But old VVPATs had ordinary colorless both side transparent glass to see the paper vote. I don't know when, but maybe sometime in the middle of the year 2017, the "ordinary colorless both side transparent glass" was replaced by "dark black defacto front side mirror only backside transparent" glass, so that NOTHING is visible inside when inner light is OFF
