Seems like they are trying to build him a heroic death.
They are in shock that one of their 'elite' top gun crashed a US F16 due to a mistake.
Post Balakot and the air action the next day, they are even more prickly about their H&D and saving face.

What was surprising to me from the conversation is that the pilot states, "May Day, May Day" and the ATC responds, "Eject Immediately!"Kartik wrote:100% fake. Don't you want to know what the emergency actually is?

It's part of their national psyche. They lack rational and logical thinking, or at least most average Pakis do. They collectively stick to a morale boosting version, something that makes them all gloss over incompetence, mistakes, issues, etc. If you ever have to endure watching their TV debates, it's an exercise in bravado, machismo and basically a lot of lies and propaganda. They gloss over all the fundamental issues that plague their society and country and build this narrative of how special they are and how special their armed forces are.Manish_P wrote:Seems like they are trying to build him a heroic death.

Wing Cmdr Noman Akram will be put on that same pedestal. Nevermind that he made an error in flight, and paid the heaviest price for it. They'll turn him into a national hero with all these bogus chat transcripts. All that was left was a song and sentimental flashback and you could make a Lollywood movie out of this.

I really want to see how they'll make a heroic movie out of a guy screwing up a loop -- it is pretty much an aerial equivalent of the cliched comedy trope "driving car off a cliff and dies."Kartik wrote:It's part of their national psyche. the PAF pilot was trying to save his ass and not trying to steer the plane towards a deserted area...all the radio chatter is lot of BS. but PAF H&D has to be maintained..

JF17 flying display - for the Feb 27 non performance. Still does not complete the loop, atleast not that i can see.

I really wonder - aerodynamically whats preventing them to complete the loop.

I think its analog FBW restricts its G forces, hence it probably will struggle in the dogfight also.naird wrote:JF17 flying display - for the Feb 27 non performance. Still does not complete the loop, atleast not that i can see.

A force that didn't come or respond in kargil, BalakOt, and salala raid, wanted to shoot USAF chopper. Mod sir, do you really believe the story?
Re: Pakistan Armed Forces: News & Discussion Thread
The PAF had little (if any) clue what nation's aircraft they were targeting, other than it being an aircraft not identified as civilian. Airliners follow a pre-determined flight path and have a transponder identifying themselves as such. That flight path is known to the air controllers in the PAF. Any aircraft that does not meet that criteria, is identified as hostile. In that scenario, any air force will engage. Being successful or not, is a different story. But engaging is a must. But thank goodness, it was not a successful engagement. Pakistan would have got a rude awakening.
Until the US Govt advised Pakistan what had occurred, they were clueless as to what happened.

Re: Pakistan Armed Forces: News & Discussion Thread
That is not exactly true. In Kargil they kept their patrols on their side since our fighters did not cross LoC usually and they did not want to start an all-out war. Plus they were dealing with spare parts issues for their F-16's and lack of any BVR missiles to counter IAF fighters which had that capability (Mirage-2000's and Mig-29's). Kaiser Tufail mentions all of this in his blog about Kargil.ranjan.rao wrote: A force that didn't come or respond in kargil, BalakOt, and salala raid, wanted to shoot USAF chopper. In Balakot, they did attempt to respond but IAF kept them busy using diversionary maneuvers in other sectors, using the element of surprise and achieving numerical superiority.
Re: Pakistan Armed Forces: News & Discussion Thread
Dude was flying low in the clutter and definitely had a lot of ECM onboard. He pretty much gives away the F16 radar could not get out of search mode.
Re: Pakistan Armed Forces: News & Discussion Thread
What a blow to Pak H&D (of the deaf-n-dumb forum types). F16 not being able to lock on to a helicopter

Whats so funny abt that ... yankees know capabilities of their gear on f 16 s and how to fool it....

on a related note..to the points mentioned above that would the same apply to our apaches? also would they be in threat library of F16s?

Not only that, it could have been that hypothesized "kill switch" on Amreeki equipment. lolmanjgu wrote:Whats so funny abt that ... yankees know capabilities of their gear on f 16 s and how to fool it....
Re: Pakistan Armed Forces: News & Discussion Thread
It is not just about knowing the capabilities of the F-16. It is about stuffing sensitive and capable ECM and jamming equipment on SOF helicopters which they've had for quite a while even based on publicly known information (besides classified stuff). The Abbottabad raid involved a number of classified gear including a previously unknown helicopter. Compared to that any EW gear, besides what was known to have been operational on those platforms, is just trivial stuff from a cost or technical perspective. We are talking about a time-frame where JSOC essentially got whatever it wanted no matter how much it cost.manjgu wrote:Whats so funny abt that ... yankees know capabilities of their gear on f 16 s and how to fool it....

Fratricide was reported in PA couple of days ago. Seems the CO, Col M Lahori was fatally shot by his junior ( either his 2-IC or Company Commander). Unit 31 Baloch, officers and men Balochis and CO Pakjabi.
The officers then burnt the Brigade Mess and went absconding or are missing.
Will post the links when i get on a computer.

Test failure for Babur-II cruise missile.

What's the difference between Babur-I and 2? Better guidance? The range is the same.

Not related to the PAF, but to PAC Kamra and the JF-17, hence posting in this thread
Nigeria will take delivery of JF-17 fighters in November 2020
Nigeria will take delivery of JF-17 fighters in November 2020
The Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar announced that the NAF will receive its three JF-17 Thunder multi-role fighters in November 2020.
The CAS made the announcement to 2,079 new recruits of the NAF during a passing out parade in Kaduna.
Nigeria started budgeting funds for its JF-17 order in 2016 with an initial tranche of $15.88 million US. In 2017, it allocated another $68.76 million US for “platform acquisitions … for counter air, counter surface, air ops for strategic effect and air support operations.” In 2018, Nigeria set aside another $47 million US.
In March 2019, Pakistan’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) announced that it approved the sale of three JF-17s to Nigeria under a $184 million US contract.
The three-year gap between the time Nigeria started budgeting funds and the ECC’s approval suggests that Pakistan was waiting for payments before starting the production of the fighters.
It is likely that the NAF will follow-up this contract with a follow-on order to fully replace its legacy F-7Ni and FT-7Ni fighters. Nigeria seems to be ordering aircraft once it has sufficient cash funds for an order on-hand (i.e., not through a line of credit or loan).
However, these three initial JF-17s are from the tail-end of the Block-II’s production run. By 2021, Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) will be rolling-out JF-17Bs and JF-17 Block-IIIs. Thus, any follow-on purchase by the NAF would likely involve one of the newer JF-17 variants.

^^ While we test Tejas for the 84 million times and keep finding flaws. Great is the enemy of good.

May be they asked their friends Cheen to help out with CGI. Chinese anyways do top-notch CGI stuff & productions...
Re: Pakistan Armed Forces: News & Discussion Thread
So Nigeria is getting 3 JF17 for 180 M? 60M per jet for Block1? What is cheap about it?
Re: Pakistan Armed Forces: News & Discussion Thread
Porkistan have started receiving the 282 T55 tanks that were bought from Serbia last year. Now they will claim that they have modernized it, will give it an arabic sounding name and say that is superior to T90 which it is otherwise desperate to buy.
Anybody remember their Al Zarrar tin-can?

Al-Khalid production seems to be stopped or slowed to standstill. Probably they will try to refurbish these T-55 to those Al-Zarrar standards, if they got any money left.
Re: Pakistan Armed Forces: News & Discussion Thread
Precisely the reason i brought it up. Just like Al Zarrar, the 'modernized T-55' is going to be nothing but a glorified heap of Junk.Sid wrote:Al-Zarrar was a refurbished Chinese T-59 anyways.Vips wrote:Porkistan have started receiving the 282 T55 tanks that were bought from Serbia last year. Pakistan is progressing backwards in time. From the 50's and early 60's era T-59 tanks it is moving to second world war era T-55's
Re: Pakistan Armed Forces: News & Discussion Thread
Apparently North Korea has some T-34 tanks still in service. We may yet see them in Pakistani camo. These T-55 are apparently destined for the Frontier Corps at Afghan border.
