None of these "gotchas" worked in 2016, his blue collar base simply weren't moved by these memes. Trump openly talked about doing business with China, buying their steel, renting and selling them space in his buildings, taking loans from them, etc....

He was able to convince them that he did these things as any "smart" businessman would have done.

Only positions have consolidated. Trump is consolidating the white vote in the rest of the US. If 1-2% more whites show up to the polls, it’s game over for the urban naxal party.

AFAIK, I think India stopped the export of its Rhesus monkeys to the US decades ago. They were being misused, abused and unnecessarily sacrificed in the name of research. The US can use its own monkeys in the Democratic party. Desi commies, DMK and Islamists are still more loved than American Democrats.

Marvel VP and Ms. Marvel Creator Sana Amanat: “Blatant Racism, Bigotry & Hypocrisy Peddled by This Administration” :((
Amanat’s comments were made in a Tweet directed at Minnesota representative Ilhan Omar. She wrote, “Ilhan Omar thank you for being an idealistic force full of grace in the midst of such blatant racism, bigotry & hypocrisy peddled by this administration.”

She continued, “I hope America realizes that Islamophobia has been institutionalized & ignored for far too long. We are with you. Keep fighting.”
Amanat has been an outspoken critic of President Trump in the past. Last October, she wished the entire nation could sue Donald Trump for “emotional and psychological abuse.”

Washington Times reporter Doug Ernst also uncovered a number of old tweets from Amanat that she has since deleted. She wrote, “Mexicans, Jews, Muslims, women, native Americans, the environment, science, and KIDS. #StuffTheRepublicansHate #ProbablyMissingThings.”

In another tweet, she wrote responded to the Kumail Nanjiani, a current member of Marvel’s The Eternals. Nanjiana wrote, “You know what? I’ve changed my mind. Diversity is stupid. From now on every person in everything should be brown.” Amanat added her own thoughts to that tweet writing, “That’s the future once we start inter-breeding. Brown will rule. Muhahahaha.”
She also wrote, “One day, we will all be brown. (And NO that does not mean I plan to spread shariah law).”
Amanat has also made sure to inject politics into Marvel Comics. She specifically described how Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel would react to meeting President Donald Trump.
“The first thing she would say is that he’s doing such irreparable damage to young Americans, and minorities everywhere. Words and images are really powerful, and these young kids are actually having a perception of themselves that’s not true, and that’s so dangerous. And then she’d probably remind him that his grandfather was an immigrant, I believe, and if he’d had the same type of vitriolic sentiment thrown at him, Trump would not have had the opportunities he’s had, or the success that he’s had. And then she’d probably fly off with the Avengers and save the world from actual bad guys, and prove him wrong about who Muslims really are.”

Dunno why they're doing this:
https://taskandpurpose.com/military-chi ... itizenship
Children of US troops born overseas will no longer get automatic American citizenship, Trump administration says
"The policy change explains that we will not consider children who live abroad with their parents to be residing in the United States even if their parents are U.S. government employees or U.S. service members stationed outside of the United States, and as a result, these children will no longer be considered to have acquired citizenship automatically," USCIS spokesperson Meredith Parker told Task & Purpose on Wednesday, when asked how the policy changes how the government views children of U.S. service members.

"For them to obtain a Certificate of Citizenship, their U.S. citizen parent must apply for citizenship on their behalf," she added. The process under INA 322 must be completed before the child's 18th birthday.

^^^It's a confusing ruling.
In plain English: Children who are adopted by U.S. service members abroad, and children who are born to service members while overseas who are not yet citizens (such as service members who are green card holders) will not receive automatic citizenship by merely living with their parents who are out of the U.S on orders.

Wikipedia bio-page of Ms. Sana Amanat
Early life

Amanat was born into a Pakistani family. She lived with her parents, who were Pakistani immigrants, in a predominantly white New Jersey suburb. Throughout her childhood, Amanat had trouble fitting in and struggled with self-identity. This was because she often saw women who were blonde and white idolized in society while Muslims were often demonized. As a result, she wished to become a pretty white girl. It wasn't until later in her life that Amanat realized that the ideal person is a one who is good at heart.[4]
Low self-esteem due to Pakistani origin parents and victim complex of The whole world is against Pakistanis because they are Muslim, perhaps.

US university’s unwavering love for chinese students.

9 Chinese ASU students detained at Los Angeles airport, denied admission to US
https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/lo ... 169610001/

Nine Chinese students who were returning to the U.S. as undergraduate students at Arizona State University were detained at Los Angeles International Airport, university officials said.

The students were detained by Customs and Border Protection officials "over the last week," the university said in a statement Friday. The students were "denied admission to the U.S. to continue their studies" and were sent back to China, ASU said.

"We are working as quickly as possible to coordinate with the federal government to understand the circumstances surrounding these actions and to rectify the situation," ASU said.

ASU said it has not been able to get answers on why the students were detained and sent back.

Despite returning to China, they're still enrolled at ASU, working through ASU Online, an ASU official said. The university expects some of the detained students to graduate this semester, the official said.

The detention happened as students were returning to the country for the fall semester.

Since then, ASU has reached out to "all levels of federal government," the university said. ASU President Michael Crow sent letters to Michael Pompeo, the U.S. Secretary of State, and Kevin McAleenan, the acting secretary of Homeland Security.

"In each case, the students were in possession of all needed documentation to enter the U.S. yet they were refused entry at the airport, told they needed to return to China, that they needed to pay for their own airline ticket to do so or face a ban from re-entering the U.S. for five years," Crow wrote to the federal officials.

Crow wants a review of the individual situations for the nine students and a review of the procedures that now include searching electronic devices carried by students who enter the U.S.

"In our country, where we value due process and celebrate the different ways in which our government behaves from that of the arbitrary and capricious behavior of other nations, it is beyond my comprehension how the U.S. government could establish and implement policies that bring about the outcomes we are now witnessing," Crow wrote.

Crow said the situation seemed to be similar to the Harvard student, which also involved customs officials looking at electronic devices.

^^^Chinese and Indian students are important for revenue for many universities in the US. This is a case of undergrad students, but would have serious implications for the university as a whole if they were admitted initially to the US and then expelled later. Word would get around.

Vice President Mike Pence's China Speech at Hudson Institute, it's from last year

This is an open and very clear declaration of the US intent and Trump's resolve to tame the hans. It may also partially divert their energies away from the pakistan and afghanistan and unburden India just a bit

Pence accused China of "meddling in America's democracy," in a wide-ranging speech. He also slammed China's militarization of contested areas in the South and East China Sea, its practice of "debt diplomacy" in developing countries, and efforts to convince other nations to sever ties with Taiwan.

Perhaps so and maybe he was influenced by EJ donors. Many EJs have a soft corner for the Chinese as their intention was to proselytize them lock-stock-and-barrel going back to the late 19th century. Little do they know the Chinni has no place for religion as devotion to China comes first and foremost. The Chinni will indulge the EJs to take financial advantage and then push their own agenda. Go talk to some hardcore EJs and you'll find that at some Xtian based colleges in the US, they will suggest that there is no room for the American flag on the premises. They want to harvest as many souls from around the world as they can - knowing pushing US patriotism may be a turn off.

Well lads, the time for shilling from all sides for pipsqueak a or claptrap b for next year has arrived, even to the far reaches of an indian related board; to commemorate the occasion, it is only fitting that we look at the intellectual debate between the supporters of a and b:

Watch as how eloquent the debaters are and ponder on the strength of their argument and know that the leader of these people is allowed by the powers-that-be to be the next resident, or so is fervently believed.
The culmination of the entirety of philosophical arts since mankind began and this is only one rally; with intellectuals such as these how can other nations even compete?

The U.S. national-security system was created in the aftermath of World War II. President Franklin Roosevelt, who called himself a “juggler … perfectly willing to mislead and tell untruths it if helps win the war,” led that massive effort with a handful of aides and by the seat of his pants. But that ad-hoc style worried many in Washington—and most of Congress, the military brass, and the rest of government agreed it was no way to govern in a postwar world. So, Congress created the National Security Council in 1947, bringing everyone into one room for discussions, and a few years later, the White House established the position of national security adviser to coordinate the conversations.

That system evolved over seven decades, but its overarching aim remained consistent: providing a coherent policymaking process for a nuclear-armed superpower, that could replace seat-of-the-pants improvisation. Such policy integration did not ensure perfect order in Washington, much less that the choices it made were always right, as a review of the minutes of National Security Council meetings about Vietnam, Iraq, and other crises make clear. But such regular order, a predictable rhythm and rigor to how the government made decisions, brought some sanity to Washington—and stability to the world.
President Trump, who lacks any prior experience with government or national security, struggled from the start to find a workable rhythm in this system. Still, leaders in foreign capitals took heart that—despite his ham-handed tweets and incendiary statements—the president was forced to sit in meetings and deal with the questions from his more experienced appointees and Cabinet secretaries. The departure of Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis and others aides, though, has left Trump less constrained: He has begun relying on a shadow National Security Council that includes senators, a retired general, and a television anchor, and his public and private suggestions that the national security adviser no longer speaks for the president have undermined any remaining sense of order.

The world changes as we live in it; we’re all part of a pattern that we can glimpse only dimly. Historians in a thousand years will know for sure whether the American empire in this moment was nearing its own late antiquity. Perhaps by then Muncie and South Bend will loom as large in the historical imagination as the monasteries of Cluny and St. Gall do today. The ancient university towns of Palo Alto and New Haven may lie in different countries. In the meantime, we would do well to recognize and, where possible, nurture the “astounding new beginnings” already under way.

Sentences of 3 Blackwater guards reduced from 2007 massacre
https://www.apnews.com/caf7bad4067d42e28fc3777b088d485a
WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge on Thursday greatly reduced the sentences of three former Blackwater security contractors, in the latest development from a complex case dating back to the 2007 shootings of unarmed civilians in Baghdad.

U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth sentenced Paul Slough to 15 years in prison, Evan Liberty to 14 years and Dustin Heard to 12 years and seven months. All three had received 30-year terms in a 2015 trial -- a mandatory sentence for the commission of a felony while using a military firearm. A fourth defendant in the same trial, Nicholas Slatten, was sentenced to life in prison.

The case stems from a chaotic 2007 incident when the men’s Blackwater unit opened fire at a Baghdad traffic circle, killing 14 unarmed Iraqis and wounding 17. The men all essentially blamed the fog of war, claiming they mistakenly believed they were under attack.

The shootings strained U.S.-Iraqi relations and focused intense international scrutiny on the extensive use of private military contractors in Iraq.

Those convictions were all overturned on appeal in 2017. The three-judge panel ruled that the 30-year mandatory sentence was unjust and excessive; the rule was meant to be used on drug traffickers and gang members, and had never before been applied to military contractors who had essentially be deputized by the U.S. government.

‘Octoroon,’ ‘Mulatto’ or ‘Aryan’: Couples Sue Virginia to Stop It From Forcing People to Choose a Race in Order to Get a Marriage License
https://www.theroot.com/octoroon-mulatt ... 1837946289
Three couples in Virginia are invoking the names of Richard and Mildred Loving, the couple whose fight to be legally wed led to the striking down of laws banning interracial marriage, in their quest to stop Virginia from requiring racial ID — including outdated or outright offensive terms like “quadroon,” “mulatto” and “Aryan” — in order to get a marriage license.

The law in question dates to the 1920s, first enforced by a Virginia bureaucrat named Walter Plecker who forthrightly compared his work to “that done in Nazi Germany,” according to a federal lawsuit filed by the couples against the state, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports.

The law, according to the suit, was part and parcel of Virginia’s laws banning interracial marriage, and Plecker, the couples allege, “made it his mission to secure proper enforcement of Virginia’s law banning the marriage of whites and non-whites,” the Times-Dispatch reports.

One of the couples suing the state, Brandyn Churchill and Sophie Rogers, say that when they applied for a marriage license in Rockbridge (Va.) Circuit Court, they were given a list of approved races from which to choose, according to the Times-Dispatch. That list included the following designations: American, Aryan, Blanc, Hebrew, Islamic, Israelite, Jew, Mestizo, Mulatto, Nordic, Octoroon, Quadroon, Red, Teutonic and White American.

Another of the couples taking part in the suit, Ashley Ramkishun and Samuel Sarfo, told the Post they were told by a marriage clerk to select “other” if they deemed that none of the other designations fit; a choice they found offensive.

“We don’t want to put ‘other’ because we’re not ‘other. ’ We are human beings,” said Ramkishun, who is of Asian Indian and Guyanese descent.

Her fiance, Sarfo, who is from Ghana, says he also shuns racial categorizations and says Virginia should get rid of the question altogether or make answering it optional.

Bolton was more of a hardliner on Iran, Venezuela and NoKo than Trump.

Is possible that without Bolton, Trump may be more amenable to a quick deal with Iran which essentially restores the Iran Nuclear deal with some
Iranian pullback of support for Hezbollah and the Houtis in Yemen. Relaxation of tension with Iran should be good for India due to lead to a continued fall in Oil prices and a more helpful environment if we have to play a role in Afghanistan. Getting more oil from Venezuela (with less threat of regime change) into the market will also exacerbate the falling trend in Oil prices.

On the other hand, Bolton was against any deal with the Taliban, particularly of the kind Trump was advocating. However, since Trump has walked out of talks, its possible that Bolton's view has prevailed on this point.

But what I came to post is that Ayatollah Bolton Khan has been fired. The day can't be all bad then. Now if they can put the criminal RRaphael behind bars again, they can come up with some sort of Afghan policy.
Was Bolton the twerp who suggested talking to Taliban and giving aid to the Pakis? Probably. Major loss of face when Taliban IED-mubarakked a US soldier as their Negotiating Team was heading to Herrows' Welcome at Camp David. I think head-e-Bolton rolled because of that.

See??? Opening for MAD to do the Iran-Southern Afghanistan-IAF Security Agreement that puts Revolutionary Guards armored units along the northern border of Afghanistan. With Iran-based IAF combat patrols providing cover along with some S400 units. From Helmand border to Quetta border. And do Hot Pursuit of terrorist attacks coming from Balochistan-based PA, until Balochistan manages to secede.
See Enn Enn:
Donald Trump has become irritated at an emerging impression his hawkish national security advisers are marching him closer to war with Iran despite his isolationist tendencies, according to people familiar with the matter.
Instead, Trump is signaling his intent to speak with the Iranians as tensions rise in the Persian Gulf, and his national security team has taken steps they hope could facilitate a new diplomatic opening.
As tensions with Iran have escalated over the past week, National Security Council officials close to Bolton were initially dismissive of the need to draw up deescalation options, including during a meeting late last week with State and Pentagon officials.
But in a follow-up session on Wednesday with the same group, those NSC officials were singing a different tune, according to an administration official. Instead, the officials asked the Pentagon to draw up additional deterrence and deescalation options for the President to review, according to an administration official.
Trump denied on Wednesday there was any "infighting" over his Middle East policy. But he reiterated his desire to open talks with Iran, a wish he's been advocating heavily in meetings over the past week.
"Different opinions are expressed and I make a decisive and final decision - it is a very simple process. All sides, views, and policies are covered," he tweeted. "I'm sure that Iran will want to talk soon."

Trump fires John Bolton
By Zachary Cohen, Kaitlan Collins and Kevin Liptak, CNN, September 10, 2019
Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump abruptly announced in a tweet Tuesday that he has asked national security adviser John Bolton to resign, noting that he "strongly disagreed with many" of Bolton's suggestions "as did others in the administration."
"I thank John very much for his service. I will be naming a new National Security Advisor next week," Trump wrote.
The tweet came just one hour after the White House press office said Bolton was scheduled to appear at a Tuesday press briefing alongside Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin.
Asked during the briefing whether he and Mnuchin were surprised that Bolton was fired, given that he was supposed to appear alongside them, Pompeo said, "I'm never surprised."
Bolton tweeted minutes after Trump's announcement, "I offered to resign last night and President Trump said, 'Let's talk about it tomorrow.'"
Bolton reiterated the point that it was he who offered to resign on Fox News Tuesday.
Trump has plowed through an unprecedented number of national security professionals while multiple geopolitical crises have played out.
The President has had three national security advisers -- Bolton, Michael Flynn and H.R. McMaster. He has summarily fired a secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, by tweet after undercutting the former ExxonMobil CEO for months. Secretary of Defense James Mattis resigned, reportedly in frustration over Trump's decision to pull out of Syria.

Added later: DT never liked Bolton's mustache. As a mustached person myself, on this one area my sympathies are with Mr. Bolton.

No, it was the doing of Indira Gandhi. I am almost certain.

Complete ban was imposed in 1978 during Morarji Desai's govt. Buth cutting down started much before. Here is something from NYT

Export Ban on Monkeys Poses Threat to Research By Boyce Rensberger Jan. 23, 1978

Until 1973, Indian trappers, capturng wild monkeys from forests, farms and villages where the highly adaptable rhesus lives;. shipped some 30,000 a year to this country. Then the quota’ was cut to 20,000. Through 1975 and 1976 the quota was squeezed to 12,000.

Being an experienced person ( I would not say older), I remember clearly this ban enacted by Shri Morarji. If I remember correctly, he came to know that these monkeys were being tortured in order to get cosmetics and medicines approved for the US market and he put a stop to it. That was that. There were some appeals made by the research organizations but he was adamant.
