^^^^ Exactly, somehow libtards are trying to be too clever by half. Yes, NRC will come, but its draft has not even been out. And lessons from Assam will be incorporated.

Lets cut through the chase. As Shahid Siddique honestly admits, all these bogus protests are about libtards who detest and have contempt for ModiJi and BJP harnessing Muslim angst. But make no mistake, ModiJi had the guts to stand up for persecuted minorities in TSP and Beedi land. And on that he should not and cannot back down. If he does that, then he will lose core support as he will be seen to be caving in to pressure.

It has come to this: If u want current truth on India, read Russian news (RT.com)

An invasion of falsehoods: India’s ‘liberals’ running propaganda war over new citizenship law
Abhijit Majumder
Abhijit Majumder
is a senior Indian journalist who has been the editor of national dailies like Mid Day, Hindustan Times (Delhi and NCR editions) and Mail Today.

As cops are being beaten up and trains and buses burnt by communal mobs, an info war has been unleashed against Modi’s government to twist the CAA and spin large-scale violence and bigotry as spontaneous, progressive resistance.

This protest movement has many fathers, the most useful being the one that should disown it the quickest: Liberals.

It is through them that a massive information war against India’s new Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) –– which offers shelter to persecuted Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Parsis from Islamic Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh –– is being carried out.

From film personalities like Farhan Akhtar and Sushant Rajput to selectively secular activists and journalists, self-proclaimed liberals are circulating lies from very dubious sources about the CAA and the proposed nationwide National Register of Citizens (NRC).

The same global breed pander to Islamists in the name of multiculturalism in Europe, fight for an unbridled refugee movement, and facilitate demographic and cultural takeovers across the continent.
Circulation of fakes

Bollywood film actor and director Akhtar recently tweeted a widely circulated online poster inviting people to join the CAA protests in Mumbai. The poster is credited to Stand With Kashmir, an online entity suspected to be run by the Pakistani spy agency ISI from the US and Canada. It has Facebook and Instagram pages with 50,000 and 15,000 followers respectively. It aggressively pushes Pakistan’s separatist and jihadi view of Kashmir, and this poster is a class showcase of that.

Akhtar failed to notice that India’s map in the poster did not show Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and Akshai Chin (conflicted zones with Pakistan and China) as integral parts of the nation.

Then come the outright lies. The poster says the “law excludes Muslims.” But why should the majority Muslims of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, who have systemically persecuted their minorities to the point of near-extinction, be granted protection from religious persecution? Do you protect the sheep running away from a wolf by sheltering the wolf alongside its prey?
Sudden love for women and LGBTQIA

The propaganda document goes on to say, “When combined with the National Register for Citizens…many people will be inhumanly excluded due to being Muslims, transgender, atheists, adivasis, Dalits, women, landless… [sic]”
Amusingly, a nationwide NRC has not yet been drafted. And India’s citizenship has nothing to do with religion, gender, colour, caste, or being tribal or not.
The same Islamists were livid with the special status to Kashmir under Articles 370 and 35A –– which discriminated against women, LGBTQIA, and backward castes.
India’s Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jain, Parsis and Christians will be granted citizenship without documents, but not Muslims. Why this discrimination?” says the document.
The CAA will only fast-track citizenship for persecuted minorities from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. An Indian Hindu without documents will face the same procedures as an Indian Muslim without documents.
So, what’s the fuss about?
Sleeper cells have got activated
Elements of banned extremist organisations have crawled out of the underground to run riot in the name of protest. And there is a new, interesting attempt to dress up garden variety Islamism as progressive resistance.
One such instance is Ladeeda Farzana Sakhaloon. ‘Liberal’ media posted selfies with this nerdy, headscarf-covered girl, describing her as a “Shero.”
Scratch the surface, and a sinister story emerges.
Her husband and she are part of a highly communal group named Students Islamic Organisation which cheers conversions and Islamic rule.
“During the protest gathering happened yesterday. Some liberals dictated us to refrain from chanting ‘Insha Allah’ and ‘Allah-Hu-Akbar,’” Ladeeda writes in a social media post. “We have only submitted completely towards Almighty. We have abandoned your secular slogans long before. Those slogans will be raised loudly again and again… [sic].”
Path to hell is paved with…
On Thursday, a ‘liberal’ website had to eat crow for trying to whitewash the most egregious slogans shouted at the anti-CAA protests.
Protesters were seen in a video shouting “freedom from Hindus.” Indians were outraged by the genocidal tones, but this website called it a fake. It turned out later that the video was genuine.
While policemen are being beaten up, trains and buses burnt by predominantly aggressive Muslim mobs, an information jihad rages against India, twisting the law and spinning large-scale violence and bigotry in the name of protests as some kind of spontaneous, righteous, anti-fascist youth resistance.

A meeting with real humans..
‘Lies & rumors’ being spread over citizenship bill, Modi tells huge crowd at Delhi rally
22 Dec, 2019 13:20
Recent unrest over a new citizenship law has been fueled by misinformation spread by opposition parties, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed while speaking to supporters who gathered in Delhi.
Tens of thousands of people attended the Sunday rally for Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party.
Speaking to the crowd, the Indian PM said that protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) have been “incited” by political parties “spreading rumors” about the legislation, ANI reported.
He accused his rivals of stoking fears that Muslims would be rounded up and sent to detention centers and called on people to read the Act in detail.
“Respect your education, read what is the Citizenship Amendment Act… You are educated,” he said.
The government claims that the law aims to protect persecuted religious minorities by fast-tracking citizenship for refugees from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Critics say the bill is discriminatory because it does not include Muslims.
Opening his remarks by saying “unity in diversity is India's specialty,” Modi stressed that Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians have all benefited from India’s secular constitution.
One thousand police officers, as well as anti-drone teams, were deployed to provide security for the event, local media reported.
Demonstrators against the CAA haven’t stopped protesting in cities and towns across India since the Act was ratified by parliament on December 11, with some rallies turning extremely violent and claiming at least 21 lives.

That must be it!

Which makes it interesting! They are already on the street, pelting stone, destroying property and battling the bolice. So as someone rightly pointed out, she is calling for more street violence.

Also, no one rushing to the courts or NHRC means that everyone involved want's this to go on for a while. Except for the BJP's, from everyone's POV, a little more violence would be in their interest. Theek hai.

She(Laura Lynch) did put some good questions to Sherwani, to which an unsatisfactory response was given( not surprisingly)

Milan Vaishnav was not being judgemental, on the CAA or any other contentious issue like Ayodhya and Kashmir. Just laying out the facts. Did commendably state that Modi is far and away the most popular political figure in India, that what he and his party have done is to be expected, and that he is very unlikely to rescind the CAA, at most put a 'pause' on it. Also pointed out Pakistan's hypocrisy and bad record wrt minorities, blasphemy laws etc

CRamS, nice to know an American resident has listened to the CBC! :) Yes, some of their presenters are quite good, though one cannot expect realistically, a strong espousal of BR/ Hindu nationalist sentiment. Balance is the best we can hope for!

A noob pooch:
From the Indian census data : do we know the break up of the muslim sects in india Or is that information not collected; i.e., the population distribution of sunnis, shias, dawoodi bohra, Ahmadiyas, Ishmailis etc. Also data collection stops at shia/sunni or just muslim.
And can there be comparable from Napal, Malay, Turkey and other OIC countries.
What I am driving at is to see how the minor sects of islam survives in the Sunni or Shia majoritarianism.
Later this can be shown that it is the sunni/wahabi driven jihadists causing trouble not to the Hindus but also to the other muslim sects.
Same can be applied to the Xians to see the breakup of RC, Protestants, Lutherans etc . And also to highlight who are at the forefront of aligning with the jihadist forces.
This could be applied to corner the WASP countries etc so show how the other sects are peacefully integrated with no sense of 'Darr'

It just frustrates me no end, that one cannot ever find one nationalist on US/Canada media who can eloquently and clearly articulate India's PoV. The terror we have faced from Pak. Its always these priks: ADhothi, Rana Ayyub, likes Arifa whatever, Pankaj Misra. Very similar to Russian media or Chinese media asking some far left nut from US like Louis Farakhan or Noam Chmosky to talk to about US policy.

That is because, generally, they are not interested in airing that viewpoint.... India/Hindu viewpoint

I have been watching bbc/ch4 and the rest .... economist/ft for many decades.... All India/Hindu haters to the core
Edward Luce comes to mind in the PM Vajpayee era

Nothing is likely to change until India is worth many trillions...
money and a big thick danda across the head is all they understand... and of course hefty military might

RT.com: Indian Policeman saved by coin purse from "peaceful protestors"' bullet
A police constable in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, swept by violent protests against a citizenship law, said he narrowly escaped certain death after a bullet passed through his bulletproof vest but was stopped by a coin.
Vijender Kumar, 24, has been celebrating his “second life” after he was shot in the chest as protests against the citizenship law descended into violent clashes in the city of Firozabad on Friday.
Protesters reportedly set at least six vehicles on fire, including police cars, while hurling stones at the officers, who responded with tear gas. One person was killed in the showdown, and two police officers, including Kumar, suffered bullet wounds. Twenty-five civilians were taken to the hospital, predominantly with injuries resulting from stone-pelting and about 30 police officers were hurt, according to police.
Kumar said he was hit by a bullet after police, put on the defensive by the demonstrators, moved in to disperse the rally.

“Amid heavy stone-pelting and firing, I had to chase the violent mob. The bullet escaped my heart by a whisker”

While the officer was wearing protective body armor at the time, the vest failed to stop the live fire he said was coming from the protesters’ side.
“Though the vest failed to protect me, my wallet, in which I had kept a picture of Lord Shiva and a few coins, saved me. It’s my second life and I’m thankful to God.

Protests over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which New Delhi says is aimed at the protection of persecuted minorities, have been marred by widespread violence, with opponents slamming the legislation as discriminatory towards Muslims. The unrest has reportedly claimed 22 lives across the country, including 15 in Uttar Pradesh.
The Uttar Pradesh police chief reported Saturday that over 260 servicemen have been injured in the scuffles and arson attempts in the state.

Indian PM Modi summons ministers as death toll rises in ongoing protests against India citizenship act - reports
21 Dec, 2019 08:34 / Updated 1 day ago
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reportedly consult with his ministers about the security situation in India, following nationwide protests against a new citizenship law that have left up to seventeen people dead.
The turmoil over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will be a top agenda item when Modi meets with government officials on Saturday, an unnamed government official told Reuters.
Nationwide protests against the law have become increasingly violent over the past several days. AP cites local authorities’ reports that seventeen people have died in the unrest, while more than 4,000 others have been detained. Protesters set cars on fire and threw stones at security forces. According to reports, police banned public gatherings and cut internet services in parts of New Delhi and other cities in an attempt to stop the demonstrations. Three people have been killed in Uttar Pradesh state as protests continue this Saturday, the local chief of police told AP. Schools, colleges and universities across the state will remain closed.

Same source as above.
Indian intelligence agencies have reportedly alerted police to a plan by terrorist organizations to “hit” Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a crowded event, where he is scheduled to appear over the weekend.
The jihadist groups are planning to “target” Modi at a large rally in Ramlila Ground in New Delhi on Sunday, the Times of India and IANS said, citing a report from the country’s intelligence agencies. The PM is set to appear at the event and deliver a speech to the supporters of his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The intelligence report is said to warn that militants from the Pakistan-based Islamist insurgency group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) “have been mobilised in India to hit the Prime Minister.” The notice also reportedly mentions recent letters from JeM and another terrorist organization, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), calling to attack India’s top officials, including Modi.
According to the media, the intelligence report cites the adoption of the Citizenship Amendment Act, which has sparked protests in recent days, and the revocation of Kashmir’s autonomy in August among the factors that have raised security concerns. Based on their assessment, the intelligence agencies are said to have asked police to beef up Modi’s protection.

Why would NRC be bad for BJP, it is like saying RJB verdict is going to be bad for BJP and it is the start of the downfall. Please do share the video.
In total, this act will not move even 1% of the vote (mind you used the word move) in either direction except for WB and Assam. Assam needs more analysis, but in WB, this is one act that may get BJP elected in assembly.
NRC is a must but it seems like the admin and infra is not there right now.

Aadhaar as proof of citizenship?
Technically speaking, if all one has to do is, say, provide a birth certificate to have his/her name entered in the Citizens Register, the same needed to get an Aadhaar card or be on the voters' list, why this process at all? After all, the government says more than 120 crore Indians‚ pretty much the entire adult population, has an Aadhaar card, so surely it has the data it needs anyway. In a way, that would render the whole NRC exercise self-defeating.
I don't understand why it says the exercise is self defeating? Shouldn't Adhar make the NRC process easier. Adhar should be all inclusive. It's essential to gather data regardless of whether citizenship is granted. Mohammad Atta got a green card after bringing down the twin towers, it will never be perfect.

Burning a bus should put one on a fast track for Adhar and get on the naughty list. get your assets tagged ! The state can suck the juice out of them, but without data there's no power.
In addition, there is the even more well-founded fear of administrative arbitrariness and bribe-seeking. Finally, the rules nowhere say how the registrar will determine the legitimacy or otherwise of a claim. The local registrar, after all, is not a trained investigator.
Standardize, and anonymize the process into unrelated, random geographical lots spread over time, Then distribute the work to geographically disconnected processing centers. so no gravy train can develop.

While Adhar should be all inclusive, nationality can be more stringent, but rejection does not mean it's final. They should at least be granted legal residence status unless they are criminals. If they want to apply for citizenship without docs then there should be a way, but it cannot be automatic. First pref goes to people with records. Instead of bribing local babus applicants should pay a standard fine and fees to the govt.

A handful of Guyanese, Khalistani, and disenchanted Indians held a token protest against CAA/NRC (actually they weren't sure what exactly) in downtown Toronto. It must have lasted all but 20 minutes before police had to move them on because of a Christmas market in the vicinity. Soon there was a debate over the Mayor allowing protests/processions that have no concern to local politics.

So to get news from India, there are now only 2 sources: 1. Daily Excelsior. 2. RT.com
UBCN strongly considering setting up full-scale operations, but besides the above 2 sources we would simply have to invent our own. Can't be any worse than what is put out by the "professional" media. Sad.

JMM+INC has not secured full majority on its own yet. They have 34 together and will need RJD's 5 and BSP's 2 to get to 41. CPIM also has 1. SO they can form khichdi govt like MH and previously in KT but it will not be stable. BJP has almost 35% vote share.

BJP political leadership is misreading the voters. They think the 50-60% vote for Modi means it is vote for BJP. If they had maintained the alliance with AJSU they would have swept the Jharkhand election.

Alliance maths is unknown plus we have seen Sena antics and there is nothing to prevent that from happening again.

The problem, from whatever little that I caught on twitter who follow such things, is that the CM is very unpopular for whatever reasons plus the administration was not up to the mark. Many were hoping that BJP would project a new face to get over the local sentiments but BJP obviously thought otherwise.

I have noticed this thing with Modi led BJP where they are loath to remove/replace leaders i.e. admit mistake. The pattern stretches back to Rajasthan where V Raje had riled up quite a bit of the state and yet she was retained at the helm. It is being repeated in Jkarkhand.

It won't matter even if BJP sits at center with 350 seats if state govts are from opposition. Nothing worthwhile development can take place with BiF or pro BiF govts are there in state.

BJP will regain all the states in next election cycle. Rajasthan always voted alternate govts. MP will likely be with BJP again. So does CG, Jarkhand and probably Punjab too. BJP must focus on retaining Gujarat, Karnataka, Bihar, TN, secure majority on its own in MH and form govts in new states like WB, Kerala, Telangana and AP. WIth old states returning to BJP and winning new states and GE 2024, the BJP can be in power in far more states than ever starting with Delhi. It is worrying though, BJP is not able to replicate its staying power that it showed in MP and Gujarat.

Same was true for Haryana based on what I read. AS wanted to remove Khattar but Modi prevailed and Khattar survived.

Anti-CAA rioters distort Hindu Om symbol to look like Nazi symbol
https://www.opindia.com/2019/12/anti-ca ... zi-symbol/

The left-sponsored protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 continue to rage in various parts of the country. While the anti-CAA lobby has been resorting to severe violence, stone pelting, vandalism and arson to voice their dissent, a poster has emerged from a similar protest in Bengaluru which not only goes on to hurt Hindu sentiments but also displays the protestors bigoted and obscurantist mindset by distoring the Hindu Om symbol.

In a picture shared by a Twitter user, a protestor in Bengaluru is seen holding a placard with a distorted image of a Hindu Om symbol (ॐ) to look like the Nazi swastika symbol. The poster also has a text message which reads: ‘F**k Hindutva’.
Anybody told these geniuses that the Swastika itself is a Hindu symbol, which was distorted by the west? It's very clear where the inspiration is coming from (hint: not from within India).
Actually, the Nazis used an old Germanic symbol, called the hooked cross (Hakenkreuz), which sort of looks like an angled Swastika. This symbol was a Christian symbol and had nothing to do with us. But the common perception has been built that they adapted the Swastika for their ends, and now we get to bear the cross of Nazi hatred (pun not intended). It's become so accepted that a simple search for Hakenkreuz on big G points only to Swastika. G translation service does even better - entering "Hakenkreuz" in German results in Swastika in English.

Thanks to JEM saar for mentioning this in his article that he linked above; reading that reminded me to come back and post this. I had earlier read about this in an article by True Indology published on Swarajya (Hitler Never Used Swastika: Evangelical Defamation Of Hindu Symbol)

This political churn is good lesson for the BJP to find and grow more Modis in every state. They can't keep banking on The Modi for all their elections - its a sureshot losing proposition over the long term. Sort of like making Sachin Tendulkar the team captain and expecting him to carry the entire team. We need a Ganguly, followed by a Dhoni, Kohli and so on.

It is heartening to see that BJP is single largest party on its own in a lot of states now. Things will only improve from hear. State elections are more prone to caste/identity politics at local level and will take some time to change over to nationalism as main driver of elections. But better CMs are needed to make it happen.

Sir, it took only 1 term of ysr to change AP irrevocably. I just hope things don't repeat in other states as well.

Jharkhand is stupidity on part of BJP. Alliance with AJSU would have won the state comfortably. Overconfidence and disconnect with ground reality.
