Wonder what that says about entire paki country .. as per the judgement. The bolded part just to show that terrorism camps are clearly worse.

Going by logic.
(1) Training camp for terrorism is worse.
(2) People responsible for that ie entire terrorist jihadi bunch (in case of pakilands in/out of uniform) must remain in jail TILL no longer a threat.

The judgement is quite clear until do gooders mess it up, however good the intention s are.
From UK thread
people are put away because of major serious offences but also a place where rehabilitation takes place
Fact is if people going in prison are also radicalized, just as outside, it defeat s the purpose and wastes monies to reform that is dongled as some kind of attraction that doesn't happen in such a situation.

EXPOSED: Indian media lied about terrorist Usman Khan to malign Pakistan
Unlike false reports published in Indian media, it became evident during the trial at Woolwich Crown Court that Usman Khan had no relation of any kind with Pakistan or Azad Kashmir, birthplace of his parents. The trial had heard from the counter-terrorism police experts that while Usman Khan discussed setting up a training camp for training in Azad Kashmir, that plan never materialized. The evidence submitted before the court had established that there was no involvement of anyone from Pakistan in the nefarious plans that Usman Khan and his terrorism associates were making.

This is even worse in many ways. There is no difference in a Pakistani origin born in UK and Pakistani born in Pakistan as far as terrorism is concerned. You can take a Pakistan out of Terroristan but can't take a terrorist out of him.

We don't need to be 100% accurate. This is one of those situations where any publicity is good. Nobody is going to dissect details; and if they do, they will see plainly the Paki link to all these terror incidents.

The guy is a TPO (Terrorist of Pakistani Origin). Parents were from Pak. Didn't he grow up in Pak?
while Usman Khan discussed setting up a training camp for training in Azad Kashmir, that plan never materialized
That is like saying that he is not guilty of terrorism because the bomb he made, didn't work.

7 Pak Geerals teamed up with SC chief justice to block Qamar Javed Bajwa's extension
extracts
ET has learnt that the seven Generals, including one who had served as a defence attache in Pakistan High Commission in Delhi, were opposed to granting a three-year extension to Bajwa as this would spoil their chances for the coveted post. The list of disgruntled generals includes Corps Commander Multan Lt Gen Sarfraz Sattar who was on top of the seniority list for appointment as the Chief of Army Staff; Lt Gen Nadeem Raza, Lt Gen Humayun Aziz, Lt Gen Naeem Ashraf, Lt Gen Sher Afghan and Lt Gen Qazi Ikraam.
Chief of General Staff Lt Gen Bilal Akbar stood at the seventh place on the seniority list to succeed Bajwa. Not all of them would have publicly opposed Bajwa, but the senior-most ones were strongly opposed to Bajwa’s attempts to manipulate the system to stay at the top, and reportedly teamed up with Pakistan Supreme Court chief justice to block the move.
Lt Gen Sattar (senior-most after Bajwa) is said to have finally resigned after being superseded. He is also said to have had a row with Bajwa a few weeks ago, having accused him of ruining the army’s image. Sattar was the most senior General on November 29, the day Bajwa was supposed to retire. Earlier, he had served as military intelligence chief, Infantry Division Sialkot Commanding Officer and as the defence attache in India. Sources claimed that General (retd) Raheel Sharif, before his retirement as Chief of Army Chief, had suggested Sattar’s name as one of the options for the top post for continuation of his policies.
and
“If Bajwa would get an extension for three years, the most senior Generals will not remain eligible for the post of Army Chief. Chief justice Khosa, who retires next month, is part of the game. By extending Bajwa’s term for 6 months, he has provided the ones-in-line an opportunity to manipulate the legislation process. He has now thrown the grenade on the floor of Parliament. Bajwa is God but one of the many Gods in Pakistan,” Ali Salman Andani, a Pakistan military watcher, told ET.
Lt General Nadeem Raza belongs to Infantry and is serving as Chief of General Staff. He was promoted as a Major General in 2018 and will retire this month. As a Major General, he had served as Commandant PMA Kakul and Commanding Officer Waziristan. Lt Gen Humayun Aziz belongs to Artillery Regiment and got commissioned in 1985. Gen Humayun is serving as Corps Commander Karachi. The fourth senior-most serving General is Naeem Ashraf, who belongs to the Armoured Corps and got commissioned in the Pakistan Army in 1986. Currently, he is serving as Corps Commander Multan.
The fifth on the seniority list is General Sher Afghan who got commissioned in 1986 and belongs to “Azad Kashmir Regiment”. Gen Sher Afghan is serving as IG T&E in Pakistan Army. The sixth senior most General in Pakistan Army currently is Qazi Muhammad Ikraam. He belongs to Artillery Regiment, and also got commissioned in 1986. Gen Qazi Ikraam is Commander ASFC. The seventh senior most General in Pakistan Army is Bilal Akbar.

2 Pak army officers among 4 killed in Indian retaliation on LoC
extracts
There were reports that at least four Pakistan army personnel including two officers were killed in retaliatory shelling and firing by the Indian troops.
Pakistan’s Director General (DG), Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Maj Gen Ghafoor confirmed injuries to two officers of Pakistan army in Indian retaliatory shelling at Rakhchikri and Rawlakote sectors along the LoC. However, subsequent reports suggested that both the injured officers as well as two other Pakistani troops succumbed to the injuries they suffered in retaliatory shelling by the Indian Army.
Identity of slain Pakistan army personnel couldn’t be ascertained immediately.
Four forward posts of Pakistan army were razed to ground in the Indian retaliation, sources said, adding that following effective Indian action, Pakistan stopped shelling and firing targeting civilian locations in Qasba and Kirni areas of Poonch district.

So I don't think this episode marks the end of the power of the army, just that there might be multiple points of power within the deep state vying for one another's positions.

Middle-class buying purana (second hand) clothes in Naya pakistan...

Pre-partition landa bazaars in Rawalpindi a ‘blessing’ for inflation-hit citizens
The aptly named Coat Wali Gali in Narankari Bazaar is one of several pre-partition secondhand markets in Rawalpindi citizens are turning to for winter wear because of rising inflation and falling purchasing power.

Although these secondhand markets have always existed in the city, they are seeing increasing traffic from citizens who feel that the rise in prices has taken many commodities that they found affordable as recently as last year out of reach. And instead of buying cheap winter wear from China, they said they would prefer to buy older clothing from European countries.

But some customers complained that even the landa bazaar was more expensive than last year.

But Mohammad Akram said the landa bazaar was a blessing for the middle class, with affordably priced garments for the average citizen who can barely manage their household budget.

London Bridge attack: Isis claims responsibility as footage emerges of Usman Khan, ‘I ain’t no terrorist’ - The Independent Chiara Giordano,The Independent Sun

Isis has claimed responsibility for the London Bridge attack as old footage emerged of knifeman Usman Khan denying he was a terrorist.

The extremist group claimed the 28-year-old convicted terrorist was one of its fighters but did not provide any evidence.

No one else is being sought over Friday’s attack, which claimed the lives of two people and left three others injured.

Video footage from 2008 shows Khan, who would have been about 17 at the time, telling reporters “I ain’t no terrorist” as anti-terror police raided his home.

He told the BBC: “I’ve been born and bred in England, in Stoke-On-Trent, in Cobridge, and all the community knows me and they will know, if you ask them, they will know like these labels what they’re putting on us, like terrorist, this, that, they will know I ain’t no terrorist.”

Shortly before 2pm on Friday, Khan, armed with two knives and wearing a fake suicide vest, stabbed 25-year-old Jack Merritt and a woman to death and left three other people injured after going on a knife rampage in the capital.

The convicted terrorist was on licence and wearing an electronic monitoring tag when he attended a conference on prisoner rehabilitation hosted by Cambridge University scheme Learning Together at Fishmongers’ Hall near London Bridge.

Khan, who was living in Stafford, was given permission to travel into the heart of London by police and the probation service. He had also been allowed to travel to Whitehall earlier in the year.

He was tackled to the ground by members of the public, including ex-offenders from the conference, before he was shot dead by police in front of shocked bystanders on London Bridge.

Image
Khan, who was imprisoned six years for terrorism offences before his release last year stabbed several people in London on Friday, Nov. 29 (AP)

Tales of acts of bravery quickly emerged as footage was shared online showing Khan being taken to the ground as one man sprayed him with a fire extinguisher and another, reportedly a Polish man who worked at the Hall, lunged towards him with a narwhal tusk believed to have been taken from a wall inside the building.

Khan was part of an al-Qaieda-inspired terror group – linked to radical preacher Anjem Choudary – that plotted to bomb the London Stock Exchange and build a terrorist training camp on land in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir owned by his family.

A list of other potential targets included the names and addresses of the Dean of St Paul’s Cathedral in London, then London mayor Boris Johnson, two rabbis, and the American Embassy in London.

He was released from prison in December 2018 less than seven years into a 16-year prison sentence.

Friday’s attack has prompted the Ministry of Justice to review the licence conditions of every convicted terrorist released from prison, which is understood to be about 70 people.

Mr Merritt’s father David called his son a “beautiful spirit who always took the side of the underdog”, adding: “He was an exceptional young man, and I’m only finding out the half of it now he’s gone.”

Pakistani police charge hundreds of protesters with treason
Pakistan’s police say it has charged around 300 students and activists with sedition for making insulting remarks against its military, at a protest that was held to demand the lifting of a ban on political activity at universities
This time they are not waiting like they did with Lal Masjid. The Polis decided to have the fun before the PA took them away.
Pakistan’s police say it has charged hundreds of students and activists with sedition for making insulting remarks against its military  at a protest demanding the lifting of a ban on political activity at universities.

Sunday’s move by police in the city of Lahore to pursue treason cases against the demonstrators came hours before a tweet from Prime Minister Imran Khan suggesting he would end the 1984 ban on student unions.

Amnesty International condemned the move in a statement Sunday. It asked Pakistan to drop any charges and release those arrested following Friday’s rally in Lahore.

Police said the protesters had chanted against “state institutions,” a term referring to the country’s powerful military. They said the rally was attended by between 250 and 300 people, all of whom would be charged.

Hindus under attack in Bangladesh, Pakistan, face annihilation
Navtan Kumar, November 30, 2019

NEW DELHI: Incidents of human rights violations against Hindus are on the rise in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, where they are in a minority, but neither of the two countries nor the international community is concerned. As a result of this, the population of Hindus has declined in these two countries. Since 1947, the Hindu population in Bangladesh (former East Pakistan) has declined drastically from 31% to less than 9%, according to official government estimates. Dr Abul Barkat of Dhaka University says that Hindus will become extinct in Bangladesh in the next three decades if their population continues to decline at this rate.
In the first 11 months of 2018, 1,792 incidents of violence and discrimination targeting religious minorities took place in Bangladesh, according to Gobinda Chandra Pramanik of the Bangladesh National Hindu Mahajote, an alliance of 24 Hindu rights’ organisations. Of these, 50 took place on religious institutions and temples, while 2,734 acres were grabbed by local musclemen, according to “Hindu Human Rights Report 2019”, which covers violations of human rights of Hindus and has been prepared by Subhodeep Mukhopadhyay, Sankrant Sanu and Nithin Sridhar of the “IndiaFacts Research Group”.
The reports says that in 2017 and 2018, religious freedom conditions of Hindus continued to deteriorate in Islamic countries across the globe where they are in a minority and also in some parts of India.
Such incidents have been quite rampant in neighbouring Bangladesh, says the report. Around two years ago, the Purba Para Kali Mandir in Netrakona district of Mymensingh Division in northern Bangladesh was vandalised by people of the majority community there and four statues, Kali, Radha, Krishna and Jagai Madhai, were desecrated and broken. In a similar incident the same year, a mob desecrated idols and vandalised a temple, and went on the rampage in a Hindu neighbourhood apparently because the police stopped a tafsir mahfil (Islamic discussion) they were attending in College Para area of Alamdanga town, Chuadanga. They took out their frustration on Hindus who just happened to be nearby.
There were riots on Diwali day in Brahmanbaria in 2017, which led to the ransacking of more than 15 temples and led to the injury of 150 people. There were also attacks on the Santhal tribal community in Gopalganj. The beheading of Hindu priests and secular bloggers, abduction and conversion of Hindu girls, and forced occupation of minority owned lands also continued in the country.
A report by the Hindu American Foundation (HAF), which works for the cause of Hindus, says: “The plight of religious minorities and atheists has become increasingly precarious as there has been a marked increase in religiously motivated violence over the past few years coinciding with the rise of domestic and international Islamist terror groups. The recent escalation in violence coincides with the growing power of domestic and international extremist groups, such as Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), al-Qaeda in the Indian subcontinent (AQIS), and ISIS, among others.”
Similar is the case in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. According to human rights group South Asia Partnership-Pakistan, every year, radical men abduct and forcibly convert to Islam around 1,000 women, mostly Hindus. Around 5,000 Pakistani Hindus are forced every year to leave Pakistan for neighbouring India to escape religious persecution, according to the Pakistan Hindu Council.

Puppet Imran Khan, master General Bajwa and an India story
It was said that the Pakistan Army wanted to make sure that Imran Khan was seen as winning the election, allegedly rigged by a master to install its puppet in power.
Prabhash K Dutta, New Delhi, December 3, 2019.

In July 2018, when Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan claimed victory in the national election, it was said the Pakistan Army had installed him in the office of the prime minister. The claim derived authenticity from reports of selected targeting of media not seen sympathetic to Imran Khan during the election campaign, alleged harassment of candidates from other parties, preventing voters especially women from casting their votes in many areas deemed strongholds of Nawaz Sharif's party and most importantly delay in declaration of official results dozens of constituencies in Sharif-dominated Punjab province. It was said that the Pakistan Army wanted to make sure that Imran Khan was seen as winning the election, allegedly rigged by a master to install its puppet in power. Imran Khan's party still fell short of the majority mark in the national assembly.
The puppet-master charge against Imran Khan has come back to haunt both the Pakistan's prime minister and its army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. The fresh round of trouble began with the Narendra Modi government of India deciding to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir in the first week of August this year. This signalled a strict crackdown on separatist forces in Kashmir Valley. Pakistan Army has long found willing partners among the separatists to further its thousands cut policy in Kashmir Valley. Bajwa is seen as a Kashmir expert from Pakistan's point of view. He was due to retire in less than four months since the Modi government's move on Article 370 and within two months of the implementation of the decision. A new chief of army staff in Pakistan might have found it more difficult in furthering the thousands cut policy in Kashmir Valley.
A COMEDY OF ERRORS
Pakistan Army chief Bajwa is believed to have pressurised Imran Khan to give him another term by means of extension. Two weeks after the Article 370 move by the Modi government, Imran Khan as prime minister issued a notification granting an extension of three years to General Bajwa. The matter seemed to have settled. But it was pointed out that as the prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan did not have the authority to grant extension to the army chief. This could only be done by the President of Pakistan. Another notification was issued by which President of Pakistan Arif Alvi granting extension of three years to General Bajwa as the army chief.
There was still some procedural lapse. The President cannot grant an extension without the approval of the cabinet. The Imran Khan cabinet had not discussed and approved the proposal for extension of the term of General Bajwa as Pakistan Army chief. Finally, a fresh notification was issued. Meanwhile, a serial petitioner Riaz Rahi, a lawyer, moved the Supreme Court of Pakistan challenging extension granted to General Bajwa.
ARM-Y TWISTING
The case took a curious turn when the Supreme Court sought to know from the Imran Khan government under which law it granted an extension of three years to General Bajwa. It turned out that Article 243 of Pakistan's constitution under which extension was granted to General Bajwa does not provide for the extension of term to Pakistan Army chief. It provides for the only appointment of the chief of army staff in Pakistan. There is no law in Pakistan that authorises the government to grant extension to army chief. Yet only General Raheel Sharif demitted office without an extension or better say, overstay in the office of the chief of army staff in Pakistan in the last 20 years.

Six nations report more polio cases; Pakistan tops 90
Filed Under: Polio
Lisa Schnirring | News Editor | CIDRAP News | Dec 02, 2019
Countries experiencing recent polio outbreaks saw no letup in activity, with Pakistan reporting five new wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) cases and four African nations, Pakistan, and the Philippines reporting more circulating vaccine-derives poliovirus type 2 (cVDPV2) cases, according to the latest update from the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI).
Also, the World Health Organization (WHO) posted new updates on cVDPV2 in Africa and Pakistan.
Pakistan grapples with WPV1, cVDPV2
Of the five new WPV1 cases reported from Pakistan, three were from different locations in Sindh province with the other two from separate cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Paralysis onsets ranged from Oct 9 to Oct 7. The country has now reported 91 WPV1 cases this year, a sharp increase from 2018's 12 cases.
Also, two new cVDPV2 cases were reported, both from the town of Kohistan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, bringing Pakistan's total for the year to 11. Patients' paralysis onsets were Oct 11 and Oct 27.
In a Nov 28 statement from the WHO on Pakistan's cVDPV2 outbreak, the group said the country's 11 cases were confirmed between Jul 7 and Nov 3 in children ranging in age from 8 to 66 months. The patients include four from the same district of Gigot-Baltistan province, six from three different cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, and one from Islamabad.
cVDPV2 was also found in stool samples from contacts of two patients and from 16 healthy children from three different districts. In other sampling, the virus was found in seven environmental samples collected between Aug 21 and Oct 25 in Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Sindh provinces. Genetic sequencing showed that a Punjab province environmental sample collected in August is linked to an environmental samples collected in Gilgit-Baltistan province in August and September, indicating a cVDPV2 outbreak.

Pakistani exports to China on the rise. :rotfl:

Pakistan has discovered a new revenue stream for money to be made by the mard-e-momins. Christian (minority) girls to be sold into prostitution overseas.

Meanwhile all iz well in the 8th century banana republic.

After spinning a bomb blast incident as a vaccum bulb explosion this is a new one:
Killing a 11 year old by first stoning her and then terming the death as an accident - Girl had died "accidentally due to land sliding on the mountain" :rotfl:

The incident is tragic but i am ROFLMAO at the Porkistani propensity to think they can fool everybody by giving any insane spin to hide facts. I am reassured that paki behavior is so predictable.

Whatever it takes [Ashraf Jehangir Qazi | December 02, 2019 | Former ambassador to the US, India and China...]
Inside Pakistan, the government will be primarily concerned to pacify its own public opinion and counter charges of a dishonourable and shameful betrayal of the Kashmir cause which could seriously destabilise the country. It will be reduced to saving Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan itself from further Indian designs. India will massively interfere in AJK and GB to force a final settlement along or even beyond the LoC with the understanding if not approval of the US and the Western powers. China will provide diplomatic support to Pakistan while counselling ‘moderation’, the need to adopt a longer-term perspective on Kashmir, and ensuring continued territorial contiguity between Pakistan and China.
Pakistan has described Kashmir as its ‘jugular vein’ without which it is incomplete and cannot survive. It has pledged its last breath and drop of blood in defence of the Kashmiri people. It has always said any stoppage of Pakistan’s waters would be a casus belli. Moreover, in the name of the freedom struggle or jihad for Kashmir the people of Pakistan have had to live in a security rather than development state. This has deprived them of the benefits of democracy, good governance, peace and development[/b]. The results of this political degeneration are today evident in the wretched daily news every day.

The honest choice before the prime minister of Pakistan is stark: either he tells the nation that the costs of stopping India from perpetrating genocide in the Valley are more than Pakistan can bear and, therefore, he has no option but to ‘accept the unacceptable’ for Pakistan to survive. Or he asserts that the costs of a disgraceful betrayal of the Kashmir cause, especially after the loss of the majority of Pakistan’s population in 1971, will render the country a failed state without meaning, purpose, a moral foundation and a future worth having.

<snip>

There are no risk-free options to stop genocide, save Kashmir, and avoid war with India. Pakistan’s nuclear deterrent is meant to deter war not pursue war. But if the people of the Valley are threatened with genocide, as indeed they are, Pakistan’s deterrent must cover them. If this is rejected as wishful thinking there will be both genocide in the Valley and a slide towards war between India and Pakistan.

Aug 5, 2019 has transformed Kashmir from a longer-term diplomatic challenge to an existential challenge for Pakistan. Modi’s ‘Anschluss’ does not allow for incremental strategies. The prime minister must now do whatever it takes to ensure Pakistan no longer remains an irresolute and self-imprisoned soft state that surrenders its raison d’être.

EXPOSED: Indian media lied about terrorist Usman Khan to malign Pakistan
LONDON: Indian media has published a fake news to link the London Bridge attacker Usman Khan with Pakistan but the fact is Usman Khan had no connection with Pakistan as far as his extremist radicalization, terror conviction and his abhorrent acts are concerned.
Indian media outlets have said that Usman Khan, the terror suspect shot dead in the November 30, 2019 terror attack near London Bridge, was born in Pakistan but that’s a lie and an attempt to malign Pakistan.
This correspondent has attended some parts of Usman Khan’s terror trial at the Woolwich Crown Court in 2012 when he was convicted of terrorism charges with eight others for planning to bomb London Stock Exchange.

THE TERRORISM ACTS IN 2012
REPORT OF THE INDEPENDENT REVIEWER ON THE OPERATION OF THE TERRORISM ACT 2000 AND PART 1 OF THE TERRORISM ACT 2006
by DAVID ANDERSON Q.C. Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation
JULY 2013
2.12. Two common features may be highlighted:

(a) It is often said that the al-Qaida “franchise” has diversified in recent years into a variety of alternative locations such as Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, parts of North and West Africa and Syria. So indeed it has. However another fact, less widely appreciated, is that jihadis focussed on the West continue to train in the FATA. Such training was a precursor to four of the five plots referred to below.
(b) A further remarkable feature of all those plots is that they ended not with trials but with guilty pleas – a testament to the thoroughness of the police and prosecutors who brought them to court.

London Stock Exchange Plot (Operation GUAVA) – December 2010

2.13. Two London-based men (Mohammed Chowdhury and Abdul Miah) and two from Cardiff (Shah Rahman and Gurukanth Desai) formed a number of plans for attacks including possible attacks against the London Stock Exchange. Linked to this cell were three men from Stoke (Usman Khan, Nazam Hussain, Mohammed Shahjahan) who travelled to the FATA and planned to fund, construct and take part in a terrorist training camp in Kashmir, with a view to carrying out terrorist acts in the future. Two others were involved in discussions with the group and possessed copies of the Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula [AQAP] produced English language extremist magazine, Inspire. They also considered putting multiple letter bombs in the post. Following their arrest in December 2010, all nine members of the network pleaded guilty and eight were convicted of engaging in preparation for acts of terrorism (TA 2006 section 5).

More than 600 Pakistani girls and women were sold as brides in China, but diplomatic ties threaten investigation - National Post
Victims described undergoing forced fertility treatments, physical/sexual abuse and sometimes, forced prostitution, reports Associated Press. An alleged report contains accounts of organ harvesting

Pakistani investigators have discovered more than 600 girls and women across the country who were sex trafficked to China in the last two years. However, chances of convicting the traffickers remain uncertain due to pressures to maintain diplomatic ties.

According to a list obtained by the Associated Press, 629 Pakistani girls and women were sold as brides to Chinese men, since 2018. It is believed that they were all sold to the grooms by their families.

“No one is doing anything to help these girls,” an official, who remains anonymous due to their involvement in the investigation, told AP. “The whole racket is continuing, and it is growing. Why? Because they know they can get away with it.”

Since the case was first put together in June, pressures to maintain relations between Pakistan and China grounded any efforts to catch traffickers to a halt. In October, a Faisalabad judge acquitted 31 Chinese nationals charged in connection with the trafficking. Several of the alleged victims refused to testify due to threats or bribes. The government has also sought to halt the investigation, going so far as to transfer Federal Investigation agency officers pursuing trafficking networks, activist Salman Iqbal told AP.

Pakistani media have also been pressured into curbing their reporting on the investigation.

Pakistani’s interior and foreign ministries have refused to comment on the situation. “When we talk to Pakistani rulers, they don’t pay any attention,” said Iqbal.

The revelation follows an AP investigation from earlier this year, which found that Pakistani-Christian girls are at the highest risk of being trafficked as brides to China, often because the families belong to one of the poorest communities in Muslim-majority Pakistan. Many of the brides, after travelling to China, find themselves isolated in a region where they require a translation app to ask for a glass of water.

Many of the women who spoke to investigators described undergoing forced fertility treatments, physical and sexual abuse, and sometimes forced prostitution. One investigation report, according to AP, alleges that organs were harvested from some of the women sent to China.

The trafficking rings, reports AP, are made up of Chinese and Pakistani brokers and sometimes include Christian ministers of small evangelical churches who accept bribes to convince their flock to sell their daughters.

“The Chinese and Pakistani brokers make between four million and 10 million rupees ($25,000 and $65,000) from the groom, but only about 200,000 rupees ($1,500) is given to the family,” a senior official, anonymous due to proximity to the investigation, told AP.

China’s Foreign Ministry denied being aware of the list. “The two governments of China and Pakistan support the formation of happy families between their people on a voluntary basis in keeping with laws and regulations, while at the same time having zero tolerance for resolutely fighting against any person engaging in illegal cross-border marriage behaviour,” they said in a statement to AP’s Beijing bureau.

The rise of the marriage broker trade in Pakistan is relatively recent. Initially, Chinese men looking for a foreign bride would look towards Vietnam, Laos and North Korea. However, as demand increases, more men are looking further afar, Mimi Vu, director of advocacy at Pacific Links, told AP.

“It used to be, ‘Is she light-skinned?’ Now’s it’s like, ‘Is she female?’”

- Boris Johnson's Conservative party has been accused by Muslim leaders of allowing Islamophobia to "fester" within the UK.

- "It is abundantly clear to many Muslims that the Conservative Party tolerate Islamophobia," the group said.

- Johnson has previously claimed that Islamophobia is a "natural reaction" to Islam.

- He wrote in the Spectator in 2005 that "the problem is Islam. Islam is the problem."

- The prime minister also compared Muslim women to "letterboxes" and bank robbers.

- Johnson has dropped a previous pledge to hold an inquiry into Islamophobia within the Conservative party.

Boris Johnson's Conservative party has been accused by Muslim leaders in the UK of allowing Islamophobia to "fester" within their ranks.

"This an issue that is particularly acute in the Conservative Party who have approached Islamophobia with denial, dismissal and deceit," the group said in a statement on Tuesday.

They added: "It is abundantly clear to many Muslims that the Conservative Party tolerate Islamophobia, allow it to fester in society, and fail to put in place the measures necessary to root out this type of racism."

Examination of the prime minister's own record, by Business Insider, shows that he has himself previously sought to downplay and even justify Islamophobia in the UK.

Islamophobia is 'a natural reaction' - Boris Johnson Getty

In 2005, Johnson wrote in the Spectator that he believed it was only "natural" for the public to be scared of Islam.

"To any non-Muslim reader of the Koran, Islamophobia — fear of Islam — seems a natural reaction, and, indeed, exactly what that text is intended to provoke," he wrote.

"Judged purely on its scripture — to say nothing of what is preached in the mosques — it is the most viciously sectarian of all religions in its heartlessness towards unbelievers."

'Islam is the problem'

In the wake of the London bombings, he also questioned the loyalty of British Muslims and insisted that the country must accept that "Islam is the problem."

"It will take a huge effort of courage and skill to win round the many thousands of British Muslims who are in a similar state of alienation, and to make them see that their faith must be compatible with British values and with loyalty to Britain," he wrote.

"That means disposing of the first taboo, and accepting that the problem is Islam. Islam is the problem."

He added: "What is going on in these mosques and madrasas? When is someone going to get 18th century on Islam's medieval ass?"

Comparing Muslim women who wear the burqa to 'letterboxes'

Image

Boris Johnson was last year reported to the Equalities Commission after comparing Muslim women who wear burqas to "letter boxes" and bank robbers.

The former foreign secretary wrote in an article for the Telegraph that "it is absolutely ridiculous that people should choose to go around looking like letter boxes," adding that any female student who appeared at school or in a lecture "looking like a bank robber" should be asked to remove it.

Johnson has repeatedly refused to apologise for the comments, saying earlier this month that the article was actually a "liberal" argument against banning the burqa.
