An interesting situation is now emerging in Kerala. And it is surprising that this has to happen now (when CPI(M); arch rivals of BJP is ruling KL).
In early 1990s there was the kidnap & subsequent murder of
Chekannur Moulavi, a progressive Islamic cleric who was not in good terms with the more Jehadi variety of Muslim organisations. And in the late 1990s Thrissur district, in Kerala had seen a series of deaths of RSS & BJP workers. In the case of at least one RSS worker where the police could clearly identify that it was a murder CPI(M) party workers were arrested. And under the
sustained interrogation* of Kerala's finest, the commies admitted doing the crime.
Death of another RSS worker under mysterious circumstances led to K.P Crime Branch launching a more discrete investigation. T.P Sen Kumar IPS (who had a big tussle with the commie CM of Kerala now) was heading the CB CID then. The investigation revealed that in the coastal area in central Kerala there existed a very well established Islamic terror network. They operated as small squads, and a member knew only who is squad commander was. Squad commanders knew their immediate supervisors who were generally operating out of mosques. The breakthrough was when the police's painstaking surveillance helped them identify some Mullahs who were handling multiple squads. And the network was soon busted.
It was soon established that one RSS chap was murdered because he is said to have
very close relations with some Muslim families (read it as girls). The CPI(M) cadre who was said to have committed the murders had to be now released, but that was after being imprisoned for four years. Now it is found that another RSS/BJP cadre whose death was said to be in a motor accident was actually murder.

Chekannur Moulavi case still needs to have a breakthrough. K.P and CBI both could not recover the dead body. It is said that the murderers dumped the body in one place (and this gang was arrested), but another gang then came and dumped the body else where, and YET another gang moved the body to some where else. All these gangs did not knew each other. TP Sen Kumar is now said to be firmly in the Sangh Parivar camp and he has been quite vocal on Kerala and the Islamic terrorist activities happening there. No wonder he openly says that now, for he knew the happenings way back from 1990s.
* The police sub-inspector who interrogated the commies and made them confess did face a set back in his career. AFAIK he retired a couple of years back, with a rank lower than what he ideally could have expected.

At least in Kerala, RSS does this regularly and in many cases BJP as well. But the remembrance functions are generally held at their respective shakhas/party offices.
