uttar Pradesh jail for some time. Get the trouble makers out of Kashmir and that should be the end of that.

Another angle is making the coverage of such protests illegal. What purpose is served by disseminating jihadi propaganda via afp, nyt, bbc etc. etc. etc. For too long the lie, that such protests serve as a safety valve, has been spread. I am not sure any purpose is served by this.

If removal of 370/35A was a declaration of intent that we are here to win Kashmir, that declaration should manifest on the ground by getting rid of the jihadism - exemplified by the stone throwing - on the ground. No more stone throwing contests and matches between mobs and forces.

The two articles are great and also good read are some more articles written by the same authors.

https://www.thequint.com/voices/opinion ... operations

Lot of the local happenings make sense now, and also give a better idea of what’s going on in Kashmir till now. Makes sense that everyone tries to implement an easy solution with money and once corrupted, difficult to turn back. A long road ahead with some of the visible changes in KP and hopefully more coming, it is a shake up of the system that is required. New force and administration, yes we can do that, ab yeah hai India, Meri Jaan !

Implementation of the quota system for seats by govt would also allow new faces and some new sections to be represented and gives a sporting chance.

It almost feels like this has two faces, one that most people here are more familiar with that is the fight with Pak and talk about human rights violations and terrorism etc and more external faced and which seem to receive more attention- versus the actual fight that goes on on the ground where making money and changing stances, people realizing that taking extreme positions bring them wealth or for some youth believing that they are born to be taken care of - time will tell, and hoping we have some good tactics in store to deal with all these.

I expect the Baluchistan front to hot up before/when communications are restored in J&K.

Sounds pretty balanced for the most part. Similar view expressed by Rahul Pandita on NPR

Rahul tells what is somewhat well known. There is a significant pro-India section who actually favor 370 revocation, but are scared that pigLeTs will put a bullet through their head.
Please don't post links from NPR. They are nothing more than deceit with dignity. They put one report out, and then a whole host of others which are complete trash. Their India correspondent, Lauren Frayer, is a liar know-nothing liberal blond-bimbo dipshit with a humanities degree. She and NPR have their own agenda. The US taxpayer should not be paying a single penny for such trash reporting.

Better yet, the GoI should cancel her visa. Period. Go back.

I agree with some parts of what you say. NPR is a pompous US-centric propaganda machine with a veneer of objectivity. I doubt they have an agenda. As Rajiv MalhotraJi explains more lucidly, they are of the liberal genre for sure, but just like conservative RW outlets like Fox, both uphold primacy of the US empire and western tribalism but through different means. I have long stopped listening to NPR. That link was from Rahul Pandita's twitter line.

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. Both Indians as well as 'international community' hang India by its democracy albatross. GoI cannot raise a little finger at a Paki stooge like Sheila Rashid puking and plotting against India from within, because we are a democracy onlee and anybody can p!ss on India without fear of consequences, what to speak of an all American blonde like Frayer. Trump, whatever gripe he might have for NPR, will call ModiJi and demand answers.
